5-0 out of 5 stars extravagant but really good
the quality of this set is very good. they are useful when you eat crabs.at first i thought maybe it was hard to clean them, but i was wrong. they are easy to use and easy to clean.sometimes i also use the clip to crash the nuts. it works great.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice seafood set.
This is a very nice seafood set. The OXO brand is always something you can rely on. The only complaint I have about this set is that the cracker is a little bit on the heavy and clunky side.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Shellfish Tools!!
These are pretty handy tools for getting every last bit of crab out of tight places. The cushy handles are comfortable and easy to use. Each side has a different sized scooper to use with a variety of differently sized shellfish. Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Get crackin! Get this set!
When I was putting my bridal registry together, I had asked for this seafood set. I am an OXO fanatic. I just love their products. That said, I was still overwhelmed by how much I would come to love this seafood set! It works better than I even imagined! You can get out every last piece of crabmeat, even in the skinniest of crab legs! It must be the pointed edge and hollowed design, that really allows you to delve down deep, grab on, and come back up with the prized seafood in tow. The cracker is also so well designed, that it can crack through the hardest of shells with ease while the handle stays comfortable in your hand. This product is OXO doing what it does best. I highly recommend this set. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Crab legs and walnuts don’t stand a chance when this solid zinc cracker puts on the squeeze. While a nice weighty feel and sleek, polished design make this cracker a pleasure to use, the best feature is the soft rubber grip on each side that absorbs pressure during squeezing. The nutcracker measures 6-1/4 inches long and isdishwasher-safe. --Ann Bieri ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars good for small nuts
The wide handles make it easy to crack small nuts without hurting your hands. It does not work very well for large nuts since you tend to increase the pressure and when the shell cracks you mash it to a pulp.

For large nuts I suggest the Zyliss model. Having both of these you will be more than a match for any nut. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars sure beats using your fingernails!
If you're preparing shrimp and hate deveining them, this is the tool to get. Not really "veins," the dark line on the outside of a shrimp is actually its digestive tract - so if you eat it, you're basically eating shrimp excrement. Put that in your cocktail sauce! Still, this is a delicate little cord that you don't want breaking up into pieces, but just yank out quickly and get on to the next shrimp. This tool does just that, and ergonomically fits your hand.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Product!
I bought 2 of these for a party my friend and I were going to throw. We peeled and deveined 12lbs of shrimp in less time that I thought it would. This gadget takes some getting used too, I mangled the first 3-4 shrimps I tried, but it was smooth sailing after that.

I would definitely recommend this product!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fast and Easy!
Worked much better than plastic ones I have had previously. I also bet this cleaner won't break as the others did. The "teeth" really help to grip the shell making it easier to cut through it. Goes in dishwasher.

4-0 out of 5 stars No other tool quite like it...
I think this is helpful when you master using it...which can take a bit of time if your used to using a knife. Having always used just a paring knife to cut and de-vein getting the hang of this was a bit of a struggle. I thought, being a bit of a foodie, I "needed" this.. Need, is a strong word...but I do like this now...The pre-cleaned and easy peel shrimp is much more espensive than just the shrimp in the shells...this does make it a bit easier.

Once I *got* it, I think I am faster than I was. So since it doesn't take up much space and isn't expensive I think this was a good purchase.

That said... its a bit like a grapefruit spoon or melon baller in that it can be very nice to have and extreamly convenient to have under the right circumstances...but as to really needing it.. That is a hard call.

3-0 out of 5 stars It's okay...
I really really wanted to like this more than I do. I read all of the reviews that said how easy it was to use, then when I got it there was one comical looking cheesy picture showing how to use it. I am not a cooking novice, but I felt like a real retard trying to use this. Several mangled shrimp later, I finally got the idea, but still continued to mangle the occasional shrimp. And the thing is, I think it took me more time to mangle the shrimp with this thing than to peel shrimp manually. I gave it three stars because if you have a lot of tenacity, and you want to devein and that is really important to you, this will devein the shrimp nicely, if you don't mess up. I just find that this complicates things too much for me about two thirds of the time. Take this as you will. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars I think this knife is GREAT, but 3 stars just in case.
I've used this knife for a couple of years now with GREAT success. I use it on little old Willapas and big ol' Pacifics. I probably only buy a few dozen oysters a year so this is not by any means a professional's point of view but I have yet to bend the blade which is a whole heckuva lot more than I can say about the other two knifes I used before buying this one. Here's why I think you will be happy with this knife: 1) Large, soft, comfortable handle fills the palm and gives Excellent leverage; 2) Short, stout stainless steel blade is non-threatening (nicely rounded end) and stays clean. I will give this knife only three stars because it is possible that the complaints below are valid because often objects that are 'Made In China' have quality deficiencies. Also, I have seen some OXO brand oyster shuckers in the supermarket recently that are made with a very thing, spring-like blade which is a definite No No and may explain why the reviews below are so negative. Only one specification should be used for such a product. The variance tells me that OXO needs to get its act together. I gotta say, though, my knife is a truly excellent tool that I'm sorry I didn't own sooner.

1-0 out of 5 stars This is not an oyster knife.
It is preposterous that they would even call this thing an oyster knife. This piece of garbage was literally destroyed after opening one raw oyster. I could see that was going to happen before I even tried it. It's just a flimsy thin piece of sheet metal. Anyone who has shucked raw oysters knows how much torque it takes and how rigid the blade needs to be. Apparently these guys don't know anything about that. Shame on "OXO/Good Grips" for calling this thing an oyster knife.

1-0 out of 5 stars wimpy wimpy wimpy
the first time this oyster knife was used it bent itself silly within 6 oysters, and it was in the hands of a 4 star chef who knew what they were doing.
dont waste your time and money...

3-0 out of 5 stars Good design, but poor quality
This knife has a good grip and a good shape, but the quality of steel is very poor. After 5 dozen oysters, the tip of the knife is bent and it is very difficult to work with it now. This is not what good steel is supposed to be!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best of Three
I own a total of three oyster knives and this one is by far the best. The tapering at the tip of this knife is the feature I like the best. Also, unlike some broad bladed knives, the narrow blade is easier to insert into the smaller, and yearling, oysters. The handle is not too thin and even allows a decent grip for my wife's smaller hands. The guard could be slightly larger but it's been good enough to save me during the occasional slip. ... In one easy motion, the sharp, durable stainless-steel blade of this clam knife separates the meat from the shell. 5-0 out of 5 stars Great for seafood
A friend of ours had a pair of these seafood crackers. Its design is perfect to getting to that delectable meat in lobster claws. My husband and I had looked for them in local stores but to no avail. We've bought a countless number of other crackers that do not remotely compare to the ease and durability of these.

I finally received my very own pair from my sister for my birthday.

Here are a few details.

The non-slippery handles are ideal when your hands get all greasy from melted butter.

The width of the teeth allow a nice break in the lobster shell without having to resort to physical manhandling.

The heaviness of the cracker helps the jaws close when you get an oversized piece.

The hinge allows for natural opening and closing of the breaker as compared to the built-in spring of other crackers.

Last, but not least, these crackers can withstand being put in the dishwasher without rusting or cracking.

They are a great buy for any seafood lover!

2-0 out of 5 stars Holes too big!
The product is very "gripable" and would earn 5 stars if the width of the 'pliers' were not that darn big. As they are, it's unlikely you'll be able to use that for more than 2 out of every 3 filberts... ... Read more
