    Amazon.com Review

This high-speed kettle employs 1,500 watts of electric power tobring 1 cup of cold water to a rolling boil in one minute. With thekettle filled to its 7-cup capacity, a full boil is achieved in fiveminutes. That makes the kettle ideal for instant coffee, tea, hotchocolate, or instant soups. To ensure that the water doesn't boil awayif attention is diverted, the kettle shuts off automatically once thewater reaches full boil. For convenience, it lifts off its corded powerbase for cordless pouring, can be set on the power base in anydirection, and turns on (or off) with a simple push of a button on thehandle. Inside the spout there's a removable and washable antiscalefilter that extends the kettle's life. With an exterior of hard, gleaming plastic, the kettle wipes clean easily. It's pleasingly plump, has water-level windows on both sides and a cord wrap underneath, andcarries a one-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Tea with a twist
Oh my, I have wanted one of these for ages. Europeans have been using them for decades, but couldn't seem to find a modern, user-friendly electric kettle. This is the best; it boils as quickly as the ad suggests. Jug plugs into the base, so you can remove it from base once water is boiled. It switches off automatically (a big plus for those of us who forget that water is boiling on the stove ... mea culpa), and voila, your hot, hot water is ready for your favorite tea. I've started to drink more tea since I purchased it 6 weeks ago. This isn't another kitchen gadget, it is an absolute necessity for the kitchen; it is a life-changing purchase. Yes, okay, I like it. But you can see why, can't you?

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Solid Product
I shopped online for a while to get an electric tea kettle. We were tired of having the old kettle take up one burner of the stove all the time.

We are very pleased with the kettle. Unlike some of the others, it is set up so that you don't have to worry about how you place it on its base. You just fill it, put it down on the base and press a very ergonomic trigger button on the handle. The kettle turns itself off when the water is boiling. All in all, pretty idiot proof. The water boils very quickly--it's much quicker than heating water on the stove.

The only question we have is how the heating element will hold up. The metal element inside the kettle is starting to get some mineral deposits on it, and it's unclear how this will affect the kettle. (Probably all electric kettles have this issue.) Meanwhile we are quite enjoying it.

I also purchased the 4 cup version for my office and that has worked out quite well also. I don't have to make my tea with the water that comes through our crummy old office coffee machine anymore!

5-0 out of 5 stars Love this Kettle!!
I make coffee or tea every day, and this kettle gets some hard use at my house. I love it, the handle stays cool when the water is boiling and it doesn't release that much steam out of the spout. It pours extremely well, it has never dripped. I even use it for cooking as it boils water faster than in a conventional pot on the stove. I highly recommend this kettle!

5-0 out of 5 stars This thing is great.
Finally, a product that does what it's supposed to and does it well! Simple to use, works great, looks nice and only cost $20. Great!

2-0 out of 5 stars Lasted less than one year
I would not recommend the T-Fal kettle. It just stopped working after less than a year. It was only being used a couple of times a day, and treated with care. Waste of money. ... Read more

    Amazon.com Review

Fried chicken, shrimp tempura, jalapeño poppers, homemade doughnuts--it’s a snap to prepare those irresistible palate-pleasers for dinners and parties. When done right, deep frying adds very little oil to foods. This compact deep fryer holds 2.2 pounds of food and 2.2 liters (approximately 9 cups) of oil, more than most fryers its size. For excellent cooking control, the adjustable thermostat slides to any of five fixed positions illustrated with popular deep-fried foods--mushrooms, fish, doughnuts, poultry, and French fries--and any setting in-between. Temperatures range from 302 to 374 degrees Fahrenheit (150 to 190 degrees Celsius), and an electronic timer helps prevent overcooking. An external handle conveniently raises and lowers the wire basket, and the sealed lid locks for safety. Cord storage is found underneath. For added safety, the body of the fryer stays cool during cooking, and the entire unit takes up very little storage space. --Ann Bieri ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars So far, so good
Recently acquired this fryer after getting burned by a Euro Pro model (the Euro Pro stoped working mid way through it's third batch of food). So far, I've been through three batches of chicken wings with the T Fal fryer with good results. Heating is reasonably fast, the capacity is generous. Very nice to have a sealed lid as well... most of the fryer smell stays put (where it should!) in the fryer.

