Amazon.com Review

Keep that new slate entry hall or tiled bathroom floor looking as clean as the day it was laid with the Hoover Floor Mate. Designed especially for cleaning hard, sealed floors, including stone, wood, and laminate, the Floor Mate performs a triple-whammy: it vacuums, washes, and dries. Dual tank design for wet or dry cleaning, a deluxe grip with solution trigger, and a 13-inch cleaning path make cleaning a snap. Four rows of soft brushes safely and gently clean floors with the included 8-ounce bottles of Lysol and Old English concentrated solutions. The brush assembly and nozzle squeegee remove for cleaning, and the EZ-empty recovery tank automatically shuts off when full. Soft wheels mean no worries about dents or scratches on those gleaming floors. The Floor Mate measures approximately 29 by 10 by 15 inches, weighs 18 pounds, and is covered by a one-year warranty. --Ann Bieri ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars If you want to get your dust wet and leave it as streaks ---
A miserable experience. I bought this through Amazon when I contracted to have my hardwood floors refinished. The contractor took way too long, so I didn't try to use it until yesterday. Only the dry vacuum function worked, and not very well. I tried to call Hoover. They don't have an 800 customer service number, so I had to pay for a looonnnnnggggg long distance call. Got a busy signal the first ten times, then was put in line ("Your call is important to us") for 47 minutes, a total of one hour 13 minutes before I got a human being. She first tried to tell me that she didn't know anything about their products and that I should take it to my local appliance repair shop. I insisted and she finally suggested that I unscrew the handle and screw it on again. I did. Nothing, though I noticed that the internal "controls" are a couple of flimsey plastic sticks, the very essence of nineteenth century technology, but with cheaper materials. Ever heard of a switch?

I then drove across the county to my Hoover dealer. He told me that there were two screws missing, which should have been installed at the factory, and replaced them. He also pointed out that the "scrub" function is a misnomer -- the thing doesn't scrub; its brushes aren't designed to move at all. He assured me that the tiny dribble of cleaning solution he managed to get out of it was all it needed.

I took my expensive toy home and tried it. The advertised three-way action is actually about a half dozen separate actions, only two of them (vacuuming and dribbling) done by the machine. You have to do the rest. First you have to dry vacuum the floor. Then you switch over to wet/scrub and three tiny streaks of fluid appear. Then you go back over it to spread the fluid around and, supposedly, to pick up the fluid and dirt. After a few minutes the floor dries and you see dirty streaks everywhere. Repeat process. Same thing. Repeat, repeat, repeat. Then go get a mop and do it properly.

As far as I can tell, the purpose of this appliance is to moisten dust, move it around a little and leave it on the floor as streaks. The machine has no effect whatever on dried spills, footprints, scuff marks, dirt or any of the other things that routinely find their way onto a floor. And the tanks are so small that you can only do about half a room before you have to empty and refill.

I have bought a lot of appliances since I started restoring my house. Some have been great (Bosch dishwasher, Mac woodchipper, Mikita powertools), most good (Amana gas range, ShopVac), but this Hoover is the biggest piece of crap, backed by the worst customer service, that I have enountered outside the former Soviet Union. I gave it one star only because you are not given the option of none. And now Amazon won't take it back because 30 days passed before I could use it.

4-0 out of 5 stars thought there was only one model
i too didn't realize there were diff.models [i researched it on the web] but saw it at brandsmart and thought i was getting a good buy. its not the magic bullet for tile but saves the mopping.who knew there were supposed to be spinning brushes?a little truth in advertising? problem is finding lysol concentrate for machine.is there somehing else to use?

3-0 out of 5 stars Get the FloorMate 3000 or 3010 for just a little more $$
We ordered the FloorMate 2800 model from the Home Shopping Network last week by mistake (paid $165, including shipping). We hadn't done enough prior research to realize there were THREE different FloorMate models, and this was the bottom-of-the-line model with immobile brushes.

