5-0 out of 5 stars Love This Griddle!
This is the best small appliance I have purchased in a long time! I sold my George Forman grill in a yard sale, this griddle is so much fun to cook on and super easy to clean! The grease just pours off into the drip tray and makes delicious food. I made six large New York strip steaks on this, done to perfection! I fried an entire pound of crispy bacon and the fat just melted away...and best of all, it goes into the sink and gets really clean. I would'nt trade this for anything, I absolutely love the ease of cooking and the quick cleanup, it is well made and very much worth the money. Have fun in the kitchen again...buy this!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Flip & Enjoy!
I was very pleased with the performance of this griddle. The surface is nice and slick, and there's plenty of room to maneuver and flip. And since I'm not tied to the cooktop, I can set it up on any convenient counter in the kitchen.

Ignore the temperature suggestions on the driptray, though. 375 degrees is way too hot for pancakes (which is what I use it the most for) - 350 is perfect for most things.

I really do recommend this griddle highly!

4-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous (thought the drip tray could be a bit more durable)
Have owned this for the past three months and love it--it does exactly what it's meant to do, very well, it's easy to clean, and has yet to lose its no-stick finish. The only problem is the drip tray--one of the prongs that holds it in place broke within a day or two of purchase and it falls out as it's being transported. It's still working, though, so it hasn't affected our use of this [inexpensive], useful appliance.

5-0 out of 5 stars jumbo griddle
I purchased my griddle in time for the holidays and was
very pleased with the x-large surface cooking area and how well
it keeps an even heat througth out the surface. Although I was
a bit skeptical about the teflon coating I have been very impreased with its performance. The large drip tray is also very easy to clean. So if your like me and love pancakes, frenchtoast,
bacon and eggs or just some great hashbrowns, or maybe just
some good toasted cheese sandwiches! I know you'll be very happy with your purchase! ... Read more

No special expertise is required to cut professional-looking slices, thick or thin, from roasts, ham, turkey, and bread with the powerful 100-watt electric knife in this carving set. Just grasp the handle, pull the trigger, draw the knife in a straight line, and let the two serrated blades, which saw back and forth at high speed, do the work. It's effortless and safe. The knife comes with a two-pronged fork in a compact (15 by 5 by 2-7/8 inches) storage case made of flexible plastic, with a foam insert molded to hold the set. The 7-1/2-inch knife blades and the 12-inch fork are made of stainless steel. The fork is dishwasher-safe, but the blades should be hand washed in hot, soapy water. --Fred Brack ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Knife - Bad Box
Although this knife works as well as I would expect an electric
knife to work, getting into the box is a @#%*&@*!! The large
fork is a plus.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great buy... exceeded expectations
This was my first electric carving knife and it has been goodbye uneven chunks of meat since then. It is easy to use, clean and store. The blades are sharp, it is easy to manouvre and comfortable to hold. I am a small time caterer and was afraid to offer any thing that needed carving... but now I'm a happy slicer.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Item!
After having a rechargeable knife that was not very "user friendly", I have enjoyed using this knife. It is ready to go the minute I plug it in. The case is very handy and the price is reasonable.

5-0 out of 5 stars Knife, fork, cute box-- it's a winner!
This is a really nice electric knife carving set. I bought it because it was such a good deal and also because i always find myself saying, "Gee, it would be much easier to cut this up if i had an electric knife." And now i have one. The nice storage box, not mentioned very well in description, makes it very easy to store. It is very annoying with other knives i have seen to have blades in one place, electrical part in another and carving fork somewhere else. this makes it very easy to store in one place. And its from a name you know and love! ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