Things I'd like to improve upon:
    Removable bowl for the fryer.

Another indicator to let you know the unit is on. Currently, the only time the light is on is when the unit warms up. After it gets to the set temp, the light goes out.

More robust temperature setting: the slider is fairly loose... could easily get bumped and adjust temp settings without you realizing it.

We'll see how it does over time but am pleased so far.

4-0 out of 5 stars Works pretty well....
I got this deep fryer 2 weeks ago and since then I've made 4 batches of "freedom" fries and one batch of fried chicken - which was actually multiple baskets of 4 breasts and 14 legs. I think its a nice unit and it cooked everything fine - but - the inside of the fryer does NOT come out to clean. The top comes off and, obviously, the basket comes out. But those aren't the important parts... after making the chicken, the oil was very dirty... so I had to carry the whole unit out and dump the oil... then, because the unit can't be submerged in water, I had to put the fryer in an empty sink and wash out the inside of the fryer with a sponge... a few times. Not a show stopper... but, I think it might be worth getting the T-Fal fryer with the removable drum... ... Read more

Nonstick inside and out for easy cleaning, this 9-piece cookware set outfits a kitchen with the basics while permitting healthful, low-fat cooking. The set consists of a 7-1/2-inch sauté pan, a 9-1/4-inch sauté pan, a 10-3/4-inch sauté pan, a 1-quart saucepan with lid, a 2-quart saucepan with lid, and a covered 5-1/3-quart Dutch oven that doubles as a pot for cooking pasta, simmering stock, or making soup. Lids are domed, made of polished stainless steel, and have knobs that adjust to vent steam for controlled cooking. Ergonomic handles made of tough plastic stay cool on the stovetop and are oven-safe to 350 degrees F. They're welded, with no inside rivets to trap food, and have hanging holes. Though inexpensive, the cookware is handsome and stylish, with charcoal gray exteriors and charcoal black interiors. Bottoms resist warping for uniform heating without hot spots. Inside the Dutch oven and pans' bottoms are T-Fal Thermospots that turn solid red when the pan is properly preheated. This cookware carries a lifetime warranty against defects, excluding dishwasher damage. --Fred Brack

5-0 out of 5 stars Great deal for the price!
I recieved this set two years ago as a gift, and have been completely satisfied with nearly every aspect of these pans! Even my boyfriend, who has the ability to burn any food you can think of, has not been able to damage the non-stick coating on these pans. The one main factor that has made the set last so long is that we make sure not to use metal utensils when cooking (you can get cheap, heat resistant utensils from Target for about $2 each which hold up equally as well). We also never put these in the dishwasher, and wash them by hand with a non-scratching sponge.

The only downside to the set is the construction of the lids for the saucepans. They only fit on the saucepans and aren't meant to be placed on the saute pans which may make it hard to make some meals. Also, the handle portion of the lids is detachable, and when the two are reattached the fit is loose. The lid sometimes feels like it may come apart from the handle when I'm using it which is slightly annoying.

While the lids might not be great, the pans are definitely worth owning (especially for the college student!) and at Amazon's price, they are definitely affordable.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good pans, but non-stick wears off
I would agree that these pans are great, ergonomically easy to handle and cook with, but the non-stick surface does not last. This is my second set like this. I bought them again because they work so well, and for my use, held up well. But, now that my husband is cooking with them, they're shredded. So...if you're willing to go easy on them and use NOTHING but plastic utensils, they're a good buy and will last 4-5 years. But if the cook in the family is agressive with metal utensils, this is not the set to get.

2-0 out of 5 stars The lids are terrible
No complaints about the saute or sauce pans, the lid design is terrible. Aside from the fact that the sealing mechanism doesn't seal properly, the whole setup is so flimsy one of my lids is completely unusable. My recommendation, is to avoid this set and look for a set with less fancy and more sturdy lids.

1-0 out of 5 stars Will not last
I've owned two sets of t-fal cookware and both had to be replaced after two years of use. The non stick surface will wear away with regular use. I'm currently looking into investing in cookware that will last a life time, such as cast iron. It may cost more, but over time, will save money because it will not need to be replaced every few years. If you want something that will last, do not buy t-fal.

