Amazon.com Review

If you're heading off to college, renting a small studio space, remodeling a kitchen, or just love waffles or grilled cheese, the Meal Maker Belgian waffle baker and sandwich griddle is a great stand-in for a full stovetop. This sandwich toaster not only makes fancy panini-style grilled sandwiches in minutes, but also batter-based items, such as pancakes or omelets, as well as turnovers or French toast. What's more, by switching the grill plates, the appliance becomes a waffle iron, providing even more meal options. The Meal Maker's indicator light turns off when it's ready to cook, and, once a sandwich or batter has been put onto the plates, the cover latches shut to keep batter in place or sandwich edges crimped. The nonstick grilling surfaces wipe clean with a damp sponge or paper towel, or they can be removed and washed by hand or in the dishwasher. The whole appliance can be stored either horizontally or vertically, depending on space limitations. --Julija Gelazis ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A great little appliance
I have two of the Hamilton Beach 26290 Waffle Baker/Sandwich Griddles and use one of them very frequently. It is perfect for one or two people but when the kids are here (they love grilled cheese sandwiches) it is not really big enough. I have no trouble making two sandwiches at a time on each unit and the cleanup is a breeze. The concept of two appliances in one is great for it saves storage space.

2-0 out of 5 stars not good enough
I would have preferred a waffle/toaster that could also grill meat. It takes too long to heat up and cool down to facilitate cleaning.
The cost is a little high for what you get and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
I recall having a toaster similar to that in my youth and it recieved a lot of use, this item won't.

5-0 out of 5 stars Waffles every morning!
The way it cooks, ease of use, and quick cleanup is the reason I give this Hamilton Beach Waffle Maker a five star rating. I've been having waffles for breakfast every morning since the first time I decided to give it a try. I use it for waffles and grilled cheese sandwiches, and I am very pleased with the results. Cleanup is a breeze because the plates pop out for washing. It is especially ideal for a single person on the go.

4-0 out of 5 stars I would recommend this appliance.
I received this waffle iron/sandwich grill for Christmas. While the grill side could be bigger, I can make two full-size sandwiches on it. Maybe we use smaller loaves of bread that other people, but it works for us. It does not, however, have enough grill space to fry pancakes on it. Still, since it is just my husband and I, this appliance is a nice size. It doesn't take up a lot of storage space, and the cord is attached so we don't have to look for it each time. All you do is plug it in and wait for the light to indicate when it's hot enough. The waffle and grill inserts remove easily and wash up well in the dishwasher. If you are cooking for one or two people, this will fit the bill - and it's easy to clean. Go for it!

3-0 out of 5 stars Does 2 jobs, but only half as well
I was thrilled to find the waffle maker/sandwich grill I remember from childhood -- but what a disappointment to discover that the grilling space is barely large enough for 1/2 a normal sized sandwich. The sandwich area is rectangular, measuring roughly 4" x 8". Even a slice of basic Wonder Bread is taller than 4", so unless you cut off the crusts or grill your sandwich already sliced in half this appliance will NOT make an efficient sandwich -- even for one person. My search continues.... it appears Black & Decker may have something that is larger... ... Read more

Place the evening meal in this slow cooker at breakfast time and it will be ready at dinner time--and succulent, too, because set-and-forget slow cooking preserves foods' moisture and flavor. With a 4-1/2-quart capacity, the stoneware crock inside the heating base is big enough for family-size meals; its oval shape accommodates large items, like a 4-pound beef roast or chicken. Heavy, white, and handsome, the crock lifts out of the base for serving, while the base surrounds the crock with heat at two cooking speeds, either of which brings food to 200 degrees F in 6 to 10 hours, and has a keep-warm setting. The handles and control knob stay cool, and the exterior won't burn any fingers, either. This cooker measures 17 by 13 by 10 inches; the cord wraps underneath, and a strap secures the lid for transport or storage. A 32-recipe booklet is also included. --Fred Brack ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great for lazy chefs !
There's really not much to say about a product like this. I have no complaints about it. It's a perfect size! It's easy to clean and you can separate it from the base and toss it in the fridge if you want.
This is a great product especially for days when you don't really want to cook. You can toss something in when you leave for work and have dinner ready when you come home. What more could you ask for.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Crockpot Ever!
I recently purchased this crockpot, because I was tired of ordering take out all the time after a hard day at work. This was the best purchase I have made in a long time! I prepare the meals the night before, turn it on in the morning before I leave, and come home to a delicious home cooked meal every night. The size is perfect for 2 people or a family of 4. I love the cool touch exterior, and clean up is a breeze! What a change from the old Rival Crockpot I owned 25 years ago!! Try it..you'll like it!

3-0 out of 5 stars Cooks Nicely -- Lid Is Cheap
I love this slow cooker except for one problem: I had the cooker for only a month when the handle on the glass lid broke off.

