Amazon.com Review

Tidy, cordless, and easy to put into action, this Panasonic ice cream maker is a refreshing alternative to its hulking all-in-one countertop cousins. Though it requires more steps than the models where you throw in ingredients and go, this little maker is both smart and efficient, making up to 3 cups of ice cream or sorbet in a few hours. Combining a stainless steel bowl and a battery-powered mixing unit, the appliance features a dual-fin stirring spatula to thoroughly mix ingredients during freezing. A microprocessor gauges the consistency of the dessert as it hardens, so no monitoring is necessary. The battery pack is compact and removable, and the other components feel sturdy and well designed.

Included with the ice cream maker is a clear step-by-step instruction guide and a colorful booklet of recipes to get you started. Most of these require mixing or beating of ingredients before placement in the freezer bowl, but the labor is far from intensive. Once ingredients are ready, simply turn on the power, put the bowl in the freezer, and come back in 3 to 5 hours. Impressively compact for easy storage, the ice cream maker measures just 5-1/4 inches high and 6-1/2 inches in diameter. Panasonic includes a one-year warranty.--Emily Bedard ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Exceptional Product
This is a great appliance. It cooks very fast, and is efficient as well. It is well made, and will far outlast the Black and Decker unit I had to dismantle and recycle (since parts would have cost more than the unit).

As far as toaster ovens go, it is well sized and an exceptional value for the price. Consumer Reports rated it very highly.

It is true that the back cooks faster than the front, don't overload it and everything cooks evenly (however the only time I've noticed this is with 4 slices of toast - the front ones being a little lighter).

It is also true that the appliance emits light when cooking - if that is your biggest problem, get a life.

It is not true that you have to press the time button N times to add time. Like most electronic devices, hold the button down and it auto increments.

It is true that temperature settings are graded in steps, not a full gradient. But, in a toaster oven temperature really is not critical to have to set within small gradients.

I do a lot of research before buying products, and am very happy with this purchase. Would purchase it as a gift, and am glad to have this at home.

4-0 out of 5 stars Panasonic Infared Toaster Oven
This is a wonderful little oven. It's great for toast, reheating left overs and convenience foods. It can be used as well for baking casseroles and meats. Meals for one to four can be prepared in it, cooked by the preprogrammed menus or by temperature selection. Using the latter, I've baked salmon filets, lean beef patties and a noodle casserole in it. It takes about 30-35% less time to cook an item than in an ordinary oven. It also uses 1300 watts as opposed to the usual 1500 of most units. Best of all there is no preheating, which also saves time and energy. It is a nice size as well, fitting perfectly on my stove top under the exhaust fan. Note! The instructions give detailed safety precautions in regard to use. I'm careful not to have a burner operating when the toaster is on. Otherwise I move it elsewhere. Having used it for less than a week, I may rate it higher. There are a few drawbacks, however, that caused me to give it a 4 this time. Panasonic does not have a cook book other than the instruction manual, which isn't very detailed. Cooking in the oven is by experiment as to time and doneness. Also, it is advised to use only metal pans as opposed to heat resistant glass. I called Panasonic and was told the latter might break because of the intensity of heat and being too close to the heating element. I have used stainless steel pans instead of aluminum and found them to work quite well. In cooking meats or fish it is suggested that it be wrapped in foil. I prefer not using foil, although I did cover salmon loosely with it to shelter the unit from any spattering. Overall, I highly recommend this oven.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not bad, but........................
Overall, a nice "little" toaster oven. Compact in size, but great for small amounts of food or a few pieces of toast. It might take you a while to get used to the fact that the heat is generated by "bulbs" as opposed to the more conventional heating element, but this compact oven does a very nice job. My only reservation about this item is long term reliability. Construction is a bit "light weight" but fit and finish are good. I had the unit only 2 months before the heat bulbs stopped working. The unit was still in warranty, and Panasonic repaired it and had it back to me in about 10 or 12 days. The only cost to me was shipping to their repair depot. Panasonic's phone support is SLOW. If you ever have to contact them, expect to wait at least 10 to 15 minutes before you get to talk to a real, live person. Once you do get them on the line, they are very helpful and polite.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for office and dorm
I was skeptical, but all of the positive feedback encouraged me to purchase the first one for the office lunchroom. I cannot believe what a perfect purchase this was! No pre-heating necessary - I hadn't truly thought about how convenient that would be until I used it the first time in the middle of a busy afternoon. I can't hear the timer from my office so I usually return to my perfectly cooked food well after it's shut itself off automatically. Have never burned my lunch or anyone else's! And it's impressive with re-heating leftovers from yesterday's restaurant lunch. I'm so happy with it's convenience and performance that I purchased one for my nephew to take to college with him in the fall.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love it
Does a fantastic job for us. We use it for toast, reheating, and other simple everyday jobs and it works great. It is extremely quick and consistent.

