Amazon.com Review

About the size of a clothes iron, the Euro-Pro Shark handheld vacuum is great for small places, quick pick-ups, andhard-to-reach corners. A lightweight at 2.2 pounds, the 700-watt vacuum features a sturdy handle for easy maneuvering and a circular intake nozzle. It uses a 10-ounce dust cup to collect debris and a fitted fabric filter to catch smaller particles. In addition, the pleated HEPA filter traps 99.97 percent of dust, dander, and particulates to reduce the allergens in your home or workspace. Euro-Pro recommends cleaning the HEPA filter after every use and replacing it about every three months. The Shark’s dusting brush and crevice tool can attach directly to the intake mouth or to the end of the flexible hose, and the hose can be used by itself for tight corners. The vacuum comes with a shoulder strap for on-the-move use and a 16-foot-7-inch power cord. Euro-Pro includes a limited one-year warranty. --Emily Bedard ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Not a great buy.
This was given as a gift, and while it seems to have a lot of sucking power, the compartment is small and fills up quickly. I think I need another vacuum just to suck the filter clean.

It runs hot and loud.

I use it to clean dog hair off the couch, and the machine doesnt do the work, the brush and I do the work. I have to keep cleaning off the brush and putting it in the vacuum.

There's gotta be something better out there for small cleanups. I definately dont recommend whole room cleaning!

1-0 out of 5 stars Hot- in a bad way
Wish I had read some of the reviews before I bought this- They are right, what a piece of junk!!!! The unit does get quite hot after very little use and blows hot air all the while. The hose is awkward and there are no small attachments to allow you to get into small spaces. VERY LOUD too. Shoulder strap is useless since you have to get on your hands and knees to use the vac or the hose. Filter is a pain to clean every time (who needs the bother and mess) and the dirt cup holds very little. Don't waste your money.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money
This is an over-hyped piece of junk. It does not have much suction and does not hold but a thimbleful of debris.

1-0 out of 5 stars don't waste your time
honestly, i tried to find something good to say about this vacumn cleaner. alas, i could not find a big enough positive that would offset all the negatives.the predominant minus is the heat factor, this unit gets way too hot! as with any size motor, overheating will drastically reduce the motor life. the hepa filter may be a good thing, but the constant cleaning of it is time consuming and messy.it is cheaply made, definitely not built to last very long. i could say more, but i believe the overheating aspect should convince most folks not to waste their time or money on this unit.

1-0 out of 5 stars Very Disappointed
This product had adequate suction while it lasted which was about 4 months. One day it just stopped working, I can only assume that the motor died. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for hardwood floors
I have 2 dogs and a house with all hardwood floor with the exception of a couple of rugs. While my regular upright works fine on the carpet it is terrible on barefloors. I was using a shopvac to vacuum the hardwood floor...but who wants to lug a huge and noisy machine? I wanted something to do a good job on the floor but was small and not over $100. PROS: Lightweight; small head fits under beds and in tight corners; no bags to mess with (and I like that you can actually see what you have sucked up!); good suction; easy to store and has all the tools on board so you won't lose them; handle extends to various heights; easy to assemble and disassemble CONS: Doesn't replace a regular full size vacuum for doing carpet; collection cup for dust has to be emptied frequently; head seems a little bit flimsy...but will probably be okay I would recommend to anyone who needs a product to clean their hardwood floors!

4-0 out of 5 stars It is what it is...
From reading the other reviews, I gather I was lucky that I didn't see the infomercial before buying my EuroPro Shark Bagless Stick Broom. I didn't see this little guy picking up any safes or bowling balls, so my expectations didn't get all out of whack.

I bought this because we just moved into a house that has mostly bare floors and two flights of stairs. I knew going into my purchase that electric brooms aren't really made for carpets and handheld vacuum cleaners have less power than than big ol' uprights. But I knew I wanted the portability of both the electric broom and a handheld vac, and this fit the bill.

And I've gotta say that I'm pleased with how it does what I bought it to do. It does a fine job of cleaning my hardwood and tile floors and it gets the stairs done, too. The flight of stairs with a carpeted runner took a little work, but I'm willing to go over the same spot 2-3 times if it means I don't have to lug a massive machine up and down the steps. It also did a fine job on some of my small area rugs. But I agree that when it comes to carpets with any pile height at all, the Shark isn't the best choice.

