Don't confine the pleasure of pressed coffee to home. With this combination of coffee press and vacuum-insulated thermos, European-style coffee turns up at the office or campground and stays hot three times longer than coffee made in a glass press. Simply spoon in ground coffee, add boiling water, place the lid on with plunger in the up position, wait four minutes, push down the plunger slowly, and . . . Presto! Fresh, piping-hot coffee for two or three hours. Lightweight and virtually unbreakable, the press has a handsome, satin-finish exterior and tough, nonslip, black plastic top and bottom. The press parts and smooth interior clean with sponge or cloth. --Fred Brack ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for good coffee
I bought this coffee press about two years ago and I love it. Makes a great cup of coffee. Easy to clean, usually I hand wash it but about once a week I toss it in the dishwasher. (They say to hand wash it only, but it seems to do fine in the dishwasher.)

I find that it keeps coffee warm enough for a couple of hours. Maybe not as fun as the see-through glass coffee presses but I like the extra insulation.

4-0 out of 5 stars It's actually a great TEA press and teapot
It may have its faults as a coffee press, as other reviews have said. Too many grounds escape and doesn't keep it hot for more than 2-3 hours. However, if you're a tea-drinker who would like to use or already uses loose tea, it works really well as a tea press and teapot. The mesh filter is well-enough fitted to prevent all but a very few leaves from escaping. And it will certainly keep your tea hot much longer than a ceramic teapot with blanket or cozy. As far as I have been able to find out, this product is really the only french press that is thermal/insulated. There are insulated glass-lined plastic teapot-shaped carafes, and there are one or two non-insulated french presses made specifically for tea and made of single-wall glass. But there seems to be nothing else out there that combines insulation with the french press.

The manufacturer could improve this item by making the lid more insulating and snug-fitting. But even as it is, it makes using loose tea very convenient, and keeps it hot a lot longer than the available alternatives.

4-0 out of 5 stars not superlative, but thermally insulated is the way to go
Short answer: Pretty good, nor perfect, but recommended.

Screen does not appear (to my amateur eyes) to fit the walls as smoothly as a bodum glass model I saw, i.e. there are small indentations in my screen that may or may not merely be cosmetic, but then again mine arrived dented as was probably abused be a previous jerk who returned it (and then they re-sent it out to me -- why, I dunno.) Anyway, it doesn't seem to affect the coffee, but I'm a novice (as if it matters).

I think an uninsulated one would be a real pain. This keeps it hot for a 30 minutes to a few hours (with the time varying mainly on how much coffee you leave in it). A glass one would lose heat rapidly by comparison so if you drink a pot over an hour or so like me you'll really want this or bodum's similar offering.

5-0 out of 5 stars Replacement French press screen
I have this pot for years and Bodum makes replacement screens that will fit this pot. Shame that they make the screen for their product as well as Nissan and they clearly state that it will fit the Nissan...

5-0 out of 5 stars Great press; but no more screens
We have had this press for over a year and use it almost every day. It keeps the coffee hot long enough (we drink it before it has a chance to get cold anyway!), plus it just makes excellent tasting coffee. We do take issue with the manufacturer, however, as I just called them (11/3/03) and they said they no longer make the replacement screens--and that they are the only ones who made them. Yet they will replace the whole pot if you need a new screen. Does this make any sense? ... Read more

Virtually unbreakable, this lightweight, vacuum-insulated thermos travels to work or your favorite recreation spot. On arrival, and for hours afterward, coffee, tea, or soup will still be hot. Or lemonade, pasta salad, or a sports drink will still be chilled. Compact (7-1/2 inches high) and elegant, the thermos has a tapered, satin-finish exterior and tough, nonslip, black plastic top, bottom, and L-shaped handle. Fine threading ensures the twist top seals tightly, and a fliptop (adaptable to righthanders and lefthanders) opens the sip-hole and closes to prevent spills. 2-0 out of 5 stars Not WARM at all (even with preheating!)
I have always heard GREAT things about Nissan products (or maybe I assumed they were great because they are more expensive than even Starbucks products). However, I am very disappointed with this products. It doesn't keep the liquids hot, even after I preheat it with HOT water. Sad, but true. Also, the lid leaks. Save your money and buy any other kind of insulated mug. This is not worth the money.