It went together easily; probably 10 minutes and we were ready to go. Somehow we managed to get it out of the box and assembled without noticing the brush configuration (there was no need to turn it over during assembly).

I vacuumed and cleaned the white linoleum in our 500 sf kitchen in about an hour, using about 1.5 tanks of water + 3 oz of solution. It did a great job of picking up dog hair, pepper, sugar, etc, and did an OK job of cleaning the floor (still kind of dirty in the pits of the linoleum. I was disappointed that it took so long, but amazed at how filthy the water was, when we had just mopped a couple of days before.

While cleaning it out I discovered it didn't have the spinning brushes. After some quick research, we found that both the 3000 and 3010 models have the spinning brushes. The 3010 model (FloorMate Plus) has only been out since Sept 2003, costs only about $35 more than we paid, and also has a longer cord and extra set of brushes. It didn't take long to decide to send back the 2080 and get the 3010.

We weren't completely unhappy with the results of the 2080, but figured for $30 more, the 3010 would do even better.

5-0 out of 5 stars clean grout !!!!!!!!!!
I purchased this with a bit of scepticism. I'm not a cleaning fanatic, but I like a clean house. Well, the grout in our tile is now getting clean and the stained concrete porch with all the doggy footprints is getting clean as well. I highly recommend this product. I am so excited about it that I've told friends. I never talk about cleaning with my friends.

This is well worth the $!!!!!!!!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars So dissatisfied with performance I returned it.
I ordered this item on the basis of customer reviews. I tried to use it on both tile (in the bathroom), linoleum (in the kitchen), and hardwood floors. In none of these cases did it give satisfactory results. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Set this lightweight vacuum in a closet like a broom (or hang it from its handle hole) and use it just as often and just as conveniently. Weighing just 7 pounds and standing 47 inches high, the vacuum's nozzle, powered by a 430-watt motor, cleans carpets with a brush and cleans bare floors after the brush has been retracted by the flick of a lever. The plastic vacuum has no bags to mess with. Instead, it captures dirt in a chamber, inside of which is a special, permanent, washable "cyclonic" filter. The chamber detaches for emptying and is transparent so the dirt level can be monitored. Additional convenience is provided by a 3-foot hose with a crevice tool attached and a handle for lifting the vacuum horizontally to clean stairs. The cord measures 20 feet, and the vacuum assembles quickly with a single screw (which is included). Hoover provides a one-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Does A Good Job
I received my Hoover S2551 Quick Broom in 5 business days from my order, which was excellent considering it was free shipping. It was easy to put together, and I used it right away. It did a good job of picking up dirt, dog hairs, pine needles, and miscellaneous bits from both my hard floors and carpeting. You should not expect this vac. to do the job of a $200 carpet vacuum but is a good choice for everyday quick pickups. My only criticism is the hard little wheels which seem to be the norm for this type of vac. I know they are scratching my wood floors and I use them very carefully on these floors. Otherwise, a good little vac.

4-0 out of 5 stars It SAYS it's for floors
Some people are crying about this vacuum not doing a good job on carpet. It's nor FOR carpet. Also, some were griping about the nozzle falling off in use. I had the same problem, took it to a local Hoover dealer, and come to find out it was missing two screws that securely attach the nozzle to the machine. Voila! it works like a charm. Hoover apparently had a "memory lapse" and didn't ship the screws with the machine.

2-0 out of 5 stars Useful only on floors
If you are planning to use this quick broom on carpets, it won't do a good job,it is only suitable for floors.

1-0 out of 5 stars Sucks only figuratively.
I've owned a Quik-Broom encore for almost a year. Never once have I used it that I haven't been on my hands and knees using the hose attachment in the vain hope of picking up a piece of lint or crumb. Purchase this vacuum only if you don't care about cleanliness; it will never help you achieve it.

4-0 out of 5 stars good one!

