Black and Decker Rice cooker
This cooker was very disapointing. Left unattended for cooking time (45 min.) it spit pasty rice steam all over the counter, toaster and above cupboards which is hard to get off when dry. Did not matter how much water you put in.

Lemon of a cooker
Bought cooker and used it three times -- it smelled like something was burning and quit working!!! I have been trying to get Target or Black and Decker to replace or honor warranty--I haven't heard from either. Buy the Sanyo rice cooker from their website! I gave my 10 year old Sanyo rice cooker to my daughter and she is still using it!!! Good luck if you buy the Black and Decker product!!!

glass in food is not quite tasty
I am *very* disappointed in this purchase. I have used this cooker less than 10 times, and each time the rice has been dry and gross. My mother has a rice cooker that's going on ten years of steady use, and the rice always turns out flawless - i know that good rice cookers exist. The sojirushi (sp?) are excellent and well worth the extra cost. Consequently, where I thought i would save a few bucks and go Black & Decker, I have now decided to spend more for the better product and will purchase a sojirushi. This cooker is also DANGEROUS. The steam from the top does not escape properly, and caused a fracture in the glass lid. Chunks of the lid literally fell off in the process of cooking! I wrote to black and decker for a replacement and they routed me to another company that apparently sells these products with the Black and Decker name. This new company, well they didn't even dignify me with more of a response than to call customer service. Apparently it is not a major concern that their faulty product is shooting shards of glass into people's basmati. Thinking of buying this cooker? My humble advice is to just say no.

Not a good product
I have purchased this rice cooker twice. The first year it burned out, literally. I purchased another one and the same thing happened this morning, almost a year later.
Pros: It is extremely easy to use, easy to clean, and is inexpensive.
Cons: Do not use this product under cabinetry. It will cause moisture stains/damage, even if the cabinetry is mounted high. Foam will bubble out of the cooker and onto the counter. The life expectancy of this cooker is only 1 year with moderate to heavy use.

DEFINITELY A "DON'T BUY"
This machine will boil over with a starchy bubbling mess to clean up - even when cooking the smallest quantity of rice. The vent hole on the top will also get clogged - making it dangerous to lift the lid. DO NOT LEAVE UNATTENDED. It seems a good value, because it has a large capacity & a removable pan to make clean-up easier - and believe me that's because cleaning up after this machine is a mess. The rice is always soggy on top - with a crust on the bottom. You would be better off using instant rice or cooking it on the stove the old fashioned way - it's less trouble then cleaning up after this machine. Cooks rice, but you'll need a scrubber.
The rice cooker seems to overheat everytime and sends froth boiling over. This can be avoided by opening the top from time to time. The rice tends to stick to the metal after you are done. With a close eye the rice will turn out fine. However, this product fails the test for convenience. I'd rather use the stovetop with some good cookware and a timer than use this. I suggest looking for a product with better non-stick material and one that doesn't overheat.

Sticky rice, but stuck to the bottom of the pot!
I grew up in Japan, so I am pretty picky when it comes to how I like my rice. This was given me as a gift, and although I wouldn't have chosen an American brand of rice cooker, I was surprised at how well the rice turned out. I was using Japanese rice. The cooker gets the rice pretty perfect in less than 35 minutes for 6 cups, which is fairly fast. Unfortunately, the first time I used it, I left it on the "warm" setting for over an hour. This was never a problem with my older Japanese rice cookers, which do not have a glass lid, but whose tops are normally hinged, preventing you from seeing the contents until they have finished cooking.
After everyone had come and gone and finished eating, I could see the bottom of the pot, and noticed the yellow color of the rice that was hardened there. I soaked the pot, (which is not dishwasher-safe, by the way, as neither the lid nor utensils that accompany this set are) and decided to unplug the rice cooker immediately the next time.
I did unplug it the following night after it had finished cooking and the light automatically switched over to the "warm" setting. However, upon stirring up the rice to loosen it so that the texture would be uniform, I noticed again the same problem on the bottom of the pot. I am disappointed in this particular feature of the rice cooker, but I noticed the price was at least $100 lower than a traditional Asian rice steamer/pressure cooker, and since I didn't purchase this myself, I can't complain - but I do give it only 4 stars because of this problem, as well as the low quality of the rice scooper and paddle. ... TERRIBLE
What a waste of money, time and energy! It doesn't cut the cheese! I bought this product to reduce the strain and fatigue on my wrist, instead it added to it. It was extremely difficult to get it to shred the cheese and when it finally did, it clumped up inside the unit and not to mention the clean up.

