Coated inside and out with rugged nonstick, Circulon 2 cookwareeliminates the chore of scrubbing pots and pans. Inside their bottoms,Circulon's patented Hi-Low system of concentric grooves creates narrowridges to take utensil abuse, leaving low, wide grooves unscathed toreadily release food and ensuring long life for the nonstick coating.Beneath the nonstick is harder-than-steel anodized aluminum. Amazon.com Review

The company that invented hard-anodized nonstick cookware, Circulon continues its pursuit of innovation with this 3-quart chef's pan, which features a locking colander lid for quick, simple straining. When you're finished boiling pasta or potatoes, simply flip the pan over and drain the water through the lid's straining holes. As an alternative, the pan is ideal for soups and small stews, stir-fries, and even a variety of one-pot meals.

Circulon 2 cookware features hard-anodized aluminum construction for efficient heat distribution, and is coated with Circulon's Total Hi-Low food release system--an advanced nonstick coating specifically designed to last longer and release foods easier than other nonsticks. In addition, the pan features Circulon's patented Hi-Low series of concentric grooves that resist utensil abrasion, adding to the durability of the nonstick surface. The stainless-steel colander lid is polished to a mirror finish and includes a stay-cool phenolic handle on the top. As an added bonus, both the top and side handle feature slip-resistant synthetic grips for more secure handling. Like all Circulon 2 cookware, the pan is oven-safe to 350 degrees F and includes a limited lifetime warranty against defects. Hand washing is recommended. --Rivers Janssen ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Circulon products are endorsed by Chef Martin Yan, of the PBS cooking series Yan Can Cook, who claims he's used the same pieces every day for the past eight years with excellent results. While this recommendation may or may not impress, a close examination of the Circulon cookware line should.

The 12-inch electric fry pan, for example, looks like a large round griddle, only it's deeper than most (nearly 3 inches) and set on a very sturdy footed base. Its two handles are covered with phenolic plastic, which really does keep them cool to the touch. An 8-inch rod helps stabilize the pan for flipping pancakes or turning fryer legs, and a chubby half circle on the opposite side is useful for carrying the complete ensemble, laden with braised pork chops or Spanish rice, directly to the table.

But a cook can do much more than fry in this pan: try roasting, boiling, poaching, slow cooking, braising, stewing, and even baking at low temperatures. Its versatility is derived in part from its depth and high stainless-steel lid, which increase its capacity, and its superb heat control, which heats the pan instantly (no gradual warming) and steadily maintains the selected temperature.

Circulon touts its "Hi-Low" system (a series of concentric grooves etched into the nonstick interior) for good reason--while the raised circles are open to the abuse of frequent use, the spiraled surface between remains protected, which is why the pan is guaranteed to stay stick-resistant for at least 10 years. Out of the box, its nonstick properties are superb. It passed my falafel test: mounds of falafel mixture flipped as a unit without crumbling.

The appliance is fully immersible and should be washed and dried shortly after use. Take extra care of the lid, which is prone to speckling. The pan comes with a comprehensive use and care booklet, along with over 20 recipes for appetizers, side dishes, entrees, and desserts--from lamb curry to pineapple upside-down cake. --Carol Gnojewski ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Many design flaws and an electrical FIRE made me unhappy!
.
This skillet is heavy and looks well-made, but it has many faults. After 2 years of use, I'm glad the stupid thing burned up because now I can throw it away!

1. The large handle is inconvenient and unnecessary. It gets in the way when cooking, and especially when you're trying to wash the skillet in the kitchen sink. I've been tempted to wash the skillet in the bathtub because it simply won't fit in my kitchen sink because of the stupid long handle. The handle isn't even practical, because the pan is too heavy to pick up by the long handle alone, even when the pan is empty. They should have put one small handle on each side rather than only one small handle and the one ridiculously large and cumbersome handle they used.

2. The legs get loose and won't stay in place. I tigntened the legs with a screwdriver every time I used this pan. It's enough to drive you crazy. They spin around and make the pan wobbly, which isn't very safe when you're cooking hot foods. DUH! Really bad design on the legs.

2. The knob on the lid is designed so that if you tighten it even the littlest bit too much, it POPS and falls off. The knob can't be replaced due to the way the lid is designed, so you have to buy a whole new lid. What a bad design idea! DUH again!

4. After approximately 2 years of use, I'm not happy with the way the non-stick cooking surface is wearing. It seems to be wearing off even though I clean it gently by hand and only use non-metal utensils.

5. The worst thing of all is what happened last night when I was cooking dinner in this pan. I was browning ground beef, which only takes about 5 minutes or so. Halfway through the cooking, I noticed a strong smell of burning plastic. I didn't see anything melting, but when I unplugged the thermostatic electric cord, it had a very strong smell of burning plastic and burnt wiring. I've spent the entire day on the internet searching for Circulon to see if I can order another cord, but I can't find a website for them, nor can I find any listing in the Yellow Pages here in Chicago, so I guess I'm stuck with a very expensive broken Circulon electric skillet.

I would NOT recommend this skillet due to the many reasons listed above.

I think I'm actually a bit relieved that the thing burned up and that I can't buy a replacement cord for it, because now I can justify throwing the stupid thing away and getting a more practical one that doesn't have spinning legs and a ridiculously long handle that gets in the way!

