Amazon.com Review

This moderately sized, deep, round-sided skillet is like a flat-bottomed wok, perfect for stir-frying and designed to facilitate a chef's C-shaped flipping motion. Because it exposes lots of surface compared to the diameter of its bottom (it's 6 inches at the bottom, 9 inches across the top), the 2-quart skillet is also ideal for quickly reducing sauces. Though not nonstick, like some Calphalon cookware, the matte-finish pan is anodized for stick-resistance as well as hardness. Metal utensils won't harm the surface. Contoured, textured handles of cast stainless steel resist heating on the stovetop, go safely into the oven, and are triple-riveted for durability and balance. Notches in the handles facilitate hanging on a hook or a peg. Made of heavy-gauge aluminum, the pan cooks without hot spots or warping and carries a lifetime warranty against defects. --Fred Brack ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Small, Versatile Pan--Great Buy
This Calphalon Commercial Hard-Anodized 2-Quart Chef's Pan with Lid is a "collector's item" from the newer line of Calphalon's Hard-Anodized cookware. Thus, it is the same alloy aluminum type pan as in the older "Professional" line, but its handle is "stay-cool" sculpted stainless steel, instead of an older chrome-covered iron handle, which could get very hot to the touch. The 9-Inch bottom of this chef's pan is slightly smaller than that of the 3-Quart Sauté pan, another useful pan that usually comes with a Calphalon starter set.

This pan is a bargain. Since Calphalon rarely offers such deep discounts, it seems worthwhile to add it to one's collection. Because it has the rounded chef's shape, I would use it for stir-frying, reducing sauces, and making demi-glace. I have two flat-bottomed woks (Joyce Chen and Calphalon), but they do not work that well on an electric range. This chef's pot works well for a small-to-medium stir fry on either gas or electric burners. When the stir fry is done, I use a Calphalon nylon scoop to remove the cooked food, then I reduce the sauce.

The hard anodized finish of this chef's pot makes it virtually non-stick. Using a pan spray is not a good idea because it can leave behind a sticky residue. Hand-washing is recommended, with use of Bon Ami or Dormond cleaner for any stubborn stains.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Pan, Great Value
Even though mine came from Toledo, this pan IS lighter weight than my other Calphalon pans, but after using it for several months, I don't notice any less performance compared to its heavier siblings. It's a great size for sauteing vegetables or shrimp for 1-2 people, and with its deep tapered sides, it's ideal for reducing sauces. Even with thick cheese sauces, you don't have to worry about "hot spots" burning or sticking (it makes a killer alfredo sauce). This pan won't wipe clean with a paper towel like a non-stick pan will, but after following Calphalon's guidelines, I haven't had any problem cleaning any of my hard-anodized pans, whether I fried, baked or broiled in them. I have gotten a few oil spots on my pans, as other reviewers have mentioned, but they don't look that bad, and it doesn't affect performance. This is a great little pan and a great big value.

5-0 out of 5 stars Accurate info for prospective buyer research
If you are considering the purchase of this pan or any of the caphalon products in this line. Totally disregard the Toledo vs China comments. They have no validity WHATSOEVER! I've purchased three of these pans (2 Toledo's, 1 China), and there is absolutely no difference in quality, thickness, or weight. I've also purchased the Calphalon Commercial Hard-Anodized 2-1/2-Quart Shallow Saucepans with Lids (1 Toledo, 1 China), and again, there is absolutely no difference in quality, thickness, or weight. There is a difference in thickness & weight, if you compare them to other caphalon product lines. However, that is not to say they inferior. They have a nice thickness and weight, great heat retention and dispersment. Awesome for browning, making sauces, stir frying, etc. If you follow the instructions for use, you will have no problems with cleaning, food release, or sticking. I have read most of the reviews, and the bad ones can be attributed to two things: 1. We alway seem to think stuff is way better made in America ... not true in this particular case. Those who made statements about Toledo pans vs China pans, could not own pans from both plants. 2. Complaints about sticking, or cleaning, ...they didnt follow the SIMPLE instructions. For the price, brand, warranty, and quality, this is one of the better kitchen purchases.

2-0 out of 5 stars READ THIS FIRST -- review your needs before u buy it
I bought this , as it looked cool in the website.
First -- Don't buy unless you are single and are making
a one serving of the dish -- it is too small--
aLL the food gets spilled on the stove.
Second -- It doesn't have the protective coating-- like non stick
It doesn't work if you want to cook on high flame
and less oil.You have to compromise on time or fat.
Third -- I bought couple of more in the hard anodized -- they
are good for making soups, not stir fry's.
Fourth -- I cannot use it for deep fry's as I am scared that it
will spill, as it doesn't have a flat base and is not
stable on the stove.
Fifth -- I highly recommend the contemporary style that amazon
has -- I use it all the time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing difference in wine flavors
I've done many, many tests on how wine tastes differently in various glass options and in different situations. Riedel is one of the tests that is easy for even beginning drinkers to see the difference in. The flavor is *amazingly* different when you compare the exact same wine in a Riedel glass vs normal wine glasses.

Even if you buy inexpensive wines, you will get much more enjoyment out of them with this glassware compared to other options. If you are buying mid-range wines, the difference will blow you away. Think of the Riedel glass as allowing you to see what the wine in your bottle *really* was meant to taste like.

I use the Bordeaux glass for a number of red wine types, not just Bordeaux, and find it greatly enhances the flavor for them all. If you're a red wine lover, definitely give these a try!

5-0 out of 5 stars In Xanadu did Kublai Khan a Riedel Glass Decree
Riedel's glasses are neither mere kitchen implements nor mundane drinking vessles; they are a sensuous romp, alive with blood and flesh. The Bordeaux glasses in particular are perhaps the pinnacle of their creation. With the soft, smooth fullness of a woman's breast, they draw one's mind away form the cares of the world and back to the generous bounty of the French countryside.

Their capaciousness allows the nose fully to enter the glass upon drinking, to allow all the earthy scents so representative of great Bordeaux wines to enhance the flavor and bring the wine to display all its charms.

While they are not of the legendary Riedel mouth-blown Sommelier lineage, they suffer little from this fact. The hands that wrought those sublime designs also created these goblets. If you believe that in vino veritas, then these pathways to truth are not something of which you should deprive yourself.

2-0 out of 5 stars Such a Beautiful but Defective Glasses!
I just received my set. The glasses are so... beautiful! Yet, 5 out of 6 are defective!! What a big disappointment! I have been looking forward to receiving my first Riedel....Amazon.com provides great deal which I got $80 for 6 glasses, but they were obviously factory seconds! So disappointed! However, the design of the glass are beautiful!! I am still returning them! So sad!...... :(

4-0 out of 5 stars Riedel vs. Spiegelau
About two years ago I became interested enough in wine that I decided to invest in some high-end wine glasses. The choice came down to Riedel vs. Spiegelau. The first glasses I purchased were 6 Riedel Bordeaux ($89.99)along with 6 Riedel Chards($79.99). They are beautifully crafted with large bowls, very thin rims and wonderfull balance. Other reviewers have commented on the poor quality of Amazon's shipping so I will not expound further. The wines really do taste better out of these glasses. Unfortunately, the very thin rim, although elegant, is also fragile. Within one year two glasses were broken.
Last year I decided to try Spiegelau. If you wait until November/December Amazon will put them on sale and you can purchase 12 glasses for $29.99. These glasses also have fine balance but have a sturdier feel then the Riedel. The rims of the Spiegelau glasses are not as thin as the Riedels and so some may not think they are as elegant. The wine tastes every bit as good if not better out of the Spiegelaus. Unless you can break a $15 glass without uttering an expletive I would save my money and buy the Spiegelau which have now become my everyday glasses.

