5-0 out of 5 stars Seems to work fine
I have a nice Skyscan clock that someone gave me as a gift. I wanted another for a different room but was amazed at the high price. I searched around Amazon and this La Crosse WS-6003U was the least expensive atomic digital clock I found - so I decided to try it.

The packaging is pretty bogus - the clock is screwed into a cardboard 1/2 box and then dropped into a big zip-lock type bag, but the clock arrived just fine.

I tried it out at my office, which is a HARD place to get any radio signal and as expected it would not sync up. At the house it synced up with 2-3 minutes - no problem. I AM putting it on a west wall - which in my case means the back of the clock "faces" the WWV transmitter. I have read of cases where placing the clocks on walls that are perpendicular to the direction of the transmitter can cause you not to be able to sync up the clock.

The clock has very large, easy to read digits for the time. The date, day, and temp are smaller but still not a problem to read from a distance. The thermometer seems pretty accurate, comparing well to my thermostat.

The clock has a "leg" in the middle of the back that folds out so you can stand it up rather than hang it on the wall, a nice touch. There are 3 screw/nail holes in the back for hanging.

The clock is pretty easy to set up - but not as nice as the SkyScan. This clock only has 2 buttons - a set and a + button - to let you select the time zone, DST, language, date/time (manual setting), 12/24 choice, and celsius/fahrenheit.

I don't know how it will hold up or how fast it will eat the (not supplied) 2 AA batteries, but so far I am impressed with the clock for the price. For $5 you can get the same clock with a (fake?) wood case or one with a rounded case - but it appears the guts are the same on all three. ... Read more

Curious how cold it dipped last night, and whether it's really as muggy as you think it is? The WS-7014U wireless forecast station from La Crosse Technology shares all that information and more. The forecast station captures the minimum and maximum indoor and outdoor temperatures in a given day and the exact times at which they were recorded. In addition, it displays the current forecast, indoor humidity, and the radio-controlled time and date. Who needs the weatherman when your information is more thorough? Plus, the forecast is approximately 75% accurate for 12 to 20 hours. The unit comes with one remote temperature sensor, though it accepts as many three, so you can measure the temperature from a variety of locations. The display itself is either wall-hanging or free-standing. --Rivers Janssen ... Read more

  • Base unit measures 5-1/2 by 1-1/4 by 5-1/2 inches
  • Forecasts weather for 12 to 20 hours in advance, based on air pressure changes
  • Also reads indoor temperature and humidity, and remote temperature
  • One remote transmitter included; base can receive data from up to three sensors
  • Radio-controlled time and date

4-0 out of 5 stars No outdoor humidity
Overall I've been very pleased with this weather station. It has been very accurate and I enjoy being able to have indoor and outdoor temperature. The only real complaint I have is that it only shows indoor humidity. I would like to have temperature and humidity for both indoors and outdoors.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good value
I've always wanted a unit like this that could pull data in from a wireless sensor and the added benefit of the atomic clock synch made it an easy decision. The barometer shows a trend arrow along with a not terribly useful graphic but that's neither here nor there. It was fun to see the arrow pointing down for a couple of days, turn to the rain graphic, and then voila, it was raining here in L.A.
It's a little easy to knock over as it is very lightweight. The display is pretty large and is easy to read. I like that it holds min and max temps for both indoor and outdoor including the date and time of the record.
The humidity sensor is a nice plus and it uses the standard range to determine the "comfort" zone which it notates with a smiley face.

3-0 out of 5 stars Doesn't replace the weatherman
The desing of this clock is certainly sleek and modern. The base and remote units each run off 2 AA batteries. There was no AC adaptor. Setup was a breeze. The atomic clock keeps perfect time (at least when the batteries are new)

What I don't like is the weather forecast. The clock shows a logo of sun, clouds, clouds over the sun or rain to denote what the weather will be. Unfortunately, you never know when this will happen. My clock was showing sun three days ago. It was raining then, and has been raining since. I suppose eventually it will be sunny. Still, this is no less accurate than the TV weather people.

This clock/weather station also takes liberty with your personal comfort zone. It has a smiley/frowney face indicator to tell you when the indoor conditions are outside a comfort zone. This feature seems presumptouous to me.

Still, it is a fun item to have. The base unit is expandable to read up to three remote sensors. Only one comes with the unit. For what it is, it functions perfectly. Just don't expect any special insight into the weather as a result. ... Read more

If the Weather Channel or a local weather radio station isn't enough, it might be that the La Crosse WS-7391UD Wireless Weather Station can take up the slack. Multiple meteorological readouts appear on an elegant oak-toned base station that mounts on the wall. Sensors (up to three) transmit information from outdoor vantage points to the base station. Indoor and outdoor temperature (in degrees Fahrenheit and Celsius) and relative humidity are prominently displayed. Radio-controlled calendar and time readings are accurate to within a second per year. Time can be displayed in 12- or 24-hour modes.

