4-0 out of 5 stars Good heater for the price
I use this heater in my cold basement under my computer desk, and I'm pretty happy with it. I was worried about the noise because I use a lot of speech-recognition software and a noisy fan doesn't help accuracy. It's not as quiet as I had hoped, but it's not bad, and my SR software doesn't seem to be affected. Negatives: Only one fan speed; it could use at least two. Also, the numbers on the thermostat and heat control dials are hard to read - not a big deal, since it's also very simple. The 750 watt setting doesn't put out a lot of heat, so I mostly use the 1500 watts. On the plus side, it seems to be very safe, the thermostat cycles just fine so it holds the desired temperature pretty well, it's nice looking, and hey, it's cheap! You can't really go wrong for 15 bucks.

5-0 out of 5 stars Works extremely well.
I live in a small room and when i turn up the heater, it gets pretty warm quickly. Very safe and i like the fact that it works on the floor or on the table. Not very noisy and the thermostat is working just fine for temperature control.

4-0 out of 5 stars great small, low budget heater
I wanted a low budget heater that would get me through when the weather gets colder and my central heating is not quite catching up. I was at first worried about getting something from the bottom of the price range, but I really like this heater. It's very compact, the round shape is cute and although it takes a few minutes to get going, it is quite warm. Because it is quite small, you really need to have it quite close to you to get warm. Note that the instructions recommend that you don't use extension cords, but the cord that comes with the heater is not that long. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Dissatisfied
Beware - I purchased a new unit and upon the first use I noticed that max heat setting would not work. After approximately 10 seconds of use, the heater stopped and a buzzer went off. After letting the unit cool so that it would start up again, I tried several more times to get the unit to work properly. I began to notice a large internal spark on the internal coils and connectors.

I view this as a serious safety hazard and am amazed that this wasn't discovered prior to shipment. I am staying away from Delonghi products from now on.

3-0 out of 5 stars OK...but not great
This heater is only OK. Mine broke within 2 months and I had to jump through hoops to get it fix through the warranty. Even before that though I didn't think the heater really pushed out a whole lot of heat. I think there are better one's on the market if you look and probably a much cheaper price also.

4-0 out of 5 stars Really Solid product
I just bought this space heater after going to a few stores and testing different heaters out but most heaters were too loud, the controls were cumbersome, and only a few had antiquated timers. I read the reviews and decided to give this one a try. This space heater has easy to use controls, the automated start times are key, it is wisper quiet, and it heats my attic office space, a 12 x 12 room, in less than 30 minutes from 50-60 degrees in the morning to 70 degrees. I just purchased a 2nd heater for my woodshop. this is a great heater for a regular size room, but beware, I don't think it would work very well in a really big room, it's output isn't strong enough and not designed for it.

4-0 out of 5 stars This header is so good that I ordered another one again
I ordered this DeLonghi after did enough research based on the following criteria.
a. Decent Brand
b. Auto temperature control
c. Timer
d. Enough power for my bed room.
e. Quite
I like this heater. I also viewed many heaters on the market. I still feel this heater has better value-price rate than others. With the winter season coming, I bought another one for my another bed room. This saved me a lot of money for my utility bill, because in the evening, the heating system in my house heats the living room warmer than the bedrooms.

Only one issue, the oscillate feature is independent of the fan being on. So, even the heater fan is off, the heater is still oscillating.

4-0 out of 5 stars works great!
I like the thermostat on the heater. The programmable timer on this heater is wonderful for nights and mornings. The annoying thing about the heater is the fact that the oscillate feature is independent of the fan being on. Thus, when the heater is not programmed to be on, it is still oscillating.

I am glad to see that Amazon has included some more information about the heater. When I first looked at the heater on the website, there was NO information. I had to do my own research and email Amazon for additional specifications. ... Read more

With their upward draft, the vertical air tunnels in this DeLonghi Rapido oil-filled radiator deliver effective warmth without the various difficulties of exposed elements. Quiet operation, a space-efficient design, and rounded fins make this unit a smart choice for just about any room in the house. 2-0 out of 5 stars Low heat and noisy timer
We had a Delonghi like this and wanted another one. this one came up in the gold box so i got it. The first problem is it doesn't put out the heat as fast as our old one. I think this is due to extra metal casing they have on this model so you cant touch the radiator tank/fins, but it does slow the heating effect of the unit...