So I don't think I'm going to give up my full size vacuum; it has its place--cleaning my two carpeted rooms, when my mother-in-law visits, etc. But for quick sweeping, I think my Shark will do just fine.

5-0 out of 5 stars Satisfied Customer
This is a great little vacuum. It has more suction power than my full sized upright. It has so much suction that I use the medium power selection to make it easier to push on carpet. This is my second euro-Pro product (shark steamer was first). I have been totally amazed by the quality and performance of these products.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Product, Minor Flaws
Wow - this is a great product, with some minor flaws that can be overlooked. This product is perfect for any type of hard surface, ie. hardwoods, vinyl, tile etc. This works some much better and faster than a broom and dust pan. We call it our "electric broom". The product has a lot of power - you can actually use it on a thin carpet and still get good suction, but it doesn't have any bristles like a tradtional vacuum, so it can't get deep into carpets. I think when you weigh the pros against the cons, you will decide to buy it. Here they are:

PROS:
- Very powerful suction, gets dust, hair and anything in its way
- Small, can be easily stored away
- Versatile, can be used like a vacuum or a handheld "dustbuster"
- Easily converts from the two different uses

CONS:
- The filter is a huge mess and is pretty hard to clean, although thats almost every bagless vacuum
- The air that blows out of the side is pretty powerful, so it tends to blow the dirt around before you vacuum it
- The product can get pretty hot (I hope that doesn't mean a bad motor - only time will tell)

As I said, I believe that the pros outweight the cons of this machine and it is very worthwhile to own. I think that you will be as pleased with the Shark as I am.

4-0 out of 5 stars Works better than expensive uprights
This vac had one problem in 3 years; the insulation where the cord attaches to the unit is cracking. A little electrical tape fixed it.
I can just imagine the low ratings being doled out by inept mongoloids grunting and smashing their vacuums into a mess in an attempt to clean the carpet.
Let me tell you, the Euro-pro stick vac picked up a ton of stuff left behind by my expensive Eureka upright. That one had expensive HEPA filters and shot dirt around the room. When I vacuumed hillbilly style, the dirt would sting my bare feet.
The shark has no whirling brush to shoot dirt or become entangled in hair. If you press it against the carpet and pass back and forth a couple times, you'll have carpets cleaner than new. It's best for small homes and apartments with hard floors and sucks up everything. I no longer have to stop every few minutes to clean the rollers or floor attachment. Don't use nozzle attachments to clean carpets, use the floor piece and put a little muscle into it. It's incredible for it's size!
It's obviously not for cleaning the whole house, it's much too small. But on area rugs, stairs and in cars, this thing is a dream.
It doesn't take a genius to empty the thing outdoors, where the dust won't get reintroduced into the house. Also, if you're a freak with a pituitary disorder, it will be painful to hunch over this thing. Get a full size euro pro instead.
You can avoid burning up the motor by a simple procedure I call "emptying the dust bin". I'm so smart; I empty it after every use! The tap clean filter traps the tiniest dust particles. Piles of skin cells and little hairs were extracted from what I thought was a clean mattress.
Impressive! Most impressive! Obey Wan taught this vacuum well. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

A solid basic vacuum with a slim design, the Shark Spectra upright features a wide cleaning path, onboard tools, and true HEPA filtration to help clean your home. A 12-amp machine, the Spectra Widepath is suitable for both carpet and bare floors, as well as upholstery. The 15-inch-wide floor nozzle has a motorized spinning brush roll and adjusts with a dial for four carpet heights. Dirt and debris collect in a bag, which is stored behind an easy-to-open, fully removable door. The door also houses the machine’s postmotor HEPA filter, designed to trap 99.97 percent of irritating dust and particulates. The filter is easy to access and to change every six months or so, depending on frequency of use. A premotor filter assists the HEPA and should be replaced quarterly.