5-0 out of 5 stars These glasses do work
These glasses DO work and in much more distinct way that I could have ever imagined. I have bought many Riedel glasses to my wine-lover friends and they absolutely love it too. You got to try them to believe it. You won't regret it ! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Can you say WHEW HOOO!
After 3 Mr. Coffee coffee makers dying on me in the same amount of years I decided it was time to invest some money in one that might last me longer then 6-8 months! The design of the Bunn is simple and easy to use and who can complain about having HOT coffee in about 3 minutes time! The other feature I am THRILLED with is that my boy friend and I work different schedules which requires him to be up at 4am and me not until around 7am. With other makers, you normally have an automatic shut off after 2 hours and I refuse to reheat coffee in the microwave because I want the taste of fresh brewed as well. (yeah so I'm spoiled!) In the past I would always throw out whatever he hadn't drunk and brew my own. I was pleasently surprised to find that when I went for my 1st cup several hours after he had already been at work, the coffee was still hot in the Thermal Carafe and not nasty tasting after having sat on a warming plate for hours. I recommend this maker to anyone that likes coffee and wants it fast, tasty and hot! Well worth the money!

4-0 out of 5 stars Smooth Coffee, Hassle in the beginning
I just retired my Cuisine Art Grind and Brew after slowly died for 4 yrs. My husband wanted another one, but he was not the one who had to clean it everday. I am now a stay at home mom with an infant and a 2 yr. old. I NEED GOOD COFFEE AND I NEED IT AS SOON AS I DRAG MY SLEEP-DEPRIVED BODY OUT OF BED! I get up a few hours later than hubby, so I wanted a thermal carafe as I was tired of drinking scorched coffee. I also wanted something attractive and easy to clean. THE MOST important thing I wanted was EASY and EXCELLENT Coffee.

The initial set up was kind of a hassle. I don't like leaving the coffee maker plugged in and turned on all of the time. It has a vacation switch and Bunn recommends using this if you are not going to use it for 3 days. The coffee is SMOOTH and EXCELLENT. It stays hot for about 2 hrs, but after 3 it is lukewarm. I was hoping it would stay hotter longer. It is so easy and fast to make a fresh pot, I am willing to put up with it. Overall, I am very pleased with the taste of the coffee. I am amazed how the taste is even better than my Grind and Brew delivered.

5-0 out of 5 stars the best!
My mom always had a bunn coffee maker, for as long as I can remember. When I got married 7 years ago, I received the same coffeemaker. It is still going strong today. When my brother got married, it was the obvious wedding gift. They love their's too. It is a great long term investment. The lid certainly does not leak-as another review stated.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great buy!
My mother - and my grandmother - had been at me for years to buy a Bunn coffeemaker, but I'm stubborn... When my last coffee pot died, I decided to give in and buy a Bunn from Target. But I didn't buy the same model... I bought the thermal carafe brewer (for an updated look!), even thought it cost a bit more. <br /> <br /> I absolutely LOVE this machine!! I cannot believe how fast it brews the coffee. And the thermal pot keeps the coffee hot for hours, without the use of a burner, so the coffee always tastes fresh. I love the fact that I don't have to keep the pot with the machine - I can sit it on the kitchen table when company comes, because the bottom always stays cool. <br /> <br /> I like this machine so much that I'm encouraging people at work to get one as well! It is well worth the investment.

I found I did not like this product due to the fact that the lid for the coffee pot leaks all over when pouring coffee. ... Read more

The exteriors of the pans in this set are durable hard-anodized aluminum while a hard-anodized aluminum core distributes heat evenly through the pans without hot spots. Three coats of DuPont nonstick coating line the pan’s interiors. Circulon’s patented Hi-Low grooves protect the nonstick coating from wear by exposing only a small portion of the nonstick surface to cooking. 4-0 out of 5 stars Durable non-stick and attractive
My wife and I bought this set about 3 years ago and they are still nearly as good as new. We selected them over Analon and Cephalon because the saucepans and skillets have molded rubber handles. This makes it possible to handle the pots without using pot holders. My wife does the cooking and I clean up so I can tell you that she has never been able to damage or even get food stuck on the cooking surfaces.

One thing that you should understand about any aluminum or cast iron cookware is staining of the outside surface. Any oils or food that spill onto the outside during cooking will actually be absorbed into the metal surface creating a dark stain that cannot be removed. I consider this part of the seasoning of the cookware and not unattractive but people who like their cookware to always look new should consider stainless steel or something.

5-0 out of 5 stars Makes cooking fun!
I love these pans! I grew up using cast iron pans. I loved the way they cooked, but hated the clean up! I never have a problem with food burning or sticking on these Circulon Classic pans. Small bits of egg do stick, but wipe right out. Everyone always comments (postively) on the circles on the pancakes from the grooves. I left this set of pans behind after a break-up and now I'm buying the set piece by piece since I loved them so much. Sometimes I miss the pans more then the ex!

2-0 out of 5 stars They were great - for about 4 years!
I've had my circulon set for about 4 1/2 years now and I loved them, couldn't live without them, until a few months ago. They're becoming increasingly difficult to clean and are forming a sticky residue despite the fact that I've cared for them exactly as the maufacturer said. When looking for the Meyers web site to email them, I came across some complaints of the exact same nature by people who sent their cookware back to Meyers in hopes that they would make good on the lifetime warrenty and Meyers sent a form letter (!!) saying they obviously misused them and that the warrenty is void. Unless you're willing to shell out a few hundred dollars for pots every few years (I'm not!) look elsewhere.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome deal........ Great product
I bought this set (14 piece + the free 9 in skillet) for 170.00, just saw a similar set (only 10 pieces) at Sears for about 250.00. Have been cooking with the set now for a couple of weeks and my wife and I both love them. Easy clean up, no "hot" spots (even heating) and you could probably couldn't get super-glue to stick to them. I have absolutely nothing negative to report........... Great buy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very pleased
I am an All Clad user. While browsing for All Clad I came across the 14 pc Circulon set with bonus pan. It was over half what my mother in law paid for her ten piece set several years ago. What a bargain! I ordered it as a filler set of cookware. The box came rather quickly and the cookware is wonderful. As with any non stick cookware, you do not want to cook on high heat. As long as you can remember to keep your heating element on meduium or low you will be okay and will enjoy this item. Using high heat on a non stick surface is not good for your cookware or your health. ... Read more

Tough polypropylene handles with full, visible tangs and thetraditional three rivets distinguish Classic knives from W&uuml;sthof'sother cutlery lines. Otherwise Classic knives are identical to otherW&uuml;sthof knives, embodying all the virtues that have earned theGerman manufacturer world renown. The principal parts of a W&uuml;sthofknife--blade, bolster, and tang--are forged from a single piece ofhigh-carbon stainless steel, and the blade is precisely tapered frombolster to tip and from back to hand-honed edge. The blades andbeautifully formed bolsters are not as thick as on some knives. As aresult, despite their heft, strength, and durability, W&uuml;sthofknives are pleasingly delicate and marvelously balanced in action.

