3-0 out of 5 stars Good with limitations
I use this mainly to grind pulses and veggies and it does a great job. But it is extremely noisy and the grater and other chopper attachments are not impressive. Food flies out as said in the other reviews and it is difficult to clean, unless one is using it for something really dry in which case, just a rinse will do. If one is okay with noise(a lot of that), then this is good to buy. Else, look for options. I am looking too...

2-0 out of 5 stars Works well HALF the time
The chopper/grinder works very well -- but the the shredder/grater with chute is just horrible. As the other reviewer said, the grated food sprays out all over the work surface instead of into whatever container you innocently intended.

I'm very disappointed in this design -- I had another B&D small food processor with a grater/shredder WITHOUT the chute which lasted for nearly 14 years. When that finally gave up the ghost about 2 months ago I bought this one, and I'm sorry I did.

I guess it's back to hand-grating cheese again and scraping my knuckles . . .

5-0 out of 5 stars Great little processor!
This Black and Decker processor is great! It is compact and SO easy to clean! I purchased it to grind up baby food. It works great! I haven't used that attachment on top yet but it looks interesting for blending fruits or whatever. Definitely worth the money.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't give up your day drills yet Black & Decker
The unit does cut and grate, but you better have a catching container that wraps around the unit to catch the product as it comes shooting out. Your catching container will hold as much as what drops short on the counter, the exit spout is enclosed on only 3 sides, so a lot falls short of the catching container. Cleaning the inside of the cover presented a problem, crevices inside the cover catch cheese and soft products, you must use a long bristle brush or THIN FLAT toothpick to remove it. This unit is loud. Does B&D equate noise with power? I should have left this one on the store shelf, cause it quickly found its way into the recycle bin curbside. I would rate this less than 1 star. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Below my expectations
I found 3 problems with this toaster oven right away.

1.I put the dial on the darkest setting and the bread is not fully toasted at the end of the cycle. It's barely light brown at that point. You have to hit the button for a 2nd cycle, although you only need maybe less than 30 seconds.

2.During the first cycle, it starts emitting steam thru the front of the unit (along the sides of the glass).

3.Unlike my old toaster oven from Black & Decker which I had for many many years, at the end of the cycle it doesn't "ring" to let you know the cycle is done. This means you have to stand there and watch for when it's done.

Why did I throw out the box it came in right away, which is something I never usually do when I buy a new product?? Ughh.

Amazon.com Review

Black & Decker, long known as a maker of quality tools, brings that same dependability to the kitchen in its line of countertop appliances, such as the TCM800 8-cup thermal carafe coffeemaker. It's a handsome, modern-looking machine, with a tall, rectangular water reservoir made of sturdy black corrugated plastic; the filter hopper and carafes are both constructed of matte-brushed stainless steel. The reservoir has a cut-out water level indicator on the side, made of see-through plastic, corrugated to match the coffeemaker body. (The measure lines on the indicator take into account the extra water needed to brew a cup of coffee.)

The two main highlights of the Black & Decker TCM800 are its thermal carafe and its programmable timer. The carafe is stainless steel, with a black plastic handle and brew-through lid. The lid screws on airtight to keep heat in for up to four hours and unscrews for pouring. Black & Decker's Sneak-A-Cup feature allows impatient caffeine cravers to interrupt brewing in order to, well, sneak a cup of coffee. A clock and timer display is on the front of the coffeemaker, along with a four-button touchpad: On/Off, Program, Hour, and Minute. The timer can be programmed to start brewing at a given time--first thing in the morning, for instance. A hinged lid allows access to the TCM800's permanent brewing filter, a cone-shaped filter with a convenient lift-out handle. The brew basket is also removable, and it has a sliding lock to secure it during brewing.

The removable brew basket and permanent coffee filter is dishwasher safe (top rack). Hand wash carafe in hot water with a soft sponge and mild detergent; do not use abrasive cleansers or scrubbers on carafe. Rinse the brew basket and carafe thoroughly to ensure purity of coffee flavor. Wipe down the coffeemaker with a warm, damp cloth and dry completely; coffeemaker is not immersible. The carafe measures 9 by 6-1/2 by 6-1/4 inches and has a 5-cup (40-fluid-ounce) capacity. (An 8-cup coffeemaker produces 8 5-ounce cups.) The coffeemaker measures 13-1/2 by 7-1/2 by 14 inches. Black & Decker includes a detailed instruction sheet and a one-year limited warranty against materials or workmanship. --Garland Withers ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Big loser
This is a terrible coffee maker. Since the day I brought it home, it has failed to keep time, thus making the programming function useless. Although the carafe is supposed to be insulated, it is ineffective at keeping the coffee hot. And it is very messy to pour. Stay away. Far away.

