Amazon.com Review The grill can be placed either directly on a tabletop or atop its pedestal. On its own, the grill surface stands about 6 inches high; with the pedestal, it stands about 2-1/2 feet high, not counting the domed lid. The pedestal is plenty sturdy for cooking, but the grill still seems a bit top-heavy, so pay special attention if grilling in a high-traffic area or near kids. Because of the easy electric heat, this grill can be used outdoors or indoors--when using it indoors, though, be prepared for potential spattering, steam, or other side effects of cooking. --Cynthia Nims Features Reviews (47)

Amazon.com Review Meats and fish are the obvious choices to take advantage of the Grilling Machine's fat-reduced grilling, but vegetables and tofu dogs work well too. The double-sided grill means food cooks twice as fast, leaves attractive grill marks, and generates surprisingly little smoke. --Julija Gelazis Features Reviews (353)
I'm out of college now, and I bought the bigger version of the George Foreman grill! It's GREAT about cutting the fat, as most of the grease drains off in to an easy to clean plastic container. The plastic container can go in the dishwasher, and the grill itself has a really good nonstick surface which cleans easily with a damp sponge or rag. It also cooks pretty fast, quicker than a conventional grill I think. I cook a few chicken breasts on it in about 10-15 minutes (depending on how big they are), and it heats up super fast - so no worrying about charcoal and starting fires! It's insanely easy to use, teenagers and slightly younger kids could probably use it with no problem. I highly recommend this grill - it's worth every cent!

The cooker comes with a removable insert which I used most of the time so the meat can roast in it's own juices. It also makes it easier to collect the juice for gravy, just make sure to use pot holders. The only cons I have are: 1. The insert tray handles stick out of the sides of the cooker. It gets hot and can burn you if you're not paying attention. Plus, an unknowing person may accidently try to pick up the cooker thinking their handles for the cooker itself. It can be a potentially very dangerous situation when the cooker is being used. 2. You don't have a choice to the heat settings. Heck, it took me a while to find out what the cooker's heat setting was. It's a permanent 325. But, since you're cooking using all sides of the cooker, the temperature is quite practical for all meats. 3. The cooking cavity is not as big as I would like it to be. It's fine for anything less than 5 lbs and not overly large. Great for family meals of 4 or less - but don't expect to fit a pork shoulder roast or Thanksgiving turkey. It also doesn't allow room for me to slip in a temperature probe very well. The Pros: 1. Easy to clean. The teflon coating clean up really nice. The insert tray take a little more work to clean, but it's not too bad. 2. Fast warm up. It's ready in less than 5 minutes. 4. Less mess overall. I use less pots and pans. What a relief. This is a really nice cooker to have. Lots of pluses to having it, especially when you start using it. You'll discover the benefits yourself.

Amazon.com Review The powerful 1500-watt heating element can heat the spacious grill and griddle to sizzling for frying bacon or searing meats, or it can be turned down to a low keep-warm setting. The variable temperature knob--marked for minimum, medium, and maximum temperatures--easily adjusts to any temperature at or between those settings. The grill surface is tilted very slightly down toward the front; the removable drip tray fits under the front grill edge to catch any excess fat that drains away during cooking. An accompanying heat-resistant spatula is safe for use with the nonstick surfaces; use only soft utensils such as nylon or wood. Safety features include a stay-cool grill lid handle and nonskid rubber feet. The accompanying spatula, cleaning tool, and removable drip tray are dishwasher safe. Let grill and griddle cool completely before cleaning. To preserve the nonstick coating, do not use steel wool or other scouring pads on grill and griddle, and avoid abrasive cleansers. Use soft-bristled cleaning brushes to help clean between the grill ribs; the enclosed cleaning tool is also designed to fit between the ribs for loosening food buildup. The G2 grill and griddle is not immersible. The George Forman G2 grill and griddle measures 27 by 16 by 6 inches, with a 100-square-inch nonstick grill surface and a 115-square-inch griddle surface. Salton offers a one-year limited warranty against defects in materials or workmanship. --Garland Withers Features

