Amazon.com Review

The Lift-Off bagless vacuum from Bissell delivers two-in-one cleaning capability and structural smarts for convenient, multi-purpose cleaning. Designed for full-scale use as an upright, the Lift-Off takes its name from the detachable canister that releases from its center for easier maneuvering on stairs and tight corners. A powerful 12 amps in either configuration, the Lift-Off is suitable for low and high carpets as well as bare floors, draperies, and upholstery. The floor nozzle is markedly wide--a full 14-1/2 inches--and delivers dual-edge cleaning, optional brush roll agitation, and seven different heights for floor type variation. The button controlling the brush roll is separate from the power switch, and the nozzle has a view window that lets you track it for clogs or stoppage. Dirt collection on the Lift-Off is bagless, and the removable, rinse-able container locks into place in use. In addition to the cup's built-in filter, the vacuum includes a HEPA Media Filter to keep 99 percent of dust mites, pollen, and ragweed inside the machine. A pre-motor filter keeps particulates out of the engine.

Above-floor cleaning is simplified by the Lift Off's smart attachments, in particular a super stretchy hose that offers nine feet of reach without bulking up the chassis. Other cleaning tools stored on board include a telescoping extension wand, a crevice tool, a stair tool, a dusting brush, and an upholstery tool. Handy extras range from the wide-beam headlight to the extra-gentle furniture bumper to the textured handle grip. The Lift Off comes in a snappy dark red that adds a little spice to cleaning day. Bissell includes a one-year warranty. --Emily Bedard ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars So many features, yet excelling at none
I have been desparate for a "real" vacuum cleaner for a long time. I moved into a loft 2 yrs ago and I inherited my s/o's trusty little dirt devil. The loft has a combination of concrete, tile, laminate, and a variety of (large and furry) area rugs to keep clean and the dirt devil wasn't cutting the mustard.

I bought this one after comparing it to 4 other models at the local Costco. The one I have is green and has a nifty turbo attachment as well, however was priced more than Amazon.com when calculating tax and Amazon's free shipping.

If you want something that is full of features and attachments, this is the vacuum for you. However, there are so many features and attachments, the resulting vacuum is one that makes a lot of compromises.

Here's the rundown in no particular order:
1. Canister and Upright: Yay for both! However, the upright is harder to maneuver, the extender attachment must come off if you have it in canister mode, and the canister looks like it should be kept upright when in canister mode because of the HEPA filter...but it has a really small end to balance on.
2. You have to put it together before you use it. Not a deal-breaker, but if you're not the most do-it-yourself savvy person, it can be a little intimidating.
3. The emptying bin isn't so bad to empty, in fact when we were shopping Bissell had the easiest canister to access and empty: just slide the switch and pull it out (the Hoovers and Eurekas looked like they would be a lot harder and messier to empty). Sure dust can fly, but I just empty it into a grocery bag, tie it up, and that minimizes and contamination that can occur.
4. Hose is relatively indestructible, but doesn't go very far despite its stretchy properties. You need the extender for it to have meaningful reach.
5. Nice edger tool, but disconnecting the hose in the back is a little complicated if you don't also use the extender.
6. Turbo brush works relatively well on stuffed animals and throw pillows but not on carpet. Makes a bizzare whirring noise that can get disconcerting.
7. The cord generally self-unravels. Nice until you start moving around, then it gets messy.
8. 7 floor settings are great, but I have found that unless you have super-shaggy or ultra-deep pile carpet, the middle setting is the best for your average thick carpet. Any less setting and the suction is so hard you can't move it, any higher setting and you get nothing out of the rugs. Bare floor option is nice, but due to the texture of my concrete the low carpet setting with the brush on is the best.
9. So many attachments, no onboard place for two of them. The turbo cleaner and the stair cleaner don't have a home on the vacuum. Alas.
10. Nice that the brush turns off when in an upright position. Disconcerting at first, but once you know about it, it's okay. This almost renders the brush switch pointless for me, but I can see how people who are worried about the brush on their bare floors would want it off.

