Amazon.com Review The WindTunnel Ultra is designed for both bare floors and carpets, with a 15-inch cleaning path and three adjustable nozzle heights to accommodate variation in carpet depth. Dirt collection is bagged using Hoovers Microfiltration system, and a helpful indicator signal keeps you posted on the bags status. A HEPA filter assists the bag, trapping 100 percent of dust mites and 99.98 percent of ragweed and common grass pollens. The vacuum comes handsomely equipped for attachment cleaning with a stretch hose, two extension wands, a crevice tool, an upholstery tool, and a dusting brush all on board. (The Dirt Finder does not work with the attachments.) The most rigorous attachment is a powered hand tool with its own rotating brushroll--great for carpeted stairs and durable upholstery. Other useful elements include quick-release cord hooks, a carrying handle, a headlight, and a view window over the brush roll. Hoover covers the machine with a one-year warranty. --Emily Bedard Features Reviews (29)
Downside: When using the tools with the short hose, the vacuum tips too easily and can easily hit you, or nearby walls or furniture potentially causing damage (scratches/scuff marks). I am satisfied with this product and would consider purchase of another many years from now, as all functions/features still work as when new.

Amazon.com For cleaning stairs or upholstery, this deep cleaner has a long 8-foot hose and a special stair/upholstery nozzle that scrubs out spots. Other attachments include a bare floor nozzle and a powered hand tool that is also ideal for upholstery or small carpet areas. All tools are mounted on the front of the vac in a handy case. Other features of this deep cleaner include a brush indicator, which informs you that the brushes are spinning; an on/off foot pedal; a handle release pedal; and a 27-inch wraparound cord. The Hoover SteamVac is covered by a full one-year warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde Features Reviews (8)
Use as directed with hot water to loosen the dirt, and go slow give the machine chance to break the dirt and suck it out from the rug. Tanks are smaller than in the pro machine, but machine is lighter and smaller than $1099 Pro Hoover SteamVac monster.
What a great machine this is because of the turbo brushes. They get deep down into the fibers and really scrub and clean the rug. The colors popped as if new again. I did every rug in the house. I too boiled some the water I added to the machine so it would stay hot while I worked. It is pretty easy to set up and use as well. To the person who gave this a bad rating I say " This is not a Vacuum Cleaner." This is a carpet steamer/cleaner. You have to vacuum your rugs BEFORE your clean them..... Read the instructions. I think you will use and like this machine and be very glad you got one. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review For above-floor and spot cleaning, the vacuum comes with a ready-to-go hose and onboard attachments, including an extension wand, two crevice wands in different lengths, a dusting brush, and an upholstery tool. These are stored in side clips and a tidy front hatch. Beltless for easy maintenance, the vacuum also includes helpful extras, including quick-release cord hooks, a carrying handle, a 31-foot power cord, nonmarring wheels, a furniture guard, and a headlight. The power switch is in the handle, and the three handle positions are controlled with a foot pedal. Hoover backs up this unit with a full one-year warranty. --Emily Bedard Features Reviews (55)
The V2 is fantastic so far. It is a little hard to push on carpet on the lowest setting, but I attribute this to the powerful suction and will deal with it because it's getting my carpet clean! I have a large amount of tile floors, and it works wonderfully on them as well (you just turn off the rollers with the touch of a button). It also glides really well on hard surfaces. The non-marring "soft wheels" are great! No more thick plastic wheels that are noisy as you roll them or to scratch surfaces. I've tried out the various attachments, and the suction is fantastic! I cleaned the stairs with the upholstery tool, and used the crevice tools with great success. I love the way the tools are conveniently stored, but out of the way when you're not using them. You can push the foot pedal to make the vacuum lie completely flat to get underneath furniture, etc. Emptying the dust bin and filter is really easy too. The other great thing is that it doesn't fill up really quickly. I've vacuumed almost the entire house without ever reaching anywhere near the capacity of the dust bin, although I emptied it anyway just to have it completely empty. In short, if you're considering making an investment in a new vacuum, you can't go wrong with this Hoover. It makes cleaning so much easier!
I bought this vacuum after trying out a friend's Windtunnel that worked very well. I decided to go with the V2 after much research because of the beltless feature. I unpacked the vacuum put it all together (VERY easy, even my husband could do it). I vacuumed my living room with my old vacuum and then with the new one and got up so much dog hair, dust and carpet fiber! I thought this thing is awsome, but a little loud. After vacuuming the whole downstairs of my house I just couldn't take it anymore, the thing was shrieking like a banshee! I tried changing the hieght settings and it didn't help. It must be the gear system because it only does it when the brush rolers are on. I called customer service this am (another problem - no toll free number and the website's no help) and explained the vacuum was whining loudly - is this normal? She states " Well the gears do whine a little bit." I said " NO, this is very loud." She says "Yes it is a little loud." Needless to say, I returned it this morning. Also, while the on-off brush feature is nice, it is hard to get to. It is down on the front of the vacuum with the carpet height adjustment, and both swithches are recessed in to a hollow, so you can't use your foot. So you have to bend over every time you go from carpet to hard floor. If you can live with the loudness and bending over, this vacuum cleans great! But this wasn't the vacuum for me!
Another once-respected name sold out to plastic. ... Read more

