5-0 out of 5 stars Great Deep Fryer
I just got my deep fryer, pulled it out of the box and hooked it up. In about 5 mins the oil was hot enough to cook my fries. I have not had any problems with the unit at all. The unit heats the oil very fast and has an indicator light when its ready. It has several unique safety features built in. Food comes out great. The best deep fryer I have ever owned.

    -Update

Had my deep fryer for about 2 months, and to look back I dont know how I got along without it. The Fryer heats up to a marked temperature of 375 degrees, and will shut off if its gets over like 550. I have gotten tremendous use out of this fryer and it has definently paid for itself from less power, and time saved. I am still very happy with the heat up time and, how fast it recovers its temperature.

4-0 out of 5 stars Best Deep Fryer I've Ever Owned
I've only had this a short time and only used it a few times, but here are my impressions thus far.

    PROS:

Attractive, durable construction. Wire basket is excellent; handle folds inside basket for compast storage inside the unit.

Lid is well thought-out, with silicone lined notches on the handle end so it fits snuggly and you don't have to lift it to raise or lower the basket.

Cleanup is fairly easy. Toss lid and basket in the dishwasher, drain the oil reservoir using the convenient corner pour spout (use a large funnel if straining, because one gallon gets heavy after awhile) and put the reservoir into the dishwasher. Everything except the heating element is immersible. I put the element on a plate to let it drain and then wipe it clean.

Oil heats up rapidly. The deep reservoir keeps splattering to a minimum. Food cooks fairly close to times indicated in recipes or on boxes, so I assume temperature is accurate. Fries came out crisp, mozarella sticks were done perfectly.

Number one advantage: because this has an immersible heating element (it's big, not like one you'd attach to an electric skillet), the oil temp below the element is cooler; thus all the burned bits fall down there, so you can cook batches of fries without getting floating debris stuck to them.

Maximum temperature is 375, but the manual says it has a safety feature whereby it automatically turns off if the oil exceeds 525. The safety features are great, like the short magnetically attached cord. It's secure enough so that it doesn't come loose when you move the unit but if someone were to pull the cord, it would break away from the unit.

The basket hanger inside the unit is handy for draining.

Lid seems to catch the condensation.

    CONS:

    My cons are pretty insignficant.

My main one would be that the oil cools significantly when you add significant quantities of food (even unfrozen food) and takes too long to heat up. For example, I did a batch of fresh fries, and the oil cooled but didn't heat up to the correct temperature in the four minutes it took to cook them. When I did a very small batch of fries, the oil temp. never dropped.

When I set the timer for under three minutes, it never went off. Everything over that was fine, however.

If you make something like corndogs, lower basket first and drop directly into oil or it will definitely stick to basket. Sometimes it sticks to basket anyway. Then the basket is a little harder to clean. I had to use a fork to poke the crust out of some of the holes.

Biggest drawback: Filter in lid cannot be removed and replaced. The fliter in the lid isn't the greatest. It's not a charcoal one, for example, that would readily absorb all the cooking odors. It seems to be a steel mesh thing. It's welded in and although you can clean it through the "gills" on the lid, you cannot replace it. Being able to remove and clean/replace the filter would be better. This one doesn't seem to trap odors well.

But these are small issues. I really like the deep fryer and it's a million times better than the old "Fry Daddy" my parents had growing up. It never splatters outside the deep fryer, it's easy to clean, and the food comes out far superior to any deep fryer I've ever used, which I believe is because the crumbs fall to the bottom of the unit.

Definitely worth the price--it costs my family $20 each time we go to McDonald's, so this will pay for itself easily. Last night my kids said "Mom, we don't ever have to go out to eat again because you can make all our favorite foods now."

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Home Deep Fryer Ever
This is by far the best home deep fryer ever. I have owned a number of different deep fryers, and have never been totally satisfied with their ability to fry well. This Waring deep fryer does what many fryers can not - it holds its temperature when you place the food in it to be fried. Therefore, the food comes out crispy and delicious. Chicken nuggets come out crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. Corn Dogs are a treat in this fryer. The basket is sturdy, the unit is well insulated, and the controls are easy to use. Clean up is easy as almost all the parts (except the heating element/controls) are dishwasher safe. The only negative is that the unit is big and requires lots of oil, but that is also a positive, as little units can't fry much, let alone even hold a corn dog or other large item. If you love deep fried foods, you'll love this Waring Deep Fryer.

