5-0 out of 5 stars What marvel of cookware!!
Just got this set and we are so happy with it, that we don't know why we didn't buy it sooner. If I could give it more than 5 stars, Iwould! What quality! What fabulous engineering that went into it! We like it so much better than our All-Clad ltd set, and All-Clad is really great cookware. It's just that for me, it doesn't match up to this beauty. It's funny that Le Creuset was our first choice, but for some reason, decided to go for the All-Clad. Well, I made my first meal in it yesterday (chicken braised with sweet garlic) using the 5.5 qt dutch oven, and yellow saffron rice in the 2 qt multi-function pan. Had my dad in law over for dinner, and we all loved the meal. Because of it's fabulous even heat distribution, the meal took less time to cook whileallowing for intense flavor and aroma. It heats up quickly and is a breeze to clean. Then this morning, in the little non-stick fry pan (my set came with the non-stick 8" pan, not the enamel one seen in the Amazon pic), I made a mean omelette and it came out better than the All-Clad I had been using. I mean, this omelette just floated right off the pan! The non-stick coating is not as smooth as on the All-Clad, but I believe that this makes for a better surface, since there is some 'breathing' space between the omelette (or pancake) that allows for better cooking and also better ease of the food sliding out. Today my hubby used it for sauce and pasta, and he loved it! We also used the roaster for chicken, and that came out wonderful as well. So we are overly happy with this awesome cookware...not to mention, the gorgeous flame color!

5-0 out of 5 stars the best cookware
Awesome cookware.Cleans up really easy, and looks good too!

5-0 out of 5 stars more than a pretty color
WHEN I WAS FIVE I REMEMBER THE "PRETTY RED" POT, ON MY NEIGHBORS STOVE. SOMETHING GREAT WAS USUALLY SIMMERING, A POT ROAST OR STEW.
I KNEW OF NO OTHER FAMILY WITH SUCH A COOKING POT!
THROUGHOUT THE YEARS I HAD SENTIMENTAL MEMORIES EVERYTIME I SAW A "PRETTY RED" POT.
FINALLY, I LEARNED IT HAD A NAME...LE CREUSET.
I WAS NOT ABLE TO BUY ONE EARLY ON BECAUSE I SIMPLY COULDN'T AFFORD IT.
    I JUST HAD MY "55TH" BIRTHDAY, AND GUESS WHAT I GAVE MYSELF;
NUMBERS 22 AND 30 PANS. "RED".
I HAVE MADE THE MOST LUCIOUS LAMB SHANKS, BURGUNDY BEEF, BEAN SOUP, MINESTRONE,CHICKEN MARSALA AND BRISKET.
COOKING WITH LE CREUSET IS A DELIGHT, AND WORTH WAITING 50 YEARS.
THE ONLY THING ON MY CHRISTMAS WISH LIST IS THE LE CREUSET 6 PIECE CLASSICS.RED OF COURSE.

5-0 out of 5 stars Once in a lifetime purchase, you will cook great food.
I have been building my collecton of Le Crueset cookware for 5 years; withthe addition of each piece I appreciate the quality and durability more. You will only purchase these products once. The products ability to retainheat and simmer stocks, soups and sauces are unparalleled. From the firsttime I cooked a roast in a 2 quart dutch oven I noticed a difference in thedepth and body of the food flavors, as did my guests. The cookware is easyto care for; it is industrial strength. The colors are great and add totheir charm; all users seem to have their favorites.I have 2 criticisms fothe cookware: the weight of the pieces (not for the weak) and the lack ofcool-touch handles. ... Beautiful enough to bring to the table, yet durable enough tooutlive its 101-year warranty against defects, this heavy casserole isperfect for preparing and ceremoniously serving dishes such aschoucroute garni and braised lamb shanks. 5-0 out of 5 stars Inspiring!
A pleasure to use: great heat distribution, nice looks and it cleans easily. It's actually inspiring better food! A piece of advice, though. Handle it almost with the care you would use on non-stick surfaces, and it will reward you with easy-cleaning interior for years (mine is 2-years old, and heavily used). Scratch the coating on top of the enamel and food will start to stick to it, even though the scratches won't be visible. If food seems stuck to the surface (after a good roast in the oven), let it soak a bit and stuff comes out. Just don't try scrubbing it too hard. Another tidbit: the upper lip is not coated (the cast iron is exposed), and it may show rust if left wet for too long. Season that edge with a bit of oil, as with any other cast iron pan, and this won;t be a problem anymore. Or simply make it a habit of drying it quickly after use.

