Amazon.com Review

Designed for the tight corners of homes, automobiles, and RVs, the Shark handheld vacuum from Euro-Pro comes with cordless convenience and a range of uses. Rechargeable on the included base, the 9.6-volt vacuum has a slim structure, bagless design, and powerful suction--so powerful, in fact, that it is also louder than many other handhelds. Dirt collects in a dust cup that removes easily for emptying and includes a washable filter to trap tiny particles. The Shark's tapered shape ends in an oblong suction portal that measures 1-3/4 inches wide. The nozzle fits into fairly small spaces by itself, but for car seats and crannies, it comes with a narrow crevice tool. A motorized power brush is also included for agitating and grooming upholstery and car mats. Both tools attach snugly and easily and store on the charging base between uses. The base itself fits flush against a wall and powers up the vacuum in 16 to 20 hours. --Emily Bedard ... Read more

 • Measures 15-3/4 inches long and 4-1/4 inches wide
 • Includes detachable motorized power brush
 • Comes with convenient charging stand with accessory storage
 • Dust cup design eliminates need for bags
 • Recharges in 16-20 hours

5-0 out of 5 stars great little machine
Pretty impressive cordless vac. Have had several through the years and this is by far the best. The suction is great for cleaning up the small messes we make. We use the small crevice tool a lot for corners and edges. Haven't used the other attachment, so have no comment on that. So far, we highly recommend it. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
I bought this two months ago and I found this very unreliable. It picks up dirt when it works but it rarelly works for 10 min together without stopping suddenly. You will never know when it will stop due to overheating. Don't waste extra money in buying this bagless machine as it is also a pain to clean the dust after work. (when it works)

1-0 out of 5 stars it blows
I thought if i spent more on a vacuum cleaner, it would work better, well, not with this one!!!! Instead of sucking up dirt, it blows it everywhere, then when it's done blowing things all over the place, it shuts itself off, then I have to let it "cool off" for 45 minutes before i can continue vacuuming. It's horrible, I wouldn't recommend this vacuum cleaner to anyone!!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars HORRIBLE
Recieved as christmas gift, only a month after use we've burned up multiple bands. works well, when it works, not that it ever does!!!! Do not buy!!!!!!!!! Didnt want to even give it one star!!!!!!!!!!!

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
I really liked it when I first bought it. It has a cool look. However, just now, I was frightened by it since it suddenly shut off after I have vacummed for 7 min....!I've bought it for 3 months only... please don't die..... I kept pushing the button and it's not working!!!! I read the 1st review here and the person said there's an overheating problem. I didn't know that .... and now I'm pushing the button.... it's on again! Genrally, it's good but please bear the sudden nshut off whenever. you'll never know when it's gonna shut off...!!! Surprise!

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this!
It's horrible; can't clean; very dirty; and a waste of money! I'm checking other reviews as I type to buy another vaccuum. This one's going in the trash. I have two dogs and it shuts off every 10 minutes of vaccuuming from overheating. I can actually see the dirt flying everywhere but into the vaccuum. Don't waste your money or your time shopping for this. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

This deep fryer handles every food from french fries to doughnuts while eliminating the mess that comes with stovetop frying. Constructed of heavy-duty stainless steel, the fryer has an extra-large 5-liter capacity so it can handle family-sized portions of fried chicken or falafel. A power switch and a thermostat that goes up to 375 degrees F are the only controls on the unit, making it simple to master. The professional 1,700-watt stainless-steel heating element is immersed in the oil so it can maintain high temperatures when food is placed into the fryer. The fryer’s thermostat coil is also immersed in oil so reducing the heat on the fryer’s thermostat produces an instant drop in the oil’s temperature. These dual thermostats make frying faster and safer since temperature controls are more reliable.

Other perks on this deep fryer include a lid with a viewing window to watch your food cook, a filter that absorbs oil and prevents it from splattering all over the kitchen, and a cord storage compartment for the detachable power cord. For added convenience, the filter, oil container, and frying basket with handle can all be cleaned in the dishwasher. Euro-Pro offers a one-year limited warranty on this deep fryer. --Cristina Vaamonde ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Truly Great Value and a Great Fryer
I waited several weeks for this fryer to show up on my doorstop. In the meantime, I had to contend with managing my excitement with every Emeril live show. Have you watched Emeril? If so, you know that he uses a great looking fryer that is built into the countertop. It looks hot judging by the speed at which it cooks, and the great looking food that comes out of it. Anyway, I wanted to be able to do the same thing without the inconsistency and waste of using a pot or deep frying pan.