This waffle baker really works. Pour in the batter, close the lid, and flip once--either sideways or front to back--and in five minutes two thick and fluffy Belgian waffles are ready. It's amazing. The flipping creates an air pocket in the center of the waffle that's pure chemistry. There are also several features that make using this device almost foolproof (though there is a slight learning curve). A well-written recipe book is included that provides some delicious waffle recipes and great baking tips, even if you're using a prepackaged mix. The indicator light is also great: it turns green when the baker is ready for the batter, eliminating guesswork. And the nonstick surface is super--when your waffles are done (five minutes is a good benchmark, and the lid should lift easily), they peel off the grid smoothly. Cleanup is easy, too. A covered hinge and a batter channel prevent messy spills, and the nonstick surface wipes clean with a sponge or a soft brush. Best of all, the waffle baker stores upright. All in all, this is a dandy addition to any kitchen. --C. Whitney-Ward ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars really very good
Only have used it a few times, but its easy and almost foolproof.
I'm only using Aunt Jemima or Hungry Jack pancake mix for now. Tried adding 2 small bananas to the basic recipe. For that, I needed a spray-on oil, like Pam. Little booklet does warn you that recipes with extra sugar may require spraying.

Wish it had a timer, like some more expensive ones. But maybe a timer wouldnt really help. Depending on what's in the waffle, it might take a different amount of time to cook. With bananas thrown into the most basic Aunt Jemima mix, I found the waffles required a bit more time. But u cant wait til the steaming stops before removing these banana waffles. I guess the bananas will keep on steaming , long after waffle is already quite golden. Even tho I've experimented a bit, there's nothing about this machine that's gonna fool u much. It stores upright, everything is basically good.

The booklet does tell u to start with simple stuff and experiment later. If u have a huge family, maybe u would be better off with an iron that makes 4 at a time. Anyway, overall, I'm quite pleased.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Waffles!!!!!!!!!!!
I was a bit apprehensive about buying a waffle iron that suggested "flipping" the unit for the fluffiest waffles. Actually, the process is very simple and the finished product is great. Waffles are evenly cooked and are a perfect golden brown. Indicator lights seem to work very well. The non-stick finish makes clean up a breeze. I would highly reccommend this appliance to anyone looking for a waffle maker which allows them to make wonderful restaurant quality Belgian waffles at home.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good for a crowd!
I used this for the first time this weekend...I used belgian waffle mix and they turned out great! No sticking, no guesswork, and my guests liked the ability to eat the "stix" rather than a huge waffle if they just wanted a little bit more. It cooked consistently and the waffles were very easy to remove. This one is a keeper! Even a guest was interested in getting one for her own home.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Waffles, Great Price
We have had this for about 6 weeks now, and used it 4 times. Each time it has worked quite well. The recipe book is very helpful, both with new kinds to try and general hints for making the waffles. We make double and triple batches so we have plenty for quick breakfasts out of the freezer during the week. As has been previously posted, make sure you understand this does not have a timer or indicator light for waffle completion, so you will have to time it yourself, and watch for the cessation of steam as an indicator of "doneness". It is not hard to use, and turns out a light, fluffy waffle every time you follow the directions.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Waffles, Easy to Use
The signifigant other has deligated all waffle making to me since I got this Flip 'n Fluff baker. I have not had a problem with sticking as I have used a very light application of Canola Oil spray from the start. On occasion the waffle will fall off the top plate before the lid is all the way open. Otherwise a slight nudge with a plastic fork works.

I have been using Bisquick & the waffle recipe from the box with minor modification. I substitute melted butter for the oil & add one teaspoon of Vanilla Extract for flavor enhancement. The box recipe is for 12 standard waffles, I got 8 belgian with a little batter left over. Now I tripple the recipe & store the extra batter in the refrigerator. Allow the batter to come to room temprature before use. Ihop & Denneys eat your heart out.

As the stove is not being used, I put a small amount of water on the plates, stack them, place in the microwave for 50 seconds & have hot plate centers with cool rims for handeling, dump the water in sink, wipe & thay are ready for the waffles. ... Read more

It seems an affront to simply call this product a can opener. Sure, it does that, but it takes can opening to a new level by making safety a priority. It carefully opens cans from the side and not the top, so that you won't get your fingers messy trying to retrieve the lid. But best of all, a special feature allows it to smooth the edge of the can as it cuts, leaving behind a flat--and safe--surface. It also includes a built-in a knife sharpener for convenience. And no hassling with extra electrical cord lying on your counter top: a retractable feature tucks the extra cord away neatly into the base. --Linda Dahlstrom ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars The added safety is well worth the higher price
Having chopped about a million vegetables without a nick, I find it ironic that I'd end up slashing my hand on a can lid. This product is well worth the extra money to avoid those sharp lids. Plus, you don't have to worry about fishing around for the lid, because this opener doesn't drop it into the can. If you have kids who sometimes prepare soup by themselves, or for people who might not see the edge of the lid as well as they used to, I'm sure this product will pay for itself with the money you save on band-aids.

