4-0 out of 5 stars Noisy but works fine...
After using a friend's Oster/Sunbeam breadmaker for a couple of months, I got hooked on the idea of making my own bread. Since I didn't need a full-size 2lb. model, I decided to try this 1.5lb unit. What appealed to me at first was the compact footprint and the oversized viewing window.

The burn-off issue described here and elsewhere on the web is pretty accurate. My package included a correction sheet for the manual that clarifies that the pan should be in the machine when you run it dry the first time. This may explain why some people reported that the dome window was melting. Anyhow, I ran the machine outside with a bit of water in the pan and that worked out fine.

After that, it was time to try my first white bread. The machine is pretty noisy compared to the Sunbeam model I'd first used. Unless your bedroom is far enough from the kitchen, you will hear this sucker if you decide to use the delay timer for morning fresh bread.

The first loaf I made was a failure since Fleischmann's active dry yeast (unlike others) is not suitable for bread machines. The granules are different sizes and do not dissolve fast enough. So I bought instant yeast which has very small granules which should have done the trick...but it looks like it was old! I had to use double the amount to get the bread to rise to a decent height. Anyhow, now I buy yeast in large vacuum packs. It is very reliable, last forever and is labeled "instant" or "quick" yeast.

So far, I've made over a dozen breads, mostly whole grain or variations of "healthy" breads. For a small family or couples, this unit is a great value. I've used stone-milled and unbleached wheat with success, although I never add the egg that almost every recipe in the book uses. Pizza dough recipe was good, but I cut down the sugar and yeast to get a thinner crust. If you like it doughy, follow the recipe as stated.

The only caveat is the crust colour control...never set it higher than LIGHT. On my machine at least, the MEDIUM setting caused the sides to almost burn...and I've never tried the DARK setting because of this.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awsome!
I have had this machine for about a month, and have made seven or 8 loves in it. All I can say is that to it makes incredible bread. Perfect horizontal loves in three hours. My only complaint is that the initial burn off, and the first loaf of bread - made an intense plastics smell while cooking. This ceased to to be a problem after the second loaf. Otherwise, a truly wonderful machine. I highly recommend it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just got one of these
After reading a recent review of bread machines which stated that they basically all function the same, I purchased one of these at a local department store. It is out of the box and almost done baking its first loaf (3 hrs). So far, no complaints other than the noise (its louder than I expected, but for $40 can't complain). My friend, who has a 'fancier' (and much more expensive) brand of machine, is very intrigued with this little guy. I look forward to trying out its first loaf of bread tonight and proving that $$$ don't necessarily buy you a better loaf of bread. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars disappointed
No preheat required. This was the reason I decided on this toaster oven. Fired the unit up at home before I brought it into work. Turned her on and whammo instant heat. I was looking forward to using it the following day. Stayed out late last night too many drinks - not used to that any more. So my plans of cooking a salmon steak turned into a corn dog. Put the dog in the oven that is when I noticed there is no temperature control. There are presets for bakery, potato, broil, etc. But no way to adjust like a regular temperatur control. Four minutes later my dog is black. Will look at directions when I get home - probably return tonight.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Alternative
I agree with the bill sheppard. This does seem like a great alternative to the panasonic version of this toaster. I like the looks of the toastmaster I went with it. I wonder if toastmaster benchmarked panasonic and tried to improve upon the panasonic. Quality is good and it does address the shortcomings people have with the panasonic. Ive had it for a few weeks now and it has done a great job with toast and pizza. Both evenly cooked and faster then a traditional toaster. The lack of a temperature adjustment works out just fine. The temp settings are predetermined for the type of food you are cooking. You just have to adjust the time. I hope the long term reliability of this unit is as good as my first impressions.

5-0 out of 5 stars First impression: looks great!
After getting a kitchen remodel, my wife determined that my old beloved under-cabinet toaster oven had to go, as it just couldn't keep up with the shiny new granite and stainless steel appliances! So I set off to find a new toaster oven and found people absolutely raving about the Panasonic NB-G100P FlashXpress, which cooks by light instead of coils. I didn't care for the look of it, but people have raved so much that I purchased one. Before I had unpacked it I saw the Toastmaster "Lightwave" TLWTOB6, which appears to be brand new and uses the same technology, but looks much nicer, and is about twenty dollars less expensive. I've since put the Toastmaster to use, and assuming I like it will return the Panasonic unopened.