So, the Euro-Pro shows up today and gets an immediate wash and dry. I opened a fresh gallon of corn oil and dump it in; set the thermostat to 370 F, and while it heats quickly mix a New Orleans beignet batter (ok, I cheated and used the Cafe du Monde mix).

Since I'd never prepared this dough before, I wasn't sure about the consistency. I simply followed the un, deux, trois, instructions. After cutting squares out of the dough I dumped them into my fryer. Ten seconds later they were floating at the top waiting to be turned over. In about 90 seconds I lifted the basket out of the oil and hung it on the provided basket hook to drain. It seemed to me that not much oil needed to drip off so I transferred the hot beignet to a plate and sprinkled sugar over them.

Here's the proof: They were perfect! Truly. No oil saturation of the dough at all. Puffy, light, golden brown and cooked all the way through. In fact, it was hard to tell they'd even been in oil at all!

This fryer rocks! Don't waste your money on this tiny little plastic fryers. This is the real deal: Stainless steel, beautiful to look at and 100% professional in operation. Dual safety thermostats, truly consistent temperature and with its large and deep basket, there is plenty of room to cook 3 or 4 good sized pieces of chicken or 1.5lbs of potatoes for fries.

Clean-up is a cinch because it all comes apart (you can put it all in the dish washer including the filter).

My opinion is this: Its first rate quality, it looks great, and it works like a charm. Five Stars from me.

1-0 out of 5 stars FRYER JUNK
I USED THE FRYER 3 TIMES. I CALLED: WAS TOLD TO PUSH THE RESET BUTTON. IT DID NOT WORK. CALLED BACK TRYING TO GET MY MONEY BACK
TALKED TO SOMEONE WHO COULD NOT SPEAK ENGLISH. I SENT IT BACK
INSURED, 1ST CLASS FOR $18.05 WITH A $14.95 CHECK FOR RETURN POSTAGE. CALLED HSN TOLD THEM, THEY SENT ME A SERVICE CONTRACT
I BOUGHT. (DIDN'T REMEMBER) SAYING POSTAGE WAS PAID BOTH WAYS
AND REPAIRS. NOW I'M TRYING TO GET MY $33.00 BACK.
I WILL NEVER BUY EURO-PRO JUNK AGAIN. JHH

1-0 out of 5 stars Product never worked - and customer service STINKS!
I received the fryer, and immediately invited friends over for a "fry fest". The oil heated up, I placed food in and within 20 minutes, the oil was no longer hot. The control panel was lit, but the oil did not maintain the temperature and did not heat up. RUINED FOOD!! So instead of returning it, I called Euro Pro - they promised to send me a new control panel immediately. 8 weeks later I received it. The control panel was not the same one that was originally in the fryer, and the magnetic break away cord did not fit on the "new" unit sent. So I called back, and was promised the new cord would be shipped within 48 hours. I still do not have the cord (it is STILL on its way - 2 1/2 weeks later). The woman at Euro Pro was very rude to me, and refused to refund my money if I were to return it. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!! I HAVE BEEN WAITING 3 MONTHS FOR THIS FRYER TO BE USED!

3-0 out of 5 stars Electronics Failure
The Euro-Pro fried excellently and the electronic panel was very easy to use. But after 3 months, the electronic panel failed and it rendered the fryer useless.

1-0 out of 5 stars Very Short Lived
Unlike the reviewer from Lexington NC (Short Lived, July 9, 2003), the fryer I received did not take six months for the circuit breaker to start popping. It started with the very first use and did it again on each of the next two uses. Fortunately for me it was within the first week after receiving the unit and I returned it. ... Read more

Stealth is right—this small canister vacuum slips in under the radar screen and powerfully sucks up dirt and debris with 1300 watts of cyclonic action. Large particles don’t stand a chance against the air-driven turbo floor and carpet brushes, while the washable HEPA filter traps 99.97 percent of any allergens that try to sneak by. A bagless design means the plastic dust cup with handle removes easily and the bottom releases for emptying into a trash can. Automatic cord rewinding, on-board tool storage, and large wheels make this European-style vacuum even more pleasurable to use. --Ann Bieri ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Finally a good lightweight canister
I am glad that I bought the Shark Stealth canister which ended my canister vacuum research. I bought two other lightweight canisters (Bissell and Sanyo) recently and had to return them due to the malfunctioned parts and lack of suction/no suction power. Here are the pros and cons of Shark Stealth:

Pros:
- Comes with turbo brush which helps pick up dust underneath the carpet and pet hair.
- Best suction among many canisters that I've tried.
- Light weight and easy to maneuver. The main unit basically follows me everywhere I vacuum without much pulling, a very amazing design compared with other canisters.
- Perfect brush size and rotating connector which allow me to vacuum underneath the bed and around almost all my furniture without having to move them.
- Easy to empty dust cup
- Retractable cord and on board attachments
- Easy to assemble (took just a minute from the time I opened the box to the time I started vacuuming)

Cons:
- Cord is a bit short
- HEPA filter requires some effort to clean. (I used the attachment on my upright Hoover with bag to suck up the dust in the HEPA filter.)

5-0 out of 5 stars Greate vacuum in its price range
When it case to buying a vacuum cleaner, I was looking only for canister. This is partly influenced by my european background and by the fact that I live a small apartment. Looking for canister in US is a challenge, considering absolute domination of uprights; lookin for good canister is even harder.

I bought this vac after trying DirtDevil vacuum with HEPA filter, which was a big dissapointment, both in suction and absence of good carpet brush.

This vacuum picked up lots of dirt after DirtDevil! I was quite surprised. I don't know yet how this fellow will behave on maintanability front, but so far I consider this as a great buy!

As to troubles with cleaning HEPA filters: well, you have to pay the price for having a clear air! You will need to clean filter by "tapping" it after each use and also you will need to rinse all three filters roughtly once a month or two or when experience rediced suction power. Also you will probably need to carefully clean spinning brush from hairs after each use, but I'm sure this is true for all turbo/power brushes.

Pros: moderate price, turbo brush, terractable cable, very good suction, HEPA filtering, still handle, compact design.

Cons: you will need to change brushes going from a carpet to a bare floor, handle may be a bit short for really tall people (probably above 6 feet).

In short - I would absolutely recommend this vacuum for small-mid-sized appartments.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't buy from this company
I own this vacuum, but I haven't been able to use it for 8 months. The hose melted after it was placed next to a steam pipe (never a problem with Eureka Mighty-Mites) and I have been trying to get a replacement hose from Euro-Pro ever since. Their fulfillment company cannot help: they can only ship when the manufacturer provides them with inventory. I have 9 postcards stating that the item will be shipped in 3-4 weeks. This was my first purchase of a Euro-Pro product and I will never buy another.

WHERE CAN YOU GET BELTS FOR THE EURO-PRO X SHARK ROADSTER-MODEL EP-722?
KATHY SMITH

4-0 out of 5 stars Find the one with the motorized power head!!! EP724M
After waking up another morning barely able to breathe (welcome to Texas!), I got a little obsessive and decided it was time for a new vacuum. After reading hundreds of online reviews, I decided my top 3 choices were... the Dyson Animal (2 cats) the Westinghouse 1551 (the original Fantom), and the Shark Pursuit. I eliminated the Dyson based on price and looked everywhere for the westinghouse... unfortunately I couldn't find any retailers who carried the product. I didn't want to order online because I wanted to be able to return the product if I didn't like it. so that left the Pursuit. Let me clarify...as far as I can tell, the Pursuit and the Stealth are the same product. I brought my little canister home and started on the living room... I had to empty the canister at least 3 times! I was soooo pleased! :) The amount of hair I picked up was literally disgusting. But I was also encouraged and couldn't stop sucking up cat hair! It actually brought back the bright navy color in my fiance's couch! We had been talking about having it reupholstered but now it looks so much better I think we can put it off for a while... And I'm SURE we picked up hair from the previous owners' two dogs... we have been here 2 years. (!!!) I was disappointed, however, in how it worked on the floors... I wasn't altogether pleased with the floor tools. So I brought home the Pursuit upright and the Ultimate Roadster upright... both were great for the floors, but I couldn't get under the furniture and when I tried to clean the upholstery the hoses would contract and pull the main unit up against me. I guess it shows how great the suction is, but it's NOT exactly easy to use this way. SOOO... after even more searching, I found the greatest thing!!! Linen's and Things www.LNT.com carries this product in their stores and online for $129.. WITH a MOTORIZED power head!!! it's GREAT!!! well worth the extra $30!!! NOW the floors get REALLY clean, and I can suck all the junk out of the upholstery too! YAY!!! So, here are the specifics for the model I'm keeping-- The Shark Pursuit canister, model number EP724M... The main unit is 10.3 amps and the power head (the floor brush) is 1.7 amps... still a total of 12 amps for cleaning the floors, slightly less for the above floor stuff, but I can't really tell the difference, and it's probably a good thing considering the suction power.

pros: -Cleans great! good little sucker, especially for the price!