5-0 out of 5 stars Utilitarian AND Gorgeous! What more could you want?
I love this pot! Like all Le Creuset products, this comes in gorgeous porcelain enamel colors (my favorite is their classic "volcanic flame"). It is also quite heavy, being a 6 1/2 Quart cast iron pot. This is actually an advantage when cooking--using only a low flame, it maintains perfect cooking temperatures, and the heavy lid ensures that you will not lose precious moisture during long simmering. It is very difficult to burn anything in this cookware when you follow the simple direction to avoid anything over a medium heat setting. If, however, you happen to burn something in the pan, cleanup is a breeze: simply fill the pan with hot, soapy water and soak for a little while. Everything then comes quickly off with minimal fuss, thanks to the very hard and smooth enamel finish.

This oval "French Oven" is the perfect size and shape for a nice beef roast, pork tenderloin, or a delectable Boeuf Bourguignon. Be sure to check out the Le Creuset website at lecreuset.com (US, UK, and France) for a large selection of delicious recipes for your cookware. The price may seem a little steep, but bear in mind the company's unparalleled 101 year warranty--this is cookware you will never have to replace!

5-0 out of 5 stars Worth the $$! Even heat distribution and fabulous results.
I've made everything from braised short ribs to homemade Mole in this and I can truly say it is fabulous. Goes from stovetop to oven perfectly and retains heat better than any cookware I've used. Cannot reccomend it highly enough.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Value
I recently purchased this incredible piece of Le Creuset cookware and, I have to say, I am very pleased and rather impressed by it. Just removing it from its package, with its heavy weight and gorgeous colour, told me that this was a quality made product. But the proof has been in the cooking..
Thus far I have made a delicious chicken and vegetable dish and cooked preserves for canning. Everything has turned out perfectly. Cleanup was easy after some soaking with warm soapy water. This is my first, but not last, piece or Le Creuset for certain!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great saucepan
Though I admit to using it primarily for making hot chocolate (pouring spout is great), it works for other things as well.

You have to adjust your cooking style for sauces if you're not used to iron.It heats and cools slowly (high mass, lower thermal conductivity) but very evenly. The enamel coating is great, so you don't have to worry about any metals getting into your sauces.I'd recommend only using wooden or silicone utensils in it though, as metal can scratch the enamel.

I use this exclusively for stovetop, so the wooden handle is fine for me.But if you prefer a larger saucepan, or something you can place in oven, look for other Le Creuset saucepans with greater capacity and heat rated or iron handles. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars least expensive cookware - in the long run...
if you think about the life-cycle cost of this product, it is a far better value than any other cookware on the market. You can saute, deep-fat fry, roast, boil, braise, etc., etc. in this thing.should you happen to "overcook" (burn) an item - it is incredibly easy to clean without scubbing by soaking overnight in hot, soapy water.should you have to return the item under warranty (unlikely, but I have had to return one), the service is excellent and timely.

5-0 out of 5 stars Another Le Creuset Winner!
Ah, the big red pot!Every serious cook "must have" at least one, and this one is the perfect size.Heavy, but GREAT cooking, easy cleanup...and it looks fabulous to boot.Your friends will be green with envy.Get one!

5-0 out of 5 stars Well worth the money
This is my 3rd piece of le creuset. After using the 4 1/2 quart soup pan as an all purpose pan, I decided to buy this for some of the larger dishes we make.

It turned out a good purchase, especially with some of the dishes that need some sauteeing and baking. Thelid is quite heavy and fits well, which cuts down the cooking time with some pressure cooking effect if you dont open the lid too often. The flavor and taste offood... according to my wife, is the same as the stainless steel cookware I used before, but my kids say is better.

I paid $115 for this and got a bonus Le Creuset 10-Inch Skillet free. Even with this bonus offer, I think it is fairly pricey, but offers good value for the money.

