    Amazon.com Review

Designed by engineering guru James Dyson, inventor of the cyclonic vacuum, the 12-amp Dyson DC07 upright is an inspired combination of power and structural smarts. At the center of the machine's innovation is the Cyclone air path design, an eight-section chamber that creates powerful, consistent suction. The conical chambers generate 100,000 g of centrifugal force, pushing dust and dirt out of the airflow into the vacuum's 1-gallon collection cup. With no bag to clog, the vacuum's 270 air watts of suction remain steady. The large, transparent collection cup is easy to check and empties tidily--pop it off, hold it over a trash bin, and pull the trigger to release dirt without having to touch it. The DC07 also comes equipped with a multipart filtration system to improve overall air quality in the home. The HEPA filter, measuring 412 square inches in surface area, traps microscopic particulates and allergens. Expertly built, the filter is designed to last the lifetime of the machine.

Suitable for bare floors and carpets, the Dyson upright features a 14-inch cleaning path and edge-cleaning bristles. A simple foot pedal switches off the brush roll for bare floors, and the nozzle automatically adjusts for changes in carpet height. The vacuum is equipped for above-floor cleaning with a cleverly stowed, quick-release 17-foot hose with a reversible, extension-wand handle. Onboard accessories include a crevice tool, a dusting brush, and an upholstery attachment, all designed to function without "sticking" to surfaces. Made from the same material used in crash helmets, the vacuum is unquestionably durable. Plus, the design only puts 4 pounds of weight on the handle, so pushing and turning is easy. This model comes with a 35-foot power cord.--Emily Bedard

5-0 out of 5 stars Best vacuum I have ever owned
My reconditioned vacuum came in excellent condition. I have 2 Border Collies, a black Lab and 3 cats - as well as a husband who doesn't wipe his feet very well before he comes in the house - so I have alot of dust and pet hair.
The Dyson arrived quickly - was easy to assemble - all the parts fit well - and cleaned the whole house "barefoot" clean. It rolls very easily, transitions well between carpet and hardwood (you do have to manually turn off the beater, but I don't think that is a problem). My other vacuums (a Hoover and an Oreck) would blow around the pet hair instead of picking it up but the suction on the Dyson was strong enough not to have that problem.

    5-0 out of 5 stars WOW !!!!!
I was very apprehensive of buying a reconditioned vacuum. I figured it would arrive all scratched up and nasty. Well, mine looks brand new. Not a scratch to be found. Cannister was squeeky clean, filter had zero dirt.

I would be thrilled with this vacuum even if it were scratched and dinged. We vacuumed the livingroom floor as soon as it arrived and could not believe how much stuff it pulled out of the rug. We have 14 month old twins crawling around so my wife vacuums everyday with the old oreck. I have never been happy with the oreck and I could justify my displeasure after the first time we vacuumed with this Dyson.

$250 may seem like a lot of money for a reconditioned vacuum. All I can say is: if you buy it, you wont regret it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Refurbished Dyson rocks!
Great vacuum. It worked as new even though I got the refurbished version.

The other Central Florida person that got the refurb, returned it, got new gives up too easily. I got mine for $225. Even at $250+ it is a great deal! It is amazing all the dust you pickup with this thing.

    No complaints whatsoever.

5-0 out of 5 stars the best vacuum I ever had
like most of the other people that reviewed dyson - I found it to be by far the best vacuum I have ever had - much better than any hoover etc.
It is quite powerfull and I was impressed first time I used it with how much dirt it collected from what I thought was a very clean carpet.
I would definitely recomand it to anyone. I don't think I will ever buy any other brand again.

