reliable but so so performance
I haven't had the issues with my batteries running out, except when I've used it for longer than 10 minutes at a time. I've had mine for about 3, almost 4 years. It picks up kitty litter, but isn't the greatest at fur or anything that might be remotely static-y or sticky. I got mine from a friend, but I'd probably buy something else. The filter is a royal pain in the kiester, and always skeeves me out, blah! On the whole, reading other reviews, I'm shocked that mine has held out so long...we use it all the time!

Not Worth The Dirt It Supposedly Picks-up
I've had the DustBuster for less than a year and have used it for light clean-up in my kitchen. The blower on the unit actually blows the dirt away, so I end-up having to chase after it.

My biggest complaint, however, is that after 6 months of relatively infrequent use, the unit only ran for about 45 seconds. Now it doesn't run at all, because the battery has to be replaced, and I precisely followed the directions regarding proper battery care in order to prolong the life of the battery.

Please save your money and just use a broom or a more reliable shop-vac. The battery performance in this unit has been extremely disappointing.

older version has worked 4 years
I have an older version of this hand vac and it has served me well. I have replaced the filters occasionally, although they were hand washable. I have 2 original batteries, and bought 2 new ones two years later. So that's one battery a year, essentially. Sure the batteries run down, but that's what the charger is for! Have a spare on hand (they are sold cheaper in 2-packs anyway). It picks up beads and cat litter great. Only complaint is that you have to take the filter out to empty it, and it drops stuff if it gets too full. Otherwise, my old one is a great product, so I ASSUME the newer one is even BETTER! I'll be buying another soon.

Junk
I join the chorus of those who say this is just a terrible piece of goods. Very, very poor battery performance. Despite following "rules" such as allowing it to run down completely, not leaving on charging all the time, Etc. it still fails to take and hold a full charge. Runs at low power for only very short time. Not worth buying, not worth replacing batteries, not worth having one !

Worst Designed Iron of the Modern Age

A re write of previous rating
Fair is Fair, as they say, and I had previously given this product a bad rating due to my hearing loss and impatience. Because I couldn't hear a buzz when I set it to cotton, I assumed I had a unit that was defective. My wife told me to hold it close to my ear. After finally hearing it, I followed the dirctions and removed several bad stains for the most part including ink stains in my shirt pocket. It helped to give the stains a shot of Shout afterwards before washing. Most stains completely disappeared. As consumers reports suggested,it is just as effective with a white cotton cloth under the stain when applying the electronic wand with solution. I also found it to be more effective if I did not let the stain dry out and used the wand as soon as possible. In my opinion...with patient application as instructed...this product is definitely worth it's price

JUNK - not worth the money
This is really a money making machine, it is not for getting stains out of anything. I spent 20 minutes trying to get a small stain out, it faded a little, I used two of the pads in the process and I still have a stain. Rather use something else, a little elbow grease perhaps - that would work much better! SAVE YOUR MONEY.

LOVE this machine!
We got this as a shower gift, and it got out a set-in makeup stain in about 5 minutes. I was even able to get some spots out of our rug that we'd tried EVERYTHING to remove. I also used it to get barbecue sauce out of a t-shirt. In both instances, I could clearly see the stain on the stain-catching pads. I LOVE this machine and would reccomend it to anyone.

Save your money
I purchased this stain remover with great excitement. When it arrived our housekeeper could not wait to use it as she loves laundry. It does not remove stains as well as the inexpensive stain remover you buy in the grocery store.

I called customer service at Black and Decker and what a nightmare. In order to send it back you must send in the cord with $5.00 (can you believe that??) and you will not get a refund but just another one of the Stain Busters. They also wanted my credit card number...unbelievable.

My SteamXpress 680 is fabulous!
I looked up this iron to tell my mom the model number, as she has had one bad iron after another and I am recommending this one to her. I am so surprised to see these negative reviews, I guess that most people who are pleased with their product don't feel the need to post a positive statement! So I will speak up in this iron's defense. We have used this exact iron for 2 1/2 years. It has never leaked, it warms up instantly and steams like a champ. And I must add that I have dropped the iron probably about 20 times over 2 1/2 years, and the only thing that happens is the blue knob falls off, but it snaps right back on. Other than that it continues to work perfectly. So I definitely describe it as durable and recommend it!

It stops working after a couple years!!!
I have had the very same problem that others listed. After a few years of use, the on switch just refuses to stay in the on position. What horrible quality!!!

