Amazon.com Review

Great for commuters, office professionals, and one-coffee-drinker households, this personal coffeemaker brews 15 ounces of coffee directly into a stainless-steel travel mug. The mug has a rubber handle for a safe grip and a lid to keep coffee hot. It's tapered to a 2-1/2-inch-diameter bottom, so it fits most vehicle cup holders. The coffeemaker itself is designed for an on-the-go coffee drinker. It has a permanent filter--no messy disposable paper filters required--and shuts off automatically after brewing. The mug, filter, filter basket, and mug lid are dishwasher-safe, and the coffeemaker can also be used to heat water for tea, hot chocolate, and instant foods like oatmeal and soup. Made of gleaming black plastic, it measures 9-3/4 inches high, 7 inches wide, and 6 inches deep, andcarries a one-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Coffee With No Fuss
I read the reviews before ordering this personal coffee maker, and since some people had 'overflow problems' and some talked about coffee not being quite hot enough, I almost didn't get it.

Glad I went ahead. First, I put a small tray under the coffee maker in case of an overflow...I also always use a No. 1 size Mellita Filter in the basket, which makes it easier to clean and may help with the overflow problem, since I have never had that happen.

I use Folger's Classic Roast and use one and a half scoops with a regular size coffee scooper..I fill the cup within about 1/2" of the top and pour it in...put the cup in place, click the switch and ......perfectly hot, full bodied coffee every time with no problems at all so far...have used it about 20 times.

It makes a great large cup of coffee and the mug has a very comfortable feel to it. This coffee maker comes in handy when you don't want to mess with a full pot and it is very fast. I couldn't be more pleased - well worth the price!

5-0 out of 5 stars Superb performance at a great price
I read the other reviews (some negative) that claimed that this coffeemaker has overflow problems. When you have such an easy Brew n' Go model, why not fill up the coffee mug with water to the level you want and dump the water in the top? I did just that, added my standard 1.5 scoops of coffee grinds, and it performed flawlessly and tasted great.

Although it doesn't come with the best cup on the market - for example, it's not spillproof, but it definitely serves the purpose well and is very nice looking. Although you can smell the plastic cover while you drink - especially when it's new - the taste is not affected as was mentioned by others.

And a permanent filter which is so easy to clean is a major benefit!

I have absolutely no complaints, but rather compliments about Amazon's quick service (5 days ahead of the planned date) and a great product at a great price.

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy & Great
I love this coffee maker. I ususally walk down the street for coffee everyday. But, this is easier and I only have to make one cup at a time. The best thing is that I don't have worry about running out of filters! Awesome!

4-0 out of 5 stars very useful
This is great if you don't drink alot of coffee. Ours lasted a year and we're ordering a new one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Convenient Coffee Maker
I love this coffee maker, its convenient, fast and conserves coffee, as I am the only coffee drinker in my home and making a regular size pot of coffee just for myself is wasteful, with this it don't sit on a hot plate and roast and the remainder of the coffee gets thrown out, so I'm able to make a single cup when I want one. I'd reccommend it to anybody, and I have. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect Little Coffee Maker
I received this coffee pot as a gift several years ago and use it almost daily! I suggest using a #1 or #2 filter, the included filter works, but some fine grounds do get through. The coffee comes out quickly and you get a steaming hot cup. Perfect for mornings when you don't have time for a whole pot. Also perfect if you like a variety of flavors. On weekends I'll switch flavors several times so you don't get tired of making a whole pot of one flavor and waste it. It's small for those who don't drink a lot or have a lot of space. It's easy to clean and small and easy to store when not in use. I plan on getting another one for my desk at work!

5-0 out of 5 stars Yummie
This is the best cup of coffee I have ever had!! I used to use sugar in my coffee But with this One cup at a time coffee maker The coffee is so good it does not need sugar. Also A sugestion is to use a paper #2 filter under the permanant filter. It grabs some silt that would get through. Enjoy!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Best gift I ever received
I am a big coffee lover, but I HATE re-heated coffee, this is the best invention, fresh hot coffee in about 3 minutes. If ya want more, ya just gotta brew it

2-0 out of 5 stars Doesn't brew hot coffee!

