This pan is a bargain. Since Calphalon rarely offers such deep discounts, it seems worthwhile to add it to one's collection. Because it has the rounded chef's shape, I would use it for stir-frying, reducing sauces, and making demi-glace. I have two flat-bottomed woks (Joyce Chen and Calphalon), but they do not work that well on an electric range. This chef's pot works well for a small-to-medium stir fry on either gas or electric burners. When the stir fry is done, I use a Calphalon nylon scoop to remove the cooked food, then I reduce the sauce. The hard anodized finish of this chef's pot makes it virtually non-stick. Using a pan spray is not a good idea because it can leave behind a sticky residue. Hand-washing is recommended, with use of Bon Ami or Dormond cleaner for any stubborn stains.

Even if you buy inexpensive wines, you will get much more enjoyment out of them with this glassware compared to other options. If you are buying mid-range wines, the difference will blow you away. Think of the Riedel glass as allowing you to see what the wine in your bottle *really* was meant to taste like. I use the Bordeaux glass for a number of red wine types, not just Bordeaux, and find it greatly enhances the flavor for them all. If you're a red wine lover, definitely give these a try!
Their capaciousness allows the nose fully to enter the glass upon drinking, to allow all the earthy scents so representative of great Bordeaux wines to enhance the flavor and bring the wine to display all its charms. While they are not of the legendary Riedel mouth-blown Sommelier lineage, they suffer little from this fact. The hands that wrought those sublime designs also created these goblets. If you believe that in vino veritas, then these pathways to truth are not something of which you should deprive yourself.

The initial set up was kind of a hassle. I don't like leaving the coffee maker plugged in and turned on all of the time. It has a vacation switch and Bunn recommends using this if you are not going to use it for 3 days. The coffee is SMOOTH and EXCELLENT. It stays hot for about 2 hrs, but after 3 it is lukewarm. I was hoping it would stay hotter longer. It is so easy and fast to make a fresh pot, I am willing to put up with it. Overall, I am very pleased with the taste of the coffee. I am amazed how the taste is even better than my Grind and Brew delivered.

One thing that you should understand about any aluminum or cast iron cookware is staining of the outside surface. Any oils or food that spill onto the outside during cooking will actually be absorbed into the metal surface creating a dark stain that cannot be removed. I consider this part of the seasoning of the cookware and not unattractive but people who like their cookware to always look new should consider stainless steel or something.

Amazon.com Review This 7-inch santoku is a Japanese cook's (or chef's) knife, featuring alow-tip style with a broad blade. The cutting edge is minimally curved,so it provides less rocking action than a European-style cook's knife. For straight-down slicing and precise chopping, however, it's superb.Alternating hollows on each side of the blade create air pockets, allowing slices to fall away cleanly. This knife should be hand washed.--Fred Brack Features Reviews (29)
This Japanese inspired Santuko knife by Wusthof has certainly added to my joy in the kitchen. It's the perfect implement for slicing, dicing or chopping. Alternating indentations prevent food from sticking to the blade, while its heft and balance are perfection. A razor sharp blade allows me to slice as thinly as I wish, whether it be for carpaccio or the prosciuto we so enjoy. It's ideal for the cheese and ham in panini, and makes quick work of onions and celery for a family recipe for vegetable soup. I do recommend that you hand wash it, just as you would a fine piece of silver. Believe me, this knife is sterling in every way. - Gail Cooke

The machine comes in a rather large box and has an assortment of gaskets, hoses, and connections. The hoses can either connect to the sink via a quick connect adaptor (included) or screw into a regular faucet connector. It's got a hot and cold water inlet and many many options on the electronic panel. Since I only have a sink adaptor and thus one source of water I only use the cold water inlet, even for hot water. It seems just fine with this configuration. Contrary to one of the reviews, you can change the program once you've started; you only have to hit 'pause' and switch options...and the machine only beeps six times if you open the door. I think someone else said it beeped until you close the door. It feels almost like an actual full size machine, and will fit about 3 pairs of jeans, 3 shirts, some socks, underwear, and a towel easily in one load. Maybe even more, but I don't like to stuff it full. This machine has a very decent size tub with a very small footprint. I believe 1.62 cubic feet is the tub size, and it does have an agitator in the center. It comes with casters and makes it into my 22" closet door just fine so that I can hide it and isn't too heavy either. It's not a high end washer, but it gets the job done and it does it intelligently. I peeked underneath the machine and it seems to be put together quite simply, so hopefully it will last. It hasn't leaked a drop yet also, though the sink outlet connection is at the bottom of the machine, so have a pot handy to catch water when (if) you disconnect this hose from the machine. I've estimated that this machine will pay for itself in 6 months, but as far as I'm concerned, it has paid for itself already. NO MORE LAUNDROMAT!!! In this case, you get more than you pay for.
Pros: Large enough for 2 people or bed sheets/small blankets. I find that the small or med load settings is sufficient for me (1 person). Clothes come out fairly dry after the spin cycle. There is a timer to let you know how long before the load finishes. There are 2 lint filters which works pretty well. The machine is pretty quiet (except when it beeps). Connections: It allows easy connection to faucet (with quick disconnect adapter) or to regular washer hookups. I find that my bathroom sink doesn't empty quickly enough. Also, the discharge hose comes out on the bottom right side. I wished it comes out from the back instead to maintain the clean look. I didn't get the service manual, so I called Haier customer service to see if they have an electonic version. Call was answered quickly. But, they wanted to charge me for a copy of the manual. So, if anyone can put a scanned copy online, please post the website. I'd really appreciate the help.
It's steel cover has one obvious bump; only 4 of the 8 screwes of the bottom cover could be fixed; most importantly, the inside tub is off-center, the high speed roation obviously will damage the engine. We even dare not to try to use this machine. Haier in china is a famous brand, don't understand why its branch in america produce such a shabby machine. What's more, we contaced the support line of Haier, they said they will come to have a look, but in fact never, delay and delay again. this is the worst shopping experience I ever have in America!!!

