Super sewing machine...
This machine does everything i tried very well. It is a nice design with easy to use features, comes with a lot of extra feet and for a beginner like me it is great. I didn't want a basic machine, even if i did not know much about sewing. However, the brochure that comes with it is not very helpful sometimes. For example it doesn't say how to use the twin needle; i got some help from a friend, and she was impressed with the machine too. I recomand it with al my heart.

It's a KEEPER !
I bought this machine a few weeks ago and while waiting for it to arrive read several poor reviews of similar Euro-Pro machines. I expected the worst. I was ready to throw it back before it arrived. When it did arrive it was small, lightweight and the instruction book looked barely adequate. I decided to send it back. I gathered up all the packing materials and because I live in a new place and don't know where things like UPS drop offs are located I waited a couple of days to ship it. And then one night, I got curious, I threaded her up and got her sewing. While it's not the solid machine I grew up with, it's not bad. It's growing on me. It seems to be a good basic machine. Not a lot of fancy stitches, but then how many times did I actually use any of those fancy things that seemed so appealing to my Mom when she selected her machine? I've decided this little machine is a worthwhile investment. It's portable and it works. It does what it says it will do. I'm keeping it!!! Take all those negative words with a grain of salt when you read them, folks are always quicker to complain than to offer praise. This one is a keeper :)

A welcome replacement
The bobbin-winder mechanism on our 22-year old Singer sewing machine broke so the Singer is now headed to the trash dump and we have a new Euro-Pro 420 as replacement. I just used the EuroPro on 6 layers of denim, a task I would not give to the 22-year old Singer. The Euro-Pro is more portable since it is lighter and has a built-in carrying handle. Both machines are capable of several stitch functions and sews straight, zigzag, buttons, mends, darns. This EuroPro 420 and the old Singer did not have a feature for automatic threading. This EuroPro420 does not have settings for stretch-fabric, a setting which the old Singer had. (The last time I used the stretch-fabric option was ten-some years ago, so I don't miss it.)

The EuroPro420 also has the twin-needle feature which the old Singer does not support ( I doubt I'll be using this feature.) The old Singer did not have the free-arm option. This Europro420 converts to a free arm; a very welcome feature for the ease in sewing tight areas such as sleeves or pant-legs. The piece that is removed to create the free arm has a convenient storage area for all the included attachments (bobbins, seam ripper, extra feet/attachments for buttonholes, quilting, hemming, etc. ).

My first try at this EuroPro420 resulted in terrycloth/"bird's nest" on the underside. A quick review of the manual (bilingual -- English/Spanish) pointed to an error in installing the bobbin. So to be noted : reading the manual (and keeping it handy for referencing) is always useful.

All in all, this EuroPro 420 is a big improvement on the old sewing machine that it replaced. ... Read more

Despite Cruel Commentary - It's a good little machine
Prior to the purchase of this machine I had only performed "hand-sewing." I am a crocheter/knitter and I generally add linings and other things to my pieces that require fabric. I had purchased a "handy-stitch" to help with my ventures - but it was very hard to control. I found the "dressmaker" on sale and picked it up about a week ago and I have been completely pleased. Everything was packaged neatly and despite other reviews to the contrary - the thread is actually not all that bad. Plus, you get every color under the sun. I mean, lets get real... you're paying about thirty bucks for a sewing machine and your complaining that it doesn't stitch like an $800 machine? Come on, people. You get what you pay for. But, in respect to the product at hand... I think, perhaps, you get a bit more than you pay for. It is a sleak machine - compact - easy to use - and this is the opinion of an amature sewer. I have not regreted my purchase for a second. I thank the manufacturers of this product, in my opinion, they have done a fine job. If you're looking for an inexpensive sewing machine to learn on or use intermitently - by the Euro-pro Dressmaker. It's a winner!

Junk- Hard to use, never worked
I bought mine about 6 months ago and I still can't get it to work. I could never get the bottom bobin to thread. My gf who is a seamstress couldn't get it to work either, so I know I'm not just being a dope. The instructions are vague and unhelpfull and I'm pretty sure several pieces that are needed for it to work were missing.<br /> <br /> They say you get what you paid for, but considering this never worked at all, I say your not this time.

Short and Sweet
I am not a pro, nor an amateur, but I found this little machine very, very helpful and worth the money for small odd jobs. I have already put a hem on a quilt that I have been wanting to finish for five years (but was too lazy to sew it by hand) and it did a great job! It stiched through three layers of fabric with no problem. My next project is curtains and, so far, I am very pleased with my purchase. I do not have the room to store a larger machine and I do not have the ambition to sew anything requiring anything more than what this great little machine offers. The only thing that I do not like about it is that it slides sometimes, since it is so small and lightweight, that you have to hold it with one hand and guide the fabric with the other. I am sure there is a way to remedy the problem, I just haven't figured it out yet. It was worth the thirty dollars and I would buy another one, if I had to, in a heartbeat. It is not fancy, you get what you pay for, but if you just want a little machine to hem things up, make pillow cases, curtains and other odds and end jobs, this machine is for you.

