Amazon.com Review

These two accessories, which may be used with all KitchenAid household stand mixers, turn many tough kitchen chores into walks in the park. The strainer, for example, converts cooked apples and pears into sauces for preserving or immediate consumption. Freezer jams are a snap; so is fresh tomato sauce. Baby foods can be made in quantity and frozen. The grinder is equally versatile--think chuck or turkey for fresh hamburgers; Parmesan for pasta or cheddar for quesadillas; peppers, onions, and tomatoes for salsa; apples for chunky sauce. The grinder has two plates, coarse and fine, the latter of which converts stale bread into crumbs in a jiffy. Both strainer and grinder assemble and disassemble quickly and easily without tools, and most parts are dishwasher-safe. --Fred Brack ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A must for the home canner
We used this to make applesause. in a word, Awesome. It turned 5 pounds of apples into applesause in five minutes.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best applesauce maker since the tree
This gizmo makes the shortest work of making applesauce you ever imagined. You slice the apples, cook in a large pan with a small amount of water until they are soft. Then you push the apple mush, skins, seeds, core, stems, etc. in the top of the food grinder, and out the sieve part comes pure applesauce, out the end, comes the seeds, skin and stem. It takes maybe 10 minutes to process a 16qt pot of cooked apples.

I usually get every burner on my stove going, heat the pots of apples, process the mush into sauce, then can the lot. The canning part takes the longest.

Anyway if you can apple sauce, you need this tool. ... Read more

One look at this rubbery bakeware and those uninformed about silicone will laugh at the possibility that it’s actually safe to bake in it. But safe it is and KitchenAid is just one of many bakeware manufacturers that is producing pans in this revolutionary material. Made of FDA-approved food-grade silicone, this muffin pan bakes 24 chocolate-orange mini cupcakes and is perfect for prepping treats for a child’s birthday party. The pan bakes just as evenly as your metal pans and at temperatures up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. In addition, this silicone pan has the benefit of being safe for the refrigerator, freezer, and microwave and can withstand sudden temperature changes from one extreme to another without buckling. The nonstick surface releases cupcakes easily and is safe for use with metal utensils aside from knives or serrated blades. This muffin pan rests in a nonstick metal wire sled with handles, which offers good stability for transferring baked goods in and out of the oven. For easy cleanup, this pan is dishwasher-safe and will retain its nonstick cooking surface through hundreds of dishwasher cycles. The metal sled should be washed by hand. KitchenAid provides a one-year hassle-free replacement warranty plus a lifetime limited warranty on this pan. --Cristina Vaamonde ... Read more

Forget expensive juice bars (how can 12 ounces of banana-orange-strawberry possibly cost $3.50?) and fit this juice extractor attachment into your KitchenAid food processor. Now, surrounded by the comforts of home, fresh fruit and veggie juices are available as fancy or as simple as you like. Just place the strainer in the work bowl, cover, and fit the feed tube extender in the feed tube. Fill the feed tube with any favorite fruit/veggie combination (mine is kiwi, cranberry, and lime) and press down with the pusher while pulsing. When done, remove the strainer and pour the juice into a tall chilled glass. Drink right away for the maximum vitamin content. --Dana Van Nest ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely wonderful!
I love this juice extractor attachment. If you already own an 11 cup processor and you like fresh vegetable juices, than this product is great! I've always wanted to make my own carrot juice, but hated the juicers I've used at friends places. They are such a hassle to clean! I also didn't feel like having another machine in my kitchen. This juicer attachment only has three parts which you place in your processor and all are easy to clean and even dishwasher safe.

But most importantly - I didn't really expect it - it works! It's as fast as when you use a disc attachment. You push the vegetable in, the pulp is collected and the juice comes out. I highly recommend this attachment!

5-0 out of 5 stars Better than Jack Lalane by FAR
I already owned the Kitchen Aid juicer attachment, but it has one flaw. You have to cut things small enough for the feeder. Seeing an infomercial for Jack Lalane's juicer, they put everything in whole. Since this attachment addicted me to juice (and the pulp, which is even better), I bought that juicer as well. What a huge mistake. The cleanup associated took me twice as long as chopping a few things up to start with. And my entire dishwasher was full of parts. Juice splattered all over the place, and dripped out for several minutes when I was done. That unit will go in the back of my closet, only to be brought out if I need to make 100 gallons of juice. It might be worth it then. I'm going back to my wonderful KitchenAid.