I received my machine on 9 April 2004 and brewed a cup within a few minutes (after flushing the machine as recommended). Even the medium roast tasted richer than most coffee I've made with traditional coffee makers. My wife likes a milder tasting coffee, so the mild roast is perfect for her. The dark roast is the closest to espresso you'll get without spending hundreds on an espresso machine. The coffee is nice and hot and the "crema" layer on top completes the experience! For those who gave this machine poor reviews, make sure you wash the pod holders and water tank and flush the machine before the first use. If you don't use it for more than a day, flush it before use with fresh, cold water. Be sure to use the correct pod holder and press the correct (4 oz or 8 oz) button. Place the pod with the flat side up(has the Senseo logo printed on this side). Use fresh, cold water (probably the most important ingredient in coffee) and don't reuse the pods! I tried this and the second cup tasted like "coffee from a can" coffee. Finally, and most important: give the coffee a stir before drinking. The bottom layer contains most of the good stuff. I hope that other coffee roasters are reading these reviews and will offer pods. My only concern at this point is that there aren't any alternative pods from other roasters yet available. The Douwe Egberts brand coffee is excellent, but the availability of a variety of blends and beans will be demanded soon, because sales of this machine are sure to take off! Enjoy!

Back when I was growing up we made delicious rice, rice porridge, steamed sausage over rice, steamed chicken and vegetables in broth, bean soup, etc. using the simple one button rice cooker. The trick for some of the dishes is to run the cook cyle twice to cook longer. I mention all this to explain why just having a rice cooker cooking different things doesn't totally impress me. I'm used to having one that is simple to use and versatile. With this background, I was a little bit disappointed in the ZAC10 rice cooker although I still think it is an excellent product. This neuro fuzzy is CUTE. And it makes DELICIOUS oatmeal. It also makes cheaper rice taste better. The keep warm feature works perfectly -- no making a crust. I use the timer feature for oatmeal in the morning - very nice to have. But it is also awfully SLOW. I'm used to the rice cooker cooking faster than the stovetop method but this one is just as slow if not slower. For 1 small cup of rice it takes 40+ minutes. The machine I grew up with took 20 minutes. Even the quick cook feature on this machine takes 30 minutes. Theoretically you can't use this as a steamer according to the Ultimate Rice Cooker cookbook I also bought. That's too bad since I am used to steaming things in a rice cooker. I will play around with it though and see if that's really the case. I am still torn about whether to get this for my motherinlaw this Xmas. She loves oatmeal but cooked in milk so the timer feature won't help her. But still, it makes delicious oatmeal without her having to stand and stir. And it keeps it warm for a long time. What's making me hesitate is that she doesn't eat rice that often and the buttons in the front are rather daunting. (It really isn't as complicated as it looks though) Also the manual has no good recipes. It doesn't even tell you if you can make oatmeal with milk or not in it. (You can.) On the web they have some and if I were to get this for her I would definitely print out some recipes to go with it. This would be an expensive gift not to be used. If you eat rice alot or like rice, oatmeal, porridge, that kind of thing... a rice cooker is a must and this one is a great one. Just realize that if you're use to a one button rice cooker you'll be giving up simplicity.

FOLLOW-UP: To be fair to the recipe, I should say I used quick cook oats (1 minute type) instead of the steel cut slow cook type oatmeal. Maybe that made a difference. BUt if so, too bad because I still have a lot of the other kind of oatmeal to use up.
I suspect something is wrong with the Fuzzi Logic programming, which should be able to sense the altitude by measuring the boiling point of water and extend cooking times accordingly. Fuzzi Logic is an incremental type of mathematical set theory in which the next step depends upon the success of the previous step. Not being able to cope with higher altitudes suggest a fault with the coding. And it spoils the general usefulness of the cooker. Personally, I would welcome information from Zojirushi regarding how to adapt the NS-ZAC10 to high altitude cooking --- if indeed that is possible. I have no idea how to contact them. They don't appear to maintain a website. Unless you live at sea level, don't waste your money. Buy a simple, inexpensive On/Off rice cooker where you can compensate for altitude by adding more liquid and extending the cooking time. On the other hand, if you live near sea level, this cooker works well.