11. Vacuums well, but I have some newish Ikea carpet that gives off a lot of fuzz. There were still some embedded fur-balls left after a few passes. But in the machine's defense, I don't think those rugs have ever had a "real" vacuuming.
12. HEPA filter blows hot air on your legs. Not a good thing especially since you're essentially giving your arms and back a work-out with this machine
13. Not loud, not quiet. Would have to raise your voice to carry a conversation
14. Manuverability only so-so. Good for wide open spaces, more difficult when you're vacuuming around furniture or edges. Not thin enough at all when in upright mode to vacuum under any of my furniture save for the bed. Needs a clearance of at least 8 inches to poke under and 10-12 inches. to go fully under.

All and all, it is NOT a bad vacuuming machine. It can do everything that you could ever want it to do pretty well, but nothing really great. I'm not sure if there is any other vacuum that would work better for me, and for the price, I would say this was a very fair buy. I just keep looking at the Dyson, and wondering...

5-0 out of 5 stars Great vacuum!
I've only had this unit for a couple of weeks, so I can't comment on durability. However, it looks and feels indestructible. Even the flexible hose for attachments, although heavy, is built like a metal slinky and isn't disfigured or stressed after I dropped the vacuum part off a table onto it. The filters work great and are simple to change out. The dirt is collected and compacted into the bin, so dust doesn't go everywhere when you go to empty it. Stick it in, move a lever and the bin is sealed again. The 'lift off' feature is not really necessary, but seems to be designed well. (I haven't found the Achilles' heel yet, but as an R&D guy in real life, I would want to see how it does attaching and detaching the flexible hose (the slinky) to the base unit a few hundred-thousand times before going to market with it. But, I'm sure someone did.) At some point I am going to attach the unit to a vacuum gauge to see exactly how powerful it is. I had read a bad customer review that was based on poor suction. I haven't needed to pull any industrial strength jobs, but it pulls dog hair galore out of thick carpet, and turned my very thin oriental rug into colors I had never seen before (it had taken on different shades of my dog)... so plenty of suction for anything I've run into. The separate switch for floor brush is nice to turn off for quick dusting jobs. It also flattens horizontally, which is nice for getting under beds and other furniture. However, that same feature makes it a little more difficult to navigate rooms with lots of boarders and power chords, where tilting the front edge of the vacuum up off the carpet to jump over edges is needed frequently. My only real complaint is about the dusting attachment. I had an old Kirby with a dusting attachment with long soft bristles which could be moved across the surface of electronic equipment without bumping into knobs and buttons with something hard. This one has a dusting attachment with a ring of short hard whiskers with which one could poke out an eye. I can't dust the computer keyboard without pressing all the keys, I can't pull dust off a motherboard without clobbering the components. It's really more of a 'scraper' than a duster. It would be good for scrubbing a really tough spot off a tile floor... but not for dusting. I'm assuming I'll be able buy something better to fit the hose, thus earning it five stars. Hopefully this isn't naïve optimism.

5-0 out of 5 stars great deal
well, i think this is a great buy! this cleans so well and makes my carpets look new! i vacuumed with my old vacuum then i vacuumed again over the area with this new one and let me tell you all the dirt this one picked up that my other one did not. overall, i give it a thumbs up!

4-0 out of 5 stars ALMOST PERFECT EXCEPT FOR THE POWER CORD
THIS WAS GOING TO BE MY FIRST UPRIGHT VACUUM AND BOY WAS I PLEASED UNTIL I READ THE MANUAL - WHERE IT STATES "WARNING POWERCORD CONTAINS LEAD THAT IS KNOWN
TO CAUSE BIRTH DEFECTS OR MAY HARM THE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM."
IT REALLY BROKE MY HEART TO RETURN THE VACUUM TO THE STORE - I WISH BISSELL DID NOT USE LEAD ON THE POWER CORD. MOREOVER THE CANISTER DID NOT DO WELL TOO IN THE STAIRS. HOWEVER, IF USED AS AN UPRIGHT ITS A CLEANING MACHINE. IT HAS A DURABLE BODY AND WAS CONSTRUCTED VERY WELL. DESIGN WISE IT WAS VERY GOOD TOO - AT LEAST TO MY EYES. I WOULD BUY IT IF NOT ONLY FOR THAT FREAKING POWER CORD WITH TRACES OF LEAD.