Amazon.com Review The spits are one of four cooking methods provided by the rotisserie. There's around basket for roasting vegetables and "dry-frying" potatoes (fresh or frozen)in the low-fat method for which George Foreman appliances are famous. A flatbasket measuring 8-1/4 inches long, 7-1/2 inches wide, and 2-1/2 inches deepadjusts to hold foods like fish, steaks, and vegetables flat for grilling asthey rotate. Finally, six skewers fit into the rotisserie for kebabs and porkribs. Other features include a lift-up cover with a window, a three-hour timer, and a pullout drip tray. The rotisserie has a metal-and-plastic exterior and ametal interior for easy cleaning. It carries a one-year warranty against defectsand comes with a cooking time chart and recipes. --Fred Brack Features Reviews (42)
Previous reviewers had stated their problems with the back reflector being very difficult to clean and I do unfortunately agree with them. It will not come completely clean no matter what I do and I do wish it came with some heatproof and stainproof gloves, which would make taking food off the spit much safer. But those are the only complaints I have in regards to this product, as the good far outweighs the bad. The food tastes great and the inside of the oven and the spit rods are a breeze to clean. I especially like that the door is removable, which makes the cleaning that much easier. I'd recommend this machine to anyone. Definitely!
I got it and right away cooked some burgers. UGN! Never before had I cooked something in my kitchen that reminded me of the old elementary school cafeteria - it was dry and tasteless. And these were not "bad" burgers, they were Omaha Steak burgers, and they taste great on any grill. I figured, hey, maybe it was just burgers, but something else would be good. So I tried everything I could. Leg of lamb, a whole chicken, top sirloin steak, ribs, roasts, chops, chicken cutlets, hotdogs, kielbasas, fish and even some assorted vegetables. They all took longer to cook than in a standard oven, came out unevenly cooked and was the worst tasting food I have encountered in ages. There are some tools that I prefer for some items, but ANY of the foods I cooked would have been better cooked in a plain standard oven. Do yourself a favor and stick to an oven with a roasting pan. If you want perfection, buy an iron cast grill/skillet or an electric grill for "thinner items" like steaks, fish, burgers and sausages - although all of these can be broiled. Big items like roasts, leg of lambs and whole chicken/turkeys are best cooked in a roasting pan. Absolutely do NOT buy this product unless your taste buds are failing. On the bright side, if you do buy one of these, you will learn to appreciate your good ole' oven again.