5-0 out of 5 stars Must Have
This has got to be one of the best kitchen "utensils" that we have.Soups, stews, braised dishes; this guy does it all.We have the 7 quart size and it is perfect.Only once did anything burn on, and Barkeepers Helper cleaned it right up.
We use it mostly on the stove top, but it does great in the oven also.
Right up there with the stainless steel 12 in. All-Clad pan and the All-Clad 12in. non stick pan.
Pricy, but amortize the cost over 101 years (the warranty) and it is well worth it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Cook like a pro all day!
I had seen these pots in action on all of the cooking shows, so I figured they were serious cookware. After careful consideration I finally purchased the seven quart dutch oven, in the cherry red color. This size is perfect to make enough stew for my whole family, and the cooking qualities of this pot are just as they are billed. It browned the stew meat, deglazed beautifully, heated evenly, and went right in the oven for the final cooking phase. After dinner I was thrilled to see that Le Creuset'scast-iron cookware cleans just as easily as their stoneware line.Although this pot is VERY heavy, the benefits of cast iron far outweigh this "downside".I should have bought one of these pots years ago and I recommend one to anyone who loves to cook as I do. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Matte Black is not smooth
I love Le Creuset cookware, but I was not happy with the Matte Black finish.I assumed the matte finish would be on the outside of the pot- but it is on the inside as well.I even called Le Creuset support about it because I thought it was a defect.

If you read on Le Creuset's site, they go into detail how the pots are cast and then carefully sanded before being enamled.

However, this pot feels like it was just cast and then painted. It is *coarse*- I haven't used it yet, but I think it will be harder to clean, and I suspect not as durable in the long run.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Love of my Kitchen
This is the best thing I ever had in my kitchen.Although it is relatively costly, every penny is worth paying for this beautiful cast iron pot.It is the cook's best friend, second to none. One of the things I love in Le Crueset products is that you could use it from the freezer to oven, then straight to the dining table where you could proudly show it off to your guests due to its elegantly classic design.

5-0 out of 5 stars The most useful pot in my kitchen-too bad its French
This really is the best the best gift I've received in years. I can brown a chicken in olive oil on my gas burner then transfer it directly to the oven for roasting. Once finished the enamel cleans easier then just about anything else I've seen.

To heck with Al Clad and the rest.

This is the one piece that will never leave my kitchen!

5-0 out of 5 stars A versitle pot
I have used this pot for making soups, stews, and sauces. But I also use it to make a whole chicken in the oven, with the lid on.I usually make a 3-4 lb. chicken. The chicken comes out perfect after about an hour and a half. (at 375)It's moist and juicy and wonderful, with little effort.
This is the only Le Creuset I own.I bought it because I wanted a pot I could use for many dishes. So far I have been very happy with it.I use it several nights a week.

The only down side, is not being able to use metal in it.But that's the only negative I can think of.

5-0 out of 5 stars Chicken soup with rice
Like all le Creuset pots, this soup pot has awesome heat retention and a heavy lid, making it excellent for cooking rice, slow-braising meats, or gently simmering heavy sauces.Like the other le Creuset wok-shaped pots (the 4.5 qt soup and the 7.5 qt boullibase), this pot is excellent for carmelizing onions and peppers at the beginning of a recipe, reduces liquids quickly, and for thin soups is almost self-stirring.

The first drawback to this pot is its small size. The useful volume is about the same as that half-gallon container in your fridge. (OK to make lunch for two or rice for five, but way too small for a casserole). The second drawback is its enamel coating.I usually rave about the le Creuset enamel, because it soaks clean without scrubbing, and because - unlike stainless - it's totally non-reactive.But with a pot this size and shape it would be nice to be able to wisk a sauce with a wire wisk, without worrying about scratching, or to use the pot for deep-frying, without worrying about destroying the enamel.

I still use (and adore) the pot, but if you're only buying one le Creuset to test out the line, buy the 4.5 quart soup pot, not this smaller version. And if you're looking for a truly all-purpose small soup pot, consider the Kitchenaid 2.5 quart saucier instead. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Buy this!
Although a little pricey to some, you will never need to buy another! Pass this one along to your great-great grandchildren when you are through with it. Very good quality and best makers of enameled cast iron in my book. ... Read more

Equipped with a newly designed, long-lasting screw, this famouslever-action cork puller can now open 2,000 bottles of wine uninterrupted (meaning youdon't need to replace the screw). That alone makes this a great gift for wineenthusiasts. But the great-gift factor ratchets up because the wine opener comesin a handsome black case as part of a set with Screwpull's foil cutter.Operating the wine opener is a kick. Swing the lever open, grip the bottleneckwith the handles, swing the lever closed, and watch the screw penetrate thecork. Now take the lever back to the open position, and the cork comes out ofthe bottle. As an added flourish, you can use the handles to grip the cork whileyou swing the lever open again, pulling the Teflon-coated screw from the corkand softly into the operator's hand. This tool is precisely engineered, andcomes with a two-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Complements traditional wine
Traditional wine bottles are sealed with corks. The Screwpull does a fine job with only two simple lever movements of removing the cork. Wax-sealed corks are another matter. Wax is a challenge for all types of conventional wine openers including this one. For operation with wax I recommend removing the screw every 10 bottles and cleaning off the wax in order to preserve its slippery Teflon surface. When the screw gets coated with wax it is resistive to penetrating a cork, thus it exerts vertical pressure on the cork and drives it inside the bottle - not a good thing when your guests are wearing a white top and you're opening a bottle of red - keep those screws clean, Teflon or not.