5-0 out of 5 stars Worth every penny.
There are so many options for vacuum on the market, and it's so hard to find the one that really suits your needs. Am I glad to find this Bissell for my household!! I'd been using Eureka for over ten years, and it finally died on me after replaing three belts over the years. Even though the engine of Eureka was still good, I just thought I really wanted to get a new one this time. After checking so many different models, I finally set my eyes on this Bissell Liftoff. After using it couple times, I am satisfied with its performance. It's much quieter and smoother. Especially the LiftOff part is the greatest feature above all. I get to carry it around to clean the corners and some hard-to-reach spots. It does a wonderful job!! I highly recommend it. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

With the 12-amp Proheat self-propelled upright deep cleaner, Bissell has changed the deep-cleaning experience in two key ways: first, you no longer have to break your back pushing the machine around, and second, getting water good and hot is no longer a challenge. The machine is suitable for carpet and water-safe upholstery; it even comes with a bare floor attachment for tackling the grime on your linoleum.

The cleaner is self-propelled in both forward and reverse, though you can manually override this feature if you need to stop to work out a stain or clean upholstery. It contains a built-in heater to get cleaning solution very hot, heating tap water up to 25 extra degrees with a maximum of 180 degrees F. A separate cleaning solution tank lets you set the machine for light or heavy dispersal, and the 1-gallon tank-in-tank water container, while a bit complicated, trims down the machine's overall bulk and weight.

The Proheat has several other notable features, including an oversized 6-row brush roll, a ready-to-use hose, and fingertip controls. It comes with a Scotchgard applicator, a spraying crevice tool, and a stain remover, as well as a practically bionic TurboBrush, complete with its own brush roll. Bissell also builds in a flow indicator to warn you if the tank has run dry and a heater indicator light to eliminate guessing. Helpful details include a carrying handle and quick-release hooks for the power cord. The machine comes with full-size starter bottles of Scotchgard, Bissell Fiber Cleansing Formula, and Bissell Floor Cleansing Formula. --Emily Bedard ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A first-time carpet cleaner
We cleaned our carpets for the first time since moving in and this thing worked miracles with all of our dirty places. The only experience I've had with using carpet cleaners was with the little handheld dirt devil unit (skip that one!). Overall, the machine is easy to use and maintain. The heated water unit is amazing and I don't know how others survive without it. Our carpets look fluffy and brand new again! The handheld attachment works great for stairs and cars, cleaning almost as well as the whole unit.

One word of warning: be careful with the cleaning settings...if you choose "heavy traffic" the machine eats soap like crazy! You could use two 64 oz. bottles for just two rooms if you're not careful!

Since all our carpets are less than 3 years old, when we cleaned them the carpets made tons of fuzzballs that got sucked up into the machine. There doesn't seem to be anyway to pry them out until they dry and either fall out or get sucked in.

5-0 out of 5 stars Self propelled fast and easy cleaning machine
This powerful machine really sucks up dirt and the pile of your carpet, restoring it to a newer appearance. It also removes imbedded pet hair. The heated water and self-propelled features, along with the easy to fill small water container ( I used the bathroom sink) make it easy to use. It's also very quiet, didn't even scare my new kittens and old dog. This is the best carpet cleaner I've owned, and I've had several.

1-0 out of 5 stars The worst $ I ever spent
We bought the first bissel cleaner and it lasted around 13 months before it gave up (just past warrenty). Would quit spraying. The repair man wanted over $80 to fix her and said it was a common problem. Said that the pump & internal hoses were always getting clogged.