Bummer, was hoping it would work as well as our first. Guess its best to go for the simpler things when you dont really need the bells and whistles.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Heater, but know what you are buying
I tried many heaters and this was the best I could find for consistent regular usage.
This heater puts out a cozy "feel good" type of heat. I purchased mine for a large bathroom full of cold tile and marble, and it warms the whole room superbly! I set the timer to turn it on about an hour before I get up in the morning, and turn off about 15 minutes before I leave. Warm bathroom everyday! Love it! When I accidentally leave the bathroom door open, it heats my bedroom too.
At first, I noticed the smell mentioned by others, but it quickly went away on mine and have not noticed it since.
Make sure you understand this heater will not provide *instant* heat as it takes 15 - 30 minutes to completely warm up. But then it heats extremely well.
My only complaint is more of wish...I wish it had a digital thermostat and timer instead of two settings and a mechanical timer just because it would make it even easier to use.

2-0 out of 5 stars Poor performer
I had good luck with several other Delonghi heaters.
The room I was trying to heat had a smaller Delonghi heater which worked OK, but I wanted to be able to warm the room faster and to a higher temperature.
I though this heater would do the job: it was bigger and had more heating elemnts. I was wrong. This heater does a poor job and a worst job than my smaller heater. All the heat rises from the top of the unit straight up to the ceiling and does little to warm the entire room.

3-0 out of 5 stars Works well, but still has an odor!
I use this unit in my bedroom to augment central heat at night. I turn the central heat thermostat down so as not to heat the whole house of unoccupied rooms. (I live in southern Louisiana. We only need heat sporadically throughout the winter.)
Turning the unit on a few hours before bedtime does the trick.. I leave it on all night and turn it off in the morning when I leave. I prefer to use a medium setting because after 3 months, the unit still emits an unpleasant odor at the highest setting. The odor is not overpowering, but is still there. Perhaps the odor is due to the oil filled nature of the product. Maybe mine is defective. The instruction manual says that the odor is only temporary. "Temporary" is NOT defined!

If you have high ceilings, this may not be the unit for you as the heat goes straight up. My ceilings are 8 feet and I only use it for the bedroom.

If I was to buy another heater, I would not buy this unit again because of the odor.

1-0 out of 5 stars Bad Experience
This product simply didn't work. Right out of the box it would not work. I figured that I had to be doing something wrong so I carefully studied the instructions and set it up again. It still wouldn't work. Then I figured that I must have set the thermostat too low, so I unplugged it, set the thermostat at maximum, plugged it back in and tried again, it still didn't work. Then I tried setting thermostat at minimum (why not), it still didn't work. Then I tried another electrical outlet, it still didn't work. After that I tried every possible permutation of settings that you could set it on but each time it still didn't work. I tried leaving one "heat level toggle switch" on and one off; one switch off and the other on; both switches off and both switches on but none of those combinations worked. I tried pushing all the timer tabs in but that didn't work. I tried pulling all the timer tabs out but that also didn't work. After a couple of hours I did manage to get it to start warming up a bit. I thought, "fine, now it'll start working." I left the room and came back later to see how much heat it was throwing off but it had gone ice cold again. I tried on and off for a couple of days but it never did more that start to get warm just on that one occasion.
I'll never buy another Delonghi product. If their quality control is so bad that you can buy products that won't work right out of the box, then I want nothing to do with them.
Today, I went out an bought one of their competitor's products and it works fine. The only problem is that I am out the money I spend on the Delonghi. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Advertised one thing and sent me something somewhat less...
This company's website said this product went up to 2000 watts. When I received my 2 heaters, I discovered that they only go up to 1500 watts. I felt this was very dishonest. The heaters work okay, but I can't help thinking that they would heat my home more quickly if they truly were 2000 watt heaters. This deal just left a bad taste in my mouth.

4-0 out of 5 stars Keeps me warm in the cold North East
Bought this item recently and really like it. It does the job well and heated up my 12 by 13 room very effecintly on the low setting. The unit has three settings 600 (low), 900(medium) and 1500(high) watts. I was pleased to see it heat the room on the low setting in a half hour. It is quiet and that's important to me as I don't want to hear whirring or fan noise in the background like other heaters. The plug and power cord was even't the slightest bit warm after 3 hours. I think for the price it's built well. The adjustable thermostat does work but there is no way you can tell what the room temperature is by looking at the unit. My only gripe with this product is the 3 foot long power cord. That's way too small and needs to be 7 feet minimum to aid in ideal placement of the unit in a room.

