Over time, any household room can get stuffy and dank, especially in the colder months, when windows stay shut for months on end. Anyone with respiratory allergies knows how that stuffiness, which is the result of an increase in airborne particles, can affect the mere act of breathing. Not to mention the odors. The Holmes Harmony Air Purifier can scrub those particles out of the air with a High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filter. Particles of dust, pollen, pet dander, mold spores, and even smoke larger than 2 microns are caught in the filters tiny screens. And there's an ionizing function that helps even smaller motes clump together, so they're big enough to get filtered out. A lungful of air scrubbed by the Harmony Air Purifier feels and smells like it's from a snowy mountaintop

The Harmony Air Purifier is designed for a 180-square-foot room, or about 12 by 15 feet. The unit is a slim oval tower of ivory plastic less than three feet tall, easy to place in an unobtrusive corner of the room. There are two control knobs--one for the three power settings, and one to turn the ionizer on or off. An indicator light lets you know when the filter needs changing.

The outside of the unit can be cleaned with a damp cloth. The air inlet grill can be washed in hot soapy water (not dishwasher-safe); it should be completely dry before being replaced into the unit. The top air outlet can be swept clean with a small, soft brush. The air purifier measures 26-1/2 by 9-1/2 by 6-1/2 inches. Holmes products include a 3-year warranty and come with detailed operating instructions. --Garland Withers ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars It is noisy, but works for us.
I was hoping for a more quiet, blowing sound myself, but I put the purifier on a foam pad and it's quieter. I have found that it really works in cleaning the air in our bedroom. We used to wake up with stuffy noses, but since having it on low all night, we wake up with clear noses. And the constant white noise type sound helps with the traffic noise outside. So all in all, we are happy enough with the product.

1-0 out of 5 stars Awful
I bought this unit at my local K-Mart cause I could not wait till it shipped due to extreme hay fever this year. Plain and simple, this thing is NOISY, even on the lowest setting. They say it is quiet on the box but it is not. This thing could wake the dead. I am boxing it up and returning it this evening. DO NOT waste your time or money on this piece of junk.

1-0 out of 5 stars Piece of Junk!!!!
Stay away from this one!!! Did not last more than 8 hours. It just stopped working!!!!! Don't waste your time or money on this one.

1-0 out of 5 stars poor quality/noisy obtrusive tower
Wish I read other reviews before I bought this product. First, it's much larger and obtrusive than expected. Quality looks cheap (though it attempts to look like the ionic breeze in style),and when you turn it on it's noisy - even on the low range. Put it on high and the noise level rises dramatically. Have noticed no real improvement in air quality. Stay away from this one.