Won't buy Black & Decker again
I had the same problem as others did. After about 2 years, the iron won't stay on in the upright (veritical) position. It turns off. It stays on in the horizontal position, while ironing, as long as the cord doesn't jiggle. As soon as you set it down to move clothing, it clicks and shuts off. The steam was good on the iron.....but I will NOT buy another Black & Decker iron again !!!

What Am I Doing Wrong!!!???
For some reason I can't iron without the water leaking all over the clothes! I tried ironing curtains....couldn't seem to get it hot enough to even get the wrinkles out. Without getting it too hot for the material. Would appreicate some HELP!

This is not a durable product
This iron is such a waste. I have had it for about a year and it worked fine. All of a sudden, the on switch stopped working. In order to iron, you have to shake the iron, wait for the light to come on, hold the on switch, hope that it will heat up and iron while holding the switch. That is way too much work in order to iron It has an automatic turn off, but it hardly works. It doesn't have a steam button, either. Just a spray button which you have to push several times. Not Built to Last
I originally loved this toaster and rate it a 5. It broke about a year after I bought it. The pop-up feature on one side started to slip lower and lower so I couldn't easily retrieve the toast. I fiddled with the handle, which seemed to fix that problem but broke the handle off. Now it's got an ugly, broken handle and is slipping lower and lower again. This toaster is not built to last. How many years have people been making toasters? Shame on you Black & Decker for creating products of such poor quality that my review and others have to warn people away from buying them!

Black & Decker should listen up
Nice features (slide out crumb tray), but both handles fell off within 4 months of use (only used 12-20 times). Impossible to reattach handles.

Unimpressed With Toaster's Abilities
I read the other reviews on here. Debated on whom to listen to, and made the wrong choice. I am glad that I had a coupon and didnt pay more then 10.00 for it. Sometimes this toaster only toasts one side of the bread...even on the correct setting. If its perfect toast you long for...do yourself a favour and look elsewhere.

Horrible!
I needed a 4-slice toaster for my family and I bought one. Unfortunately, I can't use it. The left sides works (poorly), the right side works whenever it has a mind to. The lever for the right side toast will not stay down. The left side toasts but it is uneven or just one side and somtimes burns corners of the toast. I am very unhappy with this purchase. I will never buy another Black & Decker toaster ever again.

Great features, poor quality
I bought this toaster after reading the good reviews on other sites. I loved the 4 wide-slots, but the toast/bagel switch is what really drew me in. I loved being able to toast on one side only, say for bagels or hamburger buns.

Unfortunately, it would do that all the time! No matter which setting I used, it would toast fine on one side, but the other side of the toast would be barely toasted at all. After recieving my first toaster, I thought "Okay, I guess this one is defective...". I sent it back for a replacement unit. Well, the same thing happened to the second one. Finally, I returned the toaster for a full refund.

Cooks rice, but you'll need a scrubber.
The rice cooker seems to overheat everytime and sends froth boiling over. This can be avoided by opening the top from time to time. The rice tends to stick to the metal after you are done. With a close eye the rice will turn out fine. However, this product fails the test for convenience. I'd rather use the stovetop with some good cookware and a timer than use this. I suggest looking for a product with better non-stick material and one that doesn't overheat.

Sticky rice, but stuck to the bottom of the pot!
I grew up in Japan, so I am pretty picky when it comes to how I like my rice. This was given me as a gift, and although I wouldn't have chosen an American brand of rice cooker, I was surprised at how well the rice turned out. I was using Japanese rice. The cooker gets the rice pretty perfect in less than 35 minutes for 6 cups, which is fairly fast. Unfortunately, the first time I used it, I left it on the "warm" setting for over an hour. This was never a problem with my older Japanese rice cookers, which do not have a glass lid, but whose tops are normally hinged, preventing you from seeing the contents until they have finished cooking.
After everyone had come and gone and finished eating, I could see the bottom of the pot, and noticed the yellow color of the rice that was hardened there. I soaked the pot, (which is not dishwasher-safe, by the way, as neither the lid nor utensils that accompany this set are) and decided to unplug the rice cooker immediately the next time.
I did unplug it the following night after it had finished cooking and the light automatically switched over to the "warm" setting. However, upon stirring up the rice to loosen it so that the texture would be uniform, I noticed again the same problem on the bottom of the pot. I am disappointed in this particular feature of the rice cooker, but I noticed the price was at least $100 lower than a traditional Asian rice steamer/pressure cooker, and since I didn't purchase this myself, I can't complain - but I do give it only 4 stars because of this problem, as well as the low quality of the rice scooper and paddle. ... I wish I had read other reviews
I wish I had read other reviews before I invested my money in the Dust Tamer. The description sounded promising, but the result is very disappointing.