2-0 out of 5 stars Very disappointed with refurbished DYSON
After weeks and weeks of research and consideration of the refurbished Dyson, I ordered it. All previous messages stated it was like new. Well, upon receiving the Dyson, overall the appearance of the vac was in like new condition with only one issue; the hose had a smash in it. No biggie right? Since the hose is just made of wire, all I had to do was pinch the wire into place and the hose was fine. Then I started it up. The seals were not sealing and I was getting an awefule whistling sound. I went to my local retailer to see if theirs did the same and nope, it didn't. I also noticed that the suction of my refurbished Dyson was also a little less than the new one. Long story short, if you didn't get in on the $225 deal, I wouldn't recommend it. These vacs are high tech. and a lot can go wrong with them. I figured Dyson would take pride in their refurbished vac, but I was not impressed what-so-ever. Needless to say, I returned my vac and purchased a new one.

I totally recommend Dyson's new vacs. It picked up so much dirt from my house I was really impressed. And I must mention that my wife vacuumes every two weeks. Once the Dyson came to our house, it picked up three canisters of dirt and dust the first day. The house is 2800 sq. ft. VERY impressive vacuum.

With a newborn on the way, I have a huge confidence that the house is in clean shape for the todler to crawl around on.

Early Adopters Pick: October 2002. The world’s only true cyclonic vacuum, generating 100,000 g of centrifugal force and pulling dirt into an indestructible canister made from the same material used for crash helmets.

Named for both its power and its ruthless approach to pet hair problems, the Dyson DC07 Animal upright is a piece of engineering wizardry designed by James Dyson, the inventor of cyclonic vacuums. A hit in Europe for years, Dyson vacuums are new to the American market. At the center of the machine's innovation is the Cyclone air path design, an eight-section chamber that creates powerful, consistent suction. The conical chambers generate 100,000 g of centrifugal force, pushing dust and dirt out of the airflow into the vacuum's 1-gallon collection cup. Suitable for bare floors and carpets, the Dyson upright features a 14-inch cleaning path and edge-cleaning bristles. A foot pedal switches off the brush roll for bare floors, and the nozzle automatically adjusts for various carpet heights. Onboard accessories include a crevice tool, a dusting brush, an upholstery attachment, and the Animal turbo tool. Designed for lint and stubborn pet hair, the turbo tool features an air-powered brush bar to extract hair from furniture, stairs, pet beds, cars, and other tight spaces.

Made from the same material used in crash helmets, the vacuum is unquestionably durable. Plus, the design only puts 4 pounds of weight on the handle, so pushing and turning is easy. This model comes with a 35-foot power cord and a limited two-year household warranty. It also includes a carpet care kit--a canister of Groom Zorb odor-absorbent carpet cleaning powder and a bottle of Dyzolv spray for spills and stains. --Emily Bedard ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars An outstanding Vacuum Cleaner!
Let me begin by saying that I have three dogs and two cats. Pet hair is the biggest cleaning challenge in our house.

After convincing my wife to discontinue our professional cleaning service, due to increasing costs, I volunteered to take the cleaning duties related to the floors and the furniture. My wife foolishly took on the kitchen, bathrooms, and dusting. What my wife didn't know was that I had been reading up on the Dyson "Animal".

The "Animal" arrived just two days after our last professional cleaning. I immediately vacuumed the entire house and was absolutely amazed at how much pet hair and dirt I pulled out of the carpets and off our hardwood floors. Our house has never been so absent of pet hair. Even my pets were beside themselves. My wife was thoroughly impressed. She said that the house looked and smelled cleaner than ever!

The "Animal" is a total cleaning machine. It easily attacked hardwood floors, carpets, curtains, furniture, and stairs. It's the best cleaning machine I have ever used. Adding a sixth animal to our family was the best thing I ever did!

If you have pets and need a high powered cleaning machine, get the "Animal"! It's worth the money! I donated my old cleaning machines to our YMCA.

5-0 out of 5 stars The purple monster lives up to it's name! "The Animal"
I first heard about Dyson from a airline magazine during a recent business trip. The article was very interesting. A few days later, my wife indicated that we needed a new vacuum and I started telling her about the Dyson.