5-0 out of 5 stars TFal Total Nonstick cookware is excellent!
My husband and I recently got married and we bought the TFal total nonstick cookware, and we are SO happy with it. Absolutely nothing sticks inside, clean up is very easy, and it heats the food much faster than my old teflon coated pots and pans. VERY VERY pleased with this product and I recommend it to anyone who wants good teflon coated products with minimal weight (as compared to those horribly heavy professional cookware sets!!) ... This large, oval electric raclette grill makes it possible for eightpeople to enjoy a festive meal of Swiss-style melted cheese or foodssuch as kabobs, burgers, or fajitas. The grill is a two-level cookingunit with a pre-set thermostat. The 13-1/4-inch-long nonstick top functions as a griddle to fryfood and toast bread. Underneath the top is a heating element thatfunctions as a broiler to melt cheese--or to brown food--placed ineight, wedge-shaped, nonstick trays and slipped onto the base's chrometop. (Traditionally, the cheese is mellow, nutty Swiss raclette, whichis also the name of the meal.) Including its handles, the ruggedplastic base surrounding the chrome top measures 17 inches long. Boththe base and its top wipe clean. The nonstick cooking plate removes forcleaning as easily as the nonstick trays. All this and more isexplained in the instruction/recipe booklet. 5-0 out of 5 stars Raclette Heaven
We visited Germany and while there had the pleasure of eating off the raclette grill. We enjoyed it so much we ate off of it again before leaving. When we arrived back in the states I looked everywhere for this grill. I finally visited amazon.com and found the grill. Upon receiving the grill our son came over while we were using it and wanted one along with a few other friends. This is a great item. I would recommend it to everyone who likes to have fun meals.

5-0 out of 5 stars A good price
I found this while looking for raclette grills to replace my Stöckli 4-person grill, which has been outgrown despite having served us well. This appears to be an excellent buy. Most raclette grills do not have temperature controls since the process is to grill the cheese and then serve it over your cold meats (sopressata, bressaola, coppacola, anchovies) and potatoes (www.raclette-suisse.ch has more recipes for those new to this dish). Raclette has become a pizza substitute for us since my wife is gluten sensitive and there are lots of ways to enjoy raclette. One barrier to the enjoyment of this in the US has been the price, which this grill provides a very good inexpensive grill that is good for parties or large families.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not a true raclette grill
I was very diappointed with this grill. The set does not include any scrapers to scrape out the cheese, or any tongs to help you grill your food on the top grill. I was hoping for more from T-Fal. It's also very compact, which is great for storage, but horrible if 8 of you are trying to use the grill at the same time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Buy!
Like others writing reviews on this raclette grill, I discovered the tradition on my last trip to Germany. I was so happy to find this one at Amazon for the lowest price available.
The best part is that it is manufactured in France. Others on the internet were "manufactured in China, using Swiss technology". The Chinese ones were also triple the price of this T-Fal model.
I am extremely happy with this model, and feel that it would make a great wedding gift as well.
It does not have an adjustable thermostat, but you don't really need one. It also heats up quickly which is nice, and is quite easy to clean.

5-0 out of 5 stars T-Fal Raclette Grill

This Ultraglide iron gets the job done and makes ironing a little less tedious than irons of previous years. The scratch-resistant, non-stick Ultraglide Diffusion soleplate glides smoothly over clothes so ironing goes faster and requires less pressure. Tiny holes in the soleplate disperse steam evenly, making it easier to remove wrinkles. A sliding lever in front of the iron’s handle lets you adjust the amount of steam. For tough wrinkles, a burst of steam button delivers a steady spray of water. A spray nozzle on the front of the iron sends a cool mist directly in front of the area being ironed for further help with wrinkle removal. The 250-milliliter water reservoir is a transparent blue plastic, allowing you to view how much water is left. A slide-out drawer on the iron’s handle speeds up refilling and ensures that water won’t leak out. The iron has a self-cleaning system to help flush out mineral build-up and prolong its life. A 9-foot cord provides plenty of maneuverability without concern about tangles. The soleplate on this iron is covered under a 10-year warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Easy on the eyes, tough on the wrinkles
This is one great looking iron, with a bundle of features designed to make ironing easier, and extend the life of the equipment. The soleplate is eye catchingly attractive, and oh, so smooth to touch (when the iron is off, of course)

The easy fill drawer is a life saver, and the majority of features are within reach of your fingertips while ironing. The instruction manual is sufficiently idiot-proof, but the whole once per month cleaning and descaling exercise seems a bit daunting.