Amazon.com Review

Black & Decker, long known as a maker of quality tools, brings that same dependability to the kitchen in its line of countertop appliances, such as the ODC425 10-cup Spacemaker thermal carafe coffeemaker. Constructed of sturdy white plastic with stainless steel carafe and accents, the Spacemaker gets its name from its horizontal design and under-cabinet mounting ability. The accompanying mounting hardware includes spacers of various widths to accommodate different styles of cabinet, whether the doors are flush or overhanging. This feature is great for small kitchens or kitchens with little available counter space; in addition, it's very useful for RVs, camping trailers, or pleasure-boat galleys, where it helps to have counter appliances bolted down.

In addition to its space-saving feature, the Black & Decker ODC425 also sports a few other handy features. A stainless steel, thermal carafe keeps coffee hot for up to four hours; it has a white plastic handle and brew-through lid which locks to become airtight. There's programmable timer and clock for setting up an automatic brew time, with a display and five-button control panel on the front of the coffeemaker. And there are two features that allow caffeine cravers to have their first cup of coffee before the brewing's done. Sneak-A-Cup interrupts brewing while a cup is poured; Tap-A-Cup, an actual tap built into the bottom of the carafe handle, draws off a cup without interrupting the brew cycle at all.

The removable brew basket is dishwasher safe (top rack). Hand wash carafe in hot water with a soft sponge and mild detergent; do not use abrasive cleansers or scrubbers on carafe. Rinse the brew basket and carafe thoroughly to ensure purity of coffee flavor. Wipe down the coffeemaker with a warm, damp cloth and dry completely; coffeemaker is not immersible. The carafe measures 10 by 7 by 6-1/2 inches and has a 10-cup (50-fluid-ounce) capacity. (An 10-cup coffeemaker produces 10 5-ounce cups.) The coffeemaker measures 11 by 14 by 12 inches. The Black & Decker ODC425 uses large flat-bottom paper coffee filters (not included). Black & Decker includes mounting hardware, a detailed instruction sheet, and a one-year limited warranty against materials or workmanship. --Garland Withers ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars ZERO stars not an option
If a zero rating was an otpion, it would have been chosen.

The WORST coffee maker I have ever used. After years of no problems with the older 12 cup model Spacemaker, I decided to stick with B&D when purchasing a new coffee maker. I could not find the older model anywhere and decided to get the ODC 400 even after I read 2 bad reviews online for it due to how happy I was with the original. The lid of the 400 is a pain, the coffee pours slow, the spout is too shallow and even taking off the lid doesn't help, only makes it easier to spill. The coffee is hardly "hot" when first brewed and only remains warm for no longer than an hour. I always loved the B&D line because of the space saver feature, but I have to say this product has me totaly disgusted. I consider it a lesson as this product will now end up in the garbage and I will have to settle for a countertop unit of a different brand.

1-0 out of 5 stars worst coffee maker i've owned
If you are looking at this coffee maker, don't! It looks really nice, but there is no heating element to keep the coffee warm. The description says that the pot keeps coffee warm for hours. It is more like minutes. The top to the pot is a screw on and is very hard to get on all the way. I recieved this as a gift with no receipt and was unable to return it or I would have.

2-0 out of 5 stars Problem Pot
This is an astectily pleasing product, however the thermal carafe pot is a pain. It leaks where the metal and the plastic are joined, and the lid is a pain to get off and on. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Good Coffee but a Few Drawbacks
Pros:
- Good tasting hot coffee.
- Includes permanent filter.

Cons:
- Coffee mug is plastic, which means hot coffee rapidly turns warm.
- Besides the removable lid, the coffee mug consists of two pieces, a black container and a brown outer housing. Water tends to seep between the container and housing after a few hand-washings or one run through the dishwasher. You must separate the two pieces to remove the water. That's when you'll discover the seal between the two is simply a thin rubber band.
- Coffee grounds ALWAYS attach to the overhead where the hot water enters the grounds chamber, which means a little extra effort cleaning the unit between brews.
- Coffee grounds frequently enter the water reservoir and seep between the permanent filter and the filter housing, which means even more effort cleaning the unit between brews.