If you want to clean a quick spill without sweeping or bending, the Quik-Broom is ideal. This vacuum cleaner is what you might get if you crossed a handheld vacuum cleaner with a standard upright, but it does have a few standard features. An onboard tube and brush work well on drapes and other off-the-floor jobs. The Quik-Broom also has a toe switch for turning the rotating front brush on and off. (Because the front of the main cleaning head is transparent, it's easy to see whether or not the brush is rotating.) The bagless system uses cyclonic action to whirl dirt to the sides of the transparent dirt collector, where it gets trapped; the collector snaps off easily for quick emptying. The Quik-Broom stores on a hanging bracket in your closet, just like an overweight broom. --Richard Farr ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars It really works!
I owned a hoover 4 amp runabout for 8 years and used it 2x daily! When it finally gave out I went searching for a replacement. After trying several brands I was nervious I would need to buy a broom! I researched the Hoover 2610 and based on reviews decided to give it a try...I'm so glad I did! It has alot of power and does a great job on hard floors and rugs! Combine this stick vacuum with the Eureka Enviro Steemer and you will cut your time and effort in half! Don't be afraid to try it, You will not be dissapointed! As soon as their available, I'll be ordering another one for my Father in-law!

5-0 out of 5 stars Lots of power in a small package.
For a compact, lightweight electric-broom style vacuum, this Hoover does a much better job than some canister vacs I've had in the past. The suction power is impressive, picking up everything from feathers to fine dust particles. It's very light and easy to move and lift. The clear plastic over the beater bar lets you see what the vac is sucking up, and the bagless system lets you retrieve objects very easily (handy for earring backs, etc). The only drawback to this machine is that the suction area of the beater bar is not as wide as someone used to a canister vac would expect. For someone with a smaller living space or as a supplement to a full-sized vac, this machine is ideal.

1-0 out of 5 stars Keep Looking...
What a disappointing product. I needed to replace my Hoover Brush Vac, a dependable lightweight stick vacuum cleaner I use in between major weekly cleanings, mainly to keep the golden retriever fur under control. I was hoping to find another brush vac, maybe one whose plastic parts were a little more sturdy, but basically the same set up. It has been "improved" right out of existence. This Quik-Broom seems to be trying to be both a light duty product and a serious vacuum cleaner. It is failing badly at both. The brush head slides on (no screws), and so slides off again whenever it pleases. The short, flimsy hose attachment serves no real purpose except to necessitate the relocation of the cord wrap bracket, which is now right above floor level. The corresponding top cord bracket is almost three feet above it, which turns wrapping everything up into an aerobic endeavor. Another surprise is the weight of the thing. Why is something almost completely plastic so uncomfortably heavy and awkward to push? But, the icing on the cake is its inability to vacuum underneath anything. Due to an extended platform on the back of the cleaner head, when the handle is tipped back, say to vacuum under the coffee table, the entire brush head lifts up. Just right up off the floor. Forget cleaning under the sofa or beds. I expected better from Hoover.

1-0 out of 5 stars cranky little product
I don't actualy own this product my sister does, but I did use it once. The horibble review she would give it would take a page or two, so I will give you my experience. We had a little saw dust on her carpet from sawing 1 piece of moulding. The 4 month old product with an empty cup only managed to move the saw dust around alot. Mind you, it did do a superb job of pushing the saw dust into the carpet.

1-0 out of 5 stars Save your money and buy a broom and dustpan.
I bought this for my mother. I thought that it would be easier for her to use for small cleaning jobs than her large canister. After being used on less than a dozen occasions the power nozzle stopped working. The repair shop said it would cost $60+ to fix, almost the purchase price. Additionally, both the nozzle and the dirt cup detached with maddening regularity. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars my nice little Hoover
For its size, weight, and price, this is a mighty fine cleaning device. I live with 2 indoor cats, so it not only has to deal with lots of fur, but those pesky little grains of sand that seem to travel far from the litter pan...and it does a good job with both.

The plus factors are: It hangs in my broom closet taking up very little space, it's incredibly light, the cord is long enough to reach many areas, it works equally well on carpeting or the kitchen/bathroom flooring, the nozzle is thin and mobile enough to clean corners and tight spaces, and most of all (and this is a big item for me and my four-pawed friends), the sound is tolerable for our sensitive ears.

