By brewing coffee directly into a 40-ounce (eight 5-ounce cups)chrome thermal carafe that keeps coffee hot for four hours thiscoffeemaker eliminates the need for a warming plate that can turncoffee bitter over time. The carafe's brew-through lid seals shut afterbrewing is completed, preventing air from entering and spoiling fullcoffee flavor, and the carafe has a stay-cool bottom so it can beplaced safely on the dining table. Other features include a clock/timerthat can be programmed up to 24 hours in advance for making wake-upcoffee, an automatic pause when the carafe is removed for a midbrewpour, an automatic two-hour shutoff for safety and ease of mind, awindow on the water reservoir with easy-to-read calibrations, and aswing-out, dishwasher-safe filter basket. The coffeemaker, clad inplastic, measures 9-3/4 inches wide (including carafe handle), 15inches high, and 10 inches deep. --Fred Brack ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars nope! it was a pain in the a**!
First of all the lid mechanism is stupid! The coffee is supposed to flow into the pot around the sides of it, but it never does! The first time I used it I tightened the lid so after the coffee was made it would stay hot. I'm sitting there in my living room watching TV for about 10 minutes. The coffee maker made the steaming sound when it was done, like all coffee makers. I get up and walk into the kitchen and OH MY GOD! HOLY S***! Coffee all over my counter dripping on the floor. Not a drop in the pot. After I cleaned up the mess I tried it again. This time with the lid completly off. I sat it on the counter and walked into the living room. After 10 minutes I heard the steaming sound and could smell the fresh coffee. I get up and walk into the kitchen. "SON OF A B****! GOD D*****!" Again, coffee and grounds all over the counter and floor. This time it flowed out of the compartment that holds the coffee grounds. Just because I didn't have the lid on which activates the hole to open and allow the coffee to drip into the pot! I'm used to the old glass drip makers. And thats what i'm sticking with. I took this one back to K-Marts and exchanged for a *NORMAL* Mr. Coffee. Also, The pot was very small and NO WAY did it hold 8 cups. Maybe 6. -BIG CINDY

3-0 out of 5 stars Plastic taste
I purchased this coffee maker because it has a clock on it with the auto setting so that when I get up in the morning the coffee is ready. The only problem is when the water sets in the tank over night the coffee tastes like plastic. If the waters is poured in and coffee is made immediately, it doesn't taste like plastic. The whole reason for the purchase was for the auto clock. I have cleaned it by running white vinegar through several times and that hasn't helped. By the way, this is the second pot. I returned the first one, hopeing it was just a lemon. Now I have the same problem with this one. So now I'm back to square one with a coffee pot with no clock. Can you give any suggestions?

4-0 out of 5 stars Stop and think about it.
Let me first say that I have had the B@D Thermal Carafe for a long while.

First: Don't soak the lid...clean the lid carefully but don't submerge. Problem with water in lid solved.

Second: Don't submerge the carafe. You won't have water seeping out of the seam because no water will get in. Put water into the carafe (not COLD if carafe is HOT, I will get to that later). Wash the inside with a long sponge on handle, sparkling clean every time.

Third: Don't ever try to put COLD water into even a WARM carafe, instant explosion (I know). Don't try to mix your coffee in the carafe, they were not made for it.

Lastly: This coffee maker will not spill if you fully tighten the lid and place it carefully into the housing. If you violate the "careful" and the "tighten" part all bets are off. I think this makes great coffee as long as you start with good filtered water and of course good coffee. I have had to replace the Carafe I ordered one they sent me two (took many weeks). I love it to death (except for the small part about the failing on/off switch) Anyways, I like it and will buy another but will skip the timer part and save big $$$ on a lesser model of the same brand. Hope you have good luck.

4-0 out of 5 stars is ok
Everything is a winner except for the markings on the glass tube to let you know how many cups you have. Difficult to read. The whole aparatus is quite high-make sure you have room under your counter. Am sure if the glass in the carafe breaks=you would need to buy the whole thing cheaper.