Amazon.com Review The Perfect Steam comes with a platinum soleplate for effortless glide and incredible durability. It has a sleek teardrop shape, a full-length button channel, and an anti-drip design. Rowenta also equips the iron with three-way automatic shut-off: after 8 minutes if left vertically, 30 seconds if left horizontally, and 30 seconds if tipped over. Large and comfortable in the hand, the iron holds up to 13 ounces of water at a time in a translucent tank. The tanks opening is among the cleverest on the market--a tidy lid pushes in for filling and releases for closure. The iron also comes with an anti-calc system to trap scale and deposits that could interfere with its performance. Measuring 12 by 5 by 6-3/4 inches, the Perfect Steam is made in Germany, and has a full one-year warranty. --Emily Bedard From the Manufacturer The DX-9800 has been engineered around major technical innovations of the three core functions of an iron: heat, steam, and the soleplate. The Intra Steam system "pulses" the steam, creating the perfect cycle of steam and pressing. The Thermo Control system uses an electronic sensor that measures and maintains an even temperature in the soleplate. The Platinium soleplate combines outstanding glide and non-stick, non-scratch properties. Its stainless steel core coated with ultra-thin silicate coating for a tougher, smoother surface with excellent non-stick and non-scratch properties. The Next Level in Irons This iron, like all Rowenta irons, is ergonomically designed for comfort, with thumb grips and index finger grooves, and easily used by both left and right handed user,. Its new comfort handles is soft and resilient, with silicon rubber pads that provide support and relieve pressure at key contact points between hand and handle. The non-slip texture and pattern provides a firm grip for precision control. Features Features Reviews (11)
wow! It does a great job! Ironing is much easier and actually a little fun, as crazy as that sounds. This generates a ton of steam, it heats up very quickly and has a light to tell you when the it's ready for use. It is virtually spillproof as the there is a spring loaded top on the hole where you pour the water into the iron. It's heavy enough to provide some solid weight for the clothes, but not too heavy to make it difficult to move. If you're in the market for an iron, try this one out and you won't be sorry!

Amazon.com Review The set consists of a 2-quart saucepan with lid; a deep, 3-quart casserole pan with lid; a 3-quart sauté pan with lid that's also perfect for braising; a 6-quart stockpot with lid; and 8-inch and 10-inch fry pans. The pot and pans display Emeril's signature on their cast-stainless-steel handles, which are riveted for strength, have thumb rests, stay cool on the stovetop, and won't be harmed by an oven's highest heat. The pot and pans' lips flare to facilitate dripless pouring. Made of tempered glass, lids allow cooking to be monitored without releasing heat. Stainless-steel bands around their edges prevent chipping and ensure a tight fit. Although Emerilware Stainless cookware is dishwasher-safe, hand washing is recommended. It carries a lifetime warranty against defects. --Fred Brack What's in the Box Features Reviews (21)
First of all, you must preheat the pans and use some type of oil, fat, etc. Second, do not overheat these pans. A little over "medium" is about all you need unless you're just boiling water. Anything hotter than that will often cause the metal to look blueish until it is properly cleaned. This is true of all stainless cookware I've used. Also, the copper on the pot will tarnish because, IT IS COPPER. That's going to happen. So if you want the cookware to look nice and pretty then don't use them. If you actually plan to cook, this is some decent cookware at a decent price. (BTW, the copper cleans easily with Bar Keeper's Friend, or a common household solution such as lemon juice and salt). That said, I prefer All-Clad. (I plan on becoming a chef, and I'm insistent on having the best)
Just thought I'd add more information to the issue...

I really liked the look of the "Flight" set and thought that Oneida would be a quality brand. However, the flatware is very thin and light and were not heavy duty at all. They reminded me of cafeteria quality flatware...not something at a nice restaurant. Whenever I used them on anything that produced a little bit of resistance (like ice cream right out of the freezer), the flatware had a tendency to bend. Yes, that's right. BEND. Over the course of a few years, the spoons and knives were the hardest hit and some do look very warped. Every now and then I try to re-bend them back to the way they were, but alas it just doesn't look the same. I recently purchased the Lenox Butler's Pantry 45-Piece Flatware Set and am much happier with this purchase.

What a great machine this is because of the turbo brushes. They get deep down into the fibers and really scrub and clean the rug. The colors popped as if new again. I did every rug in the house. I too boiled some the water I added to the machine so it would stay hot while I worked. It is pretty easy to set up and use as well. To the person who gave this a bad rating I say " This is not a Vacuum Cleaner." This is a carpet steamer/cleaner. You have to vacuum your rugs BEFORE your clean them..... Read the instructions.