5-0 out of 5 stars Can't be beat.
This is a PERFECT machine. Don't waste your money on cheaper fryers.

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally! A great home fryer!
Before purchasing this unit, I examined every other fryer marketed, in hand. Other companies offer quite similar units at first glance, but in the end, this one has no peer. While indeed one of the most costly, its combination of well-designed features is easily worth the additional 20-30 Dollars over competitive fryers.

It's very big and, at 1800 robust watts, is as powerful as most modern kitchens can accommodate... If your kitchen isn't wired with 20-amp grounded outlets within two feet of its resting place, you should consider a 1500-watt unit from another maker, as it may trip your breaker or work at less than peak performance. Better yet, have your kitchen wired accordingly.

It demands lots of space, but should fit on the average counter, though I'd recommend that it not be placed beneath cabinets, or within a foot from them, as they will indeed take a beating from vapor and grease. I placed it on a cookie sheet on top of my range, beneath the exhaust hood, but be sure you have no lit pilot lamps or burners, which would pose a serious fire hazard. Its well-designed magnetic breakaway safety cord will reach slightly more than 2 feet. An extension is NOT recommended, and any extension of less amperage capacity than a very short, 12-gauge cord would seriously deplete the wattage and cause a fire hazard, and overheat the appliance. Again, do it right and have a stout 20-amp receptacle within range.

The construction of the fryer is outstanding. The unit's mass and features evoked an involuntary guttural grunt from me when I looked at it in my kitchen for the first time, and my wife issued a concurring female grunt. Everything breaks down easily for cleaning in seconds. All parts except the heating module are dishwasher-safe. Even then, the elements can be sloshed in hot detergent and rinsed easily. The heating element is sturdy and suspends well off the bottom of the heavy gauge stainless steel tub, thus the tub bottom won't scorch and food particles remain an easily dissolved paste. The tub has a pouring corner that works well when recanting the nearly full gallon of oil it's designed to take. If allowed to cool and settle overnight, no filtering is required. As a hint, once used, oil should be refrigerated to prevent rancidity. The heating module has a reset button, in the event the element temperature exceeds 525° degrees, though I can't see why that would occur unless the pot was accidentally empty. It maintains the selected temperature very well and has two pilot lights that signify when the unit is on, and when temperature has been reached. The industrial On-Off stalk-type toggle switch snaps smartly, as one would arm a missile system. The two dials are solidly made and turn smoothly. The basket is very sturdy and has a fold-in handle for storage. The lid sits in a nicely designed collection ridge that directs all condensation or spatter to a removable collection receptacle... and it works. The design allows immersion and lifting of the basket from and to its solid resting hook with the lid on, though the manufacturer suggests that some foods be started without the lid. The glass window is large and easily allows inspection of the cooking progress without removal of the lid, and stays remarkable clear during cooking. Everything about this appliance is there for a reason, with no gadgetry, and nothing is lacking.

Anything I could say about cooking performance would be an understatement. In short, it fried a whole chicken in three quick batches, to crispy, juicy perfection, and not a single drop of fat landed on my counter during the cooking process. It can easily accommodate an undivided half chicken. It cleaned up fast and easily. Most highly recommended!

A few polite words about the cons in another review are in order...

The timer does function down to less than three minutes, very nicely. Just as my grandmother did with her old egg timer, simply turn it beyond ten minutes to catch the spring and turn it back to whatever suits.

The heavy gauge screen on top is NOT a filter, nor is it purported to be. It's designed to allow vapor to escape, while blocking spatter, and it works beautifully and washes beautifully. Odor control is the function of an outside emitting exhaust hood, which should be a standard fixture in any kitchen.

As another reviewer wisely suggested, fries should be double-fried if crispiness is desired. Simply fry for about 3 minutes, then raise the basket for 30 seconds or so, re-immerse and continue until done.

Finally, battered or doughy foods should always be placed directly into the oil, with the basket submerged, or they will adhere to the basket. These are both well-known commercial frying techniques.

