Get a Better (Working) Product
...Now, I don't know, maybe it was just the particular one that I bought but the waffles were coming out perfect on the bottom but on the top, it was as if the iron wasn't even on. When I went to return it at the store, I saw another 3 people in line to do the same thing, so I'm thinking someone forgot to plug something into the right spot on this waffle maker while it was going through the assembly line.

Hope you all have better luck than me with this!

A great product--you WILL use it!
Afraid of getting another small appliance that you never use? If so, this waffle baker is for you! The waffle baker stores easily (either flat or on its side), sets up in seconds, and takes only a brief wipe with a paper towel to clean. When you plug it in, it takes several minutes to heat up, with an indicator light that goes out when the unit is ready. The light comes back on when you pour in the batter and similarly goes out when the waffle is done, making for perfect waffles that are completely non-stick every time. It takes a bit of practice to learn exactly how much batter to pour in, but once you figure it out, you'll never have any leakage and all of your waffles will be uniform. I've used the iron with both homemade batter and batter from a mix, and it works very well with either type. The only downside I've found is that once the waffles are made, it's best to eat them immediately, as the bottoms start to get soggy the longer they sit. Luckily, this is rarely a problem, because we always DO eat them right away! This is a great, inexpensive, easy-to-use product that I recommend highly.

Not really a waffle iron
Admittedly this is a pretty inexpensive machine. Trouble is that the waffles it makes just really aren't.....waffles. I think that this machine is pretty much destined to stay in the cupboard. If you are chasing the taste of real waffles buy a real iron, or go to IHOP.

The Yummiest Waffles Ever!!!
I purchased this waffle iron last week from amazon, due to the amazing price. The waffle maker has exceeded my expectations for the low price!!!! The waffle maker is quick, and easy to use, and clean. The only downfall is that the waffles have a consistency more of a pancake than a waffle, maybe due to the light wave pattern, not the traditional waffle pattern. I don't know if it's because of the batter I used, or if its totally due to the waves. All in all, it is worth every penny! Don't miss out on this great offer!!!! :-)

Exactly halfway between a waffle and a pancake...
Picked up one of these, and a conventional wafflemaker, a few months ago when Amazon was blowing out all sorts of small kitchen appliances for cheap. The Toastmaster is easy to use and clean, but the "waffle" it produces is rather nontraditional. It's more like a pancake/waffle hybrid---large and round, somewhat floppy, with only a slightly crispy finish. Tastes good, yes, but if you're looking for the syrup-hoarding nooks and crannies of a Belgian waffle, look elsewhere.

Great, low-priced waffle Iron. I only bough becuase i need $10 for free Super Saver Shipping, but it was worth the $20. It takes about 3-4 minutes per waffle. IF only it ould make them a little crispier on the outside...

Nice Baker
The waffle-maker is worth the price since it can be used also for making very nice large cookie waffers for ice cream and other desserts. My first use was a modified chocolate cookie recipe minus the fat so it needed non-stick spray for each one. The teflon coating is not as slippery as it is on some appliances, so count on using spray oil even though it indicates it is an option. An on/off switch would be nice. ... Read more

Good Waffles
I like to make waffles, but I don't get as much use out of this as I hoped when I bought it.

IMPROVEMENT: Ability to switch out plates for waffles, sandwiches and pizelles. It may cost a little more, but it would have saved me the money of having to buy 3 separate kitchen items.

Soggy awful waffle maker
I bought this because my children love waffles. I used the recipe that came with the unit. The waffles came out soggy and tasted eggy (recipe calls for 3 eggs per cup of flour!) I tried other recipes, same result. This is a BAD BAD machine!

Uneven cooking
After 25 years our GE waffle iron started showing signs that we needed to replace it. Our compaison of the Toastmaster 218 is based on the years of excellent waffles we have been used to.

Although compact and easy to use, the heating was very uneven. The center of the waffle baker towards the handle was dark, and the corners very light. The waffles were on the soggy side, and not crisp on the outside like they were with the GE. If we let them cook longer, they became dried out. We used one of our favorite waffle recipies that worked great with the GE.

For someone new to waffles, this may be an okay waffle iron, but for someone that truely loves a good waffle, stay away from this one.

This thing is Great
What's so hard about making waffles? Do yourself a favor. Get this and try it. I love it. Kicking myself for waiting so long.

I HAVE USED THIS WAFFLE IRON WITH GREAT SUCCESS. THE ONLY THING I DO THAT ISN'T PART OF THE DIRECTIONS IS TO SPRAY THE COOKING SURFACES WITH A SPRAY NON-STICK COOKING OIL. Makes excellent waffles
This waffle maker is so simple to use and it makes excellent Belgian waffles. I'd recommend you go to the store and buy a special waffle mix, they are not expensive. This is also an excellent product for those trying to eat healthy. The price of this wafflemaker is also very good. Great for families too, because it makes a lot of waffles in one batch.

Very nice
I was unsure about using this waffle iron based on the not so great reviews, but I found it good. The waffles came out nice and brown and not soggy at all. Dont fill up the iron too much or it'll overspill.

Great Waffle maker!
I love this waffle, and the price was great too!

Super easy to use (and that is saying something, since I still haven't used the breadmaker I rec'd for x-mas, simply because it looks too complicated :-) If you season lightly with crisco,
non-stick as well. Batter only runs out the sides if you use too much-- I just pour it in the middle of the waffle maker, which does lead to funny looking waffles, but no mess. A great product at a great price

Yes, you need to watch out when pouring to avoid too much run-off, and yes, it would be nice if the plates were removable, but other than that this is a lovely wafflemaker. I also recommend the recipe for Basic Waffles in "The Joy of Cooking" and real maple syrup!

Too much clean up!
This Waffle Iron makes truly delicious waffles. The kids loved them. They absolutely love waffles now. It's so easy to use and make waffles. And as other people have stated, "they're moist on the inside and crisp on the outside". It stays nice and cool and the lights made my waffles foolproof.

The only complaint I had was the mess. Tried different amounts of batter (think it called for 1/4 cup per section. No matter how har I tried, I ended up with batter running down the side and on the counter. Would not reccomend! ... Read more

don't bother
This waffle iron works, but not well. The steam generated during cooking gets trapped in the casing, condensing inside the machine and causing a steaming of the waffles, rather than a proper baking. And I wonder if that will shorten its lifespan. Also, the heating elements are not powerful enough to provide the proper "lift" to the batter during cooking.