So far I've only cooked toast, but it does a great job - perfectly even. I like the interface - it has a "cool blue" LCD (which is always lit) with a list of the different pre-programmed settings such as toast, broil, defrost, casserole, potato, etc. There is a dial which is used to select desired time, or the brown level for toast. It does not allow selection of temperature at all, however - for all cooking levels except for toast, it uses a timer which defaults to an appropriate setting and can be increased or lowered as desired. This will take some getting used to, but seems reasonable. The cooking light cycles on and off while the oven is in use, and then the oven beeps when finished.

This toaster oven seems to address most of the shortcomings people have noted about the Panasonic. It is larger (and does require moderately more counter space side-to-side), but can hold six slices of toast. It does top brown. The light is not blindingly-bright, as the window is tinted with a fine mesh of black dots but you can clearly see what is being cooked. The wire rack is very solid, as are the other accessories. I can't yet speak for whether the oven heats evenly throughout the interior, but my toast was even front-to-back.

I'll update my review if I find anything I'm unhappy with, but at this point the Lightwave looks like a great alternative to the Panasonic.

1-0 out of 5 stars Very Disappointed
I have always bought those cheap little ovens that would last for about 6-8 months, so I decided to spend more and get a good quality one.

Well, this was a surprise! I turned on the oven, it worked 5 minutes and then quit.

    Very disappointed. ... Read more

With a .9-cubic-foot interior, this big countertop convectionoven has room for a 10-pound turkey, a large roast beef, or two loavesof bread. 1-0 out of 5 stars Too Noisy and Vibrates!
The only thing this stove has going for it is its looks. When it starts to heat up it begins to make noise and vibrates. The noise is so loud that if someone is whispering next to you, you might barely hear them. The noise and vibration, I assume, is coming from the stamped fan. In fact, it vibrated so much the inside pan scraped away clean the teflon coating where it slides in and out of the oven after only a couple of hours use!

I talked to customer support at Salton and they told me its suppose to make noise to show you it's working. Of course, I didn't buy that!

The timer was off by 5 minutes. I don't know if this was done intentionally or not to allow for warm up. (It needs 10 minutes), thus the 5 minute would be the "sweet" spot. None of this is mentioned in the manual, of course. So, it could just be a lousy timer.

The construction of the stove was put together well, but its cookie-cutter stamped construction was obvious all over! In fact, it arrived with the oven door mounted crooked. I simply lifted up the door and with a little up-twist realigned it by "eyeing" it up and amazingly it stayed aligned after that!

Cooking: it cooked a sweet potato very nice. Frozen pizzas and TV dinners didn't fare too well. After following cooking intructions on the boxes, they came out only warm and not piping hot. It looks like the fan in the oven blows very hard and actually helps cool the cooking!!! This is not a true convection with a third heating element inside. It's just a stamped fan circulating hot air around to the inside of the oven.

The other reviews didn't mention the noise. Unless this was a defective unit, I would take the other reviews with a grain of salt.

UP LINE: Handsome, clean, stainless steel looks.
BOTTOM LINE: Too noisy, timer is off, ineffective convection.

5-0 out of 5 stars I don't use regular oven much.
I have used this oven pretty extensively over last year and a half, to the point that I am not using regural oven much anymore. It has taken over most of my cooking duties that are not served by microwave. Unlike some other people who had reviewed it, I have not experienced any mechanical problems. Oven is pretty easy to clean too.

For what I need it, the oven cooks pretty well. The food comes out well cooked, usually in less time than is recommended by the recipe. I wish it was a little bigger, like my previous convection oven from Sharp, but then it is only about $100 whereas the old one was about $300. I don't think I can get another oven in this price range that could be used for nearly the same variety of dishes as this one.

My parents own one of these as well and use it extensively too. They used to own a previous generation of this oven and when it finally broke after a long time, they got this one. And from what they tell me, they are pretty happy with it, so when this oven breaks, they are probably going to get another one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Daily kitchen workhorse
I have an older version of this oven. I've used mine daily for over seven years, for everything from chocolate chip cookies to our Thanksgiving turkey. I haven't used my main oven in years.