It is slightly heavy, and depending on how you hold the iron, you can press the spray mist button unintentionally, which is a bit of a problem when ironing delicate fabrics.

Otherwise a very good iron for the price. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent job T-Fa!
After my disappointment with Cuisinart's Griddler, I really did my research and found this.It has Good Housekeeping recommendations and the 2 good reviews earlier. It has a lot of the features I am looking for (just like the Cuisinart but without the griddle and more ).My Amazon order arrived today, and it is a very well designed little griller. You can tell T-Fal put in a lot of thoughts designing it and covering all areas. It heats up fast, the grease does not splash and drains well.Though it operates with a different concept and is not as sleek as the Cusinart one,it performs very well and is very sturdy..Cleaning is a breeze, Ijust take it apart and wash it in the Sink (You can also put the top and bottom in the dishwasher.I don't need to do this)When you put them back, just remember to plug the heating elements back infirst and the top lid will lock.I can store the griller standing up too.A very versatile griller and is a keeper and I am happy now.

5-0 out of 5 stars Works well, easy to clean
This grill has a fairly unusual design: instead of having simple removable grill plates it is made of three parts: base, top, and electrical assembly. Both base and top contain a non-stick grill with its heating element and a connector, and are immersible and dishwasher-safe. The electrical assembly contains the thermostat, power cord, and two plugs that go into the base and top connectors.

To disassemble the grill for cleaning, you press the red button on top: a clever mechanism ejects the thermostat and retracts the hinge pins, releasing the top grill. Unplug the bottom grill, and you're ready to go. To reassemble the unit, plug in the base, position the top grill in place and plug in the thermostat.

T-Fal claims the top and bottom parts are immersible and dishwasher-safe. However, they're fairly large so I find it easier and quicker to wash them by hand in the sink.

The heat is well controlled and very uniform: my chicken breasts came out perfect in about 12 minutes, with nice grill marks, well cooked inside, and very moist. There was very little smoke, a nice benefit of this type of grill. The bottom plate gently slopes towards the front (just like in the Foreman grills), so the grease flows into the receptacle by gravity (or onto your countertop if you forgot to install the receptacle).

The only minor gripe I have is about the manual, which is very terse and poorly organized. Not a biggie because this is such a simple device, but still, some things are not completely obvious like how to install the steam guard or which thermostat setting to use with which type of food. Including a few recipes wouldn't hurt, either.

Still, it is extremely well designed, does a stellar job and could not be easier to clean, so it deserves its 5 star rating.

I recently bought this grill to replace another brands model. This one is much easier to clean and does a fantastic job cooking all sorts of foods. The Different cooking modes make it easy to prepare different types of foods with just a quick switch of the machine.I highly recommend this for anybody who is looking for a better easier low fat cooking grill. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Glad I didn't pay MSRP!
When I took the pots out of the box, I was all excited and happy about my shiny new stainless pots. I've used them for about a month now, and so far here are my impressions:

The frying pans are not that bad, they hold the heat real well, and are a beauty to work with. I would have liked a less pronounced curve for the sides, as it's hard to have the food "jump" from the pan when shaking it back and forth.

Like Celeste mentions in another review, I have 2 pots that leak around the handles. I haven't contacted Tefal yet, but am eager to see how the "limited lifetime warranty" will hold up to that, and whether the replacements will have the same problem.

It's a nice stainless set, but the price is not a "bargain" for what it is. I'd say it's worth just that (150$) and nowhere near the MSRP.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellence in Cookware
The professional quality pans are well-made & very heavy. I am using them on my new smoothtop stove and they work wonderfully. They heat evenly & cleanup is a breeze. You don't need the non-stick pans in my opinion. The first thing I fixed was frying sausage & although it looked like it was going to stick, it just turned loose and cooked beautifully! I would highly recommend this set. The best thing about mine is it was free - hubby earned it as a prize at work. He wasn't too thrilled at first, but even he is very pleased & feels it was a nice gift!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best. Will Last Forever!
This is are third set of pans and are first two were Teflon, witch always wares off even with maticulase care. my sister in laws swear by T-Fal but I didn't want pans with plastic handles or Teflon a surface, then I stumbled upon these pots and pans and fell in love so I ordered them.this is a big investment for us, but I hoped since they were T-Fal they would be quality... when I finally got them I was surprised how heavy they are they are truly quality and will last forever I was so happy with my purchased yesterday I ordered the accompany 8 1/2" sauté pan! If you want pots and pans that look good and are a great buy get this set Note: please do not get the Teflon version this cooks just as well and won't wear off!