This is as good as technology gets for a home fryer. For more capacity or power than this extremely well designed appliance, one would have to obtain a 240-volt commercial fryer from a restaurant supply. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A little pricey but the last one you will ever buy
Let me start by saying that we have owned several Belgian waffle makers over the years. Some were less expensive electric models (yuch!) and the latest was a rather expensive non-stick cast iron stove top model. They all had one thing in common...the degree of browning on the waffle was always a guessing game.
We found the Waring Pro waffle maker being used by one of our favorite hotel chains that offers a free breakfast and knew that we had to have one. We watched a long line of people use it and everyone was very satisfied with a waffle that was done to a consistent medium brown, crisp on the outside and soft and moist on the inside. After purchasing the Waring Pro from Amazon.com, I can easily say that we are able to make even better waffles using the Classic Waffles recipe provided with the machine. While not the quickest recipe to make, these have to be the lightest waffles you will ever eat with DEEP pockets to trap any topping you want to put on them.
The Waring Pro has to be commended for its consistency and ease of use. Unlike lesser machines, you are able to set the machine to your desired level of browning(level 4 is a good starting point)and the green light will indicate when pre-heating has been achieved. Add the batter with the enclosed measuring scoop, rotate the waffle iron 180 degrees and the beeper tells you when it's done. Simply the BEST Belgian waffle maker you can buy. Don't waste your money on several cheap Belgian waffle makers as we did. This is the last one you will ever need to buy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous!
This waffle maker is the best. If you love waffles this is worth the extra bucks over a cheap department store waffle maker. Perfect, light and crispy waffles in no time, every time...and we haven't even tried it for breakfast yet. Stylish and efficient, easy cleanup, looks great on your counter. We haven't even bothered trying any of the recipes that come with it, just used a $2.00 Belgian waffle mix that is oh so good and easy to make. Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars So far so good
This waffle maker was given to me for father's day, and we had perfect waffles right away.

I was surprised just how fast it made waffles. We had outgrown our original because our family has grown to five. With this model, we couldn't eat them fast enough. I imagine the balance will change when we get teenagers in the house, but I was impressed. The beeper on this unit made it so I could pour the batter, sit down and eat, and only get up when the next one was ready. There was no need to monitor the baker, or even to peak between the top and bottom to check if it was done.

    The non-stick surface worked well.

One nice consequence of the rotation feature is that the waffles cling to the upper iron when the baker is opened. This means that gravity helps you remove the waffle, making it easier.

So far I have no complaints.

By the way, we made a family buckwheat recipe and it worked well.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Waffler
After losing my old General Electric waffle maker in the divorce (a 50's model still churning out great waffles, sob) I was looking for a replacement waffler. After reading several other reviews on traditional waffle makers I saw the review on this one and thought I'd give it a chance and was floored. It's all they said and more. I actually had to turn it over to see that it was made in China not USA. I don't think this thing can make a bad waffle. Even the first one (batter was too thick and I missed the beep) which stayed in way too long was good!

    5-0 out of 5 stars It's not just a waffle maker....it's a dream maker!
My family and I travel quite a bit and fell in love with waffles from a certain COMFORTABLE INN and we asked the staff for info on the waffle maker and the waffle mix. They directed us to www.goldenmalted.com for both, however we found the waffle maker cheaper here at Amazon. The mix is incredibly good too. One secret I would like everyone to keep in mind is that the waffle maker comes with directions that say to spray the maker with nonstick spray, however the folks that make the waffle mix said never to spray it, but to add two tablespoons of melted butter to your mix and it will not stick. Well we have never sprayed our waffle maker and we have never had a waffle stick! It only takes about 2 minutes to make each waffle and we fed my husbands squadron using it and they were blown away by the quality and taste! One night we had waffles for dinner, the kids thought we had gone insane but they loved it! I told you this waffle was a dream maker, well I brought this waffle maker as a Valentine present for my spouse and thanks to the delicious waffles, we had the most wonderful night of waffle making you could believe! We highly recommend this waffle maker as a great morning after treat too. BUY IT!!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a real blender
I bought this to replace a Kitchen Aid.
The Kitchen Aid uses a coupler on top of the motor which spins the blade that's made out of rubber over metal which will break if you make lots of frozen fruit drinks. That's what I had happen.
The Waring uses the same type of design, but the difference is that you can buy a replacement ($5.95) and put it on yourself with a wrench If it were to ever come apart. The Kitchen Aid has to be serviced, take apart the motor to get to it from the inside etc.