It's large enough to accomodate a standard cookie sheet, but just barely, so you have to make sure the "handles" on the side of the sheet don't project out too far. It's better to use a smaller pan, so the fan-driven air can circulate freely.

On the down side, the oven exterior does get quite warm, and it can take a while to preheat (about 15-20 minutes to 400 degrees).

It's difficult for me to call out the features of an item that works so well and reliably that I've come to take it for granted. I'd have a hard time adjusting to cooking without it.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is Terriffic Quaity Timesaver
I've had mine for 6 months now and I think it's a terriffic product. No, it hasn't blown up, disintigrated or failed in any way. It works just like I thought it would. I have it in a home I lease in Florida where I'm usually cooking regularly for a small number of people. Using my full-sized oven does no better job, is much slower and very energy wasteful compared to using this little gem.

The sides do get hot like any spacesaving device does. I imagine you could pay more for an insulated one that would be a super caddy.... but, why? This works just fine.

I thought the final fit/finish wasn't of superior craftmanship but for the price, this large size convection oven has no peer.

I would recommend it to those on a budget or for those Scotch at heart like me.

Thanks toastmaster for a fine quality made oven that fit my budget.... cooks as advertised.... is free from defects.... and is an attractive addition to my kitchen.

Oh, I only wish it came with a cooking basket for frech-fries and veggies etc. This would be a handy addion or accessory that I've been searching for on the net.... but, have not been able to find one.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice gift
I selected this item as a company-supplied gift. It was in an online employee catalog.

I'm very happy with it so far. Hey. Free is always better then cheap! (This is not cheap, however). Anyway, it works great and looks great. It's pretty easy to clean too.

Note I use it casually (1-2 times/week). Nice extra heat source. The oven is big enough to help create an extra dish when the kitchen oven and the microwave/convection oven are full for when you have company.

I use it mostly for frozen pizzas and reheating roasted or baked foods. Convection heat is much more desirable than microwave heat for reheating roasted foods like meat and poultry.

Yes. You must expect the surface of a steel oven, especially a toaster oven, to get hot. Otherwise don't get or use one.

I keep mine on a cart in my home office out of the way of toddler's hands. One time, I got creative and used the oven to fire up some left over slices from the St. Pat's day corn beef feast! Nice aroma. Tasty juices came to the surface. Nice ConCall lunch. ...I added a touch of horse radish sauce to the result, and it was a nice surpise. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Good little Burner
I bought one of these in 2001 and it broke in 2002 but I still consider worthy of another try. It is a compact and good little burner. It wont set any records in heating up times, takes about 10 minutes to boil but it gets the job done.

5-0 out of 5 stars Works great for me
I liked the single burner version of this so much that I bought the double burner. I used the single burner as an adjunct to my gas stovetop. It worked consistently well with regular use for the last two and a half years. (It still works fine!) I've had the double version for six months and it is still working like a charm. The range of heat choices is particularly nice. Once you know what works with a particular dish, it becomes pretty foolproof.

It's nice for family gatherings where cook space is limited. Also, the lowest settings are great for buffets.

I was drawn to the design, and it doesn't disappoint. It's very streamline, with smooth cook surfaces unlike the older models with the electric coil exposed.

4-0 out of 5 stars Working for over 2 years
I have had this unit for over 2 years and everything still works just as good as the day I bought it. I use it as my only stove almost daily as I live in a basement apartment. The only problem I have with it is that it takes a while to heat to the point of boiling but once there it stays hot.

1-0 out of 5 stars Large Burner Failed
Large burner failed after about 12 months use. I opened it up the wire between the plug and the resistor had burned. Not only is it broken, it is a fire hazard. I lost all the paperwork that came with it and I probably voided the warranty by opening it. I think I can fix it but I am not going to risk a fire, so I will try another brand.

1-0 out of 5 stars Very disappointed
But by the looks of the other reviews here, I guess I did better than most. It took mine 11 months to break. Worked great (slow to heat up, but that's okay), until yesterday when it started to smell and then smoke came pouring out. After reading other comments I can see it's not worth trying to get it fixed. Now I'll need to buy another hotplate, but it definitely won't be a Toastmaster. I will never buy a Toastmaster product again. For the $40 I paid, it should have lasted a lot longer than 11 months. Don't waste your money. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Ten cups worth of simple grinding
We spend mornings together. Evenings are better spent separately, but mornings are when our friendship is the most piqued and perky. At about 6:00 a.m. I awake all haggard and gravel-voiced, not seeing any clear reasons for daylight. My view and the sun both lift more quickly when this coffee grinder is at work.

