Forget parchment paper! This reusable baking mat saves plenty of money by lining your trays for a lifetime of cookie baking. The mat is made of FDA-approved food-grade silicone--the long-standing material of choice for professional bakers. The mat can withstand temperatures ranging from –58 degrees Fahrenheit to 900 degrees Fahrenheit so cookie dough can go from pastry board to freezer to oven without any problems. Silicone promotes even heat distribution so baked goods come out moist and delicious. A high-gloss nonstick finish makes it easier to remove cookies or pastry from the baking mat and, because it is nonporous, it won’t retain the odors or flavors of your food after cooking. Measuring 16-3/4 by 11-3/4, this mat fits most standard-size baking sheets. It also can be used on a wood cutting board or kitchen counter to create an impromptu pastry station. The mat grips any surface and won’t slip while kneading dough; plus inch marks (up to 16 inches) across the bottom help line dough up to cut exact strips for cookies or biscotti. 5-0 out of 5 stars I agree that this is a great product
My first experience with a silicone mat was nothing short of a revelation, so I went on a mission to see if the several brands available offered anything the others lacked. In my opinion, this one performs as well as the others that I have used (which is to say it's fantastic). I use them for pastry, cookies, and any other baking that normally threatens me with over baked bottom sides, and breakage due to sticking. I have not used them for candy, but sugar that has fallen from cookies, and carmalized on it's surface doesn't stick in the least. This is a great product.

For roasts, I use a roasting pan. I like to make my own gravy, and I don't see how a silicone liner would help the process.

For pizza, I use an air core pizza pan that is riddled with holes to ensure a crisp crust by allowing moisture to escape rather than turning the bottom of the pie into mush. The same holds true for reheating a pizza. To put a silicone pad between a pizza and the heat source is inviting pizza disaster.

I suspect the bad review was due to a combination of operator error and misunderstanding of cooking concepts, rather than a defective product.

5-0 out of 5 stars These things rock
The previous reviewer seemed to have mistaken a baking mat - replaces parchment paper or grease on a baking sheet - with a baking sheet. What it does is provide a surface to which almost no baked products adhere. Why you'd do a roast or pizza on top of it is beyond me. I've used it for cookies, various candied desserts, and a number of things where you'd otherwise have to line or grease the baking pan. In each case it performed superbly. It's also incredibly easy to clean (unless, apparently, you do something ridiculous like puncture it).

1-0 out of 5 stars What a Disappointment
I used this maybe a dozen times before I stopped using it out of disgust. The surface is fragile and hard to clean. I reheated pizza and the residue stuck so tightly it could only be scraped off with extreme care. I did a bone-in slow roast and the weight alone pierced the surface so the juices bled into the matting layer. What's the point if you can't clean it or let anything harder than Jell-O come into contact with it.
Just to clarify--the mat was used to line an air-bake cookie sheet for the pizza and to line a baking pan with the roast on top of a bed of carrots and celery. ... Read more

These four cutting boards are made of a unique material that is cropping up more and more in kitchenware these days—FDA-approved, food-grade silicone. Ideal for use in smaller kitchens, these boards are flexible and can be rolled up to fit in any drawer. In addition, they have a non-skid backing to secure them onto any work surface that happens to be available. The heavy-grade silicone stands up to even the sharpest knives so you aren’t able to cut through the boards. For hygiene, the boards are color-coded to remind you to use a particular color for each food you prepare: green is for cutting vegetables, red is for meat, orange is for poultry, and blue is for fish. The boards are all nonporous and won’t retain the odors or flavors of your food. 4-0 out of 5 stars Good, but knives leave marks
Overall, I'm really happy with the cutting boards. The non-skid backing works great on the countertops. The only thing that I don't like ishow my knives have left marks on the board. I don't think I'll cut through the boards, they seem pretty tough. But now they don't look as nice as when I first bought them.

1-0 out of 5 stars Fell apart in a month
I loved loved loved these at first- they're cool, they're pretty, they store rolled up, and they make transferring veggies to the pot a snap. However, my opinion quickly changed. The sticky backing started rubbing off after a few weeks, and the boards do not stand up to use with a Chinese meat cleaver. Now, let me assure you that I was not overly rough with the boards. I always made sure that the backing was side down on the counter, I don't even own a dishwasher, I wash them with Seventh Generation all natural soap, which is extremely mild, and I followed all their directions. There's supposedly a guarantee, but I couldn't find a way to get in touch with the company, so it did me no good. So alas, it's back to old fashioned cutting boards for me! I would only suggest buying these if you don't cook a lot and only use them for light tasks like chopping vegetables.