The weather forecast feature, estimated to be 75% accurate, is based on change in air pressure over time. Three icons--a sun, a sun with clouds, or two rain clouds--indicate imminent changes in the weather. And there are two weather tendency arrows as well, indicating changes in air pressure. Current moon phases are also indicated. A large round button, designed to look like the bottom bulb of a thermometer, is divided into a channel changer and a reset button.

The weather station comes with La Crosse transmitter TX4U. Clock and transmitter each operate on two AA batteries. The WS-7391UD measures 17-3/4 by 6-1/2 by 1-1/4 inches. 5-0 out of 5 stars Very Good, Simple Weather Station
This station is easy to set up with the wireless sensor. No wiring and no anemometer to put up so installation is a snap. While there is no wind direction/speed or rain gauge capabilities, the barometric pressure and temperature readings will more than suffice if you are not a big weather enthusiast. After one week of use I've found the forecasting icons to be very accurate and it even indicated an approaching storm before hurricane Isabel nicked New York. The humidity readings tend to be the most accurate mid-scale. As they approach the upper end of the 20-95% measuring range they get less accurate. But this is still a fun little weather station with moon phase and sun/moon rise and set data for all of the US plus Canada and Mexico. I purchased the 8025CH "Cherry woodwork" version of this station.

The manual is in three languages and covers most of the station's operations. But directions on how to set the clock alarm and the meaning of the "+1" near the moon rise time are not covered. The alarm can be set by pressing and holding "ALARM", and the "+1" indicates the time of moon rise the next day if it goes past midnight. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Works Great
I ordered the La Crosse atomic clock despite the conflicting reviews below because I already have a Skyscan atomic clock (probably the same company) and I love it, except that it doesn't have the outdoors temperature option. I received the clock yesterday and installed it according to the directions around 9 p.m. It picked up the temperature sensor's signal almost right away, and synced almost immediately too. Another reviewer here says that "According to La Crosse tech support the "radio tower" display is only lit during the synchronization process and for about 20 minutes after the sync." That's not true with either of my atomic clocks. Once the sync is successful, the radio symbol stays on for an entire day, so you know that the sync worked. The La Crosse tech support must not know much, though, because the instructions say the clock need 3 AAA batteries, even though it actually uses 2 AA batteries (and 2 more for the temperature sensor).

The clocks are very accurate. Since I had 2 atomic clocks next to each other, I checked to see if there is any difference in time. Well, the minute changed on both clocks within about ½ of a second, and I stared at them for 5 minutes before I could figure out which clock changed first. I also checked them against the internet clock, and everything came out within one second, just as it claimed. In addition, the temperature readings from the clocks stay within half a degree of each other.

My old Skyscan atomic clock looks identical to this La Crosse clock, except for the trim around it and the outdoor temperature display. I got it 2 or 3 years ago from Costco for half the price of this one, but I wanted the outdoor temperature option. In the years I've owned it, my Skyscan has worked faithfully, always changing according to Daylight Savings and never erred in any way until about a month ago, when the time was suddenly an hour off. I tried to sync it again but couldn't get it to work, so I finally put in new batteries (first time ever) even though the LCD display was still clear. It synced right away and has been working great! Now that I have my new La Crosse, I am letting my husband take the Skyscan to his office so that his employees and clients can admire it!

I mention my Skyscan clock here to indicate that my overall experience with the atomic clocks has been very good, and it's really cool not to have to adjust the clock for Daylight Savings. I think atomic clocks are a wonderful technological invention, and I highly recommend this product.

Note: Both my clocks are arranged to somewhat face Colorado - Colorado is southeast from us, and the clocks face east. If you need to place your clock so that it shows its back to Colorado, you might not want to try this - or better yet, be creative and find a spot so that the clock can look the right way! It is such a cool gadget, it's a pity to miss it!

2-0 out of 5 stars Atomic clock needs better interface
This is a nice clock -- large digits, indoor/outdoor temps, etc.

What it lacks is a good interface to the atomic clock feature. According to La Crosse tech support the "radio tower" display is only lit during the synchronization process and for about 20 minutes after the sync. Unless you are willing to sit up from midnight until 6 AM to watch your clock sync there is no way to know if you have "atomic clock" accuracy or just an overpriced LCD clock on the wall.

When I initially set up my clock it didn't sync with the atomic clock so I set it manually. I intentionally set it a few minutes slow so I could see when it had synced. It ran for days without an update. I then reset the clock in a different room where it sync'd itself and put it back on the wall in my TV room. Days later I don't know if it is syncing or not.

The clock appears to be very sensitive to location and position. The manuals suggest the clock may need to face Ft. Collins, CO to receive the signal. I find this limitation unacceptable. I need a clock on a north wall.

Final comment is the user manual is overly complicated.