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst Coffee Maker ever used Very disappointed!!!
I bought this item about 4 months ago, and have been displeased with it ever since. The automatic brew timer only worked once, and it does not keep the correct time. Coffee will occasionally spill over for no reason, and the carafe does not keep coffee hot for long. The filter bucket that came with it does not keep all the grounds out of your coffee. Would not recommend you waste your money on this one.

1-0 out of 5 stars HORRIBLE -- LASTED NOT EVEN 1 MONTH!
Coffee spewed everywhere all over my kitchen -- after only about 2 weeks of use! I am very disappointed with this product.

1-0 out of 5 stars Pretty. Pretty Messy!
This is the most poorly designed coffeemaker I have ever used. Unfortunately we threw away the box and receipt since we've always had good experiences with Black & Decker products before. <br /> From the little things like the fact that the lid doesn't open wide enough to allow you to pour an entire carafe full of water into the reservoir, to the big things like it keeps overflowing and flooding the counter, this is absolutely the worst. <br /> The lid on the carafe doesn't work well, it always takes several tries to get it in the right place. The permanent filter seems to be the culprit for the overflowing, so I am now using paper filters. The carafe doesn't pour well and spills all over itself. The sneak-a-cup feature doesn't work either. The machine brews so fast that the coffee doesn't develop any flavor. <br /> If this had been a free coffeemaker, I would throw it away and start over. At least we got it on sale.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't buy!
Terrible buy, trying to exchange with Black and Decker. Top leaks every time coffee is poured and is difficult to take on and off. Area to fill water is way to small and the entire unit is extremely hard to clean. ... Read more

A powerful 780-watt motor and fourteen accessories allow this hand vacuum to tackle stairs, floors, molding, upholstery, and other cleaning jobs in the house, garage, car, or RV. Two extensions for the hand vacuum are possible: a flexible hose for upholstery and inflation; and a 28-inch wand comprised of up to three plastic press-fit tube sections. Devices that fit the wand include the floor head, crevice tool, and molding brush. Three adaptors allow the vacuum to inflate rafts, air mattresses, and beach balls, while the blower function clears leaves from patios and crumbs from a kids’ party. Two of the most-used accessories--the crevice tool and brush tool--conveniently store on board the vacuum. A handy drawstring bag keeps the various accessories from getting lost, and the 20-foot power cord lets the vacuum easily reach all corners of a room. A Clean Filter indicator lets you know when the 13-ounce capacity dirt bowl needs to be emptied, a procedure as simple as pushing a button and shaking out the contents. Conveniently compact, the hand vacuum measures 11-1/2 by 4-1/2 by 5-1/2 inches, and is covered by a two-year warranty against defects. --Ann Bieri ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Serious Disappointment
This vacuum has a very powerful moter and, as advertised, will actually pick up nuts and bolts neither of which I have laying around my kitchen floor. The filter design is lousey. It is not designed for the fine dust this machine can pick up and it fills up long before the "cup" designed to hold the nuts and bolts. I cannot finish vacuuming my kitchen floor without cleaning the dust filter at least once - and contary to what you may believe my floor is not filthy. I have contacted Black & Decker 2x's and their response it to send me more filters. The power of the machine is great, hopefully Black & Decker will redesign the filter system.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect little vacuum for light cleaning.
I love this little vacuum. It has very, very strong suction. The many attachments give it versatility and let you choose what works best for you. I did not find them at all frustrating or confusing - the one page instruction sheet clearly shows recommended configurations for different jobs (upholstery, corners, floor molding, etc.). But I tried a couple of configurations and quickly found that the stick and floor attachments are excellent for my furniture - especially in removing pet hair, and it's wide, so I can cover the surface quickly. The other pieces were a little small for the job. I would prefer a longer (or a second) hose attachment, as well as a little better upholstery attachment and a separate dusting attachment, but the attachments from my regular vacuum also fit this one, so this won't be a problem for me. Still, I fully recommend this little gem.

4-0 out of 5 stars Powerful but complicated
This vacuum is wonderful for those who need a small, very powerful vacuum, for a small space. I use this for my darkroom, and it's pretty much perfect.

However, it has too many attachments, with bizarre adapters, and even comes with a quick reference sheet to help you figure out how to get each one one. Someone needs to get fired at Black and Decker, immediately.