I like coffee fresh, and carefully prepare it from freezing my beans to using only the heaviest cream and clover honey to sweeten the taste. To have the flavor I prefer most, I grind each pot's beans. Of all the options, the Toastmaster Coffee Grinder is all I need.

When it whirs, it purrs, happy to help me through the day's waking labor. I treat it well, never abusing it with harsh cleansers or hot water.

I have made ten cups of coffee ground from this device. That is probably the limit of the grinding bowl.

I never ask much of this one-speed friend. It turns on when I press the button. It turns off when I release the button. How fine a grind is based on how long it grinds. I only make one kind of coffee, so additional settings are not necessary. It wipes clean with a dry paper towel. Most of you only use a simple brewer, and will be happy with this grinder. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars A good 2-3 month investment
After reading some of the reviews for this I was skeptical, but knowing that you always hear more complaints than praise, thought I'd give it a shot. I'm a college student and was looking for an easy, inexpensive way to cook in my dorm. And for the most part, this was perfect.

It's nice and small, so storage wasn't a problem. The first couple times you use it, there's a weird smell like something's burning, but I'll assume that's normal. It doesn't heat very quickly, but once it's heated it takes a while to cool back down. Having it on high then turning down to low doesn't have much of an affect, at least not for a few minutes. But if you're just boiling pasta or heating soup, it's all good. The entire thing gets really hot when cooking, so it has to sit a good 30 minutes or so before you can deal with it again.

But this morning it stopped working. I've had it for about 2 1/2 months, and it worked perfectly up until now. I used it about 2 to 4 times a week. I haven't dunked it in water or anything, it just won't turn on. I just wish it hadn't died right before finals.

All that said, was it worth the investment? Sure. But that's up to you. If you need something for a couple months, this is absolutely perfect, but if you're looking for a long term investment, look elsewhere, or just buy one every few months.

2-0 out of 5 stars poor quality, danger of shock or electrical fire
The Toastmaster 6431 does not have an Underwriters Lab label, which would make anyone hesitate before buying it. The Underwriters Lab endorsement (a "UL" logo) indicates that the electrical product is properly designed and constructed so that it is safe. We found the product online, where there was no info about the UL status of the product.
The first thing that broke was the temperature control. We fixed that by oiling the screw whose in-out motion controls the heat setting.
The more serious problems emerged when the fuse blew. We looked inside and discovered overheated wires with partially-melted insulation. This condition could cause both an electrical shock to the user and an electrical fire that could burn down a house.
Toastmaster makes another hot plate (model TTS1) which does have an Underwriters Lab endorsement. We bought one today, and we hope that it will work safely until after the end of our kitchen remodelling project.

2-0 out of 5 stars Just why does it burn out??
I've loved my little hotplate for 3 months, but it died. Froze the temp control at the time of death. Up until then I was very happy except for trying to boil large pots... never got there, and on frozen stirfry it has a hard time coming back after you add the frozen veggies... but ALL of the reviews are accurate, the high ratings just haven't used it enough times for it to burn out.. looks like anywhere from 50 to 100 uses, depending on how often you turn it all the way up. Highly recommended for a temporary use while on vacation or broken stove... now to try to get some warranty help!

1-0 out of 5 stars Foul Smell
I've had this burner for two months, now. The smell it emits is really bothersome. It's sort of a burning chemical smell. It really never got better with use, although it got a little bit better. But it is still a strong smell which is unacceptable.

The burner takes a long time to heat up. It takes about twenty minutes just to boil water in a 3 qt. saucepan.

On the plus side, it is a good looking burner. The new rubber top with concentric rings is something I've never seen before. Cleanup is easy.