Amazon.com Review Because the grills are nonstick, cleanup is a snap, requiring just a quick scrape with aplastic spatula (two included) and a quick wipe with a paper towel or a sponge. I have enjoying cooking on my grill and so will you.
First, the good: Looks really nice and modern, large, easy to clean, and has 2 temperature dials: a thermostat and a timer...this is where it ends. Now, the bad: The worst thing is you have to pre-heat the unit using the timer set for 10 minutes. I can't tell you how many times I've set the timer, walked away for maybe 12 minutes, 15 minutes, and have come back to the grill to find it has now shut itself off and the grill is cool again. I have to start all over again pre-heating it. Gee, the old GR36 was a pleasure....it never shut itself off, just the light would go off to let you know it was ready for use. Second, this unit is supposed to be 1500W. Mine is stated on the bottom at 1400W, even worse. Don't put frozen meat on there as it cools the unit down, and it never sears the meat. Meat looks very unappetizing and a sickly gray color until it starts to lightly brown and by then the meat is overcooked and dry. This unit is just not hot enough. What were they thinking about when manufacturing this loser??? Third: This is the second unit in three weeks. The first one just went back to Linen's 'N Things to be replaced. The first one had several issues, namely, it was poorly constructed. The lid was very wobbly and the little white rubber feet underneath kept popping out of place. I'd move the unit and the feet would fall out. Then I went to make dinner on the last uneventful night, and I attempted to pre-heat the unit. When I opened the lid, a teeny-weeny screw about a quarter inch long, flew out of the side of the unit. It was the screw the secured the right side of the top grill to the rest of the unit. My husband and I tried for nearly an hour to get the screw to go back in. There was no way to tighten it. Something was obviously wrong. How could such a miniscule screw hold the grill in place? Now the right side was hanging and we obviously were not eating dinner that night. We went to investigate why the screw would not catch only to discover the part that it screwed into located between the plates, was crushed. I ran back to exchange the defective unit. And to my surprise, LNT asked, "What happened? Did a screw fall out?" Is the new unit any better? Yes, so far, as far as its construction. Does it cook any better? Absolutely not. I'm hoping it dies an early death so I can throw it in the garbage. I can't say I'll never buy another Foreman grill, but I may have to go back to the simple styled GR36 jumbo one and live with the browning of the white body and the early demise of the teflon coating. They really need to improve it, but that unit cooked awesome.
Grilling meat to half its capacity, the results are a little better with the meat browning a little bit. However you have to wonder why use such a large grill for a little bit of meat? Looking at the wattage, this is only a 1500 watt unit, which is the same as my toaster oven and probably most other smaller grills. The wattage must be limited because of household safety for most kitchen circuits. This is probably why this unit has a hard time to cook a lot of meat. My question to the manufacturer is why did you ever design a large unit if you are restricted to only 1500 watts? If you plan to buy this unit for your weekend parties, my advise is DON'T buy it. You will be very disappointed and embarrassed by its grilling quality. On the other hand, this unit is great for making bacon. The bacon is thin enough so it won't cool the grill as you fill it to capacity. However, this is a pricey bacon cooker. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review Because the grill is nonstick, cleanup is a snap: a quick scrape with aplastic spatula (two included) and a quick wipe with a paper towel or asponge. Accompanying the grill is a 227-page cookbook containingrecipes for such lip-smacking dishes as Halibut with Avocado LemonCream, Dijon Flank Steak, New Orleans Pork Ribs, Stuffed Green ChileBurgers, and Garlic Stuffed Red Potatoes. The grill is clad in hard, gleaming, white plastic for a sleek appearance. --Fred Brack Features Reviews (49)
This particular model comes with 2 spatulas and 2 dip trays. Yes, the grill can be hard to clean if you don't wipe it off right away. The best way to clean it is to use the spatulas to scrape off the grill as soon as you remove your food. Then, as soon as you've eaten (and the grill has cooled a bit), wipe the grill down with warm, soapy paper towels. If you wait too long, the grease is hard to remove (be sure to wipe under the rim, too, for grease builds up there and might be hard to see). I haven't had any trouble with the teflon coating coming off, and I also find the spatulas easy to use (though they are a bit flimsy, but you can use any plastic utensil you want). The spatulas don't work as well scraping the grease from the very tip of the grill's bottom piece, as the grooves are deeper there than elsewhere. But for the job it does, the clean-up is worth it. This model is large, making it difficult to store in certain cabinets, but I use mine so often it just stays on the counter. I would definitely recommend a George Foreman grill of any kind. It delivers what it promises: healthier food, and fast! You'll find yourself using the oven a lot less.
This particular model is HUGE and will cook several portions of meat at a time -- it cooks from the top and bottom all at once to cut your cooking time down to mere minutes! The grill is tilted and comes with a trough so that all excess fat is drained away from your food. Pretty nifty! It's also fairly easy to clean up -- you just wipe down the grill and throw the trough in the dishwasher. We've used the grill for chicken breasts, Boca Burgers, regular burgers, pork chops, steaks, and even bacon strips (it's GREAT for avoiding a bunch of messy bacon grease). It cooks even frozen meat in a relatively short period of time, and it cooks it thoroughly. It's easy to throw something on the grill, sprinkle some seasonings on it (BAM!), and let it cook for a few minutes while you fix the rest of the meal. It is hard to overcook things, and it's fun to have grill-lines on your food. It took me awhile to believe the hype about the George Foreman Grills, but they are easy to use and deliver good results. In fact, this might be a good way to introduce your older children (12 and up) to rudimentary cooking. With this model, your teenager could be in charge of cooking a meal once or twice a week, and you could be fairly sure the results would be edible. The George Foreman grill is a great choice for people who don't have a lot of time to cook & clean, who aren't yet confident cooks or don't have a lot of cooking experience, or for anyone who wants an easy way to make a tasty meal!
The key aspect I must touch base on where the grill is concerned is how it literally drains the fat from your food. I was astounded by the amount of fat that came off 4 1/4 lb. hamburgers. I ultimately thought back about how much fat we consume per day without even knowing it. Meanwhile, the grill manages to retain the taste and juciness of the food you cook. The fact that you can cook frozen food is an added bonus as well, especially for someone like me who usually waits until the last minute to decide what to eat. I mainly use it when cooking chicken breasts. From the frozen state to fully-cooked takes approximately 10 minutes, and the result is incredible. I also found clean up to be a breeze. The plastic scrapers which come with the grill are practically useless. Your best bet is to use either a wet cloth or a wet paper towel to wipe down the grill WHILE it is still warm. It will be clean in no time. The grill is incredibly easy to use, and with the easy clean-up, you can simply wipe down the machine and be ready to use it again. I find this especially handy when cooking for a large group of people. So, if you're looking to cook low-fat food that is absolutely mouth watering, quick, and easy. You can't go wrong with this product. I recommend it to anyone.