2-0 out of 5 stars Coffee all over my kitchen
This coffee maker leaked all over my counter almost every other time I used it. I investigated the problem and tried positioning it differently, screwing the top on more or less, and it still leaked. If the top is left unscrewed almost all the way, the plungers are depressed far enough for the coffee to go in, but then you can't get the carafe out. What a pain. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Black & Decker, long known as a maker of quality tools, brings that same dependability to the kitchen in its line of countertop appliances, such as the TCM700 8-cup thermal carafe coffeemaker. Constructed of sturdy black plastic with a steel band accent, the body of the TCM700 looks sleek and professional, like a tool designed for the kitchen. On the front of the brew basket, there's a see-through plastic water fill indicator, with measure lines that take into account the extra water needed to brew a cup of coffee.

The two main highlights of the Black & Decker TCM700 are its thermal carafe and its programmable timer. The carafe is stainless steel, with a black plastic handle and brew-through lid. The lid locks on airtight to keep coffee hot for up to four hours. A pop-up button on top of the lid allows for pouring and for Black & Decker's Sneak-A-Cup feature; this allows impatient caffeine cravers to interrupt brewing in order to, well, sneak a cup of coffee. A clock and timer display is on the front of the coffeemaker, along with a four-button touchpad: On/Off, Program, Hour, and Minute. The timer can be programmed to start brewing at a given time--first thing in the morning, for instance. A hinged lid allows access to the TCM700's removable brew basket, which slide-locks into place for brewing.

The removable brew basket is dishwasher safe (top rack). Hand wash carafe in hot water with a soft sponge and mild detergent; do not use abrasive cleansers or scrubbers on carafe. Rinse the brew basket and carafe thoroughly to ensure purity of coffee flavor. Wipe down the coffeemaker with a warm, damp cloth and dry completely; coffeemaker is not immersible. The carafe measures 8-1/4 by 6 by 6-3/4 inches and has a 5-cup (40-fluid-ounce) capacity. (An 8-cup coffeemaker produces 8 5-ounce cups.) The coffeemaker measures 11 by 8 by 14-1/2 inches. The Black & Decker TCM700 uses #4 conical paper coffee filters (not included). Black & Decker includes a detailed instruction sheet and a one-year limited warranty against materials or workmanship. --Garland Withers ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A great toaster, a great bargain
I bought the Black & Decker T2400 Toast-It-All Deluxe 2-Slice Wide Slot Toaster not knowing how great it would be, but it's now the best toaster I've ever owned. Really convienient, with settings for bagels, and it's even got an option where you can keep your bread sitting in the toaster after it's done toasting and it stays warm. Hands down, the bes toaster you will find in this price range, a fine appliance for the common man!

4-0 out of 5 stars Finally..... a man's toaster!
Now let's get one thing straight here, I'm a man! I need a man's toaster, something that will make me the finest, most delicately darkened toast this side of Paris, Texas! To have such a discriminating taste in the field of toasters is unfortunate, for very few can meet the simple requirements that I ask for! After years of searching, I found the Black and Decker T2400 Toast-It-All Deluxe 2-Slice Wide Slot Toaster! It features extra wide slots (to accordingly fit my Texas toast!) bagel and bread setting switchers, and a crumb tray that can't be beat! Now I admit, all the frou-frou with her switches confuses me! That's why she loses the extra star! But thankfully, my wife knows just what all the confusing nobs do, so when she makes my breakfast it's top notch, always satisfying my taste gumption! And above all it's made and manufactured in the U S of A! The Black & Decker T2400 Toast-It-All Deluxe 2-Slice Wide Slot Toaster ain't perfect, but she's as close as they come! ... Read more

Black & Decker, long known as a maker of quality tools, brings that same dependability to the kitchen in its line of countertop appliances, such as the TRO760 Toast-R-Oven. With toast, bake, and broil functions and a built-in kitchen timer, this kitchen tool can expand the cooking capability of a home kitchen, freeing up the larger oven for other tasks. Or pair it up with a hotplate to outfit a dorm room, studio, office, or RV with a workable cooking situation. It's a good-looking appliance, too, with modern contours and a crisply white and silver metal housing.

