Amazon.com Review

Hoover’s latest canister stands out for its design-savvy looks, not to mention the fact that it cleans with powerful WindTunnel technology. Dirt particles are cleverly ducted away from the spinning agitators to ensure they’re captured in the bagless dirt cup and not sent back out onto the carpet. The HEPA filter traps minute allergen particles and conveniently removes for cleaning. Large, soft wheels allow the compact 12-amp vacuum--which looks like it could play a robot extra in Star Wars--to maneuver easily. Best of all, the handgrip features electronic control buttons for power on and off, variable suction (allowing smooth transition from wood floors to area rugs), and agitator action speed for carpets. Tools are easily attached to the telescoping wand, making it a snap to switch from cleaning floors to using drape and upholstery tools. A one-year warranty covers this unique vacuum against defects. ... Read more

Features

  • The WindTunnel Power Nozzle styling has a low profile design for cleaning in those tough-to-get-at places and incorporates the effective WindTunnel technology.
  • The wide 15" nozzle cleans more carpeting per stroke than a traditional 12" nozzle. Edge groomers mounted on both sides of the nozzle help loosen dust, dirt and unsightly lint that collects along baseboards.
  • Deluxe Pump Handle design allows for near effortless control and operation of the WindTunnel Bagless Canister. Electronic Finger-Touch Variable Speed Control provides flexibility in varying suction based on cleaning needs. 3 Speed Settings.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fab Light canister vacuum
We just got this today and it took a couple of minutes to put it together and it is SUPER FAST. It works so well and is so light. Even our 7 year old daughter tried it out and liked it :)

It changed from the carpet setting to hardwood floor with ease. It also has a suction control button. The attachment for our stairs (we have a three storey house) is fantastic. It has the option to have the brush rotate or not just like the usual floor attachment. Very easy to change attachments.

Very happy with this purchase so far. It is day 1, though.... ... Read more

West Bend has improved on the classic corn popper design by adding a motorized stirring rod which ensures that every single kernel pops, every time. In about five minutes, the Stir Crazy Popper produces up to 6 quarts of perfectly popped corn, using one tablespoon of oil per 1/4 cup corn. It stops automatically when it's done, so you don't have to worry about burned popcorn, and you can clean it with just a quick swipe of the sponge. For added flavor, place a bit of butter in the butter well to melt over the corn as it pops. The plastic cover doubles as a serving bowl, so when the cycle is done, just flip it over to enjoy popcorn that's guaranteed to be good to the last pop. --Larisa Lomacky Moore ... Read more

  • Classic design with modern technology
  • Motorized stirring rod helps pop every kernel
  • Pop 6 quarts of popcorn in 5 minutes

5-0 out of 5 stars A Stirring Recommendation!
I'm on my second one of these, having lost one in a move many years ago.

I've had a number of popcorn poppers 'cause I'm a true fan, whether unadorned popcorn or 'fancied up'. When the hot air poppers came out about 20 years ago I bought a couple of them, but they always seem to make chewy popcorn that'll stick in the back of your throat. I've got a mint-condition Mirro aluminum electric popper from the sixties and it'll burn corn in the bottom before you can turn around.

West Bend used to make this same type popper but without the stirrer. I had that one also, and it still left a fair number of kernels at the bottom.

The stirring rod is what makes the difference with this popper. Not only will it pop more kernels in ANY brand of popcorn, but it will pop far more with the less expensive brands like Jolly Time. It's typical to get no more than a tablespoon or less of unpopped kernels. The popcorn turns out perfectly done, from the earliest to the last popped. If you look at the photo, the disc on the top is a removable cover; under there is an indention with multiple holes. You can take butter or margarine and spread it around when you set the machine up. Then, as the machine starts popping, the steam melts the butter and it goes on the corn! Or, if you prefer buttering later, just leave the lid on. When the corn is popped, you simply flip the appliance over and the large dome becomes the serving bowl.

The dome and the disc on top have been through my dishwasher dozens of times without any problem. If I hand-wash it, it always feels a little greasy. The bottom, heating part of the appliance is nonstick; you simply wipe it out with a soapy dishrag or paper towel. Couldn't be easier.

This appliance is light in weight and fits fine in one of my overhead cabinets. For only a small amount of oil, it'll make six quarts of the best popcorn you can find! Plus, its tolerance to less-expensive non-gourmet corns means you'll spend less money. Highly recommended!

5-0 out of 5 stars The only way to make perfect popcorn
Aha!! Finally a chance to tell you about best popper ever. I won one at work in `81`. Had it for 15/16 years. Worked great. Rave reviews from friends, many requests. Love the stirring rod. Hardly ever an unpopped kernel... I use 3 tbsp oil to 1/2 cup corn-- the cheap stuff. Gives a buttery flavor, without using the holes on top, and pop with the lid off. When first one bit the dust (due to negligent cleaning) went immediately to K-mart for another ( still working) Now you can't find them in stores, or websites till went to Amazon. Another thing I do is I have a can with strainer and pour bacon grease in, refridge, and use it instead of oil. Try it--Yummy. I'm now buying one for my Mom and one for brother and family for Christmas. Hate microwave popcorn - dry and burn tasting. Hot air ones the same..
Stir Crazy is best popper (or small appliance available) also don't tighten the stirring rod down too tight - just snug.
Enjoy the movie --

5-0 out of 5 stars Tried & True... Best home machine out there!
I grew up with a Stir Crazy popcorn popper as a kid. I still have an original and it's over 20 years old! I did have to replace the lid once, due to dropping the old one. The remarks about the nonstick surface peeling off are true but not a big deal. I've never experienced any negative effects due to this! The use of the oil is akin to seasoning a cast iron pan.

It's gone in & out of fashion in my family over the years, but we still can't find anything that does a better job, short of a commercial popper. So many people out there are interested in faster, unattended popping. Part of the fun IS taking the time to relax and enjoy watching the Stir Crazy perform! How many kids will have fond memories of sitting in front of the microwave and watching a bag? Think about it!

I'll continue to use ours until it's life is over. I am also going to order a replacement, just in case it is no longer available for some reason in the future.

Buy it, Pop it, enjoy the show! You won't be sorry!

5-0 out of 5 stars This thing makes the best popcorn!!!
I love the taste of the popcorn that this makes! Of course, you have to add the fattening stuff to it by adding oil to the popcorn so it can cook the popcorn properly and not burn or scrape the nonstick bottom off, then also for the best taste, add the powdered popcorn flavorings(add it to the oil and kernals before cooking). But anything that tastes good is fattening, right?!? They do eventually wear out and you have to get a new one if you like them. Easy to clean. I remember buying one a very long time ago (like 7 years or so ago) for my stepdad and he is now in need of another one. But not too bad for the price to last that long with a lot use on it. I certainly recommend this for the best popcorn. If you prefer the less healthy, but better tasting popcorn! Stick with the air poppers if you eat healthier!

5-0 out of 5 stars This Is The Way To Make Popcorn!
West Bend's "Stir Crazy" is the way to make popcorn. In a few minutes the popcorn comes out light, with very little unpopped or burnt. With multiple batches the popping time drops. Butter can be placed in the top or butter oil can give the flavor. We have tried other methods, but none match up. This is the best! ... Read more

Emblazoned with a sweet butterfly and wildflower motif, this summery dinnerware pattern is versatile enough to serve everyday meals or stand in for special occasion dining. Perfect for an average family, this set packs six 10-3/4-inch dinner plates, six 9-inch salad plates, and six 12-ounce mugs. Made of fine china, the dinnerware has a beautiful reflective quality to its ivory base color yet is surprisingly durable enough to go from the freezer to the oven to the table without damaging and is also safe for the microwave and dishwasher.