3-0 out of 5 stars Useful, but has flaws
This product is very useful and works as advertised, but has some flaws to be wary of.

Good points:
1. I juiced three pears in a little over a minute.
2. I don't have to find counter space for a separate juicer.
3. I can go from one fruit to the next quickly.

Bad points.

1. Pressing too hard on the intake tube causes it to brush up against the rotating shredder points on the bottom, causing it to shave off slight bits of plastic. I'm assuming this will be self correcting after using it a couple of times.
2. Pear peels tend to accumulate quickly and to thick levels on the mesh sides. I assume apple would too. It made it a bear to clean, even with a good soaking.
3. Cleaning means scraping your knuckles on the grater grid on the bottom.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Results
I was skeptical of this attachment, but I am very happy with the results. I have had juicers before so I know what works and doesn't. This attachment was easy to use and was very effective. The pulp was dry so the juice yield was good. However, I would not recommend this for someone who wants to make juice in large quantities, as you need to clean the filter relatively frequently. Also, after making carrot juice the white parts of the attachment turn orange and do not clean easily, but I do not regard this as a major problem.

1-0 out of 5 stars I hate it
This attachment vibrates so badly that it about bounces the food processor right off the counter. I love the food processor but I regret having bought the juice extractor. ... Read more

One look at this rubbery bakeware and those uninformed about silicone will laugh at the possibility that it’s actually safe to bake in it. But safe it is and KitchenAid is just one of many bakeware manufacturers that is producing pans in this revolutionary material. Made of FDA-approved food-grade silicone, this 9-by-5-inch rectangular loaf pan bakes a scrumptiously sweet banana bread or a soft loaf of homemade white bread just as evenly as your metal pans and at temperatures up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. In addition, this silicone pan has the benefit of being safe for the refrigerator, freezer, and microwave and can withstand sudden temperature changes from one extreme to another without buckling. The nonstick surface releases bread easily and is safe for use with metal utensils aside from knives or serrated blades. Oversized rims make the pan easy to lift and transfer to and from from the oven. The only noticeable difference with silicone is that the pans feel a little wobbly as you carry them from tabletop to oven filled with dough and vice versa. Placing this loaf pan on a baking sheet will offer better stability for transferring baked goods and provide a level cooking surface in the oven. For easy cleanup, this pan is dishwasher-safe and will retain its nonstick cooking surface through hundreds of dishwasher cycles. This is not just another pot. With its mirrorlike 18/10 stainless-steel sheen, solid construction, and attention to detail, this saucier verges on a showpiece. The five-ply construction fuses an aluminum core between layers of stainless steel, resulting in wonderful heat transference across the bottom and up the sides. A special deep-draw lid ensures a tighter seal and minimizes rattling. The long, solid-cast stainless-steel handle is polished and has rounded edges for comfortable handling. The handle also stays cool to the touch and is oven-safe up to 500 degrees F. (Do use a potholder, though, when removing from the oven.) Hand washing with a mild detergent is recommended. 5-0 out of 5 stars Its beauty is exceeded only by its performance
I have the KitchenAid stainless steel saucier in good part because I was struck by its looks. But I like it even more now that I've used it. It heats very evenly; the rounded bottom makes whisking & stirring easy; and the shallow wide shape is great for reducing, which I appreciate because I don't think sauces are done till you can stand a spoon in them! Also, the all-metal construction means you can make a sauce, mix in the vegetables, then put it straight into the oven without hauling out a separate casserole. The handle stays reasonably cool on the stovetop, and the well-curved lip, handle, & lid all seem noticeably better-designed than comparable All-Clad. (Note that their glossy hard-anodized finish does not have the same curved lip as the stainless on all pieces.) The mirrored finish is almost too beautiful: seeing the first scratch is dismaying, but the stainless finish is easy to clean & the performance is more than worth it. The real beauty is in the use. It was my first premium-priced piece of cookware and I am now spoiling for an excuse to buy another piece for myself or a friend. Worth every dime.