I didn't believe him and I thought it did a pretty darn good job cleaning so we went out and bought another one. This one lasted 4 months (two uses) before the same thing happened. Took it to the repair shop as it was still under warrenty. Used in three more times and, guess what? The same problem came back - it would no longer spray water or cleaning solution. This time it was, 1 month past warrenty.

Took it to the guy who did the original repair - who now wanted over $100 to fix it.

So, two machines had the same problem three times over a 2 year period. Too much for just bad luck if you ask me. We're off to buy a Hoover.

1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed in Connecticut
After reading the reviews on this machine, most of which were positive, I ordered the model 7950. When it arrived, we took it out of the box and put it together...and nothing happened. The motor was working, but nothing else. It wouldn't spray any solution, nor would it take up anything. It just made noise. I have since returned it. I am very disappointed because I was really looking forward to using this machine. Thank you to Amazon for being understanding and making the return process so easy. Maybe if I could get one that works.....

5-0 out of 5 stars Awsome Machine, worth every penny!
I just recieved my machine, and couldnt wait to use it!......With two bullmastiffs (10 months and 11 weeks) in the house it sure had its work cut out for it. And WOW! my carpets look almost brand new!.... ... Read more

Designed for bare floors, carpets, upholstery, and stairs, theEasyVac Powerbrush from Bissell is a highly versatile vacuum. First of all, themachine features two motors--one for suction and one that rotates the powerbrush. The power brush itself is optional, turning off with the flip of a switchfor cleaning linoleum and hardwood floors. The machine's 11-inch floor nozzlefeatures an edge-cleaning design and a transparent hatch that reveals the powerbrush in action. The EasyVac's detachable canister is great for hand-vacuumingand above-the-floor jobs. Onboard attachments convert with minimum hassle andinclude a crevice tool and a 5-foot stretch hose. At just 11 pounds, thismachine is relatively lightweight, so it's easy to carry, lift, and push.Bissell equips it with a bagless dirt collection cup--just note when the cup'sfull and pop it off to empty. Inside the cup, a reusable filter trapsparticulates to improve air quality in the home. Dual quick-release storagehooks keep the 18-foot power cord in place, and the machine's casters are gentleon floors. A loop in the handle allows for hanging storage. --EmilyBedard ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Value for the price
I bought this vacuum after using a Dirt Devil for 10 years. The handle on the dirt devil broke off, so I needed a new vacuum. We live in a small home with mostly hardwood floors with a few area rugs. I've been so happy with this machine! I haven't used my broom in two weeks. Everytime I vacuum the rugs, I switch over to hardwood floor mode and vacuum the floors too. I love the fact that it is lightweight, but still powerful. I've never had a "bagless" vacuum before, but I love seeing all the dust and dirt that I pick up each time I vacuum. Thanks Bissell!

5-0 out of 5 stars Very EASY Vacuuming
This is the best handy vacuuming device I have ever purchased. With 3 kids, 1 dog, 1 bird, and a very busy schedule, I wanted something for quick daily sweep-ups. I tried my dust buster, the electric brooms etc. This vacuum is perfect. I have wood floors and area rugs of various sizes and the transistion is easy. Just flip the switch. There is a handle on the top to aid handling. It's light and quiet. It empties and filters like a dustbuster. It rests upright when you want it to and doesn't klunk you on the head unexpectedly. Pick-up is great. Powerbrush works fine. The power cord is basically room size. This vacuum is the one to use for daily and weekly (even hourly) tidying up. I bought it a month ago and haven't brought out the Electrolux yet. Inevitably, I will because for the big time cleaning under the beds etc. I will need my canister vac. with the floor brush on the long handle. Buy this vacuum if you want to do the Monster whole house vacuuming less often. The Easy Vac is perfect for Quick EASY vacuuming.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Vacuum
I just purchased this vacuum at Linens n Things ($40) after researching all day. I love it so far. It worked great on my hardwood floors and did wonders for my area rugs too - the fact that you can switch between carpet and hard floors is a plus. I'm actually amazed (and somewhat embarrassed ) at how much cat hair and dirt I emptied out of the filter compartment after just one use. Overall a great vacuum for light jobs.

