Putting in double ovens is the latest trend in kitchen remodeling. For kitchens that are too small to host a second oven, this freestanding appliance is a mighty fine substitute. Great product - Performs Well
Dehumidifier works great! When first plugged in, all it did was beep, until I discovered that the small knob that is in back of the collection tray had come off in shipping. Once that was popped back in, the unit works great. The basement is much better. It reduced the total level in just a couple of hours down to a much more comfortable/healthy level.

Nice Product
Very pleased with DDE40E Dehumidifier. Seems to be very efficent in keeping humidity in my 25ft x 25ft previously very damp basement at desired level.

COOL
I live in New Orleans and its as hot and muggy as anywhere here. I recently purchased this humidifier and it has changed my life dramaticaly. i no longer wake up in the morning in the swamp that i used to call my bedroom! This dehumidifer was a great purchase because it allows the air in my room to get recirculated/filtered every 10 minutes or so. In addition you can't even notice the machine its so quiet! I reccomend this to anyone.

Loud Motor...
All the features listed above are true to form for this machine. However, the big disappointment is how loud the unit is! Picture living with a hair dryer on all the time... not good. Step aside Kitchen Aid, and make room!
Theres' a new guy in town.Everything KitchenAid makes isnt all that great. The sturdy looking Kitchen Aidgarlic press I got last month I had to return after it just didn't work.(how can you screw up a simple device like a garlic press?) I received a huge ugly 7 quart KitchenAid mixerduring the holidays.I viewedall the comments on Amazon before I agreed to take it in and was sorry I did.Everyone who rated them poorly I could relate to.Mine sounded annoyingly loud, like a bad jet engine and pooped out after 2 uses and started making a "clunkity clunk" sound like something came loose inside. I puchased this DeLonghi mixeron Amazon because the mail ordercompany I got the Kitchen Aid from would have charged me 40 bucks extra for shipping. This DeLonghi is superior to the K.A.mixer.It runs smoothly and quietly (has a nice soft whirr sound not a whiney jet engine sound), the bowl which is stunning and very shiny looking just easily drops in and twists into place at its base.It is a beautiful machine and looks great in my kitchen.It is so easy to set up and use and the instructions are pretty much only 2 pages.It will take you all of 2 minutes to understand how to operate this machine. I am extremely happy about this purchase after the fiasco with the Kitchen Aid mixer.

This mixer is the best on the market without question.We got ours based on reviews of other mixers.While praise for the kitchenaid and others was written, issues with the motors burning up or gears stripping out were prevalent within the reviews seen on the web.

This mixer has the power for the serious cook or the hobbyist.It does not bog down in heavy dough and has an overload device that will prevent you from damaging the motor or gears.This will be the brand you will buy from now on.Once you try the Delonghi, you will be a fan for life.

The unit has several attachments that, unlike most multi task kitchen tools, are very useful.The blender, in conjunction with the 980-watt motor, makes for the best blender I have owned.The food processor is equally powerful and easy to use.As that funny guy says on the Food Network, "It's a good multitasker".

Oh yea, that fellow on the Food Network painted flames on his Kitchenaid mixer.If his mixer and the Delonghi were in a race, his would be upside down in the ditch.You will not go wrong with the Delonghi DSM7 mixer.

Delonghi mixer rates very high
I have a cake decorating business out of my home and have used KitchenAid mixers for 15 of my 25 years in business.When I changed to DeLonghi about 5 years ago I decided I will never go back to KitchenAid.The motor is much more powerful and reliable.The splash guard attaches to the tilting top, so that you do not have to remove the beater to remove the splash guard and take the bowl out of the mixer as you do with the KitchenAid.There is more room to add ingredients because of the tilting top also.The bowl is much easier to put in and out.The speed control is more conveniently located and smoother in its operation.It is easy to clean and sleeker looking on the counter top.With the 7-quart bowl I am able to mix 4 cake mixes at one time which is really helpful.

The only negative I can offer is that the beater is not dishwasher friendly.But the KitchenAid beater was not either.
Viking has a stainless steel beater and that seems better, but I cannot speak to its ease of use and I have not tried that brand.