If I could do it all over again, I would never buy this. I thought I was buying one of those solid cooktops that is metallic. Instead, there is this rubber type surface which emits a chemical smell on every use.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice for a dorm
My roommate and I have had this burner for about a month, and we love it. It's a great item to add to our dorm contraband, since technically, we probably are not supposed to have it here. It cooks well, even though as someone else pointed out, it takes a while to heat up. It also has a funny smell sometimes, but that might be normal. It's a great size and fits really well under my bed. I consider it a necessity for my life, because one simply cannot live on college food! In fact, we call one of our dining options, Buckeye Express, "Buck Yuck". It's great to be able to have more food options, as well as healthier food options. ... Read more

Keep your burners free and your eggs from overcooking with this countertop egg cooker. The cooker poaches up to four large eggs and soft-boils or hard-boils up to seven at a time. A built-in timer adjusts automatically to soft or hard settings and buzzes loudly enough to draw you in from the garden when the eggs are done. Soft-boiled eggs come out with a perfectly half-cooked center, while the white is cooked solid. Omelets come out in little serving-sized shapes and transfer to the plate without a mess. This cooker cleans up easily, but don't immerse it in water. --Shannon Borg ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Nowhere near what I'd hoped for
I bought this as a gift for my wife, since she likes eggs and they're not so quick to cook the "old-fashioned" way. We've used it a few times, and found it doesn't really live up to our expectations.

The idea seems like a good one: the unit heats a small amount of water and uses the steam to cook eggs under a sealed lid. In theory that might make cooking faster and more efficient, but this may be marginally true (it takes 18 minutes to hard-boil 6 eggs). While the cooker does do its job, to my mind the alarm it uses is enough of a reason not to recommend it. It produces the worst "all done" noise I've ever heard from an appliance -- a very loud alarm buzzer that sounds like it should be in a fire alarm. I wish it could have been designed to simply turn itself off when it was done.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Item You Never Thought You Needed
My mother thought I was insane when I bought this item. I had never successfully boiled an egg until I got it. My eggs would explode in the pan or never cook fully.

This appliance cooks PERFECT boiled eggs every time-- no green rimmed yolks, no broken/exploded eggs, no continual checking, and easy to peel. Yolks are nicely centered. Perfect for making deviled eggs.

It's easy to use and clean. I have never tried the poached eggs, so I cannot comment on its functionality in that area.

Let your friends (and mother) laugh. Buy this product and make perfect eggs everytime with no effort!

Oh-- it's kind of cute, too.

5-0 out of 5 stars EGGtraordinary Performer - - Very compact
Despite the negative reviews posted, I ordered this egg cooker. This little gem is great, and performs just as described (if you read the instructions first). Use this once and you'll find any measuring references you made need in the future are as easy as looking at the embosed pictures on the water beaker. As far as not having all sorts of adjustments, who needs them ? Your just cooking an egg! An On and off switch is fine with me. I suppose the manufacturer could have added a bunch of extras, but all this would do is increase the price, and increase the odds of having a part fail. The buzzer sounds loud enough to let you know to tend to your heat producing, electric appliance. Obviously the manufacturer placed it's concern for my safety before my comfort level with the buzzers sound level, a much appreciated feature. If this buzzer upsets you to the point of nervous shaking,(as a few reviewers reported), I think you may need something more than a hard boiled egg, lol. I was surprised with all the gripes, that no one complained that it didn't peel the egg for them. The Egghead is very compact, truly an appliance that won't gobble up your precious counter space. Its round shape is about the size of cantaloupe melon and rests on three small feet that keep it very steady. It's attached power cord is a generous 36 inches long. As for the under twenty dollar price that Amazon sells this for, how can you go wrong? Go ahead and order one, it's unique, convenient, and fun.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect eggs every time...
Oh, this toastmaster egg cooker works great.. Easy clean up... I read the reviews and everyone say it has a loud buzzer... Well, mine is not loud... It does not startle me.... no way does the buzzer compare to a fire alarm... If you want perfect eggs, I suggest you buy this item... you won't be sorry....

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Perfect Eggs on First Try
Egg head is fantastic! On my first try, my eggs were the most perfectly boiled eggs I've ever seen. No cracking or discolored green yolks. It's easy. As far as it not turning itself off, I would think the eggs would continue to cook. That's why you run them under water, to stop the cooking process, not just to cool them for peeling! I've read some complaints about the poached eggs being shaped like eyes. I think it's a pretty cool shape. The buzzer is loud, but I found that useful too. I love mine and hope it lasts well. I would buy this for anyone who loves boiled eggs without the hassel. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars AWFUL
I agree with everything other reviewers have said about this machine. It is loud, doesn't pop much popcorn, and shoots out hot kernals and the popcorn it does pop everywhere. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS! Like the others, I wish I could give it zero stars. It should be recalled by the company. I would recommend looking at the West Bend Stir Crazy 6-quart Popcorn Popper instead.