Made in China crap
Black and Decker management should be ashamed of themselves for this product. There is no way that any one of them could have possibly tested this made in China piece of crap. It makes a lot of noise and then binds up as soon as anything touches the blade. The only cheese that gets cut is the chunk you cut with a knife to put against the thing. I'd give this zero stars but, one is the lowest allowed.

Don't waste your money
I own quite a few Black and Decker products, and they are all great, so I trusted the name when I purchased this item. I bought it because I have problems with my hands, and was very excited about being able to grate cheese. This was a total waste of my money, and I am surprised Black and Decker would sell a product that doesn't live up to their reputation. In my opinion, this is a piece of junk!

A very good medium priced electric knife
I bought this knife to avoid tragic turkey incidents. You see, I used to try to carve my Thanksgiving Turkey by hand with poor results (as in, "Gee Tom would you rather have a 1 inch slab of Turkey or a wafer thin piece?") I bought the knife as it was in the perfect middle area between the cheapie knives and the $50 models.

After cutting my first turkey with this knife, I wished I had bought one years ago. This knife is just great--the rubber handle lets you keep the knife firmly in hand even when you get turkey grease on your hand. Also, there is a handle over the trigger so you cannot turn the knife on when changing the blade. And the bottom line is that this cuts like a dream. I've used it on everything from turkey to roasts with great results--it allows me to easily cut nice uniform slices. No more tragic turkey incidents!!!!

The only reason I am here today writing a review is because I wanted to order another knife as a Christmas gift and saw that this knife received a poor review which I just don't understand. My knife is probably about 4 years old and I still love it.

This knife stinks. FIND ANYTHING ELSE
Absolutely the worst knife I have ever used. By FAR. Ergo, as in ergonomic??? NOT. Can't even hold the on-switch on for a full minute, it keeps turning off. What a HUGE PAIN. AVOID.

This thing is amazing!
I'm a poor college kid and I hate cleaning. But I knew I had to do something when I saw a colony of bacteria forming it's own government in the corner of my shower. So I got the Scumbuster. I love this thing!

It wiped out that colony in a heartbeat. I did the whole tub in about 5 minutes. It used to take me 20 and my arm and back would hurt when I was done. The scumbuster even got rid of that nasty gunk between the tiles in the shower.

I then did hte toilet which was also disgusting and it cleaned it right up in about 3 minutes. I cleaned the sink and it now shines.

I also used my Scumbuster on the kitchen stove. I made Spaghetti a few weeks ago and the sauce splattered everywhere. I didn't clean it out of spite. But i used my scumbuster and it was no problem.

Basically, you can use this thing anywhere you'd use a sponge. And you can use any cleaner you want. I used Soft Scrub and Windex in the bathroom and kitchen.

The only bad part is that when you get it you'll probably all ready to clean - you know, you're in the zone! But you have to wait 6 hours for the battery to charge before you can do anything. After that it's all good.

Each scrubber is incredibly easy to put on and take off. In fact the whole thing is easy to use. I only read the directions once to see how long the battery had to charge. Other than that, it's all self-explanatory.

Also, I love the color of the Scumbuster!

Fantastic product, but hard to find replacement scrub pads
I LOVE this product for cleaning my bathroom. It used to take me forever and a lot of elbow grease to get the job done, but this tool really makes it easy. I use the white scrub pads for my fiberglass tub and my sink and countertop, and the coarser blue pads for my toilet bowl. It does a beautiful job.

As for the reviewers who mentioned that the battery only is supposed to last about 30 minutes, I found that the tool makes the job go so much faster that I have never used up the battery yet. Also, I don't know what people are talking about that complain about the scrubber rotating too slowly--I'm very, very pleased with how well this product works.

The one thing that made me give this four stars instead of five is that it is difficult to find replacement scrub pads. Most of the places that carry the ScumBuster don't carry any of the accessory packs. I've even looked online, including Amazon, and no luck. Fortunately there is a Black & Decker outlet near enough to me that I get there once in a while--otherwise I don't know where I would find them.