1-0 out of 5 stars low quality plus crappy style--stay away!
I bought this at walmart for $70, because the picture on the box looks kinda like the sharper image ionic breeze (but it's not!). it requires you to remove the wraper on 2 filters inside, which is easy enough. Like the ionic breeze I had, it wasn't able to clear out the paint smell my new apartment have. But I figure I would give it a couple more days before I return it. 2 days later when I try to unplug it and move it to another electrical outlet, the LED indicators burned out. It is now on it's 5th day and the fan seems to be noiser than before--as loud as my frig. I knew for $70 I can't ask for much, but knowing what I know now I wouldn't even take it if it's free. ... Quiet, effective, and relatively unobtrusive, this Holmes HEPA air purifier improves the atmosphere of the home by removing 99.97 percent of all airborne particles in the air it filters. It uses four heavy-duty true HEPA filters to do this, drastically reducing pollen, dust, allergens, and irritants in the air. The unit is designed for a 20-by-23-foot room (or up to 460 square feet), and it fits flush against the wall without obstructing operation. With its lighted control panel and well-marked buttons, the purifier is easy to operate. It includes four fan speeds powered by a GE motor and can be shut off without unplugging. For added convenience, the purifier comes with a remote control that operates all functions. Holmes' HEPA filters need replacing approximately twice yearly with typical use, and the procedure is straightforward. All the filters include Microban treatment to guard against the growth of microbial bacteria. Measuring 9-3/4 by 24-1/2 by 19 inches, the unit can be oriented vertically or horizontally. It carries a full five-year warranty. --Emily Bedard ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Smell the difference
I read about this purifier in Consumer Reports (it was one of the top 3 most highly rated) and have not been disappointed with it. The air in my apartment is noticeably more clear, and the added amount of circulation is really nice. Heat from the heating registers is now more quickly dispersed because of this unit. The remote control, although a nice touch, has to have line-of-sight with the device which is sometimes quite inconvenient. This unit has little lights on the front that tell you the filter status as well. Nice touch. On the highest (of four) settings, it's about as loud as an in-window air conditioner, on the lowest, it's almost inaudible. As for room size ratings, you can get one rated lower/smaller but it will just take a lot longer to filter. They don't stick you on the filters either; they last about 6 months (give or take) and cost about [$$$] total to replace. One of the best purchases I've made this year. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars the first one's free
there are 2 major things wrong with this (and every?) holmes product i have been 'duped' into using. it is much like when you buy a printer, the initial unit is a mere downpayment for all the cartridges you'll need if u use it 'normally.' the holmes air purifiers i have been intermittently stuck with do help clean the air and thanks to the standardization of the hepa filter (and no thanks to holmes), work fairly well. the downside is they are extremely difficult to clean (i think i used an entire package of qtips) and you have to take the damned thing apart yourself to do so (hence i cleaned mine once and dumped it) if you like cleanliness, once you look inside the thing you'll be prompted to do likewise. the reason why it's popular seems attributable to one factor: it is cheap. seems like a good idea at the time. then u start buying the filters and attempting to maintain it and realize what a poorly thought out piece o' junk the actual unit really is. be smart, spend more and get an air cleaner from a company that cares whether or not the unit can be cleaned after you buy (slantfin, bionaire, honeywell). hope this helps save others from a dirty business.

5-0 out of 5 stars definetly something to have
This little air filter does make a big difference
I have been using it for over 3 years ever since i got stationed near Tokyo Japan and believe me, nothing has more polluted air then japan. It made a big difference there and now im san diego and it makes the night sleep go a lot smoother.

2-0 out of 5 stars I Didn't Expect This.
As a smoker, I thought I woud try and clean the air in my livng room so I bought 2 of these because I liked the easy removal of the filters. Was I in for a shock when I went to buy the replacement filters. Who would beleive a years worth of filters costs as much as the air cleaner. I would like to see the price of these come down about 50%. It would almost be worth buying a new air cleaner so you don't have to clean the inside of the machine. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Love it! Just ordered a 2nd!
We got one of these a few months ago- it's wonderful! I had originally wanted a Vornado but those were a bit expensive so I decided to give this one a try. It's a very powerful, compact fan- wonderful for those of us with very limited space. It's a little noisy, but all high-speed fans are. Given how powerful it is, it's probably on the quiet side of the high-speed fan category. It's low speed is great for sleeping- in fact we rarely use the higher speeds, even during the day. In summary, we're very happy with this purchase, so happy that we just ordered a second for our son's room.

3-0 out of 5 stars Topheavy, but very useful
Well, we broke ours within the first month. It's too topheavy for the stem to be durable. If the stem were made out of a more durable material and thicker, the fan would have received a rating of 5 without hesitation. My fella has a hairdo that scares most women and children and it takes him hours to construct it. Lots of hairspray goes into the creation and he needs a powerful, adjustable fan to blow the fumes out of the bathroom (yes, this is what I live with every day!). This fan would certainly be a godsend, were it not for the somewhat flimsy stem. Beyond that, we don't find it too noisy, the 3 speeds are great, and the adjustable sizing is perfect for hiding behind our entertainment center (we live in a 600 sf apartment, and space is tight...this fan fits our space needs perfectly).
If you can treat it with gentle respect when you move it around and don't have pets, children (or boyfriends), who are rough with products, I highly recommend it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Fan - my friend is going to buy one too
This fan is solid, well-made, versatile and really ventilates the room well, but as with all high velocity fans it is on the loud side, even on low. It has basically three heights: you can use it as a table fan, or you can insert either or both poles to make it medium height or full standing fan height. Be forewarned though that there is a little work in doing this, but it's not difficult. ... Read more

