The brilliantly simple design of the Hamilton Beach commercial manual citrus juicer is as classic-looking as it is effective. Created with rack-and-pinion gearing that allows you to exert up to 2,000 pounds of pressure with very moderate work, the unit extracts maximum amounts of juice from oranges, grapefruits, lemons, and limes. Pith, pulp, peel, and oil are left behind in the strainer cone, which is removable for easy cleanup. Between juicings, the juicer's handle stays in the "up" position, which makes it easy to quickly add more fruit. A swing-out drip cup at the bottom is adequate for small citrus fruits; it also swivels to the side to make way for glasses up to 5-1/2 inches high and swings back into place to collect drips. Designed for rugged use, the juicer has a heavy-duty metal construction with acid-resistant chrome and enamel finishes. It is suitable to a heavy-duty café kitchen or a high-volume coffee counter, and its Sure Grip non-skid base keeps it still while protecting the countertop. Measuring 7 inches wide by 9 deep, it stands 19-1/2 inches high. Hamilton Beach includes a one-year warranty. --Emily Bedard ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars One of the worst juicers on the planet!!!!
This was absolutely the worst kitchen appliance I've ever bought. How someone can say this machine is quiet is beyond me! This juicer was a horror to work with! Noisy as heck, a total waste of money, time, and good fruit and veggies. Most of the fruit was stuck in the pulp bin or running down the side of the machine instead of where it should have my glass as juice!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Product
I found this to be a good product for the price.

1-0 out of 5 stars Never buy this item
This is the worst product I ever baught.
Vey hard to clean. Extraction is not good.

1-0 out of 5 stars Too many disapointments to make up for the pleasure
This is a serious juicer with lots of power, but there are so many "not good" pieces that I wish I could return it.

* It's noisy, noisy, noisy - you cannot talk over it.
* The way the pulp is expelled, a big lump gets caught in the lid - nasty surprise after you (think you've) emptied the pulp bin.
* More surprise in the pulp arena, it throws away chunks of fruit! We sent thru the last of the cranberries (maybe 6-7 of them)& not even a trickle of juice came thru! Sure enough, there they were on the top of the pulp bin.
* It needs 3 hands to take it apart - two to lift & one to hold the machine down...and
* Once you've got it apart, it doesn't nestle neatly back together - which is why we can't return it - we pushed down too hard on the grasping lever - now the lid is broken.

It's also pretty big which means it has to live on the counter top - I was semi-aware of this when I bought it, but still twas a surprize to see just *how* big the darn thing is.

Oh well - live and learn.

2-0 out of 5 stars wow
took 2 minutes to make juice and half an hour to clean machine....does this make sence!!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars My best juicer ever!
I have had 3 juicers in my life, electric, hand press, etc. Each requires tough arm muscles with strong wrist that can press and squeeze hard enough to get the juice out. After a while, since I am left-handed, I noticed my left arm got bigger than the other. But I don't want to give up juicing since it taste so good and healthy. So, I went shopping several weeks ago for a juicer that can do the work for me and make my life easier so I thought of commercial juicers instead, most of them range from 280 to 650, not to mention some that goes for thousands of dollars. And finally, I found the "Hamilton Beach Comm'l Juicer", had it for few days now and it produces one of the best and smoothest orange juice I ever had. This unit is quite big and heavy for my kitchen countertop but it looks very nice and it is so worth it. If you are willing to convert to a fastforward juicing at home for your family and guests, this item is perfect and has the lowest price of its quality by far. For your information, I slip my finger a few times while the thing is running so fast "ouch, ouch, ouch", but my fingers never bled, practice will make perfect juicing. Overall, I am very happy and satisfied with my new "Hamilton Beach Comm'l Juicer". Juicing all the way, everyday for the family! ... Read more

With a 350-watt motor, Hamilton Beach's juice extractor canhandle a wide variety of juicing tasks, including juicing citrusfruits, most vegetables, and more. It features a sturdy stainless-steelcutter/strainer, which separates the pulp from the juice whenextracting. Operating the 11-1/2-by-8-1/4-by-7-1/2-inch (height bywidth by depth) juicer is easy. Choose the fruit or vegetable you wantto juice and put it in the food chute on top of the machine, then usethe pusher (contoured to fit the chute) to start the juicing. There's aspout on one side where the juice comes out--simply slide a glass orother container underneath and it will catch every drop. The safetylatches on either side of the juicer must be locked in place beforeoperating to keep the juicer from starting at an unfortunate moment.Encased in shiny plastic, the juicer looks nice on the counter--thoughit's small enough to fit in most cabinets--and it comes with a spoon, acleaning brush for the strainer, and a recipe/instruction booklet. Thepulp bin and lid are dishwasher-safe. --A.J. Rathbun ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Hamilton Beach Portfolio Juicer
I was excited about this juicer when I read it had a space saving design...and it looked like it could be the first juicer reasonably portable for some traveling. know what? Na-ha. It's not as small as it appears from photos but it's still the smallest and lightest juicer I've picked up. I could stuff it into a padded travel bag I suppose.

The chute is a little too narrow - most carrots I have to slice in half long ways. It does seem powerful and the carrots get grated up pretty well. After only one use it starts to get stained with carrot juice (happens to most juicers though) and manual states carrots will permanently stain unit. Haven't yet tried to bleach parts or anything. In dishwasher the pulp bin peice's stains did not come out but this part is a tinted color so not so obvious. Other parts looked okay.

Most importantly - the juice. Unfortunately like most if you're trying to strain all the pulp - again as with most low end juicers - there's a lot of it. Clean up is pretty easy as is assembly/dissasembly. If you like the quickness of the centrifugal type juicers AND want more pulp free juice quantity -get an Omega 500, 1000 or 9000. The reason is that the pulp gets spun around a steel straining basket extracting more juice. It is one of the few that have this feature (sadly). I have for now given up on all the low end juicers (tried most of them) because you just don't get enough juice out of them and the remaining pulp is too damp. I currently own an Omega 8001 - I like it but it is more work than I want to get rich and bountiful juice so may go back to the Omega 1000 type. Fanatics claim about these studies "proving" the Green Life/Power juicer is the best but I also had a doctor look over the report and when you read it examine those bar charts carefully - it isn't that conclusive.
The study actually shows that a little oxidation from centrifugal juicers is not that bad. Good luck! ... Read more