Scumbuster --B&D's best-kept secret!
This is the most useful cleaning tool I own. A multitude of brushes and pads snap on to clean anything including the kitchen sink: walls, dishes, bathtub, counters, cabinets, and the ring on the toilet. Gently clean painted surfaces, or strip off nasty old paint with grease remover and the coarse pads. Why do you not know what I'm talking about? This is the best-kept secret Black and Decker ever had. You may find a scumbuster in a (store) --but ask a salesperson and you'll most likely receive an open-mouthed "huh". If you get lucky you may even find some accessories at (a store) (you'll quickly want two batteries just for starters; the hour or so you get on a charge won't begin to cover the uses you'll find). Amazon's one of the few places on the Web where you can find a Scumbuster, and you have to tweak its search engine to "all products" or it will tell you there's no such thing. This nifty tool makes a GREAT gift for people who love or hate to clean, car nuts, and just about anyone. Shame on you, B&D, for hiding your best invention ever!!!

One of the best things I ever purchased!!!
I don't know about you, but one of the things I detest most in life is scubbing my bathroom! The Black and Decker ScumBuster has made cleaning my tub and tiles SO much easier!! I bought it on a whim and it cut my cleaning time in half. I just spray the cleaner on my tub and bathroom walls and go over it once with the Scum Buster and I am done. It gets in the grout and everything. The mildew and soap scum just melt off my shower doors!
The ScumBuster is so user friendly, you can use it on your kitchen cuboards, or if you have dogs or kids like I do, you can even use it on your walls.
I gave one to my mother in Florida and she uses it to clean the tiles around her pool! She is also very pleased with this product.
All in all, the ScumBuster equals less work, and I think it is worth every penny!

THIS ITEM SHOULD BE RECALLED
I purchased this item...with excitement and enthusiasm...but it did not live up to my expectations. You can not clean around the edges between floor and wall...it won't let you apply enough pressure to scrub...and it is slower than I imagined...and on top of all of that...my 5 yr old daughter innocently thought that it was a curling brush when I had it out to clean my master bathroom...and it yanked out HUGE amounts of her hair...it tore out all of her bangs...and a strip about 6" by 1.5" from front to back...then it caused so much trauma to her scalp that her hair wouldn't grow back and we had to apply treatments to her hair that only started to work after 4 weeks of applying it...so she went about 6 months with a complete bald spot. Poor thing had to start her kindergarten year like this...and every 5 mins she was asking if her bald spot was showing...it broke my heart!!! I felt that Black and Decker was liable because there is no safety mechanisms integrated. It could at least have a switch like a drill so that when you apply pressure to the trigger it turns on and when you let go it turns off...no such thing...this thing is on until you can find the DADGONE power button to switch it off. Not for Hard Surface Floors! BEWARE!
This heater vibrates across the floor until it meets up with something, hopefully NOT flammable! I have called Black & Decker about this problem, hoping to avoid someone getting hurt by it; but all they told me was, to write them a letter about my problem. I see that they are STILL selling this dangerous item. There is NO warning about it vibrating across hard surface floors. I have been unable to keep it from vibrating across the floor via anti-skid pads.
Before I knew of the danger, I went to sleep with it on in our bedroom. When my husband went to bed, luckily he turned on the light, because it was up against the bedding and still blowing very hot air.

Noisy and Hot
With all the noise this unit makes you'd think it had a powerful fan, but it does not, and as a result the casing gets very hot even on low heat setting. I've nearly burned myself. I'm scared of this thing on high heat setting.

Terrific Safety Features
This heater is wonderful. You have the option of dialing the heat level desired and whether high or low heat, or you can have fan only, when the temparture is reached, it goes on stand-by mode. The unit also pumps out heat well. The safety feature that I love is the tilt feature, as soon as it doesn't lay flat on the floor (whether you lift it, or it gets knocked over), it automatically turns off! There's also temperature safeties should the cord get too hot or should the unit itself get too hot (haven't run into this yet, but it's one of the features). Bad thermostat
I've had two of these heaters and they both do the same thing -- the thermostat seems to be based simply on "time", not room temperature. For instance, if you turn it to a hotter setting, you're not adjusting a thermostat to a higher temperature that the heater will then maintain; instead, it just runs more often.
Consequently, your room temperature is never consistent, even though you leave the unit at the same setting. If your central heating is running more often, the room gets too hot because the unit doesn't seem to sense temperature, just "run more" or "run less".
Look for something else.

