Gets too hot!!
Okay, it looks good at first glance. But take a second look, the handle is crooked. It's even crooked on the box. And it gets way too hot, it took the lining off underneath my cabinet that it was sitting under. I have never had a toaster do that!! If you are looking for an excellent retro looking toaster, buy a Russell Hobbs. I love mine!!!

This toaster looks even better in real life than it does in the picture. The finish is perfect and the shape is Retro looking but sophisticated at the same time. Inaccurate Advertising.
I ordered this toaster, received it in the mail, and had only to look briefly at the manual to know that I needed to return it. The Amazon web site states that it toasts four slices "independently," and that's exactly what I wanted. But that's not exactly a feature of this appliance. Slices 3 and 4 must be toasted with 1 and 2. There is one knob for browning control for all 4 slots, not one for each 2 slots (like my old Hamilton Beach toaster.) With this machine, I can't put a split bagel in two slots, then bread in the others. I can't put 4 slices of anything in, and get them done 2 different ways. That's not what I call "independent."

Stylish, sexy, simply the best....
The first thing I noticed about this is just how good it looks. It really is a showpiece in my kitchen. The smooth, rounded shape and the shiny chrome finish really make it look fabulous and I leave it out on the counter all the time. Apart from that, it seems pretty much a normal toaster. The extra-lift feature makes getting small bagels out very easy, and the electronic buttons are handy too. This one's turned entertaining at my house from Budweiser and Chardonnay to Stawberry Daquiris and Margueritas. I've used glass and plastic blenders before that I used to hide under the kitchen counter but the sleek and stylish stainless steel design of this blender have made it a proud showpiece on my bar. I was wrong--my previous review was useless
I tried the same thing with other blenders and water and ice does about the same thing. Ice gets pushed up and forms a solid mass and doesn't come down and the blades wind up spinning in water.

Just opened. Added Ice and water, in proportions one would use to make a margaretta. Here's what it does. It tosses the ice upward and the blades spin in the water. This is unbelievable but even after stopping and knocking the ice down MANY MANY MANY times here is what you get.
Layer #1: by the blades: Water (increasing each time)
Layer #2: above the blades: A 1-2 inch gap of AIR!!!
Layer #3: Ice, and after 10 minutes of stopping and knocking the ice back down, it is mostly complete ice cubes.

These were ice cubes from a automatic ice maker--nothing substantial--those half-moon units.

Add more water? Sorry, after 10 minutes it was half water/half ice--no dice. The more water the more it was inclined to eject the ice into that solid layer that NEVER CAME DOWN unless you knocked it down.

Again, any blender I've tried with just some water and ice, does the same thing. I have no real judgement about this blender.

The best we've had yet
We decided to base our blender purchase on Amazon's customer reviews rather than Consumer Reports reviews (couldn't find this brand rated in CR), and are glad we did so. This blender is used daily for smoothies and once a week for frozen margaritas. It's quieter than others we've had in the past and is great at crushing ice....nice, smooth margaritas. It's very sturdy and looks good on the counter. It holds up in the dishwasher too. We had to wait over a month for it since it was on backorder, but are glad we did. After a few months of daily use, we're very happy with it.

More than I expected
I should deduct 1 star since I paid 99.00 for mine but I like
this blender.
Easy to clean. Easy to use.
It is so powerful it will toss food all over your kitchen
even with the main lid on. It creates a vacuum. The blades
are supoer sharp.
I make a lot of smoothies. This blender does it very well.
I tried unpeeled apples and pears and voila!....you can't tell
the peels are in the smoothie.
I also used it for making super fine suger using regular
granulated sugar. If we did not turn it off it would have made
confection sugar. I also used it for grinding grahmam crackers
for a crust....it did it too well....I ended up with graham
cracker flour.
It gets all the nooks a cranies and leaves nothing behind. My
oster blender always needed some help.

At 79.99 this is a good deal and a great blender....I paid more
and I recommend it!

Wonderful Blender
We use this blender just about daily--I make protein shakes; my wife blends various spreads and dips. It works wonderfully both at grinding ice and for blending. The unique six blade system crushes ice in no time flat. The vortex system of the jar allows for excellent blending from top to bottom. A knowledgable chef had told me to look for a blender with a vortex jar, and this was one of the few that I found. This blender works much better than the KitchenAid that it replaces both for blending and ice grinding. I also prefer the three speeds to the two speeds offered by the Oster and Waring blenders. Seemingly well-built and durable. This Breville is highly recommend.

High expectations were shattered!!
I think I may be missing something here...after reading all the good reviews, I tried this blender and was disappointed. It looks good, great actually. Blender container is a great size. BUT...I found speed level one to be too weak and speed level two to be too strong! I was merely pureeing cottage cheese and an egg together and it splattered all over the container and lid, rather than emusifying in the bottom of the container. (You lose a lot of your mixture when you're trying to scrape it out of the sides and lid of the container.) I tried two different methods and the results were the same.