This Waring Blender is very powerful! It's loud and spins very fast. Which makes it blend in a fraction of the time of others. It makes my old Kitchen-Aid seem like a childs toy in comparison.

It's much more obviously commercial through heft, simplicity of design and function and servicability.

It has only 2 speeds. Professional chefs say that's all you need. it has a simple toggle switch, no multiple speed electronic gimmics. Just very functional.

I originally really wanted a glass container. It provided some heft to my old Kitchen-Aid and I thought that it was a sign of higher quality.
For a commercial application you would prefer the unbreakable quality of the polycarbon plastic as well as the lack of weight. It's light as a feather.

I was also concerned that the blade being permenantly mounted inside the container would be hard to clean. (actually you can take it apart with a deep socket and extension, not for cleaning but blade replacement). My Kitchen Aids came apart for cleaning and I could put it in the dishwasher. I find the cleaning instruction are easy with the Waring, actually simple to clean you should just do it right away once your done mixing. Less time to clean and assemble.

What I see now with comparing this to the kitchen-Aid besides what I've already mentioned, is that the Kitchen-Aid looks simple through it's visual design. It's over designed through what appear to be valuable features which only make it more complicated. You have to do more work from cleaning, assembling and servicing.
The Waring on the other hand is bare bones functional. It was designed to blend and be easily serviced and quickly cleaned.

5-0 out of 5 stars the blender of kings
I've had mine for over a month and thus far it has performed flawlessly. It will digest an entire tray of large ice cubes in roughly 3 seconds on the "low" setting (not exaggerating). I haven't even used it on "high" yet. Classy looks, quality construction, but yes- extremely loud. I keep a pair of earplugs next to mine.

5-0 out of 5 stars Rock Crusher
    Several facts:

    - 1 HP motor (on low setting this thing will crush rocks)
    - All parts are serviceable / replaceable (just like any good industrial piece of equipment)
    - Will pulverize ice drinks (margaritas) in about three seconds
    - Made in USA!

I got lucky and found as an out-of-box special at my local Fry's electronics store for $99.90 - stole it. This is last blender I will own in my lifetime, what is that worth?

Yes you could spend less, and get an average household blender. But how often can you afford the best? Can you afford the best car in world, the best house??? ... Read more

    Amazon.com Review

Juicing is a healthful way to eat fruits and veggies, and the Waring Juice Extractor takes juicing to the next level. A high-speed 400-watt motor makes the extraction process efficient, and makers of carrot juice will especially appreciate the brushed stainless-steel housing--the extractor won't turn orange with age.

Everyone who's ever owned a juicer knows that cleanup is the biggest downfall of home juicing. With the Waring, that won't be an issue--the compact strainer, pulp collector, lid, and juice collector are all dishwasher-safe, and the stainless-steel body wipes clean with a sponge. The extractor's die-cast base stays steady on the countertop, and its cushioned feet will minimize vibration, protecting the countertop from scratches. The extractor comes with an instruction book, a five-year limited warranty on the motor, and a one-year limited appliance warranty. --Ariel Meadow Stallings ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Value For The Money
I will start by saying that I am not an expert on juicers. However, I know a good kitchen appliance when I try it. I just tried this juicer and I made a variety of juices. It handled everything I wanted it to do very well. Some juice from the oranges I juiced did not drain into the cup, but I am told that is to be expected. It kind of hung out at the bottom of the "basket" with the pulp. This seems to be a very powerful, economical, and easy to clean juicer. I was impressed at how quickly and easily it was doing the vegetables, especially the carrots. The basket and surroundings pop out for easy cleaning. A minus is that some juice tends to leak out the front seam near the top of the appliance at times (especially with the oranges). Over all, I would recommend this juicer to anyone who wants a cheap but good appliance.

