Loudest vacuum on earth!
I just bought this to replace an old Sharp vacuum that I couldn't find bags for. The first time I used it, it worked great. It pulled dirt out of my carpet that I didn't even know was there. However, being in a second floor apartment, the first thing I noticed was how ridiculously loud this vacuum is! It sounds like a commercial jet on takeoff! The price is right, the suction is great, but I'm going to have to make sure my neighbors aren't home before I can start cleaning!

Fabulous Look & Super Powerful Suction
If you are looking for a fantastic vacuum for under $100 (hard to come by, if you have used a Miele or Electrolex) this Dirt Devil Turbo Vision is your find.

I love that it is an upright (easy to push), has a clear dust tank to easily empty (no bags), a hepa filter (best solution for those who have alergies) and has super strong suction (great for heavy cleaning or animal fur).

Every time I use the machine to vacuum my large apartment, it cleans up so much from the carpet that it nearly fills the clear canister to the top (I am a neat freak to begin with, so I am always astonished at how much dirt and dust the carpet collects in a 3-4 day period.). You must clean the filter weekly to make sure suction maintains strong. I have found that that is the key to the losing suction dilemna most complain about with any vacuum.

I have had this vacuum since June of 2004 and I love it. Treat it right, maintain/clean it, and it will love you back for a fantastic bargain price! Not bulkly or ugly like several vacuums either...sleek and classic looking!

Great apartment vacuum
A very good vacuum cleaner for the price. It works well on both my hardwood floors and area rugs in my apartment. The attachments fit onto a hose which diverts the suction from main vacuum part. You must secure the hose into its fitting on the side otherwise you will not get suction from the bottom. If the hose comes out, then you will run the vacuum without any suction which is very annoying. The suction from the hose is pretty good and I do use it and the attachments along the baseboard. Clean up can get a little messy since I often shake out the dust off the filter, too. The upright design easily wheels into a closet. Overall a great buy.

Another whole dog's worth of fur!
We have a long haired dog that sheds clumps of fur and two cats, not to mention a toddler. I vacuum every day and my vacuums tend to die pretty quickly. That's why I just bought a Dirt Devil again, which is what I have been using, since it was fairly inexpensive and lasted about two years. The Dirt Devil Vision appealed to me because it was bagless, and because of the hand held power tool. The hand held power tool has quickly and effectivly gotten the fur off of my upholstered furniture, while the floor unit seemed to get all the fur and cheerios off of the carpet. I did have to empty the dust bin several times while vacuuming the whole house, but don't mind as long as it doesn't clog. I expect it to last at least as long as the first, but hopefully longer. It is very easy to push (has swivel castors in the back), the power hand tool is powerful, and the filter cleans easily. Overall, I think a good product for a reasonable price, considering what is on the market.

the worst vacuum ever!!
This vacuum is the worst ever. I am sorry I ever bought it. To use the hand tools it has a hose that you pull out so the suction goes to the tool instead of the bottom of the vacuum. The hose falls out on its own all the time, you end up vacuuming with no suction because it is going through the hose. It is terrible at picking up dirt. Not really very good....
We used it lightly. Just general clean-up. That's what it was made for. Had it 4 months and it gave up the ghost. Made a horrible death rattle before it's final demise. Now it's just junk fit for the landfill.

Manufacturer claims a 3 year warranty, but just try to collect. You'll be wasting your time. Dealing with "Customer Service" is an exercise in futility.

Very Good Cordless Vaccum
Quite a nice vac, but only good for small jobs. It doesn't have a big nozzle to pick up big things and the crevice tool helps for small things. Has a lot of power and sucks up everything well. Great with NO CORD!

It has SEVEN AMPS! YESSS!
4 stars for fear it won't hold up (see other reviews). We'll see how long it lasts, but so far I LOVE IT! Other than one mishap involving inadvertent opening of the cover, causing the full filter to spill everywhere, I used it all day yesterday with no problems. I love the siren-like turbine motor (you want quiet? use a broom), the way the thing kicks like a chainsaw when you start it, and the lovely flip-down crevice tool. I know you're not supposed to vacuum insects with it, but who can resist if they happen to wander into your path? *FOOMP*

Lasted 4 months
Nice while it worked but after using it a dozen times, the turbin started chafing against the housing and it stopped working: after opening, we concluded it was a very poor design.

works decently, but poor construction
this vacuum worked decently (picked up cat litter and dust but wasn't so good with hairs) for about 4 months before the flip-down crevice nozzle broke off. and after owning the thing for 8 months and using it a couple times a month, the latch that holds the nose to the handle (which you open to empty the debris) broke off, so the vacuum is completely broken. i called customer service and determined that it would be cheaper and less of a hassle to buy a new hand vac than to ship it to them for repair/replacement. ... This vacuum SUCKS, but in a good way!
I got this vacuum a few days ago, and couldn't be happier with it. It picks up cat hair wonderfully, and I have 5 indoor cats, so I know about these things. The onboard tools are handy, and I love the handle on the hose. I am able to vacuum about 1000 square feet before I need to empty the dirt cup, but remember those 5 cats....you probably won't have to empty that frequently. Our other vacuum is a Rainbow, which is better, but at $1500 it'd better be. This Dirt Devil is so much more convenient, I've been using it nearly every day and only take out the Rainbow for weekly vacuuming. You won't be disappointed with this one, especially at this price!

Nice vacuum, picks up a ton of dirt!
Although it picks up a ton of dirt and rolls smoothly it does have a couple of draw backs. It feels like it's not as sturdy as vacuums I've had in the past. It is also very loud which requires you to wear ear plugs to protect your hearing. It can also get kind of dirty when emptying the dirt container. But overall I still like the sleek look and the fact that it picks up an extreme amount of dirt. I don't mind getting my hands dirty every once in awhile to save money on vacuum bags. I would recommend this vacuum only at a discounted price.

