All Clad fry pans (and the entire All Clad cookware collection) are first class, top quality, well made, designed to last and come with a lifetime warranty...Doesn't it make more sense to buy a top quality pan that has a lifetime warranty and will be replaced by the manufacturer than a cheap pan that will eventually end up in the trash? All Clad makes more sense for your wallet and the environment and wouldn't you rather use "crème de la crème" professional quality cookware than junk? I know I would! Highly recommended! A+++!
All Clad is probably the best cookware around. This is due to the layered metal design (and the lifetime warranty). It has stainless steel layers with aluminium in between. This works to evenly distribute the heat (even if you have a nasty electric element stove!) because aluminium is a great heat conductor. Also, this pan has the layers on the sides as well so the heat distribution is quite even. That said, my feeling is that this pan is too expensive. It's very well made and works well, however for non stick pans, you will see very similar performace in the much cheaper Emerilware nonstick (also made by All Clad). The difference is that the Emerilware nonstick pan does not use any stainless steel. Instead, it uses anodized aluminium. Aluminium is a great heat conductor so this pan will perform just as well, for a much cheaper price. The outside finish may not look as good for as long as a stainless steel finish though so if you care about looks and don't mind spending the money, this All Clad is tops. The Emerilware one still has the lifetime warranty and is of the exact same dimensions as the All Clad branded one. And I like the handle on the Emerilware even better than the handle on the All Clad. With this All Clad, you are paying more for the layered stainless steel and aluminium, which require more labor to produce as well as more metel and materials. Of course the choice is yours. If you want the best and don't mind spending the extra money, this All Clad is tops. If however you want nearly identical performance at a cheaper cost and the same lifetime warranty, the less expensive Emerilware pan would be a better match. I don't think you can go wrong either way!
I wash the pan by hand and I never use metalic utensils in it. I never use it inside the oven. I think as far as non-sticks go, this is a fine product. I just don't think there is such a thing as a non-stick that can last that long. If All-Clad are happy to keep replacing my pan, then I guess I'll stick with it.

and it should be expensive (because you get what you pay All Clad has a few lines of cookware. ALL of them have This set itself is almost perfect as far as the pieces go. My only complaint is that the stock pot is too small. BUT..the sautee pan, the nonstick frying pan (which by the way has the GREATEST nonstick surface I've ever used!), and the two sauce pans are WONDERFUL and BEAUTIFUL pieces. Since I bought this set, I've added to it. I bought the steamer insert (which fits into the larger sauce pan), a 7" frying pan, and a 1 and a half quart sauce pan.. all LTD, and all PERFECT. I have absolutely no complaints about the pieces themselves. Water boils faster in these pieces than in ANY other piece I've ever used. And more importantly, it heats EVENLY. You won't look into the pot as it starts to simmer and see that the bubbles are only coming up from one side of the pan. The bubbles come up evenly from the entire bottom of the pan. Oh, and did I mention that the aluminum core goes ALL THE WAY up the sides of the pan? The heat from the burner gets transfered ALL THE WAY up to the top of your pan, making it heat up incredibly fast! All in all, all clad is a perfect 10. The other sets (MC2, copper chef, etc..) look pretty good too, but they have their drawbacks. The LTD set is perfect, and beautiful. I highly recommend it.
Pricey but worth it for the serious home cook.
The piece I use most is the 3qt sauté pan, it's the most versatile of the bunch. I use it for frying, and I love the edges of the pan which help prevent liquids from spilling out. The 9-pc set I got came with the 10" sticky frypan instead of the non-stick featured in this set. I must admit that I rarely use the 10" frypan, always opting for the 3qt sauté pan instead. But this would be the perfect pan for making omlettes. The 6qt stockpot is perfect for cooking pasta (my primary use), and for cooking larger dishes like Cassoulet and Chicken Cacciatore. It sounds too large for these dishes, but it's perfect for me because I cook large amounts and the sides of a stockpot help prevent the liquids from spilling over. The 2qt and 3qt sauce pans are versatile for heating soup, cooking sauces, veggies, and smaller portions of whatever. I alse use the 2qt sauce pan as a butter warmer (because I just can't justify getting the All-Clad butter warmer). These pieces look wonderful on the stove. They're a bit heavy, but you will get used to this. They are ovensafe; I never thought this was an important feature until I used the 3qt sauce pan to bake brownies and the 6qt stockpot to put the finishing touches on my Cassoulet. They are easy to clean. And they definitely make cooking more pleasurable.
Are there drawbacks? Well yes and no ...specifically the price is strong but worth it. Second, the pieces are almost indestructable ...they will last a life time but remember this is for the serious cook. The only drawback to this set is the six quart stockpot ...good but, we enjoy making homemade soups and it is not big enough unfortunately ...in sum, if you are a serious cook or just thinking about it, this is the cookware for you but remember you don't buy it, you invest in it! PS If you are interested, price it out in housewares stores or department stores, the Amazon price ... makes Amazon the lowest cost source. ... Read more

Try it for cranberry sauce at the holidays, or any small sauces involving milk or cheese. Remember that the pan does not have a great surface area, so timing and delicacy in preparations is key. Leaving the pot unattended on a high heat is not a smart idea. Keeping the pot with a good warmth, slowly working up the heat of your sauce or fruit is one of the best ways to use it. The only downside of this pot is that yes, it is difficult to pour from, and the small surface area of the pot (=smaller open area) means that ladles are often too unwieldy for it. So be prepared beforehand to know how you're going to get your sauce out of the pot without making much of a mess. Have fun in your kitchen! ... Read more

These pans are designed to reduce sauces to a servable consistancy. The curved sides of the pan allow heat to come up the sides of the pan more, as well as get more liquid in contact with a flamed area. This heats up the liquid rapidly, as well as reduces it more rapidly than other pans. It does this wonderfully. That's what it's for, it's not for soup or anything like that. That's what "Pots" are for. I love to use it to reduce balsamic vinegar, various juices, hard ciders, or wine into a syrupy sauce to drizzle over things.
That said, this is endlessly useful for exactly what the name would imply -- sauces. Throwing together a cream sauce for two? Boiling a little water? Reheating something? Why use a big pot when a little one will do? The small size comes in handy when you have all your burners going and don't want something huge getting in the way. Plus it's cute & shiny. There are usually great deals on these smaller pots. (Check out the regular sauce pan as well as this saucier) All the pros I know swear by all clad -- if these will stand up to years of all day, every day restaurant use, then they should be just fine for a generation or two in my kitchen... I just picked up another one of these as a wedding gift for a chef I know, and I'm tempted to get a second for myself.
All Clad does make a 1qt sauce pan which does have the lid, but not the pouring lip. And a Winsor pan (1.75 qt) with lid and lip, which I favor over this one. It's not a bad pot, it just could be better.

The straight sides are more useful for frying things then simmering them in sauces. That way, you don't have meat or veggies riding up on the sloped sides of the pan and not cooking all the way through. The pan does not brown and fry quite as well as the standard fry pan -- so it is not really a substitute for your frypan for making burgers, and fast cooked type foods like chicken breast, pan fried steaks, and stir fry. (that is why it got the 4 stars) Because of the straight up sides, it really is closer in capacity for frying to the 10" fry pan. Size wise, this pan holds enough for approximately 4 good sized portions of meat, gravy, and veggies.
Also, if you should get something stuck to the stainless steel use a product called "Bar Keepers Friend" to clean it. Most supermarkets have it and Kitchen Etc. and Bed, Bath and Beyond carry it too. The container (like a Comet can) is gold with blue and white writing. All Clad recommends it for cleaning stainless steel and it works like a dream and is very inexpensive.
