West Bend has improved on the classic corn popper design by adding a motorized stirring rod which ensures that every single kernel pops, every time. In about five minutes, the Stir Crazy Popper produces up to 6 quarts of perfectly popped corn, using one tablespoon of oil per 1/4 cup corn. It stops automatically when it's done, so you don't have to worry about burned popcorn, and you can clean it with just a quick swipe of the sponge. For added flavor, place a bit of butter in the butter well to melt over the corn as it pops. The plastic cover doubles as a serving bowl, so when the cycle is done, just flip it over to enjoy popcorn that's guaranteed to be good to the last pop. --Larisa Lomacky Moore ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Stirring Recommendation!
I'm on my second one of these, having lost one in a move many years ago.

I've had a number of popcorn poppers 'cause I'm a true fan, whether unadorned popcorn or 'fancied up'. When the hot air poppers came out about 20 years ago I bought a couple of them, but they always seem to make chewy popcorn that'll stick in the back of your throat. I've got a mint-condition Mirro aluminum electric popper from the sixties and it'll burn corn in the bottom before you can turn around.

West Bend used to make this same type popper but without the stirrer. I had that one also, and it still left a fair number of kernels at the bottom.

The stirring rod is what makes the difference with this popper. Not only will it pop more kernels in ANY brand of popcorn, but it will pop far more with the less expensive brands like Jolly Time. It's typical to get no more than a tablespoon or less of unpopped kernels. The popcorn turns out perfectly done, from the earliest to the last popped. If you look at the photo, the disc on the top is a removable cover; under there is an indention with multiple holes. You can take butter or margarine and spread it around when you set the machine up. Then, as the machine starts popping, the steam melts the butter and it goes on the corn! Or, if you prefer buttering later, just leave the lid on. When the corn is popped, you simply flip the appliance over and the large dome becomes the serving bowl.

The dome and the disc on top have been through my dishwasher dozens of times without any problem. If I hand-wash it, it always feels a little greasy. The bottom, heating part of the appliance is nonstick; you simply wipe it out with a soapy dishrag or paper towel. Couldn't be easier.

This appliance is light in weight and fits fine in one of my overhead cabinets. For only a small amount of oil, it'll make six quarts of the best popcorn you can find! Plus, its tolerance to less-expensive non-gourmet corns means you'll spend less money. Highly recommended!

5-0 out of 5 stars The only way to make perfect popcorn
Aha!! Finally a chance to tell you about best popper ever. I won one at work in `81`. Had it for 15/16 years. Worked great. Rave reviews from friends, many requests. Love the stirring rod. Hardly ever an unpopped kernel... I use 3 tbsp oil to 1/2 cup corn-- the cheap stuff. Gives a buttery flavor, without using the holes on top, and pop with the lid off. When first one bit the dust (due to negligent cleaning) went immediately to K-mart for another ( still working) Now you can't find them in stores, or websites till went to Amazon. Another thing I do is I have a can with strainer and pour bacon grease in, refridge, and use it instead of oil. Try it--Yummy. I'm now buying one for my Mom and one for brother and family for Christmas. Hate microwave popcorn - dry and burn tasting. Hot air ones the same..
Stir Crazy is best popper (or small appliance available) also don't tighten the stirring rod down too tight - just snug.
    Enjoy the movie --

5-0 out of 5 stars Tried & True... Best home machine out there!
I grew up with a Stir Crazy popcorn popper as a kid. I still have an original and it's over 20 years old! I did have to replace the lid once, due to dropping the old one. The remarks about the nonstick surface peeling off are true but not a big deal. I've never experienced any negative effects due to this! The use of the oil is akin to seasoning a cast iron pan.

It's gone in & out of fashion in my family over the years, but we still can't find anything that does a better job, short of a commercial popper. So many people out there are interested in faster, unattended popping. Part of the fun IS taking the time to relax and enjoy watching the Stir Crazy perform! How many kids will have fond memories of sitting in front of the microwave and watching a bag? Think about it!

I'll continue to use ours until it's life is over. I am also going to order a replacement, just in case it is no longer available for some reason in the future.

Buy it, Pop it, enjoy the show! You won't be sorry!

