This isn't right! I ordered this on 6-1 and was just notified ship date will be between 7-9 to 7-22. Not a happy shopper with Amazon!

I ordered this on May 24th, Today June 30th I get an e-mail that it will be shipped by JULY 23rd. Two MONTHS after I ordered it. How do they have the right to say item will ship in 1-2 weeks. Now they have the nerve to state the item will ship in 1-2 business days as of today I have been waiting 29 business days. Companies like amazon complain when the government get in there business but when they out right lie to the public we have no other recourse but to look for the feds to help with misleading statements and advertisements by companies like amazon!! I am going to check with the FTC and see if there is someway to prevent these kinds of lies

Equipped with an embedded-dirt finder and Hoover's mostadvanced suction technology, this 1440-watt upright vacuum cleans abroad, 15-inch path illuminated by a headlight and provides handystorage for three onboard tools. The tools--dusting brush, crevicetool, upholstery nozzle--fit neatly into a storage compartment on thefront. They attach to either or both 16-inch wands and a stretch hose(no tangles!) for a long cleaning reach. The embedded-dirt finder showsa green light when vacuuming ordinary dirt accumulation. A red lightshows when extra dirt is encountered and additional cleaning strokesare needed. The machine contains two washable filters, one protectingthe motor and the other cleaning the air returning to a room. Otherfeatures include carpet-height adjustment, edge-groomers to clean alongbaseboards, and a soft bumper to protect furniture. 2-0 out of 5 stars Nothing like my old Hoover.
After a year of owning and using this vacuum we are very dissappointed in it. We have not had any brake downs like others but it just does not seem well designed. The unit is EXTREMELY LOUD especially when I am using the hose. The units tips easy when using the hose. Where the belt is to drive the brushes it does not pick up dirt so you have to retrace that step every time. I also have a lot of trouble with it trying to eat thinner carpets and other things I am trying to clean. We also have noticed the design flaws other have pointed out here. None of these things were a problem with the old Hoover Spirit which was a wonderful machine. The Windtunnel Supreme does clean very well with the exception noted above. We cannot return ours at this point but I would suggest you could do much better.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great vaccum--It really sucks
This is a great vaccum in terms of sucking power. It picks up dirt well and really perks up our tired old carpet. When I first got the vaccum, I treated the "dirt finder lights" feature as sheer gimmick. But I've come to like it. The hose on this unit is extremely flexible and extends to several feet. With the extension attachments, I can leave the vaccum on the bottom of the stairs and reach up to 5 or 6 steps up.

A couple of minor things I don't like about this unit: You connect an attachment to the hose by pushing it on--no actual mechanism that snaps or clicks in place to keep the attachment on the hose. So very frequently I have to re-attach the attachment as it falls off during the vaccuming. Also, to use the hose, one plugs it out of the "seat" (vaccumed dust gets sucked up through the "seat" tube into the hose and then into the bag). But one has to push the "seat cover" tight so that dust does not get blown out of the "seat" itself during vaccuming. For all the allergy prevention measures Hoover put into this vaccum, somehow Hoover didn't bother to find a better way to ensure that vaccumed dust gets into the bag.

These may be standard features with all Hoover uprights, and other people may not find them as inconvenient. All in all, though, this vaccum does suck, really well.

1-0 out of 5 stars Waste of Time and Money
Bought the Hoover Windtunnel Supreme two years ago. It performed okay for the first month or so. But the need to stop and unclog the hose, at least two or three times before I finish vacuuming, buying replacement belts for the power head (at least ten belts have been replaced in two years- my husband is a mechanic and he has a difficult time installing them)and the bags. As long as you change the bag before it is half-full, the vacuum will suck (if it isn't clogged). Both my sister and mother have this vacuum as well- all of us are looking for new vacuums to buy.

5-0 out of 5 stars beware model differences
I bought the "Supreme" model in 1999. I did not want the self-propelled feature because it was a heavier unit that I would have to lug up and down the stairs... and besides, pushing a vacuum around just isn't all that hard (unless perhaps you have a deep shag carpet). I was surprised at the more negative reviews, but I see that they are the same for the Supreme and the Ultra. I think maybe that is where a lot of the disparity is arising. I LOVE this vacuum (the Supreme). The only reason I am considering a new purchase is to replace the shoddy (granted, cheap) Eureka that I bought for my office, which broke in 6 months (and I will now replace with my trusty old Hoover). I have never had to unclog a plugged hose... but I wonder if the Ultra model is the one w/the clogging problem, since it has a 20' hose (with more bends & such). I don't have a problem with the vacuum falling over when I am cleaning with the hose... but again - it doesn't have the extra long (and heavier?) hose. It's suction is great! The extension wands DO fall off very easily, the cord needs a clip at the top so you don't have to bend over and grab it off the floor every time you turn around... the bag-full indicator is probably as unreliable as people say - but I don't use it. Instead I just pop the door open and check. What people say about changing the bag I find true also. The bag is longer than the bag-area so you have to sort-of push and finesse the bag in while closing the compartment - this really could be designed better. The dirt-detection feature seems to work pretty well. I have one cat and one dog and 2 toddlers. The pets have short hair, so that helps. When I had long-haired animals I still had to brush them every couple of days because NO VACUUM I know of will handle large volumes of long pet hair. In spite of the small annoyances (extension tubes, power cord, bag changing) 5 years later I would (may) still buy this vacuum. I really wanted the extended hose for cleaning... but now I wonder if the complaints surrounding clogging and tipping are related to the longer hose. Anyone have some insight?