People who favor fans over air conditioners like to feel a house breathe. A good window fan is a real blessing to a fan person, and doubly so if that fan can be set to blow in two directions. Double the benefits yet again if that window fan has two fan blades, each of which can be set either in or out. The Holmes HAWF3095 window fan has those quadrupled benefits, and then some. There are two 3-speed fans in the unit, each of which can be set for air intake or exhaust, or for air exchange, when one blows in and one out. In addition, there's a programmable digital thermostat and timer, so the fan can shut off automatically when nights get too chilly. And of course there is a simple on/off mode, especially good with the air exchange configuration.

Air direction is set by using the sliding switches located above each fan blade. The mode button is used to turn the fan on and control the speed. The mode button also cycles through three automatic thermostat settings: Auto High, Medium, and Low. There are two additional temperature adjustment buttons to fine-tune the thermostat to a personal comfort level. In addition, a timer setting allows the fan to be programmed to turn on and off at one-hour increments over a period of as long as 16 hours. The HAWF3095 fits most windows, whether it be a casement, slider, or double-hung style. The fan can function either horizontally or vertically, and there are two 3-inch extenders that can slide on at either or both ends to help tailor the fan to most any window.

Always unplug fan before cleaning. Use a soft cloth moistened with a mild, nonabrasive soap solution. Do not use gasoline, paint thinner, or benzene as a cleaning solution; also do not allow water to drip on or enter fan housing. The Holmes HAWF3095 window fan measures 25 by 13 by 5-1/2 inches. (For certain casement windows, a specifically designed bracket may be required; upon request, Holmes customer service supplies this bracket free of charge, along with installation instructions.) 4-0 out of 5 stars Humidity Can't Be Controlled
Well, I loved this fan the first few days. The outside temperature was in the 50's overnight and having it on the intake setting was cooling my hot computer and TV-filled den perfectly. Then, it got hot and humid. If the fan isn't running, it's just like having the window open a foot or so. This causes humidity to skyrocket in the room. I tried to run it on exhaust on the humid days, but it still went to almost 70% while the other rooms on the second floor were in the mid-50% range. I think I was better off just running the air conditioning by itself. The temperature was still around 79 deg. in the room, but humidity was 10-12% lower. My house suffers from the standard "cold first floor - stuffy second floor" syndrome.

The unit works as advertised, but not being able to close the window spikes the humidity, even when running on exhaust. ... Read more

True to its name, the Holmes Blizzard fan can kick up quite a windstorm, though its lower settings are so effective you may never need to use it to full capacity. Designed for desktop or wall-mounted use, the fan features four speeds and optional oscillation. Its deep design and efficient blade create a focused shot of air, and the entire head can be tilted to where it is most needed. The Blizzard is easily controlled by the switches on its base and back and includes a remote control for across-the-room convenience. The remote does not control oscillation, however--that requires hands-on action. 3-0 out of 5 stars Like other reviews, it is just too loud
It does what it is supposed to do - push air... and this it does quite well. Unfortunately, I bought this fan to use at work and the noise is just way too much. At three feet away and pointing away from me, clients on the phone asked me if I was in some sort of tunnel. The noise prevents this fan from being desirable. Like other reviewers mentioned, it would work great if used as combination fan / sound machine.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic
I bought the latest model, which has a thermostat in it's base. It has an electronic, single push-button thermostat that can be set at 60, 65, 70, 75, or 80 room temp. Has green lights under each temp setting, and red lights for high and low. Thermostat is very accurate! You can use low speed with thermostat, high speed with thermostat, or just low and high speed always on. This fan is small, un-obtrusive, and has oscillation and tilt. I have used this fan for 2 nights now, and it's great for the bedroom. You select your temp, set it on low, and forget it. If your room falls below temp selected, it turns off. If it warms up again, it comes back on! Moves lots of air on low! High speed is not for sleeping! Quite a bit of wind sound on high. Low speed will cool a 14' x 16' living room. Fan is quiet on low speed.