4-0 out of 5 stars Sturdy, handy tumbler
I've had this cup for at least 5 years.

Good points: Well balanced handle which feels go in my hand and allows me to carry empty by sticking the handle in my pocket. Easy to open and close to fill and to drink. You can peel the label off so you don't go around advertising.

Weaknesses: Smell seemed to accumulate, particularly after I used it for chai tea. There's an internal gasket on the inside near the top which harbors gunk and smells. Top threads starting to strip, but I've had it for eons.

I haven't found better yet, but I'm looking.

2-0 out of 5 stars Leaky lid
I was duped into buying this mug, thinking it had a leak-proof, or at least mostly non-leak lid. In fact, there are better lids on cheap plastic mugs I have used. Make sure you purchase the Nissan mug that specifically states that it is leak-proof, and has a 6-hour capacity (this one will keep beverages hot or cold for only 1-hour). One more thing... it smells funny.

1-0 out of 5 stars Stinky, germy, uncleanable
Buyer beware: A slim white plastic ring inside the mug traps residue underneath. Since the ring wasn't designed to be cleaned or removed, the result is a stinky, germy mug that nauseates you so much you don't want to drink out of it. Who cares about the product's other qualities? So it's unbreakable; it's also uncleanable. I've switched back to using a plastic coffee mug from the local bank to carry my morning coffee. At least it's dishwasher safe.

3-0 out of 5 stars Leaky lid
I bought this mug as a gift. The person I gave it to was unhappy with it because it leaked when he carried it in his backpack. It is a nice looking, good quality mug, but for the price it really should have a better lid. The lid will probably work fine if you only intend to carry it in your hand or car cup holder. ... Equipped with a removable, adjustable, nylon-web shoulderstrap, this lightweight, stainless-steel, double-walled,vacuum-insulated thermos has a leak-proof stopper so it can travel towork or recreation without dripping. 1-0 out of 5 stars Leaks...........
Looks nice but don't function very well. No matter how I screw on the tops, they leak. Don't waste your money, even the "stainless steel" used to make it is very low grade and thin-walled.

I don't like getting stuck having to return items so I might just use it as a flower vase and learn from my mistake.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Sleek, effective, lightweight thermos!
This stainless-steel thermos bottle turned out to be better than I expected. It keeps cold liquids cold and hot beverages hot for most of the workday (with prechilling and preheating). It seems sturdy. The stopper is leak-proof, if you tighten it properly. Pouring is easy without removing the stopper. It is very light and short, but holds a decent amount. The strap is well made, secure, and easy to use to carry the bottle on your shoulder. Highly recommended!

4-0 out of 5 stars Don't overfill it
At first, I thought that I was unlucky and I got one that leaked. The trick is to not fill it all the way up. Just fill it to the lower metal lip inside the opening. It has not leaked since and I am quite happy with it.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not bad, if you like luke warm coffee
The nissan bottle keeps cold stuff cold really well, however it isn't the best at keeping things hot. It can't make it in a cold truck to the end of a day at work. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful sports bottle!
My husband bought this for me once I bought a spinning bike...and he rarely buys me anything. But this was wonderful. No more aftertaste from reusing plastic bottles plus the drink stays cold after many hours. Whenever we take a trip I am always sure to bring this along. Even after staying in a warm car for over 3 hours the drink, is still cool. Great product!

5-0 out of 5 stars Don't Leave Home Without It !
This Nissan insulated sports bottle is all that it is billed up to be for keeping your beverage cold for an afternoon or more. The thermos is almost unbreakable, a five year warranty, and has a ridged black rubber plastic for a sure grip. The smooth interior needs to be hand washed with sponge or cloth with mild detergent.