At first, the price seems high, relative to other cleaners. We also have two yellow labs that shed through out the year. It was down to the dogs or me. Dog hair on the rugs, hair on the furniture, hair everywhere. The cleaner arrived in 13 days after it was ordered. It took about ten minutes to put the Animal together. My daughter and I followed the directions.

We first tried the vacuum in the upright position in our living room, which had been vacuumed about four days earlier. The machine picked up so much dog hair and dust that it filled up the canister about half way. We both were very surprised. We then tried the hair attachment on the furniture. It took some effort but the dog hair was removed. Our next challenge was the steps going up stairs. The wand attachment worked as advertised. We got to the top, while the Animal stayed at the landing. The design of the hose attachment is very clever. We have not tried the ZORB cleaner or the spot remover at this point. These items come with Purple Animal.

The furniture attachment and the hard surface attachment are loose items and do not attach directly to the animal when not in use. The 3 smaller attachments attach directly to the Animal.

This device is very well designed. The construction is very good. The appearance is a bit different but you get use to it quickly. The animal is easy to use, and very easy to clean. There are no bags and no mess to deal with.

Overall, this is a very good machine and the best vacuum that we have ever owned. Yes, it was worth the cost. And yes, the dogs can stay.

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally, a vacuum that can handle MY life!
With four kids, a yellow lab, and a backyard that was recently torn up, the dirt in my house was driving me crazy! I had always bought Hoover Wind Tunnels. When our last one started gasping for life after about a year and a half, I thought that maybe I should consider a commercial vacuum. I started researching vacuums and kept coming up with Dyson.

Five hundred bucks for a vacuum might seem a bit ridiculous, but I've spend over three hundred on various Hoovers that have lasted only two years or so (I have to vacuum daily!), I figured if I get four years out of this, I'll come out ahead.

Basically, I can't tell you anything that you haven't read already concerning this vacuum, only that the reviewers who said it didn't have suction should try plugging it in next time!

It's easy to handle, sucks dirt other vacuums happily leave behind, is truly gratitifying to dump (you'll see), and works as well on hardwood floors as it does on area rugs. The cord and hose are far reaching and it is very stable when using the attachments or doing the stairs. The only negative thing that I can say about this vacuum is that taking the attachment piece out of the hose is kind of a pain. I used to use the attachments as I needed them. Now I use them last so I don't need to keep putting the wand back into the hose over and over.

One review mentioned that the Dyson eats the fringe off of area rugs. This is not a problem if you switch to the hard floors settings before trying to vacuum the fringe. One thing I didn't like about my old Hoover is that the beater brush didn't stop when you used the attachments. I put a hole in my floor when I caused my Hoover to tilt while using the attachments because the friction beater brush wore a hole through the floor. The Dyson's brush stops, so there's no danger of this.

I also like the fact I'm not going to be nickeled and dimed on bags and filters. As an allergy sufferer, I'm glad that the filter is easy to wash and reuse as often as needed. When I see what the Dyson picks up on a daily basis, I can't help but think that I've staved off at least one allergy attack in our household every time I use it.

If you're in the market for a vacuum, earmark some of your tax refund, or just decide to spurge, and get the Dyson. I did, and I don't have any regrets, just really clean floors.

5-0 out of 5 stars It just sucks in the BEST WAY!!!
I purchased my Dyson last Saturday, and I have yet to put the thing away. It's just the best. Easy to put together, easy to use, and it has suction like there is no tomorrow. My condo has hardwood floors, area rugs, and two cats. The floors and rugs have never been so clean. The first time I used it, I got enough cat hair out of the rugs for a new cat! I've also noticed that there has been much less sniffling and sneazing from my husband, who is allergic to dust mites. This baby is worth every penny, and I'm extremely pleased with my purchase.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Vacuum out there!
I bought this vacuum today after a friend told me about it. We have a dog that sheds like crazy and my son is 7 months old and crawling. Needless to say, I needed something that would get rid of the hair! We have hardwood floors throughout our entire house and this vacuum picked up everything! It was so much easier than sweeping the floors with a broom and so much more was picked up! I would recommend this vacuum to anybody that has pets of any sort that shed. It's well worth the money! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This vacuum is amazing!
After several disappointing experiences with Hoover, I logged onto Amazon.com to check out what everyone else was saying about vacuum cleaners. Again and again, Dyson looked like my best choice, but I had a hard time rationalizing spending $400 on a vacuum.