This 7-inch santoku is a Japanese cook's (or chef's) knife, featuring alow-tip style with a broad blade. The cutting edge is minimally curved,so it provides less rocking action than a European-style cook's knife. For straight-down slicing and precise chopping, however, it's superb.Alternating hollows on each side of the blade create air pockets, allowing slices to fall away cleanly. This knife should be hand washed.--Fred Brack ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Santoku Knife for Sushi, Sashimi, & Carpaccio
After being so pleased with a fine-edge Santoku knife that I use for chopping and slicing vegetables, I decided to add this hollow-edge Santoku knife to my collection of Wüsthof-Trident Classic knives. I've been using less-expensive Asian knives for a long time, but the Wüsthof Santoku knives have now become my favorites because of the shapes of the blades and the quality of the handles. On this hollow-edge Santoku, there are oval indentations or 'kullens' on the side of the high-carbon, no-stain steel blade, so you can quickly and easily make very thin slices of your meat, fish, and veggies. I use this Santoku for preparing sashimi and carpaccio. (I don't make sushi, but this knife would be excellent for that, too.) So far it has stayed very sharp without any need for professional sharpening. I hand-wash and dry it and store it in a wooden knife block.

5-0 out of 5 stars SPLENDID CHOICE FOR CHEFS OR AMATEUR COOKS
For those of us who love to cook much of our pleasure is experienced in the preparation - whipping egg whites to a perfect frothy peak, cutting cookies into imaginative shapes or slicing cleanly, quickly and neatly the ingredients for casserole or soup.

This Japanese inspired Santuko knife by Wusthof has certainly added to my joy in the kitchen. It's the perfect implement for slicing, dicing or chopping. Alternating indentations prevent food from sticking to the blade, while its heft and balance are perfection.

A razor sharp blade allows me to slice as thinly as I wish, whether it be for carpaccio or the prosciuto we so enjoy. It's ideal for the cheese and ham in panini, and makes quick work of onions and celery for a family recipe for vegetable soup.
Of course, an added bonus is the Wusthof name, which we have learned means quality.

I do recommend that you hand wash it, just as you would a fine piece of silver. Believe me, this knife is sterling in every way.

I have a set of OK knives that until yesterday I thought were pretty good. I've never had a really expensive knife before, though.
After reading all of the great reviews here of the Wusthof Santoku knife and seeing how popular it is on the Food Network (Yea, I know, I'm a little susceptible. I also have an Eggstractor)I went to the store to check one out. I couldn't believe how well-balanced and light it was, without feeling flimsy. I took the plunge and do not regret it a bit.
The first time I chopped up an onion it sliced through it with hardly any effort. I just stood there in awe.
It's incredibly sharp and feels comfortable in my hand. I also like the shape, kind of a cross between a chef's knife and cleaver. I suspect my old knives will be relegated to chopping up bones and other things that would damage this one. But for anything that requires a bit of finesse, I will reach for the Santoku.
Well, I think I've gushed enough.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Well Balanced!
This knife is fantastic. Makes the boring job of chopping a whole lot easier. One thing to be careful of though, when things stick to the sides of the knife, it is best not to use your finger to slide them off, it will get ya. Otherwise, I highly recommend it. It is worth every penny! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Good stealth washing machine for apt dwellers!
I've owned the machine for about a week now and have done a few loads of laundry. In each case, the machine does what it's supposed to efficiently, extremely quietly, and with almost no vibration. In fact, you can't even hear the motor during the spin cycle until it reaches it's maximum spin speed...and even then, it's quiet. In Manhattan, where people in most apartments aren't really supposed to have these things, that's important.

The machine comes in a rather large box and has an assortment of gaskets, hoses, and connections. The hoses can either connect to the sink via a quick connect adaptor (included) or screw into a regular faucet connector. It's got a hot and cold water inlet and many many options on the electronic panel. Since I only have a sink adaptor and thus one source of water I only use the cold water inlet, even for hot water. It seems just fine with this configuration. Contrary to one of the reviews, you can change the program once you've started; you only have to hit 'pause' and switch options...and the machine only beeps six times if you open the door. I think someone else said it beeped until you close the door. It feels almost like an actual full size machine, and will fit about 3 pairs of jeans, 3 shirts, some socks, underwear, and a towel easily in one load. Maybe even more, but I don't like to stuff it full.

This machine has a very decent size tub with a very small footprint. I believe 1.62 cubic feet is the tub size, and it does have an agitator in the center. It comes with casters and makes it into my 22" closet door just fine so that I can hide it and isn't too heavy either. It's not a high end washer, but it gets the job done and it does it intelligently. I peeked underneath the machine and it seems to be put together quite simply, so hopefully it will last.

It hasn't leaked a drop yet also, though the sink outlet connection is at the bottom of the machine, so have a pot handy to catch water when (if) you disconnect this hose from the machine.

I've estimated that this machine will pay for itself in 6 months, but as far as I'm concerned, it has paid for itself already. NO MORE LAUNDROMAT!!! In this case, you get more than you pay for.

4-0 out of 5 stars good machine
Cons: The body is metal, but inside tub is plastic. I don't think that matters much unless you wash clothes that have metal parts that may scratch up the plastic. The LED panel is intuitive, but I have to push the buttons real hard, which is a bit scary since the whole machine is useless if the control panel fails. The machine stops and keeps on beeping really loud if you open the door while it is going. Also, it doesn't allow you to change the settings once you've started.

Pros: Large enough for 2 people or bed sheets/small blankets. I find that the small or med load settings is sufficient for me (1 person). Clothes come out fairly dry after the spin cycle. There is a timer to let you know how long before the load finishes. There are 2 lint filters which works pretty well. The machine is pretty quiet (except when it beeps).

Connections: It allows easy connection to faucet (with quick disconnect adapter) or to regular washer hookups. I find that my bathroom sink doesn't empty quickly enough. Also, the discharge hose comes out on the bottom right side. I wished it comes out from the back instead to maintain the clean look.

I didn't get the service manual, so I called Haier customer service to see if they have an electonic version. Call was answered quickly. But, they wanted to charge me for a copy of the manual. So, if anyone can put a scanned copy online, please post the website. I'd really appreciate the help.

5-0 out of 5 stars great washer.Love it!
Love this machine!I bought this washer after my 15 year-old Maytag broke down.
After reading the reviews here, I decided to go for it.It is
more than I expected.Being in a digital age, I decided to get
this over the other model.
Light and easy to install, I was able to move the washer by
myself(as opposed to the heavy Maytag).
I connected the hoses incorrectly the first time but figured it out after awhile(red end goes into the washer)
The washer is quiet, wash my clothes clean and use a mimimum of
water. This washer would be suitable for a single person or a small family.Highly recommended!

1-0 out of 5 stars defective machine
when I received this machine, I couldn't believe my eyes.

It's steel cover has one obvious bump; only 4 of the 8 screwes of the bottom cover could be fixed; most importantly, the inside tub is off-center, the high speed roation obviously will damage the engine. We even dare not to try to use this machine.