5-0 out of 5 stars AWESOME PRODUCT
I JUST BOUGHT THIS VACUUM FOR MY BARE FLOORS. I HAVE A DOG THAT SHEDS AND A HIGH TRAFFIC AREA WITH TWO YOUNG KIDS WHO BRING IN ALL THE DIRT FROM OUTSIDE. MY OTHER VACUUM CLEANER DIDN'T WORK WELL ON BARE FLOORS, SO I NEEDED SOMETHING LIGHT WEIGHT AND SMALL AND THIS VACUUM DID IT. IT IS AWESOME PICKING UP ALL THE DIRT AND HAIR WHEN SET TO BARE FLOOR SETTINGS. IF YOU NEED A LITTLE MORE POWER TO GET UP ANYTHING BIGGER THEN A PEBBLE, THEN JUST PUT IT ON THE CARPET SETTING AND IT PICKS IT RIGHT UP. I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND THIS FOR ROOMS WITH CARPET, MAYBE JUST A SMALL RUG. I AM VERY PLEASED WITH THIS PRODUCT.

5-0 out of 5 stars I Love It!
If you hate to sweep, get this vacuum for your wood and tile floor. I'm never using my broom again! It picks up all the cat hair, cat litter, sand the kids track in and who knows what else. It is quite an eye opener when you empty out the dirt cup to see what was on the floor. It is light and easy to handle. I would use a bigger vacuum for a large area of carpet, but it works great on throw rugs and entry way mats. Can't recommend it highly enough for kitchen and living room cleaning. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Never again Bissell
I have owned the 3575 model for about nine months. Saw the reviews, it fit my budget, thought it would be a good thing. Definitely not. It gets stuck on the places on the carpet that are a bit worn, suction is awful, the hose doesn't stretch like it says it should. At first it was ok, not the best, but as time has gone on, it has just gotten worse. And even though I clean the filters, empty the cup(that's easy, one good thing), check the belt, it still smells like something is burning. I used this machine to vacuum my rug, then used a friend's Oreck. I couldn't believe the amount of stuff I heard going through that machine, even though I had just vacuumed! So, this machine is headed for the thrift shop, along with the Big Green CLean Machine. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

The Bissell Catch-All vacuum lives up to its name by combining debris collection with dusting power. To make cleaning even easier, the unit operates cordlessly on a rechargeable battery that lasts 15 minutes per charge. Use of the Catch-All is markedly easy. When the handle is tipped to one side, the vacuum engages motorized non-scratching brushes to pick up large debris. Tip it to the other side and you can use the electrostatic dry cloth to snag all the fine particles and dust left on the floor. Suitable for all hard floor surfaces, the vacuum comes with non-marring felt-coated wheels, an easy-empty dust cup with a washable filter, and a simple and tidy charging unit. The battery pack pops off the base to simplify recharging, and an indicator light signals that charging is in progress. Each charge takes 6-8 hours; you can purchase additional battery packs separately to extend run time. Bissell includes a set of starter cloths and a one-year warranty. --Emily Bedard ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A miracle worker for dog owners in wintry climes
I love my Swiffer, but I found it just didn't do the job in the wintertime after moving to a city that liberally dumps sand on the roadways after snowstorms. All it did was push sand all over my lovely hard wood floors! And then my dog's prolific shedding meant I was using 4 cloths to clean my whole house (and that included turning them over when one side got dirty). The Bissell Catch-All was the perfect solution. The vacuum gets the bulk of the sand and hair, with the cloth picking up the rest--I'm down to one cloth per cleaning for my whole house. You won't want to throw out your Swiffer (you'll still need it to get under the couch and your dressers), but your floors will be better protected AND you'll save tons of money on cloths.

