5-0 out of 5 stars Product Performance
I just purchased the 4-slice Hoffritz Waffle Maker. I presently own the 2-slice Hoffritz Waffle Maker. I let my mother use it and she loves it so well that I have not had the heart to take it from her. I truly love your waffle maker.

I purchasd another brand for my house and it did not even compare with the quality and/or performance of the Hoffritz Waffle Maker. I returned it for a refund.

I cannot understand why this product is being discontinued. It is excellent. My sister in law also purchased her a Hoffritz Waffle Maker. We love the waffles that it makes.

I look forward to many, many mornings of wonderful fluffy waffles cooked to perfection by the Hoffritz Waffle Maker.

Now that I just purchased a 4-slice waffle maker from you, I want have to upset my mother. (Smile)

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Belgian waffler I have ever owned.
I have owned three Belgian wafflers including this one. This one is by far the best. The problem I had with the other two, was that the waffles consistently stuck to the "non-stick" coating. This is NOT a problem with the Hoffritz. In addition to the fact that the waffles do not stick to the waffle iron, it has the added benefit of making great waffles too! I like it so much, I am thinking of picking up the 4-slice model. There is also a great recipe for Belgian waffles from scratch (no mix needed) in the instruction manual. A tip on the Belgian waffles: If you use quick rising yeast, you only need to let the mix stand for 2 hours, not 6, and there is also no need to separate the eggs, just crack the whole eggs into the mix at the appropriate time. Also, you may want to add 2TSP of vanilla to the mix - it makes them much better. This waffler may cost about twice what a waffler should, but it is well worth it if you like waffles.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Belgian Waffle Maker
I received this waffle maker about a month ago and have only used box mix's and still these are the best waffles my kids and I have ever had. I seasoned grills with oil the first time, like a reviewer insisted and waffles pull out and are perfect every time. Have never owned a waffler before, but I don't know how it could be better than the Hoffritz. I actually have the four belgian waffler which is great for two older son's and there friends. Awesome!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars WONDERFUL WAFFLE MAKER
If you like waffles you'll love this waffle maker from Hoffritz!

We especially like the ability to make a thicker waffle - no more of those thin almost transparent ones. It's easy clean, and quick to heat.

Afraid we waffled for far too long before buying this!

1-0 out of 5 stars Warning : Handle failed on first use, dropping lid!
The Hoffritz is not you mothers waffle maker - designed for a lifetime of use with a sturdy Bakelite handle.

Instead (at least in the case of the unit I purchased) it's a stylish guillotine, waiting to waffle you hand; on first use the left half of the thin (1/6") brittle plastic handle which raises the upper half of the cooking surface failed at the left corner and center of its molded slot and detached, causing the lid to descend in an uncontrolled manner.

In my opinion this appliance is unsuitable for use until this problem is corrected. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
This waffle maker seems to be available under many brand names including Cuisinart, Russel Hobbs, Salton, and at least one other that I can't think of. I first tried to order the Hoffritz through ihome via Amazon but that has been a complete fiasco. Never use ihome (aka Warehouse Outlet of Chicago), I've wasted 2 months with them so far and still don't have my money back (they don't seem to have any new or working Hoffritz waffle makers).

Anyway, I ordered this one through Chefs Catalog as a close out for $30 under a different brand name. The waffle maker is terrific. It cooks evenly and has easy to use controls. The first couple of waffles stuck a little, but since then, I've had no problems with sticking. The only thing they could improve on would be to increase the overflow "gutter" around the grid.

I recently tried the large VillaWare belgian waffle maker but it cooked very unevenly, even after being replaced by the manufacturer.

4-0 out of 5 stars Makes great waffles
I made my first waffles ever on this machine and it hasn't turned out a bad batch yet. The waffles cook evenly, and quickly, the machine is easy to use, and has a nice look to it. The only complaint, really no big deal, is that you cannot remove the plates for cleaning. In truth it is still very easy to clean without this feature.