I bit the bullet and bought the Dyson, and I'm so glad I spent the money! I vacuumed our living room and baby's room, and I was shocked and disgusted at the amount of crud, pet hair and dirt hiding in our carpet! I thought I kept a somewhat clean house!

Getting the hose attachment ready for use takes a little practice, but it works wonders! I won't go into what the Dyson sucked up along my baseboards, but they've never looked so good.

Please...buy this vacuum! You won't regret it, and you can say goodbye to "add-ons;" no bags or filters to buy! I enjoy vacuuming again, because I can actually see the good it's doing by how much dirt gets into the canister!

    Thank you, Dyson!

3-0 out of 5 stars Are the other reviewers Dyson employees?
I bought this item after reading the ridiculously overinflated reviews on this site and on the epinions site. I think these people must have been hired to write these reviews-- some of them even sound similar to each other. What I've found, after a few days of using this item, is:
PROS: On carpet only, absolutely great suction, better than any vacuum cleaner I've ever owned. Very easy dirt disposal-- you just detach the canister and hold it over a trash can. It is quieter than you'd think, considering the suction. Also a big plus is that you supposedly don't ever have to clean the filter. The Dyson sucked up a lot more into the clear canister than my other canister vacuum, which was really surprising, since when you take it out of the box it is a flimsy plastic piece of crap. Which brings me to the cons:
CONS: crummy plastic construction, a cord that DOESN'T RETRACT, inconvenient hose extension, vacuum has to be right OVER the dirt to suck it up from bare floor, expensive, etc. etc. In short, if suction of large pieces is your main concern (as it is mine, since i have large pieces of hay and litter from my pets) then this is your vacuum. I certainly didn't find, as I read in all the reviews here, that the suction is so great that it's difficult to use this vacuum on area rugs. I like this and will keep it, but it's not a very good value, in my opinion. It's just the only vacuum I've found that will take up all the hay and junk-- and I haven't used it long enough to know if it will last. Also I like the fact that you don't have to clean the filter.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't Buy This Vacuum!
This is one of the worst vacuum cleaners I have ever used. Don't believe the hype! It is very painful to use. It is difficult to go from a hard floor to carpet or from the carpet to the rug as it automatically adjusts, whereas most vacuums you can just tilt back and it does the work for you. With this vac, you have to pick it up! People with bad backs beware! You also have to unwrap the entire long, long cord to use ANY of the nozzles. I have owned this vacuum less than a year and am very dissatisfied with this purchase. In addition to the design problems it is falling apart and, unlike Mr Dyson says, has lost its suction. I used to love to vacuum but this vacuum has driven me to dread it. Please don't waste your hundreds of dollars on this machine.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!!!!!
This is the "Best" vacuum I have ever bought, & I've owned a few. I had just vacuumed that morning. I used my new Dyson that night & sucked-up quite a bit in the canister. I guess my Dirt Devil's not cutting it! This vacuum is a nice solid weight & not nearly as loud as other's. The carpet looks like it was just cleaned! I know my home is cleaner now & I believe the Dyson will be worth every penny I paid!