Haier in china is a famous brand, don't understand why its branch in america produce such a shabby machine. What's more, we contaced the support line of Haier, they said they will come to have a look, but in fact never, delay and delay again.

this is the worst shopping experience I ever have in America!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars It is excellent
... I am satisified with the washing machine. It took me about 1-2 hours to read manual and install it. There is a small plastic part in the bottom of the shipping box, which is not a broken part, it is used to support the machine in shipping. You can put 4 wheels/casters on and then put on the bottom cover to reduce noise. When you return the machine in upwards position, don't forget to unlock the caster as you may break one caster clip as I did. But it can still be used to lock the caster. For tube connection, I just use one tube to connect to cold water inlet as my ketchen sink has only one faucet, which can provides hot/warm/cold water. The tube can connect directly to the machine. On the other end of tube, it is better to use the two big rubber washers included and then connect to the Quick sink faucet adaptor. The machine is very quite and works perfect. It is a wonderful buy. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Elegantly bold with a stainless-steel tank and black decor, this hot-water reservoir-style home brewer makes 10 cups of cafe-quality coffee in less than three minutes. The coffee brewer's specially designed stainless-steel inner tank, with its 800-watt heater and internal thermostat, keeps water at an ideal temperature for maximum flavor and fast brewing. A vacation switch is provided to completely shut off all electrical components when the unit is not being used for three or more days, but safety features, designed into the coffee brewer, make the daily use of this switch unnecessary. Whenever the brewer has been shut off or unplugged, the filled tank takes about 15 minutes to heat the water to the proper temperature before using. While coffee is being brewed, the newest water in the tank is heated to the proper temperature and held until needed so that hot water is always available. The unit's convenient sliding lid makes it easy to add water, while its custom spray head insures optimum coffee-flavor extraction. Brewed coffee is kept hot with the unit's durable, porcelain-coated, scratch-resistant decanter warmer, which is controlled by a lighted on/off switch. The only routine cleaning required is rinsing the brew funnel and decanter after each use and occasionally wiping the outside of the brewer with a damp cloth. For more thorough cleanings, the brew funnel and decanter are top-rack dishwasher safe. The coffee brewer measures 8-1/2 by 13-1/2 by 11-1/4 inches and carries a three-year limited warranty. --Catie Unger ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars THIS COFFEE MAKE IS AWESOME
We received this coffee maker as a wedding gift. My husband thought it was crazy that anyone would spend this price on a coffee maker when you can get one for $20. After tasting one cup of coffee from this coffee maker, he changed his mind! Because the coffee maker holds a reservoir of hot water, the coffee when it is brewed comes out hot. Most of the time with regular coffee makers, the coffee comes out luke warm and you have to nuke it in the microwave. Not with this one. We absolutely love this machine. No problem with set up or anything. We highly recommend it!

5-0 out of 5 stars This is the way to brew coffee
Over the last month I have purchased four coffee brewers and returned them while searching for the best machine I could find. When I received my Bunn, I was impressed with the quality and design of the machine right off. Once I made my first pot of coffee I knew this was the one I had been searching for. While this is the latest Bunn design for home use, it functions very similar to the more standerd version. The initial setup takes a bit of thought and preperation because unlike other brewers, the Bunn alsays keeps a pot of hot water ready to brew. So you first have to fill up the storage tank, then add another pot and only then turn on the machine and wait about fifteen minutes for it to warm up. Once you have accomplished the initial setup, making a cup of java is as simple as one, two, three. Just put your coffee in the filter, and place it in the holder, add the water and close the swivel top. Almost immediately you have coffee flowing into your pot. Ten cups in less than three minutes. Want another pot, just one, two, three again. Here are some of the things I noticed. Compared to other brewers, this one weighs more. I suspect that is do to the fact that unlike the cheeper brewers it is not all plastic, but rather has a stainless heating tank etc. The light which indicates the warming pad is active is lighted and easy to see from anywhere you roam. The unit comes with a Three Year warranty from the manufacturer. The pot has a wide mouth which makes it easy to clean. The warming plate is coated for easy clean-up. It is made in the good old U S of A. SUMMARY: If you want a well made, simple to use, coffee brewer that makes great coffee in less than three minutes. If you want to make a statement that you know about coffee and how to brew it. If you insist on quality, then this is the one for you. If on the other hand you want a bright red or blue designer piece of plastic, with little lights, a clock and timer. Perhaps even something that lets you know when the coffee is finished, then perhaps this is not your best choice. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Only one complaint
Well, technically, I can't complain. It does what it's advertised to do -- make a piping hot cup of coffee in about 90 seconds with foam on the top. Changing coffee brands took some getting used to. For a company that's been in business since 1753, Douwe Egberts has a few things to learn about coffee. It has a sour taste that always makes me wonder if my cream has gone bad. Folgers Home Café makes pods about the same size. I never thought I'd be drinking Folgers, but it tastes better than the coffee designed for the machine. Were someone to come up with a reusable coffee pod, I'd go through the extra bother to get an excellent cup again. My one gripe with the Senseo is that the spout is fitted too low to accommodate any of my coffee mugs. The spout should be adjustable to provide an extra 1/4 to 1/2 inch of space if needed. I looked at the two cups that came with the machine only long enough to judge their weight and balance so I could sail them across the kitchen into the trash container. I found just one mug in my kitchen short enough to fit under the spout, so now I drink my coffee from my son's Winnie the Pooh Happy Birthday hot chocolate mug. He stopped drinking out of that mug 10 years ago. (sigh)

5-0 out of 5 stars Time for a coffee break worth every sip
Let me stress that I don't work for the manufacturer or for Sara Lee!

I received my machine on 9 April 2004 and brewed a cup within a few minutes (after flushing the machine as recommended). Even the medium roast tasted richer than most coffee I've made with traditional coffee makers. My wife likes a milder tasting coffee, so the mild roast is perfect for her. The dark roast is the closest to espresso you'll get without spending hundreds on an espresso machine. The coffee is nice and hot and the "crema" layer on top completes the experience!

For those who gave this machine poor reviews, make sure you wash the pod holders and water tank and flush the machine before the first use. If you don't use it for more than a day, flush it before use with fresh, cold water. Be sure to use the correct pod holder and press the correct (4 oz or 8 oz) button. Place the pod with the flat side up(has the Senseo logo printed on this side). Use fresh, cold water (probably the most important ingredient in coffee) and don't reuse the pods! I tried this and the second cup tasted like "coffee from a can" coffee. Finally, and most important: give the coffee a stir before drinking. The bottom layer contains most of the good stuff.

I hope that other coffee roasters are reading these reviews and will offer pods. My only concern at this point is that there aren't any alternative pods from other roasters yet available. The Douwe Egberts brand coffee is excellent, but the availability of a variety of blends and beans will be demanded soon, because sales of this machine are sure to take off!

Enjoy!

4-0 out of 5 stars European coffee at its best
This is a great coffee maker if you like strong european coffee, which I do. The cup sizes are smaller than what most americans are used to, but the coffee tastes great, and more is not needed. I've been looking for something like this for ages. Glad I found it.

2-0 out of 5 stars Looks Good, Tastes Lousy
This machine looks great on the counter and you can't beat the convenience. You'll have 4 ounces (1 pod) or 8 ounces (2 pods) of the most mediocre and expensive coffee you could hope for in less than two minutes--from a cold start. Maybe it's not the coffee, but the process that turns out this cup of...whatever it is. I don't know. <br /> <br /> Maybe some other models make a better cup of coffee--and a real cup, not this dainty 4 oz toy cup. Try before you buy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Yeah BABY!!!
I got a Black & Decker home cafe for my birthday in September. Great coffee...well due to reviews on this site I kept the box and receipt (it was from Target..of course :). Well it worked <br /> for about 6 weeks...and then started spewing water everywhere. <br /> I boxed it up and took it back and decided I could be ok with <br /> my drip coffee maker...well here I am 1 week later...I was <br /> making my sorry drip coffee this morning and...long story short. I couldn't deal...so I went to target this afternoon <br /> and used my gift card (from the Home Cafe return) to purchase <br /> a nice black senseo. <br /> <br /> I have just finished my first cup of coffee from the Senseo and WOW. AWESOME. There is no contest between the coffee <br /> from the senseo and the coffee from the home cafe. The home <br /> cafe made lukewarm coffee...the senseo made coffee just slightly too hot to drink right away...PEFECT IMHO. I like <br /> my coffee to be good and hot when I first drink it.<br /> <br /> Also, the senseo is most certainly of higher qualite' than <br /> the B&D machine. It doesn't feel like it's going to fall <br /> apart when you touch it. I did take the advice of the <br /> reviewer who said to thoroughly clean and soak all the pieces <br /> before using the machine and I don't notice any strange chemical-like taste. <br /> <br /> Anyway, major thumbs up. I thought the home cafe would be <br /> nicer because you can get a 14 oz cup of coffee..but honestly <br /> 8 oz is PLENTY and really if you wanted 12 you can just <br /> brew an 8 oz cup and press the 1 cup button again and get <br /> your 12 oz. It would be nice if you could fit a travel mug <br /> in it...but I did get quite a large mug that I have under <br /> the spout so this isn't that big of an issue. <br /> <br /> I also find that one pod is enough even with 8 oz of coffee. <br /> It was quite strong (course I am an American and all so not <br /> used to drinking straight up espresso)....and just about <br /> perfect for my taste. <br /> <br /> Anyway, just wanted to let you all know I think the senseo is <br /> a great buy. Now if the pods would come down in price I'd <br /> be REALLY pleased. :) ... Read more