5-0 out of 5 stars This thing makes the best popcorn!!!
I love the taste of the popcorn that this makes! Of course, you have to add the fattening stuff to it by adding oil to the popcorn so it can cook the popcorn properly and not burn or scrape the nonstick bottom off, then also for the best taste, add the powdered popcorn flavorings(add it to the oil and kernals before cooking). But anything that tastes good is fattening, right?!? They do eventually wear out and you have to get a new one if you like them. Easy to clean. I remember buying one a very long time ago (like 7 years or so ago) for my stepdad and he is now in need of another one. But not too bad for the price to last that long with a lot use on it. I certainly recommend this for the best popcorn. If you prefer the less healthy, but better tasting popcorn! Stick with the air poppers if you eat healthier!

5-0 out of 5 stars This Is The Way To Make Popcorn!
West Bend's "Stir Crazy" is the way to make popcorn. In a few minutes the popcorn comes out light, with very little unpopped or burnt. With multiple batches the popping time drops. Butter can be placed in the top or butter oil can give the flavor. We have tried other methods, but none match up. This is the best! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars So Easy to Use
When my West Bend cooker arrived, I was disappointed. The lid didn't seem to fit tightly and the pot was so light I thought it couldn't possibly work correctly. I was very wrong. The lid still steamed up when the items cooked and the temperature must be perfect because I haven't cooked a bad meal yet. I never thought I'd be so excited about using a slow cooker but the time it saves is amazing and the recipes can be as easy or as complicated as you want to make them. There's nothing like coming home to the aroma of dinner cooking after a long day and knowing all you have to do is serve dinner. In addition, the lightness, the non-stick surface and the fact that you can just pop the pot on the stove to brown meat or in the frig when you're done, without dirtying another container or another pot when you reheat it, is such a timesaver. Knowing I didn't want to be bothered peeling potatoes in the morning, I cut up vegetables at night and cooked stew over night, put the pot in the frig before going to work and just heated it up at night. You can't do that with the old fashion crock pots.

My only complaint is that the cord is very short, but everything else is great.

5-0 out of 5 stars Really nice!
This is a much better product than a Rival crock pot. For one thing, it will do so much more ("Versatility" is a good name for it). You can, for example, brown your pot roast in it on your stove before setting the pot on its heating base to slow cook. Hence, fewer pans to clean up. I consider the variety of settings a plus. More choices means more control. Also, the "keep warm" settings come in really handy. I haven't used the heating base as a griddle but it's nice to know I have that option. The only thing I don't like about it is the chord length- it's a bit on the short side. Other than that I love it! Everything comes out tasty. It's easy and convenient to use. It's easy and convenient to clean. It's even light weight!

Oh, well, in all fairness I guess I should mention some things the Rival is equiped to do that the West Bend is not: 1) the Rival pot can break if you drop it or subject it to sudden significant temperature change. 2) The Rival handles on the heating base can crack and eventually crumble into small pieces. (Mine did.) 3) Since it weighs so much, the Rival can probably get you into pretty good shape if you lift it enough times. (I use hand weights myself.) I mention these things just in case someone is looking to pay money for this sort of thing. (Well, you never know!) However, in my opinion these are not desireable features in a slow cooker so it's just as well the West Bend doesn't have them. : )

I hope this information helps you make a good decision!

5-0 out of 5 stars It's the best
I must start off by saying two things. I was always against Crock Pots - they reminded me on something my grandmother would use. Also I am a certified chef who loves to cook so I know food. That said I have started a new job (not a chef) and I am getting home later in the evening and this slow cooker was suggested to me as a means of having a hot meal when I got home as opposed to waiting an hour and not eating until 7 or 8 in the evening. I was really getting tired of having to cook for an hour once I got home instead of spending that quality time with my family or just a bit of relaxation time for me. So I tried it. I am now a follower!!! I love this slow cooker. The top has only fallen in once and I have had it for a month, so that is no problem for me. It only fell in because i was putting it on incorrectly. Yes it may seem a little thin at first but it really holds up and cleans very easily. I like the thinner design because it's easy to get in and out of the cupboard as oppossed to the older ones that needed to be lugged from place to place. I love the fact that I can brown meats ahead of time and it can go in the oven. I now do not need to purchase a new dutch oven. 2 pieces of cookware at once!! It cooks very evenly and I use it at least 3 times a week. Everything has come out wonderful and my picky 8-year old has not complained once. I really do recommend this slow cooker. Especially for busy moms.