5-0 out of 5 stars The real skinny on this cookware
I received this cookware for Christmas and I just love it. Acquiring a new ceramic-top stove required that I use flat bottom cookware. So hubby, being a smart guy, bought me this set. If you have never handled or used heavy, professional-gauge cookware, you may want to try something else. However, if you are tired of uneven cooking, sauted foods boiling rather that frying or just weary of replacing cookware every 5-10 years, then this is for you. I have read the previous reviews and must say I have not had any problems with leaks around the rivets. And the heavy bottoms hold a steady, even heat. Plus the stay-cool handles are a blessing--no more blistered palms from grabbing a hot handle. One suggestion though, I do not recommend buying non-stick pans, no matter who makes them. In over 20 years, I have yet to find one that actually holds up to the test of time. (I keep a cheap small pan to make sunny-side up eggs for hubbie.) But with this cookware, you really don't need non-stick. It fries beautifully! The clean-up is a breeze and will withstand scouring, if needed. This cookware will not, however, make a mediocre cook into a culinary institute chef. Only years of practiced cooking or training can do that. But seriously, for the money, this cookware is a good choice. My only regret is that they don't offer extra lids for purchase. Hats off to Oliver and T-Fal. You've got a winner here. And what a joy to find cookware NOT made in China under questionable worker conditions. Regards, Florence Mathews

4-0 out of 5 stars Stainless is the way to go
Having the pots for 4 days, Non stick is sticking, even after an oil seasoning, and has also peeled in 2 spots. My mistake: DO NOT USE TEFLON SAFE VINYL SCRUB PADS! TEFLON COATING IS NOT COVERED under warranty!
Other than that the stainless pans are fantastic! I ordered the larger stainless saute 12 incher (still Jamies') to replace the shabby non stick. All around good heavy pans worth the money.

5-0 out of 5 stars IDEAL Grill!! EASY TO CLEAN!! EASY TO USE!!!
I just received my grill/skillet today... I have only had the occassion to use the grill tonight for dinner. I thought a new review was necessary to be fair to this product.

We used it to make grilled vegetables and thinly sliced meat in a Korean style BBQ (yakiniku). The grill was PERFECT. The meat prepared extremely quickly and everything worked fine.

To be honest, I had some doubts about this product after reading one of the reviews. It talked about the smoke rising as well as the "non-punched metal holes". What smoke?? There was a very thin mist that rose slightly (from the water we used underneath the grill tray). It was very hard to see. And our smoke detector, which literally goes off about 10% of the time, that I use the oven or stove DID NOT go off. (It continuously went off with our previous grill...)

The holes were very well-punched...Actually the holes are probably about centimeter wide (two or three of our bean sprouts fell through, so we placed a small bit of aluminum foil on top of the unit and put the bean sprouts on top.)

Furthermore, the unit does not omit any strange smell. (Maybe
the bad smell was from the bacon and eggs the other rater cooked....)

Our drip pan was useful. A fair amount of fat accumulated there. It was very easy to clean out-- a single swipe of the sponge took care of it.

The surface is completely removable (since the grill/skillet can be changed out), and it can be taken off after use, immersed in water, and lightly scrubbed with a sponge (used one with a soft surface so as not to scratch). Clean up was EXTREMELY EASY!

Furthermore, the manual has easy recipes that are easy to prepare and seem very good. You could make kabobs, baked chicken, fajita meat, grilled fish, etc...

Cooking is quick, and will come in extremely handy after a long day at work...More over the unit can be set in the middle of the table and you can actually sit down and talk with others and enjoy your meal as some things still cook.