Wonderful heater, excellent for three season room!
We got this heater today and we are thrilled with its performance. It was pretty cold this evening and we were having a birthday party. We wanted to do presents in our 14'x14' three season room, but it was very chilly. Within minutes of plugging in our new heater, the entire room was comfortable. It has three settings for small, medium and large size rooms. It rotates so the heat isn't focused on one area, and the outside base stays cool. The safety features are wonderful since we have two dogs and two children. It can't burn them, or start a fire due to the automatic shut off features. I think this is an excellent value for the price. It is very light weight and will sit easily on our plant stand or stereo cabinet. I highly recommend this to anyone needing a little extra heat. ... Great Sealer for freezing and storage
I actually own the VS200 maybe this is a later model. ... Like the other reviewer has commented this sealer really works. I am having no problems with it. It seals great. Besides if it didn't seal just right, check and do it again. It's easy and very effective. Get yourself a sealer and start saving money and hassles. You really can't freeze much without one because the best of ziplocs always seem to let in freezer burns. My only tip would be that when sealing something really juicy, freeze until juice is solid. If you do this you will find that you get a much better vacuum and more air removed more quickly from the bag. But the little trap inside is very easy to clean out drips. Also, stop the sealer quickly if juice is going inside before it has a chance to get inside the vacuum pump. Also has separate hose available and canisters like the pricier Tilia. I haven't tried Tilia but since I'm happy with this why should I spend more?

Good for the money
For the money it works well. You do have to make sure that you smooth out the bag and position the end into the channel for vacuuming. If you do this it does have sufficient power to make a good vacuum seal. For anything with high moister content freeze first even if for just a couple of hours. The vacuum will suck the juices from meat and other items and if this gets into the sealing area you will lose your seal. Also hold firmly. If used correctly this is a good unit for the money.

I seen these on sale and said what the hey i'll try one.Well they work great only if your use the proper bags with them. Some stupid people try to vacuum and seal there own bag well they don't work they seal but not vacuum on chip bags and others.This is a great product to have happy vacuuming.

It DOES work!
I bought the BS200 and my initial reaction was sceptical but after taking a look at the suction pump I quickly realised why several people had found problems.
If you follow the instructions properly the air removal is fine. It is not industrial quality but for the price you can't expect that. The sealing is good as long as you use it properly...

Vacuuming tip:
Put the object in the middle of the bag and then slip the bag in the machine. Smooth the bag over the sealer propely with on creases.
Start vacuuming and then push the object in the bag up towards the vacuum head getting it as close to the machine as you can.
Smooth any pockets of air towards the vacuum head. You have to do this manually as the vaccum pump is not strong enough otherwise. When you are satisfied with the air removal seal the bag. Presto. If you can't do this you are dumb! It's easy.

Another good tip is to wet the food (where appropriate) before vacuuming as this makes the bag/item contact much better. If it's meat or so on there's no problem but other things like vegetables work better moist. This also protects them when freezing.

Does not reach temperature - Result is soggy food
I purchased the Black & Decker DF250 because I was looking for a fryer with a larger capacity than what I already had (an older T-FAL Fryer.) I will say I like the size of the Black & Decker & I love that it has a removable pot; however I purchased the fryer to fry food.

This fryer simply does not get hot enough to properly fry food. With the heat set to the max at 375 I waited for the light to indicate the oil had reached the proper frying temperature and I used a candy thermometer to find that my oil had only reached a temperature of 345 degrees, which did not increase after waiting an additional 5 minutes. When I dropped my Fries in the oil the temperature drops to a point where it does not even sizzle. The result is a soggy fry that taste like oil. Even when using a small amount of fries (which defeats the purpose of the larger basket) I end up with a soggy fry that taste horrible. I tried using this fryer on four separate occasions and received the same result every time.

Unfortunately, I threw away the box & did not keep the receipt or this thing would have gone back to the store. I have pulled the T-FAL fryer back out & put the Black & Decker in a storage room where it will sit until one day I decide to clean my storage room & I throw it away. I am hoping that is does not hurt as bad if I throw it away in a couple years as I think it will hurt to bad to throw it away after just a couple of months. Do yourself a favor and pass on this fryer.

