Best buy for the money!
It was really lucky that our old processor went on the fritz at the same time Amazon was offering this as a special for $99! From doing some other shopping around, we expected to spend around $200. From the time it arrived, the processor has been used at least once daily. The use and care booklet provided more than enough info to get great results from the get go. The video got tossed, so cannot comment on its value. We highly recommend this, especially at the $99 price.

New to food processors
This is my first procesor,Which I bought after much thought. I have had it a week and am very pleased with the machine. I bought this one because it came with a video,its a good video, and reduced my learning curve. For under $100 I have all the blades I need too. I have ways to go before I use this machine instinctively, but i have been practicing on dog bisquits,and have a lot of happy dogs. This was a good buy.

Useful for a number of chores in the kitchen
While I usually chop on a plastic cutting board with a big chef's knife, the Cuisinart makes several tasks a lot easier. Chopping cooked or raw meat is one. If you are making hash from leftover corned beef, a short burst in this food processor is the easiest way to go. For mixing certain pastry doughs (pie or pate brisee) this is also a very good item to have, although you have to be careful to go slowly and not overprocess. The one thing the Cuisinart does is heat up the dough if you whirl it around too much, so you have to be careful. And if you put too heavy a bread dough in, using the plastic bread blade, you can heat the shaft up enough to jam the blade onto the central post and that's a big nuisance. However, with these cautions, the Cuisinart is hands-down my favorite food processor and for shredding, slicing thinly or chopping, pretty much the best kitchen appliance for the job.

Shop for bargains
I got a similar model, (must have been prior to this one)...It doesn't have a couple of the attachments and it has a smaller feed tube, but I can't imagine these things being worth the extra ... I really like how it works though, it is plenty powerful and can be controlled so that you can actually roughly chop things for salsa.

A "gadget" that really works
I bought the Cuisinart food processor last Christmas...as a gift to myself. My husband rolled his eyes when I told him I had bought this..he thought this was another gadget that would get used once and then disappear forever in a kitchen cabinet. I absolutely love this machine...I use it almost everyday from chopping vegetables to making cookie/cake dough. It is easy to use...easy to put together and best off all..easy to clean. Fantastic Cookware Set at a Terrific Price
After comparing major cookware lines, All Clad, Emeril, Wolfgang Puck, Jamie Oliver online, as well as in major stores, Williams Sonoma, Macy's, Linen n Things, etc., I purchased Cuisinart's Chefs Classic set. Quality, features, and value could not be matched! The price (with free shipping), also included a kitchen tools set, a nice bonus.

Thanksgiving was my big "road test". The quality is outstanding! The mirror finish stainless kettles have a nice weight, well-fitting lids, classy sturdy riveted handles, flat bottoms that fit nicely on the burners, and stay-cool handles. They heat evenly. I do not like nonstick cookware, and by adding a little water to the pan after cooking, cleanup was a breeze. I put them all in the dishwasher and they come out sparkling.

I bought a chrome potrack and display them proudly. They indeed look and perform like very high-priced cookware. This was indeed a great purchase!

Any minor spotting or discloration from use, disappears like magic with the use of a small amount of Barkeeper's Friend powder.

I am so pleased with my set that I have already added to it; I purchased a 2qt. and 3qt. saucepan, and the 5 1/2 qt. saute pan. The saute pan is a work of art; especially good for those big pieces of meat on Holidays, and at $39.99, an unbelievable value. I plan on purchasing several as gifts.

It is also ovenproof to 550 degrees; something not found in the plastic-lid products.

You will not be disappointed.

Best cookware ever!
My husband and I purchased this cookwear after our wedding with some of our gift money. We considered Calphalon, Anolon, AllClad and Circulon as options, but we saw this one at a local kitchen supply store and bought it there. They were offering it for a good deal but we came home and found this even lower price at Amazon so we returned the set at the store and bought it online. We're glad we did! The value is outstanding. This cookwear cooks quickly and evenly, the handles stay nice and cool and it is a breeze to clean up. Just put the pan in the sink with some water, let it soak for a few minutes and it wipes clean right away. It's even easier to clean than my old nonstick! We also bought the 5 1/2 quart saute pan, a two-piece nonstick skillet set (still comes in handy for scrambling eggs and cooking ultra low-fat meals) and the four-piece utensil set came free with the 10-piece set...Cuisinart makes excellent products...you'd be silly not to treat yourself to quality cookwear.