For above-floor jobs, the vacuum comes with a flexible onboard hose and tools. Conversion to tool use is automatic and quick, though the hose takes a little getting used to. Storage for the attachments is clever and efficient, keeping the profile of the machine relatively sleek and allowing you to clean under areas as low as 9 inches high. Attachments include two nesting extension tubes, a crevice tool, and a dusting brush. The vacuum comes with a full-bag indicator, a twin-bulb headlight, a carrying handle, and quick-release cord hooks. At 15 pounds, it’s fairly lightweight and maneuvers well on its oversized wheels. Euro-Pro includes four bags, a replacement belt, and a one-year warranty. --Emily Bedard ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Something nice to say
After spending the time to search for an affordable vacuum, imagine my disappointment on reading all these negative reviews. To their contrary I found the UV204 to be a wonderful purchase: longer cord, longer attachment hose, more suction, and quieter than my old vacuum, though not quiet. The inexpensive paper bags and hepa filter must do their job because my eyes didn't itch and my throat wasn't scratchy after doing the whole house. Dog hair disappeared in one swipe & the bag was nearly full of stuff the old vacuum was leaving behind. No belt problem, no overheating, no front exhaust dispersing the dander ahead.

1-0 out of 5 stars UV204 - Don't buy
I purchased a Euro-Pro Shark Spectra (UV-204) about 1 year ago. In this time, I have had to change the belt that drives the agitator about 8 times. I do NOT vacuum excessively (once / 2 weeks at most); I also have hardwood floors!

The drive belt is always in very good condition when I replace it, except it appears to have been worn in 1 or 2 spots, causing it to break. It is almost as if the drive spindle melts the belt somehow.

I am EXTREMELY unsatisfied with this purchase. My idea of a good vacuum is NOT one where I have to replace a part every third use. Also, it is very difficult to take the cover off and replace the belts - the cord holder is in the way and hard to remove, and due to the "stylish" design, you have to bend the plastic cover around the bag area.

1-0 out of 5 stars Too much trouble to deal with it
I came to Amazon because i have 2 broken Shark vaccum's not the widepath but the thinner ones and they both have broken beater(roller) brushes on them. Against any BETTER judgement, my husband said he wanted another one, and bought the widepath. We took it home and it worked for vaccumming the whole house and then just stopped running. I changed plugs and moved in around the house and nothing happened. I took it back and what a surprise the store we bought it at only had the floor model left and didn't have plans on ordering anymore. Sounds to me like this may be discontined. On another swift note for Shark, i bought the hand held steam cleaner and when you let go of the handle the steam keeps coming out. NO MORE Shark products for this girl or my household. They sure do advertise well but need to hire more experienced people to assemble thier products!!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars consumer beware
I bought this vaccuum about 4 months ago. After 2 months the motor started to make a horrific noise, so i called the shark people. The 1800 # was constantly busy for days so i actually had to call them directly in canada and was on hold forever. Finally got thru and explained problem. lady was rude and told me was the belt which i knew it was not considering i had already inspecked the dang thing myself. She ended up hanging up on me because she did not want to hear my explanation. So she sent me belts hat arrived 1 month later. What do you know, it wasnt the belts.took it to vaccuum shop and told me was roller brush.so i called long distance again and they told me they would send me a roller brush which its been 3 weeks now. Dont even want roller brush anymore, got new vaccuum since shark didnt want to refund money. Just glad that i dont have to deal with that company anymore. As for my shark, i have junked it and will never buy one again. The darn thing didnt even work but for 2 months.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't like it
This vacuum isn't very good when it comes to vacuuming up hair. Because the vent is in the front of the vacuum all it does is blow the hair around which makes it impossible to vaccum up the hair. I would "never" recommend this vaccum to anyone. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful cleaning! Lousy on-off switch!
Had this 4 months. Never saw such great suction power and cleaning ability! I gladly overlooked how heavy it seemed, how heavy the cord was, and how loud it was (sometimes it whistles, even!) My only big disappointment was that the on-off switch started malfunctioning (not turning on without lots of jiggling, etc.) the 2nd time I used it! Now it takes a couple minutes of wangling the switch before it turns on. It's warranteed for 1 year, but Euro-Pro's website isn't up and running yet and I haven't been successful getting through to the customer service yet to see where to get it repaired. Too bad so many of these great machines have a defective switch! Who wants to bother packing up a vacuum for service, anyway??