4-0 out of 5 stars Keeps me warm in the cold North East
Bought this heater towards the end of September'2002. So I have not owned it for a long time. I bought a high end ceramic heater before it and returned it promptly as the power cord was getting warm even after a 20-25 minute use. I bought this heater after that. I live in Northeast Canada where it is really chilly and cold. Tried out the heater and think this one fits the bill.

Pros
------
It has three power settings, 600 watts, 900 watts and 1500 watts. I placed it in a room which is about 13 square feet and had it going on the low setting of 600 watts. The room was nice and warm in 30 minutes. Remember this is the low setting, so that's pretty good performance.
It is quiet and will not disturb you when you're sleeping or resting.
It has foot mounted controls that are easy to use to control the wattage settings.
The power cord or plug was not warm to the touch after operating it for a good two hours.
It has a thermostat that does work. Once you get the temperature to a comfortable level, you have to turn the thermostat dial anti-clockwise till the lights go off on the heater. It will then maintain the room temperature automatically by coming on when needed.
It has a safety feature of shutting off if it's moved from side to side but I am not going to test that out for obvious reasons. It's good to know that they have the feature though. Most of the housing is cool to the touch when operating but this is a baseboard heater and the grill is going to get hot.

Cons
------
The big gripe about the product is the power cord. It's only three feet long and that is just not enough for ideal placement in a room. This is a baseboard heater, therefore placement is important as you want to avoid high traffic areas in the house. I think at a minimum it should have a seven foot cord.
It is quite long, about four feet, so it is not ideal for really small spaces.
Not recommended if you have small kids or toddlers in the house. ... Read more

With a larger than average surface area and powerful heat transfer system, Delonghi’s Magnum radiator quickly and quietly fills an entire room with heat. Its automatic timer control has 96 different settings, and includes a room monitoring thermostat, so you can set the unit to your desired temperature and know that you’ll stay warm. Horizontal thermal slots keep the heat circulating. High efficiency diathermic oil is permanently sealed and never needs refilling. The Magnum’s clean, Euro design is compact and safe, with no sharp edges, and a double insulated exterior. It’s movable, too: four corner wheels, and a handle that stays cool while the unit is operating, let you easily position the Magnum anywhere you need the heat. Additional safety features include thermal cut off to shut off the radiator once the desired temperature is reached, and anti-frost protection to keep the unit heated to at least 35 degrees F. The unit comes with a one-year warranty for parts and labor. --Chris deMaagd ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Heater
In contrast to other reviewers, this is an excellent heater. It is a radiative heater, if you want heat blown at you or directed, by a heater with a fan. This heater works best when something is above it like a shelf (an appropriate distance away) to project the heat out into the room, like the radiator covers seen in older houses.

Otherwise provide another type of airflow, such as a ceiling fan.

As a note:
* No smell as many reviewers have mentioned, except for the first week.
* The timer works great.
* It takes about fifteen minutes to a half an hour before you can feel the heat because it is oil-filled and slowly spreads the heat.
* Oil heating is more efficient heating and easier on the pocket book with the monthly energy bills.

* Thermastat works well in regulating the amount of heat provided and lessens the amount of energy used.

* User manual is very brief.

5-0 out of 5 stars Warm and Toasty!
This space heater was worth every penny! It keeps me warm and toasty, is absolutely silent, and doesn't look bad either. I have been using the heater safely in a small bedroom which has now become a preferred location in my chilly apartment. I have yet to experience an odor from the oil, and the digital preset temperature function is a plus. I was apprehensive to buy this product but I am certainly glad that I did.

4-0 out of 5 stars Quite soothing non-dry heat for all night long
Before you read any more, please understand the "principle of operation" for the radiators. As name says, it is a "heat radiator" and not heat "circulator". With any radiator you will have to provide some kind of air flow in the room using ceiling fan, etc. If you don't have ceiling fan in the room then also you can use radiator effectively if you put the radiator near a coldest window in the room. (This technically results in natural air flow because of the temprature gradient.)