Other than the wax issue the Screwpull works great and is a nice tool to have in the kitchen. If we all stayed away from high production wines with those waxed bottles the world would be a better place and the Screwpull would be an absolute dream. The Screwpull is well-built and sturdy - highly recommended!

5-0 out of 5 stars It doesn't get better than this
This is it--the end of the wine opener line. It takes about 2 minutes to get the hang of gracefully gripping the top of a wine bottle with the handles, and when to flip the lever up (which leads the teflon screw to do an effortless swan dive through the cork) vs. flipping it down (to extract the cork), but once you have it down, all other openers seem skimpy and pale. To pop the cork off the screw's tip, you repeat the same motions, with the handles in "closed" position: lever up, lever down. The cork plops onto the nearest surface. The humble foil cutter may seem like an accessory, but it's an essential: it usually takes about a half twist around the top to lift foil; if the cork is capped with wax instead, you don't even need the cutter--the screw slips right through wax. From foil to cork-plop takes about 10 seconds. It works on the nastiest, most resistant corks (even crumblers and stubborn synthetics). If you're entertaining, and opening more than one bottle, let your guests see you open the first--without fail, they'll want to try it. Designers love it. Engineers like to figure out what the gear mechanism is up to. Wine connoisseurs already own it. I received mine as a gift, but if it ever disappears, I'll spring for the high-altitude price. Individual pieces in this gift set are also worth owning, including the spare teflon screw--which is one of the keys to the opener's success. (After 6 months my original screw is nowhere near needing replacing.) I only wish the name of this wonderful thing matched the elegance of its design. Note: the Metrokane Rabbit is based on the same design for a notably lower price, so it's a good option--but I've tried both, and for me this is just It--it's sturdier, has a great hinged storage box that fits in a drawer, and there are no ifs. (The one time I used a Rabbit, it wouldn't let go of the extracted cork.)

    1-0 out of 5 stars Don't bother
Worked fine for about a dozen bottles, then broke. Same thing happened with one my mother-in-law bought for herself. I would not recommend.

5-0 out of 5 stars Superb, but worth the money?
I love using this thing. It works perfectly. Takes up a little more room in the drawer than other corkscrews but it's flawless at extraction. But is it worth [the money paid]?? I don't think so. I found one elsewhere for half that price.

5-0 out of 5 stars What was I thinking?
My wife gave me a Screwpull many years ago. I must have pulled over 2,000 corks without changing the worm. One day, I had a problem with a cork & used brute force - so no more Screwpull.

I new that my wife had paid [$$$] & that the Rabbit (at half that price) was getting good press; so I made my second mistake.

The Rabbit started out good but the worm began to stick after a dozen corks. Another problem: when the cork didn't come out easily, the Rabbit pinched my fingers as I released the cork.

Thankfully, after 9 months, the Rabbit gave up the ghost. The worm unravelled & couldn't be removed.

I have just received a new Screwpull from Amazon. At [$$] it is competitively priced, but price is not the point. I expect the Screwpull to last indefinitely. I have learned my lesson - don't use brute force. The worm is now supposedly good for 2,000 pulls. Three or four worms should see me through.

I have seen some negative reviews for both products, but I can't identify with the problems attributed to the Screwpull. However, the more numerous negative Rabbit reviews reflect my own experience.

I have two tips. When dealing with wax seals, remove the wax before using the corkscrew. If the worm meets resistance in a cork, revert to an old fashioned corkscrew - the cork may be a high-tech product for which neither product is suited.

For those who have never used this type of product, I can say that after 10 years I have never had a cork break.

For those thinking of reviewing either product - wait until you have removed 50 corks. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The ultimate lasagna pan!
I have been thrilled with the heft and quality of the Le Creuset poterie line - and this is no exception. After years of trial and error I have found this to be the perfect pan for my lasagna. I like to make BIG batches of lasagna, and this pan lets me feed an army. The color and finish are flawless and that famous Le Creuset non-stick ability is in full force here. Even after baking a big lasagna in it, washing this thing by hand is a piece of cake!

