Amazon.com Review

Simply place this ricer over any bowl or pot, squeeze the gadget's handles, and mashed fruits and vegetables, especially potatoes, ooze right through. A nonslip knob helps hold it in place, and its soft handles have a comfortable grip. Great for mashed potatoes or for making your own baby food, it's made of stainless steel to withstand repeated use.

The Good Grips line features durable, nonslip, flexible handles on every product. Ergonomically designed to fit the palm comfortably, the pressure-absorbing, processed rubber handle puts less tension on the hands, while still providing an outstanding grip. Made from the same material as dishwasher gaskets, the handles are slip-proof, wet or dry, as well as dishwasher-safe. Good Grips products are moderately priced and have won the Tylenol/Arthritis Foundation Design Award. --Laurie Notaro ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Over priced, but nice!
If you want mashed potatoes with no lumps, then a ricer is just what you're looking for! The Oxo easy grip handles are nice, but you're paying an extra $14 for them. You can find the exact same product with out the fancy handles at most stores for six bucks, as opposed to twenty dollars for this product. If it were not for the price, this item would be a five out of five stars for sure!

5-0 out of 5 stars Nicer Ricer
Saw one of these on "Nigella Bites" - was intrigued and bought one. Makes the smoothest creamiest mashed potatoes with an absolute minimum of effort. Don't know how product could be better so 5 stars.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wow, i cant believe it!
I just bought this on a whim I could get other things with free shipping. This funky doohickey has got to be one of the most innovative items i've ever used. If you love mashed potatoes, this is a must have! No more dried potato flakes as making mashed potatoes is very very very easy! Just boil 3-4 potatoes, add 1/2 cup milk and 4 tbsp of butter, and you have amazing mashed potatoes. I also used this to make guacamole too!

3-0 out of 5 stars ricers are great...but
this isn't the ricer to buy. No multiple disks for versatility. Only 11 inchs long and a small basket. Its well made, mostly stainless, but the choice is clear...cuisipro. (worth the extra 3 bucks...)

5-0 out of 5 stars A superior product
This is a great item. The best possible mashed potatoes without peeling! This is high in quality and function. It handles dishwashing with ease. Most highly recommended. ... Read more

What, no lumps? If you prefer the homemade texture of mashed root vegetables but without the chunks, this is the tool you've been searching for. 4-0 out of 5 stars good product, comfortable grip
This is a good product. I have used it on potatoes (all root veggies actually) as well as things like apples cooked for apple sauce. It is easy to use with a comfy grip.

That said..i still feel like i need a ricer. I think if I had got the ricer first I wouldnt feel the need for a masher so I am thinking probably it would have been a better buy to just get the ricer... storing all this kitchen stuff is always an issue for me.

The company that makes this has consistantly made excellent products (great heat resistant spatulas too) and this is one more. I think this is a great buy if this is all you will need. If you will ultimately need a ricer anyway...consider getting that first and than see if you still need this

5-0 out of 5 stars This tool is perfection!
Finally, a hybrid between a ricer & the old "wavy-wire" tool your mother used.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is it.
The design staff at OXO really have it together. One after the other they create winners. This is no exeption. It's sturdily built, has a beautiful finish, and seems to have the perfect size and shape to mash the most potatoes with the least effort. My kind of tool. Besides, it looks great, and that doesn't hurt when it's off duty.

3-0 out of 5 stars Mash them Taters
If you like mashed potatoes and need a device that will help you turn ordinary round potatoes into something mashed and yummy this is the thing you should buy. If you are looking for a gizmo that will create grated cheese or something that will help achieve world peace then this is not the thing you should buy...unless you don't already have one because everyone should have one.

1-0 out of 5 stars Wasn't impressed
I wasn't impressed with this item for one reason. It arrived at my home broken. How well made could it have been if it arrived in two pieces?

I have loved all the other OXO items that I have purchased, but this one was a loser. ... Read more

The rolling herb mincer by Oxo finely chops broad- and small-leafed herbs such as parsley, oregano, and basil evenly and thoroughly. Just roll the mincer over a flat surface and fresh herbs are ready almost instantly. The stainless-steel blades ensure durability. The mincer disassembles for easy cleanup in the dishwasher.

5-0 out of 5 stars Makes mincemeat of mincing!
I've loved every product put out by Oxo, and this one is no exception! I use it at least 3 times a week, and I've tried mincing fresh rosemary, thyme, sage, basil, and dill, all with great success. It's a quick and easy operation, and does not require much pressure, so it's very easy on the hands. Best of all, I think the rolling action of the blades produces much better minced herbs compared to using just shears or a mandoline. Clean-up is very easy, too. I highly recommend this product!

4-0 out of 5 stars Sturdy and functional
I bought this about a month ago and have used it numerous times. Reading the other reviews, I am a bit perplexed by claims that this doesn't cut through basil, cilantro, etc. I've used this mincer to cut both of these herbs and more. Mincing parsley to tiny bits was easy as well. Of course, being an Oxo utensil, the handle is very comfortable. Recommended.

1-0 out of 5 stars USELESS
The OXO Miner does not mince. It only bruised basil and parsley. We are still trying to find out what we can use it for.

1-0 out of 5 stars WOULD NOT RECOMMEND
ITALIAN PARSLEY JUST BRUISED INSTEAD OF CUT. CHIVES AND BASIL DID NOT FAIR AS WELL EITHER. I DIDN'T WANT TO RUIN ANY OTHER HERBS SO I JUST STOPPED THERE. THE CONCEPT SEEMED SO GREAT AND I WAS SO EXCITED TO FIND A PRODUCT THAT WOULD HELP WITH SUCH A TEDIOUS TASK UNTIL I TRIED IT.

1-0 out of 5 stars Rolling herb mutilator
Like all OXO products, this is ergonomic. However, it has the slight flaw that it doesn't actually mince herbs. Tried it with parsely, a fairly durable herb that slices easily. The herb mincer managed to slice through some of the leaves on top, but left a layer of mutilated leaves underneath! It did not matter how hard I pushed, the bruised leaves would not cut! Even if it did work the wheels are not closely spaced enough to mince; I would describe it as closer to chopped. You will be much better off with a sharp knife than with this worse than useless product. I returned mine the same day. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding quality and great price.
This wire potato masher, like the rest of the products from the OXO Good Grips line, is a great value of superior quality, unsurpassed durability, and flawless performance. Its ergonomic design, hefty body, and big, pressure-absorbing, non-slip grip, complete with flexible fins to accommodate your fingers, are the reasons why you'll prefer this product over the more traditional models, as they will allow you comfortable, daily, wet or dry use while keeping you away from any stress-related injuries.

2-0 out of 5 stars Works ok, sturdy, difficult to clean.
This masher looks great, is (so far) sturdy, but is difficult to clean.

4-0 out of 5 stars Works great!
In true OXO Good-grips style this works great! It is slightly circular so that it can mash all the way around the pan and it didn't destroy the non-stick on my pan when I tried it (somewhat nervously) the other day. My only complaint with it is that it doesn't fit in a normal kitchen drawer. ... Read more