5-0 out of 5 stars HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! EASY TO USE!!
We did online research and read reviews for many waffle irons before we purchased the Hoffritz Belgian Waffle Maker. It makes wonderful huge waffles and perfect every time. We are looking forward to trying different recipes.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Waffler
My wife likes Belgian waffles and I like the ordinary kind. We had been using a sunbeam waffle maker that we got for a wedding present and a Black and Decker Belgian waffle maker that we'd picked up in the Eighties. Both of these were getting pretty ratty. I replaced them for our 30th anniversary with a Hoffritz HZBW4 4-Slice Belgian waffler and a Villaware 2001C classic waffler. I liked the looks of the Hoffritz, but couldn't find it in a regular waffle. Anyway, we've been using them for a couple of months now, and here's the take on them:
They're both great, but I like the Hoffritz better. I like the digital controls. It takes a little longer to cook a waffle than the Villaware, but just long enough to take care of the waffle from the Villaware before the Hoffritz signals it's done. They both have audible "ready" signals and lights. The Hoffritz is quite a bit larger than the Villaware. They both look good. They both cook great waffles. The Villaware has kind of a tacky mechanical lever for setting how "done" you want your waffle; this lever does not ratchet, so it is easy to accidentally change the setting. The Hoffritz has a button for a "crispy" waffle; I haven't noticed that it does anything different when set; set at "3" it makes the waffles crispy like my wife prefers. I like my waffles less crispy; I've been using the Villaware set at "5," but I think I'm going to try jacking it up a little. The outside of the Villaware seems to get hotter than the Hoffritz; and stays hot a lot longer; maybe because it's made of cast aluminum rather than the Hoffritz's stainless steel. I read a review of a waffler where the person was complaining about the outside getting dangerously hot. As far as I know that's true of all wafflers, and neither of these are an exception. Bottom line, they're both imminently satisfying, if I had to choose between the two, I'd want them to make a Hoffritz that cooks "regular" waffles. ... Read more

Capable of handling cans as tall as 8 inches, this big, heavy, electric can opener also has a built-in knife and scissors sharpener onits back and a bottle opener on the front directly under thecan-opening assembly. 5-0 out of 5 stars Best Can Opener I Have Ever Had
Tall, sleek, quiet in operation and absolutely wonderful for my big old 3 lb. cans of coffee. Very, very nice to look at and easy to use and clean. I hope it is restocked as soon as possible for others that I have recommended the can opener to.

5-0 out of 5 stars Solid Appliance
Our Hoffritz opener arrived today, we used it, and we are pleased. We're glad we took the time not only to research openers thoroughly on Amazon but also to physically handle many of them at Bed, Bath & Beyond. The other openers feel insubstantial. We decided to buy the Hoffritz opener even though there were no reviews to help us decide. We couldn't be more satisfied with that decision. It's so easy to use, my wife had no need to read the instructions first. It worked like a charm. Cleaning is a breeze. It's easy to take it apart to clean and to reassemble it. The retractable power cord is a major space saving advantage in a busy counter top with no loose cords to get in the way. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Equipped with two sets of blades that swivel for either horizontal or vertical cutting, this powerful 150-watt electric knife adds versatility and convenience to a conventional electric knife's virtues. One blade set has small serrations for cutting all manner of food. The other has large serrations for slicing crusty bread and frozen food. Pushing a button on the power handle's snout permits the snout to be turned so the blades face downward for normal cutting or sideways for neatly slicing a cake into layers or a frozen block of hamburger. Because the snout swivels either to the right or to the left, and because the knife's power cord also swivels, this knife can be used with equal ease by both left-handers and right-handers.Like any electric knife, this model requires no knife skills to cut professional-looking slices, thick or thin, from roasts, ham, turkey, and bread. Grasping the power handle, pulling the trigger, and drawing the knife in a straight line allows the 8-inch blades, which saw back and forth at high speed, to do the work effortlessly and safely. The top-mounted handle--rubberized like the snout for nonslipcomfort--permits the blades to slice straight down to the cutting surface. The handsome knife has a brushed-finish aluminum housing, a smooth-finish golden accent band on the butt end, and black, rubberized accents. --Fred Brack ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Perhaps not what you want
Don't use this pot for Fondue Bourguignon unless you enjoy being disappointed. It never heats the oil sufficiently to sear the outside of the meat. Consequently, food takes too long to cook and comes out slightly rubbery. Even if you preheat the oil before placing it on the base (something the manufacturer warns against), the built-in thermostat works against you. The pot is probably ideal for cheese, broth or dessert fondue. It's also beautiful and cleans up easily. I would definitely have given it 5 stars if it maintained a higher temperature.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect!
We decided on an electric fondue for ease of use and safety with our daughter. This one couldn't have been a better choice. This weekend we made both cheese and chocolate fondue. First, nice thing is that it gets hot enough that you can cook right in the fondue pot not on the stove and then have to transfer it. Turned to the #4 setting the wine for the cheese fondue was boiling in about two minutes and then the fondue was complete just a few minutes later (err on the side of using a slightly lower setting so you don't have to be as observant). Once made, you reduce the hear to serving temp and the Hoffritz kept the temp rock steady - didn't have to adjust it once. Chocolate fondue worked just as perfectly.

Pluses, using Pam the clean-up was really easy. Even though the pot is dishwasher safe, it cleaned up in the sink easily (for the chocolate, I soaked it for about five minutes). The forks are good quality - never felt like they were going to bend or break.