If taken the bottle on bike hikes, canoe trips and camping, and it always serves up a nice cold refreshing drink. The top remains securely attached until ready for use. The only thing I would like to change about the bottle, is to make it larger, say about a liter (25 ounces) or a quart (32 ounces) rather than the 18 ounce.

This bottle goes on every outdoor outing, either by bike, canoe or foot, it is easy to carry/pack and does what it is suppose to do, keep the water cold without spilling or breaking.

5-0 out of 5 stars I still can't believe it!!!
I purchased this item for my six year old to use in the car. It is easy to hold, easy to open and fits in the cup holder of her car seat. I filled it with chocolate milk along with two ice cubes for good measure, and we left for the day. She drank about half of it. This was Wednesday. I forgot it in the car until I wanted to use it again; it is now Saturday. I was afraid to open it, and wondered if I would ever get it clean. The milk was still ice cold, it poured out like it had just been filled. It was nothing short of a minor miracle. That bottle was in a black car, in the sun for three days and the contents was cold. I was so happy with this purchase that I bought the bottle for carbonated beverages and the coffee/tea/travel bottle.
These are the BEST, my collection of travel mugs, and I have so many are all going in the garbage. These products will pay for themselves...no more waste.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Daddy of all Hi-Tech Water Bottles!
I received this as a Christmas gift. As I am interested in technology in all forms, I thought it would be interesting to see just how this bottle compared to my old (plastic) bottle. Wow! The difference was amazing! I put some crushed ice in the bottle and filled it with water. Then I went outside to enjoy a nice day at the beach! After six hours out in the sun, I really needed a cold drink of water. When I popped the top, imagine my surprise to have little chunks of ice mixed in with the water. After six hours out in the Hawaiian sun - - that is an impressive statement about this bottle! The ribbed rubber grip on the side ensures no slippage from your hand. This a very well designed product that will serve you faithfully for years. This bottle is designed for cold beverages only. The only improvement that I could suggest is that it would be nice if Nissan would bring out a 1 Liter version of this bottle. ... Read more

This ingenious bucket chills wine or champagne indoors or outdoors and keeps it cold for up to six hours while eliminating messy melted ice and the wet ring an iced bottle leaves behind. Here's how it works: Inside the bottle chiller is a flexible ice pack. Place it in the freezer until it's frozen. (It can be frozen again and again for the life of the bottle chiller, which is virtually infinite.) Place the ice pack and the bottle-chiller's ring inside the bucket, along with the bottle. Twist the black plastic ring to snug it and the ice pack against the bottle. The ice pack will chill the beverage inside the bottle and keep it chilled. The bottle chiller stands 9-1/4 inches high, and its exterior is shiny chrome. To clean, wipe it with a cloth or sponge. --Fred Brack ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Lasted longer than my marriage
Noticed this mug while searching online for a French press/travel mug. My wife (soon to be ex-wife) and I bought a pair of these about 14 years ago. Used almost every day, they have performed flawlessly. This is a true vacuumed sealed unit and keeps coffee hot and drinkable about 4 hours with the drinking lid, longer if you use the full cover lid. Mine has been dropped numerous times over the years and has survived well.

In all this time, there are only two drawbacks I can think of. It's diameter, although very stable, it won't fit cup holders in many vehicles. And, if run through the dishwasher, a small amount water will sneak through the little hole in the bottom cover. Not a big deal, but it can dribble out on you while dinking (it can be removed to dry off).

Unlike my wife, this travel mug has remained true to me all these years.

4-0 out of 5 stars Wish it was better..
When it comes to thermal retention, this cup has far surpassed all other thermos mugs I have tried. I am a steady all day coffee drinker so I like to pre-treat my mug with hot water prior to filling it up with the nectar of the gods. I am continually amazed at the cups performance for the 5 years I have owned it.