A couple of minor things I don't like about this unit: You connect an attachment to the hose by pushing it on--no actual mechanism that snaps or clicks in place to keep the attachment on the hose. So very frequently I have to re-attach the attachment as it falls off during the vaccuming. Also, to use the hose, one plugs it out of the "seat" (vaccumed dust gets sucked up through the "seat" tube into the hose and then into the bag). But one has to push the "seat cover" tight so that dust does not get blown out of the "seat" itself during vaccuming. For all the allergy prevention measures Hoover put into this vaccum, somehow Hoover didn't bother to find a better way to ensure that vaccumed dust gets into the bag. These may be standard features with all Hoover uprights, and other people may not find them as inconvenient. All in all, though, this vaccum does suck, really well.

Now, 6 years later, it was time to get a newer vacuum to take advantage of features such as bagless and self propulsion. After comparing specs and reading reviews, including those in Consumer Reports, another Hoover seemed to be the logical choice. I ended up getting the U6660-900, which is the same as the U6630 with the exception of an extended warranty and an additional flex hose. This is a wonderful vacuum cleaner! Self propulsion makes this 24 lber feel like it only weighs 5 lbs. The amount of dirt it picks up is remarkable - the dirt finder feature gives you the confidence that you have thoroughly cleaned an area. Bagless is the only way to go - emptying the canister is very easy. The filtration system is most effective - you don't get that vacuum smell associated with 'dirty air' cleaners. Plus, the frequency with which filters need to be replaced with this model is much less than other makes (3 years for the Hepa filter). Other nice touches include the ability to turn off the brush roller when cleaning floors; the turbo tool that does a nice job on upholstery; the 35' power cord that minimizes the need to change outlets; and the thoughtful placement of the on board tools and extension hose. Overall, you just can't go wrong with this top of the line Hoover product. Based on the good experience with my previous Wind Tunnel, I expect this model will also provide years of trouble free service.
On the positive side, it does have a really good hand tool.
Each time we started the Hoover, we first had to position the suction hose near the dirt cannister to catch the dust that flew out whenever the unit was first turned on. With 2 cats, we too were lured by advertising hoopla into the idea that this unit could handle the cat hair. Sure it can, but it means replacing an expensive ($30) filter about 6 to 8 times a year. You do the math - in a couple of years the cost of filters exceeds the cost of the Hoover! Cleaning the "bagless cannister" is very messy, make sure you do it outside and on a calm day! We'll take a "bag type" anyday!

