Ignore the temperature suggestions on the driptray, though. 375 degrees is way too hot for pancakes (which is what I use it the most for) - 350 is perfect for most things. I really do recommend this griddle highly!

Wish it had a timer, like some more expensive ones. But maybe a timer wouldnt really help. Depending on what's in the waffle, it might take a different amount of time to cook. With bananas thrown into the most basic Aunt Jemima mix, I found the waffles required a bit more time. But u cant wait til the steaming stops before removing these banana waffles. I guess the bananas will keep on steaming , long after waffle is already quite golden. Even tho I've experimented a bit, there's nothing about this machine that's gonna fool u much. It stores upright, everything is basically good. The booklet does tell u to start with simple stuff and experiment later. If u have a huge family, maybe u would be better off with an iron that makes 4 at a time. Anyway, overall, I'm quite pleased.
I have been using Bisquick & the waffle recipe from the box with minor modification. I substitute melted butter for the oil & add one teaspoon of Vanilla Extract for flavor enhancement. The box recipe is for 12 standard waffles, I got 8 belgian with a little batter left over. Now I tripple the recipe & store the extra batter in the refrigerator. Allow the batter to come to room temprature before use. Ihop & Denneys eat your heart out. As the stove is not being used, I put a small amount of water on the plates, stack them, place in the microwave for 50 seconds & have hot plate centers with cool rims for handeling, dump the water in sink, wipe & thay are ready for the waffles. ... It's easier to use than you would think. There's a quick pictorial guide on how to use it, but once you put the can under the wheel and slide the button into on position, you know instantly what happens next. Your can gets opened, it actually cuts under the rim so that the main lip of the rim stays with the top and not on the can. This leaves it very smooth and easy to handle. I also like that the cord can be stored inside the device. It's not auto retractable, you have to feed it into the base yourself, but it's not a hassle or anything. This is a good can opener. I guess you could use it with one hand if you were so inclined, but I like to combine actions with both hands. One hand puts the can under the wheel, the other hand slides it to the on position. Then one hand turns it to off position and the other hand pulls the can down.
I highly recommend the Hamilton Beach 76600 Smooth Edge Can Opener. ... Read more

I recommend that you freeze flavored water versus pouring the syrup on after the ice has been shaved - since the ice is shaved very finely, it tends to melt pretty quickly whenever something else is added to it. The added couple of tubs, although small, provide the best mold for ice shaving, and one can fill a regular-size bowl full of shavings (about 2-3 sno cones, depending on the size). You can create a little stockpile of ice molds from the tubs, and make quite a few snow cones for a weekend treat! Overall, this is an awesome little home shaver, a great value for the price. If you're looking for a small ice shaver to satisfy a snow cone craving that makes excellent ice shavings for a small price, this is your product!

As an electric skillet, it's decidedly below average. The removable skillet design slows heating, and it's often difficult to achieve simmering temperatures, even with the lid on. Forget simmering with the lid off, because you'll be waiting all day. As a result, it's a terrible braising device -- it's difficult to brown the food, and hard to maintain a simmer. I would only recommend this skillet to those who are very limited on kitchen space. Otherwise, for about the same price you can buy both a quality electric skillet, AND an electric griddle.

Amazon.com Review The appliance works this way: The lower portion is a nonstick bread press. Preheat the press, place a ball of dough on the removable nonstick paddle, and flatten the dough into a 9-inch round by lowering and locking the press handle. The flatbread then cooks and slides easily off the paddle afterward. Atop the appliance is a built-in, 9-inch, nonstick skillet with a glass lid that can be used to further brown cooked flatbreads, to keep them warm, or to cook or warm fillings. The skillet works like any electric skillet and has three temperature settings: warm; medium for baking thick breads like focaccia; and high for sautéing, stir-frying, and pan-frying foods. For storage, the press handle comes out and fits into a rear slot. --Fred Brack Features Reviews (21)
1. Its too big for my kitchen, the description somehow given didnt make it seem so...occupies too much counter space--I have a small kitchen.. I would really appreciate if someone who has found this product a great help give some tips or usage directions they "invented/discovered" and that may probably help me use this effeciently..
If you are attempting to make a real Mexican tortilla, this is not a substitute for a cast iron gridle.

Amazon.com Review High and low settings affect how long it takes for the cooker to heatfood to 200 degrees F. A warming setting holds cooked food at a servingtemperature. Because the crock and bowls lift out of the cooker, theycan be used for serving. The gleaming white crock is particularlyattractive. For convenience, crock, bowls, and glass lid aredishwasher-safe. The 330-watt cooker measures 17 inches wide, 10 incheshigh, and 12 inches front-to-back. Recipes are included in theinstruction booklet--50 slow-cooking options from pot roast tochocolate-chip bread pudding. --Fred Brack Features Reviews (5)
The regular crock, though, is as simple to use as any crock pot - and your recipe will often determine your results. Overall - a fine addition to my kitchen.

What I do like: The keep-warm/low/high heat settings work properly, and the heating element cooks uniformly. The crock can be removed from the unit for easy serving and cleaning. The food is well-cooked and tender. The oval shape is very nice to work with, although it takes up a lot of room on the shelf (my kitchen is quite small). What I don't like: It is not a particularly attractive design. The construction appears to be pretty flimsy and I'm not confident that this item would stand the test of time, because it seems like it wouldn't take much to break it. The glass lid is very light and doesn't fit securely, resulting in more cooking odors than I care to smell for 8 hours at a time and a significant loss of moisture when cooking. I cooked the exact same recipe two days in a row (one batch to take to a sick friend) and because the lid sits haphazardly one of the batches came out verrry reduced. I'm glad I saved the packing material because this morning I'm planning to box it up for return, hoping to find a more substantial and satisfactory unit. ... Read more

To my delight the operating part (the part that makes the ice cream) works JUST AS GOOD as the Cuisinart and is even slightly easier to clean! The Cuisinart has more "bells and whistle" - it has electronic controls that do things like time your cycle and play an electronic beep when it's time to add the goodies like nuts or chocolate chips or fruit. This Hamilton Beach models doesn't do that, but for 20 bucks I can add the chocolate chips without the beep! ***ONE WORD OF WARNING ABOUT THE OPERATION***: If you do like I did and ignore the instructions you may be delayed in making your first batch: You HAVE to start the machine, turning the spatula inside the cylinder BEFORE you pour in your ice cream mix - if you DON'T the liquid will freeze in just a few seconds, locking the spatula in place, and when you go to start the machine - it won't. Both of these models are VERY easy to use, quite easy to clean, not at all messy (remember the old ice cream makers where you had to add your own ice and salt.... and maybe even turn the handle by hand?!) These babies work great: You just put the "bowl" into the freezer overnight (I keep mine there in between uses so it's always ready), then take it out and a quart of your favorite recipe. Once frozen it becomes a quart and a half of good(...) stuff. You may say "Hey!!! I remember those old ice cream makers would make like a gallon of ice cream!!!" All I can say is if you need more than a quart and a half of homemade ice cream at a time you have a more serious Ice Cream Jones than I do! Definitely worth the money for the homemade ice cream fan! ... Read more