Product Description

The Super Air 8 Professional Air Purifier has a permanent filter system that quietly cleans the air in your home of allergens, dust and dirt - completely purifiying the air in a 900 square foot room every hour. The permanent filter cleans in just minutes with detergent and water; simply rinse and re-insert. An indicator light tells you when the filter needs cleaning. No need to buy expensive replacement parts time and time again. The money you save means the Oreck unit virtually pays for itself. Permanent Filter with 12-Year Guarantee Never Needs Replacing.Captures and Destroys Bacteria. HEPA filters found in other types of machines tend to hold moisture in, which actually breeds mold and releases it back into the room. HEPA filters act on the principle of a simple window screen and often pass through accumulated dirty particles which can be forced back out into the room. HEPA filters quickly clog and become ineffective. So they need to be replaced regularly and are costly. By contrast, the filtration efficiency of the Oreck Super Air 8 Professional Air Purifier is up to 95%. It traps particles as minute as 0.1 microns or one thousand times smaller than a single human hair. It will also capture mold, pet hair and dander, dust mites, common household dust and allergens. Once caught in the filter, bacteria cannot survive. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Different, but still good
I grew up with one button rice cookers. The kind I liked the best was one where you would put water on the outside of the rice pot as well as in the inside of the pot with the rice and then press the button. I don't think they make those anymore. Nowadays you have to keep the outside of the pot dry. Kinda a pain after you got it wet washing the rice.

Back when I was growing up we made delicious rice, rice porridge, steamed sausage over rice, steamed chicken and vegetables in broth, bean soup, etc. using the simple one button rice cooker. The trick for some of the dishes is to run the cook cyle twice to cook longer.

I mention all this to explain why just having a rice cooker cooking different things doesn't totally impress me. I'm used to having one that is simple to use and versatile.

With this background, I was a little bit disappointed in the ZAC10 rice cooker although I still think it is an excellent product.

This neuro fuzzy is CUTE. And it makes DELICIOUS oatmeal. It also makes cheaper rice taste better. The keep warm feature works perfectly -- no making a crust. I use the timer feature for oatmeal in the morning - very nice to have.

But it is also awfully SLOW. I'm used to the rice cooker cooking faster than the stovetop method but this one is just as slow if not slower. For 1 small cup of rice it takes 40+ minutes. The machine I grew up with took 20 minutes. Even the quick cook feature on this machine takes 30 minutes.

Theoretically you can't use this as a steamer according to the Ultimate Rice Cooker cookbook I also bought. That's too bad since I am used to steaming things in a rice cooker. I will play around with it though and see if that's really the case.

I am still torn about whether to get this for my motherinlaw this Xmas. She loves oatmeal but cooked in milk so the timer feature won't help her. But still, it makes delicious oatmeal without her having to stand and stir. And it keeps it warm for a long time. What's making me hesitate is that she doesn't eat rice that often and the buttons in the front are rather daunting. (It really isn't as complicated as it looks though) Also the manual has no good recipes. It doesn't even tell you if you can make oatmeal with milk or not in it. (You can.) On the web they have some and if I were to get this for her I would definitely print out some recipes to go with it. This would be an expensive gift not to be used.

If you eat rice alot or like rice, oatmeal, porridge, that kind of thing... a rice cooker is a must and this one is a great one. Just realize that if you're use to a one button rice cooker you'll be giving up simplicity.

FOLLOW-UP:
I have demoted this from a FIVE star to a FOUR star product. It still makes wonderful rice but disappointingly it doesn't handle oatmeal cooked in milk (1% fat). I've tried it three times now, two times on porridge cycle and this thing made a COLOSSAL MESS. Hubby said it's like a baby puked all over it, inside and out. The thing spewed oatmeal which stuck and dried everywhere (I got to it two hours after it went on keep-warm). Even though the inner part of the lid pops out, it still took nearly an hour to clean up the nooks and crannies of the thing. I definitely suggest watching it if you cook oatmeal with milk and maybe even opening it up several times to release the steam. Better yet, do it on the stovetop. Too bad because the oatmeal still left in the pot that it didn't spew out tasted fantastic.

To be fair to the recipe, I should say I used quick cook oats (1 minute type) instead of the steel cut slow cook type oatmeal. Maybe that made a difference. BUt if so, too bad because I still have a lot of the other kind of oatmeal to use up.

5-0 out of 5 stars Worth it
We hestitated for a while because of the price. But once we took the plunge and tried it out, we couldn't be happier. In the past, we've had both the cheap, one-button type and the microchip type, and if you have rice 2-3 times a week, you definitely want to go with the better model. (We pitched the cheap model immediately; the rice turned out part crusty, part mushy, part burnt.) The Zojirushi is an improvement on our previous microchip model because 1. it's easier to clean, with the lid-liner not accumulating scum and the inner pot having a rounded bottom, which is easier wipe clean 2. it has no "moisture catcher" to clean out 3. the inside pot has cool handles to lift out 4. there is a place to put the rice paddle (important!) 5. the rice paddle has nubs on it, with prevents rice from sticking to it. And, of course, it cooks brown rice very well! We're waiting to try the porridge setting - yum. We're completely happy with our purchase and wondered why we hesitated. (NB, All Zojirushi products we've tried have been superb, despite their generally higher prices.)

2-0 out of 5 stars Problems with altitude
I have purchased three NS-ZAC10 cookers within the last year. Two are being used by daughters living near sea level. They work perfectly. I use mine mostly at an altitude of 3,000ft and, at times, at an altitude of 7,500ft. The cooker works only adequately at 3,000 ft and poorly at the higher altitude.

I suspect something is wrong with the Fuzzi Logic programming, which should be able to sense the altitude by measuring the boiling point of water and extend cooking times accordingly. Fuzzi Logic is an incremental type of mathematical set theory in which the next step depends upon the success of the previous step. Not being able to cope with higher altitudes suggest a fault with the coding. And it spoils the general usefulness of the cooker.

Personally, I would welcome information from Zojirushi regarding how to adapt the NS-ZAC10 to high altitude cooking --- if indeed that is possible. I have no idea how to contact them. They don't appear to maintain a website.

Unless you live at sea level, don't waste your money. Buy a simple, inexpensive On/Off rice cooker where you can compensate for altitude by adding more liquid and extending the cooking time.

On the other hand, if you live near sea level, this cooker works well.

Amazon.com Review

Since the first Rowenta iron in 1912, the company’s clothing-care products have been on the forefront of innovative technology. The 1600-watt Perfect Steam iron continues Rowenta’s exacting standards with top-shelf construction and truly helpful features. Designed to iron dry or with variable steam, the iron has fine-tunable settings that let you choose heat according to fabric type, then set the steam level. The Intra-Steam system pushes horizontal steam deep into fabric. The iron also steams vertically for hanging clothes and draperies. A steam-burst button lets you blast stubborn wrinkles, and a spray function spritzes fabric as you go. Equipped with LED indicator lights, the handle-mounted electronic temperature control indicates when the soleplate is ready, too hot, too cool, or in automatic shut-off mode. All controls are easy to set, sturdy in construction, and unlikely to slip.