4-0 out of 5 stars Doesn't slide, but does pick up scratches
The boards work well on the counter top. The thing that keeps them from getting 5 stars is they will quickly have scratches from knife marks, but they don't seem to be a problem. They do well in the dish washer even with high temp scrub washing. However, don't confuse them for a Silicone baking mat and put them in a 400 degree oven like my wife did! One of ours melted like crazy and shrunk into a gooey ball. Luckily, it peeled right off the pan when it cooled.

5-0 out of 5 stars great idea!
I got these boards because I was setting up a kitchen and knew I wanted multiple boards, but didn't want thick ones. These boards are great.
-The colors are helpful for distinguishing between the different uses. I can pull out the red one any time I deal with meat, then toss it into the dishwasher and move on to vegetables without worrying about transfer of bacteria.
-The silicone is a nice material for the kitchen, and the thin boards are flexible enough to facilitate dumping chopped food into pans.
-The non-slip bottoms are a great idea--who wants to use a knife on a shifting surface. They are also well-executed in that they really don't seem to slip.
-I've used mine as trivets of a sort--they seem to take heat well while protecting my table or countertops.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great multi-use boards.
Since buying these boards, I've used them many times. Just one example: when making fresh fruit salad, these boards make it so easy to handle slippery items like kiwi slices or melon chunks. Just lift, curve board and dump into bowl. And cleanup is a snap, a quick wipe with some antibacterial dish soap.

Two caveats: boards are a bit small for my taste, I like a big work area; also, boards are very smooth, so put down a towel or two under the board when cutting items that give off lots of juices.

Overall, definitely one of the best gagdets I've bought. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars jumbo size disappointment
Warning: everything I bake in these has a weird taste because of the silicone - not a plastic taste, but kinda perfumey. It's disgusting.Giant paper muffin cups might help, but I'm buying new metal pans.If you care about taste, stay away from these!

5-0 out of 5 stars engineer, not a baker
I bought one of these muffin pans because I was excited at the prospect of owning a piece of bakeware whose lining wasn't destroyed by the 3rd time I wanted to use it. For that alone, I would give this item 5 stars.

I am not an experienced baker, but I think that after reading the other review for this item that more balanced comments need to be stated regarding the actual use of this muffin pan.

So here are my comments:

1. You need to use a cookie sheet (or something similar) to support the pan since it is flexible.

2. The muffins cook faster than with a metal pan.

3. The muffins seem small if you fill the cups as you would with a metal muffin pan - you can actually fill them up all the way. (Recall that I am not an experienced baker; as an engineer I suspect that since the muffins cook differently, i.e. faster, this could be compensated by adjusting the batter in some manner. As far I'm concerned as long as the muffins taste good, it doesn't matter to me.)

4. The coating is not exactly non-stick. You do not need to grease the pan, but you do need to be careful when it comes time to remove the muffins. I use the dull side of table knife to separate the muffin sides from the pan (while gently pulling the pan). After doing that I put a plate on top of the muffin pan andhold it against the pan as I invert the pan. All I have to do then is tap the bottoms of the muffin cups to get them out. By my third time doing this I was able to get them all out intact and unscathed.

I am very happy with my muffin pan - it might take a little bit of getting used to for someone used to other pans - but for me, the benefit of not having a cheap non-stick coating peeling off of the metal after a year more than compensates for a slight learning curve on the use.

2-0 out of 5 stars Silly-con!
I got this as a Christmas present. I have wanted one for a while as I loved the idea of a non-stick, easy to wash, easy to store muffin pan. It's not very non-stick. My first batch of muffins stuck horrendously and I was very disappointed. Looks like I'll have to use nonstick spray to make this one nonstick. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Silicone bakeware rules
It's particularly good for things like layer cakes and small items, that can be hard to get out of the pan. Flip it over and twist the opposite corners, and it falls right out - in one piece with no gouges from trying to wedge it out of the pan. Cleanup is very easy too.

You should know a couple of things. First, the silicone is very slick, but you still need to grease the pan for baking. It's not as nonstick as teflon. Second, the pan is flexible, so you'll want to put it on a cookie sheet before filling, and bake with the pan resting on the cookie sheet. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Unimpressed
After baking three cakes in the pan, I am totally underwhelmed by its performance. The waffle/diamond pattern in the bottom sticks badly unless you use enough oil and flour to fill them. Then, you wind up with so much flour/oil coating on the cake that you must scrape it off. They do NOT clean up easily even with large amounts of oil and flour. I could not hand clean all the residue. The residue would not come off in the dishwasher, either. Only using a Scotchbrite pad could get them clean and this is, of course not recommended.

They must be used on a cookie sheet which increases the cooking time. Do not level your batter until you place it on the cookie sheet, because, when you lift the pan, (the pan is flexible) it will undo your work. Also, you cannot use the pan inverted, for assembling because the sides are too flexible.