-easy to maneuver

-my house smelled much fresher after using it, so I guess the HEPA filter is doing it's job....

-FABULOUS for cleaning upholstery, etc... I even sucked cat hair off the curtains (be careful!)

-the air powered turbobrush did get clogged alot, but since I bought the motorized powerhead I don't have to worry about that.

Cons-- I agree with everyone else, the filter is very difficult to clean... the dispenser somehow traps all the hair around the filter, so you have to reach in and pull everything out. I'm considering trying a few things, like waxing the inside of the canister, etc... to see if I can't get this resolved. I also plan on buying a second hepa filter at the suggestion of another reviewer and switching out so I'll always have a clean one. I also have been vacuuming the filter with my old hoover upright and that seems to help alot, too. PLUS, my upright uses hepa bags so the mites and yuck stay where they belong. (this vac was good for sucking dust, but not much else)

The cord is quite short, but I have lots of outlets so it's not a huge problem for me.

Doesn't come with the little pet hair turbobrush, but I found them to be incredibly noisy-painful even- I'm going to order one from another company (about $30)to see if theirs works better.

Somewhat inconsistent product quality-- I recommend buying local and if you have a problem with one exchange it for another one before you give up entirely. of the four I tried, one smelled funny when I turned it on... If I had decided on that one, I would have exchanged it.

OH! by the way... I started this project on Sunday, and Monday morning woke up much less congested..(even though we have a HEPA air purifier in the bedroom) Tuesday morning even better... looks like it's working! I think I'm going to vacuum the mattress again..... ;) byebye dust mites!!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars AWESOME
This is a great iron! We bought it at Target. It steams really, really good. We have had a Rowenta that has leaked since day one and Sams Club won't take it back.
This has alot of holes in the bottom that allows the steam to get a larger area.
It has a directional sprayer that actually works too.
This is a great iron!

5-0 out of 5 stars Does What It Says It Will!!!!
Having used just about an iron from every manufacturer over the past 60 + years I have finally found the best. This iron does exactly what it says it will - from the continuous steam to the once over does it. It takes a while to prepare the iron for use but this time is worth the finished results. Linen and silk are two of my favorite fabrics and both turn out beautifully. I just bought this iron this morning after comparsison shopping on the net and came home to do a trial run. I had to write a review when I was so pleased with my purchase. It was also one sale at Target when I went in today which was icing on the cake!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Pathetic
I also purchased this iron without reading the single star reviews. My experience with this iron was a virtual fire hazard. One regular old day, I began to use this iron and as it was heating up it just didn't stop and began smoking, sizzling, popping, and even melting its base. I contacted the company and they wanted me to pay both shipping to and shipping from the repair department, and wait 4-6 weeks "under good cercumstances". AND THAT IS BEFORE THEY DETERMINE IF THEY WILL REPLACE OR REPAIR THE IRON!!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Melty-gooey stuff from the iron
I've had this iron for less than 3 months and it oozes this reddish, gooey stuff when I iron. I have tried cleaning it and it keeps coming back. It's not starch or my water. I am very disappointed at this iron.

1-0 out of 5 stars HAVE A BACK UP!
After purchasing this iron, I thought to my surprise that I had finally found an iron that would actually do the job. However after 6 months, this iron just stops working. The heating element just goes dead. Turns on fine but of course nothing. NOT worth the money!!! I've had Rowentas that do not live up to the super reputation that they are supposed to have either. Sharks are junk.... ... Read more