Here are a some points that might make your experience different than ours.

1. It doesn't hold that much. It is fine for my family of 3. However if you have a large family it might not be right for you.

2. It looks a bit different than any other appliance I have. At first I did not like the look that much. However when I saw how well it worked, it quickly grew on me.

3. I was surprised at how hot the top of the machine got. You definitely don't want to put anything on top of it. Make sure you have a space that includes a few clear inches about it.

Again it fits us very well and we love the thing. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars two tries--neither one ever shuts off...possible fire hazard
two strikes....i really wanted to like this little cooker but Panasonic seems to have quality control problems.

I suppose its possible that they came from a bad production run, but I give up with Panasonic.

4-0 out of 5 stars Review of panasonic 3 cup rice cooker.
Some thoughts about the Panasonic SR-W06PA three cup rice cooker which I bought last month.

It does a fine job with all kinds of rice, including long grain brown. The unit is simple, logically and well designed and only has one switch: on/off. Clean up is easy enough, especially if you soak the inner container for awhile before swabbing with a sponge.

There is no warming function after the rice has cooked -- the unit gives a quiet chime and powers off. This has not been a problem for me but if you want to keep rice warm in the middle of a meal, just switch the unit "on" for two minutes and turn it off. Alternatively, buy a more expensive cooker.

To re-heat left-over rice, use the steaming plate and put the rice on top of it. This works far better than trying to revive cold rice with a microwave oven and only takes a few minutes. The steamer works very well for vegetables -- would be worth having it just for that alone.

The cooker cooks one to three cups of dry rice -- more than enough for four people (probably six). The unit is small and compact in size (a 7" circle -- 9" counting handles -- that is 8" high with lid on) and easy to store.

Be aware that a "cup" measure (included) is actually about 6 ounces in volume. That still makes far more rice than I can eat at one sitting. I'd recommend buying a plastic or wood rice paddle (not provided) -- a wooden or nylon spoon would do -- to protect the non-stick coating.

The only product glitch is a printing error in the instructions. The user is told to add one cup of rice and one cup of water. Skeptically, I tried using one and a half cups of water and had to steam the resulting under cooked rice (but even that mistake turned out pretty well). The correct proportions are 1 rice to 2 water -- just like mom told you.

The instructions also tell you to soak the rice before cooking, something most European Americans do not do. Though I do soak my rice, it is not necessary to do so to produce satisfactory results.

I've been eating more brown rice since I bought the steamer because its so easy to make now. If you think cooking rice on the stovetop is easy, try a rice cooker. Just put the rice, water and a pinch of salt in and turn it on. No timing, no fiddling with the heat, and perfect results every time.

I have had good luck with Panasonic products in the past -- good value and reliability for the money. This rice cooker
appears to be no exception.

This sophisticated thermo pot from Panasonic safely and automatically boils water for beverages and food, then keeps it warm throughout the day. Sized for 3.2 quarts, the pot features a 27-minute boiling time and three distinct keep-warm settings--208 degrees F for soups, 185 degrees F for tea, and 140 degrees F for baby formula. The dispenser is electronically controlled with the simple touchpad--this couldn't be easier to operate--while a separate button lets you lock the dispenser to keep little hands safe. The controls also feature a long boil setting, a reboil setting, and a 6-hour timer.

