Great cookware, but Amazon doesn't carry it!!
I've used this cookware before and it is excellent. While I prefer heavy pans myself, my wife especially liked the weight and balance of these pots and pans. However, I've had them on order since December 17, 2003 and Amazon keeps extending the "estimated ship date". If you really want them, you should probably look elsewhere. I'm about to give up.

Money well spent
We actually purchased this set about 3 years ago. I came across it here on Amazon and though I would take a second a write a review. This cookware is amazing! Cooks evenly, cleans up instantly, and after almost 3 years of use, it is still like brand new. Very heavy duty, strong non-stick coating, and will not warp like the cheap stuff.

If you are considering a new cookware set, do not hesitate to purchase anything by Berndes, it is worth the money.

Great set
I got this set for x-mas and it is fantastic. The 11" skillet has steep sides so it holds an entire meal, while the smaller skillet is perfect for eggs or small jobs. The stock pot works wonderfully for gumbo. I have not had anything burn with this set and clean up is as simple as warm water and a sponge. The glass lids all fit perfectly. I did have one lid handle that was attached backwards, but 5 seconds with a screwdriver fixed that. Must have been hitting the beer a bit heavy that morning in the factory :)

The stuff is MASSIVE, so make sure you have large cabinets to store them and strong arms to lift them. I have dinged up the skillet a bit but the non-stick coating is thick enough so small scratches do not get through, so it still performs well. Compared to the thin, warped, scratched stainless and non-stick junk I had before, these pots and pans are just fantastic. I only gave them 4 stars because I don't have a lot of experience with high quality cookware and there could be something better out there, who knows? ... Read more

Watch out, Le Creuset's cast iron utensils!
This pan fills a void in my kitchen equipment that I didn't know I had, until I bought it. I use it in a variety of ways.
* On the stovetop, as a wok.
* On the stovetop, to prepare large batches of meat (2-3 lbs) for freezing and/or assembly of easy cook meals to use during the week.
* In the oven, as a surface for roasted vegetables. (Use it without the lid for this purpose.)
* As a large casserole for stews. (It will hold 4 qts if filled to about an inch below the top; I usually stop at 3+ quarts.)

While the 13 inch size of this utensil is a bit awkward to wash in my smallish kitchen sink, at 3 lbs its light weight makes it doable. I especially like the rivetless interior. In my opinion, this is on par with Le Creuset, which for a comparable item is roughly triple the weight. They are both well made, but filled with food, the larger Le Creuset items can be a challenge.

OVERALL, these are the good points:
+ only three pounds empty
+ excellent quality cast aluminum is made in Germany and has a track record of almost 30 years
+ nonstick surface performs very well and reduces amount of fat/oil needed
+ cleans easily with a nylon net dishcloth, Simple Green or dish detergent after a brief soak
+ handles are cast as an integral part of the unit
+ no rivets or other food-catchers inside
+ flat bottom can be used on a multitude of cooking surfaces, including gas/electric/induction/halogen burners.
+ lid rests on a rim inside the pan, recycling moisture when used as a casserole
+ lid knob is ovensafe to temperatures of 450 degrees F

THE DOWN SIDES INCLUDE the potential for the glass lid (rimmed in metal, with glass labeled break-resistant) to break. In addition, the Signocast line is not intended for use with metal utensils.