3-0 out of 5 stars good blower
It does circulate a lot of air and keep me cool.I like this feature. But it sounds like a jet engine, just matches its name--blizzard.I dare not set it on high or even medium, because I am afraid of waking up my roommate adjoining.

4-0 out of 5 stars great fan
i have had this fan for a couple years now, and i love it. i do admit that it's a little noisy on the high setting, but if it's hot, who cares! it's compact yet powerful, i highly suggest it.

2-0 out of 5 stars It is too loud

With its variable humidity control and two power settings, this Holmes ultrasonic humidifier makes a home more comfortable year-round. 2-0 out of 5 stars I Don't Recommend This Unit
It is pretty quiet and puts out a considerable amount of mist. But there are problems.

1) Despite the fact that it comes with a demineralization cartridge that is supposed to eliminate white dust, there is white dust all over my furniture, and especially electrontic equipment.

2) The unit is designed with many nooks and crannies that make it quite difficult to clean. And you will have to clean it regularly, since brownish gunk accumulates frequently.

3) The opening to fill the water tank is too small to insert a normal sized hand, so it is impossible to wipe clean inside.

4) As other reviewers have noted, a lot of the mist simply falls to the ground around the unit.

5) Do not under any circumstances move the humidifier around while the tank is in place with water in it, or it is very easy for the water to overflow into the air vent and go down inside the base with the electrical components and short them out. This happened to me, and the unit promptly died.

1-0 out of 5 stars Piece of junk
I bought two of these when my two-month old twins had colds. The best thing I can say about this humidifier is it did help their congestion. Unfortunately, it completely drenches everything (babies, furniture, floor, rugs, etc.). I tried putting down vinyl cloths followed by every blanket and towel I own. Everything is totally drenched in the morning including our laminate floor. The laminate floor is now damaged despite all of our precautions. I went out and purchased the Vicks humidifiers which don't drench everything but don't seem to work very well either. I'm on the search for something else.

1-0 out of 5 stars had two break on me
I have had two of these units break on me. The first broke within three weeks so I was able to exchange it under the warranty. The new unit then also broke in under three weeks. Its a waste of money and of poor design.

1-0 out of 5 stars Burned out after 24 hours
Got what we thought was a deal on this unit from WalMart (closeout at $10), too good to be true. Then, when something seems too good to be true...
For the first 24 hours it ran quietly, looked pretty nice. Now it just looks nice, and smells bad (burning electronics smell), and has quit completely.

It's going back today.

4-0 out of 5 stars I'm VERY Happy With My Holmes Humidifier!!!
I recently purchased this Humidifier (about a month ago) and I have to say overall I'm very happy with it. I haven't had any of the problems other people are saying they had in here except for the soaking of the floor from it. I raised the humidifier about 6 to 7 feet from the ground (placed it on a shelf) and since then it hasn't wet the floor. From my experience, all Ultrasonic Humidifiers that shoot mist wet everything under it. I also have a Sumbeam 701 that does the same thing BUT overall I'm very happy with that also. If you place this (Holmes) humidifier in the right area and high enough from the floor, it'll work excellant. Overall I Highly Recommend this humidifier. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

People who favor fans over air conditioners like to feel a room breathe or to feel outdoor breezes in the house. The Holmes HAPF622R Blizzard remote control power fan brings a little more of the outdoors in with its innovative breeze modes. In addition to the standard ON setting, the Holmes Blizzard offers two settings which switch speeds randomly to mimic the feeling of natural breezes. As for power, the Blizzard has a five-fin fan blade which moves more air per rotation than the more common four-fin blade. And the front grill can oscillate as well, which increases the width of the cone of air being moved.

The fan has a charcoal-gray, rounded casing that echoes the circle of the fan itself; the curved carrying handle arcs above for easy portability. The manual controls are another arc of light-gray buttons on the face of the fan. With the convenient remote control, however, those buttons might never even get used. Both the manual and the remote buttons use icons for the various commands: a circle for on/off, three wavy lines for the breeze functions, a clock for the timer, a fan for the speed setting, and a fan with two arrows for the front grill oscillation. There are three speeds, and the timer can be set to shut off at any half-hour increment up to 7-1/2 hours.

