1-0 out of 5 stars Thisty in New York
Well, my Milano water cooler functioned fine for about a year and a half. All of a sudden, we were not getting any cold water. The following week, we couldn't get any hot water. I was doing research online to find out who the manufacturer was so I could get the unit repaired or replaced (I now know it's Addico) and after reading all the negative reviews, I decided just to throw it away and get a new water cooler from a reputable manufacturer!

2-0 out of 5 stars Bad after taste
I ordered this cooler approx. one month ago. It functions fine mechanically, however the water it dispenses has a foul "plastic" type taste. I flushed both hot and cold water through this cooler (approx. 10 gallons) and the water still tasted bad. I am in the process of sending back this cooler but I am afraid to get another one for fear of the same problem. I have to think about my next move.

1-0 out of 5 stars Looks are decieving
Before buying this water cooler, I had read some bad reviews, but decided that I would be the exception. Unfortunately, I was wrong and they were right. The cooler looks very chic however the water tastes like plastic and makes you feel ill.

I called Addico and they told me to sterilize it again. Then when that didn't work, they told me that the problem was that the hot water switch needed to be on at all times or the water would taste stale(if this is true why is there a switch at all). The third time I called they told me that they use the same plastic as peanut butter jars and that the water is fine. However, my taste buds and stomach tell me otherwise. I have a feeling that it has something to do with the lubricant they use inside the cooler.

I am glad I bought it from amazon though, because they make the return process very easy. In conclusion, I give amazon 5 stars and Addico 1 Star.

1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
I read the reviews (2)and decided to throw out the bad and give it a try. It arrived quickley but after setting it up, drilling a hole in my cabinet for power, I found out that the cold water did not work. I called customer service, Canada, waited on the phone for 20 mins. and was told that I had to deal with Amazon since I bought it there. I was requesting to repair the thermostat myself if they sent me the part. No luck. I sent it back. Amazon made sending and receiving easy. That was the only good thing with this whole excercise.

1-0 out of 5 stars Ugh
Ugh. What can I say. The first time I bought this product I had to return it because no water came out of the hot water faucet at all. The second one I got worked fine for 4 months or so then developed a leak at the base of the cooler. I will never buy a product from Addico again. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Awful product... buyers beware!
I'd give this product ZERO stars if that was an option. I picked up one of these at Sam's Club about five months ago and I couldn't be more disappointed. The dispensing mechanism for the cold water is made of soft plastic, so the bottled water your paying good money for ends up tasting toxic by the time you dispense it. It tastes lie you're drinking liquid plastic. What's the point in making a cooler that makes your water taste so bad that it is undrinkable? The company's response to all of this is that the plastic taste will go away eventually. After nearly six months of use it is still as awful tasting as day one. Stay away from Addi and Addico coolers and find one with a ceramic or stainless steel dispensing reservoir.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not a good quality product.
They had these at costco so I picked one up. The first one was defective (no hot water) so I had to lug it back to the store for a new one. The next one made the water taste funny. Just a little weird at first but would get stronger and stronger as days went by.

When I took it apart, I noticed there was what I later found out to be vaseline smothered around the heating coils. I smelled it and realized that this is what I was tasting. This part is not supposed to be in contact with the drinking water, but the seals must be bad, because no matter how much I cleaned the water basin and tighted the lug nuts, the water would eventually taste like vaseline again.

A few calls were made to the customer support center each time but they just read you the instructions and don't know anything else. ... Read more

Is filtering and chilling your drinking water taking up valuable fridge space? The ADDI 3-in-1 countertop water cooler offers an alternative way to keep fresh-tasting cold water at the ready. The three functions--filtering, chilling, and keeping cold--all take place inside, and water comes out of a simple push-tap. The filter improves overall flavor and reduces chlorine taste and odor. Each filter lasts approximately 105 gallons or 3 months with average use. You can also remove the filter and use the unit to dispense chilled fruit juice or wine. Designed to fit under most kitchen cabinets, the cooler stands 16-1/2 inches high and has a 1.7-gallon reservoir that removes for cleaning. An indicator light on the front of the white and dove-gray housing illuminates when the filter should be changed. --Emily Bedard ... Read more

Worst piece of junk I have ever bought. Assembly instructions UNCLEAR and I received extra parts not included on the diagram of the unit. Stay clear of this company.

2-0 out of 5 stars The ADDI 3 in 1 water cooler/ice maker /counter washer
I bought this water cooler for xmas. It worker great for a couple weeks. Then you go to get water and its not giving water. Look inside and theres a chunk of ice the size of a softball. You turn it off to let it melt and the unit drips water all over the place. I won't buy anything else for that company.

2-0 out of 5 stars Works Well But Ruins Water's Taste
I purchased this water cooler to replace one that I had rented from Poland Springs for seven years. This water cooler functions well. Hot water is hot enough to make tea or other hot drinks and the cold water is fairly cold. The problem is that the reservoir for the cold water is made of soft plastic and it makes the Poland Springs water that I pay dearly for taste like plastic. My previous rented water cooler had a stainless steel reservoir which did not affect the taste of the water. There is a stainless steel reservoir for the hot water, so it isn't as badly affected. The company assures me that the taste will "go away eventually," but after several months, I'm not holding my breath. If I had it to do over again, I would definitely shop around for a water cooler that had ALL stainless steel reservoirs.

4-0 out of 5 stars Stylish, Quiet and saves energy!
My last water cooler cost more to run annually than the total purchase price of the Addico Milano! Elegantly styled, this cooler would look great anywhere in your home. Definitely worth every penny!