No way
Dressmaker, huh? Don't even try to make a dress with this thing. I sewed a whoppin' 6 inches with it, 5 of which had to be ripped out. The needle gets stuck and a wad of thread under the bobbin cover must be cut free to get the it out and start the process over. The underside of the fabric will also have a ton of excess thread, hence why I ended up with 1 inch of halfway decent stitches out of 6. I don't wish this frustration on anyone. I'm not even going to donate this to a thrift store, I'm throwing it out. ... Read more

Suits my purpose
I don't know what these people expected this tiny machine to do, keyword it's T-I-N-Y. Although, I had no problem with it what so ever. I just purchased it and have made completed 6 projects on it so far. My big machine died and I needed a replacement quickly. Of the projects I have made, all of different materials, not one problem arose. I have been sewing for a long time and would recommend this machine to anyone who wanted to start sewing. Of course it won't be useful for bigger projects, it's a mini machine. Taken for what it's worth I think this is a great product.

This machine is an overpriced toy
Years ago I bought a Singer Chain Stitch Machine and it functioned a little better than this machine. .

The tension is just a screw, without any way to set it properly so that you can repeat the same tension you used earlier. (Something that is very important because balancing the stitches on this machine is nearly impossible.) The motor is so starved for power that the light actually dims considerably when the motor is running.

The feed dogs do not actually function, so all those pretty stitches on the knob don't come out properly, because you have to pull the fabric through.

The needle is hard to thread, due to positioning of guards around it.

Basically, everything that everyone else has said about this machine is absolutely true. Only a *very* inexperienced sewer would be happy with the results from this machine. I'm sure one can make a pillow with it.

If you want a EuroPro, go with one of the bigger models. (I have the Silk and Denim and I love it. I'm getting the 9025LCD today!) If you find this one somewhere, give it to a six year old. At least it sews a locking stitch and the drop in bobbin will be easier for a little on to work with. (Just make sure you don't leave him/her alone with it, because the needle is real, but then so was Singer's little toy chain stitch machine.)

This machine is comparable to Singer's current Tiny Tailor,.The current Tiny Tailor is also only good as a child's toy.

Junk!
This machine is plastic junk that makes lots of noise. The pressor foot doesn't line up with the feed dog and you have to push the material through. The light is not worth being there. The start and stop switch is to hard to do and then try to reverse. I used it once and I felt it was going to break! I sounded like it was going to die and this was brand new right out of the box. If my full size machine was making noise like that I would take it to a repair shop. This is not worth buying! Don't waste your money! Buy something like a Viking. Pay the extra money and get your moneys worth that will last a life time.
I bought it because I wanted to travel with a light weight machine that would sew anything and that is how it is advertised. It is a lie! I will still look for a light weight machine but I am going to try one out and see how it works and how it sounds before I buy it.

Love It!
I decided recently that I would like to start sewing simple things such as curtain hems and pillows. Not wanting to spend a lot of money I decided to buy a little sewing machine called a "Mighty Mender." It didn't work. So, I decided to spend a little extra money and buy this Euro Pro Tiny Sewing Machine. I absoultely love it! I was able to take it out of the box and sew a pillow in about 15 minutes! Never having sewn before in my life. I had read the previous reviews before ordering it and decided to anyway and I am glad that I did. It is simple to use and is sufficient for simple sewing jobs. I don't think anyone that has owned a much more expensive machine would want to use this one but, if you have never sewn before this is the perfect choice at a great price!

Easy to use - easy to thread
I know sergers are known for being hard to thread...but this one is easy. The threading guide is on the machine. Each hook is color coded. I tie my new thread onto the old to feed through the loops at the top of the machine, but hand feed the rest. It is important with any serger to go in the correct order (needle threads last) - and the color guide on the machine lists the order. The automatic lower looper works very well - but I find it works best if I open all of the doors and watch the thread hook onto the looper as I push the lever. I've had this serger two months and have changed thread color six times - the first thing I did was change the thread (to make sure I could.) I've been serging like crazy. I wonder how I lived this long with out one!

No support for Euro-Pro Serger Model 534DX
the problem starts with The manual for the Euro-Pro serger Model 534DX, from it, no one can understand how to thread the BOTTOM LOOPERS.

The manual was written by someone other than English speaking as obvious by the paragraph titled "How to use the Lower Looper Automatic Threader (For certain type only)".

The diagrams for the Automatic threader do not continue from the previous diagrams for the lower loopers.

Their manual offers 24 hour support, but the 800 telephone number (800-798-7398) goes straight to India, where a man tells you he can't answer your question, his English barely understandable.

He also gave me another 800 number(800-361-4639), that only gives you a busy tone.

Also part of their telephone support machine tells you go visit their Web site, but is so incoherent that I had to search the Internet to get the correct spelling.

then to add insult to injury, their Web site only deals with Vacuum Cleaners, not sergers. I wonder why??