Yes and no is the ambivalent answer. The Baby George is advertised to hold a five-pound roast or bird, and this is really NOT true, in my experience. Unless your five pound roast is very compact and not terribly WIDE, it will strike the front of the oven cover as it turns on the spit. That prevents the motor from turning the roast, and since the heating element (a simple exposed coil in back) is only on the back side, your roast can't cook properly. For under five pound roasts, the rotisserie works well. To roast a pork roast or chicken, you use the spit. The spit is in two parts: a spike and plate on which you place the meat, and a top plate with a wing nut to hold the plate onto the spike. This unit is then placed into the roaster and it meshes with the cogs of the motor on the side. The lid is closed and you turn on the timer. There is no choice of temperature: the glowing element heats to about 325 degrees F and the meat rolls past it, roasting a 4 pound boneless pork roast in about 75 minutes. There is a basket for roasting flat or odd shaped foods, and this unit is surprisingly useful. You can do fish like salmon, but I use it for chicken parts (leg and thigh) or for small boneless roasts that are too small for the spit. You open the metal basket, place the food inside, and close the basket top through the basket wires--rather like closing the door on a bird cage(!), pressing it down to hold the food in firmly (it will SHRINK on cooking, remember.) If you have trouble spitting a roast, remember the basket is a good option to get the same result. The basket fits into the roaster the same way as the spit--it meshes onto the cogs of the motor and flips around and around. Since it is a defined size, as long as the food can be held inside the basket, it will fit into the roaster and cook evenly. I have not tried the shish-kabob brochettes. They are wire skewers that fit onto the outside of the spit unit, into slots that hold the skewers across the end plates. It looks flimsy to me, and I am not a fan of shish-kabob--if I were making skewered food, I'd do it on the outside grill. The spit unit is dangerous to unload when the food is cooked. It is hot as can be, and you have to manipulate that wing nut off with a hot pad while holding the spit on a heat-proof and slip-proof surface. A clean damp dishtowel over a cutting board is what I use. The spit unit is lifted out of the rotisserie with a metal lifting holder, and you should have the rotisserie near where the meat will end up, because you are going to be carrying that metal holder with the spit unit and meat on it, dripping hot juices, over to where it ends up for carving. The spit is also SHARP and if you press down the meat to load it, have your hand well away from the top of the spike so as not to jab yourself. There are two side spikes that line up at 90 degrees from each other on each plate, holding the meat on the center spike and then with the four surrounding smaller spikes. These can jab you, too. Putting the meat on takes some care. The cleanup is not too bad: drip tray beneath is metal, cleans out easily with a bit of soaking. Behind the element inside the rotisserie you can pull out a metal reflecting plate. This plate gets spattered with meat juice or food juices and needs cleaning and soaking. Eventually it spots up, like a broiler pan, with tiny burnt-on bits that won't come off. If you like everything completely spotless, this may annoy you. The lid lifts off the unit by lining up some arrows. That allows you to take the lid to the sink and clean the clear window inside and out. The re-assembly is easy enough; push the metal reflecting sheet behind the element and seat it properly. Wipe out the rest of the inside, put the lid back on, replace the drip tray. We got our unit on sale, and I do like it for roast chicken and roast pork. I liked it less for roast beef. Small pieces of fish and meat cooked well in the basket. If you need big roasts, the bigger unit is advisable. I don't mind the cleanup. My biggest problem is with the spit--not all the foods want to stay on it, and removing it from the roaster is a bit difficult.

Amazon.com Review The grill is accompanied by two other handy kitchen appliances. First up is a snazzy toaster, which provides an extra-large slot thats ideal for toasting bread, English muffins, or bagels of any size. The special toast-warming compartment keeps items warm if theyre not going to be eaten right away (very helpful if youre toasting a large amount of bread or rolls), and the anti-jam mechanism ensures that nothing gets stuck. Seven browning levels provide a range of toasting options, while the slide out crumb tray makes crumb disposal a breeze. Adding even more convenience, theres an extra-lift facility for easy removal of toasted items, and a cord wrap that makes storage a snap. This toaster measures 16-1/2 by 5 by 8 inches (length by width by height) The third member in this sparkling appliance trio is a lightweight and attractive pancake maker. Taking any hassle out of pancake cooking, this machine features non-stick grid plates (which equal easy clean-up), a cool-touch handle, and a practical dual on/off ready lights that lets you know when to pour the pancake dough. Since it makes four traditional pancakes at once, theres no worry that anyone will be left behind at the breakfast table. The pancake maker measures 13-1/2 by 11-1/2 by 3-1/2 inches (length by width by height), and stands on its end for storing.--Fred Brack Features Reviews (1)

Its simplicity to clean and quick cooking make it great for students and others who don't wish to spend more time in the kitchen than necessary but nevertheless enjoy good food.