5-0 out of 5 stars Cream of the Crop Atomic Clock
I have owned this clock for 8 months and have nothing but praise. While its looks are a matter of taste, I bought it for function, not form. It does what it is supposed to, and does it well. Initial set-up was easy and trouble free. It has maintained perfect time, and the remote temp sensor is still functioning smoothly. Occassionally, the temp display will go blank, but it always comes back in a short time. I think it has something to do with the clock syncronizing. I owned a cheaper atomic wall clock that I ended up tossing after 4 mos, since it would not syncronize correctly, resetting the time 40 minutes slow and the year to 2004! This La Crosse just keeps on keepin' on... with great accuracy. And isn't that what we want clocks and thermometers to do?! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice little dual-alarm, self-setting, compact travel clock
I bought this clock mostly because of its dual alarm feature, as my wife and I get up at different times in the morning. It performs its function nicely. All advertised features work as described. The clock sets itself every night, although it did not set itself an hour after installing the battery (comes with the unit) as in the instructions. It probably helps that the bedroom faces Colorado where the atomic clock's transmitter is.

Pros:
- Two alarms can be set for every day (not just one for weekdays and one for weekends as in some "dual-alarm" clocks
- Sets itself to the true time every night, can be manually set
- Pressing any button activates the backlight (actually it's a small light bulb on the right side of the unit, but it provides enough illumination)
- Bottom part of the display can be set to show day, month, date (as in the picture), alarm time, and other formats
- Pressing "Snooze" button on top shows to what both alarms are set in the bottom portion of the display
- The unit folds forward and slides back into the case, protecting the display while traveling

Cons:
- The alarms (there is a distinct tone on each of the two alarms) could be louder
- Plastic casing feels a bit cheap and possibly fragile (although it didn't break after during a 5-day trip to Texas)
- User's manual could be a lot more clear and concise (also, LaCrosse has very limited info on this and their other products on their website...)
- There is not enough separation between the hour and the minute digits (as seen in the picture) with an almost invisible colon flashing every second

Overall, I am very satisfied with this purchase and would recomend it. ... Read more

A forecast icon on the LCD displays weather predictions for any 12- to 20-hour time period based on changing air pressure. For added convenience, this weather station has a manually set quartz clock, which keeps the time in hours and minutes in a 12-hour mode. The wireless weather station requires two AA batteries for the receiver and another two for the remote and mounts on a wall or rests on a table for readouts. This unit is covered by a one-year warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Entry level weather station
This is a pretty basic unit, but it answers the age old question of "How hot/cold is it outside?". Usually walking out onto the porch is enough to figure this out, but I usually pick my clothes for the day in the bedroom. Now I have this thing on my desk to tell me how hot or cold it is, and if the barometer is rising or falling. I'll get a more sophisticated unit later, but this works well for now.

I only rate it three stars because it does seem cheaply made, and the original remote temperature sending unit had to be replaced by the manufacturer because it never worked. They did replace it free of charge. It seems like pretty good deal for the money.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not So Hot - Junk!
The receiver will rarely start correctly. Then it gives up. When you need to restart you need to take the batteries out for at least 2 days and let it fix itself for some mysterious reason. It worked fairly well during the winter months but when the temps reached around 60-70 degrees it just quit. I got it going a couple of times but it quits again after a day or so and needs to be reset - another two to three day waiting process. In actual fact, it spends more time "resting" than telling the temperature. Not a quality item - Junk!

5-0 out of 5 stars I LOVE THIS THERMOMETER
Really COOL. Lets you know the min. and max. temps, current temp., and indoor, too. I love it.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Weather Channel WS-7208TWC Wireless Weather Station
I am pretty interested in the weather so when I received this as a Christmas present I was very excited. I've had this thing set up for a bit over a week and I love it. It is able to display the indoor and outdoor temperature to a tenth of a degree. The best part of this station is the weather forecast. In the "forecast" section of the display, an arrow is present along with a weather icon. The arrow in the display shows the current air pressure trend. Increasing air pressure (up arrow) means improving weather, while decreasing air pressure (down arrow) means worsening weather. The forecast section also displays one of three forecast icons. The icons include sunny, partly cloudy, and cloudy with rain. These icons predict the weather for 12-24 from the current time and are 75% accurate. (this forecast is achieved by averaging past air pressure trends) Overall, I find this weather station very neat. I find that it is perfect for those who are interested in the weather. For those who are absolutely obsessed with the weather, this station might fall short of what you might want. Great product for the price. If you are interested in the weather this little weather station is perfect for you. ... Read more

This black plastic and mahogany-stained wood-paneled digital clock reports the current time and indoor and outdoor temperatures to boot. The clock has a built-in antenna system that receives radio signals from the atomic clock, keeping precise time and the accurate date. Time is displayed in hours and minutes in either 12- or 24-hour mode on the top LCD screen while the lower LCD shows the month, calendar day, and day of the week in one of three languages, along with the current indoor and outdoor temperatures. The clock has an alarm with a snooze option and can be set to one of 13 time zones.

The temperature function displays in either Celsius or Fahrenheit and is measured indoors every 10 seconds. Outdoor temperature is measured remotely every 10 minutes via a 433 MHz transmitter (included) that can be positioned up to a maximum of 80 feet from the clock’s location. This clock can be wall-mounted or propped up on a desk with its fold-out stand and measures 11-3/4 by 3/4 by 7-1/2 inches. This digital clock is covered by a one-year warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde ... Read more