5-0 out of 5 stars better than given credit for . . .
I know sometimes you can get a lemon but some of the reviews seem a little harsh. We have always used hoover vacuums and they have always been great. This one is no exception. It has great attatchments, is easy to use and does a great job of picking up dirt and debri. My older son who is always trying to take things apart managed to take off some screws that we could not find. We emailed to company and within a few days had the replacement parts at no cost. We have been very happy and have no complaints at all about this vacuum. ... Read more

Built with a dual air path, the Hoover SteamVac V2 cleansfloors deeply and helps them dry quickly, thanks to its spinningbrushes and powerful edge-to-edge suction. A 12-amp machine with an11-inch cleaning path, the vacuum works on both carpets and upholsterythrough a combination of floor nozzle suction and hose attachments. Itsoperation is simple: hot tap water is combined with a cleaning agent, dispersed into carpet or upholstery, and sucked back up into themachine's recovery tank. The SpinScrub system in the floor nozzlefeatures five rotating brushes to agitate carpet fibers and bringground-in dirt to the surface. If you choose, the brushes can switchoff for gentler cleaning and remove for easy maintenance.

Easy to maneuver by their bucket-style handles, the clean water andrecovery tanks each hold one gallon of liquid, while the separatedetergent tank holds 16 ounces. Fingertip switches control solutionrelease and let you choose between shampooing and simply rinsing. Forabove-floor cleaning, the vacuum comes with a removable 8-foot onboardtrigger hose, stair/upholstery attachment, and two-brush SpinScrub handtool. Helpful details on this unit include quick-release hooks for the27-foot power cord, a lint filter, a carrying handle, and a 16-ouncestarter bottle of detergent. Though designed primarily for carpets, theSteamVac V2 can be used on bare floors with the separate purchase of abare floor attachment. Hoover includes a full one-year warranty.--Emily Bedard ... 5-0 out of 5 stars So Far - So Good!!
I have been reading allot of reviews on cleaners from vacuums to steamers and hand held vacuums all over the net and it seems as though Hoover is getting bashed quite a bit for bad design and being over priced in these reviews. I have upgraded my cleaning equipment recently to this model the Hoover F7220-900 SteamVac V2 and the Hoover WindTunnel Bagless Deluxe Upright Vacuum Model No. U5750-900 both purchased from Walmart off the net to maintain a second house recently purchased. The rugs on the second story and stairwell are under a yr. old. The rugs on the first floor are original and 13 yrs. old. Upon purchase the seller hired a Professional cleaning service (Price $350.00) to clean all rugs upon their departure and they did look brand new upon completion of his job. However after releasing the new Hoover machines into action, I realized that these home units just may surpass the cleaning ability of commercial cleaning units. The Hoover F7220-900 SteamVac V2 pulled up more deep imbedded grit, dirt and soap residue left behind after the pro-cleaner, I mean the water was dirty (Brown) DARK-BROWN.. The rinse feature is truly a great feature as mentioned in many other testimonials.

So far both the Hoover products rock and have exceeded my expectations in their ability to clean. I have had no problems with leakage, cracked tanks, broken belts, accessory problems our failure of mechanical integrity of any kind.

Like others I am concerned with MFG. using so many plastic parts these days over the metal of yester year but the proof is evidently in the technology of these modern machines and how well they work.

Although only 3-months into action on these machines, SO FAR SO GOOD!

5-STARS ..

5-0 out of 5 stars I love my hoover
I have the cleanest carpets anywhere, thanks to my new hoover. I love it. The water containers fit in my sink, no pre mixing. The carpet was dry where I started by the time I'd finnished the room. Don't waste your money renting the Rug Doctor. This machine out performs it easily.
The other reviews mentioned leaking water. I noticed the same thing after one refil. I reinserted the tank and the leaking stopped.
I also love that you can easily remove all the parts to rinse the dirty carpet nastiness from the brushes and the suction V. Very cool

1-0 out of 5 stars Watch out for Hoover
I bought a Hoover steam cleaner and it worked - once. Of course, since I subsequently had my carpets professionally cleaned, it was over a year before I went to steam clean my carpets in a few dirty spots. No good with water release to the carpet part, in spite of many correct arrangements of the tanks, review of trouble shooting, going over all the assembly. It was not going to get any water to those brushes. What a huge amount of money for one cleaning. I decided to write a review for every steam cleaner they made. Good luck, and make sure you use it a lot before the warranty is up.

1-0 out of 5 stars Clean Water Tank Cracks
I was foolish enough to beleive that the problems experienced by other Hoover owners were special to them. After a few carpet cleanings, our Hoover Steam Vac V - clean water tank cracked on the bottom where the connection is made for water supply. After so many complaints from unsatisfied customers, why would Hoover continue to sell a product with a faulty part? Answer: They don't care. They assume (probably quite accurately) that most consumers will experience the problems after the warranty period, thus creating new business for themselves. SHAME ON YOU HOOVER!

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing machine
Bought this machine recently and have to say I'm quite impressed. Cleans all kinds of carpets from regular shag to berber very well. I was a little wary at first before buying because of the number of complaints on here about it leaking, but I think if you assemble it like it says in the manual, it's a pretty solid machine. I did not have any trouble with leaks of any kind. In fact I got consistently good results on all the carpets I used it on. The spin scrub brushes were quite effective. Did not use it much on upholstery though, so cannot say about that. Only complaint is that you have to refill it quite often if you're cleaning large rooms. But I guess that's a compromise that has to be made to keep this thing easy to maneuver. Bottomline: Great machine. Just be sure to read and follow the instructions on how to assemble and use it. ... Amazon.com Review

Equipped to clean just about every surface in your house, the Hoover bagless WindTunnel upright is a powerful machine suited to the all-in-one mindset. The 12-amp unit features multi-height functionality--one level for bare floors and four for a variety of carpets--and a revolving bristle brush roll to agitate ground-in dirt and groom surfaces. The floor nozzle is 15 inches wide, making for efficient floor coverage, and its wide bumper protects walls and furniture legs. Dirt collects in an ample cup here instead of in a bag, and when full, the cup removes easily for emptying into a trash bin. Its two-chamber, two-filter design traps dust and particulates as well as large items and is assisted by the side-mounted HEPA filter, designed to capture 99.97 percent of common allergens. Both the pleated cup filter and the HEPA filter can be tapped clean; the HEPA one needs replacing about every three years.