The TRO760 Toast-R-Oven has one large steel rack that can be positioned at three different levels, as well as a broiler tray with a smaller, nesting rack. Underneath the oven is a hinged crumb tray that slides out for easy cleaning access. Three dial controls govern the toast, bake, and timer functions. The uppermost dial controls baking temperature, which can be set anywhere between 200 to 450 degrees F or to broil. Next one down is the 30-minute timer and Oven On dial (a small red light indicates On); the timer chimes a single bell tone when time's up. And the third dial is for the Toaster function, with adjustable gradations from light to dark toast.

The removable racks and broiler tray are dishwasher safe. Do not use spray glass cleaner on glass oven door; wash instead with nonabrasive sponge or cloth and warm, sudsy water. Unplug oven and allow it to cool completely before cleaning. Clean oven inside and out with a mild detergent and nonabrasive sponge or cloth; rinse and dry completely. The toaster oven measures 15-3/4 by 11 by 10 inches; inside dimensions are 11 by 9-3/4 by 9 inches. 2-0 out of 5 stars Leaking in Leesburg
I was a Black and Decker Spacemaker enthusiast, having purchased one in 1996. It worked fine, though I had trouble with the spring that controls the sneak-a-cup feature. The heating unit burned out 6 years later,so I purchased a new one. The valve on the reservoir began to leak late in 2003. I checked the price of a new reservoir ($18) and decided to go for a brand new machine. You guessed it- It leaked like a sieve as soon as I got it home. I got on-line with the folks at Applica, and was assured I would hear from someone "shortly". That was 12 days ago. Also, I got on-line with someone called PriceGrabber hotline who "Assigned a number" and promised to get back to me. Glad I wasn't holding my breath. No answer 12 days later. Today Jan 9 called Applica, talked to a real person, was told to return it to K-Mart. Are there any good under-the-counter coffeemakers out there, or am I doomed to push coffeemakers around my countertop again?? Thanks- MartyYawman@aol.com

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely the best
An excellent coffeemaker that delivers what it promises. I have had mine since 1994 and it is still brewing perfect coffee. It is so efficient that you can actually use a little less coffee and/or a little more water than the standard recommendation of 1/2 cup of ground coffee to the 10-cup mark on the water reservoir.

Early use of the Sneak-A-Cup feature does yield a slightly stronger cup - but worth it if you are in a hurry. Our Black and Decker is also used more than once a day, every day, by the many HomeCare aides who help care for my mother. Their verdict, "Absolutely the best."

3-0 out of 5 stars Fine product, HORRID installation
What a nightmare to install - I had the right tools and lots of experience under my belt.....but nothing could prepare me for the rotten instructions and the marginal, at best, template one is to use for an under the counter installation on a cabinet with an overhang. It took hours, and I do mean hours, to install this beast....a tiny shift in the template whilst drilling spelled disaster and the need for another monsterous hole to be drilled. Just when I thought all was corrected, the spacers weren't quite long enough....and so it went...along with my patience. I seriously considered tossing the entire thing in the trash....but I'm too stubborn, I confess. The machine works fine, no leaks, no problem brewing, programming works just fine, pause 'n serve works well too. The only bitter taste this appliance leaves is born from the installation nightmare....sigh.

1-0 out of 5 stars Applica just doesn't care about quality
Had the ODC150 for about 2 years. Started leaking from reservoir. Was told I would have to buy a new reservoir to replace the rubber water seal/valve at a cost of $24, as it is not a replaceable item. Bulls**t!!!! It takes 5 minutes to replace it. I have emailed their customer service. If I don't get a suitable resolution, I will never buy any B&D products in the future!!

2-0 out of 5 stars has some problems
I received one of these as a Christmas gift a few years ago. While I prefer the thermal carafe style machines, I can't recommend this one. Like most lower end machines, the brew temperature is too low and the coffee doesn't taste right.

Another problem is that the overflow is desgned to go back into the reservoir. Most people won't run into this problem. I did because I was using a #10 SwissGold filter basket in it. That particular basket is not cone shaped and the coffee needs to flow out the sides.