2-0 out of 5 stars Burnt Belts Batman!
This has great suction but in my opinion is a cheaply made import. If the belts would not burn up so quickly, then I could give it a better review.(Mail order only) I have used a Hoover Wind Tunnel which was heavy but still runs,a Kirby that was a hand me down but gave it away for it was extremely too heavy for us, a Panasonic 10 amp which we like, plus an Oreck 2600XL upright. (Do not suck up any metal objects or water; no motor bypass!) The free canister is weak on suction also.
The Oreck is great for those with arthritis or back problems but be carefull when ordering. I was told if I bought the extra 1 year cleaning package with the vacuum;the warranty would be extended to 5 yrs. on the motor. Today I was told that was not true by the Oreck Co. They also recommend changing belts every couple months & changing the vac bag every month & changing the outer cloth bag every 2 years. Oh, My aching credit card Batman!

1-0 out of 5 stars Burns up to quickly
I bought this vacuum and liked it at first but then you go through belts like crazy as they burn up real quick. Everytime I use it it smells like something is burning. A hose on it broke and I can not find replacement parts for it. And you can only order the replacement bags online. Don't waste the money on this one.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money
I bought this product less than a year ago and it won't recognize a new bag. It is a piece of junk. Don't waste your money.

1-0 out of 5 stars You Get What You Pay For
After spending $200+ on my last vacuum, only to have it die after about 3 years, I decided to spend less on this Euro-Pro Shark. So what if I have to replace it earlier, I figured -- I'll still be ahead of the game, pricewise. I couldn't have been more wrong. Within the first week, the belt started burning and had to be replaced. Within 2 months, we've replaced the belt twice more. I'm now looking at replacing it after 3 months -- at this rate, I would have been better off buying another $200 plus vacuum that would last me 3 years. I learned my lesson -- you really do get what you pay for! ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Built for bagless convenience, efficient floor coverage, and long-reach accessory cleaning, the 12-amp Shark Spectra upright is suitable for carpet, floors, upholstery, and above-floor jobs. The wide floor nozzle, with its 15-inch cleaning path, features a motorized brush roll and automatic height adjustment, so you can move between different carpet types without stopping. Dirt and debris collect in a bagless dust cup, which is transparent for easy monitoring and comes with a full-cup indicator light. When the cup is full, simply release it from the machine for emptying. A pleated HEPA filter inside the cup traps irritants and allergens as small as 0.3 microns. The filter can be tapped clean regularly and should be replaced once a year with average use. A washable motor filter assists the HEPA system.

The Spectra is especially well-equipped for above-floor cleaning with its automatic-conversion extra-long hose and attachments. All attachments--except the bonus blower tool--store tidily on board. They include two long extension tubes, a full-length crevice tool, a dusting brush, and an upholstery attachment. Though somewhat bulkier than many other bagless models, the Spectra is nevertheless fairly lightweight and maneuverable. It comes with an extra-wide headlight, a carrying handle, and quick-release power cord hooks. Euro-Pro includes aone-year warranty. The machine has a 13-by-15-inch footprint and stands 43-1/2 inches high. --Emily Bedard ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Took a chance and I'm not disappointed!!
I had only heard of the "Shark" brand name in relation to hand vacs, but when I saw this one at a store I was intrigued: neat look, low price, nice design features(unlike some bagless models, you don't have to tilt the dirt cup downward when you remove it; filter is on top of dirt cup, making it easy to access; you only have to hit the foot pedal once to allow the brush to pivot, unlike my old Hoover; auto carpet height adjust). Also the weight was good for me, although it might be a bit much for someone very petite or with a bad back.
When I brought it home, I attached the handle(1 screw), and fired it up. Not only was it relatively quiet, but when I went back over a rug that had been cleaned the day before and got quite a lot more cat hair and general fuzz out of it; thanks to the super long cord, I was able to clean my entire first floor and stairs without moving the plug. This is my first bagless, and I don't regret the purchase!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Please guys, don't waste your money.
I know you have probably read the other reviews, and chances are, you won't get to this review. If you do make it here, take it from me-YOU DO NOT WANT THIS VACUUM! It's as simple as that. I stumbled upon this page, because I have exhausted my "on foot" search for the vacuum cleaner belts. It has been over a year-and I CAN NOT find the belts for this vacuum. Then, the thing smells like burnt rubber, all the time- works when it wants to,and yes CLOGS ALL THE TIME. I will not throw it away because the vacuum is almost brand new. I yelled at my husband because I thought he broke the vacuum after having it for a month-I didn't know everyone was having similar problems. Everything that everyone else described happened to us. I have been using an older vacuum of mine until I get "the belt" - now I know, I am getting a Hoover.