2-0 out of 5 stars Messy
I had this coffee maker for two years before I chucked it. I was hoping this would be a great little addition to my dorm room but it only ever made a mess. Maybe mine was leaky or something but another girl on my floor said she had the same problem. Regardless I have deffinatly had better brews than what this made.

5-0 out of 5 stars Super product
I have had my current Brew 'n Go for 5 years. I don't know what others are complaining about because it makes a perfectly HOT, adequately strong cup of coffee EVERY TIME. On rare occasions when my wife made my coffee and put too much coffee in the filter, it overflowed slightly into the cup but it wasn't the fault of the product. I use a ladle, such as the ones supplied in many coffee cans. Put 2 ladles in and keep your basket and holder clean. Run a cup full of vinegar through once a month to clean it and you'll never have a problem. I suppose like any product, there may be the odd lemon out there waiting to be taken off some retailer's shelf but this is the second one of these coffeemakers I've had in the past 10 yrs and I've had no problems.

3-0 out of 5 stars Hmmm...maybe I have a defective unit
After reading the other reviews, I was surprised to note no one mentioned the single problem I have with my Brew 'N Go: The grounds float into the water reservior and down the outside of the permanent filter as it's brewing, causing the coffee to have grounds in it. It also causes quite a mess.

I must say, though, it does a nice job - I like the taste of the brew. The only other issue I have is it gets the coffee too hot - which might be a good thing if you're commuting.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Coffee Maker for one
I absolutely love this coffee maker. I have one for the home and one for the office. It saves me time in the morning by having the coffee already in the cup and allows me to enjoy my gourmet coffee at work without the extra cost. I have heard complaints that the coffee is too weak. I use 1 1/2 T -2 T and it works just fine. I will admitt it does dripple a little after the coffee is finished, a little price to pay for the convience it gives me. One other con is that the cup is not standard and I am yet to find another travel mug that fits under the unit. A large mug will work for home. ... Read more

By brewing coffee directly into a 40-ounce (eight 5-ounce cups)chrome thermal carafe that keeps coffee hot for four hours thiscoffeemaker eliminates the need for a warming plate that can turncoffee bitter over time. The carafe's brew-through lid seals shut afterbrewing is completed, preventing air from entering and spoiling fullcoffee flavor, and the carafe has a stay-cool bottom so it can beplaced safely on the dining table. Other features include a clock/timerthat can be programmed up to 24 hours in advance for making wake-upcoffee, an automatic pause when the carafe is removed for a midbrewpour, an automatic two-hour shutoff for safety and ease of mind, awindow on the water reservoir with easy-to-read calibrations, and aswing-out, dishwasher-safe filter basket. 1-0 out of 5 stars nope! it was a pain in the a**!
First of all the lid mechanism is stupid! The coffee is supposed to flow into the pot around the sides of it, but it never does! The first time I used it I tightened the lid so after the coffee was made it would stay hot. I'm sitting there in my living room watching TV for about 10 minutes. The coffee maker made the steaming sound when it was done, like all coffee makers. I get up and walk into the kitchen and OH MY GOD! HOLY S***! Coffee all over my counter dripping on the floor. Not a drop in the pot. After I cleaned up the mess I tried it again. This time with the lid completly off. I sat it on the counter and walked into the living room. After 10 minutes I heard the steaming sound and could smell the fresh coffee. I get up and walk into the kitchen. "SON OF A B****! GOD D*****!" Again, coffee and grounds all over the counter and floor. This time it flowed out of the compartment that holds the coffee grounds. Just because I didn't have the lid on which activates the hole to open and allow the coffee to drip into the pot! I'm used to the old glass drip makers. And thats what i'm sticking with. I took this one back to K-Marts and exchanged for a *NORMAL* Mr. Coffee. Also, The pot was very small and NO WAY did it hold 8 cups. Maybe 6. -BIG CINDY

3-0 out of 5 stars Plastic taste
I purchased this coffee maker because it has a clock on it with the auto setting so that when I get up in the morning the coffee is ready. The only problem is when the water sets in the tank over night the coffee tastes like plastic. If the waters is poured in and coffee is made immediately, it doesn't taste like plastic. The whole reason for the purchase was for the auto clock. I have cleaned it by running white vinegar through several times and that hasn't helped. By the way, this is the second pot. I returned the first one, hopeing it was just a lemon. Now I have the same problem with this one. So now I'm back to square one with a coffee pot with no clock. Can you give any suggestions?