5-0 out of 5 stars Our first slow cooker, we just love it.
Ours came with an insulated carrying case. Very handy for taking meals over to grandma's house. The cookbook that comes with it has some very nice recipes. I think the rubberband thing is a great idea, it keeps the cover on tight while traveling. It is very easy to clean also. I don't know what I'd do without a crockpot now. So many recipes to find on the net as well. For us, this Hamilton Beach crockpot has been wonderful. ... Read more

No special skill is required to effortlessly carve uniform slices, thick or thin, from roasts, ham, turkey, and bread with this powerful 100-watt electric knife, which features anadjustable slicing guide and a no-strain grip. Just grasp the handle, push the trigger, draw the knife in a straight line, and let the two 6-inch, serrated, stainless-steel blades, which saw back and forth at high speed, do the work. The slicing guide can be inserted on either side of the handle, and its saw-toothed prongs can be slid in or out to ensure uniform slices up to about an inch thick. The knife blades slide under a tab on the handle's bottom for safe, compact storage and need to be hand washed in hot, soapy water. --Fred Brack ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Good knife
I have used many Hamilton Beach products and I find them very reputable. Before this we had a toastmaster knife for two months but it was terrible. This hamilton beach is very sharp and powerful, i told all my relatives to get one too and they love theirs. I highly recommend it. It is great on roasts, chickens, turkeys everything.

2-0 out of 5 stars ELECTRIC KNIFE
I have two different electric knives. One is with a straight shaft and the trigger under the front. The Hamilton Beach has a handle over the main shaft with a trigger on top of that handle. I find this considerably more difficult and awkward to use. I love carving with electric knives and recommend its use for turkeys, hams, homemade bread, and other meats.

1-0 out of 5 stars For the price maybe, otherwise Don¿t waste your money!
I purchased this electric knife it described some nice features. Unfortunately it needs a lot of improvement.
First of all the spacer that is included is medium/soft plastic. It does not lock into place so you have to be careful with slicing as it looks like it would shift. I could not get a uniform slice, as the spacer bends outwards while cutting as well.
I carved the following and found it difficult to slice through. I tried to slice turkey breast, honey baked ham, and hard salami with the spacer on and off. The knifes are not sharp enough, or needs more power. The storage for the knives is a good feature, but I personally do not recommend this product.

4-0 out of 5 stars Carving Is Easy With Hamilton Beach Electric Knife!
Like a lot of people, I don't mind baking a Ham or Turkey but when it comes to carving...well that is another story. I always used a traditional carving knife. One of my friends suggested the Easy Slice Electric Knife and now I don't mind carving dinner right in front of people. It is so easy to use! The blades clean up easily and the price can't be beat! ... Read more

Providing five tools in one unit, this electric appliance mounts under a cabinet to place all that utility close at hand. Installation requires just four screws. Foremost among the five tools is a hands-free can opener into which any-size can fits; it shuts off automatically when a can's top is completely sliced off and holds the can in place until released by a lever. Second, a V-shaped jar opener grips standard-size jar tops so they can be opened by twisting. Third, a bottle cap opener lies within easy reach beneath the can opener. Fourth, a knife sharpener is built into the unit's side. Fifth, accompanying the unit are 7-1/2-inch, stainless-steel kitchen shears, which are held by a magnet in a rear slot. The appliance is 8-1/2 inches high by 6-1/4 inches wide by 6-1/2 inches deep and requires another 5 inches of undercabinet depth to mount. --Fred Brack ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars IT'S UNCANNY......
Yep, it's uncanny, extraordianry and incredible the way this compact can opener trots around a can as it cuts. Just attach to the can, and there we go. The lid is removed cleanly and quickly. Then, the Walk 'n Cut turns off automatically.

It opens any size can from a one serving juice can to a 16 oz. can of ravioli, and it has a removable cutting lever which easily lifts off for cleaning (no more dried tomato sauce stuck to your opener!).

The Walk 'n Cut is cordless and rechargeable. Put it on your counter, as it is an attractive implement, or tuck it away in a drawer.

Wish more of my kitchen necessities did the walking for me!

5-0 out of 5 stars It works for lefties.
This little can opener works like a charm for me. I'm left handed and I need a can open that is automatic. Lefties and hand can openers don't get along. Electric has to sit on the counter and I didn't want that either. So I purchased this one hopeing it would do the job. It worked. Being left-handed usually takes time to adapt, I didn't need lessons, it attached right away, and away it went around the can. So instead of looking ackward opening a can, it's now fun to watch the little fella run around the top of the can.