Based on designs from Lenox artist Louise de Luyer, Butterfly Meadow's dinnerware set mixes and matches a variety of meadow scenes, each featuring a species of butterfly with a different bloom. Among the pictured butterfly varieties, there are colorful Swallowtails, Monarchs, Eastern-Tailed Blues, Orange Sulphers, and even a dragonfly here and there. Avid gardeners will also be able to spot favorite flowers, which range from morning glories to lilacs to tiger lilies. Each scene is a bit different from the next, adding to the charm of this country-style dinnerware. Graceful scalloped and ridged edges on plates and mugs lend an additional feeling of innocence to this pattern. This dinnerware set matches other crystal, flatware, and serving pieces in fine china and sculpted metal within Lenox's Butterfly Meadow collection. --Cristina Vaamonde

5-0 out of 5 stars So Easy to Use
When my West Bend cooker arrived, I was disappointed. The lid didn't seem to fit tightly and the pot was so light I thought it couldn't possibly work correctly. I was very wrong. The lid still steamed up when the items cooked and the temperature must be perfect because I haven't cooked a bad meal yet. I never thought I'd be so excited about using a slow cooker but the time it saves is amazing and the recipes can be as easy or as complicated as you want to make them. There's nothing like coming home to the aroma of dinner cooking after a long day and knowing all you have to do is serve dinner. In addition, the lightness, the non-stick surface and the fact that you can just pop the pot on the stove to brown meat or in the frig when you're done, without dirtying another container or another pot when you reheat it, is such a timesaver. Knowing I didn't want to be bothered peeling potatoes in the morning, I cut up vegetables at night and cooked stew over night, put the pot in the frig before going to work and just heated it up at night. You can't do that with the old fashion crock pots.

My only complaint is that the cord is very short, but everything else is great.

5-0 out of 5 stars Really nice!
This is a much better product than a Rival crock pot. For one thing, it will do so much more ("Versatility" is a good name for it). You can, for example, brown your pot roast in it on your stove before setting the pot on its heating base to slow cook. Hence, fewer pans to clean up. I consider the variety of settings a plus. More choices means more control. Also, the "keep warm" settings come in really handy. I haven't used the heating base as a griddle but it's nice to know I have that option. The only thing I don't like about it is the chord length- it's a bit on the short side. Other than that I love it! Everything comes out tasty. It's easy and convenient to use. It's easy and convenient to clean. It's even light weight!

Oh, well, in all fairness I guess I should mention some things the Rival is equiped to do that the West Bend is not: 1) the Rival pot can break if you drop it or subject it to sudden significant temperature change. 2) The Rival handles on the heating base can crack and eventually crumble into small pieces. (Mine did.) 3) Since it weighs so much, the Rival can probably get you into pretty good shape if you lift it enough times. (I use hand weights myself.) I mention these things just in case someone is looking to pay money for this sort of thing. (Well, you never know!) However, in my opinion these are not desireable features in a slow cooker so it's just as well the West Bend doesn't have them. : )

I hope this information helps you make a good decision!

5-0 out of 5 stars It's the best
I must start off by saying two things. I was always against Crock Pots - they reminded me on something my grandmother would use. Also I am a certified chef who loves to cook so I know food. That said I have started a new job (not a chef) and I am getting home later in the evening and this slow cooker was suggested to me as a means of having a hot meal when I got home as opposed to waiting an hour and not eating until 7 or 8 in the evening. I was really getting tired of having to cook for an hour once I got home instead of spending that quality time with my family or just a bit of relaxation time for me. So I tried it. I am now a follower!!! I love this slow cooker. The top has only fallen in once and I have had it for a month, so that is no problem for me. It only fell in because i was putting it on incorrectly. Yes it may seem a little thin at first but it really holds up and cleans very easily. I like the thinner design because it's easy to get in and out of the cupboard as oppossed to the older ones that needed to be lugged from place to place. I love the fact that I can brown meats ahead of time and it can go in the oven. I now do not need to purchase a new dutch oven. 2 pieces of cookware at once!! It cooks very evenly and I use it at least 3 times a week. Everything has come out wonderful and my picky 8-year old has not complained once. I really do recommend this slow cooker. Especially for busy moms.

5-0 out of 5 stars Not that "Versatile"
It's my first slow cooker and I love it. It's easy to clean, light-weight, and cooks evenly. I have not had any problems with the lid because thanks to reviews on this site, I have been very careful. As far as browning ingredients in the pot before slow-cooking is concerned I have found the surface area a little too small for proper browning- so, if you wanted to brown 1 cut up chicken you wold have to do it in 2 or more batches otherwise you'd end up just stewing it (which doesn't save you any time).

5-0 out of 5 stars I recommended
This slow cooker is light, versatile, and EASY to CLEAN! It ALL goes into the dishwasher (except the heating element of course). Its a good size for a family. I would buy it again. ... Read more

This multipurpose tool created a stir in the kitchen when it came out, as the food processor did a generation earlier. In order to blend, whip, and chop smaller amounts of ingredients, it's no longer necessary to wrestle with bulky appliances. Immerse the 7-1/2-inch blender shaft, with its little blade on the end, into a pot where vegetables have been simmering, press the switch, and in seconds a creamy soup appears--with no need to dump everything into a big blender. Blend sauces and baby foods in their cooking pots, too. Blend a milk shake or juice drink right in its drinking container, or in the 2-1/2-cup beaker included in this set. Whipping cream and egg whites is just as convenient: a 5-inch whisk attaches to the motor when the blender is removed. For chopping nuts, herbs, garlic, or onions, there's a 2-cup chopper bowl with a special blade. The motor with the attached blender shaft can be mounted on a wall (mount included). Everything but the motor and the chopper-bowl top (both should be wiped with a damp cloth) can go into the dishwasher. This tool is more than handy, it's a revolution. The instruction sheet, unfortunately, is harder to comprehend than the tool is to use. --Fred Brack ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars What a Godsend!
No, I'm not kidding. This handy little guy has saved me counter space, time and cleaning up. I am able to make cakes, muffins, great tasting pure fruit juices in an instant. I thought that this little gadget wouldn't be able to live up to its promise, but it's proved me wrong. I bought it out of desperation, after my Moulinex broke down. The first thought in my head was "what about counter space?" Well, Mr. Braun made sure he left nothing out. Because of his great mind, the device comes with a wall mounting so you don't have to clutter your counter with clumsy top-heavy things.

I read in a review for this product that it doesn't last. What could possibly be wrong with this when you need to chop something really fast? Like any normal person, I use the device, clean it and put it away. Simple as that! You can even go as far as using it and putting it back in the box. That is what I did up til the time the wall mount was set up.

Now I can watch my weight, drink homemade milkshakes, and chop away at those tear jerking onions without shedding a single tear.
And, when I'm done, I just rinse everything in the sink and clip it back onto the wall til the next time.
No more fuss having to make the perfect omelet either. With the handy wire whisk, you'll have a nice fluffy omelet in no time.

Watch out for how much pressure you apply to the speed accelerator button, because you may find your cake mix blending in pretty well with the paint on your wall. In that case, avoid using a shallow bowl. Use a deeper mixing bowl, bigger than the size recommended for your ingredients.

Happy cooking! Hope my review helped you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Powerful gadget with no Mess!
These days it's hard to really brag about a product, especially something as silly as a blender. Well, here I am, ready to brag about it. Just received it today, and I was very impressed with its performance. I work out almost every day, and I need to be consuming about 3 large shakes a day. I use to stir about 2 cups of powder and milk for about 3-4 minutes each time I had to make a shake. Every single time, since the shake had to be super thick, I'd get nasty big CLUMPS all over, it was a disaster and something I never looked forward to. This gadget, however, is a gift sent from god I tell ya! Less than 10 seconds ( no exaggeration) and the thing just turned into liquid, CLUMPFREE, it tasted so damn good. BUT, yes there's a BUT... the BEST part was that it only took another fifteen seconds to clean!... Cleaning blenders three times a day everyday could be a nightmare, but with this gadget it's a beautiful thing. If you need a blender everyday this is for you.