4-0 out of 5 stars Easy to Use, Quick Clean-Up, Good Looks & Solid Construction
Since purchasing this extractor 6 weeks ago, I have used this on a daily basis. Ease of clean-up was critical in the selection process and I haven't been disappointed. Aesthetically, this machine looks nice on the kitchen counter and the stainless steel cup eliminates any worries about ending up with yellowed, stained plastic parts.

If you're interested in making primarily OJ, this may not be the right juicer for you, though. If you're juicing strictly oranges, you'll have to empty out the pulp basket after 2 oranges. Any more than two and this is the one scenario that will make this juicer leak. I have found that by alternating oranges with apples or carrots, I can juice 6+ oranges in one session.

Fortunately, our local discount club started selling these for 1/2 of retail so I got a great deal. Regardless, this would have been an excellent purchase.

1-0 out of 5 stars Get an older model...
I really can't understand why usually newer products aren't as good as older ones.
What's wrong with the older design of an aextractor that will eject the pulp to a removable container?

Why do I have to open the unit and take it apart just to clear the pulp?

Buttom line: If you plan to juice more than a few carrots for you morning juice - forget about this usit.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Juicer with some minor limitations.
This is probably the 4th juicer I have owned and the most powerful. My last juicer was the LeQuip Model 221 juicer ($200 list). The Waring is better. It is well made, and has a very cool design, easy to take apart and assemble. The stainless steel adds to its quality. Very powerful motor makes juicing easy and fast.

Drawbacks: Having a self-contained pulp collector instead of a pulp ejection chute is definitely a drawback, but I have found I can make about a quart of juice (celery, carrot and beet combination) before having to empty it. The motor is also a little louder than I am used to. The pulp collector is also a little difficult to clean, requiring me to become creative in doing so. Instead of scooping out the pulp by hand, I have to use a flexible spatula and/or just bang it against the side of the garbage can, and then rinse it.

The LeQuip has an external pulp collector, and longer warranty, but the Waring is better. The Waring juices faster and is more stable, easier to take apart, clean and reassemble. The LeQuip is reminiscent of a "Rube Goldberg" design and "walks" across my counter-top when in use, and overall, was a real production to use and clean.

Overall, the Waring is a great deal - I paid about $49 (including shipping on Ebay) for a refurbished unit and so far I am happy with my purchase. I have seen others who have paid the same or less for a new unit.

For making fresh juice daily for one or two people, this is a great juicer. Would be the best first juicer for someone as well.

5-0 out of 5 stars great stuff!
works like a charm, cleans easy too. makes outstanding apple and orange juice and can handle seed, core et all (but peel oranges, obviously :-)) . haven't yet tried the softer fruits (grapes, tomatoes, etc) though. costco has it for $49. great buy! ... Read more

    Amazon.com Review

Before the teams take the field, this basic, one-speed, 12-volt blender gets the party going. Whip up margaritas, smoothies, and daiquiris or make dips for the chips right in the stadium parking lot. Waring is a respected name in blenders, so it's no surprise they were thoughtful enough to devise a bender that facilitates a movable feast. The key is the plug at the end of a 14-foot cord: it plugs into a vehicle's cigarette lighter. That means icy cocktails, ice-cream shakes, and other drinks can be fashioned on a tailgate or picnic table or anywhere a vehicle can go. The 6-cup, pitcher-shaped container is tough plastic so it can be dropped on asphalt without damage. Fully assembled, the blender stands 14-1/2 inches high on a 7-inch-diameter, bright chrome base. --Fred Brack ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Low power is to be expected at 12 Volts
It does an average job with crushing ice to make frozen drinks. It can't be compared to a 125 volt AC blender however.
You get a few small chunks of ice in the drink.I had to buy a manual ice crusher to crush the ice first then you get the consistency most people like .This is as good as it gets for outdoor drink making unlees you go to the gas powered blenders.(That's next )

1-0 out of 5 stars why would anyone buy this?
For a Waring blender, the price seems ridiculous for what it's selling. It comes with a PLASTIC container and LOW power. Although I understand that this blender was made for outdoors, I don't think any professional would actually use this nor do I think it's a smart idea to be blending outdoors - don't you got better things to do then have a portable kitchen outdoors? In any case, a blender with such low power and a plastic container seems unworthy to be called a Waring blender. It defeats the purpose of buying from this company. ... Read more

    Amazon.com Review

Designed for the home kitchen, the Waring Pro food slicer saves you time, labor, and money by evenly and efficiently slicing meats, cheeses, vegetables, and breads. It comes in handy for preparing party platters, sandwich buffets, leftovers, and snacks. It is worthwhile to keep in mind, however, that this machine is not deli-caliber. It is intended for 10-minute intervals of slicing and easy mobility around the kitchen.