I absolutely recommend the T-FAL fryer. Although the one I have does not have a removable pot, which makes it hard to clean, it reaches temperature quickly and produces nice crisp French fries that taste great every time.

Not Hot
I purchased this based on other review. I must say that after cooking my french fries for over 20 minutes, they were not even golden brown. The temperature is turned up at the highest and the french fries taste like mushed oil. Nasty! I have tried cooking fries several times (in smaller batches too), with the same results each time. I give two stars because being able to see the cooking is nice, as well as the way it is put together. The power cord comes off too easily also.

Best fryer for the price!
This is the first fryer I have ever owned, and was hesitant to spend a lot due to the fact I wasn't sure that I'd use it very often. So I did a lot of researching, checking all the reviews and looking at store display models. I found that others for the same price usually got shakey reviews, and didn't have the features this one has. And when I looked at them in the stores, most of them seemed cheaply made.

I am so glad I went with this deep fryer. It heats up quickly, the temperature stays consistant, it's solidly made, and clean up is a snap. The timer has proven to also be useful - which, by the way, is a 30 minute timer, not a 15 minute timer as the description reads. The lid comes off adding to the ease of cleaning. And I believe the bowl coming all the way out is VERY important! It's so much easier to empty your oil, and clean thorougly. Also, the fact that it is cool touch really is nice. Many of the new stainless ones are not cool touch. That's fine for a waffle iron, but a deep fryer is large, and too easy to nudge while working in the kitchen. I just feel safer with this one.

The only thing I would change would be for a digital timer, but for this price I'm not complaining!

A Very Capable Deep Fryer
My wife and I have been very impressed with this deep fryer. It heats right up and cooks the food to a crispy touch with no oily taste. It also filter the air and has a view window to see food cooking. Highly recommended....

Works great, But....
I had this unit for about a year. When it worked, it worked great! But,the internals rusted which caused a wire to break. This resulted in me getting shocked(big time) and knocked to the floor. They use a tin mounting plate for the wires-go figure. We were very carefull about cleaning this, too(as it says not to submerse the base). So, we were extremely pleased with it until it tried to kill me. We will try a different steamer next time. BEWARE THE SHOCK HAZARD!

The only thing I use.
This steamer is literally the most used small appliance in my kitchen. My favorite steamer recipe: steamed red potatoes and carrots tossed with 2T parsley, 1/2t rosemary, and 1/2t thyme sauteed in 2T butter. I use it for asparagus, broccoli, spinach, cauliflower, and all sorts of stuff. When I'm cooking vegetables, I just don't enjoy results as consistent as the steamer when I'm using the microwave or the stovetop.

Although I can do as good a job with rice by other means, I still prefer using the steamer. It frees up the microwave to reheat something, and the cleanup is a breeze since there is only one bowl that really gets dirty. However, the timer on my steamer does run a tad slow. A great mixer!
I own this mixer and LOVE it. I use it for making very stiff biscotti dough, a task that is beyond all the other more expensive mixers I have now put away in my cupboard! I rarely use my expensive stand mixer anymore, since this works just as well, and requires a lot less cleaning. There are just two drawbacks. It's top-heavy, so be careful when you put it down, since it tips over easily. I have knocked it over numerous times, and it still works fine. The beaters are not very sturdy, so if you plan to use it a lot buy a few extra. I wish I bought this one before I wasted my money on those more expensive hand mixers. No, I don't work for Black & Decker. I just love their mixer.

The mixer is designed to be ergonomic, but I found that it was so heavy that my hand and wrist got sore after only a few minutes. Also, the 5 speeds are fast, faster, really fast, speed of light, and warp speed. In fact, I didn't even test the highest speed because I thought the mixer would take off! The lack of a low or medium speed presented a problem when mixing dry ingredients into wet.

I wouldn't buy this mixer again or recommend it to anyone.

Excellent electric knife
100% of our bread at home is homemade and heavy texture. We've worn out a lot of electric knives. Most wear at the joint at the front of the blades or the blades start to separate in the middle so that they shave up a thin piece of meat between the blades.
We got our first B&D ERGO based on a test report in a cooking magazine. So far it has held up very well and is the best electric knife we've had. It didn't like being dropped on a concrete/ceramic tile floor but continued to work while wrapped in tape. I think that this is the first time we've tried to get a specific model as a replacement.