4-0 out of 5 stars Detachable system works the best
I've had a Braun one-piece hand blender for about 12-15 years that has worked very well. My wife saw this model somewhere and bought it for me for one simple reason: I was always complaining about the non-detachable model being dangerous if you left it pluged in.

Since the blades are exposed, any pressing of the button will chop anything in its path, and that includes fingers. Now, with the new model, it can stay pluged in and safe, since it stays detached until use (at least in my case). Of course, none of this speaks to this thing being much easier to clean than the previous one. I detach after use, run under hot water, then place on a paper towel to dry. If I'm in a hurry, I just drop in a water-filled glass in the sink and deal with it later. It doesn't stain, even with blueberries, so there isn't a need to deal with it immediately. However, I would not recommend putting this in the dishwasher. There's no need to and the prolonged heat might damage it. That's just my suspicion. At any rate, cleaning the old one required attention to it immediately after use.

Anyway, I use this thing almost daily for protein shakes (smoothies). I'm considering a smoothie maker since I want something to make in the morning and have made for several more shakes during the day. However, even with a smoothie maker, I'll still use this Braun blender on stuff that would create a mess in the smoothie machine. For example, one shake I make with protein powder, milk, a few small ice cubes and peanut butter. I swear that tastes just like a melted Blizzard from Dairy Queen, for those of you that have had them. You would NOT want to make anything with Peanut butter in a smoothie maker or blender. With the Braun, its a snap!

2-0 out of 5 stars Trust me, it's not worth it.
I was initially very happy with this blender. I probably used it no more than twice a week for fairly low-powered jobs like making pesto and blending soup. 14 months after purchase, the motor just died, literally in mid-blend. I thought it had gotten overheated and left it for a couple of days. No luck. It was fully dead, and so was the 1-year warranty.

So I called Braun. I admit I was hoping they would offer to give me a replacement motor unit. Nope. I asked about repair, but apparently, nobody fixes things anymore. Nor do they offer recycling. What they do offer is a heavy pitch to buy a whole new Braun blender set, even if all the attachments for your old one is perfectly fine. I had to argue with them for 15 minutes before they decided that they would just let me buy a new motor unit off of them for $20.

A week later I got a box from Braun with... a whole new set of attachments. Not the motor unit. Needless to say, I'm never buying another Braun product again. If somebody wants the used attachments (whisk, chopper, blender, smoothie container), they're yours.

5-0 out of 5 stars love this!!
The blender is REALLY POWERFUL and easy to use!
Clean up is extremely easy, since the blender wand is removeable and can even go in the dishwasher. ... Read more

For keeping track of time, themonitor is equipped with a radio receiver tuned to the U.S. atomic clock; thisenables the monitor to maintain split-second accuracy by automaticallyadjusting, if necessary, to the atomic clock's signals six times every 24 hours. From those signals, the monitor also displays the date, the day, and the timezone for which the user has set the clock. Also, the clock automatically adjustsfor daylight saving time and for leap year. The monitor beams the time and theoutdoor temperature onto a wall or ceiling in large, red numerals for easyreadability. If the monitor is in battery-mode (four AA batteries included),pressing the clock's snooze bar will beam the data for five seconds. If themonitor is plugged into a wall socket with an AC adapter (included), theprojection will be available either for five seconds with the snooze bar orcontinuously if a continuous-beam control is set. The projection beam comes froma device mounted next to the clock. The device pivots so the beam can beprojected onto any surface, and a dial focuses the beam for clarity. You canalso choose to have the temperature displayed in either Celsius or Fahrenheit.--Fred Brack ... Read more

Although there are some cool features on this clock, it doesn't do all that it should. I'll simply list the pros and cons and you can decide for yourself.

Pros:
- you can instantly know the weather outside and the temperature inside.
- the forcast prediction and graphics are remarkably accurate.
- projection on ceiling is very cool at night - you can look straight up as you lie in bed and know the time.

Cons:
- even though it plugs in, the clock runs on batteries. the plug is only for the projection part.
- the alarm wouldn't wake up the lightest sleeper - it's just a little beep like your microwave makes. it just makes them more often as you sleep through it.
- the projection doesn't work at all if any light is on in the room and it's really only usefull on a perpendicular surface - otherwise it's stretched and half out of focus.

So as a second clock and something neat to have, this is fine. Don't get it as your primary alarm clock if you want to make it to work on time and not get fired :-)

5-0 out of 5 stars ITS THE BEST BED SIDE CLOCK EVER !!!
The projection is awesome! The alarm starts quiet then gets loud enough to wake anyone (except the dead or the laziest). The weather forcasting works great never wrong. Knowing the time and outdoor temp as soon you open your eye's right on the ceiling or wall is wonderful! Never needs to be set I receive the signal fine and I live in northern rural Minnesota. Buy it you will love it.

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT!!!
I had this for a year now, and I NEVER had a problem with it. *Knock wood*. It does what it says, and it is very accurate, and the weather forecaster is pretty acurate too. A must buy!

4-0 out of 5 stars Too Little....
Love the clock but wish the buttons were a little less cumbersome - hard to manipulate with just one hand. Indoor temp. reads a little high. Perhaps the projector heats the internals. Other than that, the time and outdoor temp. on the ceiling is quite entertaining!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great idea; poor design
I bought this clock for my technophobic mother and she loves it. The display on the ceiling is ideal for her; she is severely near-sighted in one eye and almost blind in the other. She can see the display on the ceilng in the middle of the night without any problems. In addition to the display, she appreciates being able to see the temperature, both inside and out.

Another feature of this clock that is ideal for her is that the regular display is only lit when you want it to be lit. There are no glaring red numbers staring at you all night. When you want to see the time/temp, press the snooze button and the display lights for a few seconds.

Now for the negatives of this great little gadget. It is very lightweight and the buttons sit smoothly at the bottom of the clock. It is difficult to tell one button from another or to even push the buttons to set the alarm, view, etc. Raised braille like nobs on the buttons would be helpful as well as making the base wider so it would be more difficult to knock it over. Also, if the clock is running off battery, you have the option of displaying the time on the ceiling only when you press the snooze button. However, if you use the A/C adapter, you're choices are continuous display or no display. The slide switch that controls this is on the side of the clock and is difficult to find by feel.

Despite the few shortcomings of this clock, I still think it's wonderful and recommend it to anyone who is tired of squinting at glowing red dots to see what time it is; who wants to know the temperature both inside and out; and who always wants the correct time. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

The bestseller among All-Clad's renowned cookware collections, the Stainless line provides serious and professional cooks all the virtues that make All-Clad's worldwide reputation unsurpassed. Key to its high performance is a three-ply, bonded construction. Sandwiched between layers of stainless steel is a thick core of pure aluminum that spreads heat evenly across the bottoms of pots and pans and all the way up the sides. The interior is highly polished 18/10 stainless steel, so it's stick-resistant as well as stain- and corrosion-resistant. The exterior is made of gleaming, magnetic stainless steel that works on induction as well as conventional stovetops, and, with care, remains beautiful during this cookware's lifetime warranty against defects--and beyond.