5-0 out of 5 stars OH MY GOSH...THIS SO ROCKS!
I LOVE THIS VACUME! I never thought I would say that about a vacume but hey, never say never! This is so wonderful! It cleans- I mean REALLY cleans the floor! It self adjusts, and is easy to empty! It is very lightweight and it is so convient and well made! I have a 1 year old and this vacume gets used alot and I actually enjoy vacumming!!! SO WORTH THE MONEY!!! Get it and don't waste money on another machine! 5 BIG GOLD STARS!!! ... Read more

The specially designed brushbar turns off when covering delicate surfaces so it won???t scratch or harm them. And the central pivot head maintains perfect contact with surfaces at all times thanks to the auto-adjust feature. No dials or levers needed! What makes the Dyson vacuum so desirable is its patented RootCyclone technology, a centrifugal force suction that is always constant, unlike other vacuums that can lose up to 50 percent suction while operating. It never clogs and requires no filter or bag changes. Plus, the clear bin lets you easily see when it requires emptying - a hygienic process that requires the simple push of a button. Other features include telescoping wand instantly that releases and expands to reach stairs, ceiling corners and awkward places, wide channel that picks up bigger pieces of dirt, easy-to-carry ergonomic design, made from the same material used for crash helmets - durable, tough polycarbonate, includes brush, floor and crevice tools that store conveniently on top, lifetime HEPA filtration for cleaner expelled air; approved for allergy sufferers and a 2 year limited warranty. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars it is worth the extra money
I have the Dyson Complete - purchased at Sears. (It is like the Animal but with additional attachments). What can I say... this vacuum is awesome. We have two large breed dogs and four cats. This vacuum does a fantastic job on pet hair.We have owned four vacuums in seventeen years. This is the first vacuum that doesn't get clogged with pet hair.It works great on carpets, ceramic tile, and Pergo. It has many useful attachments.I especially like the one that cleans ceiling fans.It isn't too heavy and dumping the dust cup is a snap.I am so happy with this purchase. If you have pets... buy the Dyson.

5-0 out of 5 stars Worth every penny
I just purchased the DC14 Complete from Sears, which is the same as the Animal but with more tools. What a fine vacuum this is, and worth the $569.99 I paid for it. The hair it picked up from my carpet was unbelievable; in fact, I had to empty the cup after vacuuming each room. It's exceptionally quiet, easy to push, and fairly lightweight. The turbo tool for upholstery works better than any hand-held upholstery vacuum I have ever used. The cup is super easy to empty. You just push the button to remove it from the vac, hold it over a garbage can or bag, push the red button, and the bottom opens up and releases the contents cleanly and quickly. You never have to touch a thing. I have 3 long-haired cats and a long-haired dog, so a good vacuum is important to me. It appears to be very well made, and sturdy. I just got it today and haven't used all the tools yet, but I will. If you're looking for a vacuum and don't mind the price tag, I highly recommend this brand.

5-0 out of 5 stars Greatest Vacuum EVER!!!!
I got this vacuum from my husband for Christmas and I have to say, if anything ever happened to it, I'd cry. I absolutely love seeing all the dirt that it picks up. It will clean any surface easily and I can finally vacuum my kitchen floor without little pieces of dirt flying back and hitting me in the shins. My husband spilled salt all over the floor and I made him clean it up while I put the little one to bed. He was vacuuming and yelling back to me how awesome it is. Without using the attachments, he just vacuumed up every spec with no problems.
The handle comes out and extends so you can vacuum around the edges of a room or baseboards without having to bend over. It sucks the dirt off those baseboards so well... I've never seen anything like it.
There is only a few flaws that I can see in it. 1. There is no light, but so far that hasn't bothered me at all. I had an oreck and it drove me nuts that there was no light.I guess it's because I'm not worried about whether or not I'm going to vacuum over a safety pen or lego toy.. it won't ruin it. 2. The handle comes out and extends, but it's a little inconvenient to vacuum things you don't want the extension for. I'm addicted to vacuuming my bed and couches now, but it's a little awkward with the long handle (but still very rewarding).I'm sure you can remove the extension, but I haven't tried, it isn't bad enough.3. The cord winds up and hangs on the handle, so everytime you take it out, you have to take the cord off too.