1-0 out of 5 stars Too much experience with this vacuum
I bought my first Shark EP708 from JC Penneys.... in a month it had kept overheating... called the company and they were going to pick up the old one and repair it. I complained at paying the postage to get their defective machine back to them for repairs.... they sent a new one and picked up the old one at their costs..... new one has worked well for 1 1/2 months (although a mess to empty), then the rotary belt broke. That's why I'm on the internet now... trying to find a new one....can't find one locally... found one on the company website... $15.00 + s&h, and includes bulbs that I don't need.... think I'll forget it and buy a Hoover!

1-0 out of 5 stars DISPOSABLE SWEEPER--DO NOT PURCHASE
I purchased this sweeper 9 months ago & it no longer has the suction that it should have. I called the Euro-Pro technical support line & was told to clean the filters and remove the beater brush and clean it as well. As expected, this did not solve the problem. The only satisfaction possible from this worthless company is to send the sweeper back to them--DON'T FORGET TO SEND THEM $16.99 & PAY FOR SHIPPING CHARGES!!! THEY ALSO INFORM YOU THAT YOU WILL RECEIVE THE REPAIRED SWEEPER BACK IN 4-6 WEEKS!!! I WILL NEVER BUY FROM THIS COMPANY AGAIN!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Vacuum and Customer Service Suck !
I had purchased this vacuum less than a year ago and boy do I regret it! I have a small living room and the thing overheats and shuts down before I can manage to finish the floor. It's messy to clean to say the least. The hose clogs frequently, the filter more frequently. Granted, it has good sucking power...when it's new and with it's first use after that it's a piece of crap. Customer service reps should all be smacked if anyone can ever find them because they're so hard to get a hold of. Do yourself a favor, spend your money on a well known quality vacuum. ... Amazon.com Review

The 1,400-watt Shark steam blaster uses the power of steam and a wide range of tools to deep-clean surfaces all over the home or office. In addition to floors, it can be used on appliances, countertops, blinds, toilets, garden furniture, automobiles, bicycles, and artificial plants. Because it uses no detergents or chemicals, it is safe for upholstery, glass, tile, hardwood, stainless steel, marble, ceramic, vinyl, fiberglass, and mirrors. The cleaner has an easy-access, 5-cup, stainless-steel water tank that generates up to 45 minutes of powerful steam. Engineered for speedy response, the electronic control panel heats cold water to 240 degrees F in 5 to 8 minutes and features ready and power indicator lights. Accessories for the Steam Blaster include a flexible hose, an angle adapter, two extension tubes, an 11-inch floor brush, a jet tube, a circular detail brush, and a squeegee. The jet tube is for toilets, refrigerators, and hubcaps, while the detail brush is ideal for grout or grills. The floor brush features built-in clamps so that you can use it with a towel for cleaning and drying floors in one swipe. To prevent overheating, the steam generator automatically switches off when water gets low in the tank. Like most steam cleaners, the Steam Blaster does not suck up released grime, so rinsing and wiping are necessary during use. The unit comes with a shoulder strap, carrying handle, safety tank cap, and filling funnel. Euro-Pro includes a one-year limited warranty.--Emily Bedard ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This product is a must have!
If you are compulsive about keeping your home (or anything else) clean, this product is GREAT! It has three attachments to complete almost any job. One is a brush for the floor, a squeegee like tool for windows and tiles, and a small brush for jobs like the oven. I primarily bought it to clean my baseboards and hardwood floors. It literally blasts the dust and dirt away. You do have to follow with a clean cloth to finish up the job, but it makes it very easy by disolving the grime. I also cleaned my oven with it, and it powers away the grease and mess with ease. The steam is super hot, and I felt like I was really able to sanitize my floors with it, which is important to me with small children crawling around. Additionally, it can be used to clean out small spaces which are normally difficult to clean, like cupholders in the car, around taps in the bathrooms etc. I think this is a great product, and well worth the money! ...