For above-floor cleaning, upholstery, and stairs, the vacuum comes with an automatic-conversion stretch hose and tools stored in a front hatch and side clips. In addition to two extension wands, Hoover includes an upholstery attachment, a long crevice tool, and a dusting brush. Especially notable, the powered hand tool has its own brush roll for effective cleaning of carpeted stairs and upholstery. Other helpful details on this model include quick-release cord hooks, a headlight, and a carrying handle. Hoover provides a one-year warranty with the vacuum. --Emily Bedard ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Hoover's Even Better the Second Time
Up until 1997, I didn't give vacuum cleaners much thought. Then I saw the Hoover Wind Tunnel TV commercials, bought a Wind Tunnel, and came to appreciate what a difference a good vacuum cleaner makes.

Now, 6 years later, it was time to get a newer vacuum to take advantage of features such as bagless and self propulsion. After comparing specs and reading reviews, including those in Consumer Reports, another Hoover seemed to be the logical choice. I ended up getting the U6660-900, which is the same as the U6630 with the exception of an extended warranty and an additional flex hose.

This is a wonderful vacuum cleaner! Self propulsion makes this 24 lber feel like it only weighs 5 lbs. The amount of dirt it picks up is remarkable - the dirt finder feature gives you the confidence that you have thoroughly cleaned an area. Bagless is the only way to go - emptying the canister is very easy. The filtration system is most effective - you don't get that vacuum smell associated with 'dirty air' cleaners. Plus, the frequency with which filters need to be replaced with this model is much less than other makes (3 years for the Hepa filter).

Other nice touches include the ability to turn off the brush roller when cleaning floors; the turbo tool that does a nice job on upholstery; the 35' power cord that minimizes the need to change outlets; and the thoughtful placement of the on board tools and extension hose.

Overall, you just can't go wrong with this top of the line Hoover product. Based on the good experience with my previous Wind Tunnel, I expect this model will also provide years of trouble free service.

4-0 out of 5 stars Kirby vs. Hoover
I bought a Kirby vacuum cleaner for a hefty price over 20 years ago. Although, it's made to last a lifetime, the weight of it makes it very cumbersome & it's a real pain to attach the attachments. With regular maintenance, it's lost it's suction power. My husband bought me a Hoover Self-Propelled Bagless Windtunnel almost a year ago & I LOVE it! It has great suction power (even when using the hose), the Self-Propelled feature is wonderful, I love not having to buy & change bags & the onboard attachments are real convenient. I have to empty the canister & clean the filter about once a month. If you have major dirt, animal hair, etc., you may have to clean it more often. The downside to this vacuum is the hose for the attachments doesn't stretch enough & the small brush attachment is too small. The bristles need to be longer & thicker.

1-0 out of 5 stars Probably the worst vacuum cleaner ever
I ordered this vacuum and received it about a month ago. I have used the vacuum cleaner maybe 12 -15 times or so, as I vacuum every few days and it has already malfunctioned in two ways. The self-propel mechanism has already started failing intermittently and the switch that is used to turn the brush off has broken off. Broken off is not exactly the correct phrase, as the plastic didn't break, the switch just came apart and fell into the body of the vacuum. Do yourself a favor and do not buy this vacuum.

On the positive side, it does have a really good hand tool.

1-0 out of 5 stars Hoover Bagless? We call it the Hoover Worthless!
We quickly discovered our Hoover Bagless machine had problems, but not until the store's 30 day return policy had expired. Repeated e-mails asking for advice/help turned into repeated e-mails from us complaining of problems with both the product and the total lack of response from Hoover. We've attempted to discuss our problems with Hoover, but we've received no response back. The Hoover has been relegated to cleaning the floors in the garage where I keep my antique car collection. We bought a different brand for the house.

Each time we started the Hoover, we first had to position the suction hose near the dirt cannister to catch the dust that flew out whenever the unit was first turned on. With 2 cats, we too were lured by advertising hoopla into the idea that this unit could handle the cat hair. Sure it can, but it means replacing an expensive ($30) filter about 6 to 8 times a year. You do the math - in a couple of years the cost of filters exceeds the cost of the Hoover!

Cleaning the "bagless cannister" is very messy, make sure you do it outside and on a calm day! We'll take a "bag type" anyday!
We've noticed that in all the Hoover bagless advetising we've seen on tv, The person using the bagless Hoover is picking up what looks like confetti. That's right, little pieces of paper. Not dirt, pet hair. etc. Any vac can pick up pieces of paper!

3-0 out of 5 stars Great picker upper but.........fragile
We have 2 St. Bernards and our other vacuum was not picking up all the hair and our carpeting was not looking like it was even vacuumed. I read some very good reviews from dog owners and decided to go with it. It was the greatest thing since sliced bread for the first 6-8 months. Now all is does is break. I have had it to an authorized service 6 times in the past 8 months and I still have the same problems so now I am stuck with an expensive vacuum that has to go for a regular maintenance every 4-6 weeks. Love the pick up but not the problems!! ... Read more

Combining 1,440 watts of power and Hoover's most advanced suction technology, this upright vacuum picks up dirt other vacuums would miss and captures it inside two sealed, hygienic chambers rather than a messy bag. Three filters--a prefilter, an anti-allergen HEPA cartridge filter, and a final filter--ensure that clean air returns to the room. The twin chambers of the dirt cup are easily removed for emptying. All three filters can be rinsed, and the final filter can be washed. Accompanying the vacuum is a powered hand tool for stairs, upholstery, and automobiles. Two other tools--an upholstery nozzle and a dusting brush--are included and can be stowed, along with the hand tool, in a handy compartment. Other features of the 44-inch-high vacuum include a headlight to illuminate the 15-inch cleaning swath, a carpet height adjustment, edge groomers to clean along baseboards, and a soft bumper to protect furniture. The vacuum assembles with four screws (included). --Fred Brack ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars PLEASE DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY
I purchased this vacuum because of all the great reviews it was getting on how well it picks up dirt, how much money I'll save on bags, and the supposed hepa filtration. Buy it if you must but let me give you an idea of what to expect.