Over all the 'flaws' are so minor that with the results you see, you don't mind having to put up with them. It's constantly got a serious suction, so I can vacuum my bed and pillows to get the dust mites out and I know it's getting it. I also have a down comforter, so being able to vacuum the dust out of that is really nice too.
It glides so well, so cleaning your floors is so easy and of course when you see all the dirt, fuzz and of course the microscopic skin cells... you'll see what I mean... there is no bigger thrill after cleaning. By cleaning the dead cells, you're leaving no food for dust mites, which should help with alergies and other breathing problems. I get bad alergies and with being pregnant, I don't want to take anything for it... This vacuum cleaner has helped dramatically. Plus when you take the canister out to dump, you just push a button and it just falls out into the trash without going everywhere.

I should mention, since it is an "animal", that it does pick up hair and fur very well. I had a windtunnel before and I would still find long pieces of my hair that was just stuck on the carpet. I also have a long haired cat, and this vacuum will get every sign of hair and fur. I got it originally because according to the reviews, the animal was better than the yellow. I asked for the purple one for Christmas, and my husband got me this one, which is I guess an upgrade of the Animal. As of yet, I don't know what the exact difference is, I just know I love mine. I love having the extra accesories that come with this as aposed to the yellow, it's well worth the investment.

Bottom line, besides the few minor drawbacks, which I'm sure they'll realize and adjust later... This is the most wonderful vacuum, worth every penny I promise you. Every house should have one. Seeing all that comes out of my furniture and floor makes me want to clean everything else too. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Over designed
I must agree with most other reviewers who praised the performance of the Dyson vacuum cleaners. They clean better than any other vacuum cleaner I have experienced and do not lose their suction with usage.I also agree with them that the mini turbine is practically useless for cleaning stairs, especially corners and crevices.Although the carrying handle is conveniently placed and well balanced, it is tempting to reach for the even more accessible "handle" on top of the wand to carry the machine (shame on me).But I feel the flexible hose could be designed better (shame on them). It is made of steel coils that somewhat resemble a slinky covered with a plastic sleeve.Compared to rubber hoses on other machines, it is relatively stiff and inflexible. And this is the reason users can realistically expect to extend the 17 foot hose only 10-12 feet before encountering considerable resistance and eventually toppling the unit. In fact, this resistance is encountered the instant the hose is released from the unit and suspended in mid air. And every time I release the hose from the unit and it starts to twist I am concerned a steel coil will bend and/or break. Rubber hoses on many other machines, on the other hand, casually rest on the floor while being used and do not provide such resistance, while still compressing into a compact size after usage. But maybe Dyson has considered rubber hoses and rejected them for fear they would not be sturdy enough to accommodate the insertion of the wand. In conclusion, although I am generally pleased with the performance, I believe a hose re-design should be considered. The big question in my mind now is trying to decide if this unit, all features considered, is worth three times the cost of the best Fantom commercial-type unit. The jury is still out on that one. ... Amazon.com Review

A piece of engineering wizardry created by James Dyson, inventor of thecyclonic vacuum, the 12-amp Dyson DC07 upright with floor tool combines unparalleledpower with structural advances. At the center of the machine's innovation is the Cycloneair path design, an eight-section chamber that creates powerful, consistent suction. Theconical chambers generate 100,000 g of centrifugal force, pushing dust and dirt out of theairflow into the vacuum's 1-gallon collection cup. With no bag to clog, the vacuum's 270air watts of suction remain steady. The large, transparent collection cup is easy to checkand empties tidily--pop it off, hold it over a trash bin, and pull the trigger to release dirtwithout having to touch it. The DC07 also comes equipped with a multipart filtrationsystem to improve overall air quality in the home. The HEPA filter, measuring 412square inches in surface area, traps microscopic particulates and allergens. Expertly built, the filter is designedto last the lifetime of the machine.