5-0 out of 5 stars Big time saver
This is a great device. I was unsure whether to get the Catch-all or the Dirt Devil Sweeper Vac w/ swiffer.. so I bought them both and put them to the test. The Catch-All was the clear winner and my opinion was seconded by my girlfriend in her own unbiased test. The Catch-All's soft rotating brush allowed it to pick up small particles (crumbs and such) while the Sweeper Vac failed to suck them up and resulted in the swiffer pad pushing them around. The seperate battery pack makes the CatchAll much easier to recharge and store and it makes less noise than the SweeperVac. The CatchAll is great for quick daily passes of the high traffic tile in my house and it still amazes me how much pet hair it grabs up in my everyday use. I've tried tons of floor care products and this one has won me over. I returned the Dirt Devil the next day and bought the Bissell Steam Mop which I also found to be a fantastic addition to the CatchAll.

5-0 out of 5 stars yay
I have purchased many items through Amazon, yet I've never written a review. That's how thrilled I am after using this terrific little vacuum-broom-dusting thing for the first time. I have one dog, two cats and one fiance, and all of their furry deposits are now in the garbage can in two dense, neat clumps.

Unless the battery turns out to suck, I will be rushing home after work each day to run my new best friend around all the bare floors in the house.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very cool.
After using this the first few times, I planned on giving it a crap review. Stuff just seemed to get pushed around. Then I turned it around the other way. OK, so I'm an idiot. In any case, when you run this thing vacuum first, it picks up lots. One of the main reasons I got it is for the litter that my cats can't seem to keep IN the litter box. Every time I clean the box, I run this little thing to clean up the mess. It works excellently. I also use it before wetjetting my kitchen. I don't love the Bissel cloths they enclose, but it takes my Swiffer cloths so I don't care. This seems to do a good job of picking up pet fur, litter, crumbs and dirt, etc. The only thing it wouldn't pick up are the bits of cat food around the cat dish.

5-0 out of 5 stars love it!!!
Because I have all hard wood floors in my house, I have to sweep almost everyday. This product is soooo easy to use and much more effecent at getting all of the dust/dirt than a broom and dust pan. I highly recommend it!!! ... Read more

Clean a home or business cordlessly with this 3-1/2-pound sweeperfrom Bissell, the company that invented the device. With a 9-1/2-inch cleaningpath and a six-brush system, the sweeper snags lint, crumbs, pet hair, anddebris from bare floors and carpet. It features two roller brushes and fourcorner-mounted edge cleaners that are ready to go instantly and adjustautomatically to floor type. Bissell designs the brush rollers to turn inopposite directions, so the unit picks up whether it's going forward orbackward. Emptying the sweeper's front and back collection pans is simple--justflip them open on their sturdy hinges and dump--while a clip-on brush comb helpsmaintain the rollers. The unit's steel handle can stay upright or release tohorizontal, and it features a hanging hole for storing the tool flat against thewall. Comfortable to use and efficient, the sweeper's also extra quiet, makingit great for early-morning or late-night use or cleaning while a baby's asleep.--Emily Bedard ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Good and Bad points
I've had this sweeper for a few years now and have found this to be a usefull product for quick pick up after meals in the dining room(with a messy pre-schooler and toddler) and as a good quick brush up between vacuumings. While this doesn't replace a vacuum cleaner by any means, it does a decent job for it's purpose. The pockets in which mess is deposited are easy to flip to dump in the trash. This pickes up rice, cheerios, bits of paper, some dirt, cracker crumbs, ect prety well. Don't expect it to get anything *in* the carpet fibers.

However, it has not stood up well with use. The two roller brushes which pick up stuff fall out often now since the plastic sides of the sweeper have become warped. The rollers are held in by a simple tab in hole design, and this is rather flimsy. Because of this, I haven't been able to use it much since it developed this problem.

It still has it's use as a fun cleaning toy for my kids though. While I vacuum my 3yo son likes to use the sweeper to imitate me vacuuming. It's light enough that he can push it around with ease and practice saying "'scuse me peese" lol :-). So, for the investment which isn't too much, I got a usefull sweeper which held up for about a year, which could be graduated to a toy after it wore out.