No complaints about this product, design fantastic, easy and fun to use. Highest recommendations!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Love this indoor BBQ!
I use this product almost everyday. I have made steak, grilled chicken, fish, cheeseburgers, and porkchops. You never need to use your oven/broiler or stovetop again to make these foods. Grilling on this BBQ is soooo much better! I love the presentation which makes the grill lines on meat just like an outdoor BBQ does. Also, the meat is very tender and juicy. You must remember to put water in the tray, this prevents from smoking and also helps with moisture for your meat. Do the same with your griddle. I also have used the breakfast griddle a bunch of times. The griddle fit about 6 french toasts plus srambled eggs. I also had made pancakes and was a little worried about the sides of the griddle not holding up b/c I had read a review by a customer that said the pancakes had to be poured in the middle of griddle b/c it went passed the sides. This was not true! I use this everyday and recommend this product to anyone who wants delicious food and to BBQ in the privacy of their own home.

1-0 out of 5 stars Highly Dissapponted!!
I received this griddle/grill for Christmas and was so excited....at first. My old grill was made of steel and aluminum and was a total pain to clean. So, I thought this TFAL, with non-stick surface would be the answer to my prayers. I was wrong. Not only did the chicken breasts I was grilling stick to the grill, but the marinade literally burnt onto the surface. After soaking the grill for hours, and with A LOT of elbow grease, I was able to get the darn thing clean. I called TFAL's consumer help line, and they told me that grilling with marinades was not recommmended, and that I should soak the grill in vinegar for a couple of hours to remove the burnt on mess. What is the point of having a non-stick grill if things stick to it? And whoever heard of grilling chicken without some kind of marinade? Save your money and pass up this loser. Mine is going back to Amazon and I will stick (pun intended) to my old grill!

4-0 out of 5 stars Grill cooks great, Griddle needs thermostat.
I bought this primarily for grill to replace my Forman which did not cook certain foods well and was difficult and messy to clean. I was attracted to the compact size and how everything stores easily within the unit - great for small kitches. The ready indicator is just a liquid crystal tag but it is accurate. When bright orange it is hot enought for grilling, and grill it does! The crowning test was a 4 pound London broil which my guests devoured. Amost as good as on the Weber! Unfortunately it doesn't work with the griddle and the control has no temperature markers - just low, medium and high. The instructions don't help here, simply telling you to set to the "desired temperature" which is hard since you don't know what it is. Once you do get it right, however, it cooks pancakes and french toast very evenely - much better than my old griddle that had hot and cold spots.

Despite some weaknesses, the bottom line is the grill does a superb job and that's what I bought it for. So I'm very happy and would not look to another.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Real Winner
This is my new favorite appliance. Aside form the great way it cooks, it is so easy to clean. I recommend this to anyone. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Heavy. Good.
It would appear that Jamie Oliver's professional series pans by t-fal vary wildy in their quality. I bought this particular pot, and it's wonderful. On par with those pricey All-Clad pots, I'd say. It's the best pot I've got in my kitchen right now, and I'm definitely going to buy some more - but be wary of the cheaper "Jamie Oliver Professional Series" pans that only weigh a pound or two - that's ok for the tiny pots and pans, but the bigger ones have to be around 5 or 6 pounds or more to be of decent quality.

Oven-proof, thick, sturdy, well-made. Definitely buy this one. ... Read more

    Amazon.com Review

If a healthy diet without added fat is just what the doctor ordered, then rice, vegetables, eggs, seafood, poultry, and more cooked in this seven-quart steamer fill the prescription. This oval-shaped, 900-watt steamer--more powerful than some other T-Fal models--produces steam quickly and circulates it efficiently through an "ultra-diffusion" pattern of holes.Included with the steamer base are transparent 3- and 4-quart bowls (which can be stacked one way for combined steaming use, or turned the other way to nestle compactly for storage), and a 1-quart rice bowl. The turquoise-tinted bases of the two steam bowls feature integrated egg holders for cooking up to one dozen eggs at a time, and one or both bases can be removed to allow room for larger food, such as a whole chicken.