Suitable for bare floors and carpets, the Dyson upright features a 14-inch cleaning pathand edge-cleaning bristles. A simple foot pedal switches off the brush roll for bare floors, and the nozzle automatically adjusts for changes in carpet height. The floor tool featuredon this model makes for straightforward nozzle vacuuming where you usually strugglewith a hose. Its ultralow profile needs only 3-1/2 inches of clearance, so it reaches easilyunder sofas, beds, and low chairs. For above-floor cleaning, the vacuum comes with acleverly stowed, 17-foot quick-release hose. The hose's handle reverses to an extensionwand, and onboard accessories include a crevice tool, a dusting brush, and an upholsteryattachment. Made from the same material used in crash helmets, the vacuum isunquestionably durable. Plus, the design only puts 4 pounds of weight on the handle, sopushing and turning is easy. This model comes with a 35-foot power cord and a limitedtwo-year household warranty. --Emily Bedard ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic vacuum! And this is an HONEST review!
First I have to say to Laura from VA, who wrote an earlier "review", that it's not right for you to come on here and accuse people of planting false reviews. My wife and I recently bought a Dyson DC07 and I can tell you that yes, it is THAT good. How do I know you don't work for Hoover? The obvious reason for the numerous rave reviews on the internet for this Dyson vacuum, is that it's a great product that does what it's supposed to do better than most others. As far as Consumer Reports giving it a low score, that's because they are BIG on safety. So much so, that unless a product is totally idiot proof, they will score it low. Yes, if you are stupid enough to push the canister release button while carrying it, it will drop. Duh. Also, Consumer Reports seems to always give higher marks to "value" priced items and look down on premium priced goods.
We couldn't be happier with the Dyson. We bought it to replace a 3 year old Dirt Devil bagless upright. The Dyson cleans better, is quieter, seems made better, is easier to empty without any mess AND you never need to buy replacement HEPA filters! And guess what....I DON'T work for Dyson.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing
We bought this vacuum as a replacement for our high-end, high priced Hoover. The Hoover had a lot of power, but was very heavy and was prone to falling over and damaging walls, furniture and its user. We always thought it (the Hoover) was doing a good job until we got our Dyson. The amount of fine dirt and dust the Dyson picked up from our berber carpet was amazing. It works great on oriental rugs as well. The wall-to-wall carpets in our bedroom are noticable fresher and cleaner after just one vacuuming with the Dyson.

The only negative we have found is that you have to use the floor tool to clean hardwood floors. Turing off the beater brush and using the bare floor mode doesn't work. (The unit won't pick up crumbs and other typical kitchen floor dirt in this mode.)

We highly recommend this vacuum. It cleans extremely well, is user friendly, and is very quiet relative to other vaccum cleaners.

5-0 out of 5 stars PLAIN PERFECT
AFTER TRYING THE BISSELL AND HOOVER - I ENDED UP GETTING THIS GREAT MACHINE - I PAID OVER $475.00 - BIG CHUNK OUT OF MY CHECK BOOK - BUT IT SUCKS EVERY PIECE OF DIRT IN THE CARPET AND FLOOR. HOPE IT LASTS... GREAT BUY - AND ITS NOT ALL HYPE.

5-0 out of 5 stars Skeptic becomes a convert
I have three cats (one is a longhair), my husband and I both have long hair, and I was skeptical that anything would be able to handle the challenges of our home. I've tried a Hoover, a Kirby, various Eurekas and a couple of different Dirt Devils, and a Kenmore, some cannister and some uprights, over the years. I figured, what the heck? I can always send it back if it doesn't work out. I ordered the Dyson DC07 at the end of June, and here it is, the middle of July, and I can't imagine why I wasted the time and energy on anything else. Our hardwood floors have never been cleaner, and the carpets are no longer in danger of being sent out to be cleaned. It's much quieter and lighter-weight than I had expected from some of the reviews I read before ordering, and is relatively simple to operate, although the assembly and tool switching instructions could use some fine-tuning. A labeled picture with arrows pointing to the different buttons would be helpful, also. But this bad boy really SUCKS! I haven't had any clogging issues, and emptying the containment chamber couldn't be easier. Of course, I do typically have to empty the chamber a couple of times during use, so that's a big plus for me.