There is almost no dust removed from the wand when it is inserted in the vacuum even though I got some accumulation of dust in the little drawer/ collection compartment.
I kept using the Tamer thinking a little dust taking off the wand is better than nothing, but now (after only 3 months) the vacuum makes funny noises and does not give me any suction at all.
In my opinion this device is not worth any money.

A VERY EXPENSIVE BRUSH HOLDER
I read the instructions, charged the unit for 24 hours before using. To put it simple: THE DUST TAMER IS A TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY. My observations from using the unit are: 1. the suction is very weak, 2. the motion of compressing the brush into the solid core chamber only serves to embed the dust into the brush fibers, Note; there is no suction action in the solid core chamber only at the top of the unit. and 3. There was no dust collected at all in the dust compartment. The reason for that is because the dust never leaves the brush until you go outside and shake itout. Isn't there a law against this kind of commerce??

DustTamer Rip Off
This is a total waste of money and doesn't work at all.

Be sure you are vacuuming the duster correctly!
When you vacuum your duster you should put the duster into the green ridges and twist it up and around! I was very surprised how much dust was in the drawer after dusting for about 5 minutes. When I opened the drawer I thought there wasn't much dust in it, but to my surprise there was about a quarter of a inch of dust in it. The first time I tried I was putting the duster all the way in, but when I just put it into the top where the green gooves are, I got great results. It is a wonderful product. I am disable & having this make me feel a little useful again!

HIghly recommended/Makes dusting much easier
I've owned this wool duster for about one year and I also own the Filter Stream Dust Tamer's hand held cordless vac. This particular lambswool duster comes with an electric HEPA vacuum specifically designed to clean the duster (so you don't have to shake it outside). You simply run the duster in and out of the electric vacuum compartment and the vacuum cleans the duster for you. First of all, wool dusters in general are very good at attracting dust. They pick up dust without spreading the particles in the air. To clean them, though, most wool dusters have to be shaken out vigorously outside. This can be quite difficult if you are cleaning when it's raining outside, have a health problem (like arthritis) with your hands or arms, or live in an apartment or condo. Having the ability to clean the lambswool duster electronically is a big plus. Filter Stream is a great company. Their products are high quality and durable (and mine have been dropped many times). Their products are also great for people with allergies, because they contain HEPA filters to filter out the very small allergens in the air. The added benefit of a cordless makes the product very easy to use. In response to other reviews which state that the vacuum did not adequately clean the duster, I'll say this: (1) The vacuum compartment not filling up quickly is more a result of the type of cleaning that is being done. You're not vacuuming crumbs and dust bunnies off the floor, your lifting tiny particles off of your dust-collecting posessions. I've used this duster twice a week for a year. My compartment is just about to be cleaned out for the first time, but I have no doubt that the duster and vacuum work (because I see and feel the results). (2) The duster needs to be pushed in and out of the vacuum several times, not just placed back in the compartment. (3) The lambswool duster is VERY very good at attracting and holding dust. It actually gets very ratty and does not let go of the dirt it picked up easily. This is why a lambswool duster is superior than dusting with a rag or a featherduster. If it didn't hold onto to dust well, it would spread the particles in the air for you to breath in. Drawbacks: The only drawback to this duster is that the lambswool duster gets ratty with use. The duster continues to work well. It's more an aesthetic problem than anything else. Replacement dusters can be ordered from the company for about $10 if needed. Overall, I highly recommend this duster, especially for people with allergies. I initially bought this on clearance last year. TERRIBLE
What a waste of money, time and energy! It doesn't cut the cheese! I bought this product to reduce the strain and fatigue on my wrist, instead it added to it. It was extremely difficult to get it to shred the cheese and when it finally did, it clumped up inside the unit and not to mention the clean up.

Made in China crap
Black and Decker management should be ashamed of themselves for this product. There is no way that any one of them could have possibly tested this made in China piece of crap. It makes a lot of noise and then binds up as soon as anything touches the blade. The only cheese that gets cut is the chunk you cut with a knife to put against the thing. I'd give this zero stars but, one is the lowest allowed.

Don't waste your money
I own quite a few Black and Decker products, and they are all great, so I trusted the name when I purchased this item. I bought it because I have problems with my hands, and was very excited about being able to grate cheese. This was a total waste of my money, and I am surprised Black and Decker would sell a product that doesn't live up to their reputation. In my opinion, this is a piece of junk!