4-0 out of 5 stars Easier than you think it is
I actually shopped around here at amazon for a can opener. I wanted something that wouldn't leave sharp edges and was automatic. I think I chose very well in this product.

It's easier to use than you would think. There's a quick pictorial guide on how to use it, but once you put the can under the wheel and slide the button into on position, you know instantly what happens next. Your can gets opened, it actually cuts under the rim so that the main lip of the rim stays with the top and not on the can. This leaves it very smooth and easy to handle.

I also like that the cord can be stored inside the device. It's not auto retractable, you have to feed it into the base yourself, but it's not a hassle or anything.

This is a good can opener. I guess you could use it with one hand if you were so inclined, but I like to combine actions with both hands. One hand puts the can under the wheel, the other hand slides it to the on position. Then one hand turns it to off position and the other hand pulls the can down.

5-0 out of 5 stars OPEN WITH EASE
Finally!! Imagine a can opener that can open a can without figeting at all, leaves the edges smooth and clean and is under 30 bucks! YOU JUST FOUND IT! What a great product! To think I have suffered with a Black and Decker model for way too long just because I thought that was the way all electric can openers were. Thank goodness I read the reviews on this product and took the chance! Buy with confidence you won't be disappointed.

1-0 out of 5 stars Can opener with some problems
I have had my can opener for a while now. I am going to get rid of it. It leaves metal shavings if you don't get the can opened on the first try.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Product!
What a can opener! The best part of this model is the smooth edge feature. No more worries about sharp, dangerous lids which can cause injuries.

On hot summer days nothing beats a scoop of snow--to eat! This delightful Snowman churns out bowlfuls of shaved ice in just seconds. Kids can slurp flavored sno-cones for a birthday party and adults can sip frozen daiquiris for evenings on the deck. Two 4-inch round plastic molds with lids are included for freezing water, syrup-flavored water, or fruit juices. Simply place the frozen round (regular ice cubes will work, too, but not as well) in the blade unit, cover with the motorized top, and press down on the palm-size operating button. A bowl placed underneath (not included) catches the instant snow. For safety the sharp blade is completely internal and not accessible to fingers when the Snowman is operating. The machine measures 13 inches high when assembled, with an 8-inch-square base. A one-year warranty covers the Snowman against defects. --Ann Bieri ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderfull summer treat !!!
When I was pregnant this just hit the spot every time! I started reading what other people wrote and could not believe people wrote about a snow cone maker, and here I am. I just thought it was worth writting about because it was SO easy! I add the ice or the bucket that it comes with to freeze and then shave it, add my flavor & then add for a real TREAT try a teaspoon of sweetend cond. milk and drizzle on top, OH YUM !!!! Enjoy, its great!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great for a few snow cones at home!
This ice shaver went above and beyond my expectations for a manual low priced shaver! The ice, whether from the included tubs or ice cubes, is shaved very fine - more like a soft snow (although, being ice, it hardens after a few minutes). It is fairly easy to clean - the ice holder and blade can be rinsed off, but the top part (which pushes the ice down) has to be unscrewed so as to not damage the motor (but if you're using regular and not flavored ice you can just leave it to dry). It is not dishwasher safe.

I recommend that you freeze flavored water versus pouring the syrup on after the ice has been shaved - since the ice is shaved very finely, it tends to melt pretty quickly whenever something else is added to it. The added couple of tubs, although small, provide the best mold for ice shaving, and one can fill a regular-size bowl full of shavings (about 2-3 sno cones, depending on the size). You can create a little stockpile of ice molds from the tubs, and make quite a few snow cones for a weekend treat!

Overall, this is an awesome little home shaver, a great value for the price. If you're looking for a small ice shaver to satisfy a snow cone craving that makes excellent ice shavings for a small price, this is your product!