I then drove across the county to my Hoover dealer. He told me that there were two screws missing, which should have been installed at the factory, and replaced them. He also pointed out that the "scrub" function is a misnomer -- the thing doesn't scrub; its brushes aren't designed to move at all. He assured me that the tiny dribble of cleaning solution he managed to get out of it was all it needed. I took my expensive toy home and tried it. The advertised three-way action is actually about a half dozen separate actions, only two of them (vacuuming and dribbling) done by the machine. You have to do the rest. First you have to dry vacuum the floor. Then you switch over to wet/scrub and three tiny streaks of fluid appear. Then you go back over it to spread the fluid around and, supposedly, to pick up the fluid and dirt. After a few minutes the floor dries and you see dirty streaks everywhere. Repeat process. Same thing. Repeat, repeat, repeat. Then go get a mop and do it properly. As far as I can tell, the purpose of this appliance is to moisten dust, move it around a little and leave it on the floor as streaks. The machine has no effect whatever on dried spills, footprints, scuff marks, dirt or any of the other things that routinely find their way onto a floor. And the tanks are so small that you can only do about half a room before you have to empty and refill. I have bought a lot of appliances since I started restoring my house. Some have been great (Bosch dishwasher, Mac woodchipper, Mikita powertools), most good (Amana gas range, ShopVac), but this Hoover is the biggest piece of crap, backed by the worst customer service, that I have enountered outside the former Soviet Union. I gave it one star only because you are not given the option of none. And now Amazon won't take it back because 30 days passed before I could use it.
It went together easily; probably 10 minutes and we were ready to go. Somehow we managed to get it out of the box and assembled without noticing the brush configuration (there was no need to turn it over during assembly). I vacuumed and cleaned the white linoleum in our 500 sf kitchen in about an hour, using about 1.5 tanks of water + 3 oz of solution. It did a great job of picking up dog hair, pepper, sugar, etc, and did an OK job of cleaning the floor (still kind of dirty in the pits of the linoleum. I was disappointed that it took so long, but amazed at how filthy the water was, when we had just mopped a couple of days before. While cleaning it out I discovered it didn't have the spinning brushes. After some quick research, we found that both the 3000 and 3010 models have the spinning brushes. The 3010 model (FloorMate Plus) has only been out since Sept 2003, costs only about $35 more than we paid, and also has a longer cord and extra set of brushes. It didn't take long to decide to send back the 2080 and get the 3010. We weren't completely unhappy with the results of the 2080, but figured for $30 more, the 3010 would do even better.
This is well worth the $!!!!!!!!!!

When you first get it the vacuum WILL impress you with its suction and the way it makes your carpet look. It just feels powerful. The 3rd day the belt broke and by the end of the first week I had gone through 3 belts. This is not a flaw with the vacuum itself however. The belts are low quality and cheaply made. This problem was easily fixed by going to sears and buying a kenmore belt of comparable size. I have not changed the belt in the last 5 months. I am going back to bags as my allergies and my wallet just can't take this vacuum anymore.
My only warning/complaint (and the Hoover booklet already tells you, but I missed it my first time through and wanted to 'save' someone else the belt if they 'miss' it too!): when the vacuum is upright and you're using the onboard tools (say, to vacuum the furniture), the main floor brush continues to spin (unlike my old vac where if it was fully 'upright' the main vacuum shut off and sent all power to the wand). Not a problem so long as you're aware of this and don't place it on the edge of a rug (where it burns the belt off trying to suck the rug up into the vacuum!). The good news is: they include an extra belt with the original packaging (so I didn't need to wait on shipping a spare)! So, it took a little getting used to, but the cleaning power of this thing was WELL worth it!
I bought it at my local Sears, and paid more than it costs here. After reading the reviews here I am glad I bought it before I saw them, I probably wouldn't have bought it with some of the things posted! I have lived in my apartment for over a year and had new carpet at the time we moved in. Now my daughter is 7mos and crawling. I noticed that the tops of her feet and hands were so dirty, and I was vacuuming EVERYDAY. I also noticed that when I would sit on the floor and play with her I would be covered in carpet lint. I finally decided that my 3yr old Eureka (that smelt of burnt hair) needed to retire. I did some research elsewhere and decided to get this vacuum. I took it home and put it together (four screws - very easy) and started to vacuum right away. It was amazing! I had just vacuumed the day before with my old machine, but I filled the canister with just the living room and hall. I loved it so much I was going crazy and using the attachments to get the baseboards, furniture, cobwebs, dust... you name it! I have yet to see a dip in it's performance. I empty the canister after each use (by choice - it's kind of neat to see what I picked up). When using the attachments I set it to the highest setting to prevent undue carpet wear. As for some of the negative reviews this model is NOT for bare floors, the saleslady said I could try but it probably just push the dust around. Also you may need to clean hair out of the brushes if you are like me with VERY long hair. I shed a lot and I am used to doing so.. it really isn't a big deal. This vacuum is a great tool. I personally don't have $500 to spend - I have a new baby (with much cleaner feet by the way).
The vaccum finally died today....out in the trash it will go on Monday. Don't waste your time or money on this vaccum! ... Read more