This nine-piece set of Stainless cookware consists of a 10-inch fry pan with a layer of scratch-resistant, professional-grade nonstick coating bonded to the interior steel layer; a 2-quart covered saucepan; a 3-quart covered saucepan; a 3-quart covered sauté pan; and a 6-quart covered stockpot. Polished 18/10 stainless-steel pan and lid handles are riveted for strength and grooved on the top for comfort. Both the lids' handles and the pans' long handles (holed for hanging on hooks or pegs) stay cool on the stovetop but won't be harmed by an oven's highest heat, although the nonstick pan should not be in an oven hotter than 400 degrees F. This Stainless cookware is dishwasher-safe, but hand washing is recommended, and it's essential for the nonstick pan.--Fred Brack

From the Manufacturer
All-Clad Stainless Construction
Each piece of All-Clad cookware features a unique metal bonding construction. All-Clad Stainless cookware sandwiches a thick core of three separate layers of aluminum between an easy-to-clean, highly polished 18/10 stainless-steel cooking surface and a magnetic stainless-steel exterior. The aluminum core retains heat and evenly distributes it along the bottom and up the sidewalls of the cookware. The stainless interior is stick-resistant and cleans easily. The magnetic stainless-steel exterior gives the cookware a gleaming finish. All-Clad Stainless also features the company’s signature "stay-cool" long handles, lids fashioned from gleaming 18/10 stainless steel, and highly durable stainless-steel rivets. All-Clad Stainless cookware is one of five collections from All-Clad Metalcrafters. Designed to work on conventional gas and electric ranges, as well as induction cooktops, All-Clad Stainless cookware is the best-selling collection in a full line that includes All-Clad LTD, Cop-R-Chef, Master Chef 2, and Copper Core.

Features and Benefits
All-Clad pans with a stainless interior cooking surface are oven-safe up to 500 degrees. All-Clad pans with a non-stick cooking surface are oven-safe up to 400 degrees, but should not be used under the broiler. We recommend using a low to medium temperature when cooking with All-Clad. Higher heats are not necessary and may cause discoloration (see cleaning instructions below). Other features include:

  • Beautifully polished, magnetic stainless exterior layer.
  • Pure aluminum core that not only covers the bottom of the pan but also extends up the sides. This allows for great heat conductivity as well as an even heat distribution so you won’t have "hot spots" when cooking.
  • Stainless-steel interior layer/cooking surface.
  • Long, polished stainless, stay-cool handles.
  • Sturdy, non-corrosive stainless-steel rivets won't react with foods.
  • Polished stainless-steel lids fit evenly with the pan’s edges to seal in flavor of your foods.
  • The All-Clad Stainless collection is compatible with an induction stovetop (with the exception of a few pieces) in addition to gas and electric stovetops.
  • The Stainless collection is dishwasher-safe, excluding pieces with a nonstick cooking surface.

Warranty
From date of purchase, All-Clad guarantees to repair or replace any item found defective in material, construction or workmanship under normal use and following care instructions. This excludes damage from misuse or abuse. Minor imperfections and slight color variations are normal.

Cleaning Instructions
For daily cleaning, warm soapy water is sufficient. Clean your All-Clad thoroughly after each use. Food films left of the pan may cause discoloration and sticking. To get rid of stuck-on food or discoloration and stains from using too high of a heat, we recommend cleaning your All-Clad with a product called Bar Keeper’s Friend. To use the Bar Keeper’s Friend, simply use a soft cloth or sponge and water and make into a soupy paste. This can be used on the interior, as well as the exterior of your All-Clad (excluding the Cop-R-Chef). The Bar Keeper’s Friend can also be used on the exterior of the All-Clad Stainless collection, LTD collection, and MC2 collection. For cleaning of the Cop-R-Chef exterior, simply use a brass/copper cleaner. If your water has a high iron content, you may notice a rusty discoloration. Use Bar Keeper’s Friend to remove it.

All-Clad Stainless Selection
In recent years, a professional-size 14-inch fry pan was added to the Stainless fry pan assortment, as well as several popular specialty pans, including: the small-size petite brasier with a dome-shaped lid; petite roti roasting pan; and the beautiful, large-capacity Dutch oven and French oven oval roasting pan with roasting rack. Both of these one-pot comfort food specialty pans comes with All-Clad’s popular high dome-shaped lid. Other specialty pans include a larger brasier pan with domed-shape lid; a complete family of round-shaped saucier saucepans for versatile stove-top cooking; a flare-sided Windsor pan in two sizes, designed for reduction and the creation of rich sauces; and a contemporary "Soup for Two" 3-1/2-quart soup pot; casseroles; an open stir fry; a versatile wok-style chef’s pan; and a "Pasta Pentola" 7-quart stockpot with colander insert and lid. All saucepans, casseroles, sauté pans, stock pots, and specialty items come with lids. Double boiler and steamer inserts, including the large steamer insert for 6-quart, 8-quart and 12-quart stockpots, are available as well. Stainless cookware sets are available in various sizes, from a starter 5-piece to a complete 10-piece set.

5-0 out of 5 stars All Clad cookware, best on the market
I have used All-Clad since the early 1980's and consider it the very best, and best for the money, too, as it lasts forever, the company will simply replace any that you complain about (the LTD black surface wore off some after 15 years, which is why I switched to the stainless steel outside and inside and some copper outside versions (Copper Chef, by All-Clad Co.) and they sent a new one!). I have boiled over milk on high and it never scorched! The bottom of the pan was not even tan, much less any burned milk! That was a first for any pan for me! The Olympic Cooking Team uses these pans, by the way. And they look good on a rack, too.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very sturdy, top notch cookware
I am very pleased with my set of All-Clad stainless cookware. The construction is superior to any other set I have ever owned. One of the nice things about the cookware is how cool the handles stay after being on the burner for an extended period of time. I was really surprised by that. I figured that since the handles were stainless steel they would get really hot but that is not the case. I have also found that the cookware heats up much more evenly than my old cookware. That really does help to reduce cooking time. While it may seem a bit pricey, this set should last many years if taken care of. My Mom always told me to buy the best quality item that I could and it will save money in the long run. She was right.....as usual. :-) If you love to cook you will enjoy this set. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome!!!
Just got my Senseo yesterday. It is the greatest thing since sliced bread. just pop in the pod press a button and you've got a great cup of coffee in 30 seconds. Perfect for this busy New Yorker that is always on the run!! =)

5-0 out of 5 stars Bye, Starbucks!
Why would I spend five bucks per latte (and take my chances with the barista's skills) when I can make my own cup of foamy happiness in less than a minute, and for so much less? Answer: I wouldn't. At least not any longer. The Medium Roast coffee pods will satisfy you whether you drink it black or take it "regular" (with milk & perhaps sugar). I like to use one Medium pod and one Dark Roast pod for my first cup in the morning...it makes a nice, fragrant cup that packs a jolt. I'd highly recommend buying a few bags of the Medium Roast and the Dark Roast at the same time. If you're like me, you won't want to run out-your mornings just wouldn't be the same without your Senseo.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sensational Senseo!
After spending 2 weeks in the Netherlands last year, I was hooked on Douwe Egberts coffee and found one place in all of Dallas/Ft. Worth that sold it. Finally! America gets Senseo! The coffee I woke up to for 2 weeks and loved. The medium and dark roast are my favorites. Douwe Egbert is excellent coffee. Once you've tasted this high quality Dutch coffee, you'll never go back to American/Columbian nor that burnt stuff sold in those bookstores. Hopefully prices for the coffee will come down. For now, it's cheaper for my friend to ship me Senseo coffee from Holland (package of 18 pads there is less than 2 Euro) than to buy it here in the States or online. Now I will celebrate SENSEO DAY, the day I received my Senseo machine (tho it arrived without the free coffee cups) every year!

2-0 out of 5 stars Get the dark roast instead!
The Senseo machine shipped with two 18-pod samples packs, light roast and medium roast. Excited about my new machine, I brewed my first cups of coffee only to be disappointed, not by the machine itself (awesome!), but by the quality of the coffee. The light roast was so-so, and the medium TERRIBLE. I quickly ordered the dark to compare, and can now HIGHLY recommend the dark roast over the other two options. The dark also works the best in espresso-like brewing mode, using two-pods with the 1-cup setting. It's still not the best coffee out there, and I'm looking forward to comparing with the upcoming podhead.com pods.