4-0 out of 5 stars Ice Shaver at Christmas
We got the Hamilton Ice Shaver for my parents for Christmas! They loved it! The motor is powerful yet quiet, and it sure beats the hand crank model my parents had before. It is easy to operate, just drop the ice block in the top, close the lid and push the button. It makes great, finely shaved ice with no mess and hardly any work at all. It could not be easier!

4-0 out of 5 stars Snowman Ice Shaver
I bought this machine before any description or reviews were posted and hoped for the best. I was pleasantly surprised in what this machine can do. One trick to this machine though, is to definately freeze the liquid that you want to use in the machine first. Conveniently, this shaver comes with two round freezing containers which fit the shaver compartment exactly. I have tried shaving just plain ice first and then adding liquids, but because this machine generates snow, the snow tends to melt before you get a chance to enjoy it. If you freeze it first, the snow cones last a long time and are much better. All that you have to do is put ice into the shaving compartment and push down on the top. You do not have to push for very long or very hard and the entire ice block will be shaved. If you are looking for a manual snow cone machine, I would highly recommend this one as an inexpensive, reliable candidate.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great little ice shaver!
It's very quick and easy to use! Just plug it in, put the ice in the holder (which has one sharp blade), set the top on it, and press down. It takes less than a minute to make a bowl full of fine-textured ice. The texture is closer to snow than the little ice balls you get with a lot of snow shavers. The molds have lids, so you can stack them in the freezer. It's easy to clean the ice holder and molds, but to clean the top part (which holds the motor) you must remove a bolt and wash the bolt and a metal disc by hand. It's quieter than your average blender crushing ice. I love cold treats, and this is perfect for that-- a bowl of shaved ice with a little fruit juice poured over it is VERY refreshing! ... By marrying a big nonstick electric griddle to a big nonstick covered skillet, this countertop cooking combination offers big versatility to families, college students, and small households with limited kitchen space. Sautéing, frying, stir-frying, deep-frying, simmering, and braising are all within the griddle-and-skillet's reach. At 11-1/2 inches square, the griddle accommodates plenty of pancakes, burgers, and steaks; at 12-1/2 inches square and 2-1/2 inches deep, the skillet holds up to 4 quarts of chili, stew, or soup. (A recipe booklet is included to offer ideas.) Because the skillet heats on top of the griddle, the griddle's temperature control is calibrated for both griddle and skillet. The skillet has stay-cool handles so it can be carried to the table, and both it and its cover are dishwasher-safe. 5-0 out of 5 stars Love my new Hamilton Beach Combination skillet/griddle
I have had my Skillet/Griddle for approximately 6 months and I use it almost everyday. I would recommend this skillet for several reasons. You can stir-fry with almost no oil. It cooks a large roast while you are gone. The top is large enough for soup or chili. The grill makes excellent pancakes. This grill is large enough for a crowd or small enough for when there are just two people at home. I am very pleased with my Hamilton Beach Skillet and I think it is well worth the money.

4-0 out of 5 stars This is a great product!
I love this step savor! It makes cooking easier for me for someone who doesn't have the time to cook. I have tried a few recipes included and they are good as well. I received mine as a gift and I would most certainly buy it for someone else. I'll use it until it breaks!

1-0 out of 5 stars Caution - Unsafe product
I have owned two Hamilton Beach Combination Skillet/Griddles. I returned the first one because the on/off switch malfunctioned and the griddle continued to heat in the 'off' position. I received a replacement Skillet/Griddle and it worked fine for several months but now it does the same thing - the on/off switch does not work. It not only heats in the off position - it gets very hot!
PLEASE NOTE: THE ONLY WAY TO TURN THE SKILLET 'OFF' IS TO UNPLUG IT! In my opinion - these skillets are unsafe and should be recalled.

2-0 out of 5 stars Jack of all trades, master of none.
I was given this skillet as a gift, and I'm glad that I didn't pay for it. While the lower half is passable as a griddle (it heats well, has a nice nonstick surface, and is stable on a countertop), its limited cooking area makes it hard to make more than a few small pancakes or a eggs at a time -- not what you want in an electric griddle (otherwise, you'd use a pan, right?).