Yes, you have to invert the filter and clean it, but it's a sturdy one (and washes well if you want to), and if done carefully with a paper towel is an easy enough procedure...it also amazes me how much finds its way into the filter, proof that this handy Quick-Broom is doing its job.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not bad but.......
This was easy to assemble, isn't that noisy and is easy to manuver. It works great on hardfloors but is terrible on carpeting. I have 2 dogs (1 is a collie with real long fur). It just pushed the fur around on carpets if it did anything at all. Then I had to use hose to suck up the small clumps on carpet. We bought this as a quick supplement to the "real" vacuum we already have. Its is being returned to the store as we speak. Its unfortunate because its a great little vac on floors...its just the carpet that it really does next to nothing on. If all you have is hardfloors then this would be a great value for the money. If you have carpets then you want to keep looking...its just not going to do the job. :(

1-0 out of 5 stars Not for carpets with hair
This little vacuum is not useful if there is hair(human) spread on the carpet. We have to manually remove the hair after vacuuming.
Not only that, the accessories do not serve the purpose as the hose is very short.
I don't recommend this product for anybody.

2-0 out of 5 stars Two stars is generous for this vacuum
I received this item last year as a Christmas gift. I had specifically asked for this electric broom since I had done some research on-line and this one sounded the best. I have five pugs and they shed 365 days a year! Some days they shed like ten pugs, it is very frustrating because the hair is always there. I needed an easy to use vacuum since we only have a central vac system in our house.
At first I thought this product was great and easy to use. But the more I used it the more frustrated I got. The hose attachment is so inconvenient to use. Plus it could be about 3 feet longer to reach anything important. I found myself having to hold the elec-broom up off the ground to reach some cobwebs in a corner. It is light but cumbersome to have to lift and vacuum with. It would be nice if the unit could stand on it's own. If you have to stop for a second to move something you basically have to lay the unit on the floor.
It also doesn't reach underneath any type of furniture. Plus the way the front release is positioned it is in the right spot to have the overhang on the bottom of my kitchen cabinets hit it and make the filter become unhooked.
I found it annoying to have to empty the filter so often and the vacuum got pretty dingy and dirty itself. The button that allows you to turn off the brush is located at foot level which makes you think you can use your foot to turn it on and off. It took a few months but the switch broke quickly (luckily my husband is handy and he was able to fix it). Now I have to be very careful when I use the switch.
At this time I find myself looking for a new unit. One that can do the job I need. If you have pets that shed a lot and want to use an electric broom daily, I wouldn't waist my time or money with this vacuum.

4-0 out of 5 stars A must for pet owners with wood floors and shedding issues
I have a dog that seems to do nothing but eat, sleep and SHED. I have looked everywhere for a product that is lightweight and easy to use to pick up the hair that seems to get into everything. Magnetic brooms are okay but the hair is very light and fine and most of it just gets stirred up. My apartment has hardwood floors and this is PERFECT for them. It is so lightweight and easy to use and IMPORTANTLY, easy to unclog when the hair gets in the way (also easy to tell as the hair in the transparent canister stops spinning). Also great for picking up and dirt and other things she tracks in.

That being said, this is not something to get if you have carpeting. I have assorted throw rugs throughout the apartment and this really does nothing for those. I do however also have a dirt devil handvac that does extremely well at getting the hair out of the rugs.

All in all, if you have wood floors this is a great little product, especially if you have pets. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars I really wanted to love this machine, BUT...
the Hoover Floor Mate Plus didn't even come close to measuring up. The dry vacuum setting did not effectively pick up things that small children routinely toss or drop to the floor, like Cheerios or random elbows of last night's Mac-n-Cheese dinner. It would pick up finer particles (like bread crumbs), but in order to get anything bigger, I would have to pivot the vacuum up and set it directly on top of the item, sometimes having to do that two or three times before it would go in.