Clean up quick, mostly.
Overall, I love this vacuum. It works well and gets great suction. I have even used it with carpet cleaners (spray-on foams) and gotten better-than-hoped-for results.

As to filtration, it does great. I think that the air coming out the discharge is fresher than the air in the room.

So why not five stars?

-Balance: This vacuum has a hose attachment with all kinds of extras that is supposed to be able to reach up to 16 feet. It has a little hook on the hose that you attach to the vacuum base while using the hose. The problem I have found is that if I step away from the base to strech the hose, the tension on the hose causes the vacuum to fall over. In order to use the hose, I have to keep one hand on the base. So much for reaching 16 feet!

-Durability: Granted, vacuums were not intended for use on paperclips and pennies. However, this is one place where a bag-style vacuum has the advantage. My (former, non-wife) roommate vacuumed one day when I wasn't home. He sucked up a penny, which whipped around in the plastic container and broke a hole in it. You couldn't use the vacuum because it just spewed dust into the air. Replacing it was pricy (I think it was around fifty, but my roommate paid for it).

*****Final Thoughts*****
This vacuum works well, and I would buy it again if I needed a new one!

Don't expect to use the hose much.

If you have kids, plan on getting a bag vacuum, because there's too much chance of picking up something that will break your vacuum canister.

Poor design poor Customer Service
While this vacuum may have adequate suction it, like most Dirt Devil uprights, is very poorly designed. The biggest issue is the design of the handheld hose; it comes out the top of the unit so the vacuum constantly falls over when you try to use it mine finally broke. Checkout the owners manual, they have some kludgey way to loop the hose down and hook it to the base, as if that is practical. The lock that holds the vacuum upright wore out twice in four years, the beater brush wore out, the attachments are cheaply made. It does not work on bare floors and cannot even pick up a small piece of gravel due to the design of the brush/pickup. I contacted Dirt Devil about my problems and they said "we don't deal with problems, your only recourse is where you bought it". You may want to check out Bissel (they are inexpensive and they can't be worse).

This vaccum stinks...literally.
I've had this vaccum for about a year and a half and I've never really been satisfied with it, but I'm not one to return stuff as long as it works "okay" and does what I need it to. But after the stupid vaccum blew out today, I wish I had returned it since the beginning! One of the reasons I wasn't happy with it before was because it was super heavy. Plus, as others have already mentioned, you make a mess just trying to empty the canister, which sort of defeats the purpose of vaccuming in the first place. The locking handle unlocks as soon as you try to move it from one place to another. And now, to top it all off, the motor burned up while I was using it and filled my house with really smelly smoke. I have 3 small children including a 7 month old baby, and now I have no vaccum to clean the floor that they crawl and play on and a house full of polluted air for them to breathe in! Quite the powerful vacuum
My first concern in buying this vacuum was the light weight. I figured that anything that light could not be that powerful. Was I ever wrong there! When using this vacuum, be wary of vacuuming bathroom rugs, because this will suck the rug up easily.

As with most bagless vacuums, emptying out the canister can be messy. It is easy to do, but in dumping the dirt, there will be a small cloud of dust, which will make another mess you need to clean. I recommend emptying it outside. Also, emptying it outside also makes it easier to clean the filter. This will take more than a couple of shakes, or some very dirty fingers.

There is an knob for switching between hose and vacuum, and there is a lever to adjust for the vacuumed area, such as from smooth floors to high-pile carpet.

The hose and attachments are fine. They are a little stiff, which makes it difficult when cleaning shelves, but it really isn't a problem. There is one thin attachment for getting behind furniture and getting corners. Also, there is a stiff brush for dusting. I didn't care much for the brush because the bristles are very stiff and short. It didn't clean the dusty places as well as some older vacuums.

Nonetheless, this is a great vacuum at a great place. I feel that it did a much better job at cleaning than my last vacuum and that it doesn't take as much effort to lug it around the house or up stairs.

Great Bagless Vacuum!
I recently received this vacuum as a wedding gift. I have never owned a bagless vacuum before but this one is great! It's actually replacing another Dirt Devil that I've owned for years (it still worked great). I have a dog and a long-haired cat, I was amazed at all the hair this was able to get out of my carpet. The attachment also works wonders on my furniture. Here's a trick for cleaning the filter-put it inside a plastic bag and tap it against something...this keeps the dust from getting everywhere. Great product...highly recommeded!

good buy
My first bagless vac. I haven't had trouble with anything on this and I've had it for over a year! The only down side is empting the container. It gets very dusty which makes for another mess. I agree that empting outside is the best bet. I also have to vacuum the filter to get all of the dirt out. Overall, for the price of this product, it was worth it.

Won't Buy Another Dirt Devel
I wrote a review on this vacuum. I made two mistakes. First mistake is I wrote a review on this model, when in fact it was a Dirt Devel Vision Turbo I purchased. The second mistake was Buying the other model Dirt Devel. Take my comments and apply them to the other model.

Broke in 4 Months
Don't be fooled as I was with this vacuum. Oh, it worked great for almost four months, then the beater bar broke. Called Target, NO Help. It was past their 90 return policy. No problem, vacuum warranted for 3 years by Dirt Devil, NOT. Only some parts are under warranty according to Dirt Devil. They didn't say what parts where warranted. I called the Target Store in Bridgeport WV, talked to Chris. He was very unconcerned about my problem and offered no solution. Dirt devel also seemed to think they were not responsible for my problem and were very unconcerned as well. Looking for a reliable vacuum ? Shop where you have been treated well before when problems arrive. If you are having problems like I did check with your state consumer's board.
