I Like This Iron-BUT
First I purchased D2000, the auto-turn off didn't work. When you pressed the button for 2 seconds to turn it off manually, well that didn't work either. I called cust. serv. They don't even have the model listed, but she did have the same manual that comes with the iron. So I got the D2020. Well it has the same problem. Since CS was of no help, does anyone know what I might be doing wrong? As for the iron, it is the best I have owned except for having to unplug it to turn it off.

Great Iron!
This iron is great!!! I read another review which stated that the dial is loose and blah, blah, blah and this is so far from the truth!!! It heats up quickly and reheats quickly after auto shut-off. The settings are never wrong. It glides smoothly over the clothes. I can't think of one negative thing about this iron.

Decent Iron... while it was alive.
The B&D Digital Advantage started out as a great iron, although it did have some flaws in the design, like the steam dial moves while you are ironing therefore is always changing the steam setting. Also, the iron does an awful lot of "spitting." It seems to have a hard time regulating steam. Last but not least, it died on me after only 5 months. Therefore I can only dub this iron a piece of crap. I have used a lot of irons in my day, and this one is by far the worst yet.

Great iron for the price
This iron works great. At first I was sceptical of Black & Decker and the only review wasn't good, but after using it I am really impressed. It heat up quickly. It took about 30 seconds to heat up to the hotest temp. And the digital dial is great also. No more guessing. The auto clean feature is helpful so there is no rusting or calcium buildups like the $20 college irons. It steams up nicely and performs great. There are problably better irons out there, but for $50 you can't bet it. Who wants to spend more than that anyway, it's just ironing.

BD Digital Advantage Iron - D2020
Just bought this iron yesterday new from a local Target store and am dissappointed. The adjustable steam setting dial is so loose that it moves when you are ironing. (Not good - design or product defect?) Also, seems to spit water when ironing - and using tap water or distilled doesn't seem to change the amount of water spitting. Also, the water fill intake latch cover is poorly designed and could be torn off quite easily; you have to handle very carefully when refilling the iron with water. Just like Mom's
I bought this Classic Black & Decker Iron for my elderly mother a couple of months ago. It is almost exactly like her old black iron I remember from my childhood. The steam button on her old iron was red. This one is an orange color, but other than that, it pretty much looks like her old iron.

This iron also performs like Mom's old iron. The first time she used it, she immediately put the setting on "5" for ironing cotton. She remembered that "6" was too hot for her cotton clothes (with her old iron), even though the iron says "6" is the number for ironing cotton. She was right. I ironed a pair of shorts and it did a very good job.

This iron has not leaked, but it might be a good idea to iron a few strokes on your ironing board or some spare cloth if you use water for steam, to make sure it doesn't spit or leak. But that is only at first, then you should be good to go. The cord is of average length, like the old irons. And like I said above, the iron gets extremely hot on high settings so you might want to put it on the lowest steam setting at first to test it.

I am giving this iron five stars because it is what it says it is - a classic iron. I would rather have an iron like this than any of the weird looking new-fangled irons. Thanks to Black & Decker for bringing back a small part of my childhood, and making my mother happy.

For 13 bucks, this iron is a steamin' machine!
OK, for this price you're getting a relatively small iron.But it's a real iron.Much bigger than a travel iron.

Anyway, I needed a spare iron for quick de-wrinkling sessions at my girlfriend's place.(I live out of a duffle bag when I'm there and she doesn't own an iron!)I own a top-o-the-line B&D iron which I love, so I went for this inexpensive "younger cousin."

Bottom line:I recommend it.Once it gets going (a couple of minutes tops), it really whoooshes out the steam!I fill it up, crank it up, and use it for Dockers and Timberland cotton shirts.The steam blows through so well I only have to do one side!It's a time-saving wrinkle killer!

As for finesse jobs on other fabrics, I couldn't tell you.But for hammering out wrinkles in cotton, it's great.I recommend it and it's so inexpensive, you can't go wrong. ... Read more

Do not recommend
The iron worked fine for a couple of weeks, it irons OK, is good weight. At the end of the 2nd week, then the plastic handle you are supposed to hold to retract the cord, broke. Without it, the cord is can not be retracted. One other issue I have with it is water spills - whenever you change the position of the iron from vertical to horizontal. Quick Heat. Instant Heat
This is the best iron. Pretty light, but heavy enough to make a good crease. Also this is the quickest heating iron I have ever owned. This iron is so reliable. I am very impressed with the quality of the iron. Definate thumbs up!!!

Worst Iron ever bought
I've had two previous black and decker irons that had worked ok, but this one has got to be the worst one. I bought this iron and used for about 6 months very sporadically, sometimes I would go days without using it. And just two days ago it stopped working. It shorted out. And I tried unplugging it and letting it sit for a while but it just died. Awful purchase, I honestly believe Black & Decker is not making the irons from durable materials like they did before which is a shame. I will not buy another iron from this brand anymore! ... My SteamXpress 680 is fabulous!
I looked up this iron to tell my mom the model number, as she has had one bad iron after another and I am recommending this one to her. I am so surprised to see these negative reviews, I guess that most people who are pleased with their product don't feel the need to post a positive statement! So I will speak up in this iron's defense. We have used this exact iron for 2 1/2 years. It has never leaked, it warms up instantly and steams like a champ. And I must add that I have dropped the iron probably about 20 times over 2 1/2 years, and the only thing that happens is the blue knob falls off, but it snaps right back on. Other than that it continues to work perfectly. So I definitely describe it as durable and recommend it!

It stops working after a couple years!!!
I have had the very same problem that others listed. After a few years of use, the on switch just refuses to stay in the on position. What horrible quality!!!

Won't buy Black & Decker again
I had the same problem as others did. After about 2 years, the iron won't stay on in the upright (veritical) position. It turns off. It stays on in the horizontal position, while ironing, as long as the cord doesn't jiggle. As soon as you set it down to move clothing, it clicks and shuts off. The steam was good on the iron.....but I will NOT buy another Black & Decker iron again !!!

What Am I Doing Wrong!!!???
For some reason I can't iron without the water leaking all over the clothes! I tried ironing curtains....couldn't seem to get it hot enough to even get the wrinkles out. Without getting it too hot for the material. Would appreicate some HELP!

This is not a durable product
This iron is such a waste. I have had it for about a year and it worked fine. All of a sudden, the on switch stopped working. In order to iron, you have to shake the iron, wait for the light to come on, hold the on switch, hope that it will heat up and iron while holding the switch. That is way too much work in order to iron It has an automatic turn off, but it hardly works. It doesn't have a steam button, either. Just a spray button which you have to push several times. Thats right. This card has it all. It's cheap, owns, and great for games.

A hot stone would work better
After ironing clothes since I was 10, I have now experienced the worst iron I've ever used by far. This iron takes an infinity to heat up, the "smart" steam system that's supposed to sense how much steam you need, is pretty stupid - translate - nothing needs steam unless you shake the iron first. Heavy and cumbersome to use, it really doesn't even remove the wrinkles at the appropriate settings and burns at higher settings. It also spits and stains materials. The angle for water access is also difficult to use. Even when the iron is turned off, it has an annoying ticking sound that I can hear across the room and I'm hard of hearing! I've tried giving it a couple of months and I hate it even more. I would have returned it if I had been smart enough to save the box. I've just ordered a new iron and I won't even give this one to Charity - that would be an insult.. ... Read more