The wet scrubbing setting: A MAJOR fault of this brush design is that they are horizontal disks that spin sideways. This might work if you have Pergo floors that don't have any little crevices to speak of, but if you have ceramic or terra cotta tile with recessed grout lines, those flat little brush disks simply cannot get down in those crevices in order to properly clean them. The fact that I had to go back and re-mop those areas with the scrubbie side of my mop did not make for a happy mom. :-(

On the plus side, the wet vac part worked great. All the water was vacummed up with little residual dampness to speak of.

Bottom line? The Hoover will be returned for a refund. I will be ordering the new Dirt Devil hard floor cleaner that has just come out and see how that stacks up - seeing as it features a rotating brush (like on many vacuums), it seems like there might be a better chance of it getting into those "hard to reach" areas. ;-) With two young children, four Peruvian Paso horses, a shetland pony and a Newfoundland dog, we are a household in need of some pretty serious muscle power in terms of cleaners. I look forward to writing in my review of the Dirt Devil and seeing how they compare.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Product!
I purchased the Hoover H3010 2 months ago and I am extremely pleased with it. I previously used a swiffer wet jet on my laminate floor, but wanted something 'stronger' to clean the floors. I have 3 kids and a dog, and the floor mate allows me to vacume up the dirt and dog hair, then with a quick swich of a button, I can scrub the floors. It gets my floors very clean and is good at tackling the dried spills that collect under the table from my children. The floor mate is also great because the floor dries much quicker. It is very easy to operate and clean. I love this product.

5-0 out of 5 stars I haven't stopped cleaning
I got this as a Christmas/housewarming Gift from a male friend of my husband, who watched me sweep my new kitchen floor. With all the wet weather and at least one dog (sometimes three) when my daughter comes over, it was starting to become a joke trying to keep up. I had been using a swiffer, but knew the time was approaching when I would have to break down and really clean the floor. The first time I used the Floor Mate Plus, it left so little water, I wasn't sure if enough water was getting on the floor to do the trick. This machine did it all. The proof was in the DIRTY water afterwards and the almost dry floor immediately after the cleaning. It picked up the animal fur, pine needles, sand, outside dirt and dust. I love it for the tile floors but I love it even more for the wood floors. Buy it, you'll love it.

5-0 out of 5 stars I love this machine...
This is a great machine. I do not use it to vacuum, I have a little cordless stick vac for that, or my central vac, but this machine makes cleaning my big tile kitchen floor a joy. Gets every bit of dirt up and saves my bad back. I do not see any difference in performance between this one and the H3000, which I borrowed from a friend to try out, but the cord is longer, and the solution and return tanks seem easier to remove and replace. I recommend this machine to anyone with a lot of tile to keep clean.

4-0 out of 5 stars Like the way it cleans but ---- it Leaks
Bought this unit to clean up after our 2 year old. I cannot believe how muddy the return tank was after. The floor was mopped (swiffer) just a day before it arrived but we wanted to know how well this performs. I got this for the sole purpose of wet cleaning and I do have a stick vac next to it for dry pickups. It is lighter and easier to move around.

I like the extra long cord. I wired extra outlets inside the my laundry room and kept the floormate and stick vac plugged in and ready to use.

I do notice that a small amount of water leaks out each time you remove the tanks. So expect a little puddle each time you empty them. We keep them in the laundry room with the tanks at least half full of the floor cleaner to keep it ready and it does not leak while in storage.