5-0 out of 5 stars Delicious, Fresh Ground Coffee Imported From Belgium!
Douwe Egberts makes some of the most delicious European coffee. When the Senseo Single Serve Coffee Maker was created, these single use, disposable coffee 'pods' fit together like hand in glove. 5,000,000 European coffee lovers cannot be wrong...Senseo Douwe Egberts is outstanding, fresh tasting coffee, and each imported 4 pack, (72 Single-Serve pods), comes attractively packaged in a resealable pouch.

Medium roast is apt to be a particular favorite for American coffee tastes. It has a rich, full-bodied flavor, neither bitter nor astringent. The Senseo coffee machine can make 1 4 oz cup, 2 4 oz cups, or a single 8 oz cup at a time. The self-contained pods use a tea bag filter-type paper and are approximately 2" in diameter.

Right now, the price averages 25 cents per 4 ounce cup. The Senseo makes it with a bit of frothe on the top, and this medium roast coffee is fine straight up, or try it with a little sweetner and a dollop of Hazelnut creamer as I do.

I do envision the price point coming down a bit, as the Senseo system becomes the US equivalent of the European sensation. Douwe Egberts recommends using your pods within 2 weeks, however, I've had good luck storing the extras in the freezer section of my refrigerator with no dicernable flavor change. ... Read more

This smaller version of George Foreman's famous "as seen on TV" Lean Mean Fat-Reducing Grilling Machine is perfect for preparing quick, low-fat meals for one or two people. The double-sided grill surface heats in less than five minutes to an even temperature perfect for grilling most foods. The high grill grooves and slight angle allow fat to run off the grill as food cooks, and the nonstick surface requires little or no additional fat for cooking. The plastic, grooved spatula works well to scrape off any bits that may have stuck to the surface.

Meats and fish are the obvious choices to take advantage of the Grilling Machine's fat-reduced grilling, but vegetables and tofu dogs work well too. The double-sided grill means food cooks twice as fast, leaves attractive grill marks, and generates surprisingly little smoke. --Julija Gelazis ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The George Foreman Grill really does "cut the fat" from food
This is easily the best "As Seen On TV" product ever made (I'd like to see Ronco top this marvelous machine). As I am writing this review, I am eating boneless skinless chicken breasts that were made on the George Foreman "Champ" Grill". They are so good that words cannot describe how good they are...just sprinkle some "Mrs. Dash 'Table Blend'" on the chicken breasts before you cook them, put them on the grill, and have a great chicken dinner (only other thing you have to do is find something to go along with the chicken [maybe some white rice]). Cleanup is so easy it's ridiculous! The nonstick surface allows you to clean the grill surface with a soft clean cloth or sponge (dampened with warm water, of course), and the drip tray can go in the dishwasher. Just yesterday I prepared some turkey burgers (from Wampler Foods) on the grill, and it is amazing how much fat will be drained from turkey burgers (even though turkey meat has less fat that ground beef [which is what hamburger patties are made of], it still has fat). The George Foreman Grill really does "cut the fat" from food!

5-0 out of 5 stars "As Seen on TV" and really works!!
I got my first George Foreman grill when I was in college and living in a dorm. It is a GREAT tool for students especially, because it allows you to make all sorts of chicken, steak, burgers and other food on a "grill" right from your dorm room (or dorm kitchen). It really is a lifesaver!

I'm out of college now, and I bought the bigger version of the George Foreman grill! It's GREAT about cutting the fat, as most of the grease drains off in to an easy to clean plastic container. The plastic container can go in the dishwasher, and the grill itself has a really good nonstick surface which cleans easily with a damp sponge or rag.

It also cooks pretty fast, quicker than a conventional grill I think. I cook a few chicken breasts on it in about 10-15 minutes (depending on how big they are), and it heats up super fast - so no worrying about charcoal and starting fires! It's insanely easy to use, teenagers and slightly younger kids could probably use it with no problem. I highly recommend this grill - it's worth every cent!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great grill, wish I had a larger version
I have used this machine a couple dozen times now, and with great success. Fish, burgers, egglplant, greenbeans, chicken breast...
-- Meat, cooked from both sides, is done very quickly (Ignore the hamburger packaging that tells you to cook for ten minutes)
-- You'll enjoy watching the excess fat drip into the small drip-tray instead of sticking to a metal cooking pot that you'd have to scrub clean later.
-- Eggplant came out soft and delicious. Green beans were crispy and juicy.
-- There are no temperature settings. There is not even an on/off switch. Plug it in to pre-heat & cook, unplug it when you're finished. The only thing you need to control is the timer on your microwave. (I overcooked tuna steaks when I first got this grill, so that they were a little dry. Since then, I have learned to shorten the cooking time).
-- Cleanup: the best part. Clean with a wet paper towel or damp sponge. Especially easy while still warm. Use NO abrasives. (I use nothing other than the water that dampens the paper towel.
-- Smoke: Yes, there is a bit of smoke and steam that escapes, especially when I'm cooking beef & I lift the grilltop to add more seasoning. I usually grill by the window, so it's not a problem.
-- Size: the one drawback. If you're cooking for two, it's not easy to cram more than hamburger patty on this thing. Consider a larger one.
-- Price: note that there's a special shipping fee. The total price was still lower than that offered at my local store, though.

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst for your money
You have to chop up food to a tiny portion. You can't closed the lid even if you only have a small amount of food on this grill, and you can cook a better tasting food on your frying pan then on this grill. It does get some fat out but not all. The drip catching tray is very small, so you may have to move it to adjust it. The plastic cheap looking scrapter does really nothing to get the food off. I ended up taking mine back to the store. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars SIMPLY AWESOME FOR THE COOKING IMPAIRED
I dont cook. Boiling water is a major project for me. Therefore the george foreman grill has been a real Godsend. I love my cheeseburgers and was forced to take whatever the fastfood restaurants were dishing out. Now i have CHOICE in what level of fat is in my cheeseburgers, thanks to the george foreman grill. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Powerful, But Light
This little machine is incredible. It is so lightweight yet so powerful. We have two dogs who shed terribly and our entire house is carpted. I hated dragging out that heavy, heavy Kenmore just to vacuum the area where i do my yoga and exercises. Every couple of days I grab my dirt devil cordless and vacuum small areas. It doesn't miss a speck of dust or hair on the carpet anywhere I vacuum with it. After use you just stick it back onto its charging base. The only problem is that the cup where the dirt and hair accumulate is awfully small and you have to empty it frequently if you have heavy shedders in your home. Not a problem for me though. I LOVE this machine and HIGHLY recommend it to anyone.

5-0 out of 5 stars A little wonder
Having just put tile throughout the house, and living with 3 dogs and 2 cats, I hated hauling out the heavy vacuum and plugging it in. And then unplugging and plugging again and again all the while dragging it around the house.. This little wonder does the whole house, is light and does the job. The only complaint I could possibly have is that the dirt cup is quite small and has to be emptied frequently. This, of course, would vary depending on how much animal hair accumulates on ones floor.

I would heartily reccommend this device because of it's ease of use, lack of weight and powerful suction.

I love it and could sell them door to door they are so great. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Kindest cut for your bucks
After a year of researching knives and about 10 years struggling with a bad-quality set, I settled on the Calphalon 15-piece for a few reasons...

*The collection included in this set is comprehensive and sufficient, especially the fact that it includes the steak knives and a scissors.
*You get the "full tang" construction of expensive brands like Henckels and Wusthoff but without the price
*The handle construction is more sealed off and sturdy than the one Wusthoff knife I own, which has rivets in the handle that rust!
*The blades are strong and sharp, and cleanup is easy.
*The labels on the ends of each knife are so helpful--what a great idea!

