Make quick work of chopping garlic cloves with KitchenAid'sgarlic press--you'll wonder why you ever bothered with those jars ofprechopped garlic. Simply insert a clove or two into the well, flip thehandles together, and press down firmly--out through the holes comesyour freshly chopped garlic. Cleanup's a breeze since nothing sticks tothe polished stainless steel, and the handy brush quickly pushes outany garlic still stuck in the holes. You won't want to lose this littlebrush, so for storage, simply clip the brush to the press mechanism andfold the press closed. --Maile Rehbock ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars It Broke!
It was great while it lasted, but the garlic press handle broke off easily, and we had to replace it with a sturdier brand.

4-0 out of 5 stars Looks great - works great
The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is
1. It's huge and takes a lot more room than my old one.
2. I doesn't have a handy bottle opener for any kind of bottles or to open up a stubborn lid. Therefore I had to keep my old ratty one for those chores.

Otherwise it's a well-working, good-looking gadget. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

A tool for chefs who like large, bold brushstrokes, this KitchenAid basting brush for the barbecue is long, substantial, and fun to wield. No wimpy little thing with a wire handle, this brush features a heavy-gauge, stainless-steel, tubular construction with a textured, nonstick grip. The materials are resistant to both heat and rust, as well as safe for the dishwasher. The brush's triple row of angled bristles make sauce application easy, and the entire bristle head unscrews for replacement. Weighty and long—it measures 19-1/2 inches—the brush is not ideal for tiny hands or delicate dishes. For hardcore barbecue artists, however, it's a find. --Emily Bedard ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A power tool for serious cooks.
KitchenAid is one of those manufacturers who just can't make a bad product, regardless of price. Even this, their least [costly] hand mixer, says 'quality' from the moment you pick it up and affirms it when you switch it on.

A professional chef will tell you that if you can't get the job done with 3 speeds on your hand mixer, you probably shouldn't be in the kitchen. That's why you find this particular mixer in the homes of so many chefs. It's a no-nonsense tool for serious cooking. Probably the most important feature is the design of the 'Turbo-Beater Accessories'. Made of 100% stainless steel, the beaters have a rounded mixing surface similar to a chef's balloon whisk. Instead of hacking through whipping cream and egg whites like the typical knife-edged beaters found on most hand mixers, the KitchenAid's beaters gently but efficiently incorporate air into the ingredients. There's less risk of having your meringue collapse from overbeating. Having no center shafts, the beaters don't clog when you're mixing heavy cookie dough. At cleanup time, the beaters can go into the dishwasher or wash up easily by hand.

The slightly angled grip gives the user a greater feeling of comfort and control. At any speed, there's little vibration. The noise level is low enough to permit conversation without having to shout. The motor cooling fan vents warm air away from the user, and the beaters produce far less splashing than conventional beaters. All of this quality comes at a slight cost in the overall weight of the mixer, a bit heavier than most.

Ultimately, the choice is simple. You can keep paying twenty bucks for one cheaply-made hand mixer after another, or spend a little more for a mixer that will become a true friend for life in the kitchen.

2-0 out of 5 stars ehhh
Lasted for a while, but the motor burned out from COOKIES

4-0 out of 5 stars Mixer fine; beaters don't last
I am on my second Classic 3 mixer. The mixer is great for handling all of my (many) baking chores. However, in both cases, the beaters broke before the motor died. If anyone has a set of beaters which has outlasted the mixer, I'd like to talk to you!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great little mixer
This was purchased off of my wedding registry as a Christmas present. I used it for Christmas dinner and my huge vat of mashed potatoes was a breeze. I used to do them by hand, but a 5 pound bag of potatoes was turned into beautiful creamy mashed potatoes within seconds and I will never do them by hand again. This may not be the fanciest hand mixer, but it certainly has plenty of power to get the jobs that you don't want to bring out the stand mixer for. Great buy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just what I needed.
Now I'm far from a professional chef, but as a mom who cooks and bakes daily, this mixer was a great replacement for my old mixer that starting smoking (!) while mixing oatmeal cookie dough. I haven't quite had it a year, but it has been working wonderfully for me. :o) ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars poor quality
I was looking forward to receiving my new stir fry pan, but upon opening the package, I was a little disapointed. The pan did not have the weight or feel like my other matching kitchenaid cookware. As well, it almost looked like an open saute pan, with an inch added to the top, literally. There was a fold line all around the pan, right were the saute pan would have ended.I hope this makes sense, it is hard to explain.I ordered the product from canada, and if I had been from the states, I would have sent it back.Hope this helps, and happy cooking! ... Heavy, sturdy, and stylish, this ice-cream spade has a die-cast head for strength and durability, an enamel-like handle for beauty, and dishwasher safety for convenience. 4-0 out of 5 stars this baby is sooo solid
How much can you say about an ice cream scoop right? Well not that much other than to say this thing works GREAT! I mean really really great. It weighs about a ton and it cuts through the most rock solid dairy product like it was made of Kryptonite. And it cleans up so easy. Just a quick rinse and its back in the draw ready to go. Is it more expensive then a regular scoop? Maybe. But for my money it pays back in spades every time I use it. ... Read more