When you first get it the vacuum WILL impress you with its suction and the way it makes your carpet look. It just feels powerful. The 3rd day the belt broke and by the end of the first week I had gone through 3 belts. This is not a flaw with the vacuum itself however. The belts are low quality and cheaply made. This problem was easily fixed by going to sears and buying a kenmore belt of comparable size. I have not changed the belt in the last 5 months.
Vacuuming hardwood floors is a waste of time as the roller continues to rotate and blows the dirt all over.
The first month the suction like I said was great. The 2nd month I noticed a sharp decline in this vacuums power. I could barely pick up the dirt and dust I swept from the hardwood floors. There were no leaks and no clogs so I figured it was the hepa filter and rinsed clean as per instructions, but to no avail. I then replaced the hepa filter at a cost of 34.95 which fixed the problem. I,m on my third filter in 5 months. Thats going to be considerably more expensive than bags.
If you are allergic to dust don't expect this vacuum to make it any better. Empty the canister just once and you will know what I mean, tapping it on the side of something will only send clouds of dust up in your face. This also is not a sealed hepa system so it really doesn't filter dust the way you would think it does.

I am going back to bags as my allergies and my wallet just can't take this vacuum anymore.

5-0 out of 5 stars Cleans incredibly well, but one caveat!
Like another reviewer, I decided to 'test' this vacuum myself . . .. I couldn't believe the amount of dirt it picked up, even *right* after vacuuming with my old vac (which, I had previously thought worked perfectly well)! I actually apologized to my family for how filthy the house had been (not really, but from the amount of dirt this thing picked up you'd have thought so!)!

My only warning/complaint (and the Hoover booklet already tells you, but I missed it my first time through and wanted to 'save' someone else the belt if they 'miss' it too!): when the vacuum is upright and you're using the onboard tools (say, to vacuum the furniture), the main floor brush continues to spin (unlike my old vac where if it was fully 'upright' the main vacuum shut off and sent all power to the wand). Not a problem so long as you're aware of this and don't place it on the edge of a rug (where it burns the belt off trying to suck the rug up into the vacuum!). The good news is: they include an extra belt with the original packaging (so I didn't need to wait on shipping a spare)!

So, it took a little getting used to, but the cleaning power of this thing was WELL worth it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Glad I bought it before reading the reveiws!!!
I absolutely LOVE this vacuum!

I bought it at my local Sears, and paid more than it costs here. After reading the reviews here I am glad I bought it before I saw them, I probably wouldn't have bought it with some of the things posted!

I have lived in my apartment for over a year and had new carpet at the time we moved in. Now my daughter is 7mos and crawling. I noticed that the tops of her feet and hands were so dirty, and I was vacuuming EVERYDAY. I also noticed that when I would sit on the floor and play with her I would be covered in carpet lint.

I finally decided that my 3yr old Eureka (that smelt of burnt hair) needed to retire. I did some research elsewhere and decided to get this vacuum. I took it home and put it together (four screws - very easy) and started to vacuum right away. It was amazing!

I had just vacuumed the day before with my old machine, but I filled the canister with just the living room and hall. I loved it so much I was going crazy and using the attachments to get the baseboards, furniture, cobwebs, dust... you name it! I have yet to see a dip in it's performance. I empty the canister after each use (by choice - it's kind of neat to see what I picked up). When using the attachments I set it to the highest setting to prevent undue carpet wear.

As for some of the negative reviews this model is NOT for bare floors, the saleslady said I could try but it probably just push the dust around. Also you may need to clean hair out of the brushes if you are like me with VERY long hair. I shed a lot and I am used to doing so.. it really isn't a big deal.

This vacuum is a great tool. I personally don't have $500 to spend - I have a new baby (with much cleaner feet by the way).

1-0 out of 5 stars The worst vacuum cleaner I've ever owned.
I bought the Hoover Windtunnel in Sept. of 2003 when we moved to Texas. What a mistake. (Guess I was suckered in by the ads). Anyway, while assembling it (with the assistance of the painters who were painting the interior of our house before we moved in) - I was immediately struck at how cheap it looked. Everything was made of plastic and didn't quite fit right. (Even the painters commented on that.) Since then, I've been extremely disappointed by the fact that the hose keeps coming off. Also, the clip that holds the pipe in place has been broken off by a minor collision with a door. Hair is continually stuck in the brushes and needs to be cut with scissors and drawn out manually (yuck). Also, the suction is way less than desirable. All in all this is without question the WORST vacuum cleaner I've ever owned. (I'm 50 years old and have owned quite a few in my life!)

1-0 out of 5 stars waste of money
The vaccum was great the first week or so. We have had it for a year now. The thing is louder than a train running through the house. It looses suction all the time. The filters are always clogging. Not to mention the cost adds up replacing them. Oh and the belts are ALWAYS breaking on it. We've gone through at least 2 belts a month since we bought it! Other vaccums we've had we NEVER had to replace the belts! It smells & it's dusty. It doesn't work on hardwood floors as it kicks all the dirt back at you! All the tools have broke. We've replaced the hose on it 2 times. It tears along the part where it attaches to the vaccum.