I love my new cookware!
I have been in need of new cookware for a long time and through some research, including reviews here on Amazon, I decided this Cuisinart Chef's Classic Stainless 10-Piece set was the perfect choice. When this beautiful set of cookware arrived at my house, I was almost afraid to use it. The mirror finish was so gorgeous and I didn't want to get it dirty and risk it never looking good again! Of course, I got over it and used it right away.

Not only is this set beautiful, but also incredibly functional. The heat was dispersed evenly, making cooking so much nicer. The lids on this set are fantastic as well. As for clean up, they clean so easily and yes, still look gorgeous.

If you are looking for a great cookware set that holds up well on the stove, in the broiler and even in the freezer, this is the set for you. And the price is right!

I purchased the thermal carafe version 10 cup
- previous was the typical old plastic type with glass carafe

Good Points:
- much considerable improvement in coffee taste now
- the thermal carafe with autoseal until poured keeps coffee hot and no stale or burnt taste, it is double lined with stainless steel
- auto shutoff of heating element immediately after brewing prevents burning of coffee and electricity bills
- the 1-4 cup extra heat excellent idea
- the built-in grinding process
- choice of using paper filter or gold filter basket
- beeping tells you when coffee is ready
- does not have that ugly water level marker, it has a built-in marker where you pour water, a 3-D step ladder sort of speak
- does not expell any heat or humidity from unit, well sealed
- nice design and looks

Bad Points:
- cannot tell amount coffee left in carafe
- pours out slowly from carafe
- carafe autoseal feature requires you to pour at a steeper angle to get faster flow output which still isn't fast enough for me
- grinder howls for about 30 seconds when running, it does not adjust grind-time for amount of coffee beans inside, it defaults to a 10 cup grind, solving this would require some clever engineering idea
- I find I have to clean more than my old machine, I clean the grinder and lid, basket and basket lid, ... the grinder does create a lot fine coffee dust which does get packed into every nook and cranny

Was skeptical, but I love it.
I bought this Cuisinart instead of the DCC-1200 because I wanted a thermal pot, not a glass carafe. I wasn't too keen on the grind feature, but after using it for a week, I LOVE it.

Brewing from fresh-ground, high-quality beans is definitely the way to go. And it's so simple -- dump the beans in at night, wake up to a great cup. As for cleanup: big deal. When I have time, I wash out the grinder. If I'm in a rush (which is most mornings), I wipe it out with a paper towel. Small price to pay for really tasty coffee.

Cuisinart must've redesigned the carafe, because mine is absolutely drip-free. After reading the negative reviews below, I tried to get mine to drip/spill, and I couldn't.

The only reason I'm not giving this machine five stars is that the DCC-1200 looks so much cooler (though this model does look pretty good in my kitchen).

They must have fixed problems of previous reviewers.
Several older reviews indicated a lot of problems, so I was reluctant to purchase one, but family members love theirs, so I took a chance. I love it! After a month of use, I've had no leaks on the counter, and this is the first coffee carafe I've ever had that actually pours correctly!And it actually makes HOT coffee! There are a lot of parts to clean(7, if you count the carafe and lid separately) but you get used to it. It's worth it for the rich, very hot coffee it makes! A word of advise: READ THE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING! and expect to spend a half-hour learning to use it. You'll avoid the "coffee on the counter" problem cited by other users.

Outstanding Customer Service!
We purchased this coffee maker from Foley's around Christmas. It was the previous model DGB-500. Our grinding basket jammed and it took some work to get it out. When we removed it, we noticed that the seal between the grinding blades and the basket was damaged. Long story short, we called Cuisinart (on a Saturday, no less!) and got a customer service agent immediately. We simply gave the serrial number of the coffee pot and model number and they sent us a new grinding basket! It was that easy. By the way, THE WARRANTY ON THIS COFFEE MAKER IS is 3 YEARS! We previously had a Melitta Mlll and Brew. The heating element failed, and we attempted to get warranty service for it. The customer service agent refused to allow us to send the coffee maker without a receipt. PAY THE DIFFERENCE AND BUY THE CUISINART, YOU'LL BE GLAD YOU DID!!!