Combining the virtues of stainless steel and aluminum,KitchenAid's Five-Ply pots and pans are practical, durable, andbeautiful. They contain three layers of aluminum across the bottoms andup the sides for quick, uniform heating without hot spots or scorching.Bonded to the aluminum core are nonreactive exteriors and interiors of18/10 stainless steel that resist scratching, denting, and warping, aswell as corrosion and discoloring. The stainless steel is polished to amirror finish that retains its luster--though the bottoms inside areless polished to hide whisk and spatula marks.

Wearing a mirror finish inside and out and equipped with big handles, lids sit down deeply to produce tight seals. Cast-stainless-steelhandles are triple-riveted for strength and gracefully arched for easylifting. They stay cool on the stovetop and go safely into the oven upto 500 degrees F. This classic, slope-sided, 8-inch skillet (withoutlid) is ideal for sautéing veal medallions, frying smelt, andpan-roasting scallops, and its rounded rim resists drips when pouring.Though it's dishwasher-safe, hand washing KitchenAid cookware preventsthe surface from dulling. 5-0 out of 5 stars Customers Beware!!!
I have spent thousands of dollar's, On Meyers cookware everthing from KitchenAid, Anolon, Prestige, Faberware, & Circulan, just to name a few. Though Meyers does manufacture very high quality pots & pans and I would recommend them to anyone it's just sad that if you have any problem with them, under warranty, you have to go throught the chain of command, that never gets you anywhere, even if you want to speak with upper management about the rudeness of the customer service department. Their customer service department employees are always very rude and snotty and they act like they are doing you a favor to even talk to you about their products. Don't get me wrong they do make good cookware, probably the best, but you as the consumer are at the mercy of their customer service and their descision or your fait on wheather your life time warranty is honored or not.

4-0 out of 5 stars the more I use my kitchenaid, the more I hate my all-clad
For some reason (marketing?), the kitchenaid five-ply stainless cookware is being perceived as a tier below the equivalent all-clad.This may be true of the enamel over steel stuff that kitchenaid sells at K-mart, but the five-ply is actually a cut above.

All-clad is three ply, Kitchenaid is five. All-clad has two rivets holding on the handles, Kitchenaid has three.All-clad has weirdly shaped handles that are uncomfortable when lifting large pans and oversized on small ones. Kitchenaid has two different sizes of wide, comfortable handles.All-clad has a straight lip, which makes pouring more difficult, and which also means the exposed aluminum at the top edge of the pan rests against the lid, where water can condense and run back into the food. Kitchenaid has a flared lip, which makes pouring easier, and which keeps the exposed aluminum on the outside of the pan.

My only complaint with my kitchenaid cookware is that the rivets are hard to clean around (which makes this pan less than perfect for crepes), and that the stay-cool handles stay cool enough to drag the pan around on the stovetop, but not cool enough to lift a very hot pan and flip it.The handle also heats up quite thoroughly in the dishwasher (yowch!), and while the instructions with the pan specifically warn about the handles heating up in the oven, the folks at the factory apparently never thought about the dishwasher problem. (All-clad has the same issue).

3-0 out of 5 stars Quality materials, small size.
This skillet is too small, I needed a larger sized skillet. I do love the Kitchen Aid product line, and have always been very happy with other items.