4-0 out of 5 stars Stop and think about it.
Let me first say that I have had the B@D Thermal Carafe for a long while.

First: Don't soak the lid...clean the lid carefully but don't submerge. Problem with water in lid solved.

Second: Don't submerge the carafe. You won't have water seeping out of the seam because no water will get in. Put water into the carafe (not COLD if carafe is HOT, I will get to that later). Wash the inside with a long sponge on handle, sparkling clean every time.

Third: Don't ever try to put COLD water into even a WARM carafe, instant explosion (I know). Don't try to mix your coffee in the carafe, they were not made for it.

Lastly: This coffee maker will not spill if you fully tighten the lid and place it carefully into the housing. If you violate the "careful" and the "tighten" part all bets are off. I think this makes great coffee as long as you start with good filtered water and of course good coffee. I have had to replace the Carafe I ordered one they sent me two (took many weeks). I love it to death (except for the small part about the failing on/off switch) Anyways, I like it and will buy another but will skip the timer part and save big $$$ on a lesser model of the same brand. Hope you have good luck.

4-0 out of 5 stars is ok
Everything is a winner except for the markings on the glass tube to let you know how many cups you have. Difficult to read. The whole aparatus is quite high-make sure you have room under your counter. Am sure if the glass in the carafe breaks=you would need to buy the whole thing cheaper.

2-0 out of 5 stars Coffee all over my kitchen
This coffee maker leaked all over my counter almost every other time I used it. I investigated the problem and tried positioning it differently, screwing the top on more or less, and it still leaked. If the top is left unscrewed almost all the way, the plungers are depressed far enough for the coffee to go in, but then you can't get the carafe out. What a pain. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Black & Decker, long known as a maker of quality tools, brings that same dependability to the kitchen in its line of countertop appliances, such as the TCM700 8-cup thermal carafe coffeemaker. Constructed of sturdy black plastic with a steel band accent, the body of the TCM700 looks sleek and professional, like a tool designed for the kitchen. On the front of the brew basket, there's a see-through plastic water fill indicator, with measure lines that take into account the extra water needed to brew a cup of coffee.

The two main highlights of the Black & Decker TCM700 are its thermal carafe and its programmable timer. The carafe is stainless steel, with a black plastic handle and brew-through lid. The lid locks on airtight to keep coffee hot for up to four hours. A pop-up button on top of the lid allows for pouring and for Black & Decker's Sneak-A-Cup feature; this allows impatient caffeine cravers to interrupt brewing in order to, well, sneak a cup of coffee. A clock and timer display is on the front of the coffeemaker, along with a four-button touchpad: On/Off, Program, Hour, and Minute. The timer can be programmed to start brewing at a given time--first thing in the morning, for instance. A hinged lid allows access to the TCM700's removable brew basket, which slide-locks into place for brewing.

The carafe measures 8-1/4 by 6 by 6-3/4 inches and has a 5-cup (40-fluid-ounce) capacity. (An 8-cup coffeemaker produces 8 5-ounce cups.) The coffeemaker measures 11 by 8 by 14-1/2 inches. 2-0 out of 5 stars Leaking in Leesburg
I was a Black and Decker Spacemaker enthusiast, having purchased one in 1996. It worked fine, though I had trouble with the spring that controls the sneak-a-cup feature. The heating unit burned out 6 years later,so I purchased a new one. The valve on the reservoir began to leak late in 2003. I checked the price of a new reservoir ($18) and decided to go for a brand new machine. You guessed it- It leaked like a sieve as soon as I got it home. I got on-line with the folks at Applica, and was assured I would hear from someone "shortly". That was 12 days ago. Also, I got on-line with someone called PriceGrabber hotline who "Assigned a number" and promised to get back to me. Glad I wasn't holding my breath. No answer 12 days later. Today Jan 9 called Applica, talked to a real person, was told to return it to K-Mart. Are there any good under-the-counter coffeemakers out there, or am I doomed to push coffeemakers around my countertop again?? Thanks- MartyYawman@aol.com