OH, MY GOD!!Talk about power!!I was going back and forth between "the known" Kitchenaid or Delonghi.I was going to get a Viking, but read too many bad reviews.
I decided on the Delonghi, firstly, because of the name.I have several Delonghi products and am very happy with them.Delonghi acquired Kenwood, so I decided to read some of the reviews for the Kenwood Stand Mixer and they were mostly favorable (nothing is perfect).Secondly, at 980 watts, it is much higher than the 500+ you get with the top of the line Kitchenaid. Thirdly, I read too many reviews that, while praised Kitchenaid, talked about the motor burning out when making dough.HELLO!! the motor is extremely important!!
Let me tell you, this mixer has power!!I made 17 pies, a cake, and 24 tarts for Christmas and making my own dough was a breeze!!
Kitchenaid may be the best for some people, but Delonghi is for me!!

a great addition to your oven range
Enjoying natural foods I v'e found this DeLonghi toaster convection oven to be a fine performer. I often prepare fresh-breaded zucchini strips and hand-breaded eggplant slices in this oven; they bake to a crisp exterior and moist interior preserving all the flavor and aroma. Fresh small game such as squirrel, rabbit and small fowl braise well in this oven and come out absolutely tender and delicious. Also the cookie sheets bake mushrooms, plain and stuffed, to an exquisite crispiness.

We use it almost every day; we bake cookies, pot pies, oven fries, and make grilled cheese sandwiches without the extra fat from a frying pan.

The convection feature is why we bought the oven, and it makes oven baking go twice as fast for most things. We have had NO problems whatsoever with reliability: elements breaking, doors not fitting, etc.

Some appear to have had confusion over the controls. If you read the owner's manual, they are easy to understand. I have not used the cookie feature, but have found that convection cooking is not ideal for cookie batter. have to keep a close eye on the cookies. easier just to use regular oven and normal times. The fact that the oven comes with special cookie sheets is a plus: very convenient.

Oven surfaces are a breeze to clean up.

amazing convection toaster oven
we saw this advertised at Amazon and my aunt decided to purchase it. First we did a pizza (15"), it baked with a finely crisp crust and moist pepperoni and sausage. Nothing was burned. Next day we made 5 dozens of sugar cookies on the supplied sheets. The cookies were sublime, chewy and soft. Later, using the convection setting, we prepared stuffed pork chops, again moist interior and nicely browned exterior. Toasted cheese sandwiches are a breeze with this unit. We now make our own 6" diameter fruit pies (blueberry, rhubarb, apricot)in this oven and each time they come out with perfect crust and delectable filling. Chinese noodles also toast well in this DeLonghi product. Note that we make our toast in a conventional toaster.

Disappointed in DeLonghi
Okay, so I bought an older model off of Amazon about three years ago now. About a year ago the door stopped shutting all the way, one of the elements is totally bent for some reason and recently the knob just broke off. Now it's set on bake forever. I used this oven a lot but I'm very disappointed that it only lasted a few years. I'm leary about spending a lot of money again and buying the newer model- although I'm glad it's digital- no knobs to break off but what about the door problem? From close inspection in the store it looks exactly the same as the older model they've had problems with. I think I'll look for a less expensive convection/toaster oven that way I won't feel the same pain when it only lasts a few years. What am I suppose to do with this old oven, throw it in the landfill?

One year later
For most purposes this little box has replace our large oven. As advertized it does cook faster and you need to lower the temp. about 25 degrees. Pies, turkeys, chickens, and Souffles I still do in the large oven but cookies, tarts, cornbread (8"x8"), casseroles, fish, burgers, and NY Strip all do very well in this Delonghi. Great for preparing hors d'oeuvres, esp. when you have guests and need a second oven.

Every home needs a panini grill
But not necessarily this one. I bought this grill from Amazon in March. I use it alot, and even considered giving it 5 stars, but I have a couple of issues with it.

Compared to the other panini grills I have seen (Villaware, Krups, Wolfgang Puck), the DeLonghi has fewer, more widely spaced ribs. This design makes it easy to clean with a cloth, and no cleaning "comb" is provided. However, a drawback to the wide spacing is it can allow your panini to squish down into the valleys where all the oily stuff goes. You would be surprised how much oily goo a peperoni and mozzerella panini can make, especially if you brush the outside with olive oil, butter, or mayo before grilling like I do.

A minor annoyance: when it is stored upright on its back, it teeter totters on the lid's power cord. IMO, a high end appliance shouldn't have such a glaring design flaw.

Even though I like the DeLonghi alot, if I were buying another one, I would try the Villaware.

I have used it for both panini sanwiches and grilling meat and have had great results.

No on/off switch though, kind of a hassle, but compared to old wolfie's grill, this is top of the line.

clean-up is easy, temp control is a plus and very fast cooking time. 1" chops in 8 min WOW!!!

