After my initial mini-inspection, I was off to the grandstand court, under the dining room table. Click--clank--vmmmvmmm-click-click--vmmm-click-vvvvmmm-vvvmmm-vvvmm, all clean. The one obvious pro is that the suction is awesome! It does a great job on carpets, use the hose for corners. As my old vac didn't have a hepa filter, I wasn't used to the smell (it doesn't stink or anything; kind of reminds me of a hosptial or doctor's office smell) All-in-all I give it an 'A'. Oh, one more thing, although the vaccum comes with extra bags, you don't have to immediately use one as 1 bag comes pre-installed (guess I should read the instructions :-)). Best of luck to those vacuum shoppers!
Meanwhile I've been using our older Eureka vacuum new enough to be the plastic type (6 or 8 years old?) and getting results far from good and needed multiple passes in some areas to get the carpets clean. Every time I see our daughter she thanks me again for the vacuum and raves about it and how their friends ask if they got new carpets. It is that good! Amazon had an even better deal than last summer and I finally decided to get one before they are discontinued and the price of the replacement for it goes up. Free shipping was estimated at a week or more but I got it IN 3 DAYS! It's hard to beat that though it's likely a result of being in California only a couple of hundred miles from the area of Nevada from where it was shipped. I've cleaned a couple of carpets with it and the kitchen vinyl floor. POSITIVES: NEGATIVES: BOTTOM LINE: *** I don't think you can go wrong with this vacuum.*** I'm hoping that after a few weeks of use I'll still be as enthusiastic about it as my daughter is. ... picks up my dog's medium and long hairs perfectly, picks up dust and dirt, wonderful and convenient to clean the small throw rugs. spot cleans the big area rugs. i don't use a regular size vacuum anymore excepting once a week to clean the two big area rugs, that's it! i don't understand why the lights on the charger don't work like they are supposed to but the battery does in fact recharge just fine. i would have preferred if it used bags but i suppose that would just cost me more money in the end, as i find myself emptying the dust cup after each complete house use anyway. did i say that i use this thing everyday? that is how easy and pleasant this tiny lightweight cordless vacuum is to use. and i simply hate to clean.

I was doing research on Electrolux vacuum as my Mom has used those before and doesn't want anything less. I was surprised and confused when I discovered that there are actually two Electrolux brand out there. One is Aerus Electrolux, Texas based (www.aerusonline.com), and the other is the US subsidiary of Electrolux, headquartered in Sweden (www.electrolux.com). I originally thought the Swedish maker (Volvo springs to mind) is the one that my Mom is familiar with, but turns out that Aerus Electrolux vacuum are actually the ones. Aerus Electrolux's top of the line Guardian 9000 carries a list price of over sixteen hundred, and retails realistically for about a thousand and is sold mostly through dealers. The Swedish Electrolux's top of the line Oxygen Ultra retails for five hundred and you can find it on Amazon. The Swedish maker also owns the Eureka brand (a respectable vacuum too). I ended up buying a Guardian 9000 from Aerus Electrolux for my Mom and she's been very happy with it for the past year. It is built like a tank, bullet-proof Lexan plastic, good suction, HEPA filter. And we know neighbors with earlier versions that lasted decades and still going. I noticed that some of the other reviewers who owned Electrolux before are disappointed with the Oxygen. Well, I guess they might have owned an Aerus Electrolux before, and did not know that Oxygen Ultra is actually made by a different company. Now, how can two companies own the same brand? Aerus Electrolux was founded in 1924 in US, the Swedish maker in 1919 (according to their respective web sites). I don't know when the Swedish maker started marketing in earnest in US, but Aerus might have lost a court battle somewhere, which would explain why the Guardian vacuum machines carry the LUX (R) trademark these days instead of Electrolux. Would I buy any vacuum machine for over a thousand? Probably not. But if you or someone in your family is in search of a perfect vacuum, the above might help.

Oddly, I did not find the noise to be a problem, and the attachments stayed in place without any vibrations. Here are my problems and disappointments with this vacuum: The cleaning path of the floor attachment is not full width, it measures approximately 3/4" by 3" in the middle of the attachment. I believe a Black and Decker DustBuster has a larger cleaning path. Therefore, this vacuum does not have suction for the edges of the carpet, or against furniture. You will have to remove the floor attachment and use the nozzle to pick up debris close to baseboards. Furthermore, it looks like in previous models the floor attachment locked onto the wand, and was released by pushing a button. On this model it does not lock onto the wand and comes off when I push the unit back and forth on a carpeted surface. As this is a canister vac, sometimes it might bang into an object as it trails behind. The door to the bag chamber opened on me as a result. The Mighty Mite would be fine if I had mostly barefloors with some small area rugs. Even better solution to this scenario though is the Dirt Devil Powerstick. The triangular floor attachment gets into corners and the suction is along the edges. The Powerstick is smaller and much more maneuverable.
If you live in an apartment, this is really all you need. The only thing you can't do well or quickly is thick rugs. To do those rugs well, you'll have to get a big, "real" machine that costs three times as much. I'm withholding one star on the Mighty Mite because the vacuum attachment that comes with the machine is basically just a clip-on, and not a real electrified, spinning carpet attachment. Some people have complained about the noise, but I think it's loud (of course! it's a vacuum!) but nothing at all to be concerned with. Be careful on the price. I got gouged. Don't pay more than $100 whether you buy online or in a store. It's a great product, but don't get (here comes a pun) suckered.
Finally, what lowers it from a two-star rating to a one-star rating: I haven't been able to find bags for this machine anywhere locally (I live in a large city, and K-Marts and Targets are close by too), nor does Amazon stock them. A real pain. This vacuum is a bust.