I am very happy with this set, although I do wish the block had a few more slots. It only fits the knives in the main collection plus three steak knives. They are quite heavy, so do take care when wielding one. Nonetheless, good price, good quality, and great looks!

5-0 out of 5 stars Very good value
I finally grew out of my cheap kitchen knife set as my cooking frequency and skills have increased. I looked around at Henckel's and others, and even bought some single pieces. Everyone advises to get German steel, full tang, and a riveted handle. Well, unless you are hung up on the rivets, this is the set. The price is excellent. The heft is great, and the knives fit my large (male) hands very well. After dealing with a "starter" set it's like I've moved on to a whole new level of enjoyment in cooking. As far as the rivets, I noticed that one of the high-end Henckel's (I think 4) doesn't have rivets either. Since purchasing this set, I have also bought the boning knife separately and have found this to be a nice addition.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Set For the $$$
I just bought my first set of Calphalon Contemporary cutlery and wow what a difference between this set and some other sets I've owned. The edges are incredibly sharp and the labeling concept is truly an ingenious idea. Not to mention the overall design of the product is fantastic. Design, balance, comfort, and a lifetime warranty for half the cost, how can you go wrong? I've owned lesser sets of cutlery before that have cost me far more money. I'm sold on Calphalon's latest line of cutlery and I know I'll never buy any other brand again.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent set for the serious beginner
Excellent set for the serious beginner/advanced chef. Has all the blades you could think of and you just have to pick up the 6 inch chef or the 7 inch santoku to complete this set. Other blades are also available as well. Slices like a dream even under heavy use. Overall this should be your second set. Still chopping and slicing...

5-0 out of 5 stars A great set
I recieved a set of these knives for Christmas this year, and they're a real joy to work with. After working with a set of ill suited cheap Farberware knives that never cut well to begin with and couldn't be sharpened, I was (and still am) amazed how quickly these can get any task done, and how easy it is to make accurate cuts. The curving of the handle seen in the large knife in photo (on all handles too!) is a great feature to make grip easier, and they have a good weight to them without being too heavy and cumbersome. Just be sure you hand wash these to keep them in top condition :) ... Read more

Uniquely designed with similarities to an espresso machine, this coffee maker features a 1450-watt boiler that brews a 4-ounce cup of coffee in just thirty seconds, or two 4-ounce cups or one 8-ounce mug in 60 seconds. Because the machine uses pre-measured coffee pods, the system is hassle-free, easy to clean, and guarantees a flavorful, fresh brew each time.

Measuring 13-1/2 by 12 by 8-1/2 inches, the coffee maker is shaped like a curved cylinder with a round base. Two pod holders are included: a shallow holder that holds one coffee pod for one cup, and a deeper filter that holds two pods for two cups (or one 8-ounce mug). After filling the removable reservoir with fresh water to the ‘max’ line, the pods are inserted and the lid locked into place. A simple push of the on/off button and either of the one or two cup buttons starts the brewing process. Up to five 4-ounce cups can be brewed on one reservoir of water. Cups are not included, but almost any 4-ounce cup or 8-ounce mug will do the trick. All the removable parts--the pod holders, reservoir, coffee spout, plastic drip tray, and metal cup tray--are dishwasher-safe. A variety of coffee pods are available separately. This coffee machine is unusable at altitudes over 6800 feet. The Senseo coffee maker is covered by a two-year warranty against defects and measures 13-1/2 by 12 by 8-1/2 inches. --Ann Bieri ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Machine -- Great Coffee!
Hi, there!

I recently went on a trip to The Netherlands and discovered Senseo there. I was very happy to realize they were being sold stateside as well and immediately purchased a machine for my husband and I.

I *LOVE* The coffee, it stands up well to Soy Milk, all my guests can have their choice per cup, (some want decaf, some want dark, some medium or light). I also love that every cup I make is fresh and hot, not like when I used to have to make a whole pot then keep it vacuum sealed just to get bitter and overcooked all day. My "usual" is an 8-oz cup made with one Dark Roast and one Medium Roast pod.

It seems a lot of my friends are confused about whether this is an espresso machine or a coffee machine. Its a coffee machine that uses "Espresso-Pod-Like" pods to make normal drip coffee, one cup at a time. Its nice, rich coffee, but its not espresso, though I guess you could make a Latte or Mocha out of the resulting brew if you wanted.

I had purchased a Melitta machine, but I returned it because the top was hard to keep closed, it seemed a bit "flimsy" and it ONLY made one size cup of coffee, I didn't have the choice to make one smaller cup, two smaller cups or one big mug, which I really like with this machine. The coffee also didn't taste anywhere near as nice to me.

Senseo's coffee is comparable to Starbucks that I've tried, not quite as good as fresh brewed Starbucks drip, and not as hearty as a Starbucks espresso, but definitely good, rich and flavorful. In Europe, they have several other flavors of pods including Rio de Janeiro, Milano, Vienna and Sydney. I guess these are all part of the "City Sensations" line. Also, Douwe Egberts, the maker of the coffee pods, is a HUGE brand in The Netherlands... in the airport and at several other locations, there are Douwe Egberts cafes in the Amsterdam airport, etc. and its a well-respected brand.

I'm surprised to hear that some think the machine is too noisy. While mine does make a distinct noise while brewing the coffee, its very short and about the same level of noise as a larger pump for a fishtank makes... it lasts less than a minute.

Anyway, enough said. I hope you all enjoy your Senseo machines!

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best new products of 2004
This is a marvelous machine for a variety of reasons:

1) Good coffee. I am particular about coffee and when I read so many people complaining about the taste of the coffee I made sure I could return the unit if the coffee was as bad as some people claimed. It was not. The crema on top and the freshness of the coffee are great. If the best coffee house coffee is an "A", then this creates "B+" coffee.

2) Could not be easier to use or clean. I have had several people's jaws drop as they push the button and find themselves drinking great coffee just 25 seconds later. Clean up involves rinsing off a couple of parts that are easily detached.

3) Freshness, not quantity. I used to drink 12-16 ounces of coffee in the morning. Now I drink 4 ounces first thing in the morning, another 4 ounces a little later and perhaps another 4 ounces in the afternoon. Since it is so easy to make a fresh cup anytime I want one, I prefer this schedule to a big cup in the morning. The Senseo can brew 8 ounces at a time, but a rich 4 ounce cup is surprisingly satisfying.

4) To each his own: Just this evening two people at my dinner party wanted decaf while another wanted dark roast and the fourth wanted light roast. With the Senseo, these individual orders were a snap.

5) Good coffee with more options on the horizon: The Douwe Egberts brand is fine but as this coffee machine gains popularity, alternatives will emerge. Visit podhead.com to see more on the potential here.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Dutch know their coffee!
I come from the Netherlands and I am familiar with the quality of both Douwe Egberts and Philips products and seeing this amazing combined effort I couldn't resist!*smile* I bought this coffee maker as a gift for my boyfriend's grandparents and they love it!