I also called HSN, where I purchased the serger, and their Customer Service person could only help me by giving me a non 800 telephone number (517-842-8691), where "people who cant get through on the 800 number have better luck getting through".
Unfortunately, there is no such number.

So with 5 xmas gifts to sew and no answer for ONE LITTLE QUESTION, "HOW DO YOU THREAD THE BOTTOM LOOPERS CORRECTLY"?

I love mine!
I've had mine for over two years now and haven't had a single problem with it. I use it weekly at least. It replaced a Singer serger that worked briefly but wasn't good for anything except for taking back to the store several times in hopes of getting one that might work. My only complaint about it is that I wanted a five thread model like my last serger and the Euro Pro is only a four thread model. Otherwise it has been a flawless performer under heavy use. The differential feed has been great to have as well and it does a decent rolled hem too. (I make medieval costumes and also quilts.) Don't buy a machine without a differential feed! It also came with a bonus set of six extra feet, such as a beading foot, an elastic foot, and a blind hem foot too. It's gotten so that I use my serger more now for what used to be regular sewing than ever before.. hems go SO fast on it. I've never had a problem getting needles or blades for it, even with heavy use I haven't had to change the blades more than 3-4 times, if that.

who, what is euro-pro serger
I love the machine, but the only problem I have is when it was time for replacements blades, no has heard of the machine. Euro-pro do not give enough information on replacement parts or numbers in their instruction manuals. I love It!!
At first I had problems learing how to use the auto stop but once I played with it for a few hours, I was able to master the operation of the machine. As far as the stitch quality I love it, also it is comprable to the electronic machine I purchased 6 months ago. So there!... I love the beautiful decorative stitches, especially the one with the cross and the heart well all of them! The instruction manual it is very self explanatory and helpful on the use of the machine and presser feet. I love it and that's that, I have owned the machine and already have made a semiformal outfit for Easter and it lived up to my expectation and then some. Read before buying a Euro-Pro Sewing Machine
Machine is smaller and more lightweight than other machines I have owned. It does have a nice assortment of built-in stitches and 3 built-in buttonholes. Over all the machine appearance is nice and is easy to operate, also the instruction booklet is easy to follow. It does have features normally found on higher-end sewing machines; but it does lack the quality. The head and floor (power) pedal is constructed of thin plastic and feels weak like it could easily break. Although manufacturer claims the machine can sew through 7 layers of denim, I doubt it would last long due to lack of power. The stitch precision is also lacking, and it does not have the stitch calibration of higher-end sewing machines. The stitch quality is more in keeping with a toy sewing machine or "mini" sewing machine that are now available. I spent several hours testing the machine and comparing the stitch quality with another machines I own, and my decision was to return the machine for a refund. Overall quality is lacking and I was also concerned with the availability of parts and service. Anyone wanting a computerized machine and keep within the price range of this machine, I would suggest purchasing a good used Swiss or German made machine, the craftsmanship and technology far exceeds the Euro-Pro Brand. For a beginning sewer, I would suggest starting out with a basic machine and later getting a more advanced model.

I love this machine
I just ordered and received this machine less than a week ago (but I paid ... less.) It is my first machine and I am not an expert seamstress. So, when I received it, I read through the instruction booklet (which is easy to follow and includes diagrams.) In less than an hour, I was sewing practice stitches. So far, I have made 7 blankets and 5 cat toys with ease. It sews very smoothly and there are so many pretty stitches to choose from. I can't decide what I want to make next!

One machine does it all!
I received this machine 4 months ago. I have used it many times. It does anything I want it to do. All kinds of stitches. I decorate as I sew now! It runs smooth, and is easy to thread. I don't have any bad words against this machine. It is so easy I just pull it out and use it, even for small projects. It is convenient and quick. It is always fun because each time I use it I try a new stitch and learn new ways to use the machine. It is not so heavy that I cannot pick it up and move it myself. Just plug it in and go. It keeps up with me
I love my Denim and Silk machine. All metal gears mean I really can sew corsets. I often exceed the manufacturer's recommendations for layers of denim (which is fairly high to begin with) but my Denim and Silk machine has never caused me a moment's trouble.

EuroPro deserves to be remembered along side Viking Husqvarna for durability and those who say otherwise are probably selling Vikings.

Euro-Pro 6130 Deluxe Denim & Silk Machine
Got my sewing machine early for Christmas from my daughter. I have loved it ever since I got it out of the box and started using it. The manual is very clear with detailed instructions and step-by-step pictures. My favorite feature is the automatic needle threader. Had to look at the picture and the instructions for a few minutes to figure it out, but it works great every time. The machine feels very solid even though it is very light. I love the cover that slides down over it and the carrying handle on top of the machine. I haven't tried it yet, but the manual shows that you can even sew on buttons with the machine and a one-step buttonhole maker is a great feature.