Outfitted with a 130-watt motor, the slicer features premium coated steel and die-cast aluminum housing. It has an easily adjusted slicing control knob that ranges from 1/32 to 1/2 inch and a balanced 7-1/2-inch undulated stainless-steel blade. Suction-cup feet keep it from skidding or sliding, and a polycarbonate food guide helps you direct slicing safely. The carriage surface is stainless steel. Suggested used include pepperoni, roast beef, apples, potatoes, bread, tomatoes, turkey, and onions. The slicer is UL/CUL approved and comes with a limited 5-year motor warranty from Waring. It measures 17-1/4 by 10-13/16 by 11-1/4 inches and weighs about 15 pounds. --Emily Bedard ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Avg at best
When I got this slicer, I sliced everything I could get my hands on such as apples, bagels, bell pepper, onions and so on. It worked very well slicing those items. But what I bought it for was roast beef. Even though it sliced it pretty well, it wasn't a smooth process. On the pullback after making a pass to slice, you had to hold the roast beef or it would dislodge from the holder. Maybe I had high expectations but I specifically bought it for the roast beef and it did not perform well for it. Also, the clean up was a mess. Pieces of beef got all over the place and it was very time consuming to clean everything up. Maybe it would work better with cold roast beef. I let my roast rest about 20 min before cutting.

4-0 out of 5 stars Food slicer
I have used an older model of this slicer.
You have to remove the blade using the big slotted center screw on the blade to clean up the inside of the gear/drive case. (Caution the blade is sharp!) On the model I used you also could remove the motor and basically disassemble everything else. Because of the cleaning time this is not something you would want to use to cut up a can of spam or one small roast.
Otherwise they usually work darn good cutting slices of say 5 lb deli meats and such.

2-0 out of 5 stars sliced well, impossible to really clean
The machine sliced a roast beef pretty well. However, clean-up was impossible. There was no way to remove the meat & juices that fell inside the machine. ... Read more

--Ariel Meadow Stallings

Carrots, celery, beets, cucumbers, apples--all vegetables and fruits, with the exception of citrus, go into this powerful, compact juicer's feed chute and come out the spout as clean, fresh juice. (Citrus fruits require an attachment that is not included with this juicer.) A stainless-steel blade chops the vegetables and fruits, and centrifugal force--just as your high school physics teacher promised--spins the juice from the pulp and through a strainer before it pours from the spout. Disposable paper filters (included), useful for soft fruits, can be placed inside the strainer to further filter juice. Pulp can be employed to flavor soups, casseroles, breads, cakes, and sauces. Or it can go into the compost pile. Twisting off the cover opens the juicer for simple disassembly and cleaning. The cover and bowl can go in the dishwasher; other parts must be hand washed. --Fred Brack ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent commercial quality juicer !
I have used many juicers in the past, and this one is by far the highest of quality. First of all, since this juicer does not have a pulp ejection system, the pulp actually spins in the juicer yielding about 30% more juice for your drinking pleasure. The filters make cleanup really simple. My favorite point about the juicer is the quality construction. They use stainless steel for most of the upper housing. Filters are available locally. It's a great way to start your day, and hopefully for years to come. Happy juicing!

3-0 out of 5 stars Don't add liquids while juicing...
I loved that my juicer, the one I've wanted for so long but hadn't had the gumption to order, was not only available from your web sight, but that it arrived on New Year's Eve day! That meant that I could finish out the year with a healthy, delicious bang!!
It was great! I had so much excited energy that day. Every day since then I have made myself and my husband (the whole juicer concept was new to him) a yummy glass of carrot, celery, bell pepper, spinach and tomato juice.
I want to make you aware of a danger I encountered, though, when I thought I'd water down the mixture a bit and pour a little water into the spout. It would also help rinse any remaining juice out of the juicer and into my glass.
    The entire thing began vibrating,and doing a sort-of shimmy-walk
on the counter, until the top shook completely off, flying violently and landing behind the juicer and not into my face, thankfully.
I had to do something quickly so I pulled the plug out. The pulp inside had,I guess, been loosened and made unbalanced causing the same effect as an unbalanced load of wash has on the washer! Whew! Scarry for a few seconds...but I know now not to put any liquids into the juicer! It would have been helpful for the manufacturer to have added that info. to the user's manual.
I do love my juicer, though. I will continue to use it every day,and today I was given two grocery bags of fresh oranges so tomorrow I will use the citrus juice attachment.