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely the best
An excellent coffeemaker that delivers what it promises. I have had mine since 1994 and it is still brewing perfect coffee. It is so efficient that you can actually use a little less coffee and/or a little more water than the standard recommendation of 1/2 cup of ground coffee to the 10-cup mark on the water reservoir.

Early use of the Sneak-A-Cup feature does yield a slightly stronger cup - but worth it if you are in a hurry. Our Black and Decker is also used more than once a day, every day, by the many HomeCare aides who help care for my mother. Their verdict, "Absolutely the best."

3-0 out of 5 stars Fine product, HORRID installation
What a nightmare to install - I had the right tools and lots of experience under my belt.....but nothing could prepare me for the rotten instructions and the marginal, at best, template one is to use for an under the counter installation on a cabinet with an overhang. It took hours, and I do mean hours, to install this beast....a tiny shift in the template whilst drilling spelled disaster and the need for another monsterous hole to be drilled. Just when I thought all was corrected, the spacers weren't quite long enough....and so it went...along with my patience. I seriously considered tossing the entire thing in the trash....but I'm too stubborn, I confess. The machine works fine, no leaks, no problem brewing, programming works just fine, pause 'n serve works well too. The only bitter taste this appliance leaves is born from the installation nightmare....sigh.

1-0 out of 5 stars Applica just doesn't care about quality
Had the ODC150 for about 2 years. Started leaking from reservoir. Was told I would have to buy a new reservoir to replace the rubber water seal/valve at a cost of $24, as it is not a replaceable item. Bulls**t!!!! It takes 5 minutes to replace it. I have emailed their customer service. If I don't get a suitable resolution, I will never buy any B&D products in the future!!

2-0 out of 5 stars Like you need another irritant in the morning?
I purchased this grinder to replace a Krups blade grinder that had finally stopped working after many years of service. Reading several other reviews that complained of the mess this thing makes should have prepared me for the daily explosion of ground coffee across my counter caused by the static buildup of the unit. Also, if you like dark oily coffee beans from Peets, Starbucks or Illy, you'll find yourself constantly patting the top of the machine to keep the beans flowing down to the grinding mechanism. I look foolish enough first thing in the morning, I certainly don't need the help of a crummy coffee grinder to make matters worse. Spend a few extra $ for a better burr grinder or stick with your old blade grinder.

4-0 out of 5 stars Best grinder for the price.
Like other reviewers I was dismayed to see the low overall rating. I usually brew once (on occasion twice) every day and I was going through the cup style grinder about every 4 months. I bought the SmartGrind almost a year ago and it still performs well. I gave it 4 out of a possible 5 stars due to the fact that the collector cup doesn't entirely seal to the mill and some of the grounds will collect at the base of the unit. It's a very minor inconvenience! My favorite feature is the coarseness setting- If I french press, I can adjust the coarseness of the grind for a nearly prefect cup of coffee. I highly recommend this mill for its' durability and features

4-0 out of 5 stars served me well, but...
This grinder has served well, but...the timer quit working soon after purchase, but hitting the button again to restart didn't trouble me as much as cleaning it and taking it back would have. I've used it for more than six months on a regular basis, nearly always at the finest setting, for dark, 'oily' French Roast [Starbucks] beans. I solved the static/mess problem quickly by discovering an empty glass jar ["McCormick" 8 fl. oz. Original-Premium Cocktail Sauce] fit perfectly in the grounds-recepticle and 'neatly' caught the flying coffee. Of course there was some that went into the plastic part, but 99% was in my snap-lid glass jar and not flying all over me or the kitchen! I then just popped the same jar in the fridge to store about 2 days of espresso-ground coffee. I've moved up [way up, to me] to a burr-type grinder and can get my espresso grind much, much finer of course, but for a new coffee nut, this is a great one to start with. Happy Brewing...