The vaccum finally died today....out in the trash it will go on Monday. Don't waste your time or money on this vaccum! ... Read more

Made for high-traffic areas and serious above-floor cleaning, this WindTunnel V2 bagless upright with hand tool from Hoover combines smart construction with versatile functionality. Built with a 12 amp motor, the vacuum can handle a wide range of surface types, from bare floor to deep-pile carpet. A special duct system prevents dirt from returning to the floor, and dual air path suction and side groomers deliver optimum edge cleaning. The floor nozzle has a 15-inch cleaning path for covering ground efficiently and double brush rolls to get at the dirt between carpet fibers. The vacuum is conveniently bagless and collects debris in a generously sized double-sided dirt cup. A screen between the chambers keeps large particles on one side and sends small debris and dust into the second chamber where they're trapped in the HEPA filter. When the dirt cup is full, you slide it out and empty it--a simple process thanks to the cup's sturdy handle and secure lid. The vacuum's HEPA filter can be tapped clean to extend its life, while the machine's prefilter and exhaust filter can be hand washed for repeated use.

For above-floor and spot cleaning, the vacuum's best feature is a powered hand tool that attaches to the hose and comes complete with its own rotating brush roll. Other attachments include an extension wand, a crevice wand, a dusting brush, and an upholstery tool. These are all stored onboard in side clips and a tidy front hatch. Beltless for easy maintenance, this model also includes handy extras, such as quick-release cord hooks, nonmarring wheels, a carrying handle, a 31-foot power cord, a furniture guard, and a headlight. The power switch is in the handle, and the three handle positions are controlled with a foot pedal. Hoover backs up the vacuum with a full one-year warranty. --Emily Bedard ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst Vacuum Ever!!!
I would have given it *0* stars if I could have!!!
I bought this vacuum thinking it was going to be so great. It was one of the most expensive ones at the store. It broke after 1 week. I had already thrown the box away and I couldn't find my receipt anywhere. I have a long haired cat and also long hair myself. Two of the brushes got tangled up with hair and the cheap plastic brushes melted. So I ordered 4 replacement brushes online (anticipating more problems so I ordered 2 extra brushes) At least the new replacement had metal inside the brush so the didn't melt like the other original 2. I replaced all 4. Now everytime I vacuum I have to alot out about 10 minutes after I finish vacuuming to clean the vacuum. Needless to say I hate vacuuming even more now. It takes up too much time!

I am now getting what I should have from the beginning THE DYSON ANIMAL!!! Never to buy another Hoover again!!!!

3-0 out of 5 stars Really cleans up but has its issues
This vacuum really does a good job of getting up dust and pet hair. We have a large dog who sheds like crazy and 2 cats who do the same. It really cleans up the hair and the onboard tool is pretty cool - it also sucks up hair from the couch in no time. That eliminated my need to use a separate small vac on the furniture. But it IS extremely heavy and I'm surprised it doesn't have the "easy-push" feature most new vacuums come with. We bought this vacuum in March and by December (just as one other reviewer commented) one side of the brushes stopped working. Part of the problem (with this, and most vac's, I've noticed) is that my long hair gets tangled around the brush heads and then burn out the whole thing. Can they NOT come up with a way to fix this? There's no way to avoid vacuuming up your own hair! I was hoping the beltless feature would mean less hassle but we still have problems with this vac. And it's pretty expensive. The noise really isn't an issue for us as I expect a vacuum to be loud. We also like that you can turn off the rotating brushes to vacuum floors and small rugs. But there's just too much room for improvement to justify spending this much on a vacuum. We're just glad that the store we bought it from (Kohl's) has such a great return policy. If it breaks, we take it back. So I don't even mess with trying ot fix it - we just replaced the whole thing when it DID break down. Bottom line - look for a bagless w/HEPA that's easy push for a lower price and you'll probably be happier.

1-0 out of 5 stars WHAT A LEMON!!!
We bought this vacuum because we thought Hoover had a good reputation. What a mistake! The first time we used it, the motor burned out. Hoover replaced the motor. It worked okay for a year (nothing spectacular) and then the suction stopped working. We got it in to be repaired just before the warranty expired. We used it twice after the repair and now it smells like it's burning when we use it. Our cheapo Eureka that is 10 years old works better than this vacuum. I wish I had read the reviews on here before wasting my money.

1-0 out of 5 stars Pathetic vacuum w/ poor workmanship
I bought this vacuum couple of weeks back and the unit will not turn on for some reason. So I returned it for a replacement, the other unit failed the very second day yielding extremely poor vacuum. Amazon denied replacment of the same again stating that this problem seems to be more widespread than expected so they cannot give another`replacement but I wonder` why they are still selling it especially for such a high price! But I must say, amazon has a great customer service since they have paid for shipping the item 4 times considering the fact that this item is heavy and weighs 30 pounds!

BUY anything from amazon BUT this Hoover!

1-0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY THIS VACUUM!!!!!!
Its heavy and loud. You might be okay if you dont have kids, animals and a head of hair. It gets clogged and you have to take the whole vacuum apart to unclog. Than it just clogs again. And hair get wrapped around the bearings on the brushes and then melts and fuses the bearing together than you have a wonderful option of paying 90 bucks to have it fixed or just throw the junk away!!! Dont buy this vacuum!!! And if you write Hoover with your problem, they will not respond!! ... Read more

With its five spinning brushes and fingertip controls, the 12-amp Hoover SteamVac V2 gets carpet, upholstery, and tough stains clean deep down. The cleaner is also suitable for tile, ceramic, marble, and linoleum floors (though not appropriate for hardwoods). Constructed with a dual-nozzle air path, the cleaner provides powerful edge-to-edge suction for thorough cleaning and efficient water removal. Designed to agitate the dirt out of carpet fibers and off bare floors, the SpinScrub brushes can be turned off with a simple switch and removed for easy maintenance. The cleaner uses a two-tank design that holds up to a gallon of water at a time and automatically mixes the cleaning solution, so you don’t have to monitor it. Both tanks are enclosed with convenient handles, making them easy to remove and transport. The recovery tank automatically shuts off suction when it’s full and comes with a built-in lint screen. A removable view window on the nozzle lets you see dirty water returning to the machine.