This Euro-Pro Shark bagless vacuum is a lightweight canister model designed for regular cleaning and quick pick-ups. Suitable for most surfaces, the 1300-watt machine comes with a simple suction nozzle for hard floors and an air-driven turbo nozzle with agitator bristles for carpet. For upholstery, draperies, and ceilings, the Shark canister features a shoulder strap that eliminates awkward dragging. Dirt collects in a large, transparent dust cup that removes from the machine for emptying. An internal HEPA filter traps 99.97 percent of dust, pollen, and mold spores, and can be tapped or rinsed clean for regular maintenance. The vacuum’s chrome handle telescopes for height adjustment, and the flexible hose is ready to use with the included crevice tool and upholstery brush. Sizable wheels, chunky buttons, and automatic cord retraction make for nice features. Though not as heavy-duty or capacious as other canister models on the market, the Shark is a good match for anyone who likes a light vacuum, has hardwoods or low-pile carpets, and suffers from airborne allergens. --Emily Bedard ... I selected this vacuum not even seeing a picture on the website, but it had the features I wanted and the price was right. When I received it, I was surprised at how light the box was. It's a nice, compact canister that moves around easily due to it's light weight and small size. You can even use the included strap to carry it on your shoulder. It does an excellent job on my hardwood floors and berber carpets! I love that it's bagless. The instructions say to tap the filter on the side of the trash can to get all the dust out, but i recommend doing this outside or all the dust will be airborn in the house. The HEPA filter is great, especially since I think my old vac blew as much dust into the air as it was taking in! Didn't sneeze once, which would've been typical before!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great performance for the money
I have owned this vacuum cleaner for about two months now. I live in a 1 bedroom apt (~600 sq ft). about half of our floors are loop berber and the other half are hardwood. The vacuum works well on both floor types. It has great suction power and is easy to use (i.e. haul around, turn, pull, push etc). It comes with a bare floor and a "self propelled" carpet brush attachment which work adequately. The vacuum is neatly designed. Futuristic looking almost, and the silver plastic and blue look very industrial and modern to me.

Details:
The top of the vacuum cleaner lifts to reveal the dust collection canister, and two small attachments for upholstery and for corners/hard to reach places. The small attachments are somewhat difficult to use since they are very small and do not cover a large enough area of the upholstery or furniture you are cleaning... this has not been a problem for me thus far since all the cloth covered surfaces in my house are washable. I estimate with practice you could meticulously vacuum a whole couch in about 20 minutes (???).

The filters are the only part of the vacuum cleaner that are both a blessing and a curse. They are HEPA filters which is great for allergy sufferers (like myself). There are three filters, which WILL get clogged relatively soon depending on your conditions. When we were doing some repairs in a wall collecting the drywall dust clogged the vacuum cleaner in one day, but this is not what it was designed for anyway. Tapping the filters can be annoying as small dust specs inevitably escape. Washing them is very easy. I reccomend buying an extra set of filters which you can wash and have ready while the others are in use... you can then just switch and replace. Nothing is more annoying than finding out your vacuum cleaner has no power when you have mustered teh will power to clean.

All in all a great buy at this price. From other products I have seen it should be pretty durable.

2-0 out of 5 stars Filter nightmare
Well so much for a vacuum with a lot of power, it does not have any if you do not clean the filter every time you vacuum four room house and no power of suction on carpet if you do thoses at last. Well not a good buy to my taste and by the way I am still looking for replacement filters....

1-0 out of 5 stars Get down on your knees and pray if you buy any Euro-Pro prod
Because the quality of their products are next-to-nothing. And heaven forbid you should want any customer service once your product has broken down! My Euro-pro cannister vac died after 4 years, and there is NO info on it on their site, their India call-center is entirely unhelpful and clueless, and no one ever answers the phone or returns a call from corporate HQ. They don't know the meaning of "customer service"! Stay away from Fantom products too, which have gone downhill since Euro-Pro/Shark bought them.

1-0 out of 5 stars Maybe In Euros it is a Pro- a Dog in Dollars
Did not appear at all sturdy right out of the box- I should have sent it back right away - cheaply made -good only for edge work w/o the head on the wand. With wand on, low suction. I pick stuff up more efficiently by hand. Tough to carry around - tougher to use as drag around canister floor unit. I really hate the thing. Sad waste of $99 . This thing is a real dog no matter what you see on TV demos or what anyone else says. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Glad I didn't by the Dyson!
After the death of yet another popular-model, moderately priced vacuum, I decided I would buy a Dyson or Electrolux bidding on eBay. I was prepared to pay up to $300, but even at this price, the competition was very stiff, since they retail at close to $500. I figured it might take weeks or even a couple of months to get it for under $300, but I was going to have my Dyson or Electrolux. In the meantime, I happened to see the Shark Roadster Bagless Canister while shopping at Target. I was attracted to the features listed on the box, especially the 1 1/2 times the sucking power of an upright, the true HEPA filter and the fact that it was bagless (not that I thought I should simply trust everything the box says). I also saw the Dyson there, how heavy and large it was by comparison. On impulse, I decided to save a few hundred bucks and give another relatively inexpensive vacuum a shot. I read the manual cover to cover, which took a big ten minutes. I put everything together, and after patiently figuring out the little tricks in handling the little powerhouse, I fell in love with my new Shark. The main thing is to READ THE MANUAL. Also, the hose is soft, lightweight and plyable, so it kinks up easily if you're not paying attention. It gets loud and stops sucking, so you can tell right away if it kinks. Just quickly reposition the hose and you're back to easy, powerful vacuuming! This AIN'T a $500 vacuum, guys, so keep the brushes, filters and canister clean and handle it properly if you want to get the most out of it! Wait - that's what you have to do with the expensive models, too, isn't it?