Since it is so easy to handle and to use, I find myself vaccuming more often, and spending less time vaccuming. That's GOTTA be a good thing!

5-0 out of 5 stars Dyson vaccuum
I have pets; 2 cats and 2 dogs to be specific. I use to have buy a new vaccuum every other year, and even when new they did not do a great job picking up pet hair. I'd have to unglog the dog hair every cleaning from around the rotating brushes. It was a nightmare! I hated vaccuuming! But since I've bought the Dyson "yellow" model, (less bells & whistles than this model), NO PROBLEMS! What a blessing this vaccuum is!

I love the features; bagless, easy to empty, can retrieve items accidently vaccuumed, great filter, my only complaint is that the hose is not long enough to reach all areas easily, but small price to pay!

If you own pets, this might just be the last vaccuum you ever own! Thank you for the best vaccuum ever!!!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Vacuum!
I spent weeks looking for a vacuum that worked well and was easy to manuver. I was so frustrated! I first purchased a Hoover svvay and took it back. It was pretty but It weighed 28lbs. I looked at all models and brands. The Dyson won out! NOT only does it suck up every bit of dirt, it's the smartest designed vaccum out there. After using it once, I figured out the attachments. Now it's actually a pleasure to vacuum!

5-0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended vacuum!!
I highly recommend this vacuum. I can't believe the difference in the carpet after using this vacuum. It's amazing. Like it says, it doesn't lose suction!!! You can't believe how much dirt and lint it picks up even right after vacuuming with a different vacuum. No comparison. It is very easy to use and the attachments are great. Was a little tricky at first using the hose and attachments but now after using it a few times is a piece of cake.

5-0 out of 5 stars Oh my gosh! the dirt!!!
Purchaseda Dyson DC07 Full Gear today.
First I vacuumed with my old vacuum (a $270 Hoover
upright in good shape) then re-vacuumed with the Dyson.
We were amazed at how much the vacuum picked up,

5-0 out of 5 stars 2 years + and still great
I bought this when they first came out over 2 years ago. Still haven't had a clog up in the machine. Works absolutely fantastic on the pet hair. I have 3 rotties and a mini daschund and the carpets are in great shape!! I had one problem with the hinge on the canister breaking, but I called customer service and within a couple days I had a whole replacement canister. No problems at all. Best money I ever spent on a sweeper!!

5-0 out of 5 stars This vacuum sucks...in a good way!
I bought this item under recommendations from a few friends. This vacuum rocks!I have 8 cats, and this thing gets up the fur. It's amazing to see how much junk this thing can pick up in one use! it's also easy to assemble, use, and empty. You could probably get your kids to vacuum with it because it's actually fun to use (and the pretty purple plastic makes it look kinda like a toy). Also, it's surprisingly quiet...not whisper quiet, but much quieter than I was expecting.Dyson's customer service seems pretty good too.I called just to ask some questions about products. The associate answered my questions very thouroughly and didn't try to rush me off the phone. This was quite a splurge for me (I've never spent more than $100 on a vacuum before), but worth every penny. ... From Dyson, the makers of the high-end vacuum cleaners that never lose their suction, comes this spot cleaner formulated for heavy-duty spills on rugs and carpets. Dyzolv has four active agents that go to work on stains ranging from soil and grease to food and drinks. A dispersant cleans up soil-based spots while a solvent and detergent combine forces to mobilize and clean up oil-based stains. The fourth agent, another solvent, speeds up the cleaner's drying time on the carpet. Results are fairly instant as the instructions require spraying the spill and then immediately blotting it with a cloth. Dyzolv is safe for wool and stain-resistant carpets and is also pH neutral and environmentally friendly to maintain a healthy home.