Don't buy it!
Don't buy this coffee pot! I can't believe Cuisinart made a piece of junk like this. Here are a few cons:

1. The built in coffee grinder doesn't let you grind enough beans to make 10 cups of strong coffee. Either you have to grind it separately, defeating the whole purpose of this model, or you can only make 6-8 cups.

2. The steam from the coffee soaks the grinder, turning it into a muddy mess you have to clean every time you make coffee.

3. The grinder often leaves whole beans inside, clogging up the spout.

4. When you pour the coffee, the carafe leaks, dripping a puddle of coffee onto your counter top.

5. On several occasions I've set the timer only to wake up to coffee all over my kitchen floor! Yes, you read right. The coffee often doesn't even make it into the carafe. Rather, it leaks over the lid and ends up all over you counter top and kitchen floor. Not what I had in mind when "waking up to the smell of coffee."

Do yourself a favor and pick a different model. This one is a lemon. ... Read more

I love this machine!
I used this to make a custard based ice cream (recipe below) and it came out WONDERFULLY!The ice cream was done in 20 minutes and the consistency was fluffy.The recipe I made before (non custard) didn't thicken as nice, but I believe it was because it was not made with the custard base.I have uploaded a customer image of the maker in action near the end of the cycle.

*TIP*Make sure the bowl is completely frozen and do not pull it out until you are ready to pour the ingredients in.

Custard Base Recipe:

Ingredients for base - 4 egg yolks, 1 cup milk, 1/2 cup sugar.
For Ice cream - base, 1 cup fresh heavy cream, 2 teaspoons vanilla extract.

Directions - In a double boiler slowly bring milk to a boil.In a glass bowl mix together egg yolks and sugar until thickened.Slowly pour in the milk stirring constantly.Return to double boiler and slowly heat until thickened.(Mixture will stick to back of the spoon.DO NOT BOIL!Remove from heat and allow to cool.(I recommend putting it in the freezer for about 2 hours before using.)When the mixture is cooled mix in the heavy cream and vanilla.According to maker directions, turn on machine and slowly pour mixture in. If you want to add chips, fruit or anything else to the ice cream, do it about 5 minutes before the end of the cycle.Enjoy!

Awesome and Easy!
I purchased this after much debate about whether or not I needed a two quart ice cream maker or just go with the original Cuisinart $49.95 one. I am so glad i bought this one. It is so great. Easy to use, makes alot of ice cream,so sleek looking.

I have a tiny kicthen and everytime I turn around I am buying something that will clutter my counterspace, but I have to say this I don't mind. It is square, not to bulky and the cord fits nicely up inside the machine. It doesn't dangle or anything. It's right next to my KitchenAid.

I have made two recipes out of the manual that comes with the machine. I usually don't like "manual recipes" however, these are fantastic. The Mango Gelato was a huge hit with family and friends. One girl who doesn't like ice cream, liked it.The simple ice creams that dont require making a custard, you just mix all the ingredients together and freeze, I was thinking it would be terrible. It wasn't, so you can make ice cream in 30minutes from start to finish with those recipes.

I do keep the bowl in the freezer like others suggested with the smaller ice cream maker. It has been very useful to have it already frozen when I am ready to make ice cream.

As far as noise, it is not as quiet as I thought, but don't let that scare you. It's not like turning on a blender and leaving it running for 25 minutes. It's not an annoying noise. Not like the old ice cream makers with the ice and stuff. It is fun to watch it churn too. So the noise just fades to the background.

It's very interactive and a great thing to do with kids and company.

Terrific!
This toaster is fabulous! I use it every single day and have not had any problems whatsoever with it. The price was great too! Bagels, toaster pastries, frozen waffles all come out perfectly and the kids have no problems using this. If you need a four slice toaster, this is it!