Always unplug fan before cleaning. Use a soft cloth moistened with a mild, nonabrasive soap solution. Do not use gasoline, paint thinner, or benzene as a cleaning solution; also do not allow water to drip on or enter fan housing. The remote control requires two AAA batteries (not included). The Holmes HAPF622R power fan measures 18 by 19 by 6 inches. Holmes provides a 3-year limited warranty against defects in material and workmanship under normal use conditions. --Garland Withers ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Powerful portable fan
This is a nice lightweight fan that packs a lot of power -- and modern conveniences -- in a good-looking, compact, and portable package. Features include oscillating grill, simulated breeze mode, and an electronic timer, plus a handy remote to control the whole shebang without getting up from your chair. Highly recommended, even from someone who swears by the littlest Vornado (aka the Tiny Tornado!), another fine little fan.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Fan!
I love this fan; it's just the right size and the handle on top is great for moving it around. It's very quiet on the low setting -- perfect for sleeping. I probably won't use the breeze setting-it slows the motor, then speeds it up--supposedly like a breeze--but some may like it.The remote is cool and so is the spinning grille--it really does spread out the air more when you set it to spin. I live in North Carolina with no air conditioning and I have eight fans, including a vornado (it is too noisy on the medium and high settings), and this Holmes Blizzard Fan is by far the best I've ever owned. It even has a timer, and I highly recommend this fan! ... Read more

Designed for small to medium rooms, the Holmes Cool Mist humidifier offers light humidifying to improve the quality and comfort of air in your home. With a maximum daily output of 2-1/2 gallons, the unit features two power settings and a transparent 1-gallon tank with a built-in carrying handle. Mist fans out from the top grille after the water has traveled through a circular wick filter that traps minerals and deposits. A simple dial gauge on top of the unit indicates when the filter is in good shape or ready for changing. Both the humidifier and the filter come with Microban protection, ensuring that bacteria, mold, and mildew are inhibited from growing. Holmes recommends daily rinsing with this model, and weekly scale removal during regular use. Though not industrial-strength, the humidifier is easy to use and straightforward in design. 3-0 out of 5 stars Does the job, but quite loud.
I spent a lot of time in the store looking over humidifiers, and finally decided on the Holmes. I like the design and features. The good point is it works very well at humidifying a small room. The bad is that it is VERY noisy. There's no way you could have it on high - it sounds like a jet engine. On low it is still quite loud. I have it in my son's room, and the white noise actually helps him sleep, but I would never be able to have it in my own room. If the noise isn't an issue, then this is a great humidifier, but I believe most people would prefer a quieter unit.

3-0 out of 5 stars Simply too loud.
I have had this unit for one week. I am returning it tomorrow because it is ridiculously loud. Forget sleeping--I can barely hear the TV over it! If noise is not an issue, then this item might still be a good deal for you. I paid $24.99, which I thought was a good price for it. The positives are that it holds 2.5 gallons, instead of the usual 2 gallons in this price range, and it has a built-in moniter to let you know when it's time to change the filter. It says it can run for 24 hours without having to refill the water. I did not test this aspect, as I only run it while I sleep (or at least that's my goal). Another negative is that it has a sticker attached that says to call an 800 number before using. Thinking it might be a safety issue, I called. It automatically records the number--with registered name--and address you call from and gives you a voice response sales pitch. That ticked me off. I just bought a Honeywell warm mist unit today. Hopefully that will be better for me! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice little fan
I love this fan! I've had several of them, over the years, which I've used extensively.
My only problem with the fan is that the clip breaks easily, so if you plan on moving it often, be aware that the plastic clamp on the bottom will eventually crack.
On the other hand -- I have one, on which the clip broke quite some time ago, that I've clamped to a shelf by other means, and after more than eight years of daily use the motor is still going strong.
The front is easy enough to take off for cleaning purposes, just take care not to dislodge the motor while cleaning the fan blades, or it won't run properly afteward.
All in all -- a great little fan. I couldn't live without mine! Just take care in how you handle it, and it will last you for years.