To operate, fill the tank with fresh water up to the "max" line on the indicator window, position the juice collector and one or both bowls in place, then turn the 60-minute timer dial to the desired length of cooking. An orange light illuminates when steaming begins. When cooking is finished, the beeper sounds and the light and steamer turn off automatically. During cooking, additional water can be added easily through a swing-out fill drawer. An illustrated instruction booklet shows versatile steaming options and provides a time-table for different foods. The steamer measures 13 by 9-1/2 by 13-1/2 inches when assembled, and is covered by a one-year warranty. All parts except the power base can be cleaned in the dishwasher. --Ann Bieri ... Read more

    Amazon.com Review

One of the healthiest and fastest ways to prepare meals, pressure cooking literally locks in flavors and makes meats and vegetables more tender and flavorful. Plus, for those who are always in a time crunch at dinnertime, pressure cooker meals are usually done in one pot (quicker cleanup) and cook three times faster than stovetop methods. T-Fal's 8-quart stainless-steel cooker has a triple-layer Diffusal base for even heat distribution, and the cooker works on all heating sources, including induction. When the handle is secured in place, an indicator pin shows that the lid is locked and cannot be opened until the pressure is reduced. Three separate safety mechanisms ensure that the cooker won't rise in pressure unless the lid is securely locked. A pressure regulator dial on top of the cooker has a pressure release valve to let off steam when your dish is done. The dial also allows for two pressure settings--a low setting for more delicate foods such as salmon or spiced pears and a high setting for meat dishes such as chile con carne or chicken stew. Included with the pressure cooker is a steam basket and trivet for vegetables. This cooker is covered by a limited lifetime warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Poor quality control = dangerous, unreliable product
I bought one of these locally yesterday. It was on sale. No wonder. On first use, with just water, it never came up to pressure. When I tried to adjust it according to the instructions, the pressure regulator came off. The handles are too short anyway, keep oven mitts on when opening it, hot steam WILL come out at you. The interior is not polished well either.

I would have been a slightly unhappy customer even if it worked as planned. As it is, the cookier is going back today. I wouldn't recommend using this in any kitchen, especially one with kids around.

From reading the other reviews, I think when it works, it works fine. However, there are alternative brands (such as the market leader, Presto) with much better quality control and similar pricing so I can't see taking any risk.

The best parts: it did come with a nice interior steamer pan. And the outside is nicely polished. The included cookbook was good too, well printed and in several languages.

This was a tough review to write, I can't understand how such a famous company fell to such a low level of quality control. I do not think I'd buy their brand again. This pot scared me a bit and I've used pressure cookers a long time.

1-0 out of 5 stars Damaged due to bad packing!
The box of the one I recieved was so badly damaged I refused the delivery without even opening the box. Second one sent out was either the first one's evil twin, or was similarly damaged due to lack of care by postal service, or the packing was simply not sturdy enough to protect the product. A pressure cooker is very touchy, and must be carefully shipped or it will not perform correctly, or safely. I have always had a pressure cooker, was very disapointed that this one was unavailable in one piece...

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy to Clean
Easy to clean is why I bought this pressure cooker. The bottom can go in the dishwasher, but the top needs hand washing. The gasket is held in by a single pin, so it pops out trivially for washing. The pressure gauge comes out with a push and a twist.

I really miss my old cooker. It had a weight, and no locking mechanisem, so I could wash the lid in the dishwasher too. It also made the cool sound that brings back memories of food. This new pressure cooker sounds like a blown radiator, which isn't appetizing at all. It is safer though, since I can't easily open the lid while it is pressurized.

I have cooked exactly one dish so far, but I plan to cook more. I made himilayan red rice in about 30 minutes. In a normal pan it would have taken over an hour. I definitely overcooked my rice, so it could have been ready much sooner.

Probably the best feature is the base. It works on an induction element! Plus this is stainless steel, so it is durable and shiny.

1-0 out of 5 stars Gasket odor is horrible
I bought this pressure cooker and cleaned it as specified in the
manual. Anything I put into it tasted like it had been soaking
in an old tire (chemical, rubbery), even water I boiled in it.
I tried cleaning it in the dishwasher, with vinegar, finally I soaked the whole thing in lye for 2 yours, and water still comes
out smelling like an old tire.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT, the rubber gasket smells terrible, and
    they don't make a non-reactive gasket.

5-0 out of 5 stars Updated!
I have been using a pressure cooker for over 30 years when my children gifted me this T Fal. While my old cooker is still servicable, I am really delighted with this new one. I feel it is much safer than the old pressure cooker that rocks its top. This is nice and big and a breeze to turn out delicious recipes. A nice plus is that it is so easy to clean! ... Read more