1-0 out of 5 stars Replacment parts
I bought this vacuum about l year ago. The Air Driven Turbo Brush got so clogged that I had to buy a new one. TRY TO BUY A NEW ONE ONLINE, ITS A JOKE!!! I ORDERED THIS PART IN MAY. ITS NOW NOVEMBER!!!! I CALL, THEY SAY IT'S COMING, I GET POST CARDS IN THE MAIL SAYING IT'S COMING.
WHERE THE HECK IS IT COMING FROM?????
I AM SO FRUSTRATED. IT'S KILLING ME, BUT I HAVE TO NOW GO OUT AND BUY A NEW VACUUM.

3-0 out of 5 stars Spare Parts
I have had this vacuum for just about a year. I don't think it is that great on carpets. You have to go over it a couple of times before it actually picks it up. I take care of the filters like you are supposed to. I accidentally threw away the debris screen that goes over the hepa filter. I have tried to get one from Euro-Pro. I have no idea how they are still in business. I placed the order in August it is now the end of October and they still have not sent me the right part. I have called and complained everyone I have talked to says they know what part I need and they will send out the correct part. They have not done that yet. It is very difficult to get spare parts for this vacuum. I have looked online to see if I can purchase the screen from somewhere else and I have not found a place. Repair shops don't even deal with this kind of vacuum. They tell me that they are made to throw away. I don't know about you but this price is alot of money for me to be just throwing away because you can't get the maintenance parts for this vacuum.

2-0 out of 5 stars Worked great for the first year...
I had a Shark roadster Vacuum and it worked great for the first year of owning it. This fall, it was just about 1 year to the exact date of purchase, my Shark Roadster quit working. I am now left with a vacuum that won't even turn on. The only thing I can do is throw it away and buy new because it was purchased from Target more than 90 days ago and I no longer have the receipt. From my experience, the Shark Roadster is not dependable. I hope your experience is better...

5-0 out of 5 stars clean filter=great suction
Wow, I love this little vacuum. My house is 1800 sq. ft. of wood floors w/ the occasional rug. This is why after much research I chose a canister vac. I completely agree w/ the prev. reviewer who suggested to the people w/ bad experiences, like 5 minutes till overheat, PLEASE READ AND FOLLOW THE MANUFACTURERS DIRECTIONS!!! I have had this vac for 4 months now and it still has the suction it did the day I bought it. My secret? I READ AND FOLLOWED THE MANUFACTURERS DIRECTIONS!I tap out the filter w/ every emptying and rinse the filter occasionally(letting it dry for at least 24 hrs before reinstalling and using the vac). It really angers me that the people who can't read directions are trying to butcher this companys reputation. I have found that anything I own needs some sort of maintenance, anyone who does'nt realize that will end up with piles of useless things that no longer work. ... Read more

Though cyclonic suction is usually the domain of upright vacuums, Euro-Pro has harnessed the technology for this heavy-duty handheld Shark. Though no slim little model, the vacuum is compact and lightweight with powerful direct suction and a motorized brush roll. These features make it suitable for dry pickups on bare floors as well as deep cleaning on plush carpets. Whatever the task, the cyclonic system at the rear of the appliance spins dirt and debris to keep suction strong and to simplify filtration. An onboard stretch hose increases the vacuum's applications and includes a built-in dusting brush for delicate surfaces. Euro-Pro also equips the vacuum with a tap-clean, rinseable HEPA filter for trapping particulates and allergens to keep the atmosphere cleaner and more healthful. Reasonably comfortable in use, the vacuum includes an ergonomically designed handle and a 15-foot power cord. --Emily Bedard ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars It's a KEEPER !
I bought this machine a few weeks ago and while waiting for it to arrive read several poor reviews of similar Euro-Pro machines. I expected the worst. I was ready to throw it back before it arrived. When it did arrive it was small, lightweight and the instruction book looked barely adequate. I decided to send it back. I gathered up all the packing materials and because I live in a new place and don't know where things like UPS drop offs are located I waited a couple of days to ship it. And then one night, I got curious, I threaded her up and got her sewing. While it's not the solid machine I grew up with, it's not bad. It's growing on me. It seems to be a good basic machine. Not a lot of fancy stitches, but then how many times did I actually use any of those fancy things that seemed so appealing to my Mom when she selected her machine? I've decided this little machine is a worthwhile investment. It's portable and it works. It does what it says it will do. I'm keeping it!!! Take all those negative words with a grain of salt when you read them, folks are always quicker to complain than to offer praise. This one is a keeper :)