2-0 out of 5 stars Inferior product
I just returned this product to the store, after a month of use. It only popped about 40% of the kernels, leaving great numbers of the unpopped kernels in the collection bowl as well as on the floor. If I did not want to waste 60% of the kernels, I had to collect all the unpopped ones after the first round was over and then put them in again.

1-0 out of 5 stars Wear long sleeve shirt!!!
I wore a polo shirt while making my first batch. As noted by all those potential zero star reviews, my machine started to throw popcorn, popped and unpopped, everywhere. One extremly hot kernal shot up my elbow and gave me a severe burn. It took two weeks to heal! I reread the instructions and made another batch...from a safe distance away. Failed again! I no longer own this unit.

I've decided to take another chance on a hot air popper and bought the Presto PopLite Hot Air Popper. SUCCESS!!! I can pop corn without the need for OSHA approved uniform.

1-0 out of 5 stars Horrible popping machine from hell
At first I thought I was using this thing wrong, or maybe I bought bad kernels, but after reading the other reviews I realize this thing is just a piece of junk. It popped only half my kernels (if that) while shooting everything out at high speeds. I tried holding a paper towel over the exit chute like a matador facing off against a charging bull, but to no use. Those hot kernels come shooting out like bullets. Whatever popcorn winds up in your bowl gets blasted out creating a huge mess.

Also, the popped corn is chewy and disgusting. Are there any popcorn makers that create real movie theatre popcorn without the huge mess?

1-0 out of 5 stars Pops half the corn you put in and makes a huge mess
You will laugh in your kitchen watching in disbelief as this "popcorn popper" attempts to do its job.

This is the only air popper sold at Target so I bought it, even after reading these reviews, not believing how impossibly inadequate the product would end up being. It should be taken off the market. I am going back to Target for a refund. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Sharp looking, and best performing toaster I every owned
Works great! defrost feature is great. Toast fast and never burns. And the slide out cleanout tray is great - I actually clean my toaster now!

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't fall for the nostalgia
For a 75th anniversary production piece, Toastmaster ought to find another line of work than producing toasters. Haven't thought much of this company for a number of years, but fell for the retro look, thinking it might also mean retro quality. Nice exterior. Too bad nice styling was married to lousy performance. Never tasted doughy toast before this experience--essentially browned on the outside and raw on the inside. Too, today, it's an easy matter for all toasters to include a "lift" feature that raises toast an extra fraction of an inch for those smaller than normal slices that don't extend beyond the top of the toaster when done. There's no reason to have to dig into the toaster to bring up the slices. Most toasters today don't hold a candle to their forerunners of the the pre-cheesy eras of the 50s and before. This model from Toastmaster looks beautiful, but if you're interested in more than decoration, buy another product.

5-0 out of 5 stars The latest in Toaster Technology, in a classy design
While toasters are definitely low-tech items, this toaster has as many improvements as you can get without a computer chip. The 1950s diner design was what caught my eye, and its "cool steel" prevents you from burning yourself. The slots are wide enough for your average bagel, and you can defrost those toaster pastries if you don't want them fully toasted.

I recommend this for those looking to upgrade this ubiquitous kitchen fixture.

    4-0 out of 5 stars It toasts...really!
OK, if you're reading this, you're probably already thinking, "Why is it so hard to find a toaster that...well...toasts?" And no matter how much, or how little, you spend, this "simple" appliance keeps missing the mark *by that much*? Well, buy this toaster! It looks cool (unlike some of the other weirdly-shaped, overly-techie versions out there); it is easy to de-crumb (without it divesting itself of the crumbs all over the counter); and, *most importantly* it toasts: any thickness of bread product, to any degree of darkness, evenly across the surfaces--and without charring the outside and leaving your frozen stuff icy in the centre, and without making PopTarts Flambe!

