Amazon.com Review The cookware's "hi-low" system of concentric grooves creates narrow ridges to take utensil abuse, leaving low, wider grooves unscathed to readily release food. Exteriors are charcoal-gray, hard-anodized aluminum for easy cleaning and harder-than-steel durability. Synthetic handles stay cool on the stovetop and are oven-safe to 350 degrees F. Domed lids are 18/10 stainless steel polished to a mirror finish. This cookware, heavy enough to conduct evenly yet light enough to handle easily, carries a lifetime warranty against defects. --Fred Brack What's in the Box Features Reviews (5)
What's next, a Circulon line of stemware that is ruined if you put liquids in them?
I've had a set of Circulon pans for over two years now, and it was the best purchase I ever made. They are so incredibly easy to clean, that you simply swish some soapy water over them and they are done! Nothing sticks, and the finish is incredibly durable. I've simmered hours of soups, stews, spaghetti sauces, stir fries, etc., in these pans, and they still look like new. The pans are well made and distribute heat evenly. The circular pattern in the finish seems to help foods brown too. Warning: the Manufacturer's instructions tell you not to use cooking sprays (like "Pam"), but to use oil instead. (Apparently cooking sprays can get too hot, hurting the finish.) That's the only down side. However, I hope the tiny drizzle of olive oil I use doesn't add too many calories to my dishes! The Manufacturer's instructions also tell you to hand wash the pans. I believe doing so is why my pans still look like new after years of use. However, my husband did put them through the dishwasher once or twice while I was gone on a trip, and it didn't seem to harm them. (Whew!) So, maybe they can stand up to ONE machine wash! But, hand washing them takes just seconds, so you won't mind doing it.

One thing that you should understand about any aluminum or cast iron cookware is staining of the outside surface. Any oils or food that spill onto the outside during cooking will actually be absorbed into the metal surface creating a dark stain that cannot be removed. I consider this part of the seasoning of the cookware and not unattractive but people who like their cookware to always look new should consider stainless steel or something.

Amazon.com Review This 10-piece set outfits a kitchen with all essential pots and pans. It consists of 1-quart and 2-quart saucepans with lids; a 12-inch sauté pan with a lid; an 8-quart stockpot with a lid; and 8-inch and 10-inch skillets. The Hi-Low concentric grooves climb about an inch up the pots and pans' rounded sides, permitting thorough scraping without damaging the nonstick coating. Circulon 2 cookware carries a lifetime warranty against defects and should be hand washed. --Fred Brack What's in the Box Features Reviews (5)

Amazon.com Review Circulon 2 cookware features hard-anodized aluminum construction for efficient heat distribution, and is coated with Circulon's Total Hi-Low food release system--an advanced nonstick coating specifically designed to last longer and release foods easier than other nonsticks. In addition, the pan features Circulon's patented Hi-Low series of concentric grooves that resist utensil abrasion, adding to the durability of the nonstick surface. The stainless-steel colander lid is polished to a mirror finish and includes a stay-cool phenolic handle on the top. As an added bonus, both the top and side handle feature slip-resistant synthetic grips for more secure handling. Like all Circulon 2 cookware, the pan is oven-safe to 350 degrees F and includes a limited lifetime warranty against defects. Hand washing is recommended. --Rivers Janssen Features