Beyond these minor nuances, I would recommend this unit. It definitely cleans better than any mop. The squeegee dries the floor out completely except where you stop (leaks). So just have some paper towels in your pocket and you will be fine. Wiping off a puddle is easier than walking all over a damp hardwood floor anytime. ... Read more

This lightweight vacuum is the ideal machine for apartments andquick household cleanups. It captures dirt in a chamber rather than abag, cleans both carpets and bare floors, and can be stored on awall-mounted hanging handle (included). 5-0 out of 5 stars A Very Satisfied Gift Giver (Christmas 2001)
I researched this item on multiple internet sites and read users
reviews. My wife is delighted with light weight, ease of use &
the cleaning results. To highlight those features our 3yr old
grandson used it repeatedly on Christmas day to help clean up
our large carpeted family room of gift wrappings and dog hair.
He loved it and did a good job cleaning while being entertained.
It will get more use than our larger Electrolux. Since we have a large long ranch; we may get a second one for the other end of
the home. My wife's addition to the review: IT'S A WONDERFUL TIME
SAVER.

5-0 out of 5 stars Incredible power
At first when I received this Hoover in the mail I thought I had ordered a toy for my daughter. It is incredible light yet powerfully strong. I opened the package right away and assembled it without a problem. Very easy to assemble. I ordered this vacuum to specifically clean two new area rugs I recently purchased. It worked fantastic with the area rugs not to mention the wall to wall carpeting in my bedroom. The fact that it does not need a bag is so conveniant. I hate changing bags on vacuums. This is a great machine at a wonderful price. it is incredibly strong yet light enough for my 6 year old daughter to help with the cleaning as well. It is also fantastic because I can go from cleaning the area rugh to cleaning the hard wood floor with the flip of a switch. I would highly recommend this vacuum to everyone.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Suction for a Great Price
For the weekly quick floor cleaning, this is a great machine. Suction of fine dust and particles is excellent. Snap to use. Filter is superior hepa, made of durable vinyl, made to last. Just wash after every use.

Drawbacks: Very noisy and loud; roller belt is only 1/4" wide and may need replacing in two years (spray with silicon to prolong life). All in all, a great machine for the price. Meant primarily for quick floor clean ups (hard and rugs). For hardcore cleaning, I use my big vaccuum with hose and attachments.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great vacuum
I read all of the reviews for this before buying it and thought I'd give it a try -- not a big risk for [money]! I love it! I did not have very high expectations of the carpet cleaning ability but it does amazingly well. On bare floors it generally does great, thought at times bigger particles don't get picked up. But, this is so lightweight that I just pick it up and put it down on the thing I want to pick up. I have a bad back so lugging my big vacuum around for small everyday jobs like cat litter and hair wasn't happening. This really fit the bill!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great on Dog Hair!
I have two dogs that shed like crazy--and this lighweight cleaner is perfect for daily cleaning. The brush makes it perfect to give a quick sweep to the carpeted stairs, though for more thorough carpet sweep I use a bigger machine. However, remember: a vacuum is no good unless you actually use it, and who wants to use a big machine all the time? This is easy to empty, too. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Ideal for apartments and quick household cleanups, this lightweight, cordless, rechargeable broom vacuum captures dirt in a chamber rather than a bag, cleans both carpets and bare floors, and can be stored on a wall-mounted recharging rack (included). To drive the brush roll, the 10-inch head has a motor separate from the suction motor, and the head's window permits monitoring of brush roll operation. For bare-floor cleaning, the brush roll shuts off. Emptying the dirt chamber is easy, and a filter inside the chamber may be brushed clean or washed. The brush roll can be cleaned easily, but if its belt wears out, it must be replaced by a professional. Power comes from long-life nickel-cadmium batteries that can also be replaced by a professional. The vacuum lies flat for cleaning under furniture, weighs less than 5 pounds, assembles with two screw-nut sets (included), stands 44-1/2 inches high, and carries a one-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Right for the Job (and a little more)
I purchased this vacuum to pick up the small stuff (e.g., cat hair, dirt from outside) in between thorough vacuuming sessions. I picked this one based on Consumer Reports' testing and ratings.

It does a good job of picking up the debris it was intended to pick up. And since I have hard wood floors, I appreciate the carpet and floor options -- it even picks up cat hair equally well on both. And it's so handy - I don't have to lug around the huge vacuum to pick up a small mess upstairs, I don't have to stoop to use the handvac, and it has a brush so it picks up hair much better than a handvac.