For above-floor tasks, the cleaner features an 8-foot hose and a stair/upholstery tool. Conversion to tool cleaning is manual but quick, and you can remove the hose and tool caddy altogether for more streamlined use. The cleaner comes with a carrying handle, a 27-foot cord, quick-release cord hooks, and a foot pedal to release the handle. Fingertip switches control rinsing and washing, and a trigger lets you release an extra surge of cleaning solution. The beltless design, as well as the removable brushes and nozzle cover, simplify maintenance. Hoover includes a 16-ounce bottle of carpet/upholstery detergent and backs up the machine with a full one-year warranty. --Emily Bedard ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Doesn't last more than 6 months
We bought this carpet cleaner about 6 months ago, and have used it about 5 times since then. After 3 uses, the push-valve on the soap container broke, so we could not put anything in there and have to mix the soap directly in the water container. Just recently, after the 4th use, the push valve to the water tank came loose, so now it leaks water all over the place. The dirty water container on the bottom has always leaked dirty water once you remove it to empty it. We have to use a bucket to carry it to empty so it does not drip dirty water everywhere. Now, after after our last use, the water pump broke and now we can't use the machine at all. What a waste of money! We plan to return it to Hoover, but I don't want a new one, I want my money back! I'd suggest looking into a different brand if I were you.

1-0 out of 5 stars Trash
I've logged less than 5 hours on my steam vac. It's been in the closet for the last six months and when I pulled it out todato fill the water tank, I found that the bottom was rotted out. How can this be??? I kept my vac clean between uses and never stored chemicals in the holding tanks. The manucturer's date on the bottom is August 2003.

I've read some of the complaints about this vac and had thought I was alone. My deduction is this... it's a piece of trash. Maytag/Hoover should be ashamed to put this product on the market.

I'm a machinist by trade and found that the bottom of the tank where the 'rot' occurred is less than .020 thick. Folks, that's about the thickness of 3 human hairs. I'll follow up this post with a complaint directly to the manufacturer. It's disgusting.

1-0 out of 5 stars looses suction
My model F5872-900 Hoover SteamVac is constantly loosing suction and I have to stop, reseat the recovery tank. I am so disgusted with this problem. Otherwise, it cleans well.

4-0 out of 5 stars Dirty Water spills and leaky containers
I've had this about 6 months and have probably logged 5 hours total on it. The cleaner works great, but if the waste water container gets too foamy (no way to control amout of detergent dispensed), it starts spitting the dirty water back onto the rug. The dirt doesn't show up again until it dries, so its very important to empty the waste water before it indicates.
Another problem that has surfaced is that the clean water tank has developed a leak at the bottom valve and becomes a steady stream when the system is running...the net result is water everywhere...making for a slippery mess. I think the system is great, but it takes a while to learn the quirks of this machine.

5-0 out of 5 stars I love this thing!
I'm a cleaner and I also have allergies to dust, mold, pollen and also have two cats so I love when my place is fresh, clean and sparkling. I own this thing and I love it.

I originally borrowed my mother's and after using it was surprised at how clean everything was. I've had a number of comments from friends that the rugs look brand new. Better yet, I was dating someone who had severe asthma and when he walked in, he took a deep breath and said: "You cleaned your carpets, right?" He didn't wheeze one bit the entire time he was there.

I also own a Dyson vacuum. Love that, too. When I power clean, I'll vacuum over everything slowly and thoroughly first. All the cat hair picks up plus dust, dirt and my own hair. Then I'll start working with the Hoover. Despite the power behind the Dyson, the water in the Hoover is always dark when I'm washing. Within a short amount of time, the rugs feel great! There is a rinsing option as well if you want to make sure all of the cleaner is out of the rug and you can pretty much go over everything without depressing the clean button to suck up excess water.

This also has a squeegee attachment to do the linoleum floors. Good idea. Scrubs then scoops up the water and sucks it up. There is a a different detergent for linoleum so take a look around. However, it is very LOUD when doing bare floors. Not recommended at night. :)

Also, there are two Hoover SteamVacs, one with more brushes. My mother's had the fewer amount and I haven't noticed any difference between the two. I just ended up with the bigger one because when I ordered the smaller from Sears, they sent the larger by mistake and said: "Oh, well, you get it for the other price." Good deal!

Good tip: If you want to clean in the winter -- don't hesitate! Especially when it's really cold outside. Not only does it get the dirt that's been laying around while your windows are all shut but when it's so cold that the humidity is at 0 you'll be surprised how fast the rugs dry. I did mine just now an hour ago and they're all dry.

The only thing I'd recommend is to buy a allergenic detergent. The best one I've used is Bissell 720 Multi-Allergen Removal Formula, which you can find on Amazon.com. This really seems to do the trick when it comes to getting out the junk in the rugs.

Things do snap apart for cleaning and can take a little time, but if you vacuum thoroughly enough before hand you shouldn't have this excess of junk to pull out. There are some crevices where things can get up into, but snap it off, turn on the garbage disposal and get the faucet hose and you should be good.

With all vacuums and rug machines, I have this advice: You have to go slowly with ANY machine. Not snail-slow, but don't go so fast! Give both time to really pick up. If you sweep too fast, it misses the dirt. Quick swiping is alright for last minute company cleaning, but once a week I really take my time with my vacuum. A good rule of thumb for cleaning (if you really want that fresh look without overloading the machine with dirt) would be vacuum once a week -- wash once a month.