Worth every penny
I have hoped by now that I would see a review on the DeLonghi Retro Panini Grill CGH800 and have been looking since October 2003. I have read other reviews on competitor's models, but to date no one has written in on this wonderful unit so I feel I should.

I had a bad experience with another Panini Grill, also comparable in price but with handle breakage problems. In the reviews for the one I had purchased prior there was another with the same problem. I was hesitant about getting another, but I loved the concept and was willing to try another brand with high quality standards. In November I purchased this product.

The unit is very heavy and well made, and the handle is strong. I have made many Panini sandwiches and everyone is excellent. The grilling of the sandwich takes about 4-5 minutes and produces wonderful grill marks and the contents inside are very hot. I have used homemade bread, French bread, rye bread, pitas (which I feel are too thin) hoagie rolls and even store bought rolls all proving wonderful.

The combinations of sandwich fillings for Panini's are endless. I serve a large Panini with a bowl of soup for an easy weeknight dinner and a change of pace from the many recipes I make on other nights. We really look forward to each and every one and I am not disappointed in this product.

I want to comment on the non-stick - it is absolutely wonderful! Cheese or anything that may ooze out just comes up with a piece of toweling, nothing ever sticks. I have not grilled meats on it as I have three sizes of another well-known grill, but have grilled zucchini along side the sandwich. With the excellent coating I would not hesitate to cook meats and I like the fact that it has a trough for the grease to drip into the cup that is provided.

I also have not used anything but the highest temperature on the control as I only use this grill for Panini sandwiches, but I am sure that it would be perfect with something that needed a lower temperature. Also an additional plus, --it certainly would be ideal if my husband was not finished with something I served first and the thought that I could keep sandwiches warm and not burn the bread by turning the temperature to a low (keep warm) setting for sure is a wonderful addition to this product.

Cadillac of fryers!
I recently purchased this fryer from.... I am very pleased with the fryer. This is the Cadillac of deep fryers!

Pros: Cool touch sides. Digital timer. Rotating fry basket. Uses about ½ of the oil of other deep fryers with same results, giving it considerable advantage: save money on oil. Quiet operation. Easy cleanup: simply slide out the oil container tray, slip in the container with filter and drain the oil from the drain spout. Inside the fry basin is Teflon so it simply wipes clean. Window on the top lid allows you to see your food as it cooks. Odor filter in the lid reduces cooking odors.

Cons: Fry basket did not engage the fryer and would not rotate. However this was simple to fix, just bend the bottom of the basket slightly and the problem is fixed.

To summarize, I have done a lot of research on deep fryers on the market and I found that this fryer was the best pick. The instructions that come with the unit are easy to read and understand, they explain the operation of the unit thoroughly. There is also a temperature and cooking time chart that is helpful. I found that the food cooked a bit faster than the chart stated. If you are looking to buy a new fryer, I would recommend this fryer!

This One Can't Be Beat
For home use, this fryer simply cannot be beat. We're on our second, after my mother-in-law convinced us to give her our old one. The first roto-fryer we picked up, some 10 years ago, is still in operation at the in-laws house. Of course we're even more pleased with the newer fryer as they added teflon to the interior for easy cleanup and a drain tube, which makes cleanup a cinch.

This will cook about the healthiest deep fry around. We have had several deep fryers over the years, and none are as crisp and grease free as the roto fryers. It is no gimmick; it really works.

Some here have complained it is too small. It doesn't take that long to cook items in there, so if huge portions are your thing it won't take that much longer. It is average size and will easily cook servings for 4...or should I say recommended serving sizes. Some have complained about liquid batters getting stuck in the basket. As a fast food worker in my teens, this will be true of any backet I've ever seen. Easiest way around this is to pick up a piece of stainless steel screen from your local hardware store to place in the basket, and any basket will cook all the tempura you can throw at it. Or you can pull the basket, although the whole purpose of this fryer is to move items in and out of the oil and it doesn't really contain that much oil.

So if plugging up your heart and huge portions are your thing, I'd look elsewhere. If you want a healthier choice in deep frying, easy cleanup, save on your oil use, etc., give this one a try. You will not be disappointed in the final product.

Poor Performance for batter fried foods
I thought the idea of the food not staying in the oil for the entire cooking time was a good idea; and maybe it is. However, our deep frying is mainly batter fried foods like coconut shrimp, fried oysters, etc. With this unit the batter will flow through the wire basket and stick to the basket. This makes it impossible to remove the food without practically destroying the food in the process. It seems to me a nonstick basket would be an excellent idea; I guess the DeLonghi engineers never thought of that. It may work just fine for french fries or breaded food; I don't know. If batter fried foods are your preference, stay away from this unit.