5-0 out of 5 stars I think this juicer is amazing
I got this juicer as a gift yesterday. I used to have a Hamilton Beach cheap juicer that was pretty terrible:
it was miserable to clean, and when I put the plastic in the dishwasher it warped, which meant that from then on the juicer would shower my kitchen with carrot bits since the plastic thingy that holds the waste couldn't fit right again.
This juicer is a whole 'nother thing: the motor is amazingly powerful, the machine in general is solid and well-made, meaning it doesn't leak, and seems pretty easy to clean.
I'm not sure why some people don't seem to like it. True, it vibrates a hell of a lot, especially if the spinning centrifugal-rotor gets off-center, something like a washer or dryer would.
But the flipside of this design is that the extracted fruit or vegetable bits that keep getting spun around means more juice is extracted (as opposed to other juicers that throw the waste into a separate compartment right away).

The only negative thing I see is that citrus requires another attachment, but most juicers seem to be either citrus or vegetable, with attachments sold separately.
I recommend this juicer. Very solid and well-made.

1-0 out of 5 stars Warning: this juicer is a weapon
I loved this juicer the first couple of times i used it, it was much much better than my juiceman junior in every possible way (easy to clean, decent noise level, dry pulp, etc) until i had a very unpleasant surprise. As some other people said, the juicer started vibrating and the lid became loose, the noise it made almost gave me an heart attack. Even after turning the juicer off, it took a few minutes for the motor to stop so it kept making that scary noise. I even left the room, i was afraid that the blade could somehow detach itself and hit me.

Had it not been for this design flaw, i'd have given it 4 or 5 star. If you wanna buy it for yourself, go ahead, you've been warned but please, do not ever let anyone else use it or worse, don't give it to someone as a gift. I think it should be taken off the market, it's too dangerous.

5-0 out of 5 stars Clarification to earlier review
    A word of warning:
The second time I used this juicer, I got a little surprise.
Can you imagine what happens when the lid of a 500-something watt juicer becomes loose and falls off?
It's very Not Good. It sprayed apple juice and bits pretty much all over my kitchen. I've just finished cleaning the walls of apple.

See, the lid is only kept on with two little metal tabs, and you have to rotate the lid counter-clockwise only a tiny bit to remove it. Well, the vibration of the machine itself seems to sometimes turn the lid, and...presto...it's not good. So, a warning to the uninitiated...hold the lid in place yourself or at least watch that it doesn't move. In my case the lid actually vibrated itself open, then was violently thrown off by the spinning interior, bending one of the little metal tabs almost 90 degrees straight up, landing on the glass that was collecting the juice (which didn't break, thank God) and making generally a real mess. I had to bend the metal tab down again to get the lid to fit right.

I still like the juicer, but watch that the lid doesn't come off! ... Read more

Just the size and weight of this blender indicates it is a professional grade workhorse. Weighing 15 pounds and standing 19 inches tall, with an oversized base measuring 9 inches square, the blender takes on a prodigious appearance. The supercharged three-horsepower motor and large blades will crush ice with ease and smoothly blend fruit drinks and soups. Only two speeds, high and low, are available, which should cover most needs. The pulse feature is ideal for creating large-particle foods such as homemade salsa and gazpacho.

