Amazon.com Review

Decorative and graceful, this teakettle harkens to the days of wood-burning stoves. There’s no whistle to pierce your ears, just a slender S-shaped spout that pours without dripping. In concession to modern times, the zinc cast handle features a heat-resistant phenolic grip, and the lid knob is made of the same substance. Polished to a mirror finish, the 18/10 stainless steel will not rust and only needs a soft rub with a cloth to stay shiny. The 9-1/2-inch-high teakettle measures 9 inches across the bottom, providing greater heating surface and a quicker boil. --Ann Bieri ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Copco fusion stainless steel tea kettle
This is not exactly a review because I did not keep the kettle I purchased. I purchased it initially because of its handsome appearance and advertised drip-proof spout. I returned it because of the steel ball and screen whose function I did not understand, and the clerk could not figure it out either. Can anyone explain it?

1-0 out of 5 stars Looks good, poor quality
I've bought two of these kettles and it looks great. Unfortunately I've had to return two of these kettles because of the poor quality plastic used in the handle. In each return (and even some boxes that I opened in a store) the problem was the same: the platic handle broke. I guess the outward pressure of the metal portion of the handle is too strong for the plastic used and it snaps. When it happened once, it could be a fluke. It happened twice, I'm starting to get suspicious. I open boxes in a store and see the same problem and we have a design flaw. I've given up on this kettle and will keep looking for a stylish kettle.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fusion Teakettle Sturdy with Loud Whistle
I found this teakettle to be extremely sturdy and well made. The little stainless steel ball located inside the spout is secured well within the two tiny screens on either side of the spout. This function does work well and causes water to "flow" out smoothly and evenly from the spout.
The whistle feature is located inside the lid, performs well and is loud enough so that it can be heard from our home office upstairs. I love the design and stainless steel/enamel finish.
The handle is comfortable but your wrist has to bend at a slightly awkward angle to pour; it doesn't detract from the overall performance of this kettle. I am very satisfied with it and highly recommend it.

3-0 out of 5 stars Looks better than performs
I bought one of these and returned it. First, the one I had had a little chip in the enamel. The whistle is so anemic that if you put it on the stove and go out of the room and think you're going to hear the whistle - forget it. You will burn up the pot. It has a nice but gimmicky pouring device - ball bearing in the spout. It always sounds like there's something in the pot when it moves around, but it does prevent any drips from coming out. I also thought it was awkward and heavy, but I"m used to the Revere ware style of kettle. If you don't care whether the thing whistles or not, try this.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fusion Stainless Steel Teakettle
This teakettle is well constructed and heats the water well. The heat resistant handle and the drip free spout are nice features. I have two complaints about the kettle, however.

The first is very minor. The care instructions included are obviously generic instructions which apply more to plain steel kettles, not stainless. The instructions warn about letting water sit in the pot,etc... That isn't a problem with this kettle due to its construction.

The second issue is that the kettle doesn't whistle very well. Most of the steam escapes through the spout instead of the whistle on the lid. If you cover the spout, the lid whistles, but it doesn't if the spout is uncovered. (There was no plug/cover supplied for the spout, and I haven't seen one in any of the photo's.) ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Depending on the amount of burner heat and how tightly the lid is in place, this 2-1/2-quart whistling teakettle sends out a wistful low note or a full-throated aria to let you know when water is boiling. Because the whistling spout is conveniently built right into the handle, there’s no hot stopper to pull out for pouring. A thumb-operated trigger mechanism pulls the spout open, thereby shutting off the whistle, and can lock in the open position for safe pouring. The broad, low shape of the kettle places a greater surface area on the burner, which in turn brings water to a boil more quickly. Gracefully rounded and high off the hot metal, the heat-resistant phenolic handle stays cool, as does the smaller lifting handle on the 18/10 stainless-steel lid. Made of steel coated with an attractive porcelain enamel, the kettle measures 9 by 8 inches. --Ann Bieri ... Read more