Perfectly toasted every time. The perfect bagle toaster. Easy clean crumb tray, and cool to the touch for little fingers.
My mom and sister liked it so much that after toasting at my house the each bought one of their own. Perfer bagels over white bread.The wide slots accomadate any bread length and width. Great for homemade bread too. Highly recommend it for your own use. Now if just could slice and load the bagel by itself it would be fantastic beyond words.

this is not your momma's toaster....
I got this when it was $10.99 and did not expect all of the features that it has. It comes in a Cuisinart box and if it did not say "refurbished" on the box, you would never know that it was not brand new. Great for differant size breads and frozen breakfast items such as waffles and pancakes.

Perfect Everytime!
I was a bit skeptical when I purchased this re-conditioned model, but was pleasantly surprised when I received it in its original box with the packing. After reviewing the manual, it was easy to use and the bread toasted beautifully. I thought if the bread toasted evenly, what about bagels or even muffins?...boy, did it live up to its claim--perfect everytime!

Good machine
This is a fine machine. It does a good job of grinding beans, it does so with a minimum of fuss, it's clean, and it's not too loud. There are only two drawbacks: First, it tends to produce some powdered coffee with every grind. This is inevitable with any grinder; but when you grind in small batches it's more noticeable. (Grinding a half pound of beans at a time will minimize the difficulty, but it sort of obviates the purpose of having a home grinder.) Second, as mentioned in another review, there are four or five tablespoons' worth of beans inside the grinding mechanism when the hopper appears empty: it does make it difficult to change quickly from one group of beans to another. In all, it's much better than a blade grinder, at a very reasonable price.

Nice, functional, minimal problems
Got this burr grinder and really couldn't be happier with its looks, performance, and durability.
Pros:
1. Big hopper
2. Completely customizable -- grind settings coarse to fine and cups to make
3. The fine ground setting really does produce fine grounds...or at least as fine as needed for espresso. I know some people would like coffee dust, but not me
4. Relatively quick grinding time
5. Automatic stop...press the button and do something else, then come back

Cons: (minor ones)

1. The scoop/brush accessory that was included, broke within a week. Actually, just the scoop. Snapped right off. But I don't need a scoop, I need the brush to clean the machine. So no biggie
2. Kinda loud (but most burr grinders are so just keep that in mind)
3. Slides around a bit when handling it. Maybe heavy rubber stoppers needed?
4. Lid doesn't latch closed to the hopper. Just don't turn it over with coffee beans inside like I did. Ha

Great!!!!! get the best for less with DBM-8 Cuisinart
I was a bit leary for I have gone thru two Capresso burr grinders in the last 3 years and was contemplating spending over $100+ for a good grinder that would last or so I thought until I gave the Cuisinart a chance. It is hands down the best, its excellent grinding options are true and coffee grinds going everywhere is non existant and clean up is a breeze and it is actually quieter than my old Capresso. The sturdy constuction can rival any higher priced model. Save your money and get the best for less with the Cuisinart DBM-8

High Volume, Low Value
This grinder was given to me as a gift to accompany an espresso machine, but unfortunately I will be returning it. I've found that even on the finest grind setting, the results are much too coarse and uneven to brew proper espresso. Furthermore, this grinder is LOUD; the first time I ran it I thought the steel burrs were grinding themselves together.

Other problems: The minimum setting is for 4 cups of coffee, which is far too much for a shot (or even a double shot) of espresso. And a good deal of grounds (about 2 cups worth) ends up stuck inside the machine, so to get freshly ground coffee you really first have to grind 2 cups and empty the bin, then grind what you need. This is a waste of coffee. And if you forget to put the plastic lid on the hopper when you slide it into place, grinds will fly everywhere, and there's no way to stop the grinding or put the lid into place short of unplugging the machine from the wall!! This is a serious design flaw.

Anyhow, for making large amounts of drip coffee this grinder might decently serve the purpose, but otherwise I'd look elsewhere.