5-0 out of 5 stars WOW
THIS SWEEPER IS WONDERFUL.
I HAVE A VERY HAIRY DOG THAT SHEDS ALOT.IT'S WONDERFUL ON CARPET AND TILE. GREAT FOR THE MESSES DONE BY THE HUSBAND WHO INSISTS ON WHEARING HIS DIRTY OLD WORK BOOTS AND TRACK DIRT AND MUD ALL OVER THE HOUSE, AND EVEN GREAT FOR KIDS WHO LOVE EATING WHILE THEY'RE WALKING ALL AROUND THE HOUSE. BOTH MY KIDS 3 & 5 LOVE SEEING CRUMBS ON THE FLOOR, AND CLEANING THEIR OWN MESSES. I LOVE IT. GREAT CHRISTMAS PRESENTS.

2-0 out of 5 stars disappointed
While the sweeper does do an excellent job of sweeping up everything on the kitchen floor, the next time you use it it dumps most of the debris back on the floor. I have tried emptying the containers, rolling and using the comb to clean the bottom. No luck. It still dumps dirt on the floor at the beginning of each use. You then have to sweep over the pile several times to get it picked up again. The handle also has come apart but that I can live with. The base of the unit is a large square and even though I have a large floor it would be more useful if it was smaller and more rectangular. If you have a small kitchen floor that is not an open rectangle for cleaning the size may be a problem. I should probably have sent it back since it is more work to clean with it. But I keep hoping I can figure out why it is dumping debris. If I could get it to stop doing it it would be useful.

2-0 out of 5 stars good idea not well made
as mentioned by someone else.
the parts ofthe handle keep falling apart.
and the cleaning tool keeps falling off.
some debris falls through the bottom through cracks.

but it still has been a great help in cleaning up from infants after feeding (cherrios, crumbs etc..)

I am now looking for a different model by either same or different company, which does not havethese problems.

Designed for bare surfaces and carpets, the Bissell Sturdy Sweep carpet sweeper keeps floors clear of dirt, lint, crumbs, and debris, all without the weight of an engine or the tether of a power cord. The unit operates quietly, using strategically placed brushes to sweep up particles into the generous twin dustpans. Lightweight in action, the sweeper has a slim handle that reclines to horizontal for reaching under beds and sofas and includes a comfortable no-slip grip. Both the handle and the floor pan are crafted from steel for long-lasting durability, and a thick rubber bumper protects furniture legs. 3-0 out of 5 stars This is a light-weight machine...
...and meant only for light-weight tasks. If you think of it as a very powerful, rechargeable-type vacuum, you won't be disappointed. Of course, as it's corded, it doesn't suffer from the limitations of those battery operated machines. However, it will work adequately well only on small areas of carpet (spot cleaning) or on hardwood, vinyl or tile floors.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best [$$] spent this year!!
This item was in my goldbox and I ordered it on a whim..I love it!! It's just what we needed with 2 kids under 2 and 2 long haired cats. It picks up cheerios and cat hair like a pro! It's easy to maneuver and picks up great along the edges of trim and under dishwasher, fridge and stove since it's so low. It's only so-so on carpet, but it will pick up lint and crumbs, if they're not deep into the pile.
Don't get me wrong, I love my Rainbow vacuum, but this is sooo much easier in a hurry and with kids around and half the house being linoleum or tile, that's what matters!

2-0 out of 5 stars Not a good vacuum for carpet
This vacuum sucks, but not very well. It doesn't pick up anything on our bad-quality apartment carpet. It's hard to push and messy to empty. We purchased it because it looked easy to store. However, our carpets are a mess and my husbands begging for a new vacuum.

5-0 out of 5 stars Champion Lightweight
This little machine works wonders on hardwood floors, ceramic tile floors and area rugs. It's also light enough to vacuum furniture. Easy to clean dust cup. Love it!! ... Read more