I'm returning them.

3-0 out of 5 stars Very nonstick, but also very floppy, only rated to 428 deg
This cake pan has a nice shiny surface on the inside, which I assume makes it more non-stick. Some silicone bakeware has a dull inside surface. And cakes do flip out very easily. It also appears to be well constructed. It's flexible yet strong. Though it's a little floppy, so you do have to put a cooking sheet under it to take it out of the oven otherwise you'll break up the cake. When I bend the pan, it doesn't show any white, which indicates no fillers were used. Its other drawback is that it's only good to 428 degrees. That's okay with the cake recipes I use, but it makes wonder about its overall quality. The SiliconeZone web sitesays that their bakeware is FDA approved to 625 degrees, so I don't understand why this item is not. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Wayyyy cute!
While I agree that the pan isn't very non-stick, after some testing, I pressed the regular round paper liners into the heart shape.I didn't overfill the muffin cups, and they were TOTALLY cute! They were a big hit at both the preschool and the office. They're a little smaller, so a regular 24 cupcake recipe makes more like 32 extremely cute cupcakes.I have 2 pans, am thinking of getting 2 more to speed the baking.

2-0 out of 5 stars NOT Non-stick
The very first set of muffins I made in this pan stuck horribly.I ended up with half of each muffin stuck in the pan.For cookware that claims to have a non-stick surface this was less than impressive.I received this pan as a Christmas gift (and it took over six weeks to finally arrive) and I am highly disappointed

4-0 out of 5 stars Gorgeous, cute, but...
The red is rich and gorgeous, the muffins produced are cute as anything. But they are pretty small, larger than mini-muffins, but smaller than any other muffin I have ever seen. Also, this silicone seems thinner than other pans I have and just a bit less "non-stick."It makes for easier folding, but also distorts the muffins a bit when you remove them from the pan.My grandkids LOVE the little muffins. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars It's to wide
I bake a lot of bread, in fact I have not bought bread for over a year now.I bought this item as I was looking for a great non-stick produc and it is!However that's where my appreciation for this product ends.

I think it's actually dangerous to put this product into a hot oven because it's too flexible.I'm afraid I will burn myself as it flexes so I don't use it very often.

Additionally, the pan is so wide that I'm not happy with the height of the loaf.If you happen to make very large loaves, then perhaps this is the pan for you.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not suitable for many bread recipes
I must point out this particular silicone loaf pan is only FDA approved to 425 degrees. If like me, you're not a cook, you may not be aware that many bread recipes call for a period of heating at 450 degrees, so it is not suitable for many bread recipes. Not realising this, I bought this bread pan for my mother for a Christmas present and then had to return it, because it doesn't work for my mother's main bread recipe. We had read the SiliconeZone web site that said that their bakeware was FDA approved to 625 degrees, so I don't understand why this item is not.

This loaf pan has a nice shiny surface on the inside, which I assume makes it more non-stick.Some silicone bakeware has a dull inside surface. It also appeared to be well constructed. It was flexible yet strong. When I bent it, it didn't show any white, which indicates no fillers were used.

However these pluses can't outweight the serious drawbacks of its low temperature.I would recommend you buy another silicone loaf pan that is FDA rated up to 500 degrees, which is the typical temperature. ... Read more

This is exactly the right tool for cooking almost everything. The coating covers the entire spatula... there's no attaching of head to handle... no places for food to get trapped (or for the spatula to pull apart, as so many of mine have done in the past). 1-0 out of 5 stars ruined my cake
i own many kitchenaid appliances and love the brand. i even own a silicone muffin pan which i love. this pan, however, is terrible. the cake did not bake completely and i had a terrible time trying to get it out of the pan. (yes, i sprayed the pan effectively.) do not waste your money! stick to the metal pans.

2-0 out of 5 stars Stick With Metal Pans
This is a beautiful blue color, coordinates with my kitchen. However, I'll bake my poundcakes in my old, reliable metal pans. I tried to use this a few times, spraying every nook and cranny with Baker's Secret release spray. Without fail, each time the cake stuck to the pan in a few places.

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
Although the SiliconeZone products are generally good at what they do, this product has two major limitation. Cakes become very flat on the top, or even take on the shape of the oven rack, because the weight of the cake presses down on the bottom of the pan (which becomes the top of the cake). Although the makers of this pan talk about the even heat conduction of silicone, any baked goods prepared in silicone pans won't brown--or cook--nearly as well as anything prepared in a metal pan.

For this price, you can get a heavy-duty nonstick metal Bundt pan that will serve you much better. ... Read more
