Prying a burned bagel from the death-defying grip of a toaster is not a fun way to start your morning--but it happens to everyone sooner or later. With the huge slots on this fancy machine, the chance of that happening is slim indeed. Each of the four slots measures 1-3/4 inches wide by 10 inches long--you won't even have to slice crumpets to have them fit snugly inside. There are seven different temperature settings, including a defroster that improves texture immensely for those frozen waffles and pastries. Move up to the deluxe toaster.
This toaster replaces a functioning run-of-the-mill, 2 slice toaster that we've had for about five years. Everyone buys that toaster when they first set-up their household. Now, it's time for an update.

The first thing I noticed about this toaster is that it is quite large. It has two long slots that will easily accomodate four large pieces or bread, bagels or frozen waffles. The control is simple to use and will be familiar to anyone. The construction is sturdy and the styling is modern and attractive. Krups is a very reliable appliance name and their coffeemakers are by far the best available. That's what led me to purchase the Krups toaster.

The unique heating element works wonderfully. The first test pieces of toast were some slightly stale wheat bread we found in the back of the refrigerator. The toaster worked quickly and filled the room with the aroma of freshly baked bread. The bread was toasted perfectly with a crispy exterior and a nicely hot center. I am very pleased with this purchase. Don't live with inferior toast for another day. Move up to the deluxe toaster.

Best toaster that I've owned in the last ten years-bar none!
The Krups 4-slice toaster is the most satisfying toaster that I've owned for a long time and after two years of daily use it is still going strong: It has just all the right features, and especially the ones you really use and it toasts bread of any size or bagels to perfection better than Toastmaster, Rowenta, Braun, Delonghi, Oster. Each piece of toast is perfected browned evenly, never burn't just perfect. The last toaster I owned was a kenwood and it was just plain dangerous: electronic sparks kept coming out at the end of the toasting cycle. I've had this toaster for over a year and the Krups is definitely a winner. Finally I've found the Best toaster!

Starts the wife out happy in the AM
As any Married Man of Long Standing will tell you, when the wife isn't happy, nobody's happy. Therefore, anything that promotes mellowness in Momma is a boon to Mankind.

When we first took the Krups Sensotoast Deluxe out of its box, we noticed that the heating element spans only one side of each slot. That immediately raised doubts as to the toaster's ability to crisp the far-side face of the slice. But, we were pleasantly surprised when those first muffin halves popped out nicely browned on both sides. That leaves the inevitable question, "How did they do that?" Clever, those Germans.

If you're looking for a gadget that'll do anything, including pick up email, then this device isn't for you. The Sensotoast Deluxe is a paragon of stripped-down simplicity. It has a down lever, an emergency "stop" release, a 1-7 setting dial for burn control, an easily removable crump catcher, and wire "thingies" - that's the technical term - that close to support the bread in an upright position as the slice descends into its own personal Hades.

The toaster only comes in two colors, white and black, which might prove problematic if the dominant theme of your kitchen is brushed steel or sunshine yellow. However, our white version doesn't clash with our dowdy cream-colored paint scheme. It does have a relatively large 15 x 6.5 inch footprint, so you may have to move aside the rice cooker, power lettuce shredder, cappuccino wizard, veggie steamer, food dessicator, turbo can-opener, or gelato maker to create space. And the 30-inch power cord seems rather short, but maybe that's a good thing if you're trying to reduce cord clutter. The toaster is also surprisingly light, which may not be a plus if your cat wants to shove it off the counter top to clear space for a nap.

The best feature of the appliance is the pair of 10.5 x 1.5 inch toasting slots - big enough to handle those exorbitantly-priced, mail-order English muffins that are hefty enough to satisfy even a hungry soccer ruffian. I know for a fact that it helps get my lady started out on the right foot with a satisfying breakfast, so that makes it a Good Thing in my book. And, I have to admit, that when I want a summer sausage, cheese and barbecue sauce combo on toast to eat over the kitchen sink, the Sensotoast Deluxe is indispensable in creating this gourmet snack.

it worked fine until...
Toaster worked OK until dying rather suddenly one year later without much announcement. It was functional until its untimely demise which seems particularly untimely considering the price we paid originally (~70 bucks). (...)

burned out in about two years
we bought this about two years ago when our ancient black and decker basic toaster finally gave up the ghost. we never found that it did that great a job toasting things evenly (i.e., on both sides), but it was at least passable. the big slots were certainly a plus. sadly, it died with a pop the other morning, undoubtedly some electronic component (capacitor, perhaps?) having failed catastrophically. for the money, one certainly expects better quality and longevity. we won't be buying another, and i certainly wouldn't recommend this toaster to anybody that asked. ... My Krups Power XL6 is my new best friend and favourite toy.
I received it as a surprise gift this past holiday season, and I am completely impressed. My Krups XL6 Combi blender came with a food processor attachment, making it even more versatile. The real reason I wanted a blender was for ice crushing and smoothie making, and after reading scores of negative reviews for other blenders regarding broken blades and fried motors after ice crushing, I was a little nervous to try it out. For the trial run I put in seven large ice cubes, put the lid on, and cautiously pushed the ice crusher button. This thing has the power of a jackhammer disguised as a blender! My ice was a perfect slushy consistency in seconds, with no large chunks of ice stuck under the blades (I've had that happen more than once). Two other nice features are that there is a removable measuring cup in the blender lid, which makes it handy for mixing alcoholic beverages (I've tried both daiquiris and piña coladas and both turned out superbly with minimum fuss and cleanup), and that the blender jar holds over a liter and half (50 oz.). There are 14 speeds, although I'm still in love with ice crushing for the moment, and the instruction manual covers chopping nuts, herbs, cheeses, instructions for milkshakes, purées, guacamole and more. The only downside was that the blade assembly with seal is made from plastic, and I couldn't remove it for fear of breaking it, so I wash it and dry it still in-jar. And the cord is a little on the short side. But these are only minor gripes, and overall I'm extremely pleased.

AWESOME!!!
This blender is one of the best I have ever used. If you are literate, the directions are very simple to figure out. If you put nothing but ice cubes in it, it will leave you with chunks of ice (what blender doesn't?) I use this to make daquiris all the time and if you follow the recipes, it makes the smoothest drink I have ever had. PUT THE LIQUID INGREDIENTS IN FIRST!!! The whole thing disassembles for easy cleaning. It has met my expectations and more.

Never again
Bought a year ago. Used less than a dozen times before motor began to smell. Now jar leaks. Not worth even one star, let alone the money wasted on this piece of junk. I should have learned after the last Krups appliance failed on me shortly after purchase. Wiser now. Will never buy another Krups product. Ever.

Not worth any price
I got this and after the first time I used it I thanked myself for saving the receipt and all the packaging.

It leaks/sprays out the back. The plastic around the bottom is not removable - so cleaning is not thorough. Ice was not easily crushed.

I am going to go for a Cuisinart or Kitchen Aid brand.

Piece of junk
This has got to be the worst blender ever made. Really! 6 months old. Incredibly noisy, vibrates like crazy, and now leaks so badly thatit must be run in the sink. This blender was a new warranty replacement unit. I recieved it 6 months ago in exchange for one that had the exact same problems.

Now, that it has been over a year since my original purchase, all Krups can tell me is to send it to a repair shop and pay whatever. Its not worth repairing. I suppose I can accept the business of the year limit. That said, however, I must exclaim: what stupid engineering!

Krups deserves to fail if this is all the interest they have in design and quality. I bought this one because of the Krups name... never again. I am ordering an Oster today. ... Read more