I gave the vacuum and a bag of pieces to my friends father, who has worked in carpentry and construction for 20 years, and he had serious trouble figuring out how to get on certain pieces.

I was just laughing when I started to read the instructions. If they had just made everything connect via tubes, like any other normal vacuum, everything would be great. I just use two different pieces, and put the rest of the attachments in a box.

It is loud, but that comes hand in hand with being very powerful.

I don't think they really intended it to work out this way.. but you can use the blower mode to clean out the filter, which fills up very quickly.

2-0 out of 5 stars One serious improvement needed.
I bought this vacuum for my wife as a gift. I was quickly impressed with it's powerful suction and all the attachments. We have wood floors in our kitchen and several area rugs and this machine looked like just the right tool. There was just one problem. When you hook all the tubes together to make a long stick vac the only way it attaches to the vacuum is by snugging it inside the end. This becomes problematic with the weight of the attachment. It fell out over and over while vacuuming the rugs. Black and Decker could have easily solved this by making it a secured attachment on the end of the vacuum, click into place if you will. Without it it just keeps falling out rendering it useless. My wife suggested using two hands, one on the unit and one on the tube but that is hard on the back. A decent product with one major flaw. Since this was the primary use I returned it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Powerful, Great Attachments
This is a very powerful hand vac. I tried a dirt devil and returned it. The cord is sturdy and longer than most. The attachments are super and makes stairs a breeze. It also has long attachments and a piece that makes doing hardwoods and kitchen floors easy. This gets allot more of the dirt, especially in tight to reach places. Only draw back is it is a bit loud. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

A good starter model, the 1200-watt Black & Decker Quickpress spray iron has all-in-one controls and easy wet-dry versatility. Though not as powerful or as impervious as higher-end models, the iron offers helpful features for basic ironing. The controls are on the handle and automatically generate steam based on heat setting, so you only have to make one setting selection. A spray button also lets you spritz clothes as you iron creases or stubborn wrinkles. The water reservoir fills through a wide-mouth open hatch, and a view-window lets you track the tank level. The iron has an aluminum soleplate, making it very lightweight, and a button groove that allows you to iron right up under buttons. Black & Decker also built in the Auto Clean Steam Valve to prevent build-up of mineral deposit and lint. One thing to note: the power cord on this iron does contain lead. Measuring 10-1/2 by 4-1/4 by 5-1/2 inches, the Quickpress comes with a one-year warranty.--Emily Bedard ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Do not buy!
I've always liked Black&Decker, until this product. I received one as a gift and thought it would be great because it was tall. Finally I could open coffee cans and other large cans. Wrong, large cans jamed the opener and the thing would just spin and grind the same spot. Then after a month it broke completly. I thought it's Black & Decker I must have just received a bad unit. So I bought another one. Same results in about a week. I now have a Oxo hand opener and love it. Its the type that opens without leaving a sharp edge. I wasted my money twice, don't waste yours once. Don't buy it.

1-0 out of 5 stars B&D Really Screwed This One Up!
I came here specifically to write this review so others would not feel the pain I did. Now, only us lazy folks would go looking for an electric can opener, but that's besides the point. The purpose of this device is to open a can faster and easier than a manual can opener. It is so hard to use this darn thing that I inevitably use my manual one to open the can if it takes me more than 3 attempts. Please don't buy this. Buy a good quality manual can opener.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not the best
I trust the Black & Decker name but must say that this particular product is a disappointment. It isn't user friendly. It takes several attempts to get the can hooked and opened and by that time it has shredded the paper label in which some pieces always end up in my food. My advice for you would be to make sure can is cleaned before opening so you don't have a problem if any paper falls back into the can.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good
I have never been able to use automatic can openers, so at my house it's operator error if the thing doesn't work the first time. I like that it's tall. The lids always stay on the can opener after I have removed them. It stores very easily and cleans up pretty nicely. It does shred the wrapping on the can, but I usually throw mine away. Never had a problem with the paper going in the food. (?see comment below?) Overall, I think it's a great buy. Very sleak, I sure don't mind leaving it on countertop!

1-0 out of 5 stars Pass it up!
I thought this would be a great can opener. Not so. It works with extra tall cans, and that's about it. Don't even think about trying to open small cans, such as a 6 oz. or so. It just will not work. This can opener does indeed shred labels and is most difficult to line up with the place where it's supposed to lock on to the lid. Since I bought this can opener, it has taken me an average of about three attempts to open any given can.