So, to sum up: Its large, it looks great, it cooks evenly, and it is very easy to clean after use. All of that for a pretty good price too! Highly recommended!

Le Creuset's cast-iron 2-in-1 pan (known as a marmitout) is a versatile pieceof cookware suitable for any kitchen. The base, which serves as a saucepan, and the lid, which doubles as a nonstick omelet pan, are beautifully finished in double-coatedporcelain enamel and can be used on the stove, under the broiler, and in the oven. Thesaucepan holds 3 quarts and measures 10-1/4 inches across, and the lid/omelet panmeasures approximately 9-3/4 inches across. Both pans feature a metal handle and thesaucepan's small helper handle makes lifting it from the oven or stovetop an easier task.Heatproof gloves or a dry cloth are required to lift these pans because the metal handlesget hot. Wooden, plastic, and nylon tools should be used, and an instruction manual withrecipes is included. 5-0 out of 5 stars A great omelet pan topping off a monster saucepan
I got my first Le Creuset cookware in 1978. ... It turned out to be one of my better investments, as I still use all the pieces today. I now have 3 French ovens, 5 covered saucepans, 3 skillets, 1 oval au gratin, & 1 cheese fondue set, all in flame. These cast iron utensils are virtually indestructible, except for a few minor dings in the outer enamel. They cook very evenly, given the cast iron, making me a possibly better than average cook (they're one of my unfair advantages). My only problems with the cookware are the heavy weight ...

My newest Le Creuset acquisition is the 3-qt multi 2-in-1 pan with 9&1/2" nonstick omelette cover. I never had a good omelet pan before, & that's what initially caught my eye. I was about to buy just that, but then I noticed that you could also get it as a top to the 3-qt 2-in-1, achieving a very large covered saucepan in the process, so I went for it. I can't say enough good things about the omelet pan. I now make professional 2- & 3-egg omelets stuffed with goodies. The nonstick coating really works & is quite tough (as I would expect with Le Creuset). Combine it with the bottom of the pan, & you have a saucepan that's as big or bigger than a couple of my French ovens, & you can use it on the stovetop or in the oven. I would definitely advise getting the combination for the bigger bang for the buck. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great little grill!
Bought this grill as a Gold Box special and do not regret it.Perfect size for 2-3 hamburgers or 2-3 chicken breasts.

    Some things I recommend:
    (1) If you have electric stovetop, heat the grill slowly from low to medium, then to just a touch above medium heat.Let the grill get hot--check to see that a drop of water bubbles then dries up.Then apply PAM or cooking oil. This will help minimize sticking. If grill gets too hot, turn down to medium heat.
    (2) The first few times you use the grill, you will have some food sticking.Allow a patina to develop and it will not stick as much.
    (3) Yes, it does smoke. You are grilling inside!
    (4) If you try to cook things too quickly using high heat you will damage the grill.

1-0 out of 5 stars Pretty, but what else?
I purchased this grill because it showed up in my daily "Gold Box" at a reasonable price.Inasmuch as I am an incurable meat eater, I grill a lot of hamburgers and steaks. As it's inefficient to fire up a charcoal grill for one little steak or hamburger (I don't think gas grills have the flavor), the skinny grill seemed a good idea.I usually just pan fry in either my dad's old cast iron pan or my copper bottom Revere Ware pan.Because I buy New York strip steaks and burgers with the lowest fat content possible, I have never had much of a problem with fat in either of my regular pans. But now, so I reasoned, - I CAN HAVE SEAR MARKS!Not worth the thought; although I did not turn my electric coils up to high or anywhere near high, it seemed that the enamel on the bottom of the grill wanted to cook faster than the meat in the pan. (The enamel is still on my coils and it has been several weeks since I last used the skinny grill.) Further, in my opinion, the little handles on either side of the pan look nice, but were hard to grip when holding hot pads because they are TOO little. (With an electric cooktop, one obviously has to move the pan immediately upon completion of cooking.)As for the smoking pan, I did think that there was more smoke with this grill than with my usual pan but that was not my major complaint. If you like a steak that is "seared and rare" I don't think this pan is for you. You will end up with a seared and melted enameled grill.I did return the grill and, thanks to Amazon, it was received without question and no UPS return charges were applied to my credit.

5-0 out of 5 stars Use it all the time and its great!!
I use this thing all the time for cooking steaks and it works great for grilling evenly.
I grill for a few minutes on stovetop at high heat and put it directly into an oven to bring the inside of the meat up to temperature.
Perfectly cooked meat and just a single pan.Easy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love This Baby!
Used my grill for the first time tonight.Grilled two good size steaks and added onions and pepper towards the end of grilling. Everything turned out FABULOUS!!