The combo of both these machines has well been worth it. I recommend this machine for any household and if you want super clean, get the Dyson vacuum as well. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars If you want to get your dust wet and leave it as streaks ---
A miserable experience. I bought this through Amazon when I contracted to have my hardwood floors refinished. The contractor took way too long, so I didn't try to use it until yesterday. Only the dry vacuum function worked, and not very well. I tried to call Hoover. They don't have an 800 customer service number, so I had to pay for a looonnnnnggggg long distance call. Got a busy signal the first ten times, then was put in line ("Your call is important to us") for 47 minutes, a total of one hour 13 minutes before I got a human being. She first tried to tell me that she didn't know anything about their products and that I should take it to my local appliance repair shop. I insisted and she finally suggested that I unscrew the handle and screw it on again. I did. Nothing, though I noticed that the internal "controls" are a couple of flimsey plastic sticks, the very essence of nineteenth century technology, but with cheaper materials. Ever heard of a switch?

I then drove across the county to my Hoover dealer. He told me that there were two screws missing, which should have been installed at the factory, and replaced them. He also pointed out that the "scrub" function is a misnomer -- the thing doesn't scrub; its brushes aren't designed to move at all. He assured me that the tiny dribble of cleaning solution he managed to get out of it was all it needed.

I took my expensive toy home and tried it. The advertised three-way action is actually about a half dozen separate actions, only two of them (vacuuming and dribbling) done by the machine. You have to do the rest. First you have to dry vacuum the floor. Then you switch over to wet/scrub and three tiny streaks of fluid appear. Then you go back over it to spread the fluid around and, supposedly, to pick up the fluid and dirt. After a few minutes the floor dries and you see dirty streaks everywhere. Repeat process. Same thing. Repeat, repeat, repeat. Then go get a mop and do it properly.

As far as I can tell, the purpose of this appliance is to moisten dust, move it around a little and leave it on the floor as streaks. The machine has no effect whatever on dried spills, footprints, scuff marks, dirt or any of the other things that routinely find their way onto a floor. And the tanks are so small that you can only do about half a room before you have to empty and refill.

I have bought a lot of appliances since I started restoring my house. Some have been great (Bosch dishwasher, Mac woodchipper, Mikita powertools), most good (Amana gas range, ShopVac), but this Hoover is the biggest piece of crap, backed by the worst customer service, that I have enountered outside the former Soviet Union. I gave it one star only because you are not given the option of none. And now Amazon won't take it back because 30 days passed before I could use it.

4-0 out of 5 stars thought there was only one model
i too didn't realize there were diff.models [i researched it on the web] but saw it at brandsmart and thought i was getting a good buy. its not the magic bullet for tile but saves the mopping.who knew there were supposed to be spinning brushes?a little truth in advertising? problem is finding lysol concentrate for machine.is there somehing else to use?

3-0 out of 5 stars Get the FloorMate 3000 or 3010 for just a little more $$
We ordered the FloorMate 2800 model from the Home Shopping Network last week by mistake (paid $165, including shipping). We hadn't done enough prior research to realize there were THREE different FloorMate models, and this was the bottom-of-the-line model with immobile brushes.

It went together easily; probably 10 minutes and we were ready to go. Somehow we managed to get it out of the box and assembled without noticing the brush configuration (there was no need to turn it over during assembly).

I vacuumed and cleaned the white linoleum in our 500 sf kitchen in about an hour, using about 1.5 tanks of water + 3 oz of solution. It did a great job of picking up dog hair, pepper, sugar, etc, and did an OK job of cleaning the floor (still kind of dirty in the pits of the linoleum. I was disappointed that it took so long, but amazed at how filthy the water was, when we had just mopped a couple of days before.

While cleaning it out I discovered it didn't have the spinning brushes. After some quick research, we found that both the 3000 and 3010 models have the spinning brushes. The 3010 model (FloorMate Plus) has only been out since Sept 2003, costs only about $35 more than we paid, and also has a longer cord and extra set of brushes. It didn't take long to decide to send back the 2080 and get the 3010.

We weren't completely unhappy with the results of the 2080, but figured for $30 more, the 3010 would do even better.

5-0 out of 5 stars clean grout !!!!!!!!!!
I purchased this with a bit of scepticism. I'm not a cleaning fanatic, but I like a clean house. Well, the grout in our tile is now getting clean and the stained concrete porch with all the doggy footprints is getting clean as well. I highly recommend this product. I am so excited about it that I've told friends. I never talk about cleaning with my friends.

This is well worth the $!!!!!!!!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars So dissatisfied with performance I returned it.
I ordered this item on the basis of customer reviews. I tried to use it on both tile (in the bathroom), linoleum (in the kitchen), and hardwood floors. In none of these cases did it give satisfactory results. ... Read more

Sturdy as a belt sander, the Sidewinder Hand Vac is an all-purpose household tool with a cleverly helpful feature--a nozzle that swivels 90 degrees to provide more flexibility in vacuuming hard-to-reach spots. This is helpful in vacuuming out tricky spaces, such as between moldings and doorjambs, or the concavities of recessed windows. The Sidewinder also has a powered brush roll, especially useful on rugs or fabrics.

The Sidewinder has a 20-foot power cord, a workable length for most any household room. The body of the hand vacuum is made of sturdy glitter-gold plastic, and the transparent collector receptacle end is a darker, smoky-gray in color. Its removable filter is made of a long-life, washable plastic weave. The ergonomically molded handle is designed so that the on/off button is in a comfortable position to be used with one hand.