5-0 out of 5 stars BETTER THAN CUISINART EVERYDAY
I have bought starter pieces to try different midlevel cookware (something better than Farberware, but not quite All-Clad).I have sampled both the Kitchenaid and Cuisinart small skillets.I am thoroughly impressed w/this pan.I found most everything sticks to the Cuisinart, while my Kitchenaid skillet always browns evenly, sautees beautifully with no sticking.I love the heft and design of this pan, most noteworthy is the handle.I love my Kitchenaid 8" so much in fact, that I have registered for the whole set for my wedding. If you are looking for a good quality everyday set, go with old reliable Kitchenaid!! ... This slotted spoon is as sturdy as they come. It's a whopping 13 inches long, the bowl is a full inch and a half deep, and the wide handle feels comfortable in the hand. Four large slots leave grease or cooking liquid behind, making this the tool of choice for scooping dumplings from a pot of broth or greens from their braising liquid. The silicone construction is highly heat resistant, so you can leave it propped up against a skillet without fear of unsightly melt marks, and it won't scratch or otherwise harm your beloved nonstick pans. THis spoon is beautiful & compliments all the other red KA stuff I own. I was surprised a bit by how large it was, and how heavy it was. But it really is high quality and performs well. I guess I'm used to the cheaper nylon cooking utensils I've owned. Overall, I'm glad I bought it, and it was worth the $$. It just seems a little bulky to store. Pound for pound, a good hand mixer is perhaps the most laborsavingkitchen device. While my grandmother relied on arm strength and force of will tobeat a stiff dough or to mash potatoes, a light and easily maneuvered hand mixersaves time and muscles. This one from KitchenAid features seven-speed digitaltouch control for precision mixing, and an electronic sensor that will adjustthe power as you go, so you maintain a steady mixing speed. If you're beating adelicate batter, you can use the Soft Start feature and ease into faster speed. When you're finished, the beaters are easily ejected. If you've ever battledheavy doughs, you'll appreciate the beaters' design: they don't have a centerpost, so dough won't collect in the middle of the beater and clog the machine. It's also designed for easy cleaning. --Laura Cuthbert ... 4-0 out of 5 stars good steamer, lousy colander
This universal steamer is truly universal - not only does it fit my 6- and 8-quart Kitchenaid stockpots, it also does a pretty good job with my leCreuset 4.5 quart (26 cm) soup pot and my 10.5 inch cast iron deep skillet. If you own two steamers, they'll even stack with each other.

As a steamer for veggies, tamales, fish, or steamed buns the steamer works really well - it's big enough to do whole ears of corn (artfully arranged), and very easy to clean afterward. As a steamer for couscous or rice, however, it's not so great - the holes are too big to hold small grains, and the bottoms don't make a perfect tight seal even on the Kitchenaid pots (the cost of being universal). If you only make steamed grains on rare and special occasions, a square of cheesecloth inside and a kitchen towel wrapped around outside will solve the leakage problem, but it would probably get tedious every week.

Unlike some other steamer inserts, this one doesn't have three or four bumps around the edge on the bottom to hold the bottom up off a surface, so you can't use this to drain salted eggplant or meat, and you can't set this aside with hot damp things in it and expect them to cool and drain. Kitchenaid is usually very good at design, so I'm not sure why they overlooked this basic.

The second one I got also had a "Made in China" sticker on the bottom, which was a disappointment. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

For daily food preparation, this durable polypropelene cutting board has a medium-sized 8-by-10-inch cutting space and holds up to repeated use. The board is double-sided so you can slice meats and vegetables on separate surfaces to avoid contamination. Non-slip santoprene handles in a contrasting color prevent the board from slipping off the counter during slicing and also keep the board from sliding out of wet hands when transporting chopped ingredients from countertop to stove. The tough plastic cutting surface is preferable among germ-conscious chefs as it is dishwasher-safe and, therefore, easier to clean and sanitize. Knife gurus will also appreciate the polypropelene surface for maintaining knives and resulting in fewer trips to the professional sharpener. KitchenAid offers a one-year hassle-free replacement warranty plus a limited lifetime warranty on this cutting board.--Cristina Vaamonde ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Silicone bakeware is hard to believe; for many, it takes an act of faith to use it for the first time. But after that, it's hard to remember using anything else. The red KitchenAid heart-shaped cake pan is for baking festive heart layers for Valentine's Day, anniversaries, or other occasions when a romantic dessert might be appreciated. And even though it's made of floppy silicone rubber, it does as good a job (or better) than any metal or glass pan. For one thing, it's easier to release a cake from a silicone pan once it's done baking; just invert the pan, exert a slight pressure to the bottom, and peel the cake away from the pan. And since it's made of resilient silicone, this pan can handle the use of metal spatulas or utensils without its permanent nonstick quality being affected; don't use anything with a serrated edge, though.

Baking times from recipes may need to be adjusted slightly for use with silicone pans, since they heat up so much more quickly than conventional pans. It is safe to move silicone baking pans directly from the freezer to a microwave or preheated oven; there's no need to worry about gradual temperature increases since it won't buckle like metal or shatter like glass. The pan can be placed on a baking sheet or directly on the oven rack while baking. Do not use it on a gas or electric burner or under a broiler.

KitchenAid silicone baking pans are dishwasher-safe; if washing by hand, do not use abrasive cleansers or scouring pads. Some acidic foods might stain the silicone, but this will not affect the pan's performance in the oven. The KitchenAid silicone round cake pan measures 9 by 9-1/2 inches across (11 by 12 inches counting the 1-1/2-inch rim) and 1-1/2 inches tall. It has the same volume capacity as the 9-inch round cake pan. KitchenAid guarantees the pan with a one-year hassle-free replacement warranty as well as a lifetime limited warranty. --Garland Withers ... Read more