Had no trouble cleaning the grill.

Heated grill for a few minutes on medium/low.

Waiting until drop of water did a little dance.

Turned steak when juices were lying on top/could feel muscle when pressing top/middle of steak. (Don't turn too soon)

Following the above "meat won't stick."After pan cooled for approximately 5 minutes I put water in pan. After soaking for 10 minutes it cleans beautifully with warm water and a nylon pot brush.

After using other grill pans this is a dream.Take the time to read the directions and you will be all set.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Deal!
I purchased this item as a "bonus offer" to another Le Creuset item I purchased, even though I didn't think I'd get much use out of it since I already had the Le Creuset double burner grill.Turns out though, I use this little grill more often than my larger grill, or any of my other Le Creuset pieces. It's the perfect size for grilling up a couple of chicken breasts, salmon fillets, or steaks when I'm cooking for just my husband and myself.I can also grill up to four burgers on it.Just like my larger grill, I love the cooking results I get from using this little grill, but it's especially handy when I need access to my other burners on my stovetop. It's also much easier to clean than the double burner grill.

Le Creuset is famous for coating its heavy, cast-iron cookware with not just one, but two--count 'em, two--layers of enamel baked on at 1,450 degrees F, resulting in gloriously bright colors. This bright-red, heart-shaped casserole adds a note of whimsy to dishes, but its 2-quart capacity, handles, and heavy-duty construction make it practical as well. Both its interior and exterior are enameled--as are the bottoms of all Le Creuset pots and pans--to prevent scratching glass-topped stoves. The enamel surface will not react with any acidic foods and is easy to clean. The weight and nature of cast iron make for even heat distribution. 5-0 out of 5 stars A Sweetheart of A Pan
I've used my Le Creuset enameled cast iron cookware for over 10 years; I'd be lost without it. The excellent heat retention and even heat distribution allow you to cook over low-medium heat; you'll save energy and your cookware will last longer. But who am I kidding?--I bought my Le Creuset pans because they're pretty and oh so French! That they're energy efficient, sturdy, and easy to clean are just bonus points.

Although I own a set of the cobalt blue pans, the heart shaped red pan with lid is my favorite Le Creuset piece. It would make a great Mother's Day or Valentine's Day gift; then again it would make a wonderful present to yourself!

5-0 out of 5 stars Le Creuset 2-Quart Heart Casserole, Cherry Red
From baking to stove-top and table service, this is a wonderful product. It is nice and heavy with a level bottom for those cooking on a ceramic surface. Things cook evenly and if you keep the temperature low its ceramic surface is easy to clean. Most of all, I like the lovely heart shape!

5-0 out of 5 stars And The Heart Will Go On
Le Creuset holds a well-deserved global reputation for its superior cooking products and this whimsical heart shaped casserole dish is no exception. My teens sons honored me with this beauty last Valentine's Day. And to my surprise it was not wrapped, it was warm to the touch, and when I slowly lifted the cherry red lid, my heart soared--they had filled that heart with their version of my homemade baked macaroni & three-cheese casserole recipe!

As we all grabbed forks, eating right out of the pan, in between bites, they excitedly took turns telling me all about the pan; "Mom--it's so cool, even the lid can go in the oven, (up to 450 degrees) it's that cast iron stuff you like so much, only coated, we can put it right in the dishwasher AND guess what? You can cook all your good stuff in it for 101 years!" (the warranty)

I'm not sure what made this the best present I ever received--the weighty, cooks everything deliciously, crimson pan or two teen sons taking the time to let me know, I, as a parent must be doing something right.

2-0 out of 5 stars Tiny
I have no idea how other reviewers claim that they can cook a roast in this casserole. I have to admit it's very cute but I am heart broken that I cannot use this for anything other than to keep spaghetti sauce warm and a pretty decoration on my stove. I love it and want to use it more, but it's simply too small to cook anything other than a few potatoes.

1-0 out of 5 stars my favorite pot
My mother gave me an 8 qt lecreuset pot as a birthday gift. It has seen a lot of use over the last 10years. Through normal use the coating on the bottom has completely worn away revealing the cast iron interior. Are these guarenteed? If so I would love to replace it so that i can again say that it is my favorite pot.