5-0 out of 5 stars Not that "Versatile"
It's my first slow cooker and I love it. It's easy to clean, light-weight, and cooks evenly. I have not had any problems with the lid because thanks to reviews on this site, I have been very careful. As far as browning ingredients in the pot before slow-cooking is concerned I have found the surface area a little too small for proper browning- so, if you wanted to brown 1 cut up chicken you wold have to do it in 2 or more batches otherwise you'd end up just stewing it (which doesn't save you any time).

    5-0 out of 5 stars I recommended
This slow cooker is light, versatile, and EASY to CLEAN! It ALL goes into the dishwasher (except the heating element of course). Its a good size for a family. I would buy it again. ... Read more

Ideal for dinner parties of two or four, this breadmaker produces aromatic, piping hot fresh bread in 45 minutes. Compact enough to easily fit on a countertop (or table!), the appliance produces loaves that are 3-1/2 inches by 5-1/2 inches and 4-1/2 inches tall, just the right size for intimate dinner parties. The oval bread pan gives the loaves a distinctive shape and a little dimple. Operation is as easy as putting the dough into the breadmaker and pressing two buttons, and several recipes are included, such as sunflower oat wheat, Swiss-jalapeño, and feta cheese--and nutritional information for each recipe is also included. The directions are extensive, complete with a troubleshooting guide. The breadmaker's viewing window is especially nice, and lets you watch your bread take shape. 5-0 out of 5 stars Fast little breadmaker
This was an impulse buy - after reading all of the positive reviews here I decided to give it a try. When it arrived I was surprised at how small the bread pan was and was considering sending it back. But then I did 2 things - I looked at other larger breadmakers and realized they take anywhere from 3-5 hours to make a loaf of bread (this one takes 45 minutes total, including the knead cycle) and I made a loaf of bread and discovered it actually can serve 2-4 people with a total of around 6 decent size slices. My first loaf came out a little small and dense so I read the troubleshooting guide and decided it was too little water, so next time during the mix cycle i knew what the dough looked like when it was too dry, added 1 tablespoon of water and the bread came out perfect. This breadmaker doesnt have a timer feature but since it is done in 45 minutes, you dont need one! Other things I like: prep is easy - about 5 minutes (basic bread requires bread flour, salt, sugar, milk or water, butter or oil and yeast), the pan is non stick and very easy to clean and since the loaf is not big you don't end up pigging out on bread. My only 2 very minor complaints: the bread gets cooked around the kneading blade and can get stuck to the bread making it a little hard to remove the bread from the pan and if you lose power, accidentally unplug it or shut it off during the rise or bake cycle the bread machine has no memory so it starts over from the knead cycle (the book does tell you how to finish baking in a regular oven though and this shouldnt happen too often). Overall, I'm very satisfied.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Little Machine!
I received a larger breadmaker as a Christmas gift, but the other had questionable reviews on this site (it's a Breadman TR444), so upon reading the sparkling reviews of the Just For Dinner, I ordered one the next day. I liked the fact it was compact & took up less counterspace& made bread in 45 minutes. It is a smaller oaf, but as others pointed out, does have 5-6 decent sized slices. It's perfect for a single person, and the loaves are small enough to eat by myself in 2 days tops, before they go stale or the bread has to be thrown away. Note: You do have to use bread machine yeast/rapid rise yeast in this machine- regular active dry yeast won't work, because apparently the loaves don't rise enough before baking. I wonder if that was the problem with my other machine on the Rapid cycle- I was using the wrong kind of yeast....