Easy to use and structurally handy, the thermo pot is compact and tidy with a full-access opening, removable lid, and useful handle. The whole pot swivels 360 degrees on its base, and a floating indicator make tracking water levels simple. The power cord removes for storage, and the nonstick interior is clearly marked with appropriate fill lines. For added safety, Panasonic builds in overheat protection that automatically cuts power if the unit boils dry. Save both space and rice-cooking frustration with this nonstick Panasonic rice cooker/steamer. Built with a 10-cup capacity, the 600-watt cooker turns out 4 to 20 cups of rice at a time and keeps it warm and moist for up to four hours. A clear plastic steamer basket gives you the option of simultaneously cooking vegetables, fish, and tofu. Designed for minimal sticking and easy cleanup, the cooker's removable nonstick-coated pan is clearly marked with cup and liter measurements. The tempered-glass lid is made for durability with a phenolic handle. It fits both the steamer basket and the pan and lets you track cooking progress without releasing steam. Operation of the cooker is simple. A basic knob with an orange indicator sets the unit cooking. When the rice is finished, it automatically switches to the keep-warm function. A simple appliance without a lot of bells and whistles, the cooker has its functional focus in the right place. As a bonus, the brushed exterior looks attractive on the countertop. It measures 10-1/4 by 12-1/4 by 10-2/3 inches and comes with a measuring cup and rice spoon. 4-0 out of 5 stars Great for rice and veggie steaming, one problem.
Great rice cooker. Recieved this as a Christmas present, was quite excited. I eat lots of rice so this makes doing so easy. I had built up a love/hate relationship with rice. As much as I loved to eat rice with most of my meals, I had grown to hate cooking it. Always afraid it would burn lest I check on and stir the stuff every few minutes and when using brown rice as I often do, it was quite often for 30 to 45 minutes having to run in to the kitchen every 5 minutes. Using the top tray to steam veggies is quite a good way at keeping the counter uncluttered, no pot with burned on rice to scrub and less mess. Now, what I dislike about it, only one thing. It boils over just about every time, so there is the boil over mess to contend with. Really, my only complaint, but kind of a big one to me. After having my Rice Cooker for a few months I have figured out the cure for the boil over mess. Leave the steamer atop the pot and you should be mess free. Even when not steaming beautiful Broccoli or scrumptious Squash, leave the steamer on. Easy fix! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Efficient, very easy to clean, but plastic can break!
After three months of household use, I decided to downwardly revise my original review because a large piece of plastic suddenly broke off the feed chute during use, making the machine unusable.

There is a 12 month warranty with Panasonic and I am returning the clear top piece for replacement. Still, this should not have happened during normal use and I am wondering if it might indicate a design problem.

Based on other reviews, I am planning to purchase the Stainless Steel Waring Juicer, also sold through Amazon.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good juice.
This is my first juicer so I'm no expert. I've also only just started using it, so maybe I'll come up with problems and downgrade later, but as yet, I'm completely satisfied, and even better, delighted. The juicer has capably and smoothly (hehehe) handled every fruit or vegetable I've had the inclination to throw at it.

the only (very small) complaint is that if you add more fruit or vegetable while the juicer is running, it tends to spit a bit. Basically, you have to wait until it's completely finished juicing what you gave it and be prepared to fit the pusher in very quickly when you add more. It's not a big problem.

Aside from that, the juice was foamy (which I like) and not too pulpy (which I also like).

It's also relatively easy to clean. I was a bit nervous since almost every set of reviews for every juicer has at least one whining about how difficult they are to clean, but this was no harder to clean than a food processor (and easier in at least one way - no huge, slashy, curvey, very sharp, knife-like gizmo to wash).

4-0 out of 5 stars A good juicer for everyday usage
I had this juicer for about month now, so far I liked it. I only use it to juice carrot, apple and celery. I will expand my choices on the way. But I know it will not be good for oranges and grapefuites because of the working mechanism. A fun machine to work with. Give four star because I have no idea how long will this machine lasts.

3-0 out of 5 stars GOOD FOR STARTERS BUT NOT FOR THE LONG RUN
I am the owner of 4 juicers and this was the first one I bought.