The Perfect Steam comes with a platinum soleplate for effortless glide and incredible durability. It has a sleek teardrop shape, a full-length button channel, and an anti-drip design. Rowenta also equips the iron with three-way automatic shut-off: after 8 minutes if left vertically, 30 seconds if left horizontally, and 30 seconds if tipped over. Large and comfortable in the hand, the iron holds up to 13 ounces of water at a time in a translucent tank. The tank’s opening is among the cleverest on the market--a tidy lid pushes in for filling and releases for closure. The iron also comes with an anti-calc system to trap scale and deposits that could interfere with its performance. Measuring 12 by 5 by 6-3/4 inches, the Perfect Steam is made in Germany, and has a full one-year warranty. --Emily Bedard

From the Manufacturer

The DX-9800 has been engineered around major technical innovations of the three core functions of an iron: heat, steam, and the soleplate. The Intra Steam system "pulses" the steam, creating the perfect cycle of steam and pressing. The Thermo Control system uses an electronic sensor that measures and maintains an even temperature in the soleplate.  The Platinium soleplate combines outstanding glide and non-stick, non-scratch properties. Its stainless steel core coated with ultra-thin silicate coating for a tougher, smoother surface with excellent non-stick and non-scratch properties.

The Next Level in Irons

The revolutionary Intra Steam system forces pressurized steam deep into the garment, "pulsing" the steam at regular intervals for the perfect cycle of steam and pressing. The DX-9800 has a number of other features designed to make ironing easier and more successful. The iron’s Thermo Control is an advanced electronic thermostat for accurate control of soleplate temperature. Also, the Anti-Drip function helps prevent spitting and leaking when thermostat is on a low setting, while the Anti Calc function neutralizes harmful minerals, extending the life of the iron, and the burst of vertical steam feature provides effective wrinkle removal on all types of fabrics.

This iron, like all Rowenta irons, is ergonomically designed for comfort, with thumb grips and index finger grooves, and easily used by both left and right handed user,. Its new comfort handles is soft and resilient, with silicon rubber pads that provide support and relieve pressure at key contact points between hand and handle. The non-slip texture and pattern provides a firm grip for precision control.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best iron out there!
I have tried many irons, most of which I passed on to my kids because they just didn't do the trick, spit water or soleplate got gunky. The Rowenta Perfect DX9800 is fantastic! I like the weight of it, and the steam penetration is the best out there...makes short work of wrinkles. I love it, wouldn't own any thing else! It's worth the extra money to have a quality iron.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Cadillac of Irons makes ironing fun!
I'm a guy, and I have to admit, when my girlfriend convinced me to purchase a new iron to upgrade my small travel iron for my shirts, I was skeptical and felt that spending more money was just wasteful. But I had a coupon, someone I knew recommended the Rowenta brand, and so I purchased this thing.

wow! It does a great job! Ironing is much easier and actually a little fun, as crazy as that sounds. This generates a ton of steam, it heats up very quickly and has a light to tell you when the it's ready for use. It is virtually spillproof as the there is a spring loaded top on the hole where you pour the water into the iron. It's heavy enough to provide some solid weight for the clothes, but not too heavy to make it difficult to move.

If you're in the market for an iron, try this one out and you won't be sorry!

3-0 out of 5 stars Rowenta leaks water
I have owned 2 other rowentas loved them but I think the new tank design is not very good because water leaks out when you are ironing. I liked the other design better. However it does iron beautifully.

1-0 out of 5 stars Do not buy it unless you can return it without penalty !!!
LEAKS IMMEDIATELY FROM THE OPENING FOR THE WATER WHILE YOU IRON !!! Did anyone ever test it when it was being designed ? To make matters worse, I didn't buy it from Amazon, and can only return it for store credit minus restocking fee. And what am I going to do with this store credit ??? Buy another Rowenta iron ?

Would you believe an Iron can change your life? This beauty have psychologically affected me tremendously, from someone who HATES ironing into a man who creates an occasion for ironing. 5-0 out of 5 stars Powerful mixer and QUIET too!
I love to bake, and so when I registered for wedding gifts, I saw an ideal opportunity to own a quality mixer (as opposed to the many cheap versions I've used in the past). I liked the basic appearance and features of this KitchenAid version, and after reading reviews of it here, I added it to our registry. This little mixer is tough and makes baking a breeze. The beaters appear delicate, but despite being lightweight, they can handle heavy dough without having the batter stick. The best thing about this mixer is the noise level--I have NEVER heard a mixer that is this quiet, making it pleasant to use even at the highest speed. This is an excellent quality mixer at a reasonable price, and it should be able to meet all of your baking needs.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Product!
Wow, I can't believe how great this mixer is. I bought it mainly to knead dough. The dough hooks worked just as well as a stand mixer that I had. They didn't hesitate at all. The mixer has a sensor inside that will compensate for the current to make sure it doesn't bog down. I kneaded on setting 4 for 2 minutes and the dough was better than when I used to do it by hand, and it was also better than with the Farberware stand mixer I had. I never got the impression that it was straining at all. It was also pretty quiet. It felt solid in my hand but not heavy enough to make it tired. It is a well-built product. The owner's manual has several recipes that look pretty good and even a few bread recipes.

I enthusiastically recommend this mixer to anyone who wants to knead dough.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great American-made mixer!
This is a great product. When I needed a new mixer, I chose this one for two reasons: (1) It is made in the USA, thus preserving jobs for American workers; and (2) It included dough hooks for mixing yeast dough. This is a quality product, and I would like to make a suggestion for those reviewers who said the beaters do not stay in. Look at the stems of your beaters or dough hooks carefully, and you will see that one is just a tiny bit wider than the other one. Insert one in the right slot first until it clicks. If it doesn't click, it is the wrong one, and you'll have to insert the other one. The remaining beater or dough hook should then click easily in the other slot. The click locks it in place. Unfortunately, Kitchenaid does not mention this in their user manual. Tonight I followed the "Basic White Bread" recipe in the manual and made a perfect loaf of bread. There was no tedious hand kneading, only a very short mixing time. It is truly amazing. I will make bread and rolls much more often, now that I have this mixer.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not impressed
We registered for this mixer on our wedding registry. I was excited to be getting a mixer that cost more than $12. I was SO disappointed by it, that I used it twice and then gave it to my mom. That thing was so slow, and had no power. I was thinking that maybe we just got a bad one, but after reading some of these other reviews, I think it's just the way this mixer is. Anyway, I replaced this Kitchenaid Mixer with a $19 Sunbeam from Target, and LOVE that one! Lesson learned: Just because it costs more, doesn't mean it's better!

3-0 out of 5 stars I want to love it, but...
I love Kitchenaid products, usually. But this mixer is more of a stirer than a mixer. It'll mix fine, and has lots of torque, but to whip anything? Forget it. You better have all day, this mixer is just geared improperly, plain and simple. Possible fix would be the add on whisks, but why should I have to buy add-ons to make this mixer perform as it should? Look for mine on the refurb rack, it's going back. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse kicks it up another notch with this stainless-steel cookware collection, following the success of his nonstick collection. Bam! This 10-piece set is a lustrous example of the stainless-steel collection, which is made by renowned cookware manufacturer All-Clad. Pots and pans are heavy-gauge, 18/10 stainless steel polished to a mirror finish outside and blessed with a satin finish inside to conceal utensil marks. To distribute heat uniformly and maintain it, there are thick aluminum disks on the bottoms covered in stainless steel so the cookware works on any stovetop, including induction. For elegance, the disks' edges are clad in copper.