5-0 out of 5 stars the shmoo of pans
I bought this saucier after a sugar sauce I was making in a cheaper pan turned to carbon. It does sauces wonderfully well, as I would expect from this Kitchenaid line. It heats evenly, is nicely balanced, and the rounded interior is perfect for a balloon wisk or wooden spoon.

If you're used to a copper saucier or a thinner pan, expect to throw a little extra heat on this one to keep it up to temperature. The pan also has more heat capacity than copper, so for a very delicate egg-based sauce I would still use a double boiler or a real french copper saucier, since taking the pan off heat doesn't immediately take it off boil.

For other stuff it's wonderful - the shape of the pan reduces stock beautifully, the heat capacity and distribution is comparable to my leCreuset soup pots (without the weight), and the Kitchenaid handles and lids are a joy to work with.

Oddly enough, I've also found that the shape is perfect for artichokes - two or three will nestle in the pan without falling over, and the deep-draw lid means you can put a scant inch of water in the pan and gently steam the chokes for a good 20 minutes without the pan going dry.

The blindingly polished convex lid also makes a good makeup or shaving mirror, for those last minute touch-ups before your dinner guests arrive. :-).

5-0 out of 5 stars KitchenAid Cookware is a Good Choice
I initially received the cookware set as a gift from my spouse, and have been slowly adding pieces over time (only at rock-bottom sale prices, found by scrounging online). This amazingly-priced saucier rounds out my cookware nicely. Not only are the KitchenAid cookware beautiful and sturdy, their handles are marvelous - great leverage and length. The thick, flat, curved handles stay balanced in your hand, and don't tilt at inconvenient moments like other thin-handled pans do. They have an Old World feel to them, both in heft and looks, except this is stainless steel. This saucier will be perfect for sauce making and reduction, and braising of smaller pieces of meat, or even making vegetable stock. Once you get used to the heft of the saucier and maneuver it well with one hand, you won't want to go back to the lighter weight pans. You will probably find yourself using this saucier for practically everything, everyday.

5-0 out of 5 stars A mail-order masterpiece
I managed to score one of these for Christmas by using subtle hints (try leaving the product description page up on your spouse's computer, eh, by mistake.)

What to say: KitchenAid really got it right, first time. Fit, finish, curvature, weight, handle... this thing is a workhorse, a dead gorgeous one.

So gorgeous that on our first night together I propped it on my bedstand so the first thing I would see in the morning would be its perfectly curved bottom. (No, you are wrong, I DO actually have a life.)

Testimonial on construction: Recently, while sauteing some onions and garlic, I got called away. Ten high-heat minutes later, the onions and even the garlic were still perfectly useable, and the pan only needed rinsing.

So, how can I justify spending [that much] on one small pot? Well, it's hard to do. Lets see: thirty years of use at twice per week = 5 cents per delightful encounter, and then I'll let my kids fight over it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Huge Savings on This Fantastic KitchenAid Saucier Pan!!!!
The distribution of heat in this pan is super!Great for gravies and sauces. I have found it practical for stir fry and other similar cooking. Stir frying can reduce fats and is usually a pretty healthy way to eat a wide variety of veggies and other delightful ingredients. I even use it to pop brown rice or basmati rice. Ever tried hot puffed rice? Sometimes I eat it just like pop corn but often just for a different way of serving rice. This pan is deep enough with or without the lid to keep it from popping out of the pan (depending how much you start with). It is also useful to cook or finish foods in the oven up to 500 degrees. And it is KitchenAid. I expect it to outlast me! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally, something that doesn't stain!
Boy, do I love these measuring spoons! I have the standard metal ones and they just bend all over the place. The only difficulty with these Kitchenaid spoons is that they are so very large that you can't get some of them inside the spice boxes to use them. Good thing I am good at fractions! Other than that, these Kitchenaid ones are so very nice, easy to use, and just look great.