This set of two insulated mugs makes a great gift for the commuter who likes to sip on the road and then have a clean mug waiting at the office. The tall14-ounce mug fits all standard car cup holders and features a screw-on lid with tab that slides safely shut over the sip opening. Non-slip material around the waist along with a large hook handle help keep this mug safely in hand. The wide-based, 16-ounce mug with press-fit lid stays secure on a desk or conference table with its broad non-slip base, while its ergonomic handle helps you hoist it when it’s full of soup or coffee. Both keep liquids hot or cold for up to three hours. With an exterior of 18/8 stainless steel and a plastic lining, each has enough buffer at the top to keep lips away from hot metal. For best results, wash by hand in hot soapy water. --Ann Bieri ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Trade off for such a low price
I bought the copco coffee mug set recently and I must say that I'm a bit disappointed with the construction aspect. So far I have used the travel mug it's pretty aesthetically pleasing for its price, but the construction is not at all what I had expected. Although it maintains the temperature of the liquid (assuming prime it with hot/ cold water for 5 minutes prior to the addition of your beverage of choice), it's neither spill proof or stable. The slide tab that is on the screw cap only serves to keep foreign objects from entering your mug and doesn't really prevent leakage if tip over or agitated slightly. If anything it only allows for less liquid would discharge than if it was completely open. Basically if it tips over or you walk with it, you'll probably get wet or scalded in the first case and/ or a pool will start to form in the second case. The word spill-PROOF is definitely misleading and shoudln't even be included. In addition, the skid-proof foam ring is a good idea, however the construction of the handle makes the mug a bit unstable. It gets knockled over quite easily.

Summary:
PRO: inexpensive, good grips, nice appearance, lefty-right friendly, insulating

CON: poor cap mechanism that doesn't contain liquid, travel is proned to tipping over ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars I'm a little teapot...
Sorry, I couldn't resist. :o) This teapot is small but affordable. Nice loud whistle. You just have to be careful when removing the stopper as it gets very hot ( obviously ) unlike the more expensive ones that have the push button release thingy ( couldn't think of a better word ). Great deal, I use it all the time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great bargain
Very inexpensive, and looks great in my red kitchen. It also has a decent whistle, so I can hear it with the stereo on. Be aware that it is a smaller kettle, and may not be great for large families or gatherings.

4-0 out of 5 stars cute, cheap and convient
I received this tea kettle from my wedding registry over a year ago and its still in great condition. I leave it on my stove top, as it matches my red and black kitchen/dining room decor. Great for making tea or hot chocolate this Christmastime. I think I might get one for my mother-n-law for Christmas.

2-0 out of 5 stars I love red in the kitchen
Yes, it's an attractive tea kettle. However, when I moved house and had to give up my gas stove for an electric stove, the kettle didn't survive. The enamel chipped off the bottom and sometimes pops off with a dramatic sound during heating.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great teakettle
I just purchased this item a few weeks ago. It's small and perfect for a few cups of tea. It seems well made and I am confident it will last quite a while. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

When it’s time for a tea party, this kettle boils enough water for several pots. Generously proportioned and larger than most teakettles, the three-quart Viola features a wide base that places a greater surface area on the burner, which in turn brings water to a boil more quickly. A gentle harmonic whistle plays when the water is ready, and a thumb-push mechanism lifts the whistle lid and locks open for convenient, safe pouring. The spout itself is wide enough to fill easily from a tap if desired. Pouring with a nice balance, the gracefully rounded handle is made of heat-resistant phenolic, as is the entire top of the oval 18/10 stainless-steel lid. Copco has made the mirror-finish, 18/10 stainless steel of the body 20 percent thicker than most similar teakettles, which gives it a very substantial, quality feel. The Viola measures 8-3/4 by 9-3/4 inches. --Ann Bieri ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Copco Yellow Teakettle
I ordered a Copco Yellow Teakettle. It came to me with a large portion of the yellow 'scrapped' off; there was just this big black 'hole' in the bottom portion of the teakettle. I had to ship it back - AND I HAD TO PAY POSTAGE TO SHIP IT BACK!! It was damaged when it came to me. It was a darling teakettle but I've already spent money on shipping twice now - and I still don't have a yellow teakettle. So I'm not ordering it again.

3-0 out of 5 stars Copco Torino looks great but doesn't deliver
Not wanting an ordinary teakettle, we were drawn to the Copco Torino because of the graceful simplicity of its visual design. For that, I think it deserves an award. But in everday use we've found the Torino disappointing. Because the "spout" is actually a flange at the top of the kettle, you have to tip it almost upside down to get all the water out. As you do this, steam rises from the opening and makes your hand uncomfortably warm, even with the removable steam guard placed in the opening. If you grasp the handle lower to compensate for this, your palm contacts the metal heat guard at the bottom of the handle. Ouch! Also, the wide flange doesn't provide a well-focused stream of water. We'll be returning this one. Our quest for the perfect kettle goes on.... ... Read more