In short, I'm taking this thing back. My manual can opener works better than this! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars I don't need anything more
This coffee maker has served me well. I've owned it for almost 2 years and altho we don't drink coffee every day, it gets used 2-4 times per week. The carafe is a tad difficult to seat properly but once you understand that it fits only one way, you get used to it. The top sometimes drips water onto the counter after it has brewed, from condensation. I like the non-drip spout on the carafe and the programable pre-set feature. I would recommend it, especially for the price.

1-0 out of 5 stars A week old and bound for the rubbbish bin
Oh my god, what junk. It spits, it sputters, it belches steam like a decrepit clothes iron. The heating element ticks nonstop; I can hear its staccato ticking and clicking all the way in the living room. It's annoying as hell but more than that, it's disconcerting. Is it on the verge of shorting out? Will it catch fire, set the kitchen ablaze? Gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "coffee nerves."

What's more, and this really pissed me off, the Pause-&-Serve feature works ONLY if you remove the carafe (which is supposed to activate the pause it but doesn't), stick your finger in the streaming hot coffee, and manually and forcibly depress the pause button. Even then it pauses only a second, IF you're lucky. So to avoid a mess you take hold of that carafe and hurry like a madman to pour--slopping coffee all over the place--but you needn't have bothered because right away coffee's streaming down, bubbling and boiling and cooking on the burner. Without wiping up the spill you jam the carafe back in place (what else are you going to do?--it won't stop) where of course it starts to scorch and smell. Now I ask you: what do you look forward to smelling while your morning coffee is abrew? Brewing coffee by any chance? You'd be out of luck with this machine. Today it produced an odor that was like a mix of burning plastic and cat pee.

Finally, whether you pour hurriedly or with the utmost care, the crummy carafe always makes a mess. It leaked every time I tipped it to a cup.

The Black & Decker DCM2000W SmartBrew Coffeemaker is so junky it would be overpriced if they gave them away. For the discriminating but frugal coffee maker consumer, Proctor Silex's 46801 Simply Coffee Coffee Maker does a wonderful job and costs $5 less--it's a humble, unfancy workhorse that doesn't spit or sputter, has a perfectly functional stop-and-pour, a well-designed carafe, and it brews a delicious pot of coffee every time. I was frankly amazed at the quality for the price. When the carafe slipped out of my hand and broke the other day, I thought I couldn't wait a week for a replacement to ship. I dashed to Target, meaning to buy another Silex of the same model, but none was in stock. So I brought this lousy B&D home instead. It's bad enough that that's twenty bucks I might as well have put through the paper shredder (nope, the receipt is long gone), but what's worse than the wasted money is that Black & Decker has somehow seen fit to put their ostensibly good name on a substandard product. They offer it for sale as if it were a viable piece of equipment in working order. It does NOT work. Right out of the box it does not work. That's unethical.

So until I can afford to invest in a pricey Bunn, Proctor Silex has my grateful and devoted "cheapie" coffee maker business. And you know, I have to wonder if the vaunted Bunn would really make a significantly better cup of coffee than the Silex. Somehow I doubt it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Poor quality
Our first Black & Decker coffee maker didn't even last a year. . . the water pump stopped working. We took it back to Wal-Mart for a replacement and was sorely disappointed that the new Black & Decker carafe dripped no matter how careful or slowly we poured. It's strange because it looked like the same design as the last one which didn't leak.Back to Wal-Mart for our money back. Now we are wondering if there is a coffee maker out there that can make a good, hot cup of coffee that is convenient, easy to use & clean, drip free and still reasonably priced. Also bought a Black & Decker iron that leaks like a sieve.Perhaps B & D needs to go back to the drawing board and design products that are leak proof!

1-0 out of 5 stars Poor product
We love our coffee and it's not unusual to go through coffee makers quickly. Withen the past 4 months I have bought 2 Black & Decker coffee makers. The first one was a CM100 series. It leaked like a sieve when pouring so I decided to use it as a "back up" and get a new one.I then purchased the DCM2000 series.Quite disappointed to find the same problem. Not only does it also make a mess when pouring but because we weren't diligent wiping off the bottom after every use, the finish is coming off the hot plate.
I won't buy this brand again.

4-0 out of 5 stars does the job
This coffee maker actually makes a good size 12 cups. It is easy to fill. The coffee stays nice and hot. Pours easily. What else do you need. The only problem I found was the top does not stay completely closed. ... Read more