This exacerbates another problem which is that most coffee makers aren't designed for brewing fresh coffee. There isn't much extra room under the shower head. The stale canned stuff would probably work okay but fresh ground, freshly roasted beans bloom when water first contacts them. I tried to make a strong pot with some freshly roasted beans and had huge mess on my hands. That was too much to deal with before my morning coffee.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not bad, for the price . . .
This is a good, basic thermal-carafe coffee maker. There is a gauge on the outside to show your water level, and it is easy enough to read. Our coffee stays hot in the carafe for a good 4 hours after brewing -- a great thing on days that my husband goes to work at 4:30 and I don't have my first cup until the kids are off to school at 8!

One annoying thing: you cannot turn the brewing off! If you accidentally bump the start button before you get the water filled, or even (as has happened to us more than once) if you bump the start button with a plate or something on the counter you cannot make the thing stop! It has to be unplugged, or it will try to brew through a cycle. We had an older version of this coffee maker that you COULD turn off, so I guess this is an example of features slipping through the cracks in the old engineering department! Other than that, I have no complaints. It makes a good cup of coffee and you can buy it for cheap!

4-0 out of 5 stars Handy Coffee Maker
This is a pretty good coffee maker. It's fast and it keeps the coffee warm for quite a long time. The only downside to it, is that it's a 8 cup instead of the regular 12 cup. It automatically shuts off so you don't have to worry if you left the coffee maker on. I think the carafe pot is the way to go. The coffee stays warm and it doesn't break like the glass ones.

2-0 out of 5 stars What is the point...
..if the thermos doesn't keep the coffee warm. I wish we didn't have to throw our old coffee maker with themos away because of rusting on the bottom. After 7 years of use it still worked and kept the coffee very warm to hot up to five hours. This one barely kept it luke warm for two. A big dissapointment. The coffee tasted okay if you like it luke warm. ... Read more

I purchased this grinder to replace a Krups blade grinder that had finally stopped working after many years of service. Reading several other reviews that complained of the mess this thing makes should have prepared me for the daily explosion of ground coffee across my counter caused by the static buildup of the unit. Also, if you like dark oily coffee beans from Peets, Starbucks or Illy, you'll find yourself constantly patting the top of the machine to keep the beans flowing down to the grinding mechanism. I look foolish enough first thing in the morning, I certainly don't need the help of a crummy coffee grinder to make matters worse. Spend a few extra $ for a better burr grinder or stick with your old blade grinder.

4-0 out of 5 stars Best grinder for the price.
Like other reviewers I was dismayed to see the low overall rating. I usually brew once (on occasion twice) every day and I was going through the cup style grinder about every 4 months. I bought the SmartGrind almost a year ago and it still performs well. I gave it 4 out of a possible 5 stars due to the fact that the collector cup doesn't entirely seal to the mill and some of the grounds will collect at the base of the unit. It's a very minor inconvenience! My favorite feature is the coarseness setting- If I french press, I can adjust the coarseness of the grind for a nearly prefect cup of coffee. I highly recommend this mill for its' durability and features

4-0 out of 5 stars served me well, but...
This grinder has served well, but...the timer quit working soon after purchase, but hitting the button again to restart didn't trouble me as much as cleaning it and taking it back would have. I've used it for more than six months on a regular basis, nearly always at the finest setting, for dark, 'oily' French Roast [Starbucks] beans. I solved the static/mess problem quickly by discovering an empty glass jar ["McCormick" 8 fl. oz. Original-Premium Cocktail Sauce] fit perfectly in the grounds-recepticle and 'neatly' caught the flying coffee. Of course there was some that went into the plastic part, but 99% was in my snap-lid glass jar and not flying all over me or the kitchen! I then just popped the same jar in the fridge to store about 2 days of espresso-ground coffee. I've moved up [way up, to me] to a burr-type grinder and can get my espresso grind much, much finer of course, but for a new coffee nut, this is a great one to start with. Happy Brewing...

