Amazon.com Review

The champ is waging an all-out war on fat with an ever-expanding line of cookware that works to chase away as much fat as possible. This hard anodized grill pan has a nonstick surface, so you don't need to use as much oil or butter while cooking. In addition, the high ribs that radiate from the pan's center hold foods above any fat created during the cooking process. The pan's sloping surface, higher in the center and lower at the edges, draws the pooled fat away, and pouring spouts on both sides of the pan enable you to drain it with ease.

The special materials used in this pan make it a bit finicky. The manufacturer suggests not exceeding medium heat; the grill pan conducts heat well but will require a few minutes of preheating, especially for searing meats. Also, the pan is intended only for gas and electric ranges; it could damage ceramic hob or flat-top cooking surfaces. You can slip the pan without the lid into the oven up to 390 degrees F; the lid can only withstand 325 degrees F. This pan is not recommended for the dishwasher, so count on washing it by hand with hot, soapy water. --Cynthia Nims ... Read more

The bottom of this pan has a sloped surface to draw excess fat and other liquids down to one side; a pouring lip makes draining easy. The nonstick surface not only lets you minimize added fat for cooking but also helps make cleanup a breeze. Parallel ribs keep food above the fat and make attractive grill marks on meats. The pan should be used over medium heat, at the highest--so you'll need to preheat it for a couple of minutes to get good sear marks on the food. The pan is intended only for gas and electric ranges; it could damage ceramic hob or flat-top cooking surfaces. It's not recommended for the dishwasher, so count on washing it by hand with hot, soapy water. --Cynthia Nims ... Read more

This could quickly become one of your favorite pans. The pan's large 12-inch size, deep sides, and nonstick surface make it practical and versatile. Heavy-duty construction, including a stainless-steel stay-cool handle securely riveted to the pan, make this one strong piece of cookware--would you expect anything less from something with George Foreman's name on it? No-fuss, low-fat cooking has never been easier. The ribs that radiate from the center of this grill pan hold the food above fat and other liquids that accumulate during cooking. The base of the pan is subtly sloped--higher at the center and lower at the edges--to drain grease and fat to the sides for easy removal from one of the two pouring lips. Its heavy-duty aluminum construction makes this one sturdy pan; even the stainless-steel stay-cool handle is securely riveted in place.

With a unique design, this George Foreman grill pan fights fat two ways: It has a nonstick surface, so you can use less oil; and it separates grease from meat while cooking. Twelve inches in diameter, the pan features patented, raised "ribs" that drain away fat and grease. Simply cook food on these ribs and then pour the excess oil out of the specially designed spout on the side of the pan. The pouring technique takes a little practice ("slowly and carefully" is what the instructions advise), but once you've got it down it comes naturally.

The pan is made with a Teflon nonstick interior and a PES (polyester) exterior, and is designed for use on a stovetop or in the oven (up to 390 degrees F), but never under an oven broiler or in a microwave. It comes with a one-year limited warranty. --Ariel Meadow Stallings ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

This pan goes all-out in the fight against fat. The heavy-duty hard anodized surface provides great durability, and the nonstick interior means you can use a minimum of added fat. Ribs radiate from the center of the pan, holding the food above any fat or other liquids that accumulate during cooking. And finally, the patented ring design provides a channel around the edge of the pan, making it easy to pour off fat even while cooking. Just tilt the pan to catch the fat in the channel; continue tilting in a circular motion to draw the fat upward to the pouring lip for easy removal.

The special materials used in this pan make it a bit finicky. The manufacturer suggests cooking over medium heat at the highest; the grill pan conducts heat well but will require a few minutes of preheating, especially for searing meats. The pan is intended only for gas and electric ranges; it could damage ceramic hob or flat-top cooking surfaces.