4-0 out of 5 stars A welcome replacement
The bobbin-winder mechanism on our 22-year old Singer sewing machine broke so the Singer is now headed to the trash dump and we have a new Euro-Pro 420 as replacement. I just used the EuroPro on 6 layers of denim, a task I would not give to the 22-year old Singer. The Euro-Pro is more portable since it is lighter and has a built-in carrying handle. Both machines are capable of several stitch functions and sews straight, zigzag, buttons, mends, darns. This EuroPro 420 and the old Singer did not have a feature for automatic threading. This EuroPro420 does not have settings for stretch-fabric, a setting which the old Singer had. (The last time I used the stretch-fabric option was ten-some years ago, so I don't miss it.)

The EuroPro420 also has the twin-needle feature which the old Singer does not support ( I doubt I'll be using this feature.) The old Singer did not have the free-arm option. This Europro420 converts to a free arm; a very welcome feature for the ease in sewing tight areas such as sleeves or pant-legs. The piece that is removed to create the free arm has a convenient storage area for all the included attachments (bobbins, seam ripper, extra feet/attachments for buttonholes, quilting, hemming, etc. ).

My first try at this EuroPro420 resulted in terrycloth/"bird's nest" on the underside. A quick review of the manual (bilingual -- English/Spanish) pointed to an error in installing the bobbin. So to be noted : reading the manual (and keeping it handy for referencing) is always useful.

All in all, this EuroPro 420 is a big improvement on the old sewing machine that it replaced. ... Read more

This compact, portable sewing machine is great for apartmentsor small homes without space for a dedicated sewing area. It's alsoconducive to tailoring on the move, whether it's doing a last-minutealteration on a wedding dress at the church or patching a tent at a carcamping site, as it can alternately run on four AA batteries instead ofits included adaptor. Geared for beginning sewers, the machine comesalready threaded and ready to use, plus includes step-by-stepinstructions on how to set it up and perform basic tasks. TheDressmaker has great stitch control and is able to sew through thickermaterials, such as denim or canvas, or handle delicate fabrics, such assilks, without tearing them. An easy-to-use push-button control panelturns the power and light on or off and sets the speed of the needle. In addition, the bobbin drops in horizontally, making it easy forfirst-time sewers to insert. Durable metal gears are designed to keepyour machine working for years to come. The Dressmaker comes with ahandy foot pedal and a 100-piece sewing kit with everything necessaryto begin. The kit includes ten 50-meter spool threads and 32 threadedbobbins of varying colors, 30 needles, 12 assorted buttons, 10 headpins, a thimble, a threader, a pair of scissors, a measuring tape, anda seam ripper packed in a plastic storage bag. Because of its size, this machine better serves sewers interested in performing basicmending tasks--repairing seams, hemming, and reattaching buttons--asits arm is rather small for large-scale projects. 5-0 out of 5 stars Despite Cruel Commentary - It's a good little machine
Prior to the purchase of this machine I had only performed "hand-sewing." I am a crocheter/knitter and I generally add linings and other things to my pieces that require fabric. I had purchased a "handy-stitch" to help with my ventures - but it was very hard to control. I found the "dressmaker" on sale and picked it up about a week ago and I have been completely pleased. Everything was packaged neatly and despite other reviews to the contrary - the thread is actually not all that bad. Plus, you get every color under the sun. I mean, lets get real... you're paying about thirty bucks for a sewing machine and your complaining that it doesn't stitch like an $800 machine? Come on, people. You get what you pay for. But, in respect to the product at hand... I think, perhaps, you get a bit more than you pay for. It is a sleak machine - compact - easy to use - and this is the opinion of an amature sewer. I have not regreted my purchase for a second. I thank the manufacturers of this product, in my opinion, they have done a fine job. If you're looking for an inexpensive sewing machine to learn on or use intermitently - by the Euro-pro Dressmaker. It's a winner!