4-0 out of 5 stars Best at home coffee ever
I bought all three pod coffee makers(one at a time) and kept the Senseo. The others were returned. The Melita leaked if I used anything other than Melita coffee pods, the Black and Decker's coffee did not even compare and it was a pain to change the pods, the Senseo makes and excellent cup of FRESH coffee and is easy to use. It also works with all of the pods that I have found locally (grocer has Folgers and Senseo, got Melita pods @ Target). It also works with the Melita tea pods - my husband is an Enlishman and loves his tea - this machine delivers for both of us. The coffee is frothy, hot and delicious. No more stale, bitter coffee at our house. Always fresh. This is a great machine for any coffee or tea lover. I just wish the pods were more easily accessible. ... Read more

For a century and a half, since a woman in New York invented the hand-crank freezer, making ice cream has been an American family value. Mom blended the ice cream mixture; Dad filled the maker's wooden tub with ice and rock salt to achieve the below-freezing temperature needed to produce smooth confections; kids clamored to turn the crank; and everyone happily consumed big bowls of ice cream as a reward. This family-bonding activity remains as vibrant today as it was through a century-and-a-half of "progress." With various ice cream, frozen yogurt, and sherbet recipes included, this old-fashioned White Mountain ice cream maker maintains the tradition. Only the use of modern stainless steel for the freezer can and dasher and the electric motor distinguish this rugged maker from the one earlier generations enjoyed. And years from now it will still be used, knitting together a family's history. --Fred Brack ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars White Mountain is the Best
Twenty years ago when we got married we received a White Mountain Ice Cream Freezer as a gift. It was so different than any other ice cream freezer we had ever had. The ice cream turns out so smooth and the leftovers stay so smooth and good in the freezer, not turning hard like so many other ice cream freezers we had used. We have never had a problem with it at all, until a month or so ago our daughter dropped the motor on the ground and it broke--so we decided to purchase a new ice cream freezer. We would not purchase any other than the White Mountain. We have made many different flavors--the freezer works great with fruit and nuts, choc. chips,-anything. From the time our kids were little and still today as they are teenagers and beginning to leave home--we all look forward to the special days when we gather around and make homemade ice cream. It has become a tradition in our family. This is a great machine!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Homemade Ice Cream Family
I come from a family where homemade ice cream is a ritual and a tradition. Nearly every family gathering (4 or more per year) involves the making of homemade ice cream. People have three servings. And then a few hours later, a few more. Its quite amazing. The quantity made and consumed is large.

Most families within the larger extended family have their own ice cream maker. And all of them own and swear by these White Mountain Electric models. They have owned and used them for many years, having previously burned out many other brands before finding this brand that just keeps going forever. They even own multiple ice cream barrels so they can make multiple flavors using one bucket/motor set. (a good idea actually)

Now that I have my own home, I need an ice cream maker of my own and this will be the model. After all, I would be teased, mocked, and generally looked down upon if I bought anything else. Because the experts (my relatives) know that this is the best.

5-0 out of 5 stars Quality bar none
I'm a novice to Ice Cream making. My family and I did own and operate a Baskin Robbins for about 6 years and I got to visit the dairy where they made the Baskin Robbins Ice Cream. For my money, even though this was an expensive purchase, the White Mountain ice cream maker provides the closest reality to taste and texture that commerical ice creameries produce, given the right recipes. The quality of the paddles or solid and designed to last a VERY long time. True the machine is loud, it also works hard to mix any type of ice cream wanted and does it very, very well. We've made about 20 batches so far and with the exception of 2 of them they all turned out perfect. The 2 that were bad, were pilot error. We also invested in the Ben-n-Jerry recipe book, which I also recommend. It covers everything from Vanilla Bean (yummy) to Cherry Garcia (double yum). For the money you'll end up buying 2-3 of those [inexpensive] ice cream makers and wear them out in no time. We have a large family for get togethers so we use the full 6 quarts, but it will do smaller batches for just 2-3 people with no problem. It cleans up easily with the cylinder being Stainless Steel and the wood paddles add a sense of realizime I love, plus it doesn't taint the ice cream, just like the pro's. A+ to White Mountain.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful quality product
This is truly a top of the line item. We have made several recipes and each have turned out perfectly. The ice cream is smooth and silky. The motor is loud so it's best to make your ice cream early and then pack the freezer for later consumption, that way the noise doesn't interfere with conversation.

2-0 out of 5 stars Metal Contaminated Ice Cream
Yes, it makes ice cream but you can't eat it.

Inside the container where the mixture is poured, there is a beater which stirs it as it freezes. The sides of this beater are thin wooden slats connected onto the cast metal beater by a few, cheap metal screws. These screws get wiggled back and forth while the container spins around in the ice. When it finished I was scooping out the ice cream and I found black streaks in it. You had to look closely but they were there. I don't like the idea of aluminum.

This was a very cheap and not well thought out way of connecting the wood to the metal. Poor workmanship. Not recommended. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Beware - it may not be what you expect.
We so looked forward to our "60-Bottle Wine Cellar, with Slide-Out Racks". Unfortunately, it was delivered damaged but Amazon.com was great about sending out a new one quickly, etc. No problem with Amazon.com. The problem is that the racks do not "slide-out" as Haier claims. If you lift the back of the rack out of a groove the rack can be lifted out - careful if you have 5 wine bottles on there! No "easy access" as it says in the product description. Haier should be honest and call them "adjustable racks" like in a regular refrigerator. We called Haier and they said their "gliding" racks come out on a track. But who knew to look for "gliding" instead of "sliding"? So if you don't need racks that slide out on a track so you can see the bottles towards the back of each rack, then you'll probably be happy with this unit. We aren't.

1-0 out of 5 stars Doesn't Work Out of the Box
I took it out of the box, plugged it in and 10 minutes later it made a really loud continuous high pitch sound. Called Haier; finally got a guy to come out and he said we needed a new compressor! I wish I would have got it at Bestbuy so I could have returned it. I wouldn't recommend buying this on Amazon.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good value for the money
Already had the 20 bottle Haier, but my collection outgrew it. Attractive, affordable and fairly quiet. Had some difficulty adjusting the temperature to where I wanted it, but once I got it set it has done a good job of maintaining it--the temperature within a particular region only varies by 2-3 degrees.

However, the temperature from top to bottom vaires by 8-10 degrees. Not a problem--according to Wine Spectator, 50-60 degree range is acceptable for storing red wines (in my case vintage ports). A slightly higher or lower temperature just means the wine matures faster or slower (but don't get too far out of this range, which the Haier can prevent). I have 4 thermometers in mine, spread from top to bottom. The top varies from 59-62 and the bottom 51-53. The other two thermometers show the middle region maintaining a temperature of 53-57 degrees. The bottles I plan to drink within 10-15 years of the vintage year are on the top two shelves, the rest lower.

NOTE: This unit should not be used in an area where the temperature may excede 80F. It will still cool, but not as well and will run more frequently.

BOTTOM LINE: I will probably by another unit of this model or a larger Haier when my collection grows enough to need it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Poor Service
This unit may work fine but it arrived in non-working condition. It had no power when plugged in. Haier was called and service person came out but could not get response from Haier. No call backs, no nothing. Haier parts and repair service is not satifactory. Unit is still unrepaired and will be returned after a month of trying to get part and response.

4-0 out of 5 stars If you need a cellar and are looking for a great buy.......
... this is the cellar! Especially if you are looking for a basic model to hold your growing wine collection. This model has standard features, nothing fancy: double-lined plastic? door (outer convex door is plastic, not sure about the inside door); basic shelves (I wouldn't slide them out, though); adjustable temperature (mine seems to run 2-3 degrees cooler than it's programmed for) that is easy to read. And it works just fine.

If you are on a budget, have limited space or are just looking for a basic temp-controlled, convenient place to keep your best wines, you can't go wrong with this. I haven't seen other 60-btl. chillers in this price range.

If you're thinking about getting a smaller model, consider upgrading to this 60-bottle unit. Your wines will add up quickly and, for the slightly extra cost and height, you'll be glad you have the storage available. My friends thought it was too much for me to get a 60-btl chiller (and I live in FL where temp control IS NEEDED), but they've come around as the cooler's become fuller. And a couple of wine novices are now interested in getting a cellar for their homes.

It should be said -- as one of the reviewers below noted -- the compressor is not silent. You'll hear it kicking in. So don't get this one if you are looking for a quiet deluxe chiller.

Last note: kudos to Amazon for including this item with my Free SuperSavers shipping options! Not having to schlep the big box home from the store and up the stairs was worth it!!