5-0 out of 5 stars The best water cooler!
This is definitely the ideal water cooler to have and I would recommend it to anyone looking for one. Stylish and compact, it's great for anyone with limited space and also has a hot-water, child-safety spigot for households with small children. The white version blends into our kitchen color scheme perfectly.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love it! Have used with no problem for over 18 months...
I purchased this item from Amazon in 2002 and to this day am very pleased. Unlike other customers, ours was not defective.

The reason I bought this model was that it is the only one I've found that has a covered top so we don't have to look at the actual water bottle (with huge advertisement for the spring water company on it).

I did discover that the top cover does not fit on the discount priced spring water bottles that I could buy at my popular warehouse chain; the only brand the warehouse store sells comes in a rectangle shaped bottle. In order to use the Addico Milano's top cover we had to get home delivery of a different brand of spring water.

We love this cooler and have no complaints. The only problem that our guests have is that they dislike the colors of the handles, black is for cold water and white is for room temperature. It seems most people prefer blue to indicate cold and red to indicate room temperature (or hot). Oh, well. It was not hard for my own family to learn which is which!

I believe Amazon has a great bargain with this cooler, especially due to the free shipping.

Note that this comes in two colors: white and black.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not perfect, but it works well enough.
I got tired of the ten dollar monthly rental fee per cooler, so I decided to buy my own. This Addico cooler is pretty slick looking, though it is definitely larger than the one it replaces. The water bottle itself is covered by a slide off hood, which makes it look even better (I hate looking at those scratched up bottles!). Now for what I don't like:
1) A spring-loaded pouring mechanism has to be inserted into each bottle before mounting it (and that requires completely removing the plastic seal from the bottle, not just removing the outer foil),
2) The fact that the hood makes it impossible to know when your bottle is getting near empty (a simple clear strip down the hood would have solved that),
3) The cheap feel of the dispensing mechanism and the fact that the labels are not securely glued in place, which perhaps belies some overall inattention to Q.C.
Lastly, it ain't cheap, considering it is only a hunk of plastic & a very tiny refrigerator.

5-0 out of 5 stars Looks, nice, does what it's supposed to do...
I'm happy with the Milano cooler I bought off Amazon (the free shipping was especially nice)! The cooler is attractive, yet a couple things I'll comment on: I thought when I bought it that it would have a hot water dispenser as well...Also, the picture looks like the silver parts on the cooler are metal, but in fact they are stickers...All in all, though, the cooler does look nice and does it's job just fine.

5-0 out of 5 stars Stylish and Practical
I recently received my water cooler and couldn't be more pleased. Not only does it keep the water extremely cold for when thirst attacks, but it is also a great addition to my appartment at college which I try to keep with a contemporary motif. The style of it looks like i spent hundreds of dollars which is not the case. I also get compliments on it everytime I have a party or just have people over. I am reminded of the practical aspect of the cooler on the days after a night of partying when I can re-hydrate myself with very cold refreshing water.

5-0 out of 5 stars How cool is this thing!
I saw this originally at the Housewares show in Chicago, and I had to have it. I sent my standard model Hinkley and Schmidt packing and replaced it with this baby. Love it, love it! It's beautiful, tasteful, works great and I couldn't be happier!! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars HORRIBLE COMPANY TO DEAL WITH!!!
Pray that you don't receive a defective cooler like mine which leaked and cause water/floor damage. This is a Canandian based company and when I called them to find out who to speak with, they gave me the runaround (eg., would not divulge names...etc.)

Don't buy from them! CAVEAT EMPTOR!

Plus, it's cheaply made. If you look at the back of the unit, the water well is surrounded by styrofoam. Go to Home Depot and buy a GE model for only $130 or order a water cooler from Office Depot or Staples. Free shipping!

5-0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommended
January 2002: I have read the other reviews, and frankly I was surprised at the negative comments. I have been using my cooler now for a few months and have had no problems. It looks really, really cool (pun definitely intended). I bought the black. The water in the cold tap is VERY cold (and this in the year-long heat of the Caribbean sun). The water in the cool tap is cool - just as advertised. It takes up surprisingly little space.

I feel sorry for those who may have gotten a defective machine, but mine is working just fine.

Add to all this the convenience of not having all those bottles in the fridge - I DEFINITELY recommend.

One last thing ... you don't get a bottle with it though I think the presentation ...gives you that impression. That bottle shown is apparently to show the customer the non-drip valve cover (which works very well by the way).

December 2002: I wanted to add one more thing ... if the water begins to freeze in your compartment (mine did for some inexplicable reason nine months into use), the thermostat that the extremely brief instructions talk about is that screw that you see on the INSIDE of the grid. It is a little hard to get at, but once you do, it does what it's supposed to do. I STILL love this cooler after 15 months.

March 2004: This Cooler is operating as well as it ever did and it looks as good as it did when I received it. I have never regretted this buy.

4-0 out of 5 stars Addipure Water Dispenser Filtration System
This system is good if you perfectly place (install) the filter head on the bottle and the numbering gage is tight. If not, the system will leak more water than allowable in the holding tank. This is bad news if you the water dispenser system that dispense cold and hot water, for the excess water in the tank will submerse the relieving valve for the hot water tank, which will lead to the water in the holding tank and the filter head to heat up. Per the Addipure literature, hot water will damage the filter head and make it useless.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good tasting water, reasonable cost!
We've been using this system for a couple of months now, and we think it's great. We're drinking alot more water now that it isn't as expensive as delivered water. As Alhambra/Sparkletts users for many years, we were concerned that the taste and quality would suffer with this system. Cold water is wonderful. Room temperature water tastes as good as Arrowhead, but the dramatically reduced costs makes it worth it. ... Read more