Now something about the actual product. I have been using it for over a month now.
* No smell as opposed to lot of people complaining.
* It has two timers for setting two different "ON" times. However, both times share the "ON" interval. The ON interval can be sellected either 30min, 1hr, 2hr, 4hr, or 8hr. The example: If you program timer A for 9:00 pm, time B to 2:00 AM and ON interval to 4hrs this is how it will work: Radiator will turn ON at 9:00 PM and stay ON for 4 hours turing itself OFF at 1:00 AM. Again it will turn ON at 2:00 AM and stay ON for another 4 hours turning itself OFF at 6:00 AM. The point is you can NOT program timer A and timer B for different ON intervals.
* It takes about half an hour before you can feel the heat. This is because it is oil-filled, this also results in more efficient heating.
* User manual is very brief.

Oh by the way, I bought another one after 1 month for the second bedroom.

2-0 out of 5 stars Looks are deceiving
I purchased this particular model because I was going to heat a fairly large room, so I wanted something that was going to generate sufficient heat for that purchase. The principal for the heater is to heat the oil inside which in time would provide heat for the affected room. I turned it on high (there are 3 settings) and left it on for 4 - 5 hours. There wasn't any noticeable change in room temp. Thinking the room was simply too large, I moved it to a small bedroom. On high the temp in the room went up marginally. Another thing is this would be very dangerous around children or pets. The unit gets VERY hot to the touch except for the handle in front. It has casters, and it will move quite easily, but when hot you must be very careful.

While this unit looks impressive, it's not. You would be better getting a heater like the vornado that generates more heat and moves it around the room.

1-0 out of 5 stars Can't Feel the Heat
The Delonghi looks like a real powerful heater, weighing in at about 30lbs. and it looks like a home radiator someone would find in a house.
But unfortunately it does not perform as well as other heaters I have had in the past that were much smaller and more portable.
There is no real fan in the heater to circulate the air. So unless you are sitting right above the heater (where all of the heat air comes out of), you will not feel very much.
Pulling this baby around is no easy chore, and the heat coming from the top of the heater makes me wonder about the safety since there is no grill at the top to prevent something from catching on fire. ... Read more

Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Economical electric heater
I live in frozen upstate NY, where we've had several daytime highs of 5-15° and several overnight lows of -5 to -10° the past few weeks. Normally our coldest nights are around 10° and our cold days are 20-25°.
Our utility prices are very high. We keep the house between 58-60° and dress warmly to save money. Fearing an outrageous gas bill, we decided to drop the thermostat to 55°. Obviously you can't shower in 55°! Our bedroom is the master bedroom with it's own bathroom. We don't have kids.

My wife and I have not used the Delonghi since the days we lived in an apartment with lousy heat.
We kept the house very cold, but used the heater to make our bathroom and bedroom reasonable warm. Ran the heater for two hours before bed. The heater stayed warm for more than an hour. When you turn off a fan powered heater, you turn off the heat. Not true with the oil filled. The time it remains warm after shutting it off, think of that as free heat. We turned it on for about 30 minutes in the morning and got along OK.
I don't think it could heat our livingroom. In a small 200 sq. foot room it is fine. In our 450 sq. ft. apartment it was OK. If you are expecting to heat your house with one of these heaters, you are not going to. Should be fine if used for its intended purpose.

5-0 out of 5 stars These are an excellent space heater
Living in an old drafty house, these sealed oil heaters are super. They are not expensive to run, and surprise you with how much heat they put out. I have used this one for several years and it's perfect for cool autumn nights or early Spring night when turning on the house heater would be too much heat and too costly. They are very economical to run, and are great for deep winter when you want to add a little extra warm to a drafty area. The cats are always attracted to heaters, but I fear them accidentally catching that tail on fire. With this, I never worry about them. Kitty's love the heat, but they are save from cuddling too close.

I have a bad knee that stiffen up on me in the cool, and I sit and write too many hours. This heater keep my office so warm without the dry heat of a furnace, which then gives me headache with dry sinuses.

Very cheap to use, no worries and plenty of soothing heat. What more can you say?