PLUSES--This is only juicer I know of where the strainer/blade can be cleaned while the juicer is running. There is a small brush supplied which goes into a small slot on top (NEVER run a juicer while disassembled. And please teach your kids to ALWAYS unplug any juicer before opening.) The strainer blade is the most time-consuming part to clean on a juicer. By hand it would take 2-3 minutes alone. However, with the Panasonic, it's done in TEN SECONDS! I was able to clean the entire machine in under 2-1/2 minutes. An excellent feature for those who want to juice but don't have a lot of time. Hint: Line the ejection basket with a plastic bag--will also save time.

Also, because of its compact size and weight, it is ideal for traveling, you can lift it with one hand.

MINUSES--The Panasonic is far from the ultimate machine. The motor is weak. My first one, the motor burned out in 2 years. Although it was fixed easily for ten bucks, it was never as strong. Same with the 2nd one I purchased. You will need to cut the vegetables small to extend motor life.

Also it is a high RPM machine, which is good for hard produce like carrots and apples. However on soft fruit like melons and citrus, it mixes too much air and produces a lot of foam. And you MUST peel the skin off citrus or you will break the housing. There are a lot of phytonutrients in the skin that you will miss out on.

BOTTOM LINE--for occasional juicing, it is a bargain at under $100. However, if you wish to make an investment, there are other juicers. There is no one ideal juicer. The best juicer for greens will perform lousy with hard produce. The strongest machines may be hard to clean or bulky or heavy. Use the internet to research.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great find!
Quite simply - it works. Nice design, efficient and easy clean-up. High quality construction. ... Read more

This electric fish roaster cooks smaller whole fish, dried fish, or fillets right on the countertop in less time than it takes to roast in a conventional oven. The 900-watt electric heater, along with a rack that is height-adjustable for the thickness of the fish, produces perfect results every time with crispy charred skin on the outside and tender, juicy flesh inside. The durable, stainless-steel grill supports fish that are a maximum of 12 inches long. A built-in timer offers a preheat mode of 5 minutes and can be set for up to 15 minutes of cooking time before sounding its ring. A catalytic filter keeps smoke and odors to a minimum and a water tray below the grill, for use when roasting fatty or marinated fish, also helps to reduce smoke. After cooking, the fish roaster has a removable rack and water tray that clean up easily with soap and water. The lid also detaches and the heating element can be wiped down with a damp cloth. This electric roaster has plastic handles on the lid and sides that stay cool during cooking; however, the stainless-steel exterior gets incredibly hot so exercise caution. Measuring 6 by 16-2/7 by 13-3/5 inches, the roaster's body does take up a large amount of counter space but stores in a cabinet when not in use. The unit also includes a steaming rack for vegetables by themselves or in combination with cooking rice. The colorful LCD monitor and soft-touch control panel are easy to read and use, with a panel of settings that includes chicken stew, rib stew, sweet potatoes, and vegetable rice.

With a 1.9-quart capacity, the machine makes 2 to 10 6-ounce cups of cooked rice at a time and can be preset up to 13 hours in the future. Its nonstick pan, which is thick and marbled, eliminates sticking, cleans up quickly, and is clearly marked with measurement levels. The cooker also includes a measuring cup, a rice scoop, a steaming rack, a soup ladle, and a cleaning pin. Measuring 15-1/2 by 11-3/4 by 12-1/4 inches, it weighs about 20 pounds, is UL-listed, and carries a one-year warranty. --Emily Bedard ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Very elegant!!
I researched dozens of microwaves online and went to every store in a 50 miles radius to find the perfect microwave. I was so excited when i first saw this model at a Best Buy that i had to have it even though it cost much more than what i had originally planned on spending on a microwave. When i got home and set it on my counter i knew i had found the right one! The microwave is beautiful and surprisingly compact for a 1.6 c.f. I absolutely love the Sensor Reheat button and all the preprogrammed one-touch sensor cooking categories. The display is very elegant and the power bar that shows at what power level the food is being cooked is very useful. The only thing i think is missing is a button for softening butter and/or ice cream. Other than that i am very satisfied and would recomend it to anyone! ... Read more