Cleaning the Sidewinder Hand Vac is very easy. The collector cup detaches for easy emptying, and the filter is removable and can be washed in warm, soapy water. (The filter should be entirely dry before being replaced in the vacuum cleaner.) The motor/handle section is not immersible, and it is not advisable to put any of the components in the dishwasher. The Sidewinder measures 13 by 6 by 8-1/4 inches. Hoover products include a one-year warranty against defects and come with a detailed instruction booklet. --Garland Withers ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars What Dirt Devil should have built
After dissatisfaction with several Dirt Devil models, I found the Hoover Sidewinder to be what I was looking for. Simple, bagless, and the brush is belt-driven off the motor so it keeps turning even when picking up moderately heavy debris. I keep it near the cat's area for sweeping up excess litter and dry catfood chunks. This quickly brought the Dirt Devils' vacuum-driven brushes to a halt but not the Sidewinder, and the Sidewinder was less expensive.

4-0 out of 5 stars surprisingly good hand vac
Hoover always delivers, unlike Eureka and Dirt Devil. This is a pretty well designed hand vac and more functional than other brands of hand vacs.As mentioned in the description, this vac has a swivel nozzle,an easy empty dust cup and a washable filter. The filter dries fairly quickly,or use a hair dryer on the warm setting. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars This vacuum sucks!
I have had this vacuum for over a year now and am unhappy with both the design and service. The vacuum has very powerful suction.<br /> <br /> So what's the problem you ask, well with the carpet brush engaged the gears make such a high pitched and hideous squeal that you need to wear hearing protection.<br /> <br /> The V tunnel is so narrow that the carpet fibers get clogged during normal use. I am not using the vacuum to do anything odd and I do not have any pets so there is no long hair. I have to remove the brush guard and use a wire clothes hanger to pull the fibers back out of the suction path. I literally spend more time cleaning the vacuum than the carpet.<br /> <br /> When I informed Hoover of the situation I was redirected to a service center for repairs at my one cost. The vacuum isn't damaged it is poorly designed. I didn't use the device for anything that it is not expressly intended for.<br /> <br /> Between the vacuum and the lack of interest on the part of Hoover I would not recommend this vacuum, unless you're a just sadist.

1-0 out of 5 stars The worst vaccum I ever owned !!!
This is with no doubt the worst vaccum out there. It doesn't put up the attachements don't work. And when you empty the dirt cup you get grease on your hands. Taking it back. This vaccum need alot of improving!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Everything you could ask for ......and more
My old vacuum went out and I spent weeks shopping, and doing net research.I have a dog and kids, one with asthma, so I knew what features were important. I knew what I wanted, but couldn't spend $500.00. Well, this one has it all! Easy to assemble, with a screwdriver-just 4 screws, dual brushes, good suction, carpet to bare floor in an instant,HEPA filter, can be used with bag or bagless, easy to remove and empty dust cup, door covering the on board tools-no falling off during vacuuming-like my old vacuum- hose is long and while you are using it, your vacuum does not fall over-again like my old vacuum.I bought it yesterday, and have tried everything, I love it!!

3-0 out of 5 stars Pleased, but not excited
I bought this vacuum and another at the same to really test out which of the two that I would prefer. Sadly, this was the one that got returned.

Pros:
1. Cleans well
2. Array of attachments that are all stored onboard
3. Hoover replacement parts availability
4. Solid construction
5. Good for larger areas with lots of carpet
6. Easy-access controls (except for height adjustment

Cons:
1. Wide footprint
2. Harder to manuver than other brands
3. Attachments not as easily acessable

4. More expensive than other comparably equipped brands
5. Has some lubricating gunk on the canister that gets off on your fingers
6. Canister is harder to remove than other canister-type vacuums (Pull to the side instead of straight out)
7. Assembly is a bit more difficult than other models, but not excessive. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Hoover has pretty much thought of everything with this versatile, 12-amp vacuum cleaner that comes fully assembled and is ready to use right out of the box. There's no need to wait until everyone is out of the house to clean anymore--the Hoover EmPower upright features a Hush mode for quiet cleaning anytime. Hard-to-clean messes quickly vanish with the to the Power Boost feature, while pollens and allergens are removed by the allergen filtration system and the long-lasting Teflon-coated HEPA filter. Instead of disposable bags, the system uses a dirt cup, which is see-through, so it's easy to tell when it needs to be emptied. The cleaner is easy to lift due to a convenient carrying handle, and for transporting, just put the handle in the upright position, tilt the cleaner back on the rear wheels, and push forward.

Several on-board tools are available for time-saving, efficient cleaning. The dusting brush is perfect for such items like carved furniture, tabletops, books, lamps, lighting fixtures, Venetian blinds, baseboards, shutters, and registers. The furniture nozzle works great for upholstered furniture, draperies, mattresses, clothing, automobile interiors, and carpeted stairs. The crevice wand, which stores inside the extension wand, helps with hard-to-reach spaces like corners or along edges in places like dresser drawers, upholstered furniture, stairs, and baseboards. It can also be used for extra reach with the dusting brush and/or extension wand. The extension wand gives extra length to the hose and can be used with any of the above tools. There's also a powered hand tool that makes carpeted stairs and upholstery easier to clean.

The vacuum's handle has three positions: upright when using the various cleaning tools; operating position for general cleaning of carpet and floors; and low for reaching under furniture like sofas or beds--just step on the handle-release pedal to lower or raise the handle. For easy storage, the upper handle folds down making the vacuum more compact; just press the upper-handle release button and fold the handle down into the storage position. To return the handle to its working position, simply raise it into its upright position until it locks into place.

Other features include a headlight for better visibility, a 15-inch-wide cleaning path, and five height-adjustment settings for easily moving from a throw rug to bare floors. Its 31-foot cord could be a little longer because once you get started, you won't want to have to stop and replug. An instruction manual is included to help you care for and get the most out of your Hoover EmPower. This vacuum carries a one-year warranty. --Catie Unger ... Read more