It sounds like one of the reviewers purchased this expecting it to be a full-fledged vacuum cleaner. It isn't, but I'm really surprised at how close it comes - especially for the price and the convenience. I even think it'd be an appropriate choice as the only vac for a small apartment with hardwood floors (I don't know if it'd be right for an apartment with wall-to-wall carpeting).

5-0 out of 5 stars I am in love!
I would never think of writing a review for a product, but this time I make an exception. This nifty little tool is the business! Light-weight, quiet, SO easy to use, and it picks up the dirt like nothing I've ever seen. Cat litter seems to be its specialty, and it's so quiet it doesn't even scare the cats. My folks have a DirtDevil broom vac that is good on bare floors, but this little Hoover does the job on carpets. Must be the beater brush. How a rechargable battery can have so much power I do not know, but I definitely recommend this product.

4-0 out of 5 stars Works well for limited uses
I bought this vacuum cleaner (two, actually) for one specific purpose, to clean up cat litter, and it does just that. I picked this model because it's cordless, has a long handle so I don't have to stoop, and has a wide nozzle so I don't have to sweep as much. The one real problem with this cleaner is that the nozzle is about two millimeters off the floor, so anything larger than that (like cat food) won't be picked up. If you try to raise it any, then the weak suction will fail to pick up anything at all.

This cleaner works better on carpet than on bare floor. I can pick up about 90% of what my normal cleaner can pick up, although I have to go slower with it. Overall, I'm pleased with this product, but it would be nice if I could also pick up cat food. That's why I gave it four instead of five stars.

5-0 out of 5 stars ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL
I cannot imagine why this vacuum is no longer available. I bought mine for $35 about four years ago. The charge lasts beyond a quick ?1000 sq ft area. I don't have to sweep or dust mop I just vacuum. It picks up everything. At about 700 sq ft I have to empty the dirt but the charge lasts longer. It's four years now so I am having a little problem with suction. I t probably needs a cleaning but a replacement @ $35 even $50 would be expected. I've certainly gotten my $$$ worth

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Vac
This has been the greatest little vacuum I have ever had. It picks up hair and even little rocks. Great for a quick pick up. Great on carpet , small throw rugs, and even bare floors! I can't say enough. I love it so much I plan to buy more for Christmas presents.

More powerful than a sweeper but less bulky than a full-scale upright, the 3.6-amp Hoover Quik-Broom tackles crumbs, dust, and lint with a handy, maneuverable design. It also has onboard tools for above-floor cleaning. Fitted with an 11-1/2-inch floor nozzle that can be set for bare surfaces or rugs, the Quik-Broom is lightweight and easy to use. Completely bagless, its roomy plastic dust container is transparent for monitoring. The container pops off easily when you need to empty it and uses a filter system to keep smaller particles inside. Hoover also includes an onboard hose and crevice tool for hard-to-reach spaces and narrow spots. Conversion to tool cleaning is quick--simply plug one end of the hose into a port on the back of the machine and it is ready to go. Other handy features include a stair-cleaning handle and a hanging hole in the grip. The unit has a 20-foot power cord and carries a one-year warranty. --Emily Bedard ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for...
When I first bought this vacuum, it worked pretty well, especially on hardwood and linoleum. On carpet, it did not pick up dog hair or fuzz but did seem to suck up dirt and other particles. As time wore on, however, this vacuum's suction power began to disappear. Now when I vacuum, I have to use the attachments (which actually work great) in order to pick up anything, even on hard surfaces. Last week, the handle broke in half, so I am now on the market for a new vacuum. While this vacuum is inexpensive, lightweight, and effective at first, don't count on using it for longer than 2 years.

4-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for small spaces and hard floors
I took my Quick Broom with me to college. Graduation is next week and I'm still using my Quick Broom. It's lightweight and stores away easily in my limited student-dwellings. The brush does need frequent cleaning, especially if you have long hair (which I do). Overall, it's great for quick cleanups and best for hard floors. ... Read more