As an electric skillet, it's decidedly below average. The removable skillet design slows heating, and it's often difficult to achieve simmering temperatures, even with the lid on. Forget simmering with the lid off, because you'll be waiting all day. As a result, it's a terrible braising device -- it's difficult to brown the food, and hard to maintain a simmer.

I would only recommend this skillet to those who are very limited on kitchen space. Otherwise, for about the same price you can buy both a quality electric skillet, AND an electric griddle.

1-0 out of 5 stars Bad for fried chicken
As a 64 year old man from Virginia, I have been frying chicken for a long time. I have tried this unit twice and it just does not heat up enough for good fried chicken. Used both the liquid oil and the regular Crisco without any success. The exact amount of oil was used according to the instruction manual. It was so bad that I checked the voltage on the circuit that it was plugged into, 120 volts, so that was not the problem.

As a chicken fryer, it gets a 0. ... Read more

Slow cookers are one of the most appreciated kitchen appliances. For a ready-made dinner after work, all the home chef needs to do is put the ingredients in the crock the night before and refrigerate, then in the morning before leaving for work, place the crock in the cooker base and turn the knob on. Succulent roasts or stews are done by dinner time. Decorated with garden-fresh vegetables, this six-quart oval-shaped model holds a 6-pound beef roast, 6-pound chicken, two 3-pound rib packs, or approximately 5 quarts of stew or soup. Wraparound heat ensures food cooks from the sides, not just the bottom. The temperature knob features two cook settings, low and high, and a ‘keep warm’ setting for serving after food is thoroughly cooked. An included latch keeps the lid secured for transporting. The crock removes from the base for use in a microwave or oven, and both the crock and lid are dishwasher-safe. --Ann Bieri ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars My first crock pot!
This is the first crock pot I have ever owned, and I love it! I use it for everything from stews to warming cider on cold winter evenings. It is also handy to use for pot lucks, etc. for hot dishes that are convenient to transport. Clean up is a breeze with the removable, dishwasher safe crock inset. All in all, a great kitchen appliance.

3-0 out of 5 stars There must be a better crockpot out there for the money
I like using my crockpot because I like having dinner ready when I get home, but I wouldn't get this one if I could go back in time because the lid has never fit properly. About a year and a half after I got it, I learned that a vacuum is supposed to be created by the steam, something that can't happen with mine because the lid doesn't fit. Despite that, though, almost everything I've cooked has turned out well as long as there was lots of liquid to start. I DO like the size, shape and the actual crock itself. But the outer portion is almost flimsy and the design is ugly. Also, I think I paid about $10 less at Bed Bath & Beyond.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Crock Pot!
I replaced my old crock pot with this one, and I was amazed at how fast it cooks! There are two features that pleases me very much. One of them is the liner does not stain, and the lid is made of tempered glass so it is very light. Also, the color of the crock pot itself is very appealing and would fit in , in any
kitchen decor. I also love the way my food turns out when I put in in the crock pot overnight on low. The food is always done to perfection, so all I have to do is turn it to "keep warm", and it will stay hot untill my family and I are ready to eat. I would recommend this crockpot to anyone. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Poor quality
I bought this and found a duet cheaper. Thought I would cancel the order and it had gone through immediately. I waited until it got here to check it out against the cheaper one and found that the cheaper one was FAR better quality and had FAR more options. The sides are weak and would not hold up to my use and though the size was 1/2 a quart size larger ( I need larger) I could not see keeping something that flimsy. I kept the Rival duet slowcooker. I have a travel case and a regular pot as well as a duet pot. It has been wonderful! I found it for $35 at Sams.

2-0 out of 5 stars This is not exactly a SLOW cooker
I thought this monster slow cooker would work well with my large family. I have used crockpots for years. Well the problem here is that it cooks too fast. The high setting is like medium high on the stove. The low setting is like almost medium high on the stove. I put five pounds of chicken in at 4 and by 8 I had very done chicken. I put a stew in on low when I left for work. Eight hours later....things were so done that I had mush. Yes I filled it up past the halfway point. Veggies get done without an isssue in this appliance.
I use this slowcooker now like an extra pot off the stove. On high, it will bubble and boil. I use it to put tomorrow's dinner in at five thirty in the evening. By nine that same night, I have a meal for tomorrow. I am just glad I did not give away my old crockpot. Sometimes you need the food to cook SLOWLY. This should be named the Spacious Extra Pot that can cook tons of food quickly. There is nothing slow about this appliance.