4-0 out of 5 stars A Shallow Beauty
I had a Presto 'dutch oven' for the past two years;it is essentially their electric skillet with higher sides. I loved this skillet and used it several times a week for everything from frying chicken to making spaghetti sauce to cooking pot roasts and briskets. I'd still be using it, and happy with it, except that the nonstack finish started coming off after a few months. I kept using it until I couldn't tolerate little black flecks in the food. There's no doubt that a nonstick finish can be a godsend for sticky things, but half a nonstick finish is much worse than none! They always say these finishes are nontoxic, but who can be sure?

I went to the store to buy a Farberware, only to learn that they'd been discontinued. I came across the Circulon skillet at a factory outlet kitchen store and decided to give it a try. I have a large flat round griddle/skillet in Circulon that I've had for years, and also the large and small woks.

I've been using this appliance for roughly six months for essentially the same things I used to do in my Presto. However, since the sides are much lower, I can't really do the soups I did in the Presto. For me, the greatest drawback right now is its inability to neatly fry chicken--sides are too low for the grease level without making a mess! And, no, I'm not talking about deep-frying, but instead Southern pan fry style with roughly an inch. However, it does great steaks, croquettes, etc. I haven't seen any wear on the finish so far, and always use the appropriate utensils. It's certainly the prettiest of the available choices.

With the excellent luck I've had with Circulon pans and woks, I'm looking forward to a long history with this pan.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Cut Above the Rest
The Circulon Saute Pan cooks evenly, heats quickly, and the ridged bottom doesn't crack, warp or shed its protective layer. One wipe of the sink sponge gets out material cooked into the ridged bottom. We love it as a primary cooking appliance. One minor beef: some of the legs haven't stayed tight and as a consequence keep rotating out of position; even retightening the screws doesn't solve this. But other than that, this is a slam dunk purchase for your skillet needs. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars How did I live without it?
This is one of my favorite pans. I love Circulon Classic and I own several of their products. I needed a larger saucepan so I looked at Circulon's offerings. When I spotted this pan, I knew it would be a winner. With its size and shape, it can function as a large saucepan AND a small stir-fry pan. The capacity of this pan will surprise you. The curved sides make stirring easy and thorough. The helper handle is also a great feature when you have to lift a full pot or pour food from it into a serving bowl. The handles on these pans are oven safe up to 350-degrees F.

It has one of Circulon's beautiful, high-dome stainless steel lids that fits so snugly that it holds in all the moisture just beautifully. The hard-anodized aluminum exterior distributes heat evenly and you can use a lower setting than you normally do. The non-stick interior prevents burning or sticking and it's a breeze to clean. Don't worry about those grooves. Although you can't put the pans in the dishwasher, they are so easy to clean that I don't mind handwashing them. It's an act of love for my precious Circulon. When I wash my Circulon pans, first I scrub the interior with a nylon scrubbing sponge, then I use a rounded dish scrubbing brush to gently clean out those grooves with a circular motion. You can use tougher scrubbing pads on the hard-anodized exterior. I've never had a sticking problem no matter what I cook in circulon.

So what's not to love? Get one! You'll love it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Let me tell you about my favorite pan . . .
I reach for this Chef's pan constantly--it is deep enough to handle stews, casseroles, and similar big jobs. It's also handy that it can go into the oven up to 350. The handles stay cool on the stove top, and I love the convenience of the "helper handle" feature. It is a breeze to keep clean. I was initially a bit worried about the grooves, thinking that it might be tricky to keep the pan surface clean, but I have never once been disappointed with its performance. This is definately a well-constructed pan that will hold a prominent spot on my stove for years to come. ... Read more

Circulon is a cookware brand that is renowned for its long-lasting nonstick surface. Narrow rows of concentric circles on the interior of the pan create a subtle "high-low" effect that protects much of the pan's surface from exposure to wear, while at the same time conducting heat quickly and evenly. This a great pan for browning meats--and it's an energy saver as well, since with anodized aluminum you never need to use heat settings higher than medium. The stainless-steel lid fits snugly, and like the pan itself, has a stay-cool handle that's oven-safe to 350 degrees F. Don't put this in the dishwasher--aluminum discolors easily, so hand wash with a liquid detergent. --Jill Lightner ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Pan
I decided to try this pan because I had heard great things about Circulon and the price was a great bargain. I am happy to say that I was not disappointed. The pan cooks like a dream, and the clean-up is very easy. My only regret is that I did not purchase a few extra ones to share as gifts.

5-0 out of 5 stars the best pan so far
Before I bought this, I never heard of Circulon. I just followed an internet deal and bought it. Wow! After I used it for a week, I threw away all my old aluminium pans. This is by far the best nonstick pan I have. The pan is very solid and heavy. I will definitely consider buying other circulon products (when they are onsale of course). Buy it. You won't regret.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love the Circulon
I bought this pan along with another Circulon pan last year. It has held up so well, it still looks brand new. Clean up is a breeze, nothing sticks to this pan! Loved it so much I bought it for my parents, who also love it. Amazon has such great prices on Circulon, as my other cookwear wears out I'm replacing with Circulon!
You won't be disapointed with this pan!

5-0 out of 5 stars What's for dinner?
A couple of months ago I needed a pan of this size/type. When I began shopping for one I was overwhelmed with the number of different products available. So, I decided to use Amazon's "Product Reviews" to help in my search (a great resource, I think) and, based on what I read, I decided to give this pan a try. I am DELIGHTED with my choice. I wanted something (A) easy to clean (2) nonstick (3) reasonably priced -- I got all that and more. I have added a couple of more Circulon pieces to my kitchen recently and I will certainly add more.