I have so far had good luck with my Breadman, on the regular cycle anyway, and do plan to keep and use both, but it is nice to have an option for a smaller, quicker loaf of bread! Sometimes waiting 3 1/2-4 hours for a loaf of fresh bread is okay/ you have a larger group, but sometimes you just don't want to wait that long, or need that much. If you're looking for a smaller loaf of bread in less time, the Just for Dinner just might be for you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Not Just For Dinner Anymore
West Bend should definitely change the name of this wonderful bread maker to "Not Just for Dinner Anymore". My husband and I use ours most often to make warm breakfast bread, yummy! The aroma makes our house smell wonderful. Add some fruit and breakfast is served. Leftover bread makes great sandwiches, too. The machine comes with easy to read instructions and a good assortment of recipes. It only takes about 55 minutes from start to finish including kneading and baking time to make a loaf. I measure carefully as recommended and have not had a flop in the three months we have had our machine. The Raisin and the Honey/Oatmeal breads are our favorites so far but we haven't as yet tried even half the recipes. We no longer buy store bread at all, I make two or three loaves every couple weeks and that is plenty for the two of us. If you like great homemade bread without much fuss, we highly recommend this breadmaker to you.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is the best thing since sliced bread!
We purchased this since we were tired of going to the store every night for french bread. We were a little concerned about the size, but the loaf of bread that it produces is perfect for our family. It serves 3-4 adults and 1 child perfectly. It is quick, easy and a snap to clean up. We had to toss out our previous bread maker because the bread pan lost its coating and was too hard to clean. We have used a variety of bread mixes and all have come out perfectly. We love this machine - it is worth every penny!

5-0 out of 5 stars That's a wonderful little machine!
Based on the reviews (actually the reviews are really helpful too), I finally made a decision to purchase this tiny machine as I had two of the normal size bread machines before and they took more than 3 hours to have a loaf of bread and somehow it turned out with some problems and the breads were really awful occasionally. Those were the main reasons why I donated both eventually but now this little stuff is so powerful and all breads turn out beautifully within an hour. I even made my fresh pasta and cookie doughs recently. It is really great! ... Read more

This versatile egg cooker serves eggs any way you like them--poached for Eggs Benedict, hard-cooked for spinach salads or deviled eggs, or soft-cooked for serving in an egg cup. Completely foolproof, this appliance only requires that you fill the base with the proper amount of water for the number of eggs you’re cooking and then flip the power switch. An alert sounds when eggs are ready. The cooker has a removable rack that holds up to seven eggs for hard- or soft-boiling. A separate poaching pan with an easy-to-clean nonstick interior holds a total of four eggs. The heat-resistant base stays cool while eggs are cooking and a clear lid lets you check progress. The cooker also comes with its own measuring cup that has a pin in the bottom for piercing eggshells when soft-cooking (to keep them from cracking during cooking). 4-0 out of 5 stars I like it so far
We received our first West Bend egg cooker for a wedding shower gift 16 years ago. It was still working, but the nonstick coating had long ago worn off, and a piece of the plastic handle had broken off. My husband didn't know what the soft-boiled piercer was, so he clipped it off with pliers because he thought it was dangerous.

Anyway, I thought it was time for a new one, and I looked on Amazon to see what was new and exciting in egg cookers. After looking at them all and reading the reviews, I decided to buy the West Bend 86628. It seemed to be the most like our old one with a few new perks.

So far, I like it just fine. You have to read the manual carefully, though, because I was using the soft-boiled water levels for poached (even though it didn't make sense), then I read the manual to find out that there is a specific recommendation. My poached eggs were coming out too hard before I figured out the correct amount of water. I've used it to cook 1-6 hard boiled eggs, and it has been perfect. I don't know what the other review means about the wells not being deep enough - my large eggs fit perfectly.

It is easy to clean, and unlike the older version, the nonstick coating seems better already. The older one had the egg stick on almost from the first use, and we had to use a scrubber or steal wool to get it off. This one cleans up without a problem.

It is true that getting the eggs out of the poacher is, well, a challenge. I'm sure it's the same with one designed for the microwave or a pot on the stove. We use a small rubber spatula to help "slide" the egg out, but they are hot! You can't wear a mitt because the handle is too small to grasp with a bulky mitt.

All in all, I think anyone would be happy with this unit for the price, and it would make a nice wedding shower gift :-) (even if the bride to be laughs at first - like I did!)