Amazon.com Review The 12-inch electric fry pan, for example, looks like a large round griddle, only it's deeper than most (nearly 3 inches) and set on a very sturdy footed base. Its two handles are covered with phenolic plastic, which really does keep them cool to the touch. An 8-inch rod helps stabilize the pan for flipping pancakes or turning fryer legs, and a chubby half circle on the opposite side is useful for carrying the complete ensemble, laden with braised pork chops or Spanish rice, directly to the table. But a cook can do much more than fry in this pan: try roasting, boiling, poaching, slow cooking, braising, stewing, and even baking at low temperatures. Its versatility is derived in part from its depth and high stainless-steel lid, which increase its capacity, and its superb heat control, which heats the pan instantly (no gradual warming) and steadily maintains the selected temperature. Circulon touts its "Hi-Low" system (a series of concentric grooves etched into the nonstick interior) for good reason--while the raised circles are open to the abuse of frequent use, the spiraled surface between remains protected, which is why the pan is guaranteed to stay stick-resistant for at least 10 years. Out of the box, its nonstick properties are superb. It passed my falafel test: mounds of falafel mixture flipped as a unit without crumbling. The appliance is fully immersible and should be washed and dried shortly after use. Take extra care of the lid, which is prone to speckling. The pan comes with a comprehensive use and care booklet, along with over 20 recipes for appetizers, side dishes, entrees, and desserts--from lamb curry to pineapple upside-down cake. --Carol Gnojewski Features Reviews (3)
1. The large handle is inconvenient and unnecessary. It gets in the way when cooking, and especially when you're trying to wash the skillet in the kitchen sink. I've been tempted to wash the skillet in the bathtub because it simply won't fit in my kitchen sink because of the stupid long handle. The handle isn't even practical, because the pan is too heavy to pick up by the long handle alone, even when the pan is empty. They should have put one small handle on each side rather than only one small handle and the one ridiculously large and cumbersome handle they used. 2. The legs get loose and won't stay in place. I tigntened the legs with a screwdriver every time I used this pan. It's enough to drive you crazy. They spin around and make the pan wobbly, which isn't very safe when you're cooking hot foods. DUH! Really bad design on the legs. 2. The knob on the lid is designed so that if you tighten it even the littlest bit too much, it POPS and falls off. The knob can't be replaced due to the way the lid is designed, so you have to buy a whole new lid. What a bad design idea! DUH again! 4. After approximately 2 years of use, I'm not happy with the way the non-stick cooking surface is wearing. It seems to be wearing off even though I clean it gently by hand and only use non-metal utensils. 5. The worst thing of all is what happened last night when I was cooking dinner in this pan. I was browning ground beef, which only takes about 5 minutes or so. Halfway through the cooking, I noticed a strong smell of burning plastic. I didn't see anything melting, but when I unplugged the thermostatic electric cord, it had a very strong smell of burning plastic and burnt wiring. I've spent the entire day on the internet searching for Circulon to see if I can order another cord, but I can't find a website for them, nor can I find any listing in the Yellow Pages here in Chicago, so I guess I'm stuck with a very expensive broken Circulon electric skillet. I would NOT recommend this skillet due to the many reasons listed above. I think I'm actually a bit relieved that the thing burned up and that I can't buy a replacement cord for it, because now I can justify throwing the stupid thing away and getting a more practical one that doesn't have spinning legs and a ridiculously long handle that gets in the way!
I went to the store to buy a Farberware, only to learn that they'd been discontinued. I came across the Circulon skillet at a factory outlet kitchen store and decided to give it a try. I have a large flat round griddle/skillet in Circulon that I've had for years, and also the large and small woks. I've been using this appliance for roughly six months for essentially the same things I used to do in my Presto. However, since the sides are much lower, I can't really do the soups I did in the Presto. For me, the greatest drawback right now is its inability to neatly fry chicken--sides are too low for the grease level without making a mess! And, no, I'm not talking about deep-frying, but instead Southern pan fry style with roughly an inch. However, it does great steaks, croquettes, etc. I haven't seen any wear on the finish so far, and always use the appropriate utensils. It's certainly the prettiest of the available choices. With the excellent luck I've had with Circulon pans and woks, I'm looking forward to a long history with this pan.

The first surprise was the package. The package was so light that I could not beleive that I was holiding a 3.5QT pan in my hands. The sides of the pan are very thin. The bottom has additional layer - but overall, the pan seems thin. The first item that I cooked in this pan was some rice with vegetables. I followed my usual methods - but this was the first time in over several years, I ended up with burnt rice at the bottom! (Good part was that it was easy to cleanup). My wife used it the other day and she also mentioned that the pan seemed more susceptible to burning the food. So overall, I would recommend staying away from this pan! ... Read more