3-0 out of 5 stars Nice, Until It Broke
This was a great fan. It cliped onto anything and supplied a great cooling breeze. I bought the small white one for some of my co-workers in a local resturaunt kitchen. But the dishwashers were wreckless with it, and oh yeah, they busted the hell out of it. I got mad and told them you have to be careful with that stuff. They did the same thing to a larger Windmere fan I gave to them last summer. They said the blade broke off and smoke came out of the back of it. Yeah Right. I've owned many of fans and that's never happened to me. People just need to know that you have to be careful with fans. They're very delicate and you can get hurt. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Holmes HAWF-2041 Twin Window Fan
It does what I want it to - intake and exhaust. I like the sleep feature as well. It looks good and doesn't take up very much space.

5-0 out of 5 stars Controlling Humidity
We recently moved from the High Desert of California (which was very hot and dry)to Hawaii (which is very hot and humid). In California, we surrvived using a swamp cooler to provide cool, moist air. In Hawaii, good air flow is necessary to surrvive the humidity. Room fans just blow hot, humid air around inside the house. It is better than nothing, but not very effective.

We found the Holmes Window Fan which features both Intake and Exhaust options. One is installed in our kitchen window to Exhaust hot air when cooking and Intake cool air the rest of the time. Other fans are installed in bedroom windows. The one on the cool side of the house is set to Intake cool air and the other one is set to Exhaust hot air. This provides constant circulation and makes our home very comfrontable.

The only complaint we have is cleaning. One side of the fan comes completely off for easy cleaning. The other side is attached to the motors. We have to unscrew the motors and put them in zip lock baggies while we clean the rest of the fan. This could be easily corrected by making both sides independent of the motors.

Even with this inconvenience, this is the Best product we have found to keep our home cool and comfortable in a humid climate.

1-0 out of 5 stars The amazing no-breeze fan!
The breeze provided by this fan can only be likened to the movement of air inside a sealed jar sitting in the sun: the air moves, but that movement is only detectable at the molecular level. With both motors of this fan running on high intake, you can feel the air move only if you're seated directly in front of it, at a maximum distance of about 24 inches. In fact, when I plugged in this fan for the first time and turned it on, I at first thought that the fan was set on outake (i.e., pulling air out of the room); instead, the most gentle imperceptible breeze was wafting directly at me. This fan is very quiet; however, no fan would be quiet as well, while the breeze coming through the window would be about the same. To properly summarily evaluate this product, I wanted to give it no stars, to indicate the fan's complete abandonment of its function, but alas, ... rating system's lowest rating is one star. Purchase this product only if you wish to circulate air inside a small box. ... Read more

With its trim design and versatile programming, this Bionaire digital tower fan is a welcome alternative to bulky standard models. Designed to stand on the floor, the fan cools and circulates effectively, thanks to its high-performance centrifugal blades and a bi-directional louver that distributes air well with minimal turbulence. The control panel is streamlined and includes a digital thermostat, selectable oscillation, and three speeds. The fan's 16-hour timer is especially helpful--it can be programmed to turn the motor on or off in one-hour intervals. Bionaire also includes a remote control for added convenience. Some assembly is required. --Emily Bedard ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Poor construction and quality
I purchased this fan from Amazon several months ago and it is already in the garbage. The assembly is very easy and only requires a few moments and a phillips screwdriver. Unfortunately the plastic is very flimsy and thin and does not inspire confidence in the overall quality. The fan operated very well initially and the remote control was intuitive and easy to operate. Within a few weeks, however, the fan was making high pitched squealing sounds (imagine an old fan belt on a cold winter morning). I tried all the different speeds and settings, turing off the oscillation, positioning the fan on different surfaces, etc. Nothing fixed the problem.

I've never considered myself a high-maintenance consumer, but this purchase was very disappointing. I'd recommend one of the other brands or models, though many of the oscillating tower fans seem to have this same complaint. I have had good luck with Holmes products in the past (although this model carries the Bionaire tag), but I'd like to prevent other customers from the trouble I experienced with this model. Hope this helps.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing
Who would have thought of the technology innovations that could be applied to fans? This model requires some assembly - and you'll need to pay careful attention to the directions, which is a large folded page. Read the instructions, look carefully at the pieces, and the assembly will take less than five minutes. All you'll need is a screw driver.