Good Luck ! ... Read more

Employing a stainless-steel vacuum carafe instead of a warmingplate, this 1,200-watt coffeemaker brews up to ten 5-ounce cups in just8 minutes for maximum flavor and aroma, and the carafe then keeps thecoffee hot for 4 hours. 3-0 out of 5 stars Great coffee, subpar design
I went with 3 stars because of price and design. It is better than 3, but I can't bring myself to call it 4. 3.5 is very fair. The coffee that this machine brews is far superior to any machine I have owned. It easily rivals coffee house machines. However, the carafe was poorly designed and the price tag is way too steep. I won't return it, but I retain the right gripe a bit.

PROS:

- Coffee taste is INCREDIBLE! Unmatched by any home machine I know of.

- Coffee is brewed hot. That is a fact. Do not let bad reviews about temp scare you. This machine brews hot.

- Coffee remains hot. Again, don't be scared. I don't pre-heat the carafe. The hot water heats it fast and since steel is a conductor, the carafe warms quickly. FWIW, I dumped a couple cups this morning after they sat all night. I kid you not when I say if you take it black, the temperature was still passable.

- It extracts max flavor from the grinds, therefore less coffee is required.

- The keypad is easy to use and understand. The cord compartment is very handy.

CONS:
- One hundred and sixty bucks is too much money. First off, the whole machine is not stainless steel. There is a lot plastic and fake steel. The brew technology is good, but there is no way on earth this machine is worth more than 2x a Braun 180. The coffee is a bit better, but you really have to be a fanatic to taste it.

- The carafe is TERRIBLY designed in the way it receives the brew. YES, YOU WILL HAVE COFFEE POUR ALL OVER YOUR KITCHEN IF YOU ARE NOT CAREFUL! The entry hole is too small. You can set the carafe in place and it will still overflow. It needs to be set PERFECTLY. The lips should be bigger by about 1/4" to prevent spillage. In fact, I feel this lid should be recalled. It is that bad. Exercise caution and you will be fine, but always be aware. Sometimes the ball sticks so even if it is lined up perfectly, it will still overflow. Make sure the green ball is moving before putting the lid on the pot. Use the tip of a knife to jar it loose if it is stuck.

- The lack of a removable water resovoir is inexcusable at this level. The machine is a little on the heavy side and doesn't slide easily, plus you hide the cord. A removable water resovoir would have been great.

- The carafe does pour slow. Make sure the dot is over the spout for best performance. Turning it past the spout only slows it further, it doesn't make the opening bigger! If it gets annoying, remove the lid, pour normal, then replace the lid.

This review may sound negative, but it isn't. Again, the coffee quality is unmatched. However, you do need to put up with mind-bogglingly dumb engineering and tiny quirks. But, like that lawnmower that only you know how to start, this is a machine you'll grow to love as you figure out how to control it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Coffeemaker
When it became clear that our 10 year old Krups coffee maker was on its last legs, I began researching thermal carafe coffee makers. I'm not much of a coffee drinker myself, but my husband cannot stand "burnt," or lukewarm coffee. Also, we often brewed partial pots, so the product we chose had to brew good coffee in the 3-5 cup range. The Capresso was the only product that met our requirements. Several other contenders in the same price range brewed lousy "mini" pots even when their other qualities seemed equal. Our Capresso arrived in time for our Thanksgiving company. All the regular coffee drinkers commented on the excellent coffee. I had a cup and there was none of the nasty after taste that I thought all coffee had. I may become a coffee drinker after all! I have always pre-heated the carafe with hot water before brewing and the coffee is very hot and stays that way for hours. You must remember to close the carafe after pouring a cup of coffee. I think the carafe is easy to use, the coffee is easy to brew and the machine is very well designed. It makes great small pots as well as whole pots of coffee. The only reason I didn't give this coffee maker a 5 star rating is because it is hard to clean. The pot is NOT immersible, not are you supposed to put it under running water. I am very small and have little hands and cannot get my hand inside the pot to clean it. The instructions recommend using a brush. So, I'll need to buy a soft brush to clean the inside of the pot. If the opening were a tiny bit larger, I could at least get my hand and a sponge in there! Still, it's a minor inconvenience for an otherwise excellent, and beautiful machine.

5-0 out of 5 stars Top price niche, but worth every penny for coffee lovers
I've had Braun and Krups makers before, but my Krups went kaput and I wanted something a little better for preparing a variety of fine Arabica coffees, from Antigua types like Kona to rich Indonesian varieties, to their best. (I was raised in Mexico, where for candy I sucked on coffee cherries, not candies.) The reviews here seemed a bit mixed, but after some research, I bit the bullet and bought the machine.

I have had the Capresso 440 for six months, so I feel I can comment now... and I am very impressed! It prepares excellent coffee, in large or small batches (there is a selector switch), has a permanent goldtone filter (you can buy paper filters -preferably unbleached - if you prefer,) coffee comes out above 165 F / 74C, and it stays warm at least a couple of hours; the coffee-maker is easy to program, set up and clean. It even looks good, though my prime criterion is always the quality of the coffee produced.

One small thing I improved on was the small black dot on the top of the black lid used to open / close the opening to the spout - I used a dot of yellow acrylic paint to make it more visible, and it makes a significant difference. Two things I think could be improved on - the fill indicator float-ball-in-column is on the right side, ecessed, and the design of the machine makes it a bit difficult to see in the darkish corner of my kitchen counter; and of course, a lower price would please everyone. These are relatively minor - the Capresso, made by a company that makes upper end machines for professional baristas, is a high-quality coffee-making machine that's sure to please aficionados of good coffees.

If you can't program your VCR or radio-alarm, demand piping hot coffee that blisters the mouth, or prepare cheaper Robusta coffees like Farmer Bros., forget this machine - save your money and get a Mr. Coffee. If you prefer espresso types, Capresso makes machines that do that, you won't be satsified here. To each, according their own taste...

But if you enjoy fine Arabicas properly prepared, without the unhealthy effects of plunge / press makers, and a machine that is easy to use and seems substantial enough to last, I think you will be very happy with the Capresso.

5-0 out of 5 stars Simple, reliable and tasty
After reading some of the other reviews, I was concerned about (1) how effective the carafe was at keeping the coffee hot and (2) whether the coffee would leak outside the carafe as it was being brewed.

Four hours after brewing, the coffee was still hot and ready to drink. I closed the pouring spout, and perhaps having it open would cause the coffee to cool more quickly. No complaints here.

I've made several dozen cups and have yet to have a drop drizzle outside the carafe while brewing. I'm not being extra careful when I place the carafe either. If you hang it off the side of the base, I imagine it would spill, but then anything that doesn't have the wide open mouth would.

As for the taste - using freshly ground beans - my wife thinks I've found the "secret" to making great coffee. (I don't drink it myself) And she's very picky about her coffee. The taste was as good whether I was making 5 cups or 10.

Cleanup is a snap and there are little things that make it better - the top to the filter box stays in place, even if you only raise it part way.

It looks VERY sleek on the kitchen counter - an art piece. It is expensive, but my wife is happy and as they say in the commercial - priceless.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great coffee maker - poor coffee keeper
The comments below are based on 3 months of daily use.

This is a great coffee maker. It's a shame the carafe (the keeper) isn't as capable as the rest of the machine. For the price, I would expect a well-designed carafe that would keep the coffee hot for at least 2 hours. In reality, if you don't drink it within the first hour, serious heat loss will keep you from fully enjoying the great coffee the brewer produces.

The flaw seems simple enough - poor carafe insulation. You can quickly feel heat on the outside of the carafe after making a fresh pot (if you can feel it on the outside, it's gone from the inside). I would also like to see the carafe with a more clearly marked top (pouring position), larger lid tabs to make it easier to open, and an improved pour flow rate (pretty slow). ... Read more