5-0 out of 5 stars Good grinder for the money
People who bought this grinder thinking that it was a top-of-the-line grinder, should have done some thinking. I love my grinder, but I am also an amateur in the coffee field. This is a great grinder for those people that just like fresh-ground coffee. For those people who are specific about their coffee, they should spend the money on a higher level grinder. I love it and the coffee tastes great.

1-0 out of 5 stars coffee ritual gone wrong
Making good coffee takes time & effort. Most coffee drinkers recognise this and actually enjoy the extra hassle. This silly grinder is such a pain that I am becoming a tea drinker. I'm writing this review to put off cleaning 5 feet of spewed coffee grounds. The grind button has an evil mind of its own. I wish my grinder would break quickly like some of the other reviewers', so that I could buy a new one without guilt. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars has some problems
I received one of these as a Christmas gift a few years ago. While I prefer the thermal carafe style machines, I can't recommend this one. Like most lower end machines, the brew temperature is too low and the coffee doesn't taste right.

Another problem is that the overflow is desgned to go back into the reservoir. Most people won't run into this problem. I did because I was using a #10 SwissGold filter basket in it. That particular basket is not cone shaped and the coffee needs to flow out the sides.

This exacerbates another problem which is that most coffee makers aren't designed for brewing fresh coffee. There isn't much extra room under the shower head. The stale canned stuff would probably work okay but fresh ground, freshly roasted beans bloom when water first contacts them. I tried to make a strong pot with some freshly roasted beans and had huge mess on my hands. That was too much to deal with before my morning coffee.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not bad, for the price . . .
This is a good, basic thermal-carafe coffee maker. There is a gauge on the outside to show your water level, and it is easy enough to read. Our coffee stays hot in the carafe for a good 4 hours after brewing -- a great thing on days that my husband goes to work at 4:30 and I don't have my first cup until the kids are off to school at 8!

One annoying thing: you cannot turn the brewing off! If you accidentally bump the start button before you get the water filled, or even (as has happened to us more than once) if you bump the start button with a plate or something on the counter you cannot make the thing stop! It has to be unplugged, or it will try to brew through a cycle. We had an older version of this coffee maker that you COULD turn off, so I guess this is an example of features slipping through the cracks in the old engineering department! Other than that, I have no complaints. It makes a good cup of coffee and you can buy it for cheap!

4-0 out of 5 stars Handy Coffee Maker
This is a pretty good coffee maker. It's fast and it keeps the coffee warm for quite a long time. The only downside to it, is that it's a 8 cup instead of the regular 12 cup. It automatically shuts off so you don't have to worry if you left the coffee maker on. I think the carafe pot is the way to go. The coffee stays warm and it doesn't break like the glass ones.

2-0 out of 5 stars What is the point...
..if the thermos doesn't keep the coffee warm. I wish we didn't have to throw our old coffee maker with themos away because of rusting on the bottom. After 7 years of use it still worked and kept the coffee very warm to hot up to five hours. This one barely kept it luke warm for two. A big dissapointment. The coffee tasted okay if you like it luke warm. ... Read more

By brewing coffee directly into a 40-ounce (eight 5-ounce cups) insulatedthermal carafe that keeps coffee hot for four hours, this coffeemaker eliminates the needfor a warming plate (which may make coffee bitter over time). The carafe's brew-throughlid seals shut after brewing is completed, preventing air from entering and spoiling fullcoffee flavor, and the carafe has a stay-cool bottom so it can be placed safely on thedining table. Other features include a clock/timer that can be programmed up to 24 hoursin advance for making "wake up" coffee, an automatic pause when the carafe is removedfor a midbrew pour, an automatic two-hour shutoff for safety and ease of mind, a windowon the water reservoir with easy-to-read calibrations, and a swing-out, dishwasher-safefilter basket. The coffeemaker, clad in bright white plastic, measures 9-3/4 inches wide(including carafe handle), 15 inches high, and 10 inches deep. --Fred Brack ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellento!!
This is a fabulous find for those who know good coffee when they've tasted it, but can't afford to spend what it usually takes to get it.
The caraffe keeps the coffee hot and steamy for hours, and the taste is always right on the money.
I am getting this cofee maker for my sister and mom. I love it!!