4-0 out of 5 stars A hot crockpot
I bought this crockpot after my Rival blew itself up (shorted out) in only a year and I decided I did not want to go Rival again. We are 4 big eaters and I thought this larger size would be all the better for my family. This crock is not for the faint of heart (or novice crockpotter). It cooks very fast and needs to be very full. I used to cook a 5 lb chicken in my old Rival in 8-10 hours, well 8 hours later in the hamilton Beach, I had chicken dust. It was almost comical. I lifted the chicken out of the crockpot and the bones remained. I should say that it still tasted very good - just the texture was very soft. If you're used to cooking in a smaller or Rival brand - you'll have to relearn all your recipes. On the plus side - it really simmers a fullpot of meat sauce or pot roast. No worry of anything being underdone with this baby. Crock pot experts go for it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Too much family, too little time
I love this thing! I love the fact that I can cook two things at one time. It was great for a party I catered, and the large one is great for family suppers. I dropped my last one and shattered it, so since this is also ceramic, set it in a safe spot! The little dishes are also great if you are going to make just a little and I love the fact that the dishes and lid are dishwasher safe!

2-0 out of 5 stars Handle Problem
Cooks well but the handles (plastic) start to crack and wear out very rapidly due to the heat, would not buy another after being scalded when handle broke off and boiling stew went all over, dangerous around kids.

4-0 out of 5 stars Better than we thought
My husband and I received this as a gift. It's just the right size for roasts, cornish hens, etc. This is our first time having a slow cooker, and I like the fact that it has a warm setting--not just high, low and off). It's easy to clean, even with potatoes.

I gave it 4 stars because this is our first slow cooker, and I don't have anything to compare it to. ... Read more

Tortilla, chapati, naan, pita, focaccia, roti, lavash, lefse--all these and about a dozen other flatbreads can be baked neatly in this ingenious countertop appliance while their fillings are either cooking or warming in the appliance's skillet. Not only does the 1,440-watt appliance make flatbreads easy to prepare, a detailed, color-photo, 122-page booklet comes along to provide recipes for both breads and fillings, opening an entire ethnic-cooking universe to novice and expert cooks alike. For ultimate ease, frozen doughs (pizza, crescent rolls, biscuits, cornbread, breadsticks, etc.) can also be used.

The appliance works this way: The lower portion is a nonstick bread press. Preheat the press, place a ball of dough on the removable nonstick paddle, and flatten the dough into a 9-inch round by lowering and locking the press handle. The flatbread then cooks and slides easily off the paddle afterward. Atop the appliance is a built-in, 9-inch, nonstick skillet with a glass lid that can be used to further brown cooked flatbreads, to keep them warm, or to cook or warm fillings. The skillet works like any electric skillet and has three temperature settings: warm; medium for baking thick breads like focaccia; and high for sautéing, stir-frying, and pan-frying foods. For storage, the press handle comes out and fits into a rear slot. --Fred Brack ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars I was hoping for this to work better....
I bought this thinking it would be a great kitchen help...since I have used the roti-maker in the past and it works wonderfully...However with this flat bread maker I have the follwoing issues.....

1. Its too big for my kitchen, the description somehow given didnt make it seem so...occupies too much counter space--I have a small kitchen..
2. The dough doesnot get flattened enough...not thin enough...remains very thick...
3. The machine makes strange sound while cooking the bread and sometimes splits it with a boom...(doesnot cook it well..so the inside is uncooked)
4.And not the least, the included instructions somehow donot explain the process well enough...

I would really appreciate if someone who has found this product a great help give some tips or usage directions they "invented/discovered" and that may probably help me use this effeciently..

2-0 out of 5 stars Not hot enough to cook authentic tortillas - too rubbery
My wife cooks the traditional Mexican food she grew up with at least 5 times a week. We purchased this machine so that she could make tortillas quickly. Unfortunately, the unit does not get hot enough to cook the tortillas properly. The resulting flat bread is rubbery and lacks the proper consistency. By following some of the additional recipes, we made bread suitable for roll-ups or desert wrappings, but it was *impossible* to reproduce traditional tortillas cooked on a hot gridle.