I do have a gripe..These last couple of years I have noticed that if I thread the sipper lid one way, it leaks significantly. Probably wear on the sealing ring. I thread it for left handed grip but am now suffering the same problems. I just may resign myself to bying a new cup is all.

4-0 out of 5 stars great cup but watch out for the leaks
I drive truck for a living and was always buying coffee in a paper cup. I found I always got heartburn as I had to drink it so fast to enjoy it hot. Then I found this mug. It keeps it warm up to 6 hours. Great... no more heartburn. I ended up buying one for my wife, and my boss bought one for himself and his wife. The only problem is, that as the cup gets older, the seal starts to leak. My first cup is in the cupboard it leaks so bad and I now use my wife's cup. Lately it has started to leak also. I wish you could buy replacement seals.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hot, stable, and big
I am shopping for a new travel mug as I just left this 7+ year old mug at my kids school and I can't wait for it to turn up somewhere. This mug is absolutely the best. 7 years and no drips, unless the gasket is not seated correctly. I just wish I could have an even bigger mug so I can take more coffee with me in the morning. I'm looking at the bigger Thermos, but I loved this one so much, my decision is a tough one.

3-0 out of 5 stars Worked great for six years!
Unfortunately, I've had it seven. For the past year it's been dribbling into my lap. I wish I could fix it, cause I really liked this mug 'til it started leakin'. It fits the large cupholder in my truck, it's fairly splashproof, and I can even put on the solid lid and carry it in my motorcycle saddlebag. Sip-lid leakage seems to be a common problem, so I'll probably shop for an alternative. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The best small food thermos on the market
We have two of these Nissan Thermos 9.5 ounce containers. They have been going to school with my child daily for the past 2 1/2 years. When you pre-heat them properly with boiling water for 5 minutes, this container keeps noodles HOT for at least 4 hours. Ours are dented and scuffed and generally abused, but they still function perfectly!

Don't pay any attention to the obviously disgruntled person that left all three 1 star reviews--seems they don't know how to read the 2 line directions that came with the container!

5-0 out of 5 stars Add boiling water for 5 minutes to hold heat!
The ONLY time I haven't had the heat held by this thermos is when I do not preheat it with water as suggested by the maker. I own three of these. I started with one, then found it to be so superior to other types that I bought two more. They are worth every penny. They will hold the heat of the food better than any thermos I've tried, BUT ONLY IF YOU FIRST PREHEAT IT WITH BOILING WATER AND CAP IT FOR AT LEAST 5 MINUTES! This will warm the thermos and allow it to maintain the temperature of the hot food for several hours. I pour out the water just before I fill the thermos. It can get so hot, in fact, that if I pack a lunch at 7 am using this method soup can be too hot to eat. I usually fill it with soup, but I've also tried left over Chinese food and spaghetti. It stays hotter with soup, and very warm with the other dryer foods.

This is a durable stainless steel thermos - no glass. It is expensive, but it works so much better than other styles. It is a convenient size. The lid seal comes off for convenient cleaning. The wide mouth is easy for spoon navigation.

If you do not preheat it with boiling water (I microwave the water in a cup) then it holds heat better than any plastic one, but it will not stay as hot. Remember, the plastic ones don't either. I've tried preheating plastic thermos' and they don't seem to ever hold the heat till noon no matter what.

4-0 out of 5 stars Kid perfect
I am very happy with the thermos. Now my kids will be able to eat hot lunch from now on. I spent too much money on other brands that would just keep the food cold no matter how much I followed instructions on the product. I followed the same instructions with this nissan product and the results are hot lunches for my kids. It is easy to use and very compact that it fits perfectly in any lunchbox. I highly recommend this product.