5-0 out of 5 stars Handy to Store & Simple to Use
I purchased this can opener a year ago and deliberately waited to write a review so that I could see how I liked it "in the long haul". I love it! Like one of the other reviewers, I am left-handed. Unless you purchase a left-handed can opener (usually more expensive) a non-electric can opener is hard to use. This one is light and simple to attach. It did take a little getting use to, but once I used it a few times, it's a snap. I love the fact that I can keep it in a drawer. I have a small kitchen and the can opener is not taking up valuable counter space. (It actually doesn't take up much drawer space either.) It holds a charge for a long time. In fact, I think I've only had to charge it three times in a year. Of course, that would depend on how much you use it. I have not yet found a can that it wouldn't open and actually, find it easier to use on big cans than the usual counter can openers. If the can is tall, this little thing just scoots around the rim. If the can is heavy, you don't have to worry about it falling off the can opener. Like most other tools, you just have to use some common sense!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great little gadget
This is a really neat can opener. It is fun to use and the kids like to watch it in action. It is a little tricky to get started. The trick is to hold it completely vertical when starting the initial puncture, then it goes off on its own. I never had any problems like the guy who lacerated his foot. Just be careful to always stand it up on its feet.

5-0 out of 5 stars WoW
This is GREAT. I bought it back in April, charged it up and its been running since. Although I do not use it everyday, but it still sees some action. It opens cans of all shapes and sizes. It just glides around and works effortlessly. The magnet is great also, so it can prevent unneccessary cuts by the lid. I love this product.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love it, but had to learn how to use it.
I have had this can opener for nearly two years now, and I love it. I have given them as gifts to six of my relatives, and they love it too. Admittedly, it takes some practice to learn how to use it properly, but my wife and I mastered it by the third can we opened. We especially like being able to drain small cans as they are being opened. Also, unlike a corded can opener,we are not limited to useing it in one spot. We can use it at the counter, at the table, sink, stove,- where ever we want. Most of the negative reviews seem to have to do with recharging. The first time I tried to recharge it, it din't work. Then I realized I was not pushing the recharge plug far enough into the recharge recptacle on the can opener. Since then, I have had NO TROUBLE WHATSOEVER USEING AND RECHARGING THIS DEVICE. As I said, WE LOVE IT!!!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Good Idea but worthless
I bought the can opener for my mother. She was so happy with it untill she tried to recharge it. It has not worked since. When I called to inquire about repair I was told I had only one place to mail it to and it would cost me more than a new one. Why would I ever want to spend more money on this. I thought I had bought a good gift for my mother who has a problem opening cans. I will get her a manual can opener.

1-0 out of 5 stars STAY WITH YOUR MANUAL CAN OPENER !!
THE UNIT IS EXTREMELY AWKWARD TO USE. IT WOULD BE EASIER IF YOU HAD THREE HANDS. THE OPENER WAS NEVER ABUSED, I WAS THE ONLY USER SINCE MY FAMILY COULD NEVER GET IT TO WORK AND WOULD GO FOR THE MANUAL OPENER INSTEAD. THE ONE USE OF THE OPENER HAD WAS TO OPEN ONE CAN OF DOG FOOD A DAY. I CHARGED THE BATTERY FOR THE INITIAL USE AND ONE MORE RECHARGE. THE BATTERY IS GREAT, IT STILL HAS POWER AFTER THE SECOND CHARGE. THE UNIT CANNOT BE USED ANY MORE BECAUSE THE PLASTIC PIVOT APPARENTLY HAS WORN TO THE POINT THAT I COULD NOT GET THE BLADE INTO THE CAN WITHOUT THE PIVOT POPPING OUT OF THE OPENER'S BODY. I AM PRESENTLY WAITING FOR A GOOD TARGET TO THROW IT AT SINCE IT'S ABOUT THE SIZE OF BASEBALL.

2-0 out of 5 stars 1 charge and then it was gone.....
We were happy with this opener until the 1st time we tried to recharge it. Plugged it into the charger for 8 hours and when we tried to use it the following morning it only made it about 1 inch before giving out. Plugged it into the charger again for another 8-10 hours.....same results.

The good news is customer service was courteous and is going to replace it. I am a little apprehensive about getting the same model although c.s. said they have little trouble with this model.

We'll see about that.......

5-0 out of 5 stars THIS OPENER IS UNCANNY!
Yes, indeed, this Hamillton Beach can opener is uncanny in the strict dictionary definition - "extending to a degree beyond what is expected." It's better than I had anticipated in every way.

This Walk 'n Cut opener is tiny but terrific - it fits your hand nicely or can be tucked into a drawer or a small spot on your shelf. We're now on our 20th can without a need for recharging. When that time comes, it plugs in for overnight recharging.

No more wrestling with elephant size juice cans or trying to manipulate minute shrimp cans, this rascal attaches itself to any can then walks, cuts, and turns off automatically.

Life is good; cooking is easy with the Walk 'n Cut opener. ... Read more