If you are attempting to make a real Mexican tortilla, this is not a substitute for a cast iron gridle.

5-0 out of 5 stars Tortillas~ Waalaaa!
I absolutely LOVE this Hamilton Beach product! I have had it for about 3 months now and make tortillas in it every week. My family loves mexican food! This product comes with a cookbook along with great instructions. The kids even love to join in and help press the tortillas. Another great feature on it is the top part, we use it to saute our fajita meats and onions, or we have even used it to keep the tortillas warm. We live in the country far from town so its press our own tortillas as we need them. Enjoy!

5-0 out of 5 stars Beats the old way...
After a little getting used to this new unit, I found out that this is an excellent tortilla and crepe maker. In about 35 seconds you can have a fresh made flour tortilla ready to go, speaking of which it' time to heat up the unit and make fresh rollups for lunch, really!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great meal center :-)
I really love this new toy my husband found here on amazon. Making the dough is so easy and its great to have freshly made tortillas for fajitas & borritos! The trick is knowing how to make dough from scratch and thoseinstructions are included int he little recipe book. I've made tortillas & foccasia and they came out wonderfully. I found that I like to make 1-2 more dough balls then the respie says so I can fletten them out better. The press makes the funniest noise but I don't mind. Takes a little longer to brown then the directions state, as well the grittle can be a but challenging to clean considering the weight of the appliance -- but well worth the additional effort! The machine is a bit bulkly but I have a large kitchen so its not really a problem for me -- have fun, be creative! ... Read more

Furnished with a large, stoneware crock and two nonstick bowls, this appliance expands the range of cooking options previouslyavailable with conventional slow-cookers. The oval, 6-quart crockprovides 5 quarts of effective cooking capacity, ample for a largechicken, roast beef, or ham--or chili for the soccer team. Eachnonstick bowl provides 7 cups of cooking capacity for side dishes, appetizers, or party dips. The bowls fit inside the cooker with orwithout the crock. Without the crock, cooking is slow. But by placing aquart of water in the crock and inserting the bowls into the crock, cooking speeds up.

High and low settings affect how long it takes for the cooker to heatfood to 200 degrees F. A warming setting holds cooked food at a servingtemperature. Because the crock and bowls lift out of the cooker, theycan be used for serving. The gleaming white crock is particularlyattractive. For convenience, crock, bowls, and glass lid aredishwasher-safe. 4-0 out of 5 stars Made me a decent cook
I've never used a slow-cooker before, but it made me an expert after the first time. I cooked a delicious pot-roast one afternoon and it cleaned up very nicely, too. The removeable crock is very convenient and cooled down relatively quickly after turning it off and removing the food. No scrubbing was necessary and that was what I was most impressed with. Nice clean look and I'm sure I'll make use of the two smaller "dip" trays that were included. Package included a few recipes which is great for a beginner like me!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Slow Cooker & Crock Pot
Just wanted to say I finished making a delicious beef stew with my new slow cooker. It is wonderful. Came in excellent condition all the temperature settings definitely are very different. Our stew was cooked on high for 4 hours and now its on keep warm. I absolutely love the new appliance. Its wonderful to be able to throw a meal together in the morning/afternoon and evening time its done. I don't have to stand over it and watch it. I am making a chili for my dog tomorrow. I love it! I recommend it to everyone.

4-0 out of 5 stars Convenient... but not idiot-proof
While this crock pot isn't as "set and forget" as regular crock pots while using the inserts, the convenience of being able to do two things at once is great. (Consider the spiced / spiked cider combination for a simple example - 2 drinks, 1 pot.)

The regular crock, though, is as simple to use as any crock pot - and your recipe will often determine your results.

Overall - a fine addition to my kitchen.

5-0 out of 5 stars 2 dishes at the same time
This is a great idea. I still use a crockpot cookbook my mother gave me 15 years ago. With my old rival crockpot, in order to get the meat just right, the vegetables and potatoes would overcook. With the Hamilton Beach, the meat turns out great and I put the vegetables in the second dish, later in the cooking cycle. Both come out the way the should. Don't settle for a one purpose unit when you can get the Hamilton Beach.