And I can not say enough good things about it. It doesn't fall over because the back wheels are huge, they move smoothly to follow you around. the cord is long. It is easy to switch from carpet to bare floor and it comes with a ton of attachments. It easily gets under dressers and into areas that you could never get an upright! You just pick up the hose and put it behind the furniture or lay it down and do under! You can easily do the couch cushions! I will NEVER go back to an upright. And with this one there are no bags!! The filter is easy to clean! It picks up everything on the first swipe and gets deeply into the thick, plush area rug in our family room! And with two toddlers and two dogs, there are a lot of spills and messes and it works great! I can do my whole house with this one very lightweight, compact, easy to store vaccuum! I LOVE IT!!!!!!
The power is good - strong enough to pick up evenly across the width of the floor tool while cutting a swath through dust, dirt, or cat litter. It does have trouble with larger objects - bits of kibble, in my case - but this seems down to the head design. If I take it off, the bare hose sucks up anything I've tried it on. The tools that come with the machine are not the best designs I've seen. The smooth surface tool has a nice, wide head, but has wheels on it that seemed more of a nuisance than any real use. Relatively soon (I've had it about a month now) one of the wheels fell off and could not be popped back on. That aside, the tool works OK without wheels (hardly any difference) and does not scratch the floor, so it's still usable. The machine also came with a very interesting-looking device for cleaning carpet, complete with a mechanism designed to spin a small brush. This worked for about five minutes, during which time it was quite effective on our berber rug. It then stopped working and I've been unable to make it work since. The internal workings seem more robust; it's done a great job handling a lot of pet hair, cat litter, bits of food, heavy dirt, etc. For its size and weight (pleasantly light) it has great power, and I find the filter no real bother to clean. Like any bagless, you do need to be prepared to handle some mess when emptying the dust cup, but it's usually enough just to stick it in a plastic grocery bag and dump the dirt into the bag. Lots cheaper than cleaner bags and handy as well. I'm happy with it and for the price, it's a nice buy.
It is confusing searching the net but when went to Eureka sites Will follow up once this model arrives

In summary, I would recommend this cleaner; it's relatively light and very easy to use, quiet, great looking, cleans very well and leaves no dust after using it.
Evidently Electrolux sold off the high quality vacuum cleaner portion of their business to a company called Aerus, they have a web site or you can buy a slightly different version of the Aerus 3000, still the high quality of past Electrolux's, on QVC called the "Ultralux by Electrolux" for $344.
My 3 cents worth,

When our old upright went ka-put, my husband who grew up with a canister insisted that we get one. I'm finding that canisters definitely have their advantages - It is much more versatile in its cleaning abilities than an upright, and makes cleaning under furniture and doing stairs easy. The vacuum has great suction while being very quiet, so that you can easily talk over it if you need to. The various attachments all work well for their respective applications. I especially love the powerhead, which to me was a must in considering a canister. It works wonderfully on our carpets. The bare floor attachment does equally well on the hardwood floors and other non-carpeted areas. The bags are a reasonable size so as not to require too frequent changing and are easy to change. (Bagless doesn't appeal to me - although I've never used one, it sounds messy.) My one complaint is that the bare floor attachment is difficult to remove; you need some small implement to depress the metal button in order to be able to slide it off. It's kind of a ridiculous problem to have with an otherwise well designed vacuum, and it is an inconvenience, but I can live with it. If I had it to do over again, I would choose it again.

It's great for small quick cleanups on carpet or cleaning bare floors. Make no mistake, this is not a replacement for a full-size, full-power vac. As a test I used this product on a section of heavy-traffic carpet that went two weeks without cleaning. It picked up the pet hair fairly well and filled it's dust cup. I then cleaned the same section with a new Bissel Cleanview Bagless upright (I've also written a review for the Bissel). The Bissel picked up enough pet hair, dust and dirt to fill the Eureka's dust cup several times. The dust cup on the Eureka is easy to remove but messy to empty and tapping it to remove the dust results in dust flying everywhere. Keeping in mind what it's designed for, I give the Eureka Boss Superbroom 4 stars. If you have lots of carpeting in your home, don't even consider this to be your primary vac. As a primary vac I would give it only one star.

Not only were my fears allayed, but I was actually impressed. I've had it for a couple of years and it is more than adequate to clean the carpet (with no heavy soiling, of course). I even use it to clean in between furniture, to suck up the dust bunnies in my computer, and even to clean my car. The cable length is ample, it comes with many useful accessories, and it is so easy to clean out the dust compartment. My only gripe is that it is extremely loud. If you live in an apartment, I definitely would advise not to use it after-hours.
The minor flaw is that it is quite noisy and its cord seems to be shorter than I would like. But definitely it is worth the money and it does its job.
I bought this little "baby" two months ago and I waited to review until I had used the machine a number of times. Having used several of the dustbusters over the years, I can compare. Yes, this Eureka has a cord--but it is a *very* long cord--so it is not limiting. It is a powerful vaccum which I do not find to be loud or high-pitched. It is for small jobs when lugging out the big machine is too much of a bother. I just used it to clean the lint from the back of the dryer, which is in a small confined space and it has always been difficult to get the big vaccum back there. This little Eureka did a fabulous job getting all the stuck-together lint both deep inside the back of the dryer and around it: the floors and walls too! The cup is easy to remove and clean, just rinse or spritz a little cleaner on it. It holds a surprising amount of "junk". Downside: storing the long cord. I still haven't figured out how to wrap it or quite what to do with it yet. The extension hose is a useful attachment but the plastic could be a slightly better grade. I bought this vac because the price was so low and decided to give it a try. I am very pleased that I did. ... Read more |