5-0 out of 5 stars Add this one to your cart!!!
I have several Nissan Products and they all outperform any of the others I have tried in the past. This product is awesome for 4 Hours or so if...
#1 Read and follow directions on preheating. (5 minutes with boiling water well capped)
#2 Use common sense, If you are in cold weather place this on or in a thin cloth until ready to use. If you set it on a cold surface that is solid for hours, you are leeching cold into the container since it is solid.
#3 Sounds dumb I know but I have a friend who was doing this.
When your food is ready to put in, immediatley pour out the boiling water and replace with your thoroughly heated food, then immediatley cap. (A few minutes can mean all the world)

5-0 out of 5 stars Small and Functional

5-0 out of 5 stars The next best thing since the microwave!
Just got mine and I have been using it for a couple of weeks. I wanted to give it a good test before writing this review.

I have used mine to carry hot tea to work at 8AM, by 5PM the tea is still hot, this far exceeded what I was demanding for in this type of bottle. I have also used it to carry cold beverages like fruit juices and it does keep them cold for several hours.

One observation: the instructions point out that the bottle might be "damaged" if you clean it in a dishwasher, I thought: "how can this be when it is designed to hold liquids at over 100 degrees F?" so I gave it a try and no problems! The only thing that I hand-wash is the rubber gasket from the main lid and a small plastic cover that fits on top.

I highly recommend it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Greater than it looks
I a bought this for work to carry coffee. At the end of the day coworkers complain it's too hot to drink. [the donut shop] has ruined my tongue so it's perfect for me.

Just remember it's bigger than it may appear. I holds 1.69 quarts, or 9, 6oz mugs, or 3.5, 15oz mugs just a tad above a personal thermos.

5-0 out of 5 stars Terrific for many purposes
I, being one person, am often unable to consume an entire pot of coffee. This thermos, however, allows me to brew a full pot of coffee *AND KEEP IT ON MY DESK FOR TWO DAYS* -- it remains steaming hot. Furthermore, I have found that after the coffee is no longer hot, it goes well with kahlua, ice, and cream. -grin-

The thermos itself is larger than the picture really lets on. It's big-ish, about a third the size of the briefcase I carry to work. It does come with a shoulder strap however, and i can comfortably carry it under my arm with the briefcase on the same shoulder.

I haven't tried using it for soup or the other things the manufacturer suggests. It is simply fabulous for coffee however.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just plain EXCELLENT
I've had this for years now. It's rugged, not very heavy, and works great. It has kept coffee hot and tasting fresh for over a day. It seals tightly and doesn't leak. It cleans easily (you can put it in the dishwasher) and there's never any smell or taste left after you've washed it. The handle is "handy" and the removable strap is even better.

A must for travelling coffee addicts like myself!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Product
I own a slightly different model of this same product. I've had it for six or seven years. It's very rugged and the heat retention is incredible. A liquid has never gone cold on me, even after 12 or more hours. This is surely the ultimate thermos. ... Read more

Virtually unbreakable, this lightweight, vacuum-insulated thermos travels to work or recreation easily, and for hours afterward, coffee, tea, or broth will still be hot. Or lemonade, iced tea, or a sports drink will still be chilled. Tapered toward the top and slim enough (9-1/2 inches high, 2-5/8 inches in diameter at bottom) to safely pour with one hand, it slips into a briefcase, handbag, or backpack. Or, slip its removable black nylon strap over a shoulder. Pouring is a snap: twist off the cup, which holds 4 ounces of liquid, twist the stopper a few turns and pour through a no-drip slot (there's one for righthanders, another for lefthanders) without removing the stopper. Fine threading ensures the stopper seals tightly, while the exterior has a handsome satin finish. The smooth interior cleans with sponge or cloth, and preheating or prechilling with hot or cold water is recommended. --Fred Brack ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Its so good I bought another
I have owned this thermos for a year, and I rely on it. It is an integral part of my daily routine. I warm it up in the morning with boiling water, let it sit for about 5-10 minutes, then fill it up with coffee. Six hours later, the coffee is still hotter than most restaurants serve.