2-0 out of 5 stars if you'd like a hot water sprinkler...
this crock pot has 3 settings: warm, scalding and blast furnace. warm cooks nothing, scalding evaporates liquids and drys food in less than 2 hrs, and blast furnace should be used in place of kiln. The worst feature / drawback of this not-so-fine unit is the hot water spitting that occurs after 2 or so hours that leaves your countertops wet and messy. I returned this and bought a Rival. Far better - no comparison. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Model on Recall - Very Bad Customer Support
I got this one from a store, and when I went home I found out on the internet that this model was on recall. I called the Canadian number provided on the web-site, and the lady who answered told me the model is not on the Canadian recall list. So I asked if it were different from the US model, and she said it is just not on our list. I was still skeptical, so I went to the Canadian web-site, and sure enough the model number was on there too. So I called customer support again to figure out what is happening. The new representative refused to help me untill I open the box and give her the number at the bottom of the pot. I tried to tell her that I didn't want to open the box but she wouldn't listen. I decided to return it to the store and not buy any thing made by this company again.

1-0 out of 5 stars The Worse Crockpot EVER Made!!!!
After about three (3) uses, the handles on both sides of the crockpot cracked and became unusable. I droped a seven-bone roast in the middle of the floor and burned myself in the process. The only good thing about the "worst crockpot ever made" would have to be the durability of the "pot" itself. That's the only thing that hasn't broken on this ...waste of money!!!

3-0 out of 5 stars To Get 5 Stars, It Would Need To Fetch and Roll Over
I've had this crockpot for about a month, and have used it a half-dozen times. Here's my experience...

What I do like: The keep-warm/low/high heat settings work properly, and the heating element cooks uniformly. The crock can be removed from the unit for easy serving and cleaning. The food is well-cooked and tender. The oval shape is very nice to work with, although it takes up a lot of room on the shelf (my kitchen is quite small).

What I don't like: It is not a particularly attractive design. The construction appears to be pretty flimsy and I'm not confident that this item would stand the test of time, because it seems like it wouldn't take much to break it. The glass lid is very light and doesn't fit securely, resulting in more cooking odors than I care to smell for 8 hours at a time and a significant loss of moisture when cooking. I cooked the exact same recipe two days in a row (one batch to take to a sick friend) and because the lid sits haphazardly one of the batches came out verrry reduced.

I'm glad I saved the packing material because this morning I'm planning to box it up for return, hoping to find a more substantial and satisfactory unit. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Makes Ice Cream as good as the big boys
I dropped my beloved Cuisinart, which costs twice as much, and company was coming, so I picked up this little baby at the local Home Depot for 19.95.

To my delight the operating part (the part that makes the ice cream) works JUST AS GOOD as the Cuisinart and is even slightly easier to clean!

The Cuisinart has more "bells and whistle" - it has electronic controls that do things like time your cycle and play an electronic beep when it's time to add the goodies like nuts or chocolate chips or fruit. This Hamilton Beach models doesn't do that, but for 20 bucks I can add the chocolate chips without the beep!

***ONE WORD OF WARNING ABOUT THE OPERATION***: If you do like I did and ignore the instructions you may be delayed in making your first batch: You HAVE to start the machine, turning the spatula inside the cylinder BEFORE you pour in your ice cream mix - if you DON'T the liquid will freeze in just a few seconds, locking the spatula in place, and when you go to start the machine - it won't.

Both of these models are VERY easy to use, quite easy to clean, not at all messy (remember the old ice cream makers where you had to add your own ice and salt.... and maybe even turn the handle by hand?!) These babies work great: You just put the "bowl" into the freezer overnight (I keep mine there in between uses so it's always ready), then take it out and a quart of your favorite recipe. Once frozen it becomes a quart and a half of good(...) stuff. You may say "Hey!!! I remember those old ice cream makers would make like a gallon of ice cream!!!" All I can say is if you need more than a quart and a half of homemade ice cream at a time you have a more serious Ice Cream Jones than I do!

Definitely worth the money for the homemade ice cream fan! ... Read more