4-0 out of 5 stars Old looks, new tricks
What can you ask of a toaster? It should heat things. Preferably to a crisp. Um, beyond that, toaster technology doesn't have to be all that high. However, the T75R features just enough minor luxury appointments to make you want to upgrade. The defrost button is particularly nice for fans of frozen waffles--it extends the cooking time just enough so that the item thaws and then goes immediately into toasting. The wide slots are perfect for bagels, and they cleverly close up for thinner items like Pop-Tarts. The brown level is easily adjustable and has an impressive range, from barely to blackened. And, no doubt, the thing looks cool. (Speaking of which, the "cool steel" part means the sides do not heat up during operation--the red parts are safe to touch during toasting.) I picked this up on a Gold Box offer and I'm glad I did; true to its name, it's classic and classy. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Coffee Roaster
FROM BO IN CHICAGO - I see a very few people have rated this popper for coffee roasting--let me bring that to y'all's attention again. Don't bother popping popcorn in this machine. (You need *oil* for good popcorn, Silly! [joke!]) Go to the website for Sweet Maria's green coffee beans, find out how to use this popper to roast your own excellent coffee, and you can have all different kinds and roasts and it's FRESH--and far less expensive than buying stale coffee from the big coffeehouse roasters. I've been using this popper for at least two years (well, okay, it only lasts about a year, but $15 for a year's worth of great coffee? I'm in). I always get fabulous results (not counting 'operator [me] failure' of course), with the help of Sweet Maria's website and a little Japanese vacuum pot that hasn't let me down yet. It's not too hard, either--I'm a lazy girl. Try it. You'll believe it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Good dog entertainment!
I'm mad, and disappointed in Target. If they're only going to offer one air popper at least it should work. On a recent healthy eating kick my wife brought this air popper home (and threw the box out before we knew how bad it was going to be). After the first popping we thought we had bad popcorn, it was a few months old afterall. With about 20% yield and only half of that landing in a large bowl it took a lot of popcorn to get enough to eat. After the second and now third attempt at popping I just end up with popped and unpopped kernels all over the kitchen no matter how much I try to contain them. The dog likes it because it takes about 5 minutes to scour the kitchen floor to find all the little treats that have been scattered about. At least someone is getting some enjoyment out of it. I had an air popper years ago that looked just like this and worked great but I gave it away to a family member, now they have the luxury of air popped pocorn in a bowl instead of all over the floor.

Target is a local company and was always trusted to have good products at good prices. It seems in an attempt to offer the cheapest product they've done exactly that. Unfortunately I don't have a box anymore so I can't really return this unit. I'm extremely disappointed that this is the only choice they offer, I guess I'll just use it to entertain the dog. Avoid this item, and beware what other cheap product Target may be trying to sell us these days.

1-0 out of 5 stars Seriously! DO NOT BUY THIS!!!
As if I need to even write this review... everybody else has said the same thing! If I could.. I would not have even given this the one star that I did. This thing is awful. I bought it even after reading all of the terrible reviews because I honestly could not find an air popper anywhere else. And, I thought to myself, "It can't be THAT bad!" It was though. I brought it home and I was so excited to try it right away. I put in the half cup of kernels and I expected the 4-quarts or so of popcorn that the instructions tell you about. At first things went really well. The first few kernels popped really nicely and I thought maybe everyone had been wrong about this thing! BUT, once it got warmed up, there were burning kernels flying all over the kitchen. I had read about this, but I really could not believe just how bad it was until I could see it for myself! It was horrible. I think I ended up with about a cup of popcorn that had actually been popped by the end of the whole ordeal. Needless to say, I returned the popper the next day.

1-0 out of 5 stars If you like to crunch on kernals....
I received this as a birthday gift. I was thrilled! <br /> What a let down, I tried three different times and all three times did I have a floor and bowl filled with unpopped kernals and maybe a handful of "popped" corn. I tried to use half the amount of kernal and still had the same problem. Two thumbs down on this one.

1-0 out of 5 stars DANGER WILL ROBINSON! DANGER
I bought this last night and was so excited to have hot air popped corn! So I follow the directions and put the corn in (using the provided measuring cup) plugged the thing in and within a few seconds the corn started popping. I thought WOW this works fast! Then I started noticing that for every 1 popped kernel, at least 10 unpopped burning hot kernels were being sparyed all of me and my kitchen. I could not beleive that this machine passed the QA testing! Someone at Toastmaster should be fired for creating/marketing and selling this machine.
I called Target and I am going to return this and go over to another retailer and buy the Presto Popper I saw there.
Next time, I will read the reviews! I would have never believed a machine would be sold that would perform so poorly.