5-0 out of 5 stars Kick George Foreman to the Curb...
Don't let the high price tag and the cast iron thing scare you away from this great product. It's not your mother's cast iron of stuck-on messes and rust in your food. It's very easy to season, and from there it works great. We've been able to cook everything from salmon, to buffalo, to pineapples with no sticking.
Unlike it's predecessor, the George Foreman grill, it cooks many kind of foods beautifully without drying it out or sticking. The key...temperature control. Since it works with your stove, you can control the amout of heat you need.
Also, having a wee kitchen, it's nice not to have another appliance taking up valuable counter space.
One of the best features is the lifetime warranty. And they mean it too. My friend had a Le Creuset teapot that rusted out and they sent her a replacement for free.
Sure it's pricey, but you get what you pay for with this pan.

5-0 out of 5 stars You'll eat more veggies and fish! Healthy and tasty!
Wow, I love this pan!I also live in an apartment, so this is a great substitute for outdoor grilling when you want a quick dinner. It's not as good as the outdoor charcoal grill, but this has some advantages. It'ssuper easy.I use this pan several times a week.I pre-heat the pan, brush a little canola oil to the ribs, and while it warms up to the right temperature, I prepare the food.I cut some veggies (can use zucchini, squash, small eggplant, onions, bell pepper, etc), on the bias, so there's more surface area, toss with olive oil, salt & pepper, and grill. You may have to do several rounds of it if you have lots of veggies. After cooking until just tender, toss with a little balsamic vinegar and olive oil.DELICIOUS!!Also, we've been grilling some great local wild salmon on this pan.It is unbelievable. It is very quick, so don't overcook.Season with salt and pepper, and anything you like. Just practice a couple times, experiment with the temperature and your technique, and you'll see how easy and tasty it is.If you can get some homegrown or organic produce, it's so much more tasty.Simple grilling complements good ingredients.

4-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful product, even though it's specialized
The only reason why this doesn't get the last star, in my book, is because of its somewhat limited usefulness. However, if you live in an apartment or otherwise anywhere where grilling is impossible, this is the next best thing....like all other Le Creuset products this heats evenly and wonderfully and takes abuse.I got mine as part of a 6-piece set (along with a Dutch Oven, Baking Pan, and Casserole) and sorta at first saw this as a "filler" piece. However, to it's credit, this pan can do even easilly-burned items like tofu dogs and fake bacon WONDERFULLY, which shocked me--I was convinced that nothing could give a "grilled" effect to those items. I even got adventerous the first time I used it and grilled some apple rings.I panicked when some sugar seemed to be burnt on for good despite a good soaking, but after the pot had been dried and put away for 48 hours it flaked right off.Forget what you know about nonstick surfaces, btw, and banish those bad memories of cruddy, flaking Teflon from the 70's.Just treat this well (I only use wooden utensils on it) and it will treat you well.Follow the instructions and enjoy!Just be sure to use a potholder and realize that once this thing gets hot it STAYS hot for a LONG time.

5-0 out of 5 stars MANY A MEAL FROM THIS SQUARE DEAL!
    (1) Where is it written, who decreed that skillets should be round?(2) Why has it taken me so long to discover the advantages of a square fry pan?

The answers are: nowhere that I know of, and because my mother always used a round skillet. She would have loved this enameled cast iron beauty that leaves appetizing sear marks on meat - a char effect without the mess. The ribbed base captures grease allowingfor healthier low fat cooking, and the surface isa satiny black enamel that cleans in a breeze.

It's compatible with all heating surfaces, and has an easy hold comfortable handle. We lightly applied vegetable oil to the ribs before our first use, and for several times thereafter.Since then there has been no need for the addition of oils.By heating the grill for a few minutes on medium heat (test with a drop of water and heat until water droplets sizzle) we've found the cooking surface primed for superior cooking.

This nifty item has such a plethora of uses - it can be used in the oven (keep your oven glove at the ready) or even on a backyard barbecue.

    Amazon.com Review

The versatile Le Creuset Grill is a reversible cooking pan for making grill marks on fresh salmon filets or griddling up a batch of burgers. It's enameled cast iron holds the heat over any cooking source and distributes it evenly from one end of the grill to the other--the cast iron is made using traditional foundry techniques and Le Creuset's well-known workmanship. The pan is coated with satin black enamel to avoid odor absorption, so this morning's French toast won't taste like last night's fajitas. The slim grill slides away for storage and is dishwasher-safe. --Lynne Sampson ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Bad enamel, too expensive
I just got this grill and was very excited to use it. It cooked my spareribs to perfection and I was elated. It all stopped there. It took some doing to clean the grill, as you cannot use abrasives for fear of ruining the enamel coating as stated in the instructions. Then when I took it out to use it the next day it had rust dots all over it.