5-0 out of 5 stars Good grinder for the money
People who bought this grinder thinking that it was a top-of-the-line grinder, should have done some thinking. I love my grinder, but I am also an amateur in the coffee field. This is a great grinder for those people that just like fresh-ground coffee. For those people who are specific about their coffee, they should spend the money on a higher level grinder. I love it and the coffee tastes great.

1-0 out of 5 stars coffee ritual gone wrong
Making good coffee takes time & effort. Most coffee drinkers recognise this and actually enjoy the extra hassle. This silly grinder is such a pain that I am becoming a tea drinker. I'm writing this review to put off cleaning 5 feet of spewed coffee grounds. The grind button has an evil mind of its own. I wish my grinder would break quickly like some of the other reviewers', so that I could buy a new one without guilt. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Handy Little Item, but Not Durable
Admittedly, when I got this item, I used it every day. I chopped nuts, onion, garlic, carrots, etc. Its great for making a little pesto, dressing, etc. But after six months part of the bowl cracked off, then another part, and now the blades are dull and it jams more than it chops. All in all the item lasted about a year with no problems, and its limped along for another six months. Its not very expensive, so it wasn't a terrible investment-- still, I thought the Black and Decker name would mean it was more durable.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not a great buy.
I bought this an year ago and it worked perfectly for few months. I've been mainly using it for onions, green leaves etc. After few months, the blades were sharp enough and it couldn't make onion paste of it. The jar also started showing small crack lining from the friction between blades, onions/tomatos and the jar plastic. It seems like the materil used is very soft and gets scratched easily. After few months, the lid also becomes loose and if you try to put tomatoes in it, they'll start leaking the juice from the top when the mixer is on.

It's definitely convenient, but not dependable for long time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for chopping in a hurry!
This is such a little time saver in my household. We use lots of onion, garlic and nuts in our meals and this little processor is perfect. You don't have to waste time lugging out and setting up a big food processor. We keep this one ready to go in our cabinet. Takes just seconds to process and all you have to do is rinse clean. For projects like chopping this is perfect. Keep in mind it is really small but it saves so much time from having to dice and chop green onions, garlic etc. If you are looking for convienience in a small package this is the processor that is good to have. If you need to do large or even medium size meals I would get a bigger processor. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Didn't do anything!
After reading the reviews for this product, I expected alot more. It didn't do anything, it didn't suck up anything, and it doesn't have brushes on the bottom to fluff up the carpet and at least make it LOOK like it did something. It didn't suck up anything on hard floor either. Target store took it back just fine, but I still had to repackage it and didn't get a refund for shipping. I don't know who said that this product works, but they need glasses. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY.

3-0 out of 5 stars It's great for the money!
We just recently installed new hardwood floors. We have two dogs and lots of dog hair. This vacuum is very good at cleaning hard wood. In a matter of minutes the floor is barefoot clean! It's not as loud as a regular vacuum. It comes with only 3 electrostatic cloths but once I used all of them I just put those Swifter cloths on and they work fine. The little filter fills up pretty quick with dog hair but it's easy to clean. It's probably not the best choice if you want to hurry up and clean for company but it's great for everyday maintenance.

2-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money
Hubby picked this one out. Wanted something for every other day on area rug. Have cats and dogs. Did so so on hard wood floor but nothing for carpet. Very disappointed. I'd rather deal with my Rainbow. It's wonderful - just a little too much for frequent vacumming. Still looking for a reasonbly priced stick/upright that's easy to handle and has powerful suction.

4-0 out of 5 stars Cute little guy does the job.
We bought ours at a Target store apparently before they were available anywhere else. Right out of the box, there was enough of a charge for us to get an idea of what to expect from this type of vacuum. It has about the same pick-up power as any other rechareable type of vac, but the idea of it running when we leave the house is what sets it apart.
Our pattern is to run it about the same as we do the dishwasher and clothes washer, leaving all of them running when we walk out the door in the morning. We were somewhat disappointed that it only had a NiCad battery as opposed to the now less-expensive LiIon we use in practically every other device. That said, we have to let it run all the way down before charging so as not to burn in a "memory", shortening our overall battery life.
Since it is more or less automated, we run it every day, starting it in a different portion of the floor each day so as to get maximum coverage. ... Read more