3-0 out of 5 stars Older model is not built to last
I purchased the older model--86618--a few years ago and find that although it's great, it's not very durable. The poaching tray "non-stick" coating eventually comes off and the tray cannot be handled when hot. There is also no way to grab the other tray with boiled eggs on it, the knob is too small and I burn myself sometimes. I also hate that burned egg-water smell, and eventually the film left behind no longer comes off. The switch on mine no longer works after two years of heavy usage. Aside from those small annoyances, the appliance has given me hundreds of perfect eggs. I will always own one of these, but likely will switch brands when it comes time to replace the West Bend; I do hope the 86628 had lots of improvements over the original model, especially a non-stick boiling reservoir, and it would have been nice to see taller tray handles. Including shipping, mine cost over thirty bucks, the newest Krups and Cuisinart models are under twenty-five now with seemingly better designs.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not for Poached Eggs
If you're interested in poached eggs, don't buy this one. The egg wells are not deep enough to hold a decent size egg. I can't comment on soft boiled or hard boiled, I sent it back.

    5-0 out of 5 stars Don't buy on advertized Wattage's really 350W
The 86628 works just fine BUT I bought it based on West Bend's advertized wattage rating of 600W--thinking more is better. In actuality the unit is only rated at 350W. West Bend claims they're changing the misinformation on their site today.
My previous Egg Cooker was an Oster and it was OK.
I prefer my new 86628 because: It's all plastic so the egg holder won't discolor as did the Oster. The water measuring cup allows exact measures not like some others where you add water to the base. The egg holder allows you to remove all the eggs at once and imerse in cooling water so you don't have to handle each egg separately. The 'done' signal is LOUD. I like the positive Off/On switch. Others shut off the unit when cooking is finished. In my opinion that kind of temperature sensitive switching is a weakness. Which is what happened to my Oster. Although the water measuring instructions don't make sence to me, ie: more eggs need less water, I followed the instructions for soft boiling 4 and the eggs were perfect. And is an excellent way to buy merchandise.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Good Egg!
Easy to use and very dependable! We love our egg cooker, if you've never had one, this is a small appliance you will really use. ... Read more

A good size for parties, families, and popcorn junkies, the 8-quart Stir Crazy popper from West Bend uses a motorized stirring rod to maximize popcorn yield and minimize cooking time. The rod sweeps the kernels over the popper surface so that the kernels are evenly distributed over the oil and heat. This design yields up to 25 percent more than other models, while popping takes just seven minutes, and unpopped kernels are rare. The popper also includes a dual steam vent and butter well in the lid for minimizing condensation and buttering the corn while it pops. When popping is finished, the lid doubles as a serving bowl. Isn't it fun to go to Mongolian grills and watch them prepare stir-fry right in front of you ? Now you can provide your guests with that same excitement with this 1,500-watt electric wok. Simply put it on your table, let the guests chose their favorite vegetables, meats, and tofu, and then get the dinner party livened up with some quick wokking right there on the spot. Although the handles and base are heat-resistant, you'll probably want to set the wok on a cutting board to protect your tabletop.

The adjustable temperature settings give precise control over cooking--select a high temperature for lightning-quick stir fries or the lower "warm" setting for serving. The wok features a support ledge for warming while stir-frying, and the nonstick interior is just right for cooking veggies and meats with less oil. Completely immersible once the temperature control is removed, the wok is dishwasher-safe for super-quick cleanup. --Ariel Meadow Stallings ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Disgrace to a fine Chinese cooking tool
You never ever use an electric wok to cook Chinese food. It is all about the fire and the intensity of the heat. Only people that use this are people whom have no idea what they're doing. Do yourself a favor and purchase a real wok.

5-0 out of 5 stars Replaced after 25 years
I finally had to replace my West Bend Electic Wok after 25 hard years of use. The wok still worked but the electric cord gave out. I could replace the cord for about $20 but I got to looking at what was a beautiful red wok and it was now faded and the interior was beginning to stick. I figured they may have made a few improvements in that time, so opted to by a new one. It was well worth it. Heats up much faster, cools down quicker, larger cooking surface. Since I have a pantry, it stored in the same space as before. I like the metal lid. It is lighter than my first one so I can lift it with one hand and spoon contents out with the other. The only problem I have is seeing the temperature gauge because of the electrical outlet location in my kitchen. The gauge ends up on the left, under the handle.