1-0 out of 5 stars Junk- Hard to use, never worked
I bought mine about 6 months ago and I still can't get it to work. I could never get the bottom bobin to thread. My gf who is a seamstress couldn't get it to work either, so I know I'm not just being a dope. The instructions are vague and unhelpfull and I'm pretty sure several pieces that are needed for it to work were missing.

They say you get what you paid for, but considering this never worked at all, I say your not this time.

5-0 out of 5 stars BEAUTIFUL
YES, THIS IS A VERY NICE ITEM.I AM BUYING THIS ON SATURDAY KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Short and Sweet
I am not a pro, nor an amateur, but I found this little machine very, very helpful and worth the money for small odd jobs. I have already put a hem on a quilt that I have been wanting to finish for five years (but was too lazy to sew it by hand) and it did a great job! It stiched through three layers of fabric with no problem. My next project is curtains and, so far, I am very pleased with my purchase. I do not have the room to store a larger machine and I do not have the ambition to sew anything requiring anything more than what this great little machine offers. The only thing that I do not like about it is that it slides sometimes, since it is so small and lightweight, that you have to hold it with one hand and guide the fabric with the other. I am sure there is a way to remedy the problem, I just haven't figured it out yet. It was worth the thirty dollars and I would buy another one, if I had to, in a heartbeat. It is not fancy, you get what you pay for, but if you just want a little machine to hem things up, make pillow cases, curtains and other odds and end jobs, this machine is for you.

1-0 out of 5 stars No way
Dressmaker, huh? Don't even try to make a dress with this thing. I sewed a whoppin' 6 inches with it, 5 of which had to be ripped out. The needle gets stuck and a wad of thread under the bobbin cover must be cut free to get the it out and start the process over. The underside of the fabric will also have a ton of excess thread, hence why I ended up with 1 inch of halfway decent stitches out of 6. I don't wish this frustration on anyone. I'm not even going to donate this to a thrift store, I'm throwing it out. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Gets the Dog Hair!
I bought this vacuum today--came with a free handheld. The handheld is tiny compared to others out there and just as (if not more) powerful. The upright: I did the kitchen floor and the bedroom (carpet). Initially I said it's a vacuum; it did what it should but I have a dog and much of fur had accumulated under the bed (clumped around the footposts); last week I had used my old vacuum (which went kaput when a dog toy got stuck in but that's a different story) and it could not make a dent in the accumulated dog fur. The shark picked it up like it was nothing. So as of now, I'm impressed. It's also very light and easy to maneuver and the headlight is brighter than others I've used.

1-0 out of 5 stars Another c leaner
I bought this vacuum Dec.03 used it once and the handle broke took it back to Target and they kindly replaced it. Haven't used it again since Jan.04 since my roomate has a very good vacuum.Well as soon as I try to use it the unit shuts down after only a couple of minutes of use. If I let it sit for an hour or so it will give a couple of minutes of service again. It is by far the most frustrating piece of junk I have ever purchased. I just wish I had the forsight to get a differnt one when the handle broke in Jan. Even though it has only been used a couple of times I have owned to long to take back. I would never recomend or buy anything made by this company again!

1-0 out of 5 stars This vac really sucks
This is the worst vac I have ever owned. I have had the Shark for 2 week it just stops working every 5-10 minutes and then you have to wait for 1 hour to start again. The suction is not what's advertised I have to vacuum the same area 2-3 time before it clean. I switched from a Hoover cyclone bagless...I have learned my lesson and am buying another Hoover.

1-0 out of 5 stars The Worst!
I bought this vacuum recently at Best Buy because I saw the advertisements on TV that made it seem great. It turned out to be opposite of the commercials. This vacuum is poorly built and appears to be fragile, not made to last. When the agitator is turned on, it makes a very loud sound that over powers the sound of the vacuum motor itself. Within minutes of the 1st use, it began to make a strong burning plastic smell. I returned it within 24 hours of purchase and bought a Eureka 4885 which is far superior. Overall, this Euro-Pro is not even worth twenty bucks. Vacuums that cost $60 will easily out perform this vacuum. Stay away from it unless you want to deal with the hassle of returning it. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great Product!!
This product is exactly like the professional steamers used in department stores! It works great and takes only seconds to get the wrinkles out of clothes. It eliminates the need for unsightly ironing boards and scorched clothing from old-fashioned irons. It's all in reading the directions and keeping the container filled.