High Maintenance Costs
Although DeLonghi makes a good deep fryer, please consider the cost of replacement filters before you buy. DeLonghi replacement filters do not last very long and they are not easy to find. If you buy them directly from DeLonghi America, one pack of replacement filters can cost as much as $32.00 plus $4.50 for shipping! (Amazon does sell one type of replacement filter for $17.99, but your DeLonghi deep fryer might not use them.) One pack of replacement filters usual includes 3 sets of filters. The 6-piece set includes 3 carbon filters and 3 oil vapor filters. If you use your DeLonghi deep fryer often, the cost of replacement filters could easily exceed the cost of the DeLonghi deep fryer in one year! It could be less expensive to simply buy a brand new DeLonghi deep fryer each time you run out of filters. Just food for thought!

Wonderful appliance -- No complaints
I think this fryer is terrific. It uses less oil than others, heats up quickly, lets you reuse the oil, and is pretty easy to clean (even for us lazy folks). My favorite things to fry up are vegan fried chicken (wheat meat) and vegan chicken-fried steak, as well as falafel, tofu, sweet potatoes, and mushrooms. It's not hard at all to get everything cooked to perfection: if you don't like the way it looks when you raise the lid, just close it again and drop the basket back down. The digital timer is very convenient.

One recommendation for reusing oil after frying something battered: when draining the oil into the container, definitely use the yellow filter basket. Monitor the oil by keeping your fingers on the red rubber outlet hose. If the filter basket fills up too high, the oil will flow through the overflow holes into the container and miss the filtering. Just squeeze the tube closed until the oil drains through the filter, and let more out when the filter has emptied. This way the oil will be clear and free of batter, and will work much better the next time you use it. Also, if there is a great deal of "sludge" left at the bottom of the fryer after the oil has been drained, you can scoop it out with a paper towel before rinsing the non-stick basin with soapy water. ... Great alternative to outdoor grill
This grill was everything I hoped for. It heats up quickly and cooks as fast as any outdoor grill (i don't know why the other guy had a problem with his pork chops - I can do a medium size steak in under 10 minutes using the cover). Salmon steaks, hot dogs, burgers and everything else also come out great. I was also pleasantly surprised that it didnt generate much smoke at all. I think it's an excellent product for someone who can't have an outdoor grill. The only thing is I don't pay for my electric and it might use a lot of electricity due to its high voltage.

Sorry Delonghi.....Not A Good Product!!
I did my homework and I thought I was buying a great table top indoor grill to cook chicken and steaks to replace a different brand that had just died on me. Well, I was very disappointed when I used it the first time and "tried" to grill pork chops. It took forever (much longer than the manual stated) and I had the temp setting at the highest. They finally did get done but were not very tasty and dried out because I had to cook them so long. My opinion is that because the grill is open on the bottom to the drip pan and the eating element is underneath....much of the heat goes down and not up to the food on top.
It was, however, easy to clean which was good because I packed it up and shipped it back the next day.
Sorry Delonghi, back to the drawing board.

Worst excuse for a grill anywhere
I have used a number of Foreman and Hamilton Beach contact grills. I bought this because I thought with the heat control I could sear then cook.

WRONG>

This is the absolute worst grill on the market. It simply does not get nearly hot enough to sear or even cook on the highest setting...say 20 minutes for a rib eye. Ludicrous.

Look elsewhere...I am throwing this monstrosity away!

Do Not Buy This Grill
Do not buy this grill. I tried to give it zero or negative stars, but the system would not allow that. The grill does not perform as described. It does not get hot enought to sear or brown the meat. I grilled a couple of pork steaks on the grill for over 30 minutes and they never got browned. Instead, there were light brown streaks where they contacted the grill and the rest of the meat just turned an unappetizing dirty gray color. Also, despite the length of time the steaks were on the grill, parts that were not in contact with the grill were not completely done. The manufacturer will undoubtedly say that a person should put the cover on the grill, but then the meat is being steamed rather than grilled and will not brown. And, I am not at all sure I will be able to return it, because I have used it and it was not shipped by Amazon, but by one of the marketplace merchants.

buying another for family
I have to say I have an older model of this grill without the glass cover, somthing I wish I had. In either case, the grill has served its purpose in my home. When winter comes we cook just about everything we would cook on the gas grill on this. Best part is, unlike cooking steaks in the oven, the grill doesn't smoke the steaks and set off the fire alarms!

I also put everything in the dishwasher so clean up is a cake walk.