2-0 out of 5 stars BIG MISTAKE
I received this as a Christmas present from some friends. After carefully examining the instructions, I thought it was pretty clear how to use this coffeemaker.

There is a drain hole in the back and if you accidentally overfill it or have it filled to the max line and need to move the coffeemaker, water pours out from the back through this hole.

When I made my first pot of coffee, everything went well. The 2nd pot wasn't so good -- I had coffee grounds literally sputtering out all over the place (walls, counter, all over the machine.

It is a messy unit as well. When removing the basket to empty it, i've noticed that the basket is often still filled with coffee that hadn't drained into the pot.

I've had better coffeemakers in the past that brewed into a carafe; the coffee doesn't stay hot as long as some of the more expensive units, the spout isn't that great; it dribbles.

I would strongly suggest spending the extra money on a better quality unit.

1-0 out of 5 stars DON'T WAIST YOUR MONEY OR TIME ON THIS ONE
This is the worst coffeemaker I have every used. I can't believe that anyone had a good experience with this coffee maker. You have to babysit this coffeemaker when you turn it on. If not, the basket will spill coffee grounds all over your counter. You have to hit the bull's eye when placing the coffee pot on the coffee maker.(Because of sneak a cup feature) I called the manufactor to complain, they could care less about my complaint. I am very unhappy with Black and Decker. Hope this reveiw helps someone to avoid this frustration.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money on this one!
I purchased both the white and black models of this maker (not sure why a price difference) and use them at work. I use one for tea and the other for coffee. I have had constant problems with the one used for coffee. The water either comes thru faster than the filter will process it thru the coffee OR the spring mechanism that allows the water to drip thru the filter into the pot is not lined up exactly right and in both cases...we get 40 oz. of coffee and grinds flowing over the edge of the coffee basket. If I have to stand by the coffee pot to make sure it works properly each time I start it up, it's not worth the money I spent on it. Like most things in life...spend cheap, get cheap. I would definitely keep looking for another coffee maker. Any coffee maker that explodes like other customers have mentioned is reason enough to stay away from this impending disaster. I didn't catch the explosion reviews until a few months after my purchase.

1-0 out of 5 stars Stopped working
I had a pervious Black & Decker Thermal carafe coffeemaker for years and loved it. I replaced it with a new one, when I broke the carafe cleaning it (I didn't read the directions on how to clean it). So I bought another one but it leaked out of the bottom ,after about two months so I exchanged it for a new one. That one literally stopped working after about a month, so I returned that one. I would not recommend buying this coffeemaker, but I do love the carafe feature and plan on buying another coffeemaker with this feature. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I adore this coffee maker!!!
I've had one of these Brew-N-Go's for two years and I just adore it. My mother broke my first one while visiting (it's a gift she has with appliances) and even though I loved this one I decided to try a Cuisinart brand that makes two cups. I absolutely hate that thing! So, I went out and bought another Brew-N-Go but they only had the one with the metal cup (I can't put that in the microwave) but I bought it anyway since I could use the cup I got with the first one and regular cups when I'm staying at home. I ended up taking this one to work and I've been dealing with the dreaded Cuisinart one on the weekends. Now I'm buying my 3rd Brew-N-Go for sanity's sake and my husband can have the other evil machine (I bet we throw it away). Why do I love this one so much?
1. Permanent filter (never having to remember to buy filters!)
2. When you lift the lid up to make another cup of coffee, water from the steam from the previous cup doesn't drip down the outside of the coffee maker leaving a puddle under the maker. (the Cuisinart one does)
3. Left hand friendly!!!!!
4. You don't have to use a special brand of coffee or a special coffee pod though you could use one if you wished.

5-0 out of 5 stars Mine is 8 years old, used 3-4x a day, and is working fine.
What could be wrong with a fresh cup of coffee with every cup? No one in my office makes it twice the same way in the big machine, so I just make my own.