Squared in shape, the tough polycarbonate pitcher features a very generous nonslip handle and holds 64 ounces of cold liquid, less if hot. The flexible lid presses tightly in place and features a central clear cap that turns and releases to open for adding foods. Two paddle-shape switches make operation easy even if hands are wet. The removable pad that covers the top of the blender base to add nonslip cushioning for the pitcher can be tossed in the dishwasher for cleaning. The four broad legs of the blender are also made of nonslip material to help prevent sliding and make pick-up secure. Because the blade assembly does not unscrew from the pitcher for separate cleaning, the blender pitcher should be washed thoroughly with hot soapy water and a soft scrub brush after each use. 3-0 out of 5 stars Okay blender, looks better than it functions
We couldn't find the rubber gasket to replace in our old blender, so we requested and got this for one Christmas. It matched our kitchen, but doesn't match up to the old blender. It's not good at making pesto or other heavier sauces. It's good for whipping up drinks, but so far, not much else. I just tried to make a chocolate frosting, and the Joy of Cooking says you can do it in a blender, but I had to put it in a bowl and hand whip it. Form over function. Also, difficult to clean.

1-0 out of 5 stars What a disappoinment
I have owned this blender for 6 months. I have used it to blend diet drinks and milkshakes. I used it today to make a thick milkshake and it died on me. I have bought much cheaper blenders in the past and they have outlasted this blender by far. I plan to stick with the cheaper blenders from now on.

4-0 out of 5 stars I've enjoyed this blender.
I bought one as a birthday present for myself three years ago. It's almost exactly the ones my grandmother and mother got rid of to replace with cheap plastic ones--they thought it was too heavy. They had theirs for years, used them a lot, and they were still working just fine when they replaced them. I have my grandmother's Waring Blender Cookbook that came with hers when she got it after WWII. Cool.

It will do everything you want it to except it's not too hot at crushing large ice cubes. I have never experienced any problems with the motor. It's also easy to clean if you fill it 1/4 full of water, a couple of drops of detergent, and blend. I have used it for gazpacho, daquiris, milkshakes, salvaging lumpy gravy, juicing all kinds of fruit (I don't even peel oranges)and vegetables, etc.

Just don't drop that heavy glass container on your foot!

4-0 out of 5 stars First Blender
My girlfriend had wanted a blender for a long time. Finally she bought a Hamilton-Beach 12spd blender which worked well, but didn't crush ice very well. It was still a good blender and served her well. One day her roommate broke her blender and didn't offer to replace it. So I took it as an opportunity to replace my girlfriend's old one (a 12spd Hamilton-Beach) with an even better one.

I don't know much about blenders and never bought one previously so I had to do some research. The criteria I had for the new blender was ability to crush ice since my girlfriend likes to make frozen drinks. Price and reliability was also a factor. I also wanted to get something in "chrome" finish because I think they are classy looking. The number of speeds weren't important since I think they all do the same thing.

After doing some research, I came to the conclusion that Waring was one of the better brands available. I decided on the Waring Kitchen Classic Chrome blender and I must say that it was a great choice.

The blender works great for smoothies and is great for crushing ice. It does everything that I expected and it looks great on the countertop.

The lid fits perfectly and is not hard to put on or off. Speeds were perfect, just "hi" and "lo"....that's all you really need. The only complaint I have is that the glass container sits a little loose on the blender. The great thing about that is that it is easy to put on, but it also feels too easy to lift off.

Conclusion: Awesome blender that does everything as expected and looks great. ... Read more

    Amazon.com Review

Juice extractors are incredible for removing every last drop of liquid from most fruits and vegetables, but in order to do citrus fruits, you usually have to go through the time-consuming effort of peeling off the bitter rind before you can juice the fruit. This attachment gets rid of that hurdle by turning the Waring Professional Juice Extractor into a high-powered citrus juicer. Just cut fruit in half to juice. The reamer/strainer basket attachment fits inside the juice extractor basket. It doesn't start spinning until you press the fruit down, and it stops when the fruit is lifted off. Rinse the parts under running water after use. --Dale Steinke ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Works great, have used every day for a month now
This is a great attachment. Works well and is easy to clean, which makes quick work in the morning. Even if you do not think you will use it, get it anyway when you get your waring juicer. Thats what we did and it sat around for 3 or 4 months, then one day we decided to try it. Fresh oarnge juice in the morning is the best. If you get a case of organic oarnges from a local health food shop, they will often give you a case discount. Keeps some of the pulp, although filters out seeds. We prefer this, but if you like your oarnge juice with no pulp then you will probably want to filter it. ... Read more