5-0 out of 5 stars West Bend Wok
After reading reviews on the wok's available on Amazon[.com], I decided on this Wok due to the ability to put it in the dishwasher. Turns out it is a bit to large to put in my dishwasher, but it is very easy to hand clean. The non-stick surface has lasted, but I am careful to only use plasic or wood, and I wash it with a cloth and soap. It gets to temperature quickly during cooking, the only 'complaint' I have is the simmer cycles (not a constant heat, but on and off). I purchased some Thai cook books, (Real Thai, and Thailand The Beautiful Cook Book) and was amazed with the correct ingredients and a Wok, how easy it is to prepare my favorite food. The difference the wok made- I was able to cook at the correct temperatures. My stove BTU is apparently quite low, it took forever to 'sizzle' so the food turned to mush before it was cooked. I now use the wok for anything I want to cook fast and/or warm up.

4-0 out of 5 stars a great wok
i like this wok very is elaborate and works well. i always use it when i cook hot pot. the only trouble thing is that washing isn't convenient.i will give 5 stars if the wok can be removed from the base .

5-0 out of 5 stars great and convenient cooking tool for anyone
I have been wanting a good wok for a very long time, however until recently I have been preparing all of my stir fry dishes on top of the stove in a pan. I've hinted around to my husband on numerous occasion's my desire for a wok. This Christmas my husband surprised me with a wok as a gift. I must say that I really did try to hold out until Christmas, but the anticipation got the best me and I am so glad it did. the West Bend 79586-6 quart electric wok is more than I expected. For high-volume coffee production, it doesn't make sense to run multiple pots through a standard drip-filter coffee maker. It's much more efficient to make one large pot that will serve a multitude. This West Bend coffee maker will produce 60 cups of coffee and keep it warm and tasty, without the "toasting" effect that occurs when coffee cooks down in a glass pot on a warming burner. Made of professional-grade stainless steel with stay-cool black handle and feet, the 60-Cup Commercial Coffee Urn is well suited to any type of gathering, whether it's for business or pleasure.

Clearly marked volume measurement lines can be read from inside or outside the canister. A dripless toggle faucet is positioned so that almost every last drop will pour out--no waste. In addition to brewing coffee, it can heat water for instant beverages or tea. To reheat cold coffee or other beverages by remove basket and filter, refill canister at least up to the 12-cup mark, and plug the unit in; the green "ready" light will come on when it's been reheated.

Cleaning the coffee maker is important for consistent coffee quality. Wash basket, stem, and cover in hot soapy water, then rinse and dry completely. Coffee stains can be removed by using a non-abrasive cleanser. Do not wash the parts in dishwasher; it may discolor them. Clean outside of unit with a soft cloth or sponge. Clean the inner heating well by using the metal cleaning tool provided with a scouring pad. The coffee maker measures 12 by 16 inches (including lid and handles). It includes a one-year West Bend warranty against defects and comes with a detailed booklet of instructions and tips. --Garland Withers ... Read more

This electronic stand mixer beats cake or bread dough, leaving your hands free for other food preparation tasks. The powerful motor has 12 easy-to-set speeds that can handle any mixing task. You can knead dough or stir ingredients on the lower speeds, smooth batters or mash potatoes on the medium speeds, and whip cream or prepare frosting on the highest speeds. An electronic sensor detects how large your quantities are and adjusts the speed up or down automatically to accommodate larger or smaller loads. The mixer comes with 1-1/2-quart and 4-quart stainless-steel bowls that are dishwasher-safe for easy cleaning. Both bowls rotate on the mixer’s turntable during operation for more even blending. The mixer also has two beaters that are large in size, leaving little batter on the sides of the bowl to scrape down. Two heavy-duty dough hooks are included for making bread. A release button easily ejects the beaters or hooks for cleanup. Made of lightweight plastic and fairly compact in size, this mixer is easier to lift and store in a cabinet than some of the heavier cast-iron stand mixer models. West Bend's Oval 4-Quart Crockery Cooker has a country-kitchen look, with clean white curves accented in gold, maroon, and navy blue, with a freehand-style floral motif. Its casual design is well suited to everyday kitchen use, but it's also decorative enough to take its place in a buffet line-up. (During fall and winter, it's great for keeping hot cider or mulled wine warm.) The stoneware insert--also a deep blue--can be used as a serving or baking dish.