The fan itself it a remarkable piece of technology, made all the more remarkable by the fact that it comes with a remote control at such a low price.

When you first operate it you'll think something's wrong because it will oscillate, stop and seem to shut down, then pick up again. This is normal, and after you get used to it you will discover that this behavior was designed to move air in the most efficient manner - both from an efficient use of electricity, and from an effective pattern for moving air and keeping you cool.

The on-fan and remote controls are easy to operate and give you a great deal of control over speed, oscillation, and even timing its turn-on time. Considering the price, performance and wealth of features this is one of the best bargains you'll find - and worth any price on a humid, hot Florida night when you are enjoying fresh air on your patio. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Works well but brakes often
I have bought this humidifier ... twice. It works well, but with proper maintainence the electronic control panel broke. I sent it back to the company and got a brand new one in return. I used it in the same manner, and now the new one's control pannel is not working. I would suggest finding another humidifier.

5-0 out of 5 stars (OWNED 4 YEARS) Best Humidifier I've ever owned!!
We have been using this humidifier for over three(now 4) years.

I'll go through all others complaints.

1. Broken handle. All humidifiers are built a little flimsy; just be careful! Ours has never broken. When full don't be tough with the handles. This isn't a pickup truck people!!

2. Won't humidify room. This is not a whole house unit.We have used it regularly in bedrooms and small apartments and considering the size it works very well.If you have forced air do not leave the fan on continuoisly (although we do occasionally) and close the door to your bedroom. When the heat kicks in; ours turns on and recovers the humidity in the room easily.

3. Leaks. There is a built in resevoir area for leaking. Ours over three years has only done this a few times and never enough to actually leak on the floor or outside the machine.
If your unit leaks all the time use hot water.Cold water will expand on the machine as it heats a little; forcing extra water out.Hot water will cool and shrink as it sits on the machine.

4. Not accuate. You got me? Ours has been perfect.

5. Rotted seal. Duh! When done with the unit; store with cap off of the tank. This will avoid all humidity problems.

6. Hard to clean. All burner humidifiers are hard to clean.I clean ours about once a week.I wash out all the peices by hand and hot water to remove minerals. The burner area itself I usually use hot water and my fingers to loosen up the minerals. I don't think this is too bad.I leave some minerals on the burner itself to avoid damage but who cares?I've only used vinegar at the end of the seasons. We do however have soft water.

I hope this helps people. We've used ours every evening and night in Minnesota. We've never had any problems. It even heats up the room a little which the misses likes a great deal.

(...)

The seal below the burner started leaking into the machine.
This caused the machine to do some strange things.
So, I dried it out; and cleaned the inside of the machine.
It ends up that the single screw that holds the burner and seal down on machine came loose. This might explain all the problems with leaking and such others have had. Worked great since then.

Looks like we'll get another year out of it!!!

2-0 out of 5 stars Needs improvement
This worked well for one season then leaked water everywhere. The water shorted out the controls - was lucky there wasn't a fire. It never worked the same again. I gave it two stars because when it did work, it kept the humidity at a comfortable level. If I buy a digital humidifier, I'd look for one with the controls anywhere but under the water supply.

2-0 out of 5 stars Great potential, but had many flaws
We are currently on our second of this same model and we have had numerous problems with them both. While this vaporizer did work well over a short period of time it does have a few serious problems. First it's difficult to clean and often get's neglected, the large carrying handle on the bottom of the tank breaks off every time after about a year of use, the digital controls start malfunctioning about the same time as the broken handle making the unit completely useless or leaves it doing strange things and displaying weird characters, they leak water into the controls causing it to short out with loud internal sparks. We love this unit if only it would keep working for more than a year!

1-0 out of 5 stars Watch out if you own this
This thing got burnt the other day.
Cooked!!I got lucky it just left the hole in my carpet, but it could burnt the whole house.By the way, it was working fine for last couple winters.I will never buy the warm mist humidifier again.... period!! ... Read more