This is a great blender for the price. It is very versitile.

But what disappointed me most was that, as the other reviewer mentioned, the operation button FALLS APART.

This item worked okay for a while, although it didn't get all the lumps out of my protein shake mix, but after limited use the hi/low switch fell off.

4-0 out of 5 stars So far, so good
I've had the Toastmaster blender for about a month, and thus far it works well. I want to give it 5 stars, but it's too early to tell. I bought it as a cheaper alternative to the Braun hand blender (my Braun finally quit on me after about 10 years of use). I primarily use my blender for protein shakes and the occasional ice cream milkshake. Keep in mind that you don't get any extra attachments or a beaker/cup with this model. The high and low speeds are nice - I think for most people, the low speed will suffice as it has plenty of power. As far as motor noise goes, the Toastmaster has a 'growl' sound as compared to the Braun which has more of a 'whine' sound, if that makes sense. I don't think either blender is louder or quieter than the other. For my uses, the Toastmaster works just fine and I recommend it (although if it poops out on me in the near future, I will be back to indicate that). Happy blending!!

Actually I'm talking about my dad here, he recently had several teeth removed, and didn't want to face the dentist for a while. He has some upper dentures, but he doesn't feel comfortable using them. For Christmas, I told him I was gonna get him one of these choppers. Now, I looked at those things they advertise of TV all the time, they sell for sixty bucks or more, but I didn't see that they were worth the money. There are a lot of good small choppers out there, they perform pretty well until the blades break off the plastic rotors. You can hardly expect a titanium rotor for under fifteen dollars.

I figured at the price of this "Chopster" thing, if it breaks anytime soon, I can just buy a few more. When my dad opened it up for Christmas, he was surprised at how sturdy the thing was. Simple too, you put on the chopping cup, then fill it with what you want chopped up. The last step is to put on the lid, and push the big button. It's a plug-in device not a battery powered one, so it has good power. My dad likes, and uses it all the time. I just got him a Subway sub the other day, and my dad was able to chop his up the way he wanted, and eat it with a spoon.

Just by looking at the picture, I think you can see that it's easy to clean. The chopping cup comes off easily, and it can be rinsed off in the sink, or even put in the dishwasher if you so desire. I'd consider taking it out before the drying cycle, even though it says its dishwasher safe, heating elements may warp it. I've used the Chopster myself a few times, and it works great. If you put in mixed items, like my dads sub sandwich, the lighter stuff like the bread, sometimes just stays on top. If you break it down a little, it chops up fine. While I think this is a pretty good machine, I wouldn't recommend it for heavy use like chopping frozen foods, or cracking ice. Like I mentioned earlier, these plastic choppers are good until they break. The Chopster is for convenience, its not meant to replace a blender or food processor.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great
The size of this chopper is great. I didn't have the money for a big food processor and I really don't need a big one, so this one was idea. Other Toastmaster products tend to be made cheaply, but this is awesome. I even recommended it to my boss who bought one for the assisted living home we work at to chop up food for the residents who have trouble chewing. This item is great. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars The little burner that could...
I have no kitchen stove so I have been relying on this little champ for everything from tea to pasta (before South Beach Diet) to making eggs in the morning, etc. I have owned this unit for over 3 years and have NEVER ONCE had a problem with it. Awesome for a college student or a person with a tiny apartment such as mine. Also great for taking to work. It is a bit hard to clean and there is not too much area to touch to move it while it is still cooling down. Other than that, I highly recommend it. I am here today to buy the DOUBLE version and I can only hope that it performs as well as it's little sister. Enjoy!!! - Lin

3-0 out of 5 stars A couple of problems
Firstly, the top does not lift up very far for cleaning. Cleaning the inside is therefore a hassle.

Secondly, the temperature control knob is black as is the unit; you cannot easily see the position of the knob! I marked a few places on the unit with a Sharpie and colored the top of the knob so I could at least tell what was going on. ... Read more