There are three temperature settings--Hi, Lo, and Keep Warm, and an indicator light underneath the control dial verifies that the heating element is engaged. The domed glass lid helps keep an eye on whatever's cooking. The body of the slow cooker is metal, so exercise caution, as it does heat up along with the contents as they cook. The lid and handles, however, are made of a stay-cool plastic and can be safely touched during the cooking process.

Clean-up is very easy; warm soapy water will do the trick. (The base unit is not immersible; just use a soapy rag or cloth.) Do not use scratchy, abrasive cleaners on any part of the slow cooker. The glass lid and stoneware insert are both dishwasher-safe. The slow cooker measures 15-1/2 by 11 by 9 inches (including lid and handles). 5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect fit, perfect size, perfect cook
I have used this crock pot for three meals so far without problems. It show great promise of the being the (almost) perfect slow cooker.

I purchased this model because it is as close to the perfect crock pot as you can get. Our other crock pot is a 6 quart round model and too large for normal cooking and "burns" or over-cooks normal meals. This four quart crock pot is the perfect size for our family of four. We can fill it half-way with fixings for a half-gallon of stew (gives leftovers) or make a full pot of spaghetti sauce that will provide for a couple of meals. The three settings (High / Low / Keep Warm) work as you would think. I did note that the 'Keep Warm' setting may be a bit too hot for delicate sauces but was just right for the stew and spaghetti. Four quarts (1 gallon) is a lot of food!

Any crock you get should have a dishwasher safe removable crock and lid like this one. An oval crock pot allows you to fit larger cuts of meat in the crock than a round pot. I can not fit my 6-quart crock in the dishwasher but can and do put this one in the dishwasher.

This crock pot does not 'loose steam' as some of the others are described but the lid is not sealed like a pressure cooker. As the food is cooked, steam is emitted. It gathers and cools at the (inside) top of the glass lid and drips down to the side of the lid, collecting on the lip of the crock where the lid sits. The lid sits on the lip of the crock easily with a few small dimples to prevent it from sealing (this is good - keep reading). As the steam condenses on the side of the crock the water collecting on the side seals the cooker. It works. Steam is kept in the crock pot but the pot will not become a pressure cooker. The glass lid will not 'bubble' or rock on the stone crock as it cooks so it is safer than some older models. It works and works well.

The oval shape of the crock allows for a larger cuts of meat than a round crock pot the same size. The stone crock and glass lid is dishwasher safe and actually fits in the dishwasher. Clean-up is easy. The pot does not take up too much space in the cupboard.

This crock pot has a great price for what you get. A higher price may not get you a better crock pot. Until I see a crock pot with intelligent sensors (senses the temperature of what you are cooking) and digital controls for temperature and time with pre-sets for different types of sauces and meals, this is the one. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars DONT LIKE THIS PRODUCT
I have had lots of griddles and have worn them out using them but this one was the worst. I actually returned one because it had a bad connection between the cord and the griddle and would not stay on, it would lose connection as I was cooking on it and i would have half done pancakes on it.

So I returned it thinking it was a defective one well the second one was worse, the connection between the cord and the griddle started to smoke and caught on fire, good thing I was right there when it happened.

Since I threw the box away I can not return it, so to me I might as well had taken 40.00 and just threw it out the window cause that is basically what I did. The thing is still new, doesnt even have a scratch on it, that is how little I was able to use it. Then when it caught on fire I quit using it.

So if you own one of these please dont leave it unattended.

    Hi Everyone,
I love my new griddle. Tho not the one I originally wanted I must say I am VERY pleased with this one from West Bend. It has plenty of cooking room for a variety of items to cook at once. This griddle is wonderful for pancakes and hamburgers. But it's a bit messy with the hamburgers. The grease does flow into the grease channel, but it's a tight fit to get in there to clean it. I use it for pancakes and it's heaven to make 8 at a time. ... Read more