5-0 out of 5 stars Handy & pretty
These are easy to grab, slip off the ring and use. One thing I didn't like - one of the spoons got a white ring in it that won't come off. It may be from auto dishwasher detergent. It's no big deal, though.

5-0 out of 5 stars For Good Measure
These little guys are colorful, with good design and easily read markings: a cheerful addition to the various joys of cooking. (In fact, Kitchen Aid has a rather suave line of such paraphrenalia that certainly bears exploration.)

Here's one spatula you won't find melted up against the side of the stove. Heat resistant to 500 degrees F, it's crafted from a sturdy silicone that won't scrape or scratch nonstick cooking surfaces. 5-0 out of 5 stars best spatula I've ever used
Now I'm not a professional chef, so I've probably used fewer than 10 spatulas in my not so short lifetime. Still this is definitely the best of them. As someone else said, it is a happy medium between very floppy and too rigid: It is just right! I was amazed the first time I used it. I've never had a spatula that enabled me to truly scrape all of the contents out of a mixing bowl. It also looks very nice. For the price I cannot recommend it enough.

4-0 out of 5 stars Miracle Whips Never Been So Easy
As a long time critic of kitchen tools and ALL Miracle Whip applicators, I was skeptical when I was presented with this device. It uses the same "scraper/spatula" design that has been prevalent in the United States since the release of the Tupperware model R. At first glance I was not impressed with this tool. It was nothing flashy, although I must admit the red color was quite innovative. But, the real test would have to come when I put it into service. She wasn't as stiff as some of the hard plastic models I have tested, but not as floppy as most silicone models I have labored through. I would have to say it was a happy medium. So I dug right in and began making some fried wonton stuffed with Miracle Whip, and I must say this spatula sparkled. Pounds of Miracle Whip got stuffed into this little Asian number, and the spatula never failed. I knock off one point for the simple fact, that they don't offer a Miracle Whip branded version of this spatula. Now that would be really nice. Also, not quite strong enough to be used a tactical weapon, but quite suitable as a disciplinary tool. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars perfect
The handles are larger and heavier than on your average utensils and it's great. They fit in your hand perfectly, and the increased weight in the handle increases your control. They are very rigid and wont bend under your cooking loads. True, they probably don't fit well in a drawer, but they look spectacular hanging on a utensil bar next to the matching 5 pc gadget set.

2-0 out of 5 stars Larger than they appear
Don't get me wrong most KitchenAid products are wonderful. Not only that, but I own many very functional utensils and gadgets that match this set. The problem here is the giant size of these utensils! The spatula is so large that trying to flip an egg or any other fragile food product is nearly impossible. The spoon could function as a ladle and the ladle, who knows what you would do with that monster. And I dare you to try to find room in your drawers for these. I donated them to the Salvation Army after one use and one wash. Very disappointed with this product. I gave it two stars because they look very nice.

4-0 out of 5 stars KitchenAid Brand Reliable
I bought some individual pieces of the Kitchenaid spatula's from the Buford Georgia Target, near a year ago. I have them in the Cobalt Blue color, which matches my kitchen. Over all, the product's have held up, unlike the cheap stuff you buy. They still look close to new, with very little wear. I'm very impressed with the quality of Kitchenaid.

3-0 out of 5 stars Big and clunky
These utensils look nice but when it comes to function, they are a little too large for my taste. They are so big they barely fit in my kitchen drawer! They are nice quality but like I said the size is a little impractical for me.

3-0 out of 5 stars Looks great, but...
This set looks great, but when I went to use it for the first time, I was really disappointed. The handles are very heavy. This doesn't work well if you like resting the spatula in the pan while things simmer because a)the handle tips over, and b)the shiny metal part of the handle (that I really liked) gets VERY hot and will burn you!!! Also, this set is heat resistant, but only until the top of the utensil. You see where the shiny metal part makes a horizontal line on the handle? Well from there up, it is NOT heat resistant...it melted the first time I used it. This also is something you want to consider if you like to rest your utensils in the pot. Overall, they look great, but they aren't very functional. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars works fine
I have this dough hook and find it to be very helpful in making bread. I hardly do any hand kneeding because this takes care of it for me. I sometimes have trouble with it nicking the bowl, but that has more to do with the height setting in the mixer. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great!
This thing is huge! It works much better than smaller wheels because it cuts without smashing the pizza toppings as much. I've been looking for a good pizza wheel for a long time, and I finally found a good one. Looks great in cobalt blue, too!