The set consists of a 2-quart saucepan with lid; a deep, 3-quart casserole pan with lid; a 3-quart sauté pan with lid that's also perfect for braising; a 6-quart stockpot with lid; and 8-inch and 10-inch fry pans. The pot and pans display Emeril's signature on their cast-stainless-steel handles, which are riveted for strength, have thumb rests, stay cool on the stovetop, and won't be harmed by an oven's highest heat. The pot and pans' lips flare to facilitate dripless pouring. Made of tempered glass, lids allow cooking to be monitored without releasing heat. Stainless-steel bands around their edges prevent chipping and ensure a tight fit. Although Emerilware Stainless cookware is dishwasher-safe, hand washing is recommended. It carries a lifetime warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

5-0 out of 5 stars reasonable priced quality product
I don't normally purchase items that are endorced by celebrities. They are usually lower in quality in order to keep the price down. However, this cookware set is a quality product. Good weight, flat cooking surface and heats evenly. I like the glass lids, although I understand they are cheaper to manufacture. For the price you can't beat the quality and the All-Clad name. I researched other brands and I would recomend this product. By the way, a tip from my lovely wife, insert the corks from your wine bottles or champagne (for the larger ones) into the handles of the glass lids. It makes them easier (cooler) to work with.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great deal for the money
The Emerilware Stainless is great cookware for the price. I really wish people would understand that pots and pans that are NOT non-stick can not be treated as if they were nonstick.

First of all, you must preheat the pans and use some type of oil, fat, etc.

Second, do not overheat these pans. A little over "medium" is about all you need unless you're just boiling water. Anything hotter than that will often cause the metal to look blueish until it is properly cleaned. This is true of all stainless cookware I've used.

Also, the copper on the pot will tarnish because, IT IS COPPER. That's going to happen. So if you want the cookware to look nice and pretty then don't use them. If you actually plan to cook, this is some decent cookware at a decent price. (BTW, the copper cleans easily with Bar Keeper's Friend, or a common household solution such as lemon juice and salt).

That said, I prefer All-Clad. (I plan on becoming a chef, and I'm insistent on having the best)

3-0 out of 5 stars In response to "Scientific observation..."
For what it's worth, we had an aluminum pot that completely melted when the water boiled out (although we never thought to sue...sheesh!). It's entirely possible, and something I keep in mind to this day when dealing with aluminum on the stove. The melting point of various metals changes dramatically when alloyed with other metals. It's not a stretch to assume that an alloy is used by All-Clad, and that the alloy has a low melting point.

Just thought I'd add more information to the issue...

3-0 out of 5 stars Scientific observation - I Don't own the Pots (yet?)
(DISREGARD RATING ABOVE) I was researching All-Clad, Calphalon, etc., and read the review below alleging the "melted" Emerilware. Even went to the website and looked at the pics. This guy has GOT to be full of it. For the curious, the melting temperature of Aluminum (Al) is 660C, or 1,220 deg F (in case you forgot, water boils at 212F). Unless he was cooking on a plasma torch, there's NO WAY THE Al IN THE POT MELTED. Only possible guess(giving the LARGE benefit of the doubt) is someone at the factory filled the pot with Tin (SN) instead, which has a melt temp of 231C/449F (which you could 'potentially' hit on a stove) . Unless, of course, he's just cruising for an easy lawsuit.... Thought y'all should know...

5-0 out of 5 stars If you have a clue on how to cook or the value of things...
You'll like this set. You'll notice all the negitive reviews of this set are from people expecting cookware costing three or four times what you'll pay for this set or from people who can't cook. This set is well made, cooks well and is a bargin. You won't be sorry you bought it....unless your expecting something for nothing or cookware that cooks for you. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Steaming in the Carribean
I first used the Rowenta Steam Generator a couple of weeks ago while on a Radisson Cruise ship in the Caribean a couple of weeks ago. It was so much quicker than a regular iron and did such a professional job that I was actually enjoying ironing! There is tons of steam and that is what makes the process so fast and the results so professional looking. I bought one as soon as I got back and love it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally...the Perfect Iron
Ok I will be the first to review - and from a guy :) Let me start off with I iron all of my clothes which my wife stipulated before we got married :) Ok so being a guy I did not want to spend hours ironing my shirts plus I wanted them to look as if they came from the dry cleaners. I had the Rowenta Professional and honestly it was horrible. So I almost did not go with Rowenta but as I researched steam generators it came down to this and Euro-Pro. I decided to stick with Rowenta and I am glad I did. My ironing is a snap. The steam that comes out of this machine is unbelievable and that is what removes wrinkles. I highly recommend this iron if you want to cut your ironing in half. Also be sure and call Rowenta customer service and see if there is a rebate. I called with questions and then asked about a rebate they then sent out a form just from Rowenta - 20 bucks. Helps with the sting of a $200 iron :)

Pros:
1.STEAM!!! Lots of it and very powerful.
2.You can steam hanging garments.
3.Big water basin in the base so no more running out of water

Cons:
1. It is bulky. Can't hang on the wall :)
2. After about 15 irons you do need to rinse out the boiler. Very easy but price you pay for the steam.
3.Creates a rumble noise every once in awhile while the water is being injected into the boiler. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I love this machine!
I used this to make a custard based ice cream (recipe below) and it came out WONDERFULLY!The ice cream was done in 20 minutes and the consistency was fluffy. The recipe I made before (non custard) didn't thicken as nice, but I believe it was because it was not made with the custard base.I have uploaded a customer image of the maker in action near the end of the cycle.

*TIP*Make sure the bowl is completely frozen and do not pull it out until you are ready to pour the ingredients in.

Custard Base Recipe:

Ingredients for base - 4 egg yolks, 1 cup milk, 1/2 cup sugar.
For Ice cream - base, 1 cup fresh heavy cream, 2 teaspoons vanilla extract.

Directions - In a double boiler slowly bring milk to a boil.In a glass bowl mix together egg yolks and sugar until thickened.Slowly pour in the milk stirring constantly.Return to double boiler and slowly heat until thickened.(Mixture will stick to back of the spoon.DO NOT BOIL!Remove from heat and allow to cool.(I recommend putting it in the freezer for about 2 hours before using.)When the mixture is cooled mix in the heavy cream and vanilla.According to maker directions, turn on machine and slowly pour mixture in. If you want to add chips, fruit or anything else to the ice cream, do it about 5 minutes before the end of the cycle.Enjoy!

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome and Easy!
I purchased this after much debate about whether or not I needed a two quart ice cream maker or just go with the original Cuisinart $49.95 one. I am so glad i bought this one. It is so great. Easy to use, makes alot of ice cream,so sleek looking.

I have a tiny kicthen and everytime I turn around I am buying something that will clutter my counterspace, but I have to say this I don't mind. It is square, not to bulky and the cord fits nicely up inside the machine. It doesn't dangle or anything. It's right next to my KitchenAid.

I have made two recipes out of the manual that comes with the machine. I usually don't like "manual recipes" however, these are fantastic. The Mango Gelato was a huge hit with family and friends. One girl who doesn't like ice cream, liked it.The simple ice creams that dont require making a custard, you just mix all the ingredients together and freeze, I was thinking it would be terrible. It wasn't, so you can make ice cream in 30minutes from start to finish with those recipes.

I do keep the bowl in the freezer like others suggested with the smaller ice cream maker. It has been very useful to have it already frozen when I am ready to make ice cream.