Amazon.com Review Several on-board tools are available for time-saving, efficient cleaning. The dusting brush is perfect for such items like carved furniture, tabletops, books, lamps, lighting fixtures, Venetian blinds, baseboards, shutters, and registers. The furniture nozzle works great for upholstered furniture, draperies, mattresses, clothing, automobile interiors, and carpeted stairs. The crevice wand, which stores inside the extension wand, helps with hard-to-reach spaces like corners or along edges in places like dresser drawers, upholstered furniture, stairs, and baseboards. It can also be used for extra reach with the dusting brush and/or extension wand. The extension wand gives extra length to the hose and can be used with any of the above tools. There's also a powered hand tool that makes carpeted stairs and upholstery easier to clean. The vacuum's handle has three positions: upright when using the various cleaning tools; operating position for general cleaning of carpet and floors; and low for reaching under furniture like sofas or beds--just step on the handle-release pedal to lower or raise the handle. For easy storage, the upper handle folds down making the vacuum more compact; just press the upper-handle release button and fold the handle down into the storage position. To return the handle to its working position, simply raise it into its upright position until it locks into place. Other features include a headlight for better visibility, a 15-inch-wide cleaning path, and five height-adjustment settings for easily moving from a throw rug to bare floors. Its 31-foot cord could be a little longer because once you get started, you won't want to have to stop and replug. An instruction manual is included to help you care for and get the most out of your Hoover EmPower. This vacuum carries a one-year warranty. --Catie Unger Features

1. Convenient placement of controls - power switch on handle, and foot pedal to lower handle operates easily. We have had no problems with using attachments. It does not tip over. Hose does not clog. Goes from carpet to hardwood floors, and can clean throw rugs if care is taken to avoid sucking in the fringe. If you are considering a bagless model, remember that the dirt cup must be emptied and a certain amount of dust escapes. After trying both, we really prefer the disposable bag. Removing the dust either way is unpleasant, but the bag requires attention less often. Overall, based on price/value, this model gets 5 stars.
If you read my former big review I broke the top cord wrap. 2 new belts, 1 agitator, new cord wrap hook, delivered(1 day) 28 bucks. We have burber(sp?) carpet so it knocked out a lot of the bristles and I replaced the belt cause I was there. (lost the extra one that came with vac.) Cleaned out the agitator area LOTS OF DIRT!!! I still think for those of us with less than 5 cats this vacuum works great. I'm really amazed by those who complain it doesn't work or lacks suction. Like I said in my original review for me suction is the smallest issue of all!!!! I've had this vac at least 4 years and besides some minor annoyances it works fine, especially for the money.