When I accidently destroyed the thermos (through owner stupidity, not product quality - this is NOT a wimpy product) I immediately bought an identical one.

This IS the thermos you are looking for. Buy it, you will not be sorry.

5-0 out of 5 stars Personal perfection
This insulated bottle is the perfect item for buisy people who enjoy their own hot or cold beverage in a moments notice. It keeps coffie piping hot and cold drinks refrigorator cold for many hours. This bottle is the perfect size either to carry along with the shoulder strap or to fit it in your brief case. This is a great thermos and I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a gift or to someone that size is a consideration. Over all this is a GREAT Product. ... Read more

This set would bring joy to any coffee lover. The 1.1-quart combination coffee press and vacuum-insulated thermos makes it possible to create European-style coffee at the office or campground and keep it hot. Simply spoon in ground coffee, add boiling water, place the lid on the press with the plunger up, wait four minutes, push the plunger down slowly, and--presto!--your coffee is ready.

Lightweight and virtually unbreakable, the press stands 10 inches high and has a satin-finish stainless-steel exterior, easily cleaned stainless-steel interior, and a tough plastic top and bottom. The cappuccino creamer is an ingenious device for frothing milk in just seconds. Grasp the plastic ball and move it up and down. Hidden inside, a screen at the bottom of a rod attached to the ball forces air into the milk, creating froth. The all-stainless-steel creamer stands 8-3/4 inches high and is dishwasher-safe. --Fred Brack ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Great froth,but
the coffee press is flimsy, especially the screen. The screen/plate combo lets grounds get through, no matter how you grind the beans. If you want one cup of coffee, use a little over a cup of water, and leave a little in the pot. The milk frother is great, though, and makes foam as thick or thin as you want it. I give the whole shebang 3 thumbs up out of 5. ... Read more

Virtually unbreakable, this lightweight, vacuum-insulated thermos travels to work or recreation easily, and for hours afterward, coffee, tea, or broth will still be hot. Or lemonade, iced tea, or a sports drink will still be chilled. With its classic thermos shape (11 inches high, 3-3/4 inches in diameter) and satin finish, it's stylish and practical. Pouring is a snap: twist off the durable, black plastic cup, which holds 4 ounces of liquid, twist the stopper a few turns and pour through a no-drip slot (there's one for righthanders, another for lefthanders) without removing the stopper. 5-0 out of 5 stars Piping hot or ice cold, your choice!
This thermos is fantastic. I used to use it to take coffee to work in the morning, and if I forgot to clean it out that night, it was STILL WARM the next morning. That's 24 hours of thermal insulation.

Of course, it works just as well for cold. Iced tea, ice water, stays icy cold. Be careful not to put too much ice in, because it won't melt anytime soon, and you'll wind up having only ice with not much to drink.

The only drawbacks are size and weight. Its perfect for a road trip, trip to beach etc, but not something you'll want to be lugging around with you while hiking or anything. With this in consideration, you won't be disappointed with its performance. Highly recommended!

5-0 out of 5 stars Wow!
I just recently bought the 1 quart Nissan, and I feel in love with it immediately! First of all, there is no glass in it at all, so no need to worry about it breaking!(it happened to me once) The true test for me came when the coffee machine in my office broke down, I brought coffee from home and it was still burning my tongue many hours after I had first poured me a cup of joe! I highly recommend this thermos. Quite possibly the best thermos ever created!

We received this Nissan bottle as a wedding gift seven years ago and we first thought, okay... But we've used this thing EVERYWHERE. Hot stuff stays hot forever, and cold stuff, well, we'd go snorkeling down in the Florida Keys in July and this thing would sit on the hot sand hour after hour, and we'd finally get out of the ocean, sit down, open this thing up and it was SHOCKING how cold the water from it was. It's worth the money, and I'm actually buying it tonight as a wedding gift for some friends! ... Read more