As far as noise, it is not as quiet as I thought, but don't let that scare you. It's not like turning on a blender and leaving it running for 25 minutes. It's not an annoying noise. Not like the old ice cream makers with the ice and stuff. It is fun to watch it churn too. So the noise just fades to the background.

It's very interactive and a great thing to do with kids and company.

I really can't say enough good. One of the best appliance investments I have mad yet. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars nice flatware!!
I should have gotten two 12-piece sets as my family and I are very impressed with the quality of this product. The shiny luster of the flatware continues wash after wash and the balance and heavy feel makes this the choice for anytime use,(normal and fancy occasions). The pattern of FLIGHT was chosen because of rounded appearance and the product is nicer than we expected,(no sharp edges to jab into your hand. Very nice product....We are waiting for another sale to get another set(8pc+4pc) to give us a 24pc complete set. The extra serving pieces are equally nice.

5-0 out of 5 stars the perfect set...
I purchased a set of this flatware for my first house. I bought it for the versatility. It is classic enough for everday use, while still looking elegant for formal dining. In the 7 years I have used them, I have NEVER had a problem with craftmanship. Highly recommend this brand and style (espeically at this price). :)

3-0 out of 5 stars Good set for college students, but no long term use
Oneida brand flatware is very deceptive. They have been generally known as a quality brand, but over the past few years, they have marketed lower priced, lower quality flatware. Unfortunately, this is one of them. I purchased this set for college a few years ago and it defintiely did not last the test of time.

I really liked the look of the "Flight" set and thought that Oneida would be a quality brand. However, the flatware is very thin and light and were not heavy duty at all. They reminded me of cafeteria quality flatware...not something at a nice restaurant. Whenever I used them on anything that produced a little bit of resistance (like ice cream right out of the freezer), the flatware had a tendency to bend. Yes, that's right. BEND. Over the course of a few years, the spoons and knives were the hardest hit and some do look very warped. Every now and then I try to re-bend them back to the way they were, but alas it just doesn't look the same.

I recently purchased the Lenox Butler's Pantry 45-Piece Flatware Set and am much happier with this purchase.

5-0 out of 5 stars Oneida flatware
We have had it for years and we love it. Pretty enough for everyday and elegant enough for fancy grown up dinners.

1-0 out of 5 stars Knives are falling apart
We've had Oneida flatware for over 20 years with no problems at all. However, since we got their Flight pattern, 3 of the knives have fallen apart and several more are starting to go bad. By "falling apart," I mean that the blade of the knife has come loose or has pulled out of the handle entirely (this never happened with our older Oneida flatware). The blade section of the knife has a short piece that is embedded in the handle using some kind of white adhesive. This adhesive has crumbled in the three knives that came apart. It's hard to imagine a reputable manufacturer selling such a poor product. This flatware feels heavy and solid enough, but it is badly constructed and doesn't belong in my home. ... Read more

This powerful home steam vacuum saves you the expense and hassle of having to rent a steam cleaner and keeps rugs, upholstery, and bare floors (other than hardwoods) looking like new. The powerful 12-amp motor combined with five spinning brushes that operate at either high or low speed lift the usual dirt and grime out of carpets. By pulling on the trigger in the comfortable upright handle, this deep cleaner releases the included carpet/upholstery cleaner and hot tap water. For more stubborn stains or for high-traffic areas, this SteamVac also has a Clean Surge feature, which sends an extra blast of cleaning solution into the stain by simply pressing a button on the handle. When cleaning is complete, release the trigger and the SteamVac forces hot air into the cleaning path so you can do a few dry strokes over the stain. This deep cleaner has two separate water tanks to keep clean water apart from dirty water. The top tank holds the detergent and 1 gallon of hot water and automatically mixes the two so you don’t need to get your hands wet. The lower tank holds the dirty solution picked up from the carpet and unlatches to easily pour out into a sink without spilling.

For cleaning stairs or upholstery, this deep cleaner has a long 8-foot hose and a special stair/upholstery nozzle that scrubs out spots. Other attachments include a bare floor nozzle and a powered hand tool that is also ideal for upholstery or small carpet areas. All tools are mounted on the front of the vac in a handy case. Other features of this deep cleaner include a brush indicator, which informs you that the brushes are spinning; an on/off foot pedal; a handle release pedal; and a 27-inch wraparound cord. 5-0 out of 5 stars Hoover F5914-900 SteamVac is awsome machine
Hoover F5914-900 SteamVac is the best. I had Regina SteamCleaner for about 9 years until I bought Hoover F5914-900 yesterday. Hoover is made in USA and the quality shows in overall design and operation. This is as close as it gets to the Hoover pro machine I rented once that sells for $1099. Amazing cleaning power with 12amp motor and ease of operation. Quality heavy duty durable plastics used, makes it a better value all together. Consumer product still made in USA, not China or Mexico is worth the price tag itself, you will not find a better value in this price range. I looked at Bissell machines also but did not like its overall design, somewhat cheap thin shiny plastic look and low web review ratings.

Use as directed with hot water to loosen the dirt, and go slow give the machine chance to break the dirt and suck it out from the rug. Tanks are smaller than in the pro machine, but machine is lighter and smaller than $1099 Pro Hoover SteamVac monster.

1-0 out of 5 stars Only worked once
Because my Hoover, Model F5866-900, very similar to this one, had such poor relaiability, and, the machine only worked fair one time, then didn't work right again, I vowed to insure people knew they had better use the machine a lot during the first year after purchase. It was unfortunate, but after doing a thorough cleaning, I had my carpets professionally cleaned six months later, and didn't get back to the Hoover for over a year. I would have had to schlep it 200 miles to their service center, and then pay again for a machine that was pretty bad by my estimation. One use is pretty expensive.

5-0 out of 5 stars awesome
Let me say that I have never written an online review before, but this product merits it. I borrowed this cleaner from a friend. We have a beige colored carpet and have never cleaned it in 3 years. I thought it wasn't that dirty because we remove our shoes in the house. Well, this vacuum made me realize that it was really dirty. I put hot water in and did not use cleaner(Ididn't want to leave a residue). I went to work. It does a great job of sucking up the majority of the water. The spin brushes made my carpet stand up and look newer again. I did pre treat the bad spots, but it got up most of the small spots on it's own. I thought it was easy to fill and empty. The reward I got from looking at all that grimey water was all the reward I needed. Needless to say, I will be purchasing this from Amazon. My friend has had it for 2 years and uses it all the time. So will I.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Vacuum!!!
I purchased the Hoover steam vac to help clean up all the puppy stains in my carpet. I have tried those portable vacuums that you can get in the pet shops, I must say this hoover vacuum did wonders for my floors and stairs. It is very easy to use while cleaning. The only reason I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 is because it is hard to take the canisters off and put back on for dumping and filling. I would defentley recommend this product over those portable vacuums.

5-0 out of 5 stars Run - Don't Walk and get this machine
I have two dogs and messy people in our home. After contacting a local carpet cleaner to do a wool area rug I have at the exhorbitant price of $180, I decided that for that price, I could get a steam cleaner and do it myself. I did a lot of research before getting this.

What a great machine this is because of the turbo brushes. They get deep down into the fibers and really scrub and clean the rug. The colors popped as if new again. I did every rug in the house. I too boiled some the water I added to the machine so it would stay hot while I worked. It is pretty easy to set up and use as well.

To the person who gave this a bad rating I say " This is not a Vacuum Cleaner." This is a carpet steamer/cleaner. You have to vacuum your rugs BEFORE your clean them..... Read the instructions.

I think you will use and like this machine and be very glad you got one. ... Read more