5-0 out of 5 stars Best I've Found
Simply the best designed and constructed I've every seen. Heavy, solid handle. Clever blade guard that provides full protection and is easy to get on and off. Probably the last one I'll every buy.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Better Mouse Trap or Pizza Slicer
I've tried a couple of other pizza wheels, but they've always failed to slice all the way through the pizza. Kitchenaid has designed the perfect pizza slicer. This item slices through both thin and thick crust pizza perfectly. It's larger than other models and makes slicing pizza safer and faster.

5-0 out of 5 stars KitchenAid Rocks!!!!!!!!
KitchenAid simply never disappoints me. I used to cut pizza with a big knife, and burn myself all the time. I went to the local drug store & spent $4.99 on a pizza wheel. What a cheap rip-off. I would have to push so hard to cut the crust that the cheese would rip off the pizza. I had just bought a hand held can opener from KitchenAid, and it was so good. So, I ordered the KitchenAid pizza wheel. First off, the wheel is BIG! And I mean BIG. Your hand comes no where even close to the steamy cheese. And the blade is sharp, it whizzes through the crust effortlessly. Now, I've cut my fingers so many times before on knives, etc. so I was concerned about putting this wheel in my drawer and accidentally grabbing it and cutting myself. With the KitchenAid pizza wheel, NO PROBLEM! There is a plastic cover that fits over the entire wheel, and there is no chance of cutting myself. I know it seems like a lot of money just to cut frozen pizza, but it is so worth it. This is so well built and heavy duty, it will last for life. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Silicone bakeware is hard to believe; for many, it takes an act of faith to use it for the first time. But after that, it's hard to remember using anything else. The red KitchenAid 9-inch round cake pan is a basic pan for baking simple round layers, and even though it's made of floppy silicone rubber, it does as good a job (or better) than any metal or glass pan. For one thing, it's easier to release a cake from a silicone pan once it's done baking; just invert the pan, exert a slight pressure to the bottom, and peel the cake away from the pan. And since it's made of resilient silicone, this pan can handle the use of metal spatulas or utensils without its permanent nonstick quality being affected; don't use anything with a serrated edge, though.

Baking times from recipes may need to be adjusted slightly for use with silicone pans, since they heat up so much more quickly than conventional pans. It is safe to move silicone baking pans directly from the freezer to a microwave or preheated oven; there's no need to worry about gradual temperature increases since it won't buckle like metal or shatter like glass. The pan can be placed on a baking sheet or directly on the oven rack while baking. Do not use it on a gas or electric burner or under a broiler.

KitchenAid silicone baking pans are dishwasher-safe; if washing by hand, do not use abrasive cleansers or scouring pads. Some acidic foods might stain the silicone, but this will not affect the pan's performance in the oven. The KitchenAid silicone round cake pan measures 9 inches across (11 inches counting the 1-inch rim) and 2 inches tall. KitchenAid guarantees the pan with a one-year hassle-free replacement warranty as well as a lifetime limited warranty. --Garland Withers ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great cake pans!!!!
I used my new Kitchenaid 9" round cake pans today and they work great!! I lightly sprayed them with Pam cooking spray that contained flour. They bake beautifully without any attempt to stick. I placed the silicone pans directly on the oven cooking rack without the use of a baking sheet. They sat perfectly level on the oven rack. Taking them out of the oven is a breeze. The cake pans cool quickly and were easy to handle. They have a wide brim that allows you to hold the pans securely. I love these pans! I have ordered the Heart shaped and Square pans. Get these pans while they are cheap in price. You can not go wrong. Use Pam spray and your cakes will pop out like mine without any trouble. Also, these pans will interlock inside one another for easy storage. ... Read more