For those of you that don't like having to clean the filter - Duh!
Try putting a paper filter in it. I buy the #2 filters and fold them twice. I also often make two cups before changing the filter. #1 filters work, but are too small to use twice.

4-0 out of 5 stars I love this product, BUT
I'm on my second in ten years...
It's the fastest way to an ultra fresh cup of coffee.
I could care less about the "go" part - they should sell it cheaper without the stupid mugs.
BUT WHERE THE HECK DO YOU GET SPARE FILTERS ON THE WEB?!?!??!?! ARGH.

3-0 out of 5 stars Decent, but messy.
The coffee made by this was fine, but the "no buying filters" angle basically means it has a filter in it that must be washed out. Hence, it's a pain to clean. I've switched to an old garage sale Mr. Coffee maker with paper filters and am now thoroughly happy. Fine for a single-cup-swilling person who doesn't mind cleaning a filter (it's worse than it sounds- wet coffee grounds stick to everything).

1-0 out of 5 stars WORTHLESS
I bought this machine from walmart for $9.99 hoping that it would let me make iced coffee at work. It failed miserably. Then I tried using it to make hot coffee. Once again, failure. Do not waste your money. There's a reason why it is so cheap. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars THE WORST grinder design.
This grinder is SO messy! Coffee grounds end up everywhere on the counter, the tray below the output cup fills with grounds which stick to the bottom of the cup which then flake onto the counter (again) when the cup is removed. The rubber LID on the output cup is poorly designed and grounds stick to its underside which (again) flake off onto the counter when it is removed to get at the coffee. I have had this for two months and hate it. The motor struggles quite abit and seems to indicate it will fail soon. Let's hope so...then I can justify throwing the piece of junk in the trash. Very poor design work. I am really shocked at B&D for releasing this grinder. Please give me back my old italian grinder; may it rest in piece after 15 years.

1-0 out of 5 stars This thing sux!
DO NOT waste your money. I just threw mine in the trash. It clogs, and it makes more mess than you would ever believe. I felt bad ... my kids gave it to me for my birthday, but it is such a piece of junk that I couldn't justify it taking up my cabinet space. I too would rather buy pre-ground coffee then deal with this thing.

1-0 out of 5 stars Complete Useless Junk with Bad Quality Control & Bad Design
What a mess this thing is. It clogs continually (I have to dig out the little chute with a shishkebab skewer two or three times each grind session), makes a huge mess, the timer never worked (was broken when box opened) and I have to repeatedly press the on button to grind just one hopper-full. This is absolutely one of the worst products I've ever bought and to make it worse Black & Decker knows it's junk because the grind ring does fine, medium, and coarse, but the directions tell you not to use the fine setting, so they know about the problem and this thing is useless for espresso. What a rip-off. Don'tmake the mistake I did by giving this company your money.

1-0 out of 5 stars Cheaply made junk.
This thing makes a real mess, and the plastic teeth that hold the hopper broke the first week I had it. This is poorly designed and useless. Don't waste your money. One smart thing they did was to include a long handled scoop that has two separate functions, one side to measure and one with which to clean.

1-0 out of 5 stars A coffee drinkers nightmare
A terrible, mess-making design. This mill obviously was NOT designed by "real" coffee drinkers. After using it the first few times I wondered how this machine made it to the store shelf. Didn't they use it in testing before marketing it?!?!? Obviously not, or they would have sent this design back to the drawing board. The first few times I grabbed the mill from under the counter to make coffee, I grabbed it by the top of the bean container. It comes right off spilling beans everywhere. I finally learned that if you want to move the machine you must do so carefully-once I just tried to push it out of my way and the top came off again making a huge mess. The cup that stores the grounds doesn't fit on the machine very well. It is common for the grounds to fly out the side making yet another mess. We have also found that it clogs very easily causing the machine to overheat. We bought this in a late night visit to our local grocery store after our trusty Krups mill died after 10 years. We won't make that mistake again! I am ordering a new Krups mill today! ... Read more