Great Machine! - changed review!!
I wanted a coffee grinder to go with my new Cuisinart coffee maker. It was between this burr grider and the normal blade grinder that Cuisinart offers. I decided to go with this grinder after my mother had rave reviews about her own grinder. This grinder looks great on my countertop. It is beautiful and makes wonderful ground coffee. I love how you can put an entire bag of beans into the holder and it just grinds the amount of beans that you want. That feature is one of the reasons I decided to buy this grinder also. My only con to it, and the reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5, is the volume of this little gadget. But don't get me wrong, I KNOW grinders will GRIND. But, I am a college student and live with a sleep-loving college roommate. And the noise that the grinder makes is a little bothersome to sleeping roommates or family members. All I can do is say "Sorry" and enjoy my wonderful, freshly ground coffee! Great machine! Great purchase!

Gorgeous and Functional
I got this set to go along with my Cuisinart Chef's Classic Stainless Cookware and they go great together. No kitchen should be without this amazing set of spoon, slotted spoon and turner, and meat fork. The handles are long and easy to grip with no slipping. I have them hanging in full view because they are as great to look at as they are to use.

The best waffle maker on the market!
I've owned three or four waffle makers and none of them compare to the quality of this gem from Cuisinart. If you're picky about waffles--and why shouldn't you be?--then spend a little extra on this model and get effortless results. Here's what makes this a GREAT wafflemaker:

1) An accurate thermostat--no surprises when you open the lid
2) A consistent heating surface--avoid hot spots or undercooked waffles
3) A variable timer--essential if you have more than one waffle color preference in the family
4) Smart design--it stores on its side, taking up a LOT less space in your cupboard
5) Easy to clean exterior--cleans up with a damp paper towel
6) Dependable non-stick finish--unlike cheap waffle makers, the nonstick finish on this model does not wear out

Keep Looking!
I bought this iron in April of 2003 and it broke yesterday (June 2004). I was in the middle of eating breakfast and the light just turned off and the iron won't work anymore. I was so mad that I got a hammer out of the closet and hit the machine a few times. DON'T BUY THIS WAFFLE MAKER! The price is nice and I did enjoy it - but I don't intend on buying a waffle maker every year. It was so disappointing and I'm very surprised that a cuisinart product would quit so soon after I bought it. I'm going to buy a higher quality machine.

After two years, still making perfect waffles
I'm not sure what the others who wrote here are doing wrong. All you have to do is follow the directions. Use a half-cup measuring cup and pour in just that amount. You do not need to spread out the batter. Just close the lid. As for sticking, even nonstick surfaces need a little mist of oil every once in awhile. I give mine an EXTREMELY light spray maybe once every third time I pull it out to use it. It makes wonderful waffles and I never have problems with sticking. And it wipes clean, when cool, with a paper towel, if necessary. I use mine at least twice a week and have had it for two years. Very true-- the outside gets hot and will burn you, so it may not be the best choice if your young kids are actually helping you make waffles. My 4-year-old son sits on the counter next to it, though, and knows not to touch it.

My only gripe about the wafflemaker is that the shape isn't conducive to freezing them and popping them into the toaster. You can pull them into little triangles, but I wish I'd picked something that makes a smaller waffle.

Highly recommended-- especially for the price. The indicator light and the five browning settings take the guesswork out for you. No more opening the lid to check the waffle.

I just can't believe why some people actualy rated this product with one star. It works very well, it doesn't stick AT ALL. Believe me, this is the good waffle maker. I will use this product forever.

Best $30 product thrown down the garbage chute, ever!
This product is by far the worst purchase in my life. I'll admit, I didn't do any research on waffle irons but how can you not trust a name as widespread as Cuisinart?

Easy...as a very competent chef, with years of experience in professional and personal capacity, I consider myself capable of making waffles. In fact, I've MacGyver'd waffles in a bind on a camping trip with tent rods! No Joke! But this product makes everything about waffle making awful. Most notably:
1. Non-stick my foot. If you've ever wanted all your waffles sliced down the middle across their plane, this is the one for you.
2. Easy cleanup my other foot. Break out your chisel and toothbrush, because you'll need them.
3. Thrown down 20 stories of garbage chute, this produces the most wonderful acoustical symphony $30 can buy. The brushed stainless surface perfectly matched and resonated with the rusty, raw clanginess of sheet metal. Musical indeed.

Do yourself a favor and just ignite $30 on your own. Don't go through the hassle of purchasing this product. ... Read more