Slight minuses -- The cord is really short. They probably all are that way for safety reasons, but you just have to use an extension cord which sort of defeats the purpose of making it short. The base gets pretty hot. I guess something has to heat up , but it makes it a bit of a pain if you have to move it around the table.

All in all a five star+. ... Read more

Perfect for cheese, sandwich meats, roast beef, bacon, bread, and vegetables like tomatoes and zucchini, this compact, 100-wattelectric appliance makes it possible to slice unlimited quantities offood quickly, safely, and uniformly. A knob covered in soft,slip-resistant Santoprene precisely adjusts slicing thickness fromwafer-thin to extra thick, and an electronic scale weighs food as it'ssliced. Both selected thickness and weight are displayed on the controlpanel's LCD screen atop the slicer. Pressing a "weight reset" buttonsubtracts the weight of the slicer's transparent plastic food tray (orother container) when it's on the scale so only the food's weight--ingrams or ounces (to hundredths)--is shown. When not in use, the foodtray flips over to serve as a scale cover.

Several safety features protect against harm from the slicer's7-1/2-inch-diameter, stainless-steel blade. A sturdy, plastic feederslides food to the blade. It has a guard that prevents hands fromgetting close to the blade and a rail for grasping and pushing. Atransparent plastic food press attaches to the feeder's rail with ahook. Grasping that hook and the rail simultaneously allows one-handoperation while also pressing food toward the blade. The food press'sface is covered with points that grip food securely. For safety whenthe slicer is not operating, the feeder can be locked in place coveringthe blade. Food press, feeder, food tray, and blade remove for handwashing. Four AA batteries (included) power the scale and controlpanel. If unused for 15 minutes, the control panel automatically shutsoff to save batteries. The slicer is ruggedly constructed of castaluminum (with a stainless-steel panel next to the blade), has built-incarrying handles, and accommodates up to 4.4 pounds of food. 1-0 out of 5 stars Died young, no repair available
Hoffritz makes a good blade, but the rest of the machine was very poor. It was awkward to use, only sliced well occassionally & was hard to clean. Worst, the motor was slowing down, and the on/off switch broke 1 month after the guarentee ended. It had been used only 5 times, so I figure it cost about $32 per slicing session, or about $.50 per slice!

A very nice customer service lady told me repair wasn't available, but I could send them my broken slicer and would receive for half price ($80), no shipping, a refurbished unit with a 90 day warantee. I would pay to ship th broken unit to them. Considering how long the first one lasted, this didn't seem like a good idea at all.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome value!!!!!!
I highly reccommend this product. It is a heavy, all metal slicer that does a fantastic job. I have seen smaller all plastic models sell for more than this. If you want to save money and buy larger cuts of meat, cheese and such and slice them yourself this is the slicer for you.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Slicer Except for 1 thing...
This is a great slicer. It has all the features and then some. Easy to adjust the blade. A nice scale with tare weight. The only thing wrong is the Safety on/off Switch. You must hold the switch with one hand while pushing the slicer with the other. You cannot catch and arrange the slices unless you have a third hand. If you don't mind this inconvience, I recomend this slicer. I returned the first delivered slicer thinking there was a defective on/off switch. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Too expensive, but works okay
My unit has worked fine since arrival. It doesn't get heavy use. I would have liked to see a hold button on the automatic loading cycle, and the heating wires could have been constructed and designed better---especially at this price. The finish was perfect and if you like the retro look you should like this. Easy cleaning for the crumb tray also. Like the defrost cycle and extra wide slots.

1-0 out of 5 stars terrible
My first toaster didn't work at all! I sent it back to the
company for a replacement. The second one had a seriously
flawed finish and toasted only one side of the bread!

1-0 out of 5 stars Dud
It's hard to know what to say. I ordered this, in spite of high price, because of the very favorable reviews. Mine arrived and simply didn't work. It didn't function poorly -- it didn't function at all! I'm returning it for a less expensive toaster that (I hope) will work.

5-0 out of 5 stars Past made present
It may be silly to love a toaster but when I was a kid (50 years ago) my mother had this toaster. I loved watching it lower bread and return toast and I still do. What a great toaster.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Toaster
This is the same toaster that is also sold as the Farberware FCT200 "Down Right" Classic 2-slice Toaster. As far as I can tell, the only difference besides the price is the finish on the Hoofritz is satin finish, which I would have preferred. This toaster is fantastic. Some might think it silly to pay for a toaster that self-lowers. Yes, it is a "luxury", but well worth it. It makes GREAT toasted anything. ... Read more