So from my experience, the enamel coating doesn't make it easier to clean and does not seal it from rusting. These are the reason I paid the big bucks for a great name like Le Creuset. For 1/4 the price you can get a regular cast iron griddle that should provide the same results...

    4-0 out of 5 stars Great...but expensive
Just a clue in here, this is a great product... but you can get the exact same thing, but at a cheaper price. The Mirro Non Stick Double Burner Griddle is actually the same thing, with a little bigger grease runnoff area.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great grill & griddle
I've had this griddle for about a month, and am quite pleased overall. It is heavyweight, and has a tough black enameled finish that quickly builds up a slight seasoning (oily film) within a few uses. Foods stick much less than then would on a raw cast iron grill. It does a great job cooking pancakes, bacon, or grilling hamburgers or steak.

The only negative qualities are that it could use a larger reservoir for grease, and it would be handy to have larger handles if you need to pick it up hot. But these negatives do not outweigh its use.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not recommended for ceramic cooktops
As soon as I took the grill out of the box, I was disappointed to discover that the edges of the grill were rough. As it has no handles to use to "place" the grill into position on the stove, I would not even attempt to put it on my new stove for fear of scratching the ceramic top. Based on my experience with Le Creuset products, I believe I would have loved this grill and given it 5 stars IF I had a regular stove.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just bloody fantastic!
Living in an apartment doesn't allow me the space to have the luxury of being able to grill foods and I love grilled food. So finally I broke down and put in an order for the Le Creuset reversable grill. I finally received this wonderful reversable grill just a couple of days ago and since then I have been grilling like crazy. The heavy weight of the reversable grill remains in place over the two burners while I am flipping the food which is quite helpful. I also like how the fat of the meat drips down to the side, meaning that the food isn't drowning in its own fat which a lot of health conscious people can appreciate. I just discovered that when cleaning the grill, it helps that it is under running water and/or soaking in the sink filled with soapy water but you have to wait until it has cooled off from being over the hot stovetop. I don't mind so much about cleaning it because I honestly love grilling food and everything else doesn't matter to me. I haven't used the griddle side yet but when I do it will be so much more convient than using a couple of pans to cook my eggs and bacon. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic pot
I received this for Christmas and use it almost every day.So far nothing has stuck, not even when I burned the pudding (it came out with a rubber scrapper). It is a breeze to clean and a joy to use.I will definitly buy more.

excelent product. more people should get into low heat cooking.

5-0 out of 5 stars Versatile and worth every penny!
I've owned this dutch oven for 3 years now and I must say, I use it at least 3-4 times a week. It is so versatile that you can make anything from soup to chili to even stir-frying when necessary. Although after using it for about a year the bottom looked really yucky, I bought some of the Le Creuset enamel cleaner and it was as good as new again. I love this pot and recommend it to anyone who wants a piece that they can use for almost anything. My only complaint about Le Creuset items is that it is extremely heavy due to it being made of cast iron. However... that's what makes it so durable and will last you a life time!

5-0 out of 5 stars A Lifetime of Great Cooking
It seems as though there are few things left in the world that are truly great values. However, these Le Creuset classics undoubtedly qualify. While a little more expensive than the competition, they offer uncompromising quality and exceptional performance.

When you pick up one of these pieces the weight sends a message: this is substantial, no-nonsense cookware that will last. Plus, they are a joy to cook with. The French/Dutch ovens are perfect for braising, simmering and roasting. They are the equal of any of the anodized aluminum cookware at low heat and much better at higher temperatures. I routinely sear meats on a high gas flame in them before adding vegetables and stock for braising.

If you're someone who cares about food and cooking, you'll want a couple of these Le Creuset pieces in different sizes. But pick your colors carefully . . . you're going to have to live with them a very long time!-- Scott Loban

5-0 out of 5 stars Creuset Casseroles are the Best
The single best pots for doing rich chicken dishes and the like. Conducts heat perfectly, well-balanced and very easly to clean. So many great meals have emerged from these pots that I tend to cook more frequently, especially the more slow-cooking or complex dishes.

I inheirited one ofthese pots and then bought another. Since then I have excused all similarimitations from the kitchen.

If I had to equipt my kitchen with 3cooking pots/pans, this would come right after the skillet and sauce pan. ... Read more