A great appliance, helps on many a chilly morning. Works well, for about seventy bucks, can't go wrong. Very pleased so far.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Space Heater
I have the 6507L version of this space heater. I actually bought this unit before I even saw any reviews of it. I bought it because I have a DeLonghi electric grill which my wife and I love to use and so we trusted the brand name. Like many people, I've used almost every kind of space heaters under the sun... let me just say that this is the best one I've ever used. Others seem to use too much electricity and make the air dry, but not this. I've read all the negative comments posted here to see what possible gripes people had. Let me try to address some of those concerns:
1. First of all, understand that this is a RADIATOR, not one of those just-a-hairdryer-in-a-fancy-box space heaters that most people waste their money on. That means it takes time to heat the oil in the unit, which in turn heats the surrounding air. This works just like the radiators that all houses came equipped with in the old days, before the super high efficiency natural gas central heating systems were invented.
2. Because it's a radiator, it requires some air movement around it to dissipate the heat. That means you should place it under a window (where the cold air flows to the floor), near a heating vent where air is blowing out, or just next to the coldest wall in the room. If you have a celing fan, then you might want to turn that on to circulate the air in the room. Just remember to reverse the direction of the ceiling fan--don't keep it in the down-flow direction like you would in the summer.
3. If your circuits are being shorted while using this, then it's wiring problems in your house, not because of the heating unit. You probably have too many outlets running from the same circuit. In this case, you might try plugging this unit into a less-loaded circuit (i.e. your bathroom or hallways) with an extension cord, instead of your living room or kitchen where you probably have the most things plugged in.
4. This unit is quite heavy, so doesn't easily fall over like some of the cheap box units. But it does get quite hot. I disagree with the person who suggested that its OK for kids to touch while it's on. No, it's a radiator--it gets hot!
5. The only down side I can think of is the confusing control switches and dial. Switch 1 only = "low"; Switch 2 only = "med"; both Switch 1 + 2 = "high". Then there's also a dial from 1 to 6 that also controls the temperature setting. I just keep it on "6" and then turn it on full power (Switch 1 + 2). After the room feels warm enough, I either: (a) turn down the dial slowly until the unit *clicks* off -- this means that the unit is now set at your desired temperature; (b) leave it at "6" and turn on only Switch 1 or Switch 2, but not both; or (c) turn the whole thing off until the room gets cold again.
In conclusion, this is a great unit. Put one in your bathroom and walk out into a nice, toasty warm bathroom after a shower. Put one in your bedroom when you go to bed and turn down the thermostat on your whole house heater to save on your gas bills. Put one in your workshop in the garage, so you don't have to worry about all the sawdust blowing around. Just get one and try it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Supplemental Heat!
I've had my DeLonghi oil filled radiator for four years now and have used it in several different locations. I first used it to heat the living-dining room of an apartment. For the two years I lived in that apartment I never had to turn on the energy eating electric baseboard heaters. I now use it to supplement heating my new house's larger livingroom. This room has a ceiling fan which helps circulate the air. It's a good, solid work horse of a portable radiator. A previous reviewer complained about it tripping circuit breakers. That problem is easily prevented by keeping it on the low or medium setting, especialy if you're running another 1500 watt appliance on the same circuit - like a hairdryer for example.

It's a great heater, buy it with confidence! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best room heater-quiet, less dry air, ECC works wonders...
This oil filled heater is well built without any exposed sharp fins or corners. 2 timers can be set independantly A/B. Each set timer has a selection of how many hours or minutes you want it running after it is activated: 45 mins, 2 hrs, 4 hrs, 8hrs. Digital LCD read out displays current time, temperature that you want it to heat the room to in Feirenheit, a bar graph showing min, med, or max output, a red bright light to indicate the machine is pluged in and remains on all the time, a yellow bright light indicates that the timer is set to activate.
just a few buttons to use and very easy to understand which includes temperature +/-, timmer on/off, hours and minutes, mode button is for on/off and to control the ouput min, med, high.

I used the heater for a week and it turned out to be much better than the regular delonghi heater and better than what I thought.
What I like best is it is not only is it quiet but it actually thinks and varies the output from high, med and low by itself so you save on energy (delonghi claims 18%) and the constant temperture is maintain much better. other oil filled radiators swith on and off from the highest setting to off to maintain a constant temperature but in reality it feels like hills and valeys in the temperture meanning it driffs too cold at times and when the heat kick in it too hot at times. The ECC of the machine does a wonderful job of tackling this problem.

spend the extra $50 it is worth it and the design and bulit quality permint long life and maintance free. you'll get back some of the money thru the saving on your electic bill. you can see it switch from high to medium to low. for example lets say you set it at 75 on high by timer. at the program time it will turn on at high then at about 73 it would reduce it's output to medium and then at 74 it would be at low. vice versa when temperature drifts lower. will go to medium and then high as temperature drifts cooler. ...
